Last week our resident novelty-guzzling elder god the Maw ate me, as Julian sorrowfully reported. Well, I'm back in the waking world, and not as smelly as I could be, all things considered. I've been eaten by the Maw a few times now, but this is the first time I've managed to escape via one of its mouths, rather than by way of… other orifices.

"ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED," I bellow, straightening heroically with my shoulders braced against the cyclopean gums, as chunks of rancid Call Of Duty DLC sluice between my ankles. "MY OTHER CAR'S A MOTHRA", I roar, as the other RPS staff hastily gather with a jump net. "HERE ARE SOME NEW PC GAMES," I add, throwing myself into the waiting arms of my brethren.

Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War is out today on PC. It's another licensed retro first-person shooter from Auroch Digital, the creators of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. It casts you as a Mobile Infantry soldier wrassling with the Arachnids on a bunch of human colonies, including a seaside resort planet that reminds me of Halo: Combat Evolved.

In general, the game caters to a slightly more recent era of graphicsability than the Doom-ish Boltgun, with boxy weapons and enemies that have me dreaming of the early polygonal 3D period, a few years before the brownification of action games set in. Think heyday of MDK and Turok.

Final Fantasy XII 20th Anniversary Celebrated With Music, Shirts FFXII The Zodiac Age shirts

Square Enix announced two ways in which it is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy XII, with one being a live stream of the soundtrack and the other being official FFXII shirts on the company's official Amazon on Demand storefront in Japan. Said shirts are only available in that country right now, but we could end up seeing them worldwide like the Octopath Traveler and Voice of Cards clothing Square Enix sells on Amazon.

Final Fantasy XII is the entry set in Ivalice, the same world in which the Final Fantasy Tactics titles take place, and it appeared on the PS2 ahead of the FFXII: The Zodiac Age Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It changed things up in a number of ways, such as the inclusion of Gambits that involved setting conditions to determine how allies behave in battle and a License Board skill tree system. After Dalmasca's royal family is seemingly killed and its head captain supposedly responsible, we learn Captain Basch's twin was the one who killed the king, his daughter Princess Ashe is alive. Vaan and Penelo, two ordinary people, end up joining Ashe, Basch, and the sky pirates Balthier and Fran, with the whole crew joining together to restore Ashe and find magicite and nethicite.

In the case of the 20th anniversary Final Fantasy XII soundtrack stream, that's live now and includes footage from the game as tracks play. You can watch it on YouTube.

https://www.youtube.com/live/6MaOGFZbDwc

As for the Final Fantasy shirts, Square Enix noted on social media they'll be sold on its Amazon storefront in Japan until March 15, 2027, and these include images from FFXII: The Zodiac Age. There are four designs available in different styles like t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and sweatshirts. One of them features the Ryoma Ito anniversary illustration.

Here's how the four different designs look. All of them feature the game's logo. Three designs show the main cast. One features Moogles from that series above the anniversary logo.

Final Fantasy XII is available on the PS2, and FFXII: The Zodiac Age is on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

fate/extra record delayed indefinitely

Fate/Extra Record will be delayed indefinitely, and Bandai Namco Entertainment announced it will no longer be publishing the game. It was supposed to come out in Spring 2026 on the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC via Steam. There's no word on if the platforms will remain the same following this confirmation.

The Fate/Extra Record X (formerly Twitter) account posted a statement about the situation. It said that Bandai Namco Entertainment would no longer be publishing it, and then it apologized to everyone who had been waiting for the remake's release. To clarify, development on the game hasn't stopped. The publisher will just be different.

People who have already pre-ordered the game via Asobi Store will receive a refund, and the order will be canceled. Anyone who pre-ordered will receive an e-mail from Asobi Store about that and next steps.

Fate/Extra Record is the upcoming remake of Fate/Extra, a dungeon-crawling JRPG spin-off that takes place in an alternate Fate universe from stay night. This game originally came out in 2010 for the PSP, and it was popular enough to get its own sequels, companion game, and anime adaptation. Characters originating from Fate/Extra, such as Nero and Tamamo, also appear in Fate/Grand Order. Fate/Extra Record was originally announced in 2020, and it was supposed to come out in 2025 before the studio delayed the game to 2026.

Type-Moon will continue to develop Fate/Extra Record while looking for a publisher. More information on the new release window will come out later.

Planet of Lana II is quite a successful sequel that builds on the original in pretty much every way.

The first Planet of Lana game felt like a desperate race to survive, thrive, and free loved ones. It ended up being an incredibly tense, short situation that focused on things like puzzles and stealth, even though situations could get quite heated and quick-time events appeared. It also left some mysteries unsolved and a situation in which the people on the planet suddenly had access to new technologies and robot assistance. While billed as a standalone sequel, Planet of Lana II builds on the premise in every way, while also leaving room for the future.

Editor's Note: There will be Planet of Lana spoilers in the next paragraph.

Even though Wishfully mentioned Planet of Lana II is a standalone game and it begins with a full retrospective of everything that happened in the first installment, I feel like actually going through the first experience is important. Yes, there's a full summary. But the brief introduction lacks the same punch. I felt it didn't make clear the twist that everyone on the planet is descended from people from a colony ship the "invading" alien robots worked on, and the altercation came from them attempting to follow their original programming. I think someone coming to this without that experience might not be as connected to Lana and Mui's story.

Anyways, as a result of the events of the first game, all of the people now live alongside robots and are beginning to use of the alien-to-them technology from the original. However, that means some aren't using it peacefully or appropriately, which is causing societal issues. Lana herself is more driven to figure out more of the truth of her people's past, especially after seeing certain elements on ships. There's also the question of background for Mui, her companion, and other characters. Plus, as an additional driving force, Lana needs to find a cure for an ailing child. Which prompts her to set out on another adventure for answers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVygKJjRaTs

Artistically and narratively, Wishfully handled Planet of Lana II so well. The game is still quite gorgeous. Even though we are seeing some places depicted in the original, the design, lighting, and other visual enhancements make it all somehow look even more beautiful. It looks (and runs) especially well on the Switch 2 and is quite vivid. There's also a conscious design decision for there to be an original language used, so we need to infer what some interactions and elements mean. While there are occasional subtitles to help set up certain plot points, it's a choice that works because the developer is constantly showing us what we need to know through character actions and environmental storytelling. I also found the brief Mui's Journey segments, in which we control that character and gain additional insights into their experiences, are very insightful and well-executed.

In terms of gameplay, Planet of Lana II works a lot like the original game. While this is an action adventure, it tends to rely more on thoughtful puzzle-solving than skill-based platforming. That isn't to say there's none. This time around, Lana is able to do things like wall-jump and slide to reach certain areas. Stealth is also still used, since Lana and Mui aren't attacking. Meanwhile, as in the original, puzzles can involve things like pulling boxes to places, flipping switches, managing Mui and having them work with and even sacrifice other animals, and hacking robots. Since Lana doesn't directly attack, other approaches are necessary to handle foes and make what might have been a boss fight in another game into a puzzle here.

One thing I did notice when going through Planet of Lana II is because it is a more methodical type of adventure, it can take time adjusting to the controls. Things do move very smoothly and it is easy to execute actions. However, knowing where hitboxes are for potential hazards or what cover will actually, well, cover, can take some time to work out. The first chapter feels like a learning experience for this. Also, since the game itself is pretty short and takes about five hours, it usually doesn't get too exacting until about the fifth chapter. So by the time you do get to the more demanding seventh chapter, you're prepared.

Planet of Lana II is quite a successful sequel that builds on the original in pretty much every way. Wishfully also tells its story in a fascinating way that still leaves every intention and action crystal clear. It might take some time to adjust to inputs, but it's a brief adventure with interesting puzzles and a promising cliffhanger.

Planet of Lana II is available on the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC

A ghost trapped in a summoning circle in front of a flaming cross in Phasmophobia

If you think you've mastered the art of ghost hunting in Phasmophobia, you may be ready to put your skills to the test. Weekly challenge modes are a great way to find out just how good you are.

These special trials modify how the game works, usually with rules that make the experience a lot harder. Successfully finishing the challenge gets you plenty of XP and cash, so it's well worth the effort. Here's the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia and everything you need to know to beat it.

Phasmophobia weekly challenge mode (March 15-22)

Beginning the Speedrun Challenge in Phasmophobia
Screenshot by Destructoid

From March 15 to 22, the weekly challenge is Speedrun! in Phasmophobia. In this challenge, you're asked to find the ghost as quickly as possible when lots of useful boosts are given to you. There's no actual timer or countdown, but you're meant to try and speedrun through the contract as fast as you can, simply to see if you can get it done quickly.

How to complete the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia

To finish the weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia, you need to correctly identify the ghost present on the featured map three times. The specific changes in each trial mode vary, but your goal is always the same.

All Speedrun! weekly challenge modifiers in Phasmophobia

This challenge mode has several specific rules that modify the way the contract functions. Here are all the key details you need to know.

  • Map: 6 Tanglewood Drive
  • Starting sanity: 100
  • Sanity drain speed: 200 percent
  • Setup time: None
  • Player speed: 150 percent
  • Ghost speed: 100 percent
  • Fuse box state: Starts on and is marked on the map
  • Cursed Possession: All
  • Equipment: All Tier III items.

    • Tier III: Sound Recorder, Head Gear, Parabolic Microphone, Motion Sensor, Spirit Box, EMF Reader, Sanity Medication, Crucifix, Tripod, Ghost Writing Book, Flashlight, Firelight, UV Light, Thermometer, Photo Camera, Sound Sensor, Salt, Incense, Video Camera, DOTS Projector, and Igniter.

  • Missing Equipment: None

Phasmophobia Speedrun! weekly challenge mode tips

This is one of the trickier challenges you can attempt in Phasmophobia, so here are some of the best tips you can employ to help you get it done.

  • Learn the map ahead of time. 6 Tanglewood Drive underwent a massive rework, so it looks and feels a lot different from what it did before. Because of this, it's best to first explore it in a custom match with the friendly ghost option turned on so you can strategize before you jump in.
  • Be wary of early hunters. There's no setup time in this one, so it's possible, although unlikely, that you may be hunted as soon as you step on the map. Try to get your single Crucifix down in the ghost room as soon as possible to deter this and also ensure you're always ready to run or hide as needed.
  • Try out some Cursed Objects. You have access to all seven of them in this trial, so consider tracking down all 6 Tanglewood Drive Cursed Possession locations to try using one. There are no consequences for dying in this trial, so this is the best time and place to get a bit risky with them.
  • Watch for unofficial evidence, behaviors, and patterns. If you really want to try and get this challenge done quickly, catching secret forms of unofficial evidence is a great way to do so. Look for clues like the Wraith's refusal to ever step in Salt or the Obake's six-fingered handprint to help you catch the culprit here.
  • Play with friends. Your odds of success are a lot better with allies helping you through this tricky trial. With additional ghost hunters at your side, you can explore the map more quickly, work together to gather evidence, and continue the investigation even if you perish.
  • Don't give up. Since all equipment is provided for free, there's nothing to lose in this challenge. Because of this, you can keep trying without worrying about losing money or equipment. Give each contract your all and keep at it until you get it done.
  • Make an educated guess. Some ghosts are just easier to identify than others, so luck plays a large role in how easy or tough this trial is. You should always make a guess before you leave, then reroll to try again, even if you have no idea what the correct ghost type is.

When does the challenge mode change in Phasmophobia?

The challenge mode changes every Monday at 12am UTC, which translates to 6pm CT every Sunday. You have a full week to tackle each challenge mode when it's available. All challenge modes return regularly since they're on a rotating schedule, so if you don't get to finish one, you can always try it again in the future.

Next weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia

The next weekly challenge mode, which will run for a full week from March 22 to 29, will be Survival of the Fittest. This challenge mode will begin as soon as this week's featured one ends.

BitLife characters traveling in a luxury car

If you put in a tremendous amount of effort in BitLife, you may eventually be rewarded with some unique achievements. One of these is getting inducted into the Hall of Fame as a pro sports player.

This is a pretty big achievement, so making it happen is a very tough task that takes a long time. It's a crucial goal for certain challenges, though, so you may need to know how to get inducted into the Hall of Fame in BitLife.

How do you get inducted into the Hall of Fame in BitLife?

hall of fame in bitlife
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can get inducted into the Hall of Fame by selecting the "Attend the ceremony" option when the Hall of Fame pop-up appears in BitLife. This pop-up is quite random and unpredictable, which means it may be presented to you at any given point once you've been deemed worthy of it.

There's no way to guarantee your entry into the Hall of Fame, nor is there any way to force the associated pop-up to appear since it's a completely random event. You can, however, boost your chances of seeing it by taking certain actions. Overall, your goal should be to have a long, successful career in your chosen field, as this is what will secure you Hall of Fame status.

The first is to be a professional sports player. This one is actually a must, as you cannot enter the Hall of Fame unless you are a qualifying candidate. Becoming a pro sports player is quite a tough task on its own, so focus on this goal first.

Once you've landed a pro sports job, work extremely hard at it. Practice and train often to improve your skills and help your team. Check out your specific sports stats and work on improving whichever ones are lowest, especially those that are in the red. Aim to eventually get all of them in the green. Be sure to also keep your Smarts and Health stats high, as you need to be reliable all around to ensure you find success in your career.

Practing sports in bitlife
Screenshot by Destructoid

With these requirements met, all you can do is wait and hope. It generally takes a long and lucrative career built over many years to achieve Hall of Fame status. It's typical not to see this pop up for 10 or more years, so don't get too discouraged if it takes a while. Age up fairly often to increase your odds of seeing it, as this pop-up tends to appear many years down the line in your career. The more work you put in and the more wins you achieve, the better your odds are of being asked to join, so don't give up.

Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is a key goal in the Mamba challenge, so you're now ready to take on this tricky trial. If you're looking for some more difficult tasks to get done, consider also working on the Kahlo My World challenge, learning how to become famous, completing the Titanic challenge, and attempting to survive a shipwreck.

Marathon S'pht

They put a whole bunch of deep, dark story in my extraction shooter, and I kind of love it.

For those potentially unaware, Bungie's Marathon is actually a new sequel in a franchise that's decades old. The original Marathon launched in 1994 and birthed a few sequels, bringing with it some very dark and deep sci-fi lore surrounding rogue AI, humanity's expansion into the stars, and the titular ghost ship that was meant to carry the human race into a new solar system.

Players on a map in Marathon
Image via Bungie

And while the new extraction shooter may seem like a waste of the franchise's genuinely awesome storyline (I would so much prefer a singleplayer story campaign than getting destroyed by other players online), Bungie is using the live-service game as a vessel to deliver new story content, beginning with its fourth map, Cryo Archive.

Cryo Archive is set on the UESC Marathon ship, which was an ark of sorts, carrying over 30,000 humans in cryo stasis to the planned new home on Tau Ceti IV (we've been looting its ruins for weeks now). The circumstances behind the fate of the ship have been a mystery for some time, but the ARG that began with in-game terminals firing up across the game's existing maps may be coming to a head soon.

Throughout each stage of the complex ARG, those working together to crack codes in Discord communities have unlocked teaser videos for Cryo Archive, which is set to be Marathon's most punishing location yet. Details found over the weekend suggest players will need to be level 25 and have unlocked all factions to even access it.

The videos tease a haunting location, filled with large, hanging bags marked "human." The planet-sized ship that was meant to deliver mankind to the stars is now haunted and dormant, and massive, horrifying S'pht Compilers likely patrol its halls, along with other untold horrors. Players will need to bring their best possible gear and their top wits, because Cryo Archive may also include raid-like mechanics along with other players and the toughest AI enemies yet.

As players are running and gearing up in anticipation for the map to become playable, the ARG grinders like content creator MrRoflWaffles (of CoD Zombies easter egg-hunting fame) and many others are attempting to be the ones to open the gates for everybody, and it's been really cool to watch along (this sort of stuff is way above my paygrade and intelligence level). This weekend's latest development actually made Cryo Archive appear in-game as a selectable map that's currently "redacted," so we're getting close.

https://twitter.com/MrRoflWaffles/status/2033332916680290781

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-BU_bs3qeE

It's unclear what will happen when the ARG is fully solved (it's been timegated several times), but a confirmation of Cryo Archive's release date is most likely. Given how Bungie has delivered post-launch content in Destiny 2 for years, we can assume that this weekend, which will mark two weeks since the game launched, may be the time that the UESC Marathon will be open for business.

And the studio's penchant for these sorts of ARGs and community-driven events makes it feel like the new map's launch will be must-play or must-watch, depending on your own personal experiences with Marathon. In the meantime, you can watch a lore recap video on YouTube if you don't feel like playing the original games, which are also available on Steam.

Resident Evil 7: the players holds their hands up in defense as Jack Baker goes in to attack.

Resident Evil 7 made the series scarier than ever, in more ways than just improved scares. Resident Evil turned very serious out of the blue, bereft of funny tonal imbalances that once served as breathers. Good, but also sad, because it was once a provider of comedy gold.

Anyone lucky enough to experience the first game in the series certainly remembers its scariest moments, sure, but also its incredibly dumb writing delivered by equally awkward voice acting. Barry rescues Jill after she nearly gets crushed to death in one of the first game's most claustrophobic moments, only to throw all the tension out of the window by mentioning a "Jill Sandwich?" Fantastic.

https://youtu.be/vtTfptkUgj0

That became one of the most famous examples of unintentional comedy in gaming, a moment referenced by many other games in the series and even other media. A true "Oh hi Mark" moment from The Room long before it was a thing.

Jill's Sandwiches, a restaurant in Dead Rising that pays homage to one of the most unintentionally funny moments in the original Resident Evil.
Image via Capcom

That was enough to keep fans laughing for over a decade, but just when you thought the joke had gotten stale, we learned of another dimension to it that made it funnier than ever. It turns out the voice lines were delivered in such a weird manner because the freelance actors didn't know they were reading for a horror game, and the voice directors didn't know much English, so they had the voice actors say the lines and used the takes they believed sounded the coolest for Japanese ears.

The best feature in Resident Evil Director's Cut was the laughs

But the funniest thing about the original Resident Evil can only be found in the Resident Evil Director's Cut edition. This early attempt at milking a franchise by promising a few improvements really did a few things better, such as adding new game modes for newcomers and veteran players, as well as customized gameplay modes. Still, it also boasted an awesome new soundtrack, which was anything but. Please feast your ears on what's arguably the worst song ever put into a serious video game.

https://youtu.be/iJYvCHm3Ov4?list=RDiJYvCHm3Ov4

That song, too, only becomes funnier the deeper we dive into it. That's the result of Capcom hiring a supposedly legendary deaf Japanese composer named Mamoru Samuragochi. Now, before anyone unaware of history thinks "well, that's what you get when you hire a deaf guy to make music," it turns out that Samuragochi actually isn't deaf in real life. Pretty fun plot twist, right? Well, that was before fans found out that he likely wasn't even the one composing the songs in the first place.

Even Resident Evil's revival kept things pretty funny

Resident Evil 4 surprised everyone by showing Leon fully evolved from a rookie cop to a spec-ops badass, complete with a repertoire of badass zingers that everyone's dads would absolutely love. Asking if the entire village's population had gone to bingo after the biggest slaughter in the history of the series gets interrupted remains one of the most weirdly iconic moments in the series. Same with Salazar's threat of using his "right hand" to dispose of Leon, which is met with the most deadpan delivery of "Does your right hand come off?"

And there's even more gold underneath the surface. Though this part absolutely wasn't intended by the devs, Resident Evil 4 features not-too-rare glitches that remain some of the best examples of perfect comedy only achievable in video games, like Ashley somehow gaining access to Leon's moveset and becoming a pro-Wrestler.

https://youtu.be/d0Tg1btDrMA

19 years later, it remains equally fun to witness. And, equally good, is Leon ditching Ashley and his whole mission at the last minute because he has become a human jet ski no longer bothered by human matters.

https://youtu.be/JSSqmQjbNRg

Then Resident Evil 5 tricked players into believing it would be a much more serious Resident Evil experience, only for it to end with the most cartoony depiction of a man trying to move a boulder in all of fiction.

https://youtu.be/4xuXkVzBdJQ

In an anime-physics way, I understand why Chris could think that punching a boulder would somehow energize him to the point of getting strong enough to move the boulder, but the funniest part is that the punches aren't a mere power-up; they're the endgame, and Chris ends up finally moving the boulder not by pushing, but by Shoryukening it out of his way. Now that's how you end your game.

Bitlife character sitting on desk reading next to two other characters walking by

BitLife's many weekly challenges come with lots of tricky goals, many of which ask you to check off quests you may have no idea how to complete. One such mission is to trash-talk opponents when pursuing a career in sports.

While most dialogue options are easy to find by clicking on individuals you know, this one isn't as accessible. Because of this, you might struggle to get it done. If you're having trouble solving this one, here's how to trash-talk opponents in BitLife.

How do you trash-talk opponents in BitLife?

Trash talk option in bitlife
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can trash-talk opponents by selecting the "Trash-talk to them" option when a pop-up with this option appears in BitLife. The trash talk option isn't always available and is only an action you can take in certain random situations.

Opponents aren't available to chat with like regular characters. Instead, they're only able to be interacted with during certain work-related events, which means you can only trash-talk them when these events happen to unfold.

This pop-up can happen at any point when you're practicing your sport or playing matches. There's no way to guarantee it occurs, so how easy or difficult it is to find and trash-talk opponents is completely random and based on luck, as many unique situations in BitLife are. You might get it on the first try, or it may instead take several years in your career to encounter it.

Although you can't control when this pop-up occurs, you can increase your chances of getting it by working hard at your career and engaging in work tasks frequently, since any career-related events have a chance of this pop-up occurring. You can practice as often as you like, so practicing your sport super often is a great way to boost your chances. Matches are rarer, as they just happen from time to time on their own, but they have a solid chance of having this pop up, too.

When you do get a career event pop-up, be sure to look through all of the available choices before choosing one. The option to trash-talk someone may appear at any point, so whenever you do see it, be sure to select this option, as it won't always be a potential dialogue choice.

Trash-talking a few opponents is one of the trickier goals you need to get done in the Mamba challenge, so you're now ready to take on that trial if you haven't already. There are also plenty of other tough feats you may want to try after this one, like the Kahlo My World challenge, becoming a pro basketball player, the Titanic challenge, and becoming famous.

Player balancing basketball on their finger in bitlife

Some careers are tougher to pursue than others, and BitLife challenges often ask you to try all kinds of unique ones out. One of the most difficult jobs you might need to get after is to become a pro basketball player.

While many careers can be joined at any point if you have the right requirements for them, others are a lot more picky and may only be options available through certain pop-ups under specific conditions. The pro basketball career is one of these, making it a difficult profession to pursue. If you're having trouble with this one, here's how to become a pro basketball player in BitLife.

How to become a professional basketball player in BitLife

You can become a pro basketball player by joining the draft and being chosen by a team when prompted to do so in BitLife. This is a long-term goal that requires you to put in a lot of work first, so here's a full step-by-step breakdown of how to make it happen.

  • Start a new life. You'll want to start working toward this goal very early on, as you need specific stats to make it happen. It's easiest to do so with a fresh start rather than trying to go after it in a life where you may have already missed out on certain opportunities.
  • Work hard in school. Long term, you'll want to have good grades and generally succeed in school, as this ensures you have better opportunities later on. It also helps boost your Smarts stat, which you need.
  • Keep your Smarts and Health stats up. These two stats are the overall most important ones for eventually going pro. You can boost both through the Mind & Body tab found under Activities in the bottom right corner. For Smarts, do activities like reading a book or visiting the library. For Health, try activities like going on a walk, practicing martial arts, and visiting the gym.
  • Build your athleticism. This typically goes hand in hand with health, as it's also built through active actions like visiting the gym and performing martial arts.

  • Join the Basketball Team. Once you reach middle school, apply for the Basketball Team. As long as you have decent stats, you should get in with no problem. If not, though, work on the key stats mentioned before and keep trying until you make it. In both high school and university, be sure to join the Basketball Team again.
  • Accept a scholarship if you get one. Before you join a university, you may be offered a scholarship to play basketball. This is a great sign that means you're on the right path, so be sure to accept it when prompted to do so. You can still go pro without this pop-up, but it'll be a bit harder, as you'll need to put in some extra work.
  • Give the team your all. While a member of the Basketball Team, be sure to keep your key stats high and try to focus on performing well with your team, as this is crucial for enhancing your odds of going pro later on.
  • Enter the draft. Upon graduating, you'll get a pop-up asking if you want to join the draft. Select the "I'm eligible for the draft" option to officially become a contender.
  • Be chosen by a team. At this point, your fate is out of your hands. After entering the draft, you have to hope a team chooses to recruit you, as this is the only way to become a professional basketball player. As long as you have solid stats, you should be scooped up pretty easily, which means you'll officially be a member of this elite career.

If you're someone who spends real money while playing BitLife, you can bypass all of these steps and go pro right away if you desire to do so. You can make this happen by selecting the Occupation button in the bottom left corner, followed by the Pro Athlete option to buy the job pack.

Becoming a pro basketball player is a crucial part of trials like the Mamba challenge, so if you haven't tackled this one yet, now is a great time to do so, since you know how to check off one of the key goals. If you're up for even more BitLife chaos, consider also working on becoming famous, completing the Kahlo My World challenge, learning to swim, and finishing the Titanic challenge.

Marathon launch cinematic

The fourth Marathon map, Cryo Archive, is coming very soon, meaning we can start to prepare to unlock it when it arrives.

Unlike maps like the Perimeter and Dire Marsh, beginners won't have immediate access to it. While the map isn't live as of writing, you can complete all the requirements already.

All Cryo Archive unlock requirements in Marathon

Unlocking the Cryo Archive map has got to do with the secret terminals that have popped up in Marathon. Ideally, you'll need to solve the ARG puzzle for the requirements. Thankfully, the conditions have already been decrypted, and here are the requirements.

  • Unlock all six factions (five since CyberAcme is already available at launch)
  • Reach Level 25

How to unlock all six factions

To unlock all available functions in the game, you'll have to complete their respective Introduction contracts.

All these quests appear as contracts once you complete the initial ones. Complete them, and you'll have unlocked all the factions in Marathon.

How to reach level 25 in Marathon

This is an easier, but lengthier, process. There's no shortcut, but you have to focus on finishing the contracts. When you finish a contract, you gain XP and Reps (the latter is required to improve your standing with different factions).

Keep gaining the XP until you reach Level 25, and you should be able to unlock Cryo Archive when the map is added to Marathon. To gain more XP, you should be active on your run. Killing runners, UESC enemies, and opening loot helps to get more experience points as well.

Mamba challenge art in bitlife

BitLife's weekly challenges often task you with making it big in certain careers, which can be tough to work through. The Mamba challenge is all about becoming a huge basketball star, and it's a pretty tricky trial to complete.

Becoming the best of the best in this field requires a lot of hard work and dedication. All of the goals featured in this one are difficult to check off, so here's how to complete the Mamba challenge in BitLife.

BitLife Mamba challenge walkthrough

Mamba challenge goals in bitlife
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Mamba challenge has five key goals you need to work through to complete it, which are:

Become a pro basketball player in BitLife

The first mission in this challenge is to become a pro basketball player, and it can take the longest to check off. To succeed here, you'll need to start making the right choices from a very young age.

As you navigate through school, focus on getting good grades and keeping both your Smarts and Health high. Do lots of athletic activities, like going to the gym, going on a walk, and performing martial arts, as often as you can to build your athleticism.

Joining basketball team in bitlife.

Proceed through school until you reach middle school, at which point you can apply for and join the Basketball Team. As long as your athleticism and Health are high, you should get in. If you don't, keep building the required stats and try again. Once you get to high school, join the Basketball Team there, too.

If you give basketball your all in school, you'll hopefully be offered a scholarship to continue playing at university. If not, make sure you join the team again at this point and continue to give it your all for a few years. Once it's time to graduate, you may receive an offer allowing you to enter the draft. Accept this offer to try to go pro. Hopefully, a team will scoop you up at this point, officially making you a professional basketball player.

Trash-talk 3+ opponents in BitLife

Now that you're a pro, it's time to trash-talk three of your opponents. This is a tough mission to get done, as there's a lot of luck and randomness involved with it. While practicing basketball for your career or competing in matches, you may sometimes get a pop-up telling you that a player from another team has done or said something. In response, you may have the option to trash-talk them. Anytime you see this option, choose it, as you need to trash-talk a total of three times to check off this goal.

Win 5+ championships in BitLife

Next up, you need to try to win five championships. This goal takes a while to get done. To increase your odds of successfully completing it, work hard at your career, practicing frequently while still keeping your Smarts and Health stats up as much as possible. Move around between teams if you're given offers to join ones that seem to be doing better, as your odds of winning go up with better ones.

There's no way to guarantee your team wins a championship. All you can do is give it your all until you eventually get a pop-up letting you know your team has won one. This may happen anytime you age up while in this career. You need five championships to complete this goal.

Championship awarded bitlife
Screenshot by Destructoid

Win an MVP award in BitLife

Next, you need to win an MVP award. This is another goal that is fairly random and based mostly on luck, although there are ways to improve your odds. Practice a lot and do all you can to help your team succeed in matches. Continue to keep your key stats high so you succeed.

If you do all this, there's a chance you may receive an MVP award at any point, especially if your contribution bar is high when you win a championship. It may take many seasons over many years to achieve one, though.

Get inducted into the Hall of Fame in BitLife

The final goal in this challenge is to get inducted into the Hall of Fame. Like most of the quests in this trial, luck and randomness are huge factors here. This is one of the hardest missions to get done, as you must have an overall very successful basketball career over a long period of time to potentially get this offer. Still, it's quite random, so there's no way to guarantee you get it.

To increase your odds of getting inducted, all you can do is give your career everything you've got, practicing frequently, keeping your stats high, and trying to help your team succeed whenever possible. At any point deep into your career, you may get a pop-up asking you to attend a ceremony inducting you into the hall of fame. Be sure to attend when prompted to check this goal off, officially completing the Mamba challenge.

If you're looking for more tricky tasks to get done after finishing this trial, BitLife has plenty of other ones to choose from. Next, you might work on the Kahlo My World challenge, learn how to become famous, complete the Titanic challenge, and attempt to survive a shipwreck.

Spaceport Tower in ARC Raiders

The Week 20 Trials in ARC Raiders are now live, and it has a difficult task to complete: getting hit by lightning.

Ideally, you should stay as far away as possible from a lightning strike. They do an incredible amount of damage, and you can get trapped in them. But you'll need to get struck by lightning if you want to get three stars on your trials.

How to get struck by lightning in ARC Raiders

To get struck by lightning, you need to start a fresh round on the Spaceport map when the Electromagnetic Storm modifier is active. Like all other modifiers, the Electromagnetic Storm appears in rotation, so it won't be available at all times. You can also participate in other maps, but most tasks of the current trials require you to play on Spaceport.

Week 20 Trials
Image via Embark

When the modifier is active, you'll notice blue spots appearing on the map at random locations. The blue spot is where the lightning will strike. To get stuck by lightning, stand at the spot, and wait for it to strike. You can also just walk into a spot that has been hit by lightning, and that will also count for the trials.

Lightning Strike in ARC Raiders
Image via Embark

I have also noticed that when you remain stationary in the open for a period of time, you raise the chances of getting hit by lightning. This is purely my experience, and I haven't found any evidence for or against this notion. However, it can't hurt to try out this theory if you're not getting struck by lightning.

When you get stuck by lightning, you will take a lot of damage. Here are some key items to bring with you.

  • At least 15 Bandages/Herbal Bandages to restore the health that you lose.
  • Shield Recharges to repair the shields.
  • Medium shield is preferable as it has higher hit points.
  • A couple of new shields, since your older ones can break completely if you get struck by multiple lightning strikes in the same round.

That's pretty much all you need to do to get hit by lightning deliberately. The Week 20 Trials have four more tasks, and this guide will help you get three stars.

hooked skills tier list and guide

Looking for the best skills in Roblox Hooked!? In a game where the base movement speed is slow the best skills are the mobility ones for both dodging and repositioning for your own hooks. I ranked all skills in the game from S-Tier to C-Tier for an easy overview. Here's my Roblox Hooked Skills tier list and guide.

Best Skills in Hooked Roblox

roblox hooked skill tier list

The best skills in Hooked are currently the mobility skills since it's so powerful to be able to move faster in this game where base movement is slow. That said, there are also some strong offensive and supporting options for teamfights. In general, the most powerful options are in S and A-Tier with B-Tier being situonally strong skills and C-Tier being weaker options. There's currently no useless skills since each skill can be good in some situation so no D-Tier abilities as of yet.

Base & Premium Skill Chances

Common 74.29% / 0%

Uncommon 20% / 20%

Rare 4.45% / 55.60%

Epic 1% / 20%

S-Tier Skills

S-Tier Skills Ranking Breakdown

Bolt Dash & Base Dash
Rare & Common
• Dashing is the best ability in Hooked so far since everyone is so slow
• It's useful for both dodging hooks but also dashing up to and hitting a low HP enemy to finish them off
• The Bolt Dash is IMO more powerful due to a lower cooldown even though it's a bit shorter
• It makes up for the distance with flexibility since you can both use it more often and it's faster

Black Hole
Epic
• Black Hole is the most powerful offensive skill in the game
• You can use it to pull people into gaps and holes
• Plus it deals damage to finish off low HP enemies or set up a hook and slash oneshot combo
• The area is massive too so it's great for teamfights

Heal
Uncommon
• Heal is the most powerful team-wise defensive skill in the game
• It has so many uses from healing yourself to hooking and healing a teammate to providing healing to your entire team if they're close
• That said as with any non-Dash defensive skill, you'll have to learn to dodge hooks well

A-Tier Skills

A-Tier Skills Ranking Breakdown

Big Bomb
Rare
• Such a powerful and impactful offensive ability that's weaker than Black Hole since there's more counterplay
• That said you can nuke two or three people sometimes with it so just make sure to learn movement well so you can get close

Multi-Hook
Rare
• Makes landing Hooks drastically easier
• Devastating in large teamfights
• In smaller fights it's situational but still good

Swiftstep
Common
• Mobility is really strong in Hooked so even the weakest mobility skill is still pretty good
• Allows you both to dodge hooks, position for hooks and chase low HP enemies

B-Tier Skills

B-Tier Skills Ranking Breakdown

Meteor
Rare
• Meteor has two uses that are pretty fun but more situational than other offensive abilities which is why it's lower
• The first is that it can be a good finisher for a hook and slash combo to finish off a low HP enemies
• The second is that you can use it to push people into hazards like on the lava level
• Fun to use

Golden Stance
Uncommon
• Golden Stance can be situationally really strong
• You get self-sustain healing
• Plus you get to ignore attacks and some hazards like on the lava level
• That said experienced players will spot that you're using this, wait briefly and hook slightly before it ends so that you get punished
• But if you're facing noobs you can dominate with Golden Stance

C-Tier Skills

C-Tier Skills Ranking Breakdown

Shadow Veil
Rare
• Shadow Veil is on the weaker side of abilities
• That said the invisibility can still be useful for escaping or setting up hooks that are easier to land

Wall
Common
• Wall is a bit more underwhelming than it's supposed to be
• But you can still save yourself or other teammates from stay hooks
• The downside is that dashing works way better for yourself and there are better team-support abilities

Ink Bomb
Common
• Decent defensive utility but enemies can still hook your through it if they play smart
• There are stronger options

That's it for my guide on the Roblox Hooked skills tier list. Check out our Hooked Codes for free gold in the game so that you can unlock the best skills faster.

A couple of Bombardiers in ARC Raiders fighting in a swamp.

The ARC Raiders Week 20 Trials are now live, and we have five fresh tasks to complete. One of these tasks appears to be quite dangerous, so let's look at how to complete all the tasks to get the required star ratings.

ARC Raiders Week 20 Trials guide

Here are the five tasks for Week 20.

  • Deliver Carriables
  • Damage Hornets
  • Damage Bombardiers
  • Damage flying ARC inside the walls
  • Get hit by lightning

Deliver Carriables

Field Depots on Spaceport
Screenshot and remix by Destructoid

The first task involves finding carriables along the map and then delivering them to Field Depots. Doing so gets you different rewards, which can also include blueprints if you're lucky. When you're carrying a deliverable, you won't be able to use any weapons. Hence, you should be careful about nearby enemies when delivering a carriable to a Field Depot.

You'll find all the Field Depots on Spaceport in the image above. However, you'll find Field Depots on all maps. The carriables usually tend to be within a 100m radius from the depots.

Damage Hornets

Next, we have to go head-to-head against one of the peskier flying ARCs. Hornets are bigger than Wasps, and they have stronger armor. You can find them pretty easily all around the map. They're also common at exfil locations.

To take down a Hornet, aim for its rear rotors. That will destabilize the Hornet and make it easier for you to take them down. Using the Hullcracker is a great option as a couple of shots are usually enough. However, you can also use the Anvil or the Renegade to take them down.

As a precaution, reserve your energy for the Hornet to aim at you. Then, use your dodge roll to escape from getting hit.

Damage Bombardiers

Bombardier location in Spaceport
Bombardier locations on Spaceport. Screenshot and remix by Destructoid

Bombardiers are one of the most dangerous ARCs. You can find them on all maps, but the easiest way to fight is to participate in a Matriarch hunt. Bombardiers will always spawn near the Matriarch to protect it.

To damage the Bombardier, you'll need to take out the Spotters first. This will protect you from its rockets. Next, you can use weapons like the Aphelion or the Jupiter to destroy the Bombardier. The Hullcracker also works pretty well, as a few shots are enough to take it down. You can also use the Renegade, but you'll need to engage from a distance.

Damage flying ARC inside the walls

Screenshot and remix by Destructoid

This task is new, and it's open for interpretation as of writing. However, it likely requires you to target flying enemies when they're within the walled areas of Spaceport. That's almost the entire map, barring the outskirts, and you can target any flying ARC.

For your convenience, I have marked what the wall actually looks like on the map. If you're in a round on the Spaceport map, you'll find the massive walls on the perimeter.

Get hit by lightning

This task is currently being tested as it's a completely new one. I will add the instructions once I have figured out the exact step and strategy for getting hit by lightning. One step is to start a round on the Spaceport map when the Electromagnetic Storm map event is active.

Look out for glowing blue spots on the ground where the next lightning is supposed to strike. Stand on it and wait to get hit. Once done, heal your shields and health to avoid death. However, there should be another way based on the official hint as revealed by Embark.
