3/20 It's National Proposal Day - And We're Celebrating YOU 💍| Will he/she propose TODAY? | | Mr. and Mrs. Cubic Zirconia here with a special message TODAY, dear reader.
In a world that can seem obsessed with made-up holidays (National Hamburger Day, Ice Cream Month, some would say Valentine's Day)...one afternoon in 2013 we were talking and had an idea we thought was original. We thought it was about time we celebrated a truly majestic day, magical and momentous: ===> The day he proposed to her. ===> The day she proposed to him. ===> (And yes, the day she proposed to her and he to him). Rather than a government holiday, though, the day a couple gets engaged is personal. We wondered, friend: should we really try to turn that into some sort of quasi-holiday like "International Donut Day"? As we were doing some light research on the idea, we came across this... | | Finding that there was already a semi-official "National Proposal Day" kind of took the wind out of our sails to create our own. Though we must admit we felt the holiday creator's thinking that went into which day to choose was pretty clever: "Proposal Day" takes place on the vernal equinox, as winter begins to become spring, a day when even the heavens seem ripe with the promise of new beginnings (on an equinox day, the stars and planets align in a certain way that only happens twice per year). On March 20th, the days and nights balance, and National Proposal Day offers an equal opportunity for a marriage proposal. For many, this is the day they've been waiting patiently to arrive without success or satisfaction. Now, sometimes we'll send out an email about it in a given year, but we're not really a big participant in the whole "National Proposal Day" thing. Even though Mr. O'Loughlin is credited as the original thinker behind the holiday, you'll never convince us the holiday wasn't really popularized by that Tom Shane guy from the radio ads. But we're feeling a little too lazy to research that. So if you buy today, cool. If you propose to her today, great. If you propose to him today, awesome. Just consider this a non-pushy, non-salesy reminder that life does indeed pass quickly– and if you've thought of getting engaged, but haven't, perhaps the gentle nudge of March 20th National Proposal Day is a good one.
After all, the stars and planets are aligned... | | Thanks in advance for your continued purchases and referrals.
