The human colony on Tau Ceti IV has been abandoned for half a century, as far as anyone can tell. The only exports leaving the planet are those nabbed by Runners in mechanical bodies, like fruit pickers at the end of the universe. But there are imports, too, of a sort: elements pulled in from other extraction shooters, which reveal the kind of experience Bungie wanted to make.

Namely, a stealth game.

Review: Homura: The Crimson Warriors Is Another IFI Historical Otome

Idea Factory and Otomate are pretty great about releasing different types of otome visual novels that cover various themes, and they're well known for their historical ones. I mean, they're responsible for titles like Birushana and Hakuoki. Players who adore otome games with historical elements and combat will find Homura: The Crimson Warriors offers exactly what they're looking for with Sengoku period romances. Those in search of a more comedic or romantic routes might want to go for something like Cupid Parasite or My Next Life as a Villainess.

As I mentioned earlier, this is a Sengoku era game, which takes place after the Battle of Sekigahara. Following the deaths of Masayuki Sanada and Rokuro Mochizuki, those who supported them suffer a major setback. Rokuro's daughter Mutsumi inherited his gift of reading the ring of energy and essence of the living (and dead) and trained as a ninja under Hakuunsai Tozawa, hoping to one day be of use to the exiled Nobushige (Yukimura) Sanada. After being sent by her master to assist Nobushige and his allies in their continued support of the Toyotomi, she finds a chance to be useful and perhaps fall in love with him or one of his allies as they prepare to face the Tokugawa shogunate and Ura Yagyu. However, that also means facing the unnatural Onibi Warriors.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8AkaDItKhQ

Remember how I said Homura: The Crimson Warriors is probably a game for folks who liked otome like Hakuoki earlier? Well, I'm guessing you see why now. Historical setting. Love interests based on real people like Juzo Kakei, Kamanosuke Yuri, Saizo Kirigaku, Sasuke Sarutobi, and Yukimura Sanada. Supernatural elements. Replace the Furies/Rasetsu with Onibi. Lots of focus on the conflict. It can feel very similar. That means if you enjoy these types of romantic visual novels that do pay attention to historical elements and weave them in with some fantasy elements, you are in for a treat. Especially since there is the Ring energy to see and take into account when making choices.

Don't take that to mean it feels like it is retreading old ground. Homura: The Crimson Warriors does feel unique. Its characters don't feel like they're copying the Shinsengumi from Hakuoki. It's just a similar sort of style and approach.

It also means that the more historical and dramatic elements can take precedence over actual relationship development sometimes and in some routes. It can be romantic for sure, and there are some paths where you can really see relationships develop well. (Specifically, I liked the Saizo and Kamanosuke ones best, though the Nobushige one is pretty good as long as the age gap doesn't bother you too.) I never felt like the romance came out of nowhere when it came to any of the love interests. Just expect a lot to happen that involves current conflicts in that time period. Especially when you get to Nobushige, which does feel like the "main" route and one you should play last.

I will say that after playing an Idea Factory and Otomate otome game that lacked quality of life features recently, it's great to come back to one that does have them with Homura: The Crimson Warriors. There is a glossary, which is a godsend given all the historical references and terms that come up as you play. It's very helpful and, since my Sengoku knowledge did come from other video games, I did make use of it. The ninja scroll chapter summaries are handy too. I didn't need that, since I went through three routes in a row basically. However, I could see that being handy if you return to play another storyline after stepping away for a bit. There is a love catch system available too. Again, another always handy option to see if you're making progress with the right person.

Homura: The Crimson Warriors is also a very pretty otome game, and the artistic direction does bring to mind Hakuoki and Birushana again. The fact that there are also alternate costumes for character for some portraits is a nice touch as well. The voice acting is fantastic. Also, it feels like a solid localization too.

Homura: The Crimson Warriors feels like an otome game for folks who loved Birushana and Hakuoki. The narrative and themes all follow similar courses. However, it does feel unique and like its own thing even with the whole supernatural enemy, warriors fighting back and rebelling, all while the sole female member of the group ends up being the sort of woman all of them could fall for. It's a fun story for folks who like a little history and supernatural side to their love stories.

Icebreaker foundation in fortnite

There are several special, bonus styles you can unlock on the Fortnite battle pass, but the process for getting each one looks different. One of the trickier outfits you can acquire is the Icebreaker Foundation look.

Since what needs to be done to unlock different bonus skins varies, figuring out how to get your hands on this one can be pretty tough. If you're struggling to work through it, here's how to get Icebreaker Foundation in Fortnite.

How to unlock Icebreaker Foundation in Fortnite

To unlock the Icebreaker Foundation style, as well as all of his corresponding bonus accessories, you need to obtain his two battle pass skins, unlock his quest series, and complete all of the missions in it. You need to get quite a lot done to get him, so this process will likely take you some time to complete. Luckily, you have the entire season to get it done, so there's no rush.

How to unlock Icebreaker Foundation quests in Fortnite

To unlock the quests tied to the Icebreaker Foundation look, which is The Foundation (Reforged) quest series, you need to obtain all the Foundation Outfits from the battle pass. This includes his two base looks, which are The Foundation (Reforged) and New Classic Foundation.

You can't get both without unlocking the accessory items across these pages, too, so in total, you'll need to gain enough levels to acquire 12 battle pass rewards. Once you've got all these items unlocked, the quest series that's tied to the Icebreaker Foundation look will unlock, allowing you to get started on getting him.

Pocahontas standing with two players in the whispers of the wind update in disney dreamlight valley

The last missing princess is finally making her way to the valley in Disney Dreamlight Valley's upcoming major update, Whispers of the Wind. If you're eager to meet her and get her set up in your village, you'll need to know when it's launching.

Big updates like this one bring plenty of exciting, fresh additions to the valley, granting all players lots to explore. To ensure you're ready to dive in as soon as possible, here's the exact time and date when the Whispers of the Wind update will be released for Disney Dreamlight Valley.

When is the Whispers of the Wind update in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Whispers of the Wind update for DDV officially launches on April 8. Exact update release times are never shared ahead of time, but luckily, DDV sticks to a very consistent and reliable release schedule, which means this one should go live at 8am CT.

This is the precise time all past major updates have been released, except for a few unexpected delays years ago. As long as everything goes according to plan, you can expect the update to be available to install and play at exactly this time.

[hurrytimer id="1200601"]

  • PT: 6am on April 8
  • CT: 8am on April 8
  • ET: 9am on April 8
  • BST: 2pm on April 8
  • CEST: 3pm on April 8
  • JST: 10pm on April 8
  • AEST: 11pm on April 8

When is Pocahontas coming to Disney Dreamling Valley?

Pocahontas is arriving in the Whispers of the Wind update, which launches on April 8. The entire update is themed around her arrival, so she's the star of the show for this one. You'll be able to get her soon after it arrives by working through some new missions that involve discovering the mystery of the wind with the help of Moana to rescue Pocahontas.

The main big arrival in the Whispers of the Wind update is Pocahontas, but there are also plenty of other exciting features coming to the valley with her. Here's everything we know is included in this update.

  • One new character – Pocahontas arrives in this update. She doesn't seem to have an unlockable Realm with her, and instead can be found by venturing to a new location nearby the island, similar to the process of unlocking Ariel with Ariel's boat by Skull Rock.
  • New Companions – Some adorable critters from Pocahontas are joining the valley. First up is Meeko, who will be unlockable throughout additional missions you can tackle, likely similar to the steps you have to take to unlock Pluto. Percy is also arriving, but he'll only be obtainable through the Premium Shop.
  • New Star Path event – The Elements of Nature Star Path arrives in this update, bringing a vast new collection of rewards you can earn. Some of the items that have been teased include a lava outfit, a pink fairy dress, a volcano, a flower crown Dream Style for Nala, a giant lotus flower house, and a Mossy Sea Turtle Companion.
  • Olaf's Grand Exhibition – An exciting new building opens up, which is Olaf's Grand Exhibition. This structure is basically DDV's own version of a museum, which means you can collect items from around the village and place them on display here to highlight your progress.
  • New story quests – A new adventure begins in the valley with a fresh adventure packed with "mischief and mayhem." It's unclear exactly what this means, but new quests have been teased, starting with investigating a strange new door in the Dream Castle and a "mystifying figure" lurking around.
  • New and rerun events – A new Spring Floating Festival event, similar in style to The Winter Floating Festival and The Haunted Floating Festival, debuts in this update. It'll be available to play from April 29 to May 19. The Treasure Hunt event is also back for another run from May 27 to June 9.

There's still a bit of time before the Whispers of the Wind update arrives, so be sure to wrap up anything you haven't completed yet. Some big events will be ending around the time the next update arrives, like the Paw-fect Romance Star Path and the Eggstravaganza event.

A player with pink hair and a purple outfit riding on the shoulders of dany, a character with white hair and a black dress in fortnite

Sometimes, the missiosn you're tasked with working through for the main storyline in Fortnite are kind of wacky and weird. This is the case with the ride on a player's shoulders to gather intel on their movements.

Although this mission seems silly, it's also a pretty tricky one to check off, as there's a good chance you've never used this interaction before. It's quite hidden, and not one you're likely to be familair with, making this mission a lot tougher than you might expect. Luckily, it's quite doable once you know where to look, so here's how to ride on a player's shoulders to gather intel on their movements in Fortnite.

Ride on a player's shoulders to gather intel on their movements in Fortnite

Ride on players shoulders option marked in fortnite
Screenshot and remix by Destructoid

You can ride on a player's shoulders to gather intel by selecting the Shoulder Ride option from the Social Interaction page in Fortnite. It can be a bit tricky to find, especially if you've never used it before, so here's a full breakdown of how to make it happen.

  • Select a match type with two or more players. This feat cannot be completed when you're playing alone, so the first step is choosing to play with others. You can either work on this task with friends who join your lobby, or matchmake with random players. Either option works, but it's a lot easier to get this quest done with people you know, as communicating with your team that you need to complete this task can be difficult otherwise.
  • Land on the main island. This option is available in the lobby area, too, but using it there won't actually count for the mission. Because of this, be sure to wait until you've actually landed on the main Chapter Seven, season two map. Stick close to your team, too, as you'll need them around to make it happen.
  • Have a teammate trigger the Shoulder Ride option. This is where things get difficult. For the purposes of this mission, you need to be the one riding on a teammates shoulders, not the one giving the ride. Because of this, your teammate needs to offer you a ride. They can do so by holding down the emote button, switching over to the Social Interactions page, and selecting the Shoulder Ride action.
  • Accept the Shoulder Ride. Approach your teammate when they have the glowing blue arrow over their head and are gesturing to their back. Once you're by them, select the button that appears next to the "Shoulder Ride" text to hop on their back. As soon as you do, the quest will be complete.
  • Repeat this process for any teammates who also want to check off the quest. Once you've got it done, consider triggering a Shoulder Ride yourself so your allies can hop on and get this mission done, too.

Now that your ally has helped you get this mission done for Hope and The Order, you can focus your time on other tricky feats waiting to be tackled around the island. If you're unsure what to work on next, some key missions worth completing are decrypting a recording from The Imagined at a holotable, finding The Foundation's lost helmet and cape, collecting all Chaos Cubes, and using the Jam Track Player.

Posing by a holotable with an active hologram of the imagined in fortnite

Hope and The Order need your help, which means they've got a complex collection of missions for you to tackle all across the island in Fortnite. One such mission tasks you with decrypting a recording from The Imagined at a holotable.

Although you're told to decode this message, you're not given any information on where holotables can be found. The island is quite large, with plenty of unique interactables all around it, so getting this task done can be tricky. If you're having trouble with it, here's how to decrypt a recording from The Imagined at a holotable in Fortnite.

Holotable locations in Fortnite

Holotable map locations marked in fortnite
Screenshot and remix by Destructoid

There are four holotables situated around the Chapter Seven, season two map. They're all pretty spread out around the island, which means it's fairly easy to make your way to any of them regardless of where you are. The four holotables you can find and interact with are as follows.

  • Slightly south of Humble Hills.
  • Near the east end of New Sanctuary, fairly close to the edge of the island.
  • Slightly northwest of Sandy Strip.
  • East of Wonkeeland and west of Frigid Fortress.

Regardless of which location you choose to venture to, you're looking for a blue table surrounded by technology. The holotable is inside a building at all of these locations. To pinpoint precisely where it is, look for the white diamond icon once you're in the general right area, as the table will always be marked with this once you're in the general vicinity of it.

Decrypt a recording from The Imagined at a holotable in Fortnite

Once you've made your way to any holotable on the island, approach it and hold down the button that appears next to the "Decrypt Message" option to officially decode the recording from The Imagined. This button varies by platform, but is always displayed by the table once you're next to it, making it quite easy to trigger once you find one. As soon as you activate this option, a hologram of The Imagined will appear on the table, and some key main storyline dialogue will play.

The decrypt a recording from The Imagined at a holotable quest will be completed as soon as the hologram appears, but be sure to stick close to it to hear the full dialogue if you want to keep up with the main storyline. And once this mission is out of the way, you're ready to move on to other key feats around the island, like checking the monitoring reports at Frigid Fortress, finding The Foundation's lost helmet and capecollecting all Chaos Cubesusing the Jam Track Player, and getting The Foundation's Rift Rifle.
