Fans burned by Diablo Immortal excited by Diablo 3 season 27

While many longtime series fans have made the decision to quit playing Diablo Immortal, some of them aren't letting that get in the way of their love of loot, and are instead looking forward to the Diablo 3 season 27 release date. The ARPG game's newest seasonal update is getting some players excited with the release of the PTR preview and update 2.7.4 patch notes, which feature a new item called Angelic Crucibles that can apply unique class-specific sanctified powers to your build.

The biggest highlight from the Diablo 3 season 27 update that arrives on the PTR on July 12, Angelic Crucibles are artifacts that can be used to 'sanctify' any equippable level 70 legendary item. Sanctified items gain two specific benefits - firstly, they are reforged to have perfect ancient-level stats on all the item's affixes while still preserving its legendary power. The real excitement, however, comes from the addition of one of three new, unique, class-specific powers to the sanctified item.

Each class has three sanctified powers to choose from. For example, the Barbarian's first option causes whirlwind to pull in and hold nearby enemies. The second causes the powerful Hammer of the Ancients ability to hit in all directions and applies a shockwave effect to every seventh cast. The third generates Tempest Rhythm stacks when hitting enemies, which can then be consumed using Wrath of the Beserker to debuff all nearby enemies, causing them to take increased damage based on the number of stacks.

Elden Ring dev's website is now Armored Core, suspiciously

It was recently confirmed by Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki that the next From Software game is currently in the "final stages" of development and the most likely candidate is a new Armored Core game. Now, to add fuel to the fire, the official From Software website has received a rebrand - to 'Armored Core.'

We've known since 2016 that From Software has had at least three games in development, with two being Sekiro and Elden Ring. The third is still a mystery but in a recent interview, Miyazaki suggests it is close to completion - and a survey sent out in January showed screenshots, details, and even footage of a "third-person shooter mecha action title."

With Armored Core 6 possibly about to get an imminent announcement, the community was somewhat shocked to discover that the official From Software website appears to have been renamed "Armored Core" on Google - igniting speculation, especially as the series isn't even first up on the page.

Genshin Impact 3.0 Dendro element explained in Sumeru teaser

Hoyoverse has now released a new Sumeru teaser video featuring several of the anime game's developers explaining the Geshin Impact 3.0 Dendro element. This isn't the first we've seen of Dendro - with several notable leaks occurring in recent weeks - but this more official look breaks down some of the design process that went into implementing it into the open-world game. The element is described as the "last piece of the puzzle in Genshin Impact's seven element system," and the team at Hoyoverse says that it was built very much with synergy in mind.

Genshin Impact combat designer Aquaria points to three key terms that directed the design of the Dendro element - "catalysis, wisdom, and life." The Greek term 'dendro' means tree, which helps to convey that sense of growth and nature that Hoyoverse seems to be aiming for. Dendro is already present in Genshin Impact and is used for items such as grass, shrubs, and wooden barrels - all of which react to Pyro elemental attacks by burning, as you might expect. It's also applied to several enemies with wooden shields that can be burnt away, as well the shy, overgrown Dendro slimes.

The arrival of the Sumeru region for update 3.0 brings with it playable new Dendro characters who will be able to wield the element themselves. For Hoyoverse, this meant designing new reactions to encourage players to utilise Genshin Impact's elemental synergies. Aquaria talks about how previous synergies such as Electro-Charged (the combination of Hydro and Electro to charge up and continuously zap wet enemies) are often based on everyday phenomena, but also combine their aspects - in this case, the recovery of Hydro and the energy of Electro.

Dishonored, Avatar writer is the new Fable 4 story lead

There's a new narrative lead in charge of the Fable 4 story, and they have a wide range of experience across an impressive variety of game series - such as Dishonored, Avatar, Guild Wars, Control, and even Littlest Pet Shop (yes Anna, I had to mention that).

Anna Megill joined Playground Games in February 2021 as lead writer on the new Fable RPG game, according to her LinkedIn page and enthusiastic tweets. Cut to July 2022 and she is now the narrative lead of the new Fable game's story, a position Megill previously held on Remedy's Control - a game PCGamesN praised for its storytelling, incidentally.

Aside from Control, Anna Megill also wrote for Ubisoft's upcoming Avatar game Frontiers of Pandora, the fantastic Dishonored: Death of the Outsider expansion, and both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. Oh, yes, and a Littlest Pet Shop Flash game too.

genshin impact sumeru

HoYoVerse released a short trailer for the upcoming Sumeru region and Dendro element in Genshin Impact. Sumeru will be part of Version 3.0, which will go live after the next update, Version 2.8. While Dendro is an existing element in the game, Sumeru will be the first time players will be able to use it. As well, Dendro will react with elements other than Pyro.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DjVUfy_Lng

The Sumeru trailer features the Genshin Impact development team discussing how it implemented and chose to design Dendro in the game. According to the trailer, the concepts 'catalysis, wisdom, and life' were key in how the team designed the elemental reactions, level designs, and environmental puzzles. An example of a Sumeru environmental mechanic seems to be a mushroom that the Traveler can jump on like a trampoline.

Version 3.0 will introduce the Bloom and Catalyze reactions. Bloom is Hydro and Dendro, while Catalyze is Electro and Dendro. The video does not explain what the reactions do. However, it does mention that you will be able to use elements to alter states of Dendro objects and monsters. Depending on the state, Dendro monsters will have different attacks, as well as drop different items.

Genshin Impact is readily available on PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. A Nintendo Switch version is in the work. Version 2.8 will launch on July 13, 2022, with Sumeru appearing in Genshin Impact 3.0. There is no confirmed release date as of yet for Version 3.0.

FGO Summer 2022

The English edition of Fate/Grand Order will soon host its annual summer event, and this year's theme is a summer camp. The FGO Summer 2022 event is formally titled "Servant Summer Camp ~Chaldea's Thriller Night~".

Players will investigate a new singularity located in Japan. But it's not beach hijinks, this time. Instead, the Masters of Chaldea and their Servants will retreat to an idyllic lakeside cabin resort. Of course, there's more to the FGO Summer 2022 event than meets the eye. For with mountain vacationing comes the prospect of ghost stories.

Check out a trailer for the event below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaD6Nkt62As

Key to the FGO Summer 2022 event is Yu Mei-ren, star of Lostbelt No. 3. She's this year's free event Servant. She'll join the roster as a 4-Star Lancer-class character. As a former Chaldea master herself and the players' "Senpai", she'll assist during the event story. As for the event itself, it'll use a day-night cycle in its quest structure. Consequently, certain quests will be limited to certain times of the day, which is advanced alongside progress. Finally, objective-based missions can also be accomplished to further quest progress and unlock rewards.

With a new summer event comes new playable summer-themed Servants. The limited-time FGO Summer 2022 Servants split over two banners. One banner holds Summer Sessyoin Kiara, a 5-Star Mooncancer, and 4-Star variants of Illyasviel von Einzbern (an Archer) and Brynhilde (a Berserker). A second banner promotes Abigail Williams, a 5-Star Foreigner-class. Summer Abby is accompanied by two 4-Stars. Summer Tomoe Gozen is a Saber-class, nicknamed "Beat Saber Tomoe" by some fans. Murasaki Shikibu trades her Caster-class for a Rider designation.

Fans of male Servants aren't left in the dark this year either. Players can unlock summer-themed Spiritron Dress costumes for Sigurd, Emiya (Archer), and Prince of Lan Ling. A separate summon banner puts the three on rate-up.

Fate/Grand Order is available on iOS and Android devices. The FGO Summer 2022 event runs from July 12, 2022 until August 1, 2022.

Made in Abyss Binary Star

With the approach of Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness' English release date, Spike Chunsoft is revealing in more detail what the game's actually about. A new system trailer for Made in Abyss Binary Star debuted on the Spike Chunsoft official channel on July 7, 2022.

Check it out below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PTCae4rAfo

The Made in Abyss Binary Star system trailer lays out the game's structure in more detail. In particular, its two playable narrative modes are explained. "Hello Abyss" mode follows the plot of the anime, and stars Riko. Meanwhile "Deep in Abyss" mode stars a player-created character. Their name is "Aki", though players can customize this novice "Bell" Cave Raider. Deep in Abyss follows an original story written by Made in Abyss creator Akihito Tsukushi. It'll involve known characters from the series, though.

The trailer also laid out how players will progress the story in Made in Abyss Binary Star Falling into Darkness. First, they'll complete quests, which involve exploring the Abyss. Jiruo and the Cave Raider Guild issue most quests.

In keeping with the themes of the series, the Abyss is a dark, dangerous place. Even with adequate supplies, players will suffer from the Curse of the Abyss as they return to base. The curse intensifies the further they descend, and symptoms include vomiting, statistical penalties or bleeding from their orifices. This renders them vulnerable to environmental hazards and monster attacks.

Of course, the risks of Made in Abyss Binary Star are not without rewards. Successful expeditions net relics, which you can sell. Expeditions also reward experience used to level up. New story missions require Abyss exploration to unlock.

The Spike Chunsoft blog has more detail on the systems of Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness, and can be read at this link.

Made in Abyss will release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC on September 2, 2022. Crunchyroll hosts the second season of the anime adaptation, airing now.
