Jurassic World Evolution 2 is now upon us. With a few years more development time and no shortage of feedback on how to improve on the original game, I once again allowed myself to get excited at the prospect of actually managing a simulated Jurassic Park. That was a mistake.

Converting standard games into VR is rarely a recipe for greatness. Sure, a few fan mods have created fun ways to replay classic shooters like Quake in VR, but most 2D conversions don't feel like a great way to experience the original game. Victoria 3 is charting a new course in Paradox's grand strategy game space, and its wholly new vision for warfare may be among the most impactful changes on the way. In the latest dev diary, Paradox goes into some additional detail on how this new system is going to keep war interesting and challenging, without actually having you moving little unit counters around the map.
What's perhaps most fascinating about this week's dev diary is its revelations into how Victoria 3 will be treating your military. There are several key components to an army in Victoria 3, and each of them plug into other aspects of the game. Generals, for example, are political individuals who represent certain interest groups, using influence to lend clout to their chosen causes. Your armies will draw from local resources, the flow of which are governed by your infrastructure and production base.
Like other Pops, servicemen and officers work in buildings - specifically, barracks and conscription centres. These buildings produce battalions, which are Victoria 3's basic military unit, consuming resources that depend on things like your Army Model Law and the technology used in your military. Since they use the same logic as every other production facility, they'll be impacted by factors like market access and the availability of finished goods across your economy.

Halo Infinite is going open-world, but not that open-world. A round of campaign previews from various outlets have dropped today, and the game's broad structure is starting to make sense. While early looks at the campaign suggested something akin to a Far Cry, it sounds like Halo Infinite is essentially going to be in the same format as previous series campaigns, just with all the individual missions stitched together into a larger whole.
Zeta Halo, the game's setting, is made up of discrete landmasses divided by impassable terrain like canyons, as detailed in IGN's video preview. You'll gain access to new chunks of the world as you play, and as Game Informer's preview suggests, you'll be able to return to previously-unlocked areas to search out new secrets.
Things will likely become more open-ended as you acquire things like flying vehicles, but it looks like Infinite will play like a fairly traditional Halo campaign as you're progressing the story. Major story encounters will take you into discrete, mostly linear areas, which IGN likens to dungeons.

A controller modder has managed to play Final Fantasy XIV's Machinist class using pistol controllers from a special edition of Final Fantasy X-2. It's undoubtedly one of the more immersive ways we've seen someone play the job in the popular MMORPG.
YouTuber Louis 'Super Louis 64' Hamilton got his hands on an FFX-2 controller that's modelled after protagonist Yuna's Tiny Bee pistols. He explains on Twitter that he wanted to make a controller that made spamming the Machinist's Hypercharge ability "super fun by shooting like Devil May Cry 2" but went "too far" and developed a queuing system so he could pull off full-blown rotations.
"The triggers were first mapped to the RT and LT buttons to pull up the sub-menus for the ability," Hamilton explains. "I had to reprogram the guns themselves to actually work in FFXIV. Using the controller's d-pad, we can set up a combo that pressing the trigger would do. For example, pressing left on the d-pad queues up all left d-pad abilities whenever I pull the trigger."

Forza Horizon 5 has speedily overtaken all other racing games on PC, with over three million players across Steam and Xbox. However, even those with the best PC steering wheels will struggle to match the setup LG and Xbox created in celebration of the game's launch.
In a special pre-launch event, a select few fans were invited to a secret location in Surrey, England, where they had the chance to play Forza Horizon 5 on a seriously cool 4D setup. It boasted a custom driving pod, including a full racing chair and steering wheel control, complemented by a triple monitor setup of LG OLEDs, surround sound, with fans and aromas to boot.
In our Forza Horzion 5 review, we said it's "polished to a degree that hardly seems possible" and it's hard not to say the same about this setup put together by LG and Microsoft. LG OLEDs make for some of the best gaming monitors you can buy, thanks to their 120Hz panels, GSync support, and HDMI 2.1 ports, but it's worth mentioning that they require a greater deal of care due to the risk of irreversible image retention.

Call of Duty: Vanguard came under fire after players discovered pages of the Quran scattered on the floor in its Zombies mode map. Activision has apologised and said the content has now been removed, while acknowledging that it never should have appeared in the FPS game to begin with.
On November 10, an Arabic-speaking Twitter user posted images from Vanguard's Der Anfang Zombies map that showed various documents scattered across the floor. These include several pages from the Islamic holy text, spattered in blood and placed in areas where players and zombies are free to walk on them.
Publisher Activision released a statement to Dexerto today acknowledging the disrespectful content. "Call of Duty is made for everyone," the company said. "There was insensitive content to the Muslim community mistakenly included last week, and has since been removed from the game. It should never have appeared as it did in-game. We deeply apologise. We are taking immediate steps internally to address the situation to prevent such occurrences in the future."

Skyrim fans, rejoice! It's the iconic fantasy game's tenth anniversary today and there's a very big, official celebration of this with the launch of its Anniversary Edition, as well as a fan celebration and concert streaming later today. Fans are showing their love for the behemoth RPG in their own ways, too - and we decided to round up some of the ones that caught our eye in honour of Skyrim's birthday.
First up, Redditor HarryOsbornArt has shared the full range of 12 artworks they've created to celebrate the game's decade out in the wild, each of which centres on one of the many distinctive helmets found in the game. You can check these out via the embed below - and, as the Bethesda ANZ Twitter account recently posted, they do indeed look incredible.
Starting with the classic Dragonborn helmet seen across the game's trailers and marketing materials embedded in the snow - apt given the game's set in Tamriel's frostiest climes - there are plenty of other gorgeous artworks drawing on various armour themes. There's the Eastmarch guards' kit, gleaming golden Dwarven armour, and (my absolute favourite) Nordic Carved armour.

Amazon Games Studios has unveiled the next weapon arriving in New World - the Void Gauntlet. It's the first New World weapon to be introduced since the MMO game was released, and players are already testing it out on the New World public test server, where the next big update is live for players to test out.
The Void Gauntlet is a magic weapon that shoots ranged projectiles that deal - unsurprisingly - Void damage. It's not an exclusively ranged weapon, though, as it can also summon a Void Blade that performs melee attacks. Holding 'block' converts your health into mana over time. This may seem like a dangerous trade off, but crucially, several Void Gauntlet abilities provide healing to yourself and allies - making it the only other source of healing in the game aside from the Life Staff. Healing is in high demand in New World, so the Void Gauntlet introduces some much-needed variety in this area.
The gauntlet scales with both Intelligence and Focus. From initial testing, it looks like Intelligence provides the most damage scaling, while Focus is needed for secondary damage scaling and provides all the scaling for the gauntlet's healing skills. The weapon is still being tested on the PTR, so everything we know is subject to change between now and the Void Gauntlet release date.

So you want to know about Humankind mods? The new 4X game's mod scene is pretty nascant at the moment, the Civilization-challenger has only been out since August, and mod tools were only released in beta form in early November. As such, the most prominent downloads are map mods at the moment, but we're finally starting to get some cool new toys to play with.
Developer Amplitude has partnered with mod.io, an up-and-coming third party service founded by the creator of ModDB. It's a service mainly aimed at making the downloading and installation of mods easier, rather than effecting the kind of mod tools that Amplitude has put out, but it's important to understand how this system works so that you know how to go and grab things that your eye. There's a quick primer you can read if you want the basics.
At the time of writing, there's nearly 700 mods on Humankind's mod.io page, although a lot of them are map mods as tools to create custom maps have been out pretty muchs since the strategy game released.

It's Thursday, and you know what that means – another round of free PC games from the Epic Games Store. This week, you can grab Tiny Tina's Assault of Dragon's Keep and Rogue Company's Season 4 Epic Pack. As ever, Epic has revealed next week's freebies, too. You're getting three indie games the next time around, so there's plenty to keep you busy until the week following at the least.
You'll be able to grab Guild of Dungeoneering, Kid A Mnesia Exhibition, and Never Alone from the usual Epic Games Store promotion page on Thursday, November 18 at 8am PDT / 11am EDT / 4pm GMT. They'll be there for one full week, at which point they'll be replaced by another freebie - or freebies, if you're lucky. As always, you'll 'purchase' the games at a price of zero dollars, and it'll remain in your library just like any game you might pay money for.
Here's the Never Alone blurb from the Epic Store page, to give you a taste: "Never Alone is an atmospheric puzzle platformer developed in collaboration with the Iñupiat, an Alaska Native people, drawn from a traditional story that has been shared across the generations. Guide both characters in single-player mode or play cooperatively with a friend as you trek through frozen tundra, leap across treacherous ice floes, swim through underwater caverns and face enemies both strange and familiar."

Themed gaming chairs aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they serve as a great way of injecting your gaming PC setup with a tribute to your favourite game. Yet, while promotional products like Secretlabs' League of Legends Titan Evo 2022 Series stand proud with a bold design and vibrant colours, Noblechairs' furniture homage to Skyrim's 10th anniversary takes a more minimalist approach.
Embellished with the Dragonborn's words of power and the game's iconic Seal of Akatosh on the headrest, Noblechairs' Skyrim seat is a subtle, but stylish tribute to the iconic RPG. Naturally, the celebratory chair also includes an arrow to the knee easter egg embossed on the side, which maintains the decade-old meme without actually comprising comfort through injury. While this isn't the German company's first shot at an Elder Scrolls themed throne, this 10th anniversary gaming chair's understated design arguably adds to its appeal.
Noblechairs' Nordic chair has both style and substance, as it embraces ergonomic features like 4D armrests, lumbar support, and an adjustable backrest that should help you traverse Tamriel for longer. Just like the company's other seating arrangements, the 10th anniversary edition Hero entry boasts a steel frame, pleasing PU leather, and a robust aluminium base that should keep you grounded during lengthy PC gaming sessions.

Want to know about every gun landing in Battlefield 2042? Unlike other games in the series, Battlefield 2042 scraps the traditional class system which ties weapons to specific classes - If you wanted to use an SMG in Battlefield 5, you were forced to pick the Medic class even if you had no intention of healing or reviving dead teammates.
The new Battlefield 2042 Specialist system allows players to pick the weapons they want, alongside the gadget and trait that suits them best. This also opens up Battlefield to different types of classes other than the usual Recon, Support, Assault, and Medic archetypes. Four Specialist roles have been revealed so far, but the developers have stated Battlefield 2042 will launch with ten.
There's also the 'Plus System' in Battlefield 2042 that gives players the ability to change their weapon attachments on the fly. If your assault rifle has an ACOG scope that isn't needed on a close quarters map, remove the optics and revert back to iron sights to get a clearer shot. Here are all the guns in Battlefield 2042 so far.

The Microsoft storefront has come a long way since the dark age of Games for Windows Live, but the Xbox App still has a few restrictive quirks related to file accessibility. Thankfully, it looks like Windows game folder restrictions might soon be a thing of the past, as a future update will remove the app's file structure shackles.
As reported by The Verge, the Xbox app for Windows will soon embrace a more open approach to game installation and file access. Much to the delight of the modder scene, this also means that games purchased via Microsoft's storefronts are now mod-friendly. While modding was possible on some purchased games, the upcoming update will facilitate the same level of access available through the likes of Steam.
According to The Verge's inside sources, Microsoft is still testing the new Xbox app, but its arrival should alleviate some of the woes associated with current file restrictions. Naturally, this means that users will be able to save game data in other locations, something that should make transferring save files between Xbox Game Pass and Steam easier than ever.

As announced during PDXCon Remixed back in May, we're finally getting a release date on prohibition-era strategy game Empire of Sin's upcoming expansion and free update. To recap the details, the expansion adds a new boss - Maxim Zelnick - for you can play as, as well as a new racket, new mobster classes, and new weapons and missions.
Meanwhile, the free 'Precinct' update looks to completely transform the sandbox game's strategic layer. The campaign map is going to be divided into precincts, and supply lines between them must be maintained to ensure your illicit goods get from one place to another. Central to this change is the new 'Depot' building, which is considered the hub of every precinct.
If you claim it, the precinct is yours, but battles here will be longer as reinforcements rush in to prevent you muscling in where you're not wanted. There are also going to be two new victory conditions, and the way the police work has been overhauled to tie in with the new precinct system and give you more feedback based on your activity, with more ways to interact with the force as an entity.

With the Battlefield 2042 release time coming up soon - very soon for those who've pre-ordered the Gold or Ultimate version - it's a good time to dig into what the critics have made of the FPS game ahead of its arrival. Good news, then, that a bunch of reviews in progress and early takes have begun rolling out - so let's see what the critics reckon of DICE's latest offering so far.
While there are some finished write-ups about, many of the big reviews are in-progress ones for the time being given Battlefield 2042's a live multiplayer game, so the 'full experience' isn't here yet. In our own in-progress Battlefield 2042 review, Christian Vaz notes that, "this is still a giant playground packed with catalysts and gadgets that are ready and waiting to be worked into a player-made set piece". He adds that, "it feels as cool as ever when you manage to create one of these in the middle of a match, and it's in these moments when Battlefield asserts itself in the multiplayer FPS space".
However, he does flag that he's still somewhat unsure about how the game will shape up on launch day, explaining that his experience diving in so far "varied wildly across three lengthy sessions", though is hopeful the niggles he encountered will get patched out soon. "When everything works, Battlefield 2042 is easily my favourite game in the series. But as of now, it doesn't always work," Christian says. Keep checking back as we'll have our full review of the game live soon.

Want to know what the best GTA Trilogy cheats are? Whether you're familiar with causing chaos in Rockstar's PlayStation 2 era open-world games or you're experiencing them for the first time, there comes a time where you just need to let your hair down and go wild with the many cool cheats available in each game.
If you want to pore over lists with every single cheat code in the GTAtrilogy, we've got you covered with guides for GTA 3 cheat codes, GTA Vice City cheat codes, and GTA San Andreas cheat codes that include every single PC cheat code available. However, unless you're looking for something specific, there's no need to wade through the entire list. Instead, we've put together a shortlist of the best GTA Trilogy cheats so you'll find the most useful ones for all three classic GTA games at a glance.
These cheats were available in the original PC versions of GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas, so there's no guarantee that they will work with the new version. It's highly likely that, at most, they will disable any achievements. That said, we will verify each one once the GTA Trilogy is available.

Looking for the best of the GTA San Andreas cheats? With the newly released remasters hitting the Rockstar digital store, it's time to return to Grove Street, reunite with CJ's crew, and take over the city once again. If you want to experiment, the world's your oyster with these GTA San Andreas cheats, though there are more out there. You can, for example, turn everyone into an Elvis Presley impersonator before giving them a rocket launcher and itchy trigger fingers.
It's not just the streets of San Andreas where you can cause tanks to appear out of nowhere using cheats. You can also cause chaos and destruction in Liberty City with GTA 3 cheat codes and Vice City with the GTA Vice City cheat codes. We also have a selection of the best GTA Trilogy cheats across all three games rather than searching through the entire list to find the codes you want.
Just make sure that you save the game before entering any of the cheat codes, and don't save over your save file after activating a cheat. There's a chance that you could corrupt your save file, and nobody wants that to happen.

Looking for the best BAR loadout in Call of Duty Vanguard? The BAR - or the Browning Automatic Rifle, if you're feeling fancy - is a mainstay of WWII era Call of Duty games, so its return in Vanguard comes as no surprise.
Unlike in previous Call of Duty games, though, the M1918A2 BAR is an assault rifle, rather than an LMG. It packs a powerful punch and is able to take out enemies in just two shots with the right attachments, but it does suffer from a couple of drawbacks - most notably, its high recoil may give you some trouble hitting your shots, and its rate of fire is rather sluggish, too.
The best Call of Duty Vanguard BAR loadout we've found upgrades the weapon's recoil control and rate of fire. Based on our experience with the game, we also found it particularly useful to also upgrade the BAR's mobility and accuracy in order to keep up with the fast-paced combat of modern Call of Duty games. However, if you're particularly struggling with the recoil, we've found a few alternative recommendations to help you out.

You've come home from a long day and want to kick back with your favourite videogame, only to find out there's an update so big it can no longer fit on your device - yes, we're looking at you, Call of Duty. It sounds like you might need a new SSD, which doesn't have to cost as much as you think.
Games are constantly getting bigger, whether you're paying attention to the intricate graphical details or getting lost in their sprawling worlds as Rockstar, Bethesda, and Ubisoft all compete for the largest map possible. Even Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War barely fits on a 250GB drive with all game modes taking up a hefty 175GB.
Your first thought might be to buy a new hard drive, and you wouldn't be wrong in thinking they offer more capacity for a significantly lower price. But unless you want to spend more time hanging around on a loading screen than playing the game, you're better off with a good SSD to speed things up. There are even plenty of deals from WD, Samsung, and Crucial that rival what we'll see on Black Friday if you don't want to wait around.

Looking for some GTA 3 cheat codes? With the release of a newly remastered version of the classic open-world game, it's time to make your own chaotic fun using the best GTA Trilogy cheat codes.
Liberty City is a fantastic playground for a bit of the old ultra-violence, especially with the freedom to make a tank appear out of nowhere. There are more bizarre cheats, too, including ones that affect the weather, manipulate time, and tinker with your character's outfit.
Here you'll find some of the useful cheat codes to use in GTA 3, though there are more out there. Before using cheats, make sure you save your game, and don't save over it once activated as this could potentially corrupt your save file. Do take care when you're inputting codes, as you can't see the codes on the screen and they won't work if you make a single mistake. Of course, given that this is a collection of multiple games, there are different GTA Vice City cheat codes, and GTA San Andreas cheat codes.

Up to this point, the SteamWorld games established themselves as strictly 2D titles. But SteamWorld Headhunter, the most recent entry that publisher Thunderful Games just revealed in its Thunderful World showcase, will enter the third dimension for the very first time. Thunderful only showed a brief teaser trailer for SteamWorld Headhunter, so players will have to wait a little longer before seeing any gameplay footage. Having said that, the trailer does manage to impress with its stylized, cartoony visuals, and it provides a brief idea regarding what the central gameplay element of SteamWorld Headhunter will look like. The trailer kicks off with a typical Wild West showdown between a robot with a wild rag and a cowboy hat and another robot with a bowtie and an Uncle Sam-esque hat. The cowboy robot manages to land the first shot, but when he goes to inspect the body of his opponent, he finds that the head has gone mysteriously missing. Soon enough, the cowboy robot turns around and ...

I guess we can say that the Mosasaurus was one of the stars in the Jurassic World film. Showcased as an attraction that would rival those in SeaWorld, it chomped on sharks, a Pterodactyl (along with Claire Dearing's assistant), and, with the magic of nonsensical blockbuster climaxes, the Indominus Rex as well. In any case, here's our Jurassic World Evolution 2 guide to help you unlock the Mosasaurus. Note: We'll have a Jurassic World Evolution 2 guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned. How to unlock the Mosasaurus in Jurassic World Evolution 2 As usual, our advice is to pick the Challenge mode – Germany (easy) map since you can also obtain most dinos and buildings in a single run. The key difference here, at least when compared to the T-Rex and Spinosaurus, is that the Mosasaurus is an aquatic animal. That means we're going to have to research its genome, as well as the facilities required to spawn it. Mosasaurus research Marine Reptiles 1 (...

After getting delayed way back in July, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction now has an official launch date. Do you recall when Ubisoft may have accidentally leaked the day on its website back in October? Well, turns out the leak was accurate. Rainbow Six Extraction has a release date of January 20, 2022. But that's not all. The game is also going on sale at a lower cost, and it comes with a Buddy Pass so you can bring along some friends for free. Rainbow Six Extraction, since its reveal, has felt akin to a spinoff of Siege, and its lower cost seemingly reflects it. Of course, it's probably more fair to say that Extraction is like another branch of Siege, as it uses the latter game's design philosophy to power the monster-slaying action. The Standard Edition of the game is set at $39.99 USD, with a Deluxe Edition asking for $10 more. Despite it feeling like a part of Siege, however, Extraction is very much its own game. Instead of taking on other playe...

The Spinosaurus is one of the dinosaurs that you can have in your theme park. If you're playing Challenge mode, then the process is certainly more straightforward compared to the requirements for the T-Rex. Here's our Jurassic World Evolution 2 guide to help you unlock the Spinosaurus via research. Note: We'll have a Jurassic World Evolution 2 guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned. How to unlock the Spinosaurus in Jurassic World Evolution 2 As usual, our advice is to pick the Challenge mode – Germany (easy) map since you can also obtain most dinos and buildings in a single run. As for the Spinosaurus, you're going to have to research the genomes of the other beasts first: Medium Carnivores 1 (Ceratosaurus) – Automatically available at the start of your run. Medium Carnivores 2 (Carnotaurus) – Can be unlocked at the start. Piscivores 1 (Baryonyx) – Can be unlocked after getting Medium Carnivores 2. Medium Carnivores 4 (Qia...

The Epic Games Store has evolved over the years since its December 2018 launch. It was about that time when many questioned if we had too many digital storefronts and/or launchers by companies. However, the Epic Games Store has added features following its roadmap. Some of those features have included the addition of rotating free games in its store. Next week, a new wave of free games hit the Epic Games Store, those being: Guild of Dungeoneering, Kid of Mnesia Exhibition, and Never Alone. The most notable of the bunch is probably Never Alone. The 2D adventure platformer has been praised for its art style and depiction of the Native Alaskan people, the Iñupiat. The game reached an average score of 72/100 on Metacritic. However, it enjoys some higher esteem among Steam players, holding a "Very Positive" user review score. The next one on the list isn't a game per se. Instead, its Kid A Mnesia Exhibition, an art exhibition coming to fruition due to a partners...

Forza Horizon 4 is more of an Arcade-sim, much like the Gran Turismo Franchise, rather than a full-blown simulator like Assetto Corsa, RFactor, iRacing, etc. To be fair, driving in Forza Horizon 4 is much easier, technically speaking, than driving on a more serious racing simulator. However, this doesn't mean that the car handling characteristics […]
