Helldivers 2 rival Starship Troopers Extermination details 1.0 revamp

It's no secret that Helldivers 2 borrows a lot from Starship Troopers. The game's galactic war against bugs, thinly veiled critique of fascism, and over-the-top action are all staples of the 1997 film. Arrowhead's beloved shooter wears this inspiration on its sleeve, but before the bombastic co-op game even came out, the universe of Heinlein's novel was already being adapted into something very familiar.      Best internet providers for gaming 2024

In an increasingly online world, the best internet providers for gaming are essential for anyone who wants to properly experience games like Sea of Thieves, Fall Guys, or Fortnite. When games reward you for regular play and require a constant connection to make progress, you don't want your progression hindered by choppy Wi-Fi.

Having the right internet service provider (ISP) can be just as important to your setup as having the best gaming keyboard or the best gaming mouse. Your ISP contributes to the lag you experience, whether ping is high or low, and how long it takes to connect to a server. Additionally, some ISPs love to throw gamers a few goodies (like free Game Pass subscriptions) to make the services all the more enticing.

I've never really understood the charm of ultrawide monitors. I dare boldly to maintain that there is such a thing as Too Wide, a point beyond which the extra visual estate becomes a waste of electricity, unless you watch the screen in pairs. I can only assume people who use ultrawide monitors live in constant terror of flanking manoeuvres and demand the maximum amount of peripheral vision. Mind you, I tend to play games with my nose about 10 centimetres from the screen. Forget being flanked - it's the prospect of snipers up ahead I'm worried about.

If you're among the people who fret excessively about flankers, I've got great news from Uncle BioWare. Forthcoming RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard will support 21:9 ultrawide monitors. The ultrawide functionality extends to cinematics - you can disable "cinematic aspect ratios" to switch off the black bars that otherwise hem in the view. It's one of several PC-specific flourishes they've just blogged about. Have a look.

holo no suika aqua

The fanmade game Holo no Suika is running a last-minute Minato Aqua event due to Minato Aqua's upcoming graduation. During the event, your focus is on creating the biggest Aqua with the falling hololive member parts. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

You can choose the Minato Aqua event mode from the main menu Holo no Suika. When you start, there is an Aqua with a rainbow outline around her. Anything that touches this Aqua will turn into an Aqua. At the top, there is a display that tells you what size the rainbow Aqua currently is. You'll need to "feed" Aqua the hololive member in question to increase her size. This means you have to make sure that you can access this Aqua as you play the game or else you can't complete this goal.

Minato Aqua is part of the second generation of hololive, and she debuted in 2018. Other VTubers who debuted alongside her include Murasaki Shion and Oozora Subaru. She announced in early August 2024 that she would graduate on August 28, 2024. Though she didn't go into detail, one of the reasons she cited for her impending graduation is that she disagrees with the company's direction.

Holo no Suika is available via its website and you can play it in web browsers.

MiHoYo announced that a Fate/Grand Order crossover event would appear in Honkai: Star Rail in 2025. However, details about the collaboration have been scarce. No character has been confirmed. That said, based on the illustration, it seems like Archer would make an appearance. More information about the event will be revealed in the future.

Previously, PAKO worked with MiHoYo to design Tignhari, a character from Genshin Impact. So this is not the first time the illustrator has created an illustration of a MiHoYo character. For Fate/Grand Order, PAKO designed characters like Karna and Nobunaga.

Honkai: Star Rail is available for PC, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS devices. Fate/Grand Order is available for Android and iOS. More information concerning the crossover event will appear in the future. It is scheduled to appear in 2025.

one punch man 247

One Punch Man has returned from hiatus with Chapter 247. You can read it via Tonari no Young Jump's website.

The chapter is quite short and focuses on Suiryu. After an encounter with Webigaza, Suiryu decides to apply for the Neo Heroes organization instead. However, he obliterates a very expensive suit that the Neo Heroes give him. Thus, Suiryu has to work for the Neo Heroes until he can pay off this debt. Once the chapter ends, we can see an ad for the third season of the anime.

While some replies are very positive about Murata's Webigaza and getting to see Suiryu, a lot of the direct replies to Murata are extremely negative. Some people thought the One Punch Man Chapter 247 was an unnecessary filler, and that it wasn't worth waiting two months for something so short. As a reminder though, Murata was taking a break. It's highly unlikely he was working during the two-month hiatus, so he might have drawn a shorter chapter than usual in order to get back into the flow of things.

One Punch Man follows the story of Saitama, who is probably the most powerful man on Earth and is capable of defeating everything with a single punch. Because of this, he's very bored with life. He and his apprentice, Genos the cyborg, decide to join the Hero Association in pursuit of notability and something new.

The One Punch Man anime is available via Crunchyroll, and Viz Media has licensed the English version of the manga.

Fields of Mistria Steam Cloud Saves and Crashes Fixed in New Patch

NPC Studio announced that the latest Fields of Mistria patch fixed an issue with Steam cloud saves and three different kinds of crashes. People will need to update to 0.11.5 in order to make proper working saves.

In the patch notes, NPC Studio explained how it fixed the Steam cloud saves problem in Fields of Mistria. adjusting the format of the files fixed it. Prior to 0.11.5, there would be a folder with individual files inside of it. Now there is a single file. The developer also released a tool via GitHub to unpack and repack saves as well. To use Steam cloud saves, you won't need to do anything special. Just play as usual via Steam.

As for the fixed Fields of Mistria crashes, all three were ones that could be unavoidable. Ones tied to item collection and getting notifications is gone. So is one that involved farming, as planting could cause the game to quit. You can now also actually inspect your inventory without worrying about your game shutting down.

Here are the full Fields of Mistria patch notes for 0.11.5, taken from the official site:

[Highlights]

  • Sunflower seeds have been added to the General Store's stock in the Summer.
  • The Orange Crop Sign furniture item has been added to the Fall Crop Sign Set.
  • "Pause Audio on Unfocus" toggle added to the Audio Settings.
  • Henrietta now has a birthday gift line.

[Updates]

Gameplay

  • Sage can now be found on the beach map in Summer.

[Bug Fixes]

Gameplay

  • Placing a storage chest on a table and destroying it with a pick axe will now cause its content to drop nearby instead of in the corner of the room.
  • The Pomegranate Crop Sign furniture item is now properly listed in the Winter Crop Sign Set.

QOL

  • Steam Cloud saving now works properly.
  • Save files are much less likely to become corrupted if saving is interrupted.
  • Improved game performance during and after a rainy day.

NPCs

  • Luc no longer makes bug-specific comments about non-bug gifts.
  • Townsfolk no longer occasionally disappear on Fridays.

Art

  • The horn color on the sleeping female cow has been updated.

Crash Fixes

  • Inspecting items in your inventory no longer occasionally crashes the game.
  • Sowing seeds no longer occasionally crashes the game.
  • Collected Items and Notification pop-ups no longer occasionally crash the game.

It will still be some time before new content shows up for Fields of Mistria. The roadmap noted the first major update will appear in Q4 2024. That will let you further romance NPCs, increase your renown, learn new skill perks, and fight new enemies.

Fields of Mistria is in early access for PCs, and it is playable on the Steam Deck.

Review: Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered Still Stuns on the Switch

Muv-Luv is one of those games series where there's one entry that is pretty close to being a masterpiece, but you do need to go through everything leading up to it to truly get the most out of it. Muv-Luv Alternative, which is available now on the Switch via a Remastered version, is that installment. Age tells a great story in it, to be sure, but it really becomes fantastic and ties everything together if you also went through Muv-Luv Extra and Unlimited as well.

Editor's Note: There will be some spoilers for Muv-Luv Unlimited in this Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered Switch review.

Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered picks up where Unlimited left off. Takeru Shirogane finds himself in his room, but he is not back in his original "reality" from Extra. Rather, he still remembers everything that happened in the previous two games, but finds himself back at the beginning of the story as seen in Unlimited. However, since he has all of the experiences and knowledge from that life, he knows the dire fate that awaits him and the earth. Resolved to make a difference and use that knowledge to avoid the previous outcome, he heads directly to the UN 11th Force Yokohama base to reunite with Yuuko Kouzuki. After convincing her of who he is and what he experienced by sharing what he knows about the Alternative IV and V plans to deal with the BETA invasion, he once again is assigned to Unit 207 alongside Meiya Mitsurugi, Chizuru Sakaki, Kei Ayamine, Miki Tamase, and Mikoto Yoroi, working with them, Kasumi Yashiro, and other characters toward a better future.

Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered Switch
Screenshot by Siliconera

Right from the outset, you can see how far Age and Muv-Luv has come in Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered's earliest moments. A big part of this involves Takeru's character development. To be honest, I wasn't his biggest fan in Extra! He's not the worst dating sim protagonist, but he's definitely an immature kid. In Unlimited, I felt like he really grows on us. He starts as that same person as he was in the initial entry, but we see how his experiences with the BETA, heartbreak, and other stressors force him to grow up into someone more dependable and even admirable. I suppose you could say his appearance here in Alternative is his final form. From the very start, he's much more committed, mature, and resolved. Like I would trust him as a person. As a testament to Age's writing and direction, I honestly felt proud of him, what he accomplished, and how he really has these good intentions to help the people he loves and the world.

That care put into the script and character development also comes through in pretty much every other element of Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered, making the Switch release a pretty good time. (The localization remains pretty great, just like in the first parts.) Little plot points and threads that came up as far back as Extra are touched upon here, and I really appreciated the pay-off. Going through the three one after another on the system also meant I probably picked up more on them through these playthroughs, so I'd definitely recommend anyone else interested take that approach as well. While I feel like it's most evident with certain characters, such as Meiya, Kasumi, and another person I won't name, in general there's a lot going on and people get quite a bit of attention.

Age Anchor game
Screenshot by Siliconera

Also, the story absolutely goes places. While previous games involved more influencing of the routes to varying degrees, that doesn't happen in Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered. However, given what's going on, it makes sense and feels more natural. Yes, you can still make choices and see some minor changes as a result. But in general, you're working toward one specific ending. As a result, I felt like Age really got to go full-force into making it as impactful as possible. Given how connected folks may be to certain characters as a result of going through these harrowing situations for three games now and possibly romancing them in previous entries, there are absolute gut-wrenching and tearjerker parts.

As with Muv-Luv Remastered, Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered also looks and runs wonderfully on the Switch. It still remains a dynamic visual novel, with character portraits and sprites appearing at different parts of the screen to show motion, extra positions and posing for greater emotional impact, and care put into CGs and other elements to amp up tension or capture action from different angles. It's all handled quite well. It's easy to play. I also felt it was fantastic in Handheld mode.

With Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered, Age tells such a striking and emotional story. The events of it stick with you, especially if you put in the time and went through every part of the adventure. The only downside to it all is that it really does demand that dedication. The pay-off is fantastic if you are willing to go through Extra and Unlimited first. I would still say it is a great story if you don't, but the character development and hints leading up to what happens here builds in a great way and results in a fascinating sci-fi story.

Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered is available for the Nintendo Switch. It is also available on the Vita and PC worldwide and the PS3, Xbox 360, and mobile devices in Japan.

Genshin Impact Xbox Offline Pop-Up Events Announced

Now that the Genshin Impact Xbox Series X version is confirmed, HoYoVerse announced a series of offline pop-up events to celebrate it. There are three so far, with the first immediately available at gamescom 2024 in Cologne, Germany.

The current event is being held at the Koelnmesse until August 25, 2024. It is part of the regular gamescom affairs this year. Attendees can find the HoYoVerse booth at C031 in Hall 6. If you complete the check-in "missions" to see different parts of the booth, you get souvenir stickers and postcards. The Genshin Impact Xbox Series X version is also apparently present, though the company only said people who attend can "experience" it. There will also be a hidden Slime box based on the enemies from the series.

Unlike the current gamescom pop-up event, the other two upcoming ones aren't tied to conventions. Both will appear August 31, 2024 through September 1, 2024. One pop-up will be at The Oculus Plaza at Westfield World Trade Center at 185 Greenwich Street in New York City, New York. The other will appear at the Lancaster Place Somerset House in Strand, London WC2R 1LA in the UK.

The Microsoft Store also features a product listing for the game now. It is free-to-play. However, people can also get a $9.99 pre-order bundle that includes 2 Acquaint Fate, 150,000 Mora, 30 Hero's Wits, 40 Mystic Enhancement Ores, and 10 Rainbow Macarons.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Xbox Series X version releases on November 10, 2024.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker Gets Shisui Uchiha and Ninja Hawks

Bandai Namco shared the Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker Developers' Letter 6, which confirmed Ninja Hawk Summoned Animals arrives in September 2024 and Shisui Uchiha (Perfect Susano'o) DLC will arrive on August 23, 2024. There will also be other new additions when the next season debuts on August 22, 2024.

Shisui Uchiha (Perfect Susano'o) will be the second version of the character to appear in Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, with both showing up as DLC. The standard version, which was released as part of Season Pass 3 in November 2020, is an Attack type character. The new one is a Defense type. He can use the Susano'o: Tsukumo Ninjutsu to defend while unleashing Senbon AOE attacks against enemies. The Genjutsu: Sharingan Ninjutsu deals damage to an enemy with phantasms, halts them, and gives everyone on your team Sharigan Mode to defend against attacks with phantasms. The Perfect Susano'o: Kishin Secret Technique takes the player into the air, where they can see where enemies are and choose where to attack. He can also use a Uchiha Shuriken Jutsu: Infiltration Shadow decoy to either get closer to a foe or attack them.

As for the Ninja Hawk Summoned Animal in Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, it will be a flying mount. Some of the ones shown in the initial screenshot include the Attackers Haryu and Shuko, the Healers Keiko, Rinko, and Wako, and the Suppliers Hatsurai, Jinrai, and Seirai. Since it is a flying character, you need to stand still after summoning it, and you can't attack while riding it. However, it will attack once you hop off.

As for other additions, here are other things that will appear after the August 22, 2024 update:

  • Defense Type Weapon: Yagura's Club
  • Defense Type SS+ Weapon: War Fan "Dreaming Moon"
  • Heal Type Weapon: Aburame Clan Insects
  • Heal Type SS+ Weapon: Sage Arms "Monstrous Chaos"
  • Ranged Type SS+ Weapon: Inked Scroll "Holy Monk Likeness"

The team also confirmed Ranged Type Secret Technique: "Host Transformation: Six Tails" will be added "sometime after the next update." Free Ninjutsu Trial will also be available periodically after August 22, 2024.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and its Ultimate Edition are available for the PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, and Shisui Uchiha (Perfect Susano'o) will show up as DLC on August 23, 2024.

The Onemutan line of figures, which previously included anime characters, will include part of the cast of Persona 3 Reload in 2024.

Statso announced five Persona 3 Reload Onemutan figures will appear in November 2024 in Japan. These are a type of capsule toy that will be available for 400円 (~$2.75) per try. [Thanks, Persona Central!]

The five Persona 3 Reload characters in this Onemutan figure collection are the main character (Makoto), Akihiko, Junpei, Mitsuru, and Yukari. It is unknown if a follow-up collection with additional cast members like Aigis, Fuuka, Ken, Koromaru, and Shinjiro will eventually show up. However, Statso does have a habit of releasing volume 1 and 2 releases in the Onemutan line. Each figure is under two inches tall (45mm). They also feature blankets that match their signature colors. So, for example, Akihiko has a crimson blanket, while Yukari's is pink. Each one features an exhausted expression, though in the case of Junpei we can see he is actually asleep.

Here's a closer look at Statso's announcement.

The Onemutan series is an ongoing line for Statso and includes many other game and anime series. For example, Haikyu and My Hero Academia ones appeared in August 2024. Tensura ones showed up in June 2024.

Persona 3 Reload is available now on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Episode Aigis: The Answer DLC will debut on September 10, 2024. The Persona 3 Reload Onemutan figures of characters will launch in Japan in November 2024.
