Siliconera Saturday, December 16, 2023 3:00 PM Calliope Mori Nendoroid Is an Intricate, but Fiddly Hololive Figure       I'm in the midst of a love-hate relationship with the Calliope Mori Nendoroid, as I love how the Hololive Vtuber figure looks and the level of detail! However, posing her can be quite annoying due to the nature of the build and things like her long hair, cape, and limbs. Let me tell you, this Nendoroid is a frustrating Vtuber figure to pose and arrange. The issues started for me once during the unpacking process. Plastic sheets are around the face and between various parts as a form of protection. Upon separating her torso from her lower body at the waist, the figure simply… refused to stick together. Getting the stand affixed in the back (also a challenging feet due to needing to remove her head because of the long hair and her cape) and keeping her constantly posed on her stand helps. But any time I'd take her off of the lower part of the stand to prepare another pose, sure enough the lower half of her body fell apart again. The Calliope Mori Hololive Nendoroid comes with a glass of wine that fits in only one hand part, which thankfully holds it securely. It's easy enough to arrange that. The glasses are slightly trickier, as they clip on after the front hair part is affixed and don't involve layering that goes under the bangs. Though in general, I opted to leave them off due to the fact that they are completely made of solid black plastic and don't have any transparent elements. It sort of cheapens the look of things, especially since I have older Nendoroids that do have transparent glasses parts or visors that look much better. But really, it's getting the scythe into a position you might like that could be a trial. One of the Good Smile Company promotional images shows this Hololive figure with it behind her back, but the nature of her hair, stand, cape, and top-heavy nature of the weapon the Vtuber uses make that a bit of a challenge! I tended to pose her with the blade on the ground or propped up in a such a way where even though the blade is upright, the stand and positioning means it is balanced in a way that works well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPeqayFYGpI&ab_channel=GOODSMILECHANNEL I know this has seemed really critical so far, but I'm genuinely a fan of how the Calliope Mori Hololive Nendoroid turned out, as the degree of detail really captures the Vtuber well. The translucent veil looks great, and I really approve of the decision to make the tiara a part of the hair rather than a separate piece. (I've had terrible luck with crowns and ears that rely in a slim slip of plastic wedged between the front and back hair parts.) The outfit has tons of embellishments that make it stand out. Her expressions are very fun too, with the disgusted and sly ones being especially charming. I also honestly wish I'd picked up a Megurine Luka figure over the years, because I think it'd have resulted in some great mix-and-matching opportunities with this Hololive Nendoroid. Both are musicians, so the accessories would have paired well. I honestly could have swapped in the hair parts too, since they both have pink locks. There's a lot of crossover potential with it. The work on her dress, hair, accessories, and face plate are fantastic. However, there are some design elements -- both intentional and unintentional -- that might make actually posing and displaying her a little frustrating. It's very possible I just got one with a bit of a "dud" part that kept the two halves of her body connected! But know going in that if you want certain poses, you might need to fiddle with parts and do some balancing to make it work. The Calliope Mori Nendoroid is one of two Hololive EN Vtuber figures out now, as Amelia Watson and Gawr Gura are also available. Ninomae Ina'nis is also on the way. Siliconera Saturday, December 16, 2023 12:00 PM I'm so Disappointed in the Soulless Fae Farm Coasts of Croakia DLC       Back when I played the Fae Farm base game, I was incredibly disappointed by the bland and broken experience, so I shouldn't be shocked the Coasts of Croakia DLC is more of the same. It's a soulless collect-a-thon with no personality or point. After acquiring the DLC, which is $10 by the way if you don't own the Switch version that gets it for free, the Archi-Pal-Igo Park opens up. It's a rather small area accessed by going through Grenu the frog's mouth in Stay-A-While Bay. You can go around to grab the new recipes for swamp, pond, and frog-themed furniture, wallpapers, and rugs, get the ability to turn critters into pets, can make Trinkets for them to equip for buffs, and will see an array of different critters, some rare. And… that's it. Screenshot by Siliconera I didn't finish the critter section of my Almanac in Fae Farm, because I was so disappointed in the endless array of palette swaps, and the Buddy Binder in the Coasts of Croakia DLC is basically that again. Because of course even if you caught critters before, it doesn't count. Now you need to find them all again while you have the Critter Conch, making sure you upgraded it enough so you can speak the right "language," and collect them all again. And why? So you can see a one to two sentence description of it, possibly name it or assign it a Trinket so you get a buff, and have it trail behind you. Different versions of critters don't have any special bonuses or traits. They're all the palette swaps again. Even talking to one of these pets via the power of said Critter Conch is as lifeless and disappointing as the conversations with other Fae Farm NPCs. This is because there's tons of reused text. I started seeing the same script after catching my first four, and it killed my motivation to ever try to talk to any of them. Screenshot by Siliconera Speaking of a lack of motivation, the buffs afforded by the Trinkets lose all value when you realize how far you'll need to be to get and make them. In my opinion, the Superior Diamond Trinket is the most valuable. It means fewer trips into mines are necessary, since it increases Mining Efficiency and Power by three each, while also offering a 15% boost to Energy and Mana. Except… it requires diamonds. Those are one of the last types of gem you'll find in Fae Farm, as they're found around floor 18 in Scorched Caverns. That's an endgame dungeon, and you likely have the orichalcum or gold pickaxe by that point that… makes that perk redundant.  I know that Fae Farm is only three months old, but for the Coasts of Croakia DLC to have no content for endgame or postgame players, the same lifeless NPCs, and a tedious checklist that sends you collecting critters you've seen before feels unacceptable to me. While the main game's dungeons ended up getting tedious and uninspired, it feels like we should have at the very least gotten something more substantial like that instead of a new checklist with few benefits. I didn't think I could be more disappointed with Fae Farm after playing the base game, but I'm coming away feeling like Coasts of Croakia proves it could somehow get worse. There will also be a content update and optimization for Forgotten Hall: Memory of Chaos. Pure Fiction will be a permanent feature in the game much like Swarm Disaster. It'll play similarly to Forgotten Hall in which you set up two different parties to face challenges and accumulate points. Like Forgotten Hall, HoYoVerse will update it with new challenges. Before you enter battle, you can choose different buffs for your team. There will be an endless wave of enemies, requiring you to defeat them to rack up points. Depending on your high score, you can get rewards such as Stellar Jades. You can also get Jade Feathers from Pure Fiction and Forgotten Hall that you can exchange for prizes like Self-Modeling Resin. As for the Forgotten Hall update, stages 11 and 12 will open up, granting more opportunities for Stellar Jades. There will also be an auto-clear function. This will allow you to clear previous stages up to stage 7 so that you're not constantly repeating stages. The game will also optimize the party selection, letting you use the same team as the last one if you want. Finally, Forgotten Hall: Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction will update alternatively, with each cycle lasting two weeks. There will be an official announcement for it at the Bushiroad New Year Presentation, which will take place on January 6, 2024. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!] News of this first came out during Jump Festa 2024, which is underway in Japan. It'll be a "full-scale" fighting game. However, due to the lack of information on the product, it's unclear what this means. The Hunter x Hunter game will be a joint project between Bushiroad and Eighting. Eighting, or 8ing, is a video game developers that worked on the Bloody Roar series, Fate/unlimited codes, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Hunter x Hunter characters have appeared in fighting games such as J-Stars Victory Vs and Jump Super Stars. However, this unnamed fighting game will be the first standalone one focused entirely on the anime and manga series. Since the 2011 version of the anime ended during the 13th Election Arc, it's unclear if it'll feature any characters or abilities that came out after this arc in the manga. There will be an official announcement for it at the Bushiroad New Year Presentation, which will take place on January 6, 2024. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!] News of this first came out during Jump Festa 2024, which is underway in Japan. It'll be a "full-scale" fighting game. However, due to the lack of information on the product, it's unclear what this means. The Hunter x Hunter game will be a joint project between Bushiroad and Eighting. Eighting, or 8ing, is a video game developers that worked on the Bloody Roar series, Fate/unlimited codes, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Hunter x Hunter characters have appeared in fighting games such as J-Stars Victory Vs and Jump Super Stars. However, this unnamed fighting game will be the first standalone one focused entirely on the anime and manga series. Since the 2011 version of the anime ended during the 13th Election Arc, it's unclear if it'll feature any characters or abilities that came out after this arc in the manga.
