     The next Witcher anime is

Okay, look. Netflix is lying to you. Netflix keeps calling things that are absolutely not anime "anime". Please scroll down if you would like my full rant on this topic. For now, though, the thing you're here to learn about is the new animated Witcher film, following up on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The next movie was briefly announced months ago, but it's still a long way off.

Producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich tells Entertainment Weekly that the film "way, way, way in the future", and there's no clear release date, even internally, because "we're just now getting started on it". As for the direction of the film, however, Hissrich says that "I hope that the anime [sic] is a little bit more of a standalone project that will bring new eyes onto the franchise but also really be able to stand out there on its own". The movie will be written by a pair of writers who have "been on the staff from the beginning".

Nightmare of the Wolf was produced by Studio Mir, the South Korean animation house responsible for such excellent productions as The Legend of Korra and Netflix's own Voltron series. It's a great studio. It does not make anime.

An FFXIV player has created an online raid simulator to help you practice mechanics

I've spent over 300 hours getting to know Final Fantasy XIV in the run-up to the Endwalker release date, and I'm still terrified of raids - the Savages and Ultimates, anyway. Luckily, one FFXIV fan has gone to the trouble of building a simulator to help you practice the mechanics of the MMORPG's most challenging encounters.

XIVsim.com has been in beta for some time, and version 1.0 just launched. As creator Appropriate_Bit2021 explains on Reddit, the beta version has seen 15,000 players run over 40,000 duties, and over the course of the beta, "multiple useful features have been added such as the ability to pause at anytime and discuss, or automatically pause on a death. Along with a much improved engine and netcode".

The Raid Simulator lets you spawn enemies and mechanics you want to try, load timelines, or create your own timeline to practice whatever you specifically need to. The tool is currently struggling under the weight of early interest, so queue times can be a bit long - but hey, DPS players at least know that struggle. Once you've grabbed a server, you can invite your friends to practice alongside you by just sending them a link.

RetroArch's new automatic frame delay setting makes low input lag easier

While emulation has dramatically improved over the years, low input lag is still one major advantage to playing old console games on original hardware on a CRT TV. Emulator developers have been finding creative ways to work around that problem for ages, and the devs behind the RetroArch frontend have been making those options more convenient for players to use. The latest push back against input lag is a particularly neat one: automatic frame delay.

Frame delay itself has been in RetroArch for years. It essentially allows you to push back the rendering of a frame to the last possible millisecond, so that your input comes as close as possible to when that frame is rendered on-screen. So at 60fps, a frame comes roughly every 16 milliseconds. If your computer is beefy enough to render that frame in, say, eight milliseconds, frame delay lets you get that extra half-frame of input latency back. A half-frame of input lag would be imperceptible to most, but combined with other types of lag reduction, it adds up.

The issue is that up to this point, RetroArch users have had to manually configure the frame delay setting in each emulator core, and in some cases, they'd need different configurations for individual games. RetroArch 1.9.13 makes that process unnecessary with automatic frame delay.

Total War: Warhammer 3's Ogre Kingdoms units are surprisingly well-rounded

Kislev, Khorne, Tzeentch, Cathay - they've all had their time in the pre-release spotlight in the long leadup to the Total War: Warhammer III release date. Lately, however, we've gotten our first peek at the strategy game's tallest and hungriest faction, the Ogre Kingdoms. In a new video highlighting a selection of the Ogre Kingdoms' unit roster, we get a look at how well-rounded these big meat-eating lads really are.

Zerkovich's latest video shows off a partial selection of the Ogre Kingdoms army roster. It ranges from the diminutive Gnoblars at the small end up to the fearsome legendary lords Skrag the Slaughterer and Greasus Goldteeth at the other. In between, you have a surprisingly wide array of potential jobs for an ambitious young ogre to fill, whether their preference is melee combat or hunting down huge monsters on horseback.

The Ogre Kingdoms are a mobile society that operate somewhat like a horde faction, a concept introduced in Total War: Attila. As such, they're relatively lightly armoured compared to other factions: metal armour and shields are a rarity in these ranks. The basic Gnoblar infantry lacks any of the anti-large spear weapons or silver shields carried by their Goblin counterparts in Greenskin armies, but they make up for their lack of protection by being extremely cheap to recruit.

It showed a lot of the typical signs of a budget JRPG, especially due to its lack of polish. But the potential was there and if the feedback was acted upon, a well-made sequel could elevate the series to another level. Judgment day has now arrived with Koei Tecmo and Gust releasing Blue Reflection: Second Light. Truthfully, it's surprising we even have a sequel to play. The original achieved reasonable sales but hardly took the JRPG scene by storm. Many had assumed that Blue Reflection was set to become yet another ambitious, but forgettable, JRPG.      Lies Of P Alpha Gameplay Teaser TrailerNews on Lies of P, a Souls-like retelling of Pinocchio (of sorts), has been scarce since the game's reveal in May. The "baroque action RPG" made waves when it was unveiled, hinting at an even darker version of Carlo Collodi's story than what Disney could ever dream. Needless to say, a macabre, steampunk version of the classic work was intriguing, and I wanted to know more. Today, at last, Neowiz and Round8 Studio has revealed some early gameplay of Lies of P in a alpha teaser trailer. And it looks even better than what I imagined. If you mash up Bloodborne and Pinocchio while sprinkling in a dash of BioShock, Lies of P would be the result. The Lies of P gameplay trailer shows an unsettling world populated by staggering automatons, ready to attack with a variety of weapons.      Back 4 Blood solo offline campaign progression update decemberAsk and you shall receive (eventually): Back 4 Blood is getting a solo offline mode along with campaign progression in December. Granted, it's a bit late in the making. But solo players of the Left 4 Dead successor will no doubt feel rejoiced over the news. Back 4 Blood is an excellent co-op shooter from the makers of Left 4 Dead, but it wasn't perfect. The game had some balance issues that needed to be ironed out, and the team at Turtle Rock Studios is working on it. In a bizarre move, the game seemingly punished those who wanted to play the campaign solo. While you could do it, and get matched up with bots, you couldn't earn progression points. No doubt the decision was made to funnel players into multiplayer matchmaking, the meat and potatoes of the game. However, not everyone wanted to team up, and they were left baffled as to why they couldn't progress on their own.   The developer did respond to this back in October, and soon it will implement the ...

Rainbow Six Siege is getting a new tier of cosmetics with exotic weapon skins

Rainbow Six Siege is getting a new tier of cosmetics with exotic weapon skins. Ubisoft announced them as part of the Y6S4 patch notes, and it looks like they're going to be quite a bit more visually appealing than the weapon skins that have been in the game up to this point - but they're only going to be available as part of the battle pass.

The exotic weapon skins are more than just new textures - they actually change the 3D models of the gun in question, and add new bits of animation, too. After some early time looking at the High Calibre content, our resident Siege expert Jordan reports that these aren't quite so out there as, say, Valorant's dragon weapon skins, but they are eye-catching in a way other Siege weapon cosmetics have not been.

But, of course, these exotic weapon skins provide yet another avenue for Siege monetisation, which could prove controversial among fans. But hey, at least that new UZK50GI SMG feels rad. You can see more of our hands-on thoughts about the new season at that link.

Looks like Elden Ring is capped at 60fps, even on PC

We've come a long way since the days when we complained about Dark Souls being capped at 30fps. Now, we're complaining about Elden Ring being capped at 60fps, instead. Bandai Namco has provided an early look at Elden Ring's specs and resolution targets across platforms, and it looks like the game won't be taking advantage of your 144hz monitors.

In a new specs chart on the official site, Elden Ring is shown supporting frame rates "up to 60fps" on PC. That implies a hard cap at 60fps, just as we saw in Dark Souls III. We've reached out to Bandai Namco for further information and will update if we learn more, but for now, it seems unlikely that we're going to get a fully uncapped frame rate.

That page also notes that the game supports resolutions "up to" 4K, with no word on non-16:9 aspect ratios. Dark Souls III did not support ultrawide resolutions by default, though modders fixed that issue - and, indeed, have recently fixed the frame rate cap, too. Hopefully we'll see the same thing happen with Elden Ring.

Rainbow Six Siege High Calibre – everything we know about Y6S4

The next Rainbow Six Siege update is called High Calibre, and there's plenty of new content arriving in the fourth season of Year 6. Alongside a host of balance changes and tweaks, there's a new operator joining the roster. Thorn, otherwise known as Specialist Brianna Skehan, is a Technical Weapons Expert from Ireland's Emergency Response Unit. She's a Defensive Operator, with a particularly spiky gadget.

High Calibre also introduces a significant change to the UI - no more Blue Team and Orange Team. Instead, your opponents are always red, and your team is always blue. If you prefer orange to red for your enemies, this can be changed in the accessibility options.

There are plenty more UI changes and reworks arriving - and in the event you encounter any problems, the R6 Fix site has also been overhauled and brought up to date so you can easily report issues, allowing the developers to directly communicate with players. Here's everything we know so far about Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 Season 4, High Calibre.

Rainbow Six Siege High Calibre's new SMG slaps

Ubisoft has just unveiled Rainbow Six Siege's 24th seasonal update, Operation High Calibre. It includes the usual assortment of updates: a new operator, a map rework for Outback, and a haul of customisation, balancing, and quality of life changes.

Arguably, the new Irish defender, Thorn, isn't the most exciting addition. What makes her and this update special is the fact that she comes packing a .50 GI SMG called the UZK50GI. While there's still a regular flow of new operators to the game, they've all been using familiar firearms upcycled from older operators for the past couple of years. Thorn's new SMG is one of the hardest-hitting full-auto guns in the game - similar to Frost's 9mm C1 - and those .50 GI rounds are also handy for popping holes in walls or the floor. It does have some drawbacks, including a pitiful magazine capacity of 22 rounds and a slow rate of fire. If you're not all that fussed on new hardware, then she can also equip the M870 shotgun and either the 1911 TACOPS pistol or the C75 Auto as secondaries.

Of course there's a lot more to the best Rainbow Six Siege operators than weapons, and Thorn's Razorbloom Shell gadgets are primed to make an impact on Siege's lineup of trapper ops. The Razorbloom Shell is a throwable, sticky fragmentation mine, and she has three at her disposal. These can be hidden anywhere you can hide Ela's Grzmot Mines and have an activation radius of three metres. Once activated the attacker has a couple of seconds to either find and destroy the gadget, or get out of the blast zone - a direct hit is lethal.

Back 4 Blood will get an offline single player mode in December

Back 4 Blood is a fun and gory follow-up to Turtle Rock's legendary Left 4 Dead games, but the lack of any way to progress the campaign in the zombie game's single-player mode left some cleaners scratching their heads when it launched a month ago. The developer has now revealed Back 4 Blood's near-term roadmap, and it looks like solo players are getting some much-needed love before too long.

Coming in December to Back 4 Blood is a solo offline mode with campaign progression, according to the roadmap posted to the game's official Twitter account. While the campaign is meaty fun with a group of friends, as Jordan Forward points out in our Back 4 Blood review, it was frustrating to have no way to earn rewards while playing solo with bots. Adding this in will be a welcome change for players whose friends live in awkward time zones or who aren't into the whole zombie-blasting thing.

First, though, there are quality of life improvements and 'major bug fixes' on the way in November, although Turtle Rock hasn't laid out exactly what that means for the next patch. In December, along with the single-player mode, Back 4 Blood will also get new supply lines, a new area where you can practice fighting different types of ridden, a new card type, and some new cards.

A Denuvo service interruption made dozens of games unplayable this weekend

Dozens of online games were unplayable for parts of the weekend due to a Denuvo domain going offline. Service has since been restored, but the downtime angered players in both single-player and multiplayer games that use the anti-piracy and anti-cheat tech, which has routinely been criticised for its impacts on game performance.

VGC reports that players took to social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter Sunday to flag downtimes in their favourite games.      Assassin's Creed Valhalla's 20GB patch adds tombs, new skills, and a late Halloween

It's November, which means it's time for spooky in-game events - wait, no, that was last month. Either way, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is getting in the Halloween spirit with a bunch of spooky additions for title update 1.4.0, which will be another big download for us on PC. After downing those GBs, we'll have access to Tombs of the Fallen, a handful of new skills, and the Oskoreia Festival.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla title update 1.4.0 launches on Tuesday, November 9 at 4am PST / 7am EST / 12pm GMT. It'll be a 20.31GB download on PC - it's similarly sized on Xbox consoles, but quite a bit smaller on the PlayStation boxes, for reasons that are surely mysterious and spooky.

The Tombs of the Fallen, which previously leaked thanks to an early trophy update, are the big additions this time around. These are four puzzle-focused challenges that you'll find scattered across England, and will be accessible as long as you've unlocked the settlement in the main storyline.

How to make money at New World trading posts

Want to know the best way of making money in New World? In MMOs such as World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2, and Final Fantasy XIV, making vast sums of coin fast takes a bit of time and effort. While there is no way to create a massive pile of coins to swim in (like Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales), you can always buy a big ol' house and fill it with all sorts of fancy furniture.

New World houses are not the only thing you can buy with tons of cash. If you want the best New World weapons, you have to spend some coin on specific resources at any town's trading post - which are shops where players can sell their unwanted equipment and desirable resources to make a profit. There are a couple of ways to make a fortune in New World, and while they're both straightforward to execute, you also need to spend some time doing some rather mundane tasks.

Another way to obtain coins is from quests, so if you get bored of the more repetitive methods outlined below, you can always opt to finish tasks given to you by the townsfolk in each of the towns.

Total Warhammer fans are enthusiastically dissecting Warhammer 3's campaign map

Last week we got treated to the announcement (and confirmation) of the Ogre Kingdoms as Total War: Warhammer III's pre-order incentive, as well as a new firm release date. What also got announced at the same time were two physical editions for the game - the 'Day One' and the 'Limited' editions - the details of which you can find out on the strategy game's updated FAQ.

The physical editions themselves are not what we're interested in though, it's what comes with them - namely, both editions come with a printed version of Total War: Warhammer III's campaign map, giving us our first official glimpse as to what the game's strategic playgroundc is going to look like. As you can imagine, this has Total War fans quite excited.

As we only have the promo images for the physical editions as a source, part of the campaign map is obscured by other features, but that hasn't stopped people from attempting to fill in the blanks. This is made easier as it seems that Warhammer III's campaign map will feature elements of the Old World from the Warhammer I map, namely the northern parts of the Empire, as well as the Chaos Wastes and the area around Kislev.

Forza Horizon 5 is getting picture-in-picture sign language options

Forza Horizon 5 will be out officially tomorrow, November 9 - although folks who pre-ordered the premium edition have been busy hooning away all weekend. It arrives with an impressive suite of accessibility features, from its colourblindness options to its settings for difficulty and game speed. But the open-world racing game is getting another feature in the near future: picture-in-picture sign language interpreters for cinematics.

A recent Xbox Wire post that details a range of Forza Horizon 5's accessibility features also notes that the team at Playground Games is currently in the process of implementing support for both American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters for the game's cutscenes. Interpreters using sign language will appear in a picture-in-picture display near the bottom of the screen at appropriate times, the post explains.

"We're constantly listening to the community to make Forza Horizon 5 an inclusive experience for everyone to enjoy," writes Mike Brown, Forza Horizon 5's creative director. "We want everyone in the world to be able to experience our game, and with more than an estimated 400 million gamers with disabilities across the globe, it is vital that all players be able to tailor their gameplay in a way that works best for them."

Elden Ring system requirements – Ray tracing to come via post-launch patch

Elden Ring is coming to PC February 25, 2022, and publisher Bandai Namco has shared some new technical details about the new Soulsborne game. Developer FromSoftware recently shared 15 minutes of extended gameplay, which you can watch here, and also announced the game's pre-order bonuses and several collectors editions.

In an FAQ article, Bandai Namco states that Elden Ring will support a maximum resolution of native 4K, HDR, and frame rates of up to 60fps. Unfortunately, it appears that FromSoftware has implemented a frame rate cap, as it did previously with its previous game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. However, as with previous Soulsborne games, it's likely that this will be circumvented through mods.

While it won't be available at launch, ray tracing support should add another layer of gross incandescence to Elden Ring's world. Currently, there's no indication that AMD FSR or Nvidia DLSS will be available to help boost fps, but we'll update this page if and when that changes.

The best Call of Duty Vanguard guns

Wondering what the best guns are in Call of Duty Vanguard? After an entire year of Cold War-era weaponry, it's time for something different. We're going back to WWII in this year's Call of Duty game, giving players an arsenal of old timey weapons to get their hands on. You should recognise a number of classic weapons in the list, including the legendary Kar98k sniper rifle.

Compared to the guns found in Warzone, Activision's battle royale game, Call of Duty multiplayer weapons are usually slower. However, Vanguard's time to kill speed has been tuned to ensure these weapons are equally as powerful. How they fare against the best Warzone guns remains to be seen - we'll find out when the Vanguard integration kicks in after the game releases on December 3.

We've assembled a list the best weapons in Vanguard as well as their level requirements. This year's Call of Duty game has given certain weapons up to ten attachments, allowing players to customise their favourite guns exactly to their liking.

HP laptop could feature Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti and unannounced Intel Alder Lake chip

HP seemingly loves spilling the beans when it comes to new gaming PC products, from AIO machines listing unannounced AMD Ryzen 7000 chips to spec sheets featuring an Nvidia RTX 3080 Super. Thanks to yet another leak linked to the company's hardware, we now know that the green team's RTX 3080 Ti could debut alongside a new Intel Alder Lake gaming CPU within an Omen branded laptop.

According to a Geekbench listing spotted by Benchleaks, the HP Omen 17-ck1 gaming laptop will feature a mobile Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti and an i7-12700H Alder Lake-P mobility CPU. Based on the Ampere GA103 SKU, the green team's new enthusiast-grade GPU should perform similarly to an RTX 3080 desktop graphics card, while Intel's unannounced chip comes equipped with 14 cores and 20 threads.

Nvidia and Intel's unannounced components are undeniably the star of the show, but it's worth mentioning that the new Omen also comes with 32GB of RAM, making this HP machine a portable powerhouse. That said, the rig's 90,114 Vulkan score places it slightly behind current RTX 3080 laptop offerings, something that could be linked to a lack of optimised driver support.

Looks like Among Us is getting a League of Legends Arcane crossover

Riot Games is teasing a crossover between League of Legends and Among Us. The developer's new RiotX Arcane Progress Days trailer features a shot of some Among Us crewmates tootling around in LoL-inspired duds. One crewmate we see is dressed as an enforcer from the Arcane show's Piltover city, while the other looks like League of League's inventor Heimerdinger.

If you've been out of the loop, Riot has been celebrating the launch of the Arcane Netflix show with various crossovers with games like Fortnite and PUBG alongside in-game events for League of Legends. Progress Days is the next one, and it's themed around an in-show holiday that sees the people of Piltover celebrate all things tech.

While details about a League of Legends and Among Us crossover are thin on the ground, we don't think you'll be left waiting for too long to find out more. Innersloth revealed on Twitter that we're getting a five-minute Among Us livestream tomorrow (November 9) to see what's coming in Among Us' next major update. The developer has only confirmed roles for the show, though there are plenty of other goodies on the way.

Forza Horizon 5 reviews – our roundup of the critics' scores

Update - November 8, 2021: You can now check out our very own Forza Horizon 5 review! Catch the link below.

The big day approaches for racing game fans. Forza Horizon 5 launches on November 9, but ahead of that date we've now got a good idea of what's headed our way. The Forza Horizon 5 reviews have begun rolling in, letting us know what's on the near horizon (hah) and whether Playground Games' latest will be worth your hard-earned pennies. So far, it seems the answer is a big, resounding 'yes'.

Reviews for the upcoming PC game are positively glowing across the board. The racing game, which takes players to the "vibrant and ever-evolving open world landscapes of Mexico", is sitting at a pretty stellar 91 on Metacritic across both PC and Xbox Series X, and 92 on Opencritic across all platforms. There are full marks among the critics' scores, with plenty of reviews putting it very near the top end of the scale, too - so it sounds like it's a not-to-miss for fans of the series and racing games more broadly.

In our Forza Horizon 5 review, Phil Iwaniuk scores the game a nine-out-of-ten, calling it, "familiar, excellent, and polished to a degree that hardly seems possible," adding that, "if you love taking vintage Porsches for joyrides through environments that'd have a poet bawling then you're going to be very happy here."

The best Call of Duty Vanguard MP40 loadout

Searching for the best MP40 loadout in Call of Duty Vanguard? The MP40 dominated the Vanguard beta back in September, and it's even better in the full game with all the attachments unlocked. Using the right combination of attachments, you can turn the MP40 into a weapon capable of killing an enemy in just two shots. The funny thing is that these shots have to hit limbs - if you land a shot anywhere else, you'll have to use three bullets instead.

Similarly to the best Kar98k loadout, the stock version of the MP40 is actually very good. It only takes four bullets to down an enemy, and the impressive rate of fire on this weapon results in a low time to kill speed. When compared to an assault rifle like the STG 44, the MP40 is lighter, features less recoil, and can empty an entire clip much faster than other Call of Duty Vanguard guns in the same category.

With ten attachments to improve this weapon, our loadout focuses on building the game-breaking two shot MP40. Here's everything you need to build the best MP40 loadout in Vanguard.

The Samsung CRG5 1080p 144Hz curved gaming monitor is 46% off on Amazon

There's nothing quite like replacing your 60Hz display with one of the best gaming monitors that sports a higher refresh rate. While the ability to game at 1440p or 4K on your gaming PC is an undeniably sharper experience, it comes at the cost of fps, which is arguably more important for esports titles. If you're someone who plays competitive FPS or MOBA games, then the Samsung CRG5 24-inch 1080p 144Hz curved gaming monitor may be a perfect fit for your needs. Better still, it's just under half price on Amazon US.

The 46% discount brings this display down to just $149.99, from its $279.99 list price, saving you a chunk of change to the tune of $130. This should leave you with more than enough cash to grab a gaming mouse - after all, high polling rates are just as significant as your newly acquired high refresh rate.

If you're a UK shopper, Amazon UK are offering a 16% discount on the CRG5, making it £151.97, a reduction of £28.02 from its £179.99 price tag.

The best Call of Duty Vanguard perks

Want to know what the best perks are in Call of Duty Vanguard? The WW2 game is right around the corner, so it's worth taking a closer look at the Call of Duty Vanguard perks to start theorycrafting loadouts. The current list of perks comes from the Vanguard open beta - more perks will join the list closer to the Call of Duty Vanguard release date.

Vanguard's WWII setting has brought about some changes to the perk system. For example, radars in the 1940s aren't like the ones we've seen in Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare - they're primitive in comparison. You can upgrade your radar using a perk, but you have to sacrifice a number of powerful abilities as a result. Picking the right set of perks for your playstyle is crucial to winning matches in Vanguard.

The perks you should choose directly correlate with your favourite Call of Duty Vanguard weapons. It's also important to note that you may need to switch up your perks depending on what the current meta is. If everyone is using subsonic rounds to stay off the radar, this makes the Radar perk useless. Keep track of what your opponent's loadouts contain to stay ahead of the curve. Here are the best perks in Call of Duty Vanguard.

Forza Horizon 5 review – gone hooning

There are only two kinds of people: those who love material possessions, and the experience collectors. Who's right?

That's my prevailing thought after a week with Forza Horizon 5 (which you can buy here), the biggest and in many ways the finest in a series whose standards have never dropped below 'really, really good.' I've put on fire-retardant suits, driven up an active volcano, and released thermal vents. I've chased storms through the jungle and documented ancient temple ruins and statues. As cars para-dropped out of cargo planes I took them under control and literally hit the ground running - don't spoil the moment, I know cars don't run - along spectacular point-to-points. I've also already started grinding the 34-mile Goliath race for credits and XP. Do I want experiences, or do I want stuff?

I haven't been out with the tape measure, but developer Playground Games says the Mexican open world map in Horizon 5 is 50% bigger than the UK in Horizon 4. The bad news for the local denizens is that gaming's most preposterous festival is pitching up here, defiling the natural beauty of the landscape with a fleet of tents emitting loud drum and bass songs at all hours.

Civ 6 strategy guide: beginner tips and tutorials

Even all these years after release, a Civilization VI strategy guide is always handy as new players are always discovering this seminal 4X game for the first time. Even if you're a Civilization veteran, it might be time to dust off your internal Civilopedia and reacquaint yourself with the basics of world domination.

To help facilitate this, we've put together a beginner's guide explaining many of the basic concepts of the strategy game, from where to found your first city, to diplomacy, warfare, and the game's victory conditions. Use this primer as a way to get acquainted with the game, before tackling more complex strategies and elements.

Please note that certain aspects of Civilization VI change dramatically depending on what Civ 6 DLC you own. For example, Gathering Storm introduced environmental hazards and pollution, as well as the Diplomatic victory. Barring a few cases, we're sticking to universal concepts that can apply no matter what version of the game you're running, although to be honest vanilla Civ VI pales in comparison to how the game plays with both of the primary expansions. We've also not mentioned content from the recent New Frontier Pass either, although you should read our thoughts, as well as this overview of the most recent balance patch, to get an idea as to what state the game is in currently.

Comedian Dara Ó Briain has an old bit where he talks about video games, and the difficulty barrier that games have compared to other kinds of media. "You cannot be bad at watching a movie. You cannot be bad at listening to an album. But you can be at playing a video game. And the video game will punish you, and deny you access to the rest of the video game."

Don't worry; I'm not about to take out a cane and start hammering away at the skeletal, equine remains of the "difficulty in games" debate. But I always remember that joke. I like him miming a book quizzing you on what the major themes of the text are so far, and then woomp-ing closed if you can't answer, and I thought of it again recently while playing Inscryption.

Elden Ring Pc Requirements 60 Fps Cap 4kElden Ring is still a few months off, but lately we've been getting a plethora of news and reveals. Last week, we got a fresh, 15-minute look at the game. And earlier today, publisher Bandai Namco offered an idea on how the PC specs will line up. Like Sekiro before it, Elden Ring will have a 60 fps cap, and resolutions up to 4K, when it launches on PC. The publisher also confirmed that Elden Ring will have support for ray tracing, but that will come later as a patch. Some PC owners may be understandably annoyed at a 60 framerate cap. After all, these days many of us strive for anything at 120 frames per second or above. As an upcoming 2022 game, you'd expect one as hotly anticipated as Elden Ring would provide the option for our high-frequency monitors. Unfortunately, Elden Ring will be locked at 60 fps on PC when it releases in February. And there it will stay until the inevitable mod comes along to break it from the confines. Considering how fast the community worked w...

New Next Mass Effect Bioware Tease ArtEvery year, BioWare celebrates Mass Effect on November 7 — dubbed N7 Day. Normally, it involved folks on the BioWare staff reminiscing about the famous series, or maybe releasing some skins. Last year the team announced Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a remastered collection of the original trilogy. Yesterday, however, N7 Day went off without much of a tremor. But BioWare did provide some fun polling results, as well as drop teaser art for the next Mass Effect game — which hints at something to do with the Geth. BioWare began its celebrations by releasing the results of a series of polls. Want to know who everyone's favorite companion was? If you've played through the games, this answer should come as naturally as the sunrise. Yes, it's our favorite Turian, Garrus, sweeping up both the Most Popular and "most likely to survive the suicide mission" polls. You just can't leave your boy behind. The polls also revealed that 93% of players sa...
