Doom has been flawlessly integrated into this JRPG, and it rocks

Doom can run on anything. From pregnancy tests to lawnmowers, a Macbook touch bar to printers, and microwaves to Minecraft, if it exists then humans will see if it can run the epochal shooter. A technological yardstick as much as a meme, I'll never get tired of seeing Doom being played in the weirdest of places. To that end, Persona 5 Royal is the latest to get the FPS running, and it's even built into the game in a lore-friendly way.

Fallout New Vegas mod reinvigorates guns with a massive overhaul

If there's one thing in Fallout New Vegas that hasn't aged well, it's the animation. The writing is timeless, the worldbuilding is engrossing, and the characters are memorable. Time has come for the engine that first built Fallout 3, though, but the hourglass is always being refilled by dedicated modders. Which Best Suikoden Game Should Everyone Play games

We're living in a rather fortunate time. Konami is poised to bring original Suikoden game and its sequel back via Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars. Rabbit and Bear Studio released the spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. We felt it would be a perfect time for all of us to share our favorite Suikoden entries and note which game we'd most recommend and consider best for a newcomer.

Suikoden 2 is probably the most well known, but I'd recommend not skipping the first game. It's always interesting to watch how a game series develops over time, but honestly its also just a very playable game for its age and the story stands pretty well on its own. --Elliot

I would say Suikoden 3 is the Suikoden game everyone should play. Partially because Elliot already recommended Suikoden 2, which is also in competition for best game in the series. However, Suikoden 2 is very much tied to the original game, with many characters overlapping. Suikoden 3 is fun because we get to see three different main character's larger stories, as well as some smaller stories from other minor protagonists. It's a very solid game, and the fact that you choose who gets the initial True Rune and pick your protagonist for when all the stories come together is fun! -- Jenni

I'm as much a sucker for a roll of the dice as I am for the best roguelike games, so the upcoming strategy game Dice and Fold is one I've been watching with interest. Following in the footsteps of Dicey Dungeons and Die in the Dungeon, this latest dice-based dungeon crawler sees you rolling to put an end to a seemingly non-stop stream of enemies. If that's got you curious to give it a try, developer Tinymice Entertainment has just released a big update to the game's demo, with over 40 items to discover, and you can try it now for free on Steam.

The greatest city builder of them all is yours for just $5 right now

With Cities Skylines 2 struggling to find its feet amid a host of early problems, now feels like a good time to revisit the series that preceded it. EA's 2013 soft-reboot that was essentially SimCity 5 landed to widespread negative reactions, opening the door for Colossal Order to step in as the go-to realistic city-building simulation. But prior to that fall, the series had long been the epochal city builder, and if you missed it at the time or fancy revisiting it, you can get the best of them all, SimCity 4, at a big discount right now.

What are the active NBA 2k24 codes? Every new game in the 2K sports series has a selection of freebies given away, and the latest in 2K's basketball games is no exception. There are plenty of NBA 2K24 locker codes to redeem for new player cards, XP boosts, and MyPlayer gear, among others. However, you'll need to be quick to snag them for yourself.

This is because many of the early NBA 2k24 codes are exclusive to relatively small thresholds of players. However, we're starting to get some freebies that are sticking around for longer, so we've gathered these NBA 2k24 locker codes to give you a little boost.

The leads of The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio

Oshi no Ko was the runaway hit of the Spring 2023 season, with its stellar production values, award-winning opening song, and pointed critique of the Japanese entertainment industry. However, a new 2024 anime has stepped up this criticism and is doing a better job of exploring similar themes.

Oshi No Ko Image

The critical themes in Oshi no Ko often took a back seat to the anime's main plot, which focused on idol fans reincarnating into their favorite idol's newborn twins, who then began investigating their mother's murder by becoming entertainers themselves. While Oshi no Ko is undoubtedly an experience that new and old anime fans should explore, The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio is cutting through the spectacle to tackle these same themes more potently.

The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio is a Slice of Life anime that follows two high schoolers, Yumiko Satō and Chika Watanabe, who are in the same class and both work part-time as voice actors. Episodes mostly focus on the two of them auditioning, doing their radio show together, and jumping through the many hoops that stand between them and a sustainable career in this creative and competitive field. Repeatedly, we see them dealing with their frustration in being rejected for roles they wanted and having to do projects and promotional stunts that they don't care to in order to make a positive impression on the studios that can give them more work.

The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio

While Oshi no Ko does get into the frustrating elements of working as a performer, it only does so after enticing both viewers and the leading characters with the glitz and glam associated with the profession. Oshi no Ko elevates the entertainment industry and the subject matter that it focuses on, which undercuts its critique of the entertainment industry. The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio, on the other hand, just depicts acting as a part-time job that its leads find both frustrating and rewarding.

This, in my opinion, makes The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio a much better critique of the entertainment industry than its predecessor, Oshi no Ko. Even if it's a more public-facing job than most, working as any kind of performer is still labor and shouldn't be celebrated or lauded more than any other profession. In fact, as The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio repeatedly notes, acting is basically gig work, and the associated fluctuations in schedule and consistency can have a tremendous impact on someone's self-worth in that profession.

The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio Image 2
Image via Connect

This isn't to say that Oshi no Ko is a terrible anime. It's deeply enticing and one of the more unique releases from last year. However, The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio is more immediate and focused in its critique of the production world. It doesn't need the frills of a supernatural murder-mystery to push its plot along, and trusts that young people trying to get their acting careers off the ground is an interesting enough story already.

The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio gives a shockingly honest and straightforward look at what it's like to be a young actor, and that makes it feel much more potent than Oshi no Ko's ideations on the industry. Both are absolute must watches, though, and everyone reading this is welcome to come to their own opinion on which anime expresses these themes better!

Oshi no Ko is available to watch on Hi-Dive, and The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio is available on Crunchyroll.

Its Easy Making Stickers in Sticky Business on the Switch

When you get a game that involves small, intricate movements or adjustments, you may find yourself wishing for a mouse to ensure everything looks the way you want. Likewise, ones with a creative element might beg for a means of saving those items in other ways. Sticky Business, originally a PC exclusive involving creating stickers, fit the bill perfectly, yet even so it ends up being a delight on the Nintendo Switch.

As a quick refresher, Sticky Business is about running a digital storefront that makes stickers. You design all your works of art. You prepare and ship orders. You can even adjust your shop to alter what merchandise is available or slightly change its appearance. As you level up designs and place orders, you get money and hearts. These can be used to increase the design elements you can use, types of sticker paper available, amount of items you can stick, included bonuses for packages, color palettes, and so on.

Sticky Business is a very relaxed affair. There are very few penalties for messing up orders. Usually, you'll just miss a shipment or need to sell more of the stickers you already have to progress. My concern coming into it on the Switch is how involved the process can be. While there are light shop management elements, that mainly comes down to ensuring all of the day's orders are fulfilled. The bulk of the experience comes down to making stickers, and I was worried the Switch lacking some of a PC's finer controls could prove an issue with the Sticky Business port. Especially as I'm someone who 95% of the time uses the system in handheld mode.

It turned out to be a baseless concern. Yes, it can be a bit difficult sometimes to perfectly align some images using only the Joy-Cons. However, this Switch port nails the controls. You use the directional buttons to switch between areas in your hub, the sticker creator, the printer portion, and the shipping section. This makes it easy to switch between sticker elements, placing items on paper to ensure you're getting the most stickers for your money, and going through different parts of the packing process. Considering how many tabs there are, I'd even say it's a time saver compared to the PC release.

There are some niceties from the PC version of Sticky Business that made making stickers easier that are absent in the Switch version. For example, it's much more difficult to line up stickers exactly. The option to quickly copy an element you placed in the field, then have an identical one to arrange, is absent. The frequent use of hotkeys to swap between elements and areas also meant I would unintentionally switch to an entirely different segment of the sticker creator as I got accustomed to things. Even once I was familiar, I still found myself making the error occasionally. But also, the PC version had a lovely option that made it easy to save your creations to show or perhaps even actually make later, and that's absent here.

Still, considering everything, Sticky Business really is just as lovely on the Switch as it is on PCs and is an inviting creative outlet for piecing together virtual stickers. There are some sacrifices that needed to be made, of course. But it's incredibly easy to put together elaborate creations. You don't need a mouse. The shortcuts make sense. Plus, it's fantastic in handheld mode. I absolutely recommend it for if you have 15 minutes and want to design something adorable.

Sticky Business is available for the PC on Steam and Nintendo Switch.
