A Halo Infinite early access release for the game's multiplayer component is strongly rumoured right now, with several prominent leakers swearing by it, the Microsoft Store seemingly leaking it, and even Google getting confused by it. Is Halo Infinite's multiplayer getting a surprise Monday release?
While Halo Infinite's single-player campaign has been something of a mystery, the multiplayer side has seemingly had a far smoother development - complete with multiple public betas so players already know a lot about how it's going to work. While the official release date for Halo Infinite is December 8, the multiplayer has been confirmed as being free-to-play and available separate from the main campaign for a long time.
If multiple leakers are correct, Microsoft might be planning an early access release for the multiplayer component as a surprise for the 20th anniversary of both Xbox and Halo: Combat Evolved on Monday. YouTuber Nate The Hate, for example, boasted "I can independently confirm and share with you today that Halo Infinite multiplayer will be made available on Monday, November 15."

Players hoping to see a New World minimap like in all of the best MMOs on PC may be in for a long wait, as developer Amazon Game Studios says it's "not a high priority". The good news is that it's not penalising players for using third-party mods - at least, not yet anyway.
When New World launched back in September it received good reviews from critics and players alike, but many were surprised by the reliance on the compass and the larger world map to track quests and other markers rather than the standard minimap used in most MMOs or open-world games.
In the latest developer blog posted earlier today, Amazon says that it "understands the reasons" players want a minimap but is concerned adding one will have "a negative effect on immersion" and that it has "concerns with it meshing with New World's action combat style and world design". The team is also worried a minimap "could change open-world behavior and potentially remove the natural exploration that happens now in the game."

The Grand Theft Auto series is over 24 years old already and the Red Dead series is 17 years old, but the CEO of their publisher Take-Two thinks these franchises have what it takes to be as long-lasting as the James Bond series - with Grand Theft Auto V itself already eight years old at this point.
A quick reminder that the James Bond movie series is almost 60 years old at this point - far older if we count the original novels - from 1962's Dr. No up to this year's No Time To Die. Grand Theft Auto 1 launched on PC in 1997 and the oft-forgotten Red Dead Revolver came out in 2004.
Speaking during this week's Jefferies Virtual Global Interactive Entertainment Conference (transcribed by VGC), Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the longevity of its franchises - what with this week's troubled release of the GTA Trilogy remasters. Zelnick praised the James Bond movie series for its endurance and said they "would like every franchise to be James Bond."

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the best Star Wars games available in recent years and that's partially down to its engaging characters - in particular, its conflicted primary villain the Second Sister. Now, a first look at the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus series has suggested that the Second Sister may make the jump to live-action and appear in the show when it launches next year.
Recent Star Wars projects have borrowed numerous elements from classic games - the Dark Troopers from Dark Forces and HK assassin droids from the Knights of the Old Republic series recently appeared in The Mandalorian, and the Republic Commandos have appeared in multiple animated shows.
However, if the Second Sister from Jedi Fallen Order is indeed going to be on the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, she will be the first proper game character to make the Force Jump to live-action. In yesterday's short teaser for the show, which can be seen on Disney Plus, director Deborah Chow talks about "Jedi hunters" over a piece of concept art showing one of these Inquisitors emerging from a ship.

Halo Infinite is coming, and from what we've seen so far, it could see the multiplayer game head in new directions. As we contemplate what Halo may or may not become, I can't help but think of its creator.
While the series has been evolving under the care of 343 ever since Bungie handed over the reins in 2010, Bungie itself has also evolved, moving on to create its looter shooter series Destiny. The studio began this journey in partnership with Activision, but since early 2019 has continued as a self-published independent studio. As we compare Bungie and 343's respective eras of Halo, a question emerges: what if Bungie were making Halo: Infinite
Let's be clear, this is not an exercise in dumping on 343 Industries. The studio is finishing the fight that Bungie started, and there's plenty of good and not-so-good things that could be said about its take on the series, just as there are good and bad things about Bungie's Halo games. This isn't about whether Bungie could do it better. This is about what Destiny can tell us about what a Bungie-led Halo would look like today.

A New World region transfer option could be coming to Amazon's MMO after all, despite multiple back-and-forths and the most recent statement saying this was "not possible". According to Amazon, the team is "gauging interest" in the feature - so if players want region server transfers they need to let the developer know.
The saga of New World's server transfers feature has been almost as epic as the game itself. After the game's servers got clogged by the influx of new players at launch, Amazon Game Studios promised a free server transfer to all players so they could move to a less populated one. After multiple delays, the feature is finally available - but the one thing players can't do is change server regions, despite Amazon previously stating that they'd be able to do so.
Amazon also said that "each region is a separate database and it is not possible" for players to move characters between regions. However, perhaps due to player backlash to this decision, the developer says it is now "gauging interest in cross-region transfers".
