Kotaku Wednesday, February 23, 2022 7:30 PM When I first started writing about Arknights last year, I had completed three-fourths of its main storyline. For all intents and purposes, I considered myself a bit of an expert of this gacha tower defense game, thinking of it as basically real-time chess with anime catgirls. Many months later, I realize that I was… |
Kotaku Wednesday, February 23, 2022 7:00 PM Valve just released a new feature that lets you sign into Steam and check to see how many of the games in your library will run on the new Steam Deck handheld. I've ended up with a lot of games over my time in this job, from all kinds of genres and eras, so figured running the test on them might be a useful real-world… |

Kotaku Wednesday, February 23, 2022 5:30 PM A rickety, wooden bridge in many games is just that: a way to get across a gap to the next objective. But in Souls games, FromSoftware often utilizes these atmospheric flourishes for more devious ends. That's why, when Elden Ring presented me with such an obstacle a few short moments into my new adventure, I couldn't… |
Kotaku Wednesday, February 23, 2022 3:05 PM Last week, I said FromSoftware was "back on its bullshit" in response to the moody Elden Ring cinematic that introduces the game's world and major characters. I wish I'd saved that particularly evocative phrase for today's story instead because, if finding a way to poison the player in less than 90 seconds isn't the… |
Kotaku Wednesday, February 23, 2022 1:28 PM Bungie's massive Witch Queen expansion launched surprisingly smoothly and is extremely good so far. While everyone else has been celebrating, however, Destiny 2 Hunters have been going through an existential crisis of sorts as they grapple with some of the update's low points. These include an extremely niche Exotic… |
PCGamesN Wednesday, February 23, 2022 6:50 PM Dwarf Fortress is coming to Steam - just as it has been for the past several years. The venerable, intricate fantasy survival simulation game is getting a major graphical overhaul for that Steam release, with no clear indication of how long the wait for launch might take. The end, however, is now in sight. Sort of. Depending on how badly you want to play the revamped Dwarf Fortress this year. Basically, the devs are debating whether to simply launch the standard Fortress mode as soon as it's ready, or wait until the visual and other upgrades for Adventure, Legends, and Arena modes are complete before launching the full package all at once. Simply finishing off the final Fortress mode upgrades, "our earliest possible launch date would be in the fall", the devs say in a new Steam blog. If the game launched early with just Fortress mode, those other modes would come in later via free updates. It's likely that additional Steam features, like achievements or Workshop support, could be delayed to a further update in this scenario, too. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, February 23, 2022 6:07 PM After much anticipation, Dota 2's 7.31 patch has gone live, with a new hero called Primal Beast. In addition to the previously-announced Techies Demolitions rework, the patch notes include a host of more general balance changes, including a big update to the jungle introducing several new creeps to battle. Primal Beast is a strength hero rated for disabler, durable, and initiator roles. His first ability is Onslaught, a charge which knocks back anyone - enemy or ally - in range, and will damage and stun enemies caught in the effect. Charging the charge will let Primal Beast charge further. Trample creates an AoE damage effect around Primal Beast, which will damage all enemies for 140 units traveled. Uproar is a passive buff to base bonus damage, and Primal Beast gains additional stacks of the ability each time an enemy hero deals 35 damage or more. You can activate those stacks for a roar that'll slow nearby enemies and grant bonus attack damage and armour. Pulverize will grab an enemy target, slamming them back to the ground for AoE damage. PCGamesN Wednesday, February 23, 2022 5:16 PM The Wandering Village is a city-builder where you construct a town on the back of a giant monster. It's a simple concept that immediately captures the imagination, and it's one of the most intriguing city-building games we've seen in a while. If it's caught your eye, you don't have to wait - it's playable right now as part of Steam Next Fest. The demo lets you start a new village right from the beginning, and there's a handy tutorial that'll walk you through the most important bits of keeping your villagers - and their monster-sized pal, Onbu - alive. There's a strong survival element here, as you'll have to keep growing crops and collecting water to survive. The Onbu wanders along set paths, and you can construct buildings that let you influence which way it goes at certain crossroads. If it starts moving through a desert, you're going to have a much harder time collecting enough water to keep your villagers (and their crops) hydrated. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, February 23, 2022 2:21 PM Dragon Age 4, or whatever it ends up being called, was first officially unveiled way back in 2018, though according to insider reports, development has more recently been rebooted to build a fully single-player game. Either way, bits of new information have been few and far between, and today BioWare has provided an update - alongside news of a senior departure from the team. Executive producer Christian Dailey is leaving BioWare. "The next Dragon Age is in great hands," Dailey says in a tweet. "Looking forward to cheering on the team and playing as a fan. Please follow my friends on the latest and greatest moving forward." In a follow-up, Dailey adds that "the Dragon Age team is killing it and the game is in amazing hands. Don't fall for the hate. Lots of positivity, can't wait for when they can share more." The new Dragon Age has completed the concept and pre-production phases of development, and is now "right in the middle of production", as the devs explain in a blog post. "Our blueprint was completed last year, so we're now focused on building out our vision: creating amazing environments, deep characters, strong gameplay, impactful writing, emotional cinematics - and much more. The blueprint for the game is well understood and the team is focused." |
PCGamesN Wednesday, February 23, 2022 2:13 PM Lost Ark is proving to be a huge success for Amazon, but with swelling player counts often come bots. The MMORPG is still hitting the heights of one million concurrent players on Steam two weeks after release (as per SteamDB), though the reports of gold spamming and resource hogging are only increasing in frequency. More recently, players have been reporting that bots are grinding starter zones for completion%, hogging big enemy spawns, and chain questing. Some of the posts are more text or picture based, though there are some videos in there. It's mildly amusing watching a gang of Berserkers vaporise a big baddie in seconds while in perfect unison. One bugbear of the community that's been around since launch is gold seller spam in public chats. Several players have taken to the forums and subreddit to report that the problem is still worsening. I've also been playing Lost Ark and it's undoubtedly frequent. As the name implies, players can rig bots to spam gold-selling posts in a public chat, which gets in the way of people organising activities like dungeons. Siliconera Wednesday, February 23, 2022 3:00 PM We could see the Chaos;Head Noah and Chaos;Child Double Pack in English. The collection, which showed up on the Nintendo Switch in Japan in February, might appear in other regions. Mages took to the official Japanese Twitter account for the series to tease it. However, all it did was ask people to "wait for further information." Here's the tweet hinting that the Switch versions of the games could appear in other languages.
This would mark the first time Chaos;Head would officially be available in English. Mages kicked off its Science Adventure series with it back in 2008. Like other installments, it is a visual novel. Also like its follow-up Chaos;Child, it makes use of a delusions system that determines the course of the story. The Chaos;Head Noah version is a remake that appeared on the Xbox 360 in Japan in 2009. It eventually showed up on other platforms. Chaos;Child is already available in English. It first showed up on the PS4 and Vita outside Japan in 2017. The PC version appeared two years later in 2019. Here's the Japanese trailer for the double pack. Spike Chunsoft has been handling Science Adventure games outside of Japan for some time now. For example, in 2020 it released the Robotics;Notes Elite and Robotics;Notes Dash Double Pack outside Japan. Siliconera Wednesday, February 23, 2022 2:00 PM More people will be able to see screenshots and videos captures from their PS5 on their mobile devices. Sony announced that the Americas will soon get a PlayStation App update that makes these items accessible. They'll show up in a gallery in-app, provided certain conditions are met. There are two types of media from a PS5 that will show up in the PlayStation App. If someone linked their console and application and have the system in rest mode while connected to the internet, items will automatically upload. They will then be able to enable captures in the app under Library and Captures and on the system under the Captures and Broadcasts section in Settings. PS5 screenshots and videos that are not in 4K or over three minutes will show up in the app. They will be available to view there for 14 days. After that point, they will be removed from the app's gallery. Here's a video showing off the process.
This marks more major regions for the PlayStation App PS5 screenshot and video capture feature. Originally, only people in Canada and Japan could use it. The PlayStation App is available on Android and Apple iOS devices. The post PS5 Screenshot and Video Captures Coming to the App in the Americas appeared first on Siliconera. |

Atlus provided more details about Aiho-kun via a new tweet on the Japanese official account for Soul Hackers 2. The DLC code included inside the 25th Anniversary Edition will let players unlock Fusions that result in Aiho-kun. The company also teased that this particular demon will have an exclusive skill. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, February 23, 2022 7:30 PM Initially released back in the early 2000s on consoles, the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance duology of action RPGs attracted quite the following. Unfortunately, many PC players did not have the opportunity to join said following for the longest time, as both games remained exclusively on consoles for around two decades. That thankfully changed late last year when the original installment saw a rerelease on PC for the very first time. And now, developer Black Isle Studios has revealed on its Twitter page that Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II will follow suit and come to PC sometime this year. Black Isle Studios posted a brief teaser trailer within its announcement tweet. It does not feature much other than the massive numbers "II" and "2022" emblazed against a fiery background in all their glory. Additionally, Black Isle Studios teased that the PC port will come "sooner than you think" and that the dates it will announce "will hopeful... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, February 23, 2022 6:00 PM Did you ever want to play Cyberpunk 2077 in VR? Well, you'll likely be able to next week, as a mod is coming that'll bring Night City to your headset. Luke Ross, a modder who also created a VR mod for Red Dead Redemption 2, recently posted an update on his Patreon with a tech demo video showing off the game running in VR. In addition to this, Ross has stated that the mod will be released "by the end of next week," even if he isn't satisfied with the current level of polish. Someone likes to live dangerously. The five-minute video included below shows what's basically a tech demo for Cyberpunk 2077's VR mod. Ross breaks down some points of interest on his Patreon alongside the video. He mentions how solid the performance is despite the jump to VR, as well as how truly immersive walking around the city is due to the game's design. The video does an admirable job of giving you a good idea of how the game's elements work with VR, and... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, February 23, 2022 5:30 PM Dragon Age 4 development is chugging along, and is "in the middle" of production according to an update by BioWare's general manager, Gary McKay. There are of course ups and downs in game development. McKay writes that the studio is pleased to reach this latest milestone. However, in more ambiguous news, it also marks a point when BioWare says goodbye to another key member. Christian Dailey, who was the executive producer for Dragon Age, has departed. "As we continue our journey, we wanted to wish Christian Dailey a heartfelt farewell from BioWare," McKay writes in the Dragon Age update post. "Christian started with us back in 2018 and has been a big influence on our games and leadership team, most recently as Executive Producer over Dragon Age's development. The games industry is ever-changing though and sometimes folks want to go and try new things – we understand, but we will miss him as a friend and as a colleague. " For the most ... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, February 23, 2022 4:00 PM Of all the games that came out in 2017, Yoko Taro's NieR: Automata stood tall as one of the most impactful. Its predecessor NieR already had a significant cult following, but the sequel's more polished gameplay mechanics and presentation, as well as its compelling narrative elements, helped make it a surprise hit. The game's success also resulted in a few crossovers with noteworthy games, like Soulcalibur VI and Fall Guys. As of right now, it appears that the hype surrounding NieR: Automata has not subsided one bit, as Square Enix just revealed that the game will receive an anime adaptation. This announcement came alongside a brief teaser for the show. Aside from a piece of concept art depicting protagonist 2B and her robot companion Pod 042, the trailer did not show any substantial information. Even so, fans of the game will likely appreciate the lines of text that read "All beings were designed to perish" and "We're still trapped… in... |

Reports of anything otherwise are incorrect. We look forward to sharing more details when the time is right." The original story, published on February 22, is as follows. For the first time in nearly two decades, a Call of Duty game may skip a year. The annual tradition of shoehorning Captain Price in a game is set to end, according to a report by Bloomberg. Activision Blizzard will supposedly delay the Call of Duty game scheduled for 2023, as candid concerns regarding quality and oversaturation may have entered talking points. The news comes shortly after the publisher officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Earlier this month, Activision confirmed the rumors in a community update.
