If there's one thing to be said about Skyrim, it's that it's a pretty game. From day one (cast your minds waaaay back), it's been held aloft for its visual qualities. Okay, the vanilla release has aged massively, but we have ways of milking this RPG cow.
As noted by DSO Gaming, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim still has some life left in it, to the point where it can be reinterpreted in a different engine for that umph in graphical acuity. In this instance, YouTuber L. Torres has rendered the game in Unreal Engine 5, specifically by showing us a walkthrough of Riverwood.
The resultant footage casts a new light on Skyrim, quite literally. The render uses version 5.4 of UE, along with some additional tools for that extra detail, such as Lumens for the lighting and Blender for the textures and modeling.
Sadly, NOT coming to a Skyrim near you
The above footage speaks for itself. We get to see a different take on Riverwood, with far more advanced visuals, such that you can be forgiven for thinking this is a separate game entirely. Given that TES5 was released in 2011, L. Torres' video easily demonstrates just how far video game technology has come over the past decade or so.
It should be mentioned that this walkthrough is not a showcase for any upcoming mod that's currently in the works, official or otherwise. As the creator says, this is a fan-made "cinematic lore [visualization] for the Elder Scrolls" and nothing more.
We've seen a few instances of Skyrim being reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, showing the possibilities of a remake or what things could have been like had Bethesda released the game just a couple of years ago. Honestly, it fascinates me that people are still tinkering with the aged RPG, squeezing as much life out of it as they can. Here's to the game being rendered in UE6 when that comes out, because you can't flog a dead horse if said horse is alive and well.

Windows sucks. I feel that this is not an awfully controversial statement in this day and age at all. It's just that every other desktop operating system sucks at least a tiny bit more than Windows does. Yet, Windows 11's latest 24H2 update is particularly problematic on Intel CPUs.
I'm not sure what it is about Windows 11 24H2 that makes it such a performance hog, but boy howdy does it love eating up unnecessary CPU cycles whenever it feels like doing so. You may recall that 24H2 in particular had substantial performance problems just a few months back, on top of breaking support for a number of Ubisoft games (among a myriad of other issues). Well, we're in for it once again, as the tech and hardware website Neowin has discovered a new performance problem on the cutting-edge Intel CPUs.
![]()
Windows 11 42H2 is throttling Intel Ultra 9 CPUs
More specifically, it would seem that the latest Intel Ultra 9 285K CPUs are being aggressively throttled in Windows 11 24H2 for whatever reason. This is even more notable considering the fact that Microsoft lists this specific CPU as fully supported by the OS. Further, this problem doesn't appear to be present on other higher-end Intel CPUs from generations prior. Neowin states that they've been unable to reproduce the throttling issue on the last-gen Intel i9-12900K, and it's not popping up with Ryzen 9 9950X either, which is notable because it is not officially supported as of 24H2.
It's a bit of a mess, frankly, but if you're running Intel's cutting-edge, top-of-the-line CPU and having problems with gaming performance, this may well be it.
I've happily not been having major problems with Windows 11 in any respect yet, but I'm eager to move on to greener pastures if and when that becomes a realistic option. Alternatives such as SteamOS sound more and more enticing the longer I spend dealing with Microsoft's forced updates and general instability, and I've been using Windows for a very long time now.
On that note, the general release of SteamOS just isn't here yet, which I am quite sad about. Might it be that Valve has simply given up on launching the OS for general-purpose use, choosing instead to stick with the more closed-off Steam Deck hardware lineup? Could be, though I'm hoping that's not the case.
The fact of the matter is that Microsoft has been sitting on its laurels as far as desktop PCs go for far too long, and even though I'm sure a future hotfix will resolve this particular set of performance problems, it's just a matter of time before more pop up. The OS itself is ever-changing, annoyingly so, which makes it hardly as reliable as it should be. Yet, with no proper alternative to Windows OS, it is what it is.

Fine Windward Aloe is one of the several Special Items you can find in Monster Hunter Wilds, and it will help you to complete a specific quest inside the game.
Special Items typically represent a group of unique goods not used directly as crafting ingredients. Instead, they're mainly used to trade for vital resources from NPCs. Finding Fine Windward Aloe can be tricky, but knowing their locations will help narrow your search.
How to get Fine Windward Aloe in Monster Hunter Wilds
The first place where you'll come across this particular item is in the Windward Plains region. You must complete Chapter 1-4, titled "A Hunter's Pride". Once done, open the map and look for Windward Succulent. These plants will provide you with Windward Aloe and its Finer variant (after you have progressed more on the main questline).
You'll be disappointed if you're looking for Windward Aloe directly on the map. Instead, look out for the Windward Succulent plants and where they're located in the Windward Plains, and you'll find joy.
Once you've obtained the item, head to the Windsong Village in Windward Plains. There, you'll find an NPC called Kilama - the trader of that location. Ask to see her goods, and you can trade the Fine Windward Aloe you obtained with Kunafa Cheese, which will be required later. This specific item is also used in different recipes, so there's no harm in farming as much Fine Windward Aloe as possible. If you get the basic Windward Aloe, the only difference is the amount of Kunafa Cheese you can obtain.

Best spot to farm Fine Windward Aloe in Monster Hunter Wilds
The process of collecting Fine Windward Aloe and its base variant is the same. The source is also the same as you have to harvest Windward Succulent. The map will change slightly once you have progressed more, and you'll start getting the fine variant. However, the location I am in the image above will always be your best spot to find Windward Aloe.
