Diablo 4 gets Necromancer buffs, devs announce Season 4 PTR

Diablo 4 hasn't been able to maintain consistent quality across the updates it's received since last year's launch. Its first season was underwhelming, though it was followed up by a much more successful, vampire focused Season 2. Then, soon after that rebound, its current, third season, Season of the Construct, launched with disappointing bonus event rewards and without the inclusion of anticipated features like Gauntlet. Now, with Blizzard's latest campfire chat, we've learned what the game's immediate future will look like — which includes changes like Necromancer getting buffed, Gauntlet finally launching, and a Season 4 Public Test Realm previewing more of what's to come.

Now, thanks to a new update that's just launched, it's easier than ever to check out what Remnant 2 has to offer with friends.      Best racing sim cockpits in 2024

The best racing sim cockpits elevate games in a way not dissimilar to VR headsets. They accurately reproduce the driving positions and the placement of instruments you would be manipulating in a real car, making your game feel much more tactile and immersive.

When shopping for a racing sim cockpit, you're going to come across the same names quite frequently. The biggest players in the game are Next Level Racing and Playseat who comprise the majority of our picks. This is for good reason as this is what most people are buying owing to their build quality, customizability, and features which is what we'll be looking at to determine our choices.

We will also factor in the value on offer, and how well-suited they are to different racing games such as GT, track, rally, and Formula One. The Next Level Racing GT Track Cockpit which we believe to be the best pick overall, as you won't be wanting for much else any time soon and leaves the door open for their Motion Platform if you really want to take racing sims and run with them. Some options even negate the need for the best PC speakers thanks to built-in sound systems which further drive home the immersion.

What are the best turn based RPGs? These games are about character evolution; the nature of progression and the choices you can make means that your abilities and journey may never entirely be the same across multiple playthroughs. They're also about offering robust combat mechanics and making the best use of your squad as a team working towards a common goal.

While this list may have a lot in common with our guide to the best RPG games, turn based RPGs tend to focus more on squad-based combat and have roots in the classic tabletop RPGs of old. Games in this niche are often similar to turn-based strategy games, though to make the distinction relevant, we're focusing on games with more pronounced RPG features. You may have noticed that SSDs got extremely cheap towards the end of 2023, and then they rebounded somewhat in 2024. We normally expect better deals at Black Friday than during the rest of the year, but this is something a bit different, with oversupply in 2023 leading to significant reductions that aren't likely to be repeated in 2024. However, there are still some better deals than others, and unless you can hop in a time machine they're still well worth covering.

That's a shame, but I have still have two to four articles to share with you, and I'm going to start with this ultrawide monitor from Lenovo, the Legion R45W-30. This is a huge 45-incher, offering what is essentially two 1440p 165Hz screens side-by-side. It normally retails for £799, but today Very are offering it for £100 off - £699. That's a good price for what is essentially two mid-range gaming monitors seamlessly joined into one.

Metal Gear Solid Cyborg Ninja final battle statue

Konami and Gecco opened pre-orders for the new scaled figure depicting the Metal Gear Solid Cyborg Ninja, Frank "Gray Fox" Jaeger, during his final battle at Shadow Moses. People living anywhere worldwide can place an order for $359.99. The 1/6 scale statue will stand at around 300 mm (~11.81 inches).

Gecco had previously released a statue of the Cyborg Ninja with the same scale in 2019. While the previous version depicted the character in his complete form, this new version will replicate the moment right after he took a hit from Metal Gear REX during the decisive battle at Shadow Moses. As a side note, Kotobukiya's 1/100 scale model kit of Metal Gear REX also includes a miniature figure of the Cyborg Ninja that lets the owner replicate the same event.

The Final Battle edition will show extensive damage to the Cyborg Ninja's left side. Other than the damage to the helmet and Gray Fox's face, this statue will also depict the complete lack of his left arm.

Here are some of the sample images for the new statue:

This scaled statue is inspired by the final battle sequence in the 1998 PlayStation game Metal Gear Solid. In October 2023, Konami released the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 compilation that includes this game on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Gecco will release the Metal Gear Solid Cyborg Ninja -The Final Battle Edition- 1/6 scale figure between August 2024 and October 2024.

Monster Hunter Hunters Bar WEST in Osaka Japan

Capcom and Pasela announced that they will open a permanent Monster Hunter-themed bar in Osaka, Japan. The Hunters Bar WEST will have its grand opening on the fourth floor of Pasela Resorts Namba Dotonbori on March 1, 2024.

This will be the second permanent Monster Hunter bar that Capcom has set up in Japan. After previously offering real-life reproductions of Monster Hunter World's Chef's Choice Platter at a temporary bar in Tokyo in late 2018, Capcom eventually opened its first permanent bar in Akihabara in 2020. Likewise, the Western branch in Osaka had multiple sporadic temporary appearances before Capcom settled with a permanent spot.

The new Osaka branch will have a playing spot where people can enjoy Monster Hunter World: Iceborne multiplayer co-op sessions with preset accounts on the PlayStation 4. It will also feature five exclusive meals and drinks that people cannot find in the Akihabara bar. The bar will also actually use zenny as its currency, although people can pay the amount in Japanese yen.

Here is the menu list, along with the prices in zenny/yen and the converted US dollar prices with the exchange rate on February 29, 2024:

  • Arch-Tempered Xeno'jiiva drink: 880 zenny (~$5.88)
  • Arch-Tempered Lunastra drink: 880 zenny (~$5.88)
  • Downy Crake potato salad: 935 zenny (~$6.25)
  • Risen Teostra explosive tantanmen noodles: 1,320 zenny (~$8.83)
  • Velkhana cheese risotto: 1,320 zenny (~$8.83)

Hunters Bar WEST will not be the only game-themed restaurant to open at Pasela Resorts Namba Dotonbori. The same facility is also hosting a Final Fantasy-themed Eorzea Cafe, which has been operating on the fifth floor since 2017.

The Monster Hunter-themed Hunters Bar WEST will open in Osaka, Japan, on Friday, March 1, 2024.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect

BlazBlue is an interesting franchise, and I say that with some level of generosity. I've been playing the games since Calamity Trigger released, but have always found the story hard to follow. So the idea of a 2D roguelike that could potentially catch me up on the events of the game was extremely enticing. I like BlazBlue and I like roguelikes, so I figured it could be a winning combination. While BlazBlue Entropy Effect attempts to bring the 2D-fighter into another genre and manages to do so with competence, it leaves something to be desired.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect has very little to do with BlazBlue. Players assume the role of a small robot that can more or less assume the shape of a BlazBlue character when entering a "digital" world that comprises a variety of different neon-colored stages. Outside of the inclusion of one specific character outside the roster of characters you can unlock, there isn't much connective tissue there. Instead, the narrative of the game is relatively sparse and concerns the work of the robots as they continue to reconstruct memories in the face of entropy. (Entropy was also once used as a game mechanic that would slowly degrade your HP, but it has since been removed from the game.) That is where any connection to BlazBlue basically begins and ends with. Yet, despite this, Blazblue Entropy Effect translates the skills of these individual characters to perfection.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect
Image via 91Act

A total of ten different characters can be unlocked, which includes more than a handful of notable figures from the series. These people are unlocked through the acquisition of Analyzers, which are obtained through obtaining AP or by completing missions. AP is collected by working your way through stages and are not lost upon death. Which means you can quickly farm AP to obtain Analyzers to unlock more characters once you grow bored of a particular playstyle. BlazBlue Entropy Effect doesn't deal in different weapons, but instead is focused on obtaining more moves and passives for the character you are choosing to potentially complete a run with.

The first character I obtained was Ragna the Blood Edge, recurring character and the protagonist of Calamity Trigger. His moveset was immediately familiar to me, as I have some experience Arc System Works 2D-Fighters. Ragna uses his signature kicks and punches, followed up with slow, heavy swings from his sword. But what made him so exhilarating to play was the need to balance your special attacks (which often consume your HP) and HP siphon from your skills. This gave me something else to factor in when fighting bosses, though the HP siphon and drain did help keep me alive through the most difficult situations depending on how skilled I was with the character. Basically, each character starts with a default move and skill, and as you progress through stages you can unlock more and eventually enhance these abilities, making them even more powerful and giving them more effects. This is what makes BlazBlue Entropy Effect stand-out compared to other games that occupy the roguelike genre.

Everything in the game is extremely dependent on the moveset, movement, and playstyle of each character. This is what you will need to take into consideration, as Noel, Jin, or Taokaka do not play like Ragna, either due the speed of their attacks or even the range. In some ways this could be frustrating if players don't gel with the playstyle of their favorite character, but it opens up room to experiment with different characters' feel and weight. Jin was my main in the fighting games, but I really didn't enjoy his playstyle and ended up playing as Ragna and Hakumen for most of my time with BlazBlue Entropy Effect, which gave me a new appreciation for those characters. Because the characters are what more or less define the game.

Blazblue Entropy Effect
Image via 91Act

Outside of selecting and upgrading moves, players can pick from several different types of elemental enhancements on their weapons. These can include fire, poison, umbra (dark), light, and ice. Each of these enhancements can come in several different rarities, with the highest rarity providing the most beneficial effects. (That is usually just more damage.) Personally, I found that this is when BlazBlue Entropy Effect started getting a bit stale. It's a mechanic that is pretty stock and standard as far as enhancements go, and it doesn't have the same kind of depth as other 2D roguelike platformers like Dead Cells.

That staleness permeates the stages as well. While the game has gorgeous visuals, the levels tend to all look the same. Everything involves mostly unremarkable 2D neon washed landscapes. It's pseudo futuristic and grows old. Especially as stages themselves are relatively short and concerned with clearing waves of enemies that are on platforms above or below you. Sometimes traps are involved, but the addition of them feels negligible at best. I never found their addition to be particularly interesting, as they mostly appear as laser walls that you can dash through or jets of fire that spew flame intermittently. These traps can also appear while fighting bosses, which can make movement more difficult, but with the right builds you can wipe the floor with most of them.

There are also very few types of stages available, which are split into stages where you can get HP back, increase your max HP, purchase various upgrades, or obtain enhancements at random. This is basically the rotation of different rooms you get, but because there isn't any kind of significant story interaction there by comparison to a game like Hades, runs feel mindless and like you're more or less just grinding to see how to best optimize the moves and enhancements you've been given this time around.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect
Image via 91Act

But one of the best bits of BlazBlue Entropy Effect is the user interface and general visual design. The game looks great. As mentioned before, moves are fluid and well animated, and the user interface itself adheres to the overall theme of the game. It's slick, cybernetic, and minimalistic, but also vibrant and fresh. Everything about the way this game looks is fantastic, and it's definitely one of the best looking roguelikes I've played in awhile.

Overall, BlazBlue Entropy Effect is an enjoyable roguelike that players will no doubt be able to play for more than a handful of hours. It sets itself apart from other games within the same genre due to it's strong focus on characters and character builds, but the same-ness of stages leaves something to be desired. However, due to the limited stages and lack of engaging story it may not be too enticing for those looking for a roguelike with a little more substance.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect is available on PCs.

sparkle trailer star rail

With only a few hours left before Sparkle appears in Honkai: Star Rail for her debut banner, HoYoVerse has put out a short trailer and a Keeping up with Star Rail tutorial on her kit. Owlbert seems to have forgotten to fix the title of the Keeping up with Star Rail video though.

For starters, the "A Moment Among the Stars - Sparkling Tricks" is very short, at under a minute long. It uses traditional 2D animation, featuring Sparkle in Penacony. It seems to give a hint as to what role Sparkle will play in the overall Penacony story arc, as she implies that she plans on jumping in at the climax of the "performance" and messing things up.

You can watch the "Sparkling Tricks" trailer for Sparkle here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRcAoPrw1R0

As for Keeping up with Star Rail, Sampo and Owlbert help to introduce how Sparkle will work in-game. HoYoVerse has already given us a lot of information about her kit though. She will be a Quantum Harmony character who specializes in SP management. Not only can she give an extra SP with her passive Talent and restore it with her Ultimate, but she can also boost characters' Crit DMG and such when they use SP in battle.

You can watch the "Sparkle Ability Intro Vid" for "Keeping up with Star Rail" here:

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available for the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Sparkle and Jing Yuan will appear in the gacha from February 29 to March 26, 2024.

Apollo Justice Ace Attorney character popularity poll

Capcom has opened a character popularity poll for Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy worldwide. People can place a vote for their top favorite character via X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

To join the poll, the account owner can click the Vote button for their favorite character on the webpage. The latter will generate a tweet with specific hashtags, all of which must be retained for the vote to be counted as valid.

An account is restricted from choosing more than one character, as Capcom will nullify the account's vote otherwise. The account owner can still post tweets featuring the same character and hashtags, although Capcom will still only count a single vote from the account.

After the polls close on March 6 or 7, 2024—depending on the time zone, the Ace Attorney series art director Takuro Fuse will draw new illustrations for the top three characters. Capcom will announce the results while revealing the new illustrations on Friday, March 29, 2024.

The Japanese version of the poll webpage has an additional segment for a sweepstakes campaign that Capcom is holding exclusively in Japan. 50 lucky people who reside in Japan with a valid address and participate in the poll with the Japanese version hashtags can win merchandise that features the new illustrations of the top three ranked characters.

The Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy character popularity poll is open until Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 8 PM PT / 11 PM ET. The poll will also close at the same time in Japan on March 7, 2024, at 1 PM JST. The visual novel trilogy is readily available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper Terra Cloud Lightning sprite lights

Square Enix opened pre-orders for new pixel art lights modeled after character sprites from Final Fantasy Record Keeper. The lineup will consist of Final Fantasy XIII's Lightning, Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy VI's Terra Branford (who is alternatively known in Japan as Tina Branford).

These products will be based on character sprites from Final Fantasy Record Keeper, the Android and iOS mobile game that launched in Japan in September 2014 and is still ongoing in the country as of early 2024. Square Enix previously launched a global version in 2015, but it shut the latter down in September 2022.

The pixel art lights will have varying heights and widths based on each character sprite, but they will be around 100 mm (~3.94 inches) tall on average. All items will have the same depth at 32 mm (~1.26 inches) and a price tag of 3,520 yen (~$23.50).

Here are the sample images for the Final Fantasy sprite lights in isometric view:

Japanese game companies have been selling lights based on pixel sprites of video game characters. In October 2023, Bandai revealed a sprite light modeled after Kirby from the SNES game Kirby Super Star, which it eventually released in January 2024.

The Final Fantasy Record Keeper sprite lights of Cloud Strife, Terra Branford, and Lightning will be available on June 15, 2024.

jotaro dio pop up parade figures

Good Smile Company opened up pre-orders for Pop Up Parade figures of Jotaro and DIO from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders. Pre-orders will close on March 27, 2024.

If you order from the North American store, they'll cost $30.99 each. Meanwhile, the Japanese store has them for 4800 JPY. They'll come out in August 2024 for those who live in Japan, and Q1 2025 for those who live in North America.

As Pop Up Parade figures, both the Jotaro and the DIO figures stand at around 17-18 centimeters in height. Jotaro's pose has him pointing at someone or something while he has his usual stoic expression on his face. DIO's is a bit more sedate. He's standing there in a menacing way while his hand is on his hip. Both of these poses are familiar ones that they use quite a bit in official art. However, usually, their Stands appear behind them. The Pop Up Parade figures will not come with anything for you to use to recreate Star Platinum or The World.

Other JoJo's Bizarre Adventure figures from Good Smile Company include Nendoroids of Jolyne, Giorno, and Rohan. Nendoroids, while smaller, allow for a wider degree of personalization, since you can change the expressions and pose for them.

The JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Jotaro and DIO Pop Up Parade figures will be available for pre-order until March 27, 2024.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Art Celebrates FFVII Rebirth With Sora and Sephiroth

In honor of the launch of FFVII Rebirth, the Kingdom Hearts social media account shared Kingdom Hearts 4 art of Sora with Sephiroth. It directly references a real ad campaign in Japan.

We can tell that this is Kingdom Hearts 4 art, because it is set in Quadratum. Sora is in Shibuya in front of the 104 buildings. Every billboard and screen shows the one-winged version of Sephiroth that appeared throughout the Kingdom Hearts series. You can see it in the message below.

https://twitter.com/_KINGDOMHEARTS/status/1763215930925187342

As mentioned before, this piece of celebratory art actually references something happening in the real world right now. In Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan, there are similar ads actually airing for the game. However, in that case, the imagery eventually results in seeing the version of Sephiroth from Nibelheim with the flames behind him in FFVII Rebirth, rather than the Kingdom Hearts version featured in the image above. That is running in Shibuya until March 3, 2024.

Square Enix shared a video of how that looks on the Japanese FFVII Remake social media account.

Konosuba Season 3 Is a Spring 2024 Crunchyroll Anime

Crunchyroll announced it picked up four Spring 2024 anime series, and one of them is Konosuba season 3. Ahead of its debut, a preview will appear at the La Mole Mexico City convention that will be held March 15-17, 2024.

The four new anime that will be joining Crunchyroll in Spring 2024 are A Condition Called Love, Konosuba season 3, Kuramerukagari, and Kurayakaba. Only the portion referencing Konosuba mentioned an April 2024 release window. However, Crunchyroll's spring additions each year all always start in April, with the 2022 and 2023 roundups being good examples. So odds are all of them will start their runs throughout the month.

The announcement also didn't bring up any details about dubs or subs for the shows. Every new release gets an English subtitle option, but Crunchyroll also offers subs in other languages. Also, a dub usually isn't guaranteed for an anime. In the case of Konosuba, however, there are English, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese dubs for past seasons, as well as for the An Explosion on This Wonderful World Megumin spin-off.

A Condition Called Love, Konosuba season 3, Kuramerukagari, and Kurayakaba will be streaming worldwide when the Spring 2024 anime season begins in April 2024.

guilty gear epos card

A Guilty Gear Strive Epos Visa credit card will debut in Japan on March 15, 2024. If you fulfill certain conditions when you sign up for a card, you'll be able to receive a canvas board of he art on the card. [Thanks, Marui Anime!]

There are two versions of the Guilty Gear Strive Epos card. One of them has a close-up of Sol Badguy. The other one has the Guilty Gear 25th Anniversary logo on it. If you already have an Epos card, but you want to switch to one of these designs, you'll need to pay an additional 1000 JPY fee.

Kenta Asano, a 2D illustrator for the game, was the one who drew the Sol art that's on the card and the canvas board. If you want to be able to get it, you'll need to either sign up for a Guilty Gear Epos card or switch to it from your current Epos card. After that, you need to make purchases totalling over 10,000 JPY within three months. This is the only way to legitimately obtain the canvas board, since it's not for sale.

Guilty Gear Strive first came out in 2021 as the next mainline title for the Guilty Gear series. It plays somewhat differently than previous games in the entry, such as adding in the Wall Break feature. In August 2022, about a year after its initial release, Arc System Works announced that it sold over 1 million units of Guilty Gear Strive, which was a first for the company.

Guilty Gear Strive is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

The Tower of Fantasy Evangelion update will bring Asuka Shikinami Langley, Pen Pen, Angels, and EVA 00, 01, and 02 on March 12, 2024. A new trailer for the 3.7 update that highlights the additions and new images show what people can expect when it all arrives.

First, here's the full trailer for the Tower of Fantasy Evangelion crossover update in version 3.7. It begins by announcing the state of emergency for Mirroria, with troops and people all waiting for the attack. Then, we hear the line, "They're here." It is then that the Angels attack. First, we see Fourth Angel, who is also known as Sachiel. That's followed by a glimpse of the second form of the Tenth Angel, who was known as Zeruel in the original series. (The fact that this is the second form shows this is based on the Rebuild of Evangelion depiction.) That's followed by footage of the EVAs and the Asuka simulacrum that will be playable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf_jI3A7J1s&ab_channel=TowerofFantasy

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Traveling Korok plushes

Nintendo and San-ei Boeki have released new plushes modeled after the traveling backpack Korok from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. These plushes are now available for purchase at Nintendo's physical stores in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto for 3,300 yen (~$22) each.

The polyester plushes are available in two variations: One features a green Korok with a brown backpack, and the other has a yellow Korok with a red backpack. The plush has a height of 17 cm (~6.69 inches), but this measure only applies to the Korok from its feet to the tallest tip at its head.

Nintendo also opened online orders for the Korok plushes on the Japanese My Nintendo Store. However, the online stocks for both items were sold out within just a few hours after the opening.

San-ei Boeki had previously revealed the backpack Korok plushes in late November 2023. The Japanese merchandise producer originally planned to sell these plushes in mid-February 2024. While the company managed to release the plushes within the same month, it slightly missed the mark as February 29, 2024, falls right at the end of the leap year's month.

The traveling Korok plushes are now available at Nintendo Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto physical stores. These plushes are modeled after the Koroks that appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, available immediately on Nintendo Switch worldwide.

Google Chocobo to See Cloud and Chocobos

In honor of the launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, searching for related terms on Google like Final Fantasy, FFVII Rebirth, and Chocobo will cause Cloud and Chocobos to race across the screen. This all started following the February 29, 2024 launch of the latest game.

The Chocobos don't immediately run across the screen. Rather, searching for a related topic on Google then causes a yellow button with a Chocobo on it to appear on the screen. Pressing it causes a flock of birds and at least one Cloud riding one to run past. Continuing to press it causes a few stragglers to also dash by. Clicking it once also causes a link to come up that allows someone to share the search so someone else can see it.

Here is a gallery showing the effect and button that appear on applicable Google searches for terms related to FFVII Rebirth.

And here is a list of words we found that someone can Google to cause the effect to pop up:

  • Chocobo
  • Chocobos
  • FF7
  • FF7 Remake
  • FF7 Rebirth
  • FFVII
  • FFVII Remake
  • FFVII Rebirth
  • Final Fantasy
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Note that searching for names of characters, like Cloud Strife or Sephiroth, will not cause the Chocobo button to appear in your browser.

honkai star rail sparkle leaf

LeaF, the composer of "Marenol" and "Ka," made a statement in regards to the Honkai: Star Rail Sparkle trailer. This is due to many similarities between the trailer and LeaF's music videos.

It seems that many people reached out to LeaF about the "Monodrama" trailer after HoYoVerse uploaded it. According to LeaF, they had no involvement at all with the trailer. Neither did Optie or Fiz, who were the designers of the original music video for Marenol. However, LeaF states that there's absolutely no problem with HoYoVerse paying homage to it in the trailer. It seems that this is because it wasn't a one-to-one recreation.

In the tweet, they even encourage more of this kind of content. However, they also stated that everyone, including HoYoVerse, should take the opportunity to advertise them, and added a link to their YouTube channel in the tweet.

In LeaF's tweet, they posted a comparison video between the MV for "Marenol" and Sparkle's "Monodrama" trailer. The scene in question takes place close to the end of the trailer. Psychedelic shots appear one after the other as if you're going through doors. While this idea isn't exactly new—Gekidan Inucurry used this method in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which is a work many netizens have compared the Honkai: Star Rail Sparkle trailer to—the eye, hands, flower, and such are clear references to "Marenol."

https://twitter.com/7eaF/status/1762869442151895184

"Marenol" is a song that you can play on Sound Voltex Vivid Wave. LeaF is the artist, with Optie and Fiz working on the music video. The music video itself has some rather disturbing scenes, and a viewer discretion warning even pops up before you can watch it.
