Ever want to know how long you've been jamming on a game? Xbox users are one step closer to readily available information as part of the console user interface. The feature is still in testing, but certain Xbox Insiders can use the feature with a new update, which is still in the testing phase.

Xbox consoles enabled for Alpha updates as part of the Xbox Update Preview program should see the UI update today. This update brings some bug fixes and a new Guide menu feature to see how much time you've been spending playing a game, along with other game-specific statistics. Here's where to find the new Stat's page, according to a blog post from Xbox:

"Check out the Game activity tab while playing a game and see not just the classic Achievements list, but also a newly added Stats page that tracks things like playtime and more, depending on what game you're playing."

Knowing how many hours you've spent in a game is excellent, especially for games that have an unreliable timer or don't have one at all. What's potentially more exciting is thinking about which other information this new Stats page surfaces. How many total points have you scored online in Madden NFL 22? Where's your most occupied area on Fortnite's island? What's your most used weapon in Halo Infinite? How many jumps did you perform in Ori and the Will of the Wisps? These are all hypothetical statistics, but I'm crossing my fingers for developers to pull fun stats not tied to achievements that I didn't even know I wanted.

Remember, this is an alpha test build. Features can change between now and full public release. Those looking to test out early firmware on consoles should be aware that there may be unstable parts of the interface that could affect gameplay in some ways. If you're worried about running into issues, it's best to wait until features updates are thoroughly tested and pass certification for release.

Are you excited to have an easily accessible game clock on Xbox consoles? What kind of statistics would you like to know about the games you play? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Total War: Warhammer 3's Grand Cathay fights off a daemon horde in a new trailer

Over the course of September, we learned quite a bit about one of Total War: Warhammer III's new factions, Grand Cathay. We've gotten a hint at the strategy game's unit roster and met Cathay's two legendary lords, the celestial dragons Miao Ying and her brother Zhao Ming. A new trailer that debuted today provides a look at how they'll all work together in a massive siege.

In the new trailer, the forces of Chaos march against a fortified city built into the base of Cathay's Great Bastion, a mighty wall hundreds of miles long that protects the nation's northern border from nomadic tribes and, more importantly, the daemons who live in the Chaos Wastes. Cathay's forces take to the field to meet them, and the new clip shows off some of the faction's coolest new hardware and magic.

One of the cool things we noticed was a magic user casting a spell that appears to have deflected an incoming volley of missile attacks on a nearby formation of infantry. Another spell summons a whirlwind that lifts up a large Chaos unit, spinning it around before slamming it into the ground.

Satisfactory's new train collisions look like absolute carnage

Satisfactory Update 5 will be available in the game's experimental branch later this month, and unlike previous releases, this update will focus less on new manufacturing buildings, and more on expanding the basic build options. The devs are holding back a lot of details for the public release, but we do know one thing for sure: we're getting some impressively catastrophic train wrecks.

Update 5 will bring train signals that you can use to manage when your trains are running. Naturally, doring that poorly will cause trains to collide, and as you can see in the trailer below, that means a fantastic display of vehicular carnage. It's just… it's beautiful.

You'll see Update 5 hit the experimental branch on October 26, and the full release onto live servers is expected to come about a month later. The devs have broken down some of the other features that'll be in the update in previous blog posts, but in brief, you can expect a load of new cosmetic build pieces, an easy quick swap option between similar object types, and an easier way to build foundations.

Nickelodeon All Star Brawl Aang KorraAs if there were any doubt in the world, the two "masters of all four elements," Aang and Korra, are making their way into Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Avatars Aang and Korra were revealed as playable characters by publisher Gamemill Entertainment, to the surprise of nobody. What's a Nickelodeon fighting game without the iconic Avatar: The Last Airbender? (Of course, it helps that the two were pretty much leaked through the game's boxart, but I'm sure everyone was expecting at least one of the two.) We didn't just get an announcement of the two iconic brawlers today. The developer also released a set of videos highlighting the movesets of the two. From what I can gather, the two play quite differently from one another, both with styles that fit their unique personalities. But fans should be pleased as both characters have a number of callbacks from their original shows.   When the world needed him most… Aang's moveset utilizes his ...

AMD 30x efficiency increase serversAMD has announced that it aims to achieve a 30x increase in server energy efficiency for EPYC CPUs and Instinct accelerators by 2025. This increase in efficiency is expected to help data centers and servers achieve higher performance in Artificial Intelligence (AI) training and High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications. The goal is not only to offer higher performance, but to do so without spending an absurd amount of power.  Thus, AMD plans to improve the performance-per-watt efficiency of new server chips in the next four years.   However, AMD admits that this is no easy task since there isn't much room for improvements in the energy efficiency of process nodes. Therefore, the company will be focusing on advancements in its silicon architecture as the main method to make its chips 30x more efficient. To achieve the 30x goal, AMD will have to improve energy efficiency at a rate of 2.5x that of the rest of the industry. While this is a tall order, it is worth noting t...
