     Minecraft crab mob vote guide

October 15, 2023 Sadly, the Crab just lost out to the Minecraft Armadillo, but don't fear, we could see the Crab in Minecraft one day...

What is the Minecraft crab? Announced on October 3, 2023, the Minecraft crab is the first of the three Minecraft Live mob vote designs up for your vote in this year's broadcast. If you've never seen Minecraft Live before, then you should know that the mob vote is one of the most exciting features of the livestream, in which you can help decide the next mob to be added to Minecraft.

Minecraft mobs are just one of the many things that we love about the sandbox game - they keep you alive, provide valuable resources, and just look super cute. There are more mobs, creatures, and pets in Minecraft than you can shake a stick at already, but there's always room for more. Thanks to the annual Minecraft Live broadcast, you can even help choose the next adorable (or scary) addition, and the first choice is the cute crab.

     Minecraft armadillo mob vote guide

October 15, 2023 The Minecraft Armadillo is our winner! Get ready to meet the armadillo in Minecraft in the next few weeks.

What is the Minecraft armadillo? Mojang introduced us to the Minecraft armadillo on October 4, 2023, as one of the three designs going up for the public vote during Minecraft Live 2023. Following the reveal of our first choice, the crab, we head in land to find out more about this cute armored mob.

Let's face it, Minecraft mobs are one of the best things about the sandbox game - there's nothing better to come home to at the end of a long day's mining than a farm full of sheep, cows, and pigs, and a menagerie of cats, dogs, and rabbits behind your front door. While there are already over 70 mobs in Minecraft, we can never have too many, and this year's Minecraft Live leaves the next addition up to you, with the Minecraft armadillo bringing a new mechanic to a mob you already love.

Minecraft 1.21 update guide – vanilla update release date speculation

What is the Minecraft 1.21 Update? Each year, a new massive Minecraft update is announced. Thus, each year, we're given a bunch of thrilling new additions and mechanics or significant changes that keep fans coming back to the sandbox game time and time again. In 2024, we're looking forward to an update to the very foundations of Minecraft with the Vanilla update, which makes changes to crafting and adds something pretty special underground.

I don't know how Mojang keeps coming up with these ideas, but they do, and we couldn't be more excited for the Minecraft 1.21 update, also called the Vanilla Update. Minecraft remains one of the biggest selling games of all time, and it's little wonder given the regular attention the devs make to the base game with free annual updates. The 1.21 Vanilla Update was revealed during the Minecraft Live broadcast on October 15, 2023, and we'll spend the next six months or so experiencing all its new features before the full Minecraft Vanilla update release date. Here's everything you need to know about Minecraft 1.21, including new Minecraft mobs, mechanics, and major changes for redstone engineers.

     Minecraft penguin mob vote guide

October 15, 2023 The vote is now over, and, sadly, the Penguin won't be coming to Minecraft just yet. We never know what the future might hold for this super swimmer, though.

What is the Minecraft penguin? Revealed on October 5, 2023, the Minecraft penguin could be one of the next mobs added to Minecraft thanks to the Minecraft Live mob vote 2023. If you've never seen Minecraft Live before, then a little introduction - the mob vote is one of the most exciting features of the annual livestream, in which you can vote for one of three new mob designs to be worked on for the game.

Previous Minecraft mobs added to the game based on viewer votes include the terrifying Minecraft Phantom, the illuminating Minecraft glow squid and the adorable Minecraft allay. There is a strange history of blue mobs winning the Minecraft mob vote, so perhaps the penguin is doomed and the blue and pink Minecraft crab is already our winner. That said, a penguin has been a long-requested addition to the game, so if you don't want that to happen, here's what you need to know about what the Minecraft penguin brings to the table and how to vote for it.

Minecraft mob vote 2023 – the new mobs and how to vote

October 15, 2023 Voting is over, and the Armadillo is the winner! Get ready to fit your wolves with armor!

How do you vote in the Minecraft Live mob vote 2023? The mob vote is the most highly anticipated part of Minecraft Live every year - well, that and the new update announcement. Each October, three new mobs designs are revealed to the community, and we get to decide which one gets developed fully and added to the game.

Last year, the Minecraft community voted the Minecraft Sniffer the winner, which went up against the Minecraft Rascal and Minecraft Tuff Golem for our votes. The Sniffer was added to the sandbox game earlier this year as part of the Trails and Tales update, bringing colorful new plants with it, which the sniffer sniffs out of the ground, naturally. This year, three new mobs will go head to head for your votes, so before you check how to watch Minecraft Live 2023, here's who you have to choose between, and how to vote in the Minecraft Live mob vote 2023.

Cyberpunk 2077's combat just got a lot less overwhelming

I adore the user interface of Cyberpunk 2077. Developer CD Projekt Red manages to blend effective communication of player information like health, ammunition, and cyberware opportunities with an immersive and sleek style that's Night City's own. The same goes for most weapons; looking down scopes can tell you distances and ammo counts, and often plays with your perception to involve you in the world around you. The problem is, this can sometimes be way too distracting to take in during a hectic firefight, so one modder has solved the problem.

The EGX demo for magic school adventure Leximan was perhaps only ten minutes long, but that's all it really needed to confirm that this wordy spell-caster is a riotous delight of a thing that should absolutely be on your radar. Built out of a game jam prototype from 2020, Leximan casts you (sorry) as a would-be wizard who's struggling to make an impact compared to his more verbally proficient schoolmates. In this particular demo, he's woken by a friend to go and assist the school cook with preparing breakfast, but things go horribly awry when a pesky fire elemental turns up to spoil it all.

I'll admit I've been a bit sceptical of Loco Motive since it was first announced a little while ago. Any point and click adventure game that makes a bid trying to be funny like the good old days has a very real chance of being painfully unfunny in my experience (looking at you, Deponia), and I was worried that Loco Motive would fall into the same try-hard pile as other so-called comedy adventures that have come out recently (see also Turnip Boy - yeah, I went there, fight me). But having played a timed 20-minute demo of it at this year's EGX, I'll hold my hands up and say, yep, I'm the one who's been slapped in the face with a giant custard pie here, as Loco Motive is genuinely really quite good, folks, and I'm pleased to report the good old days are still very much alive and kicking. Well, except poor old Lady Unterwald, who carks it within seconds of the game starting, and whose murder you end up getting framed for.

Screenshot of the protagonists from Fate/Samurai Remnant

Following the original Fate/Stay Night visual novel's debut in 2004, the series has since grown into an expansive universe spanning countless games and spin-off titles. With the recent release of Fate/Samurai Remnant in 2023, we wanted to discuss what our favorite projects are in the long-running franchise. Here are the Fate/series games we would personally recommend.

Emiya Gohan hands down. I always found some Fate stories, especially Stay Night, can end up muddying up its overarching plot with the more goofy slice-of-life stuff, but this one lets them lean into it fully, and it pays off. What is lost in terms of drama, lore, or what have you, is more than made up for by seeing Cu Chulainn's part-time job or Sasaki Kojiro enjoying an exquisitely made bacon sandwich. I like the musou-style Extella games a lot, too, and pretty much anything featuring Nero, but Emiya Gohan takes (and bakes!) the cake in the end for me. I still chop carrots in the style they use in one episode. -- Elliot

As a Musou/Warriors connoisseur, the Fate/Extella games immediately caught my highest level of interest. I had long dreamed of a game where I control Servants like Artoria or Cu Chulainn to mow up tons of enemies and wrap everything up with their Noble Phantasms. The Extella games delivered exactly that. The Umbral Star also had very touching stories, and I actually shed a tear at Altera route's ending. But the most surprising thing is that these games were made by Marvelous instead of Koei Tecmo. So, I can't wait to finally get around to diving into Fate/Samurai Remnant to see the latter's response. -- Kite

Fate/Samurai Remnant is the latest game to release in the franchise and is now available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.

Synduality: Echo of Ada

During a special preview event at Bandai Namco Entertainment, I had the chance to try Synduality: Echo of Ada, an upcoming PvPvE mecha looter shooter. The game is being developed as part of the wider Synduality multimedia franchise, that encompasses and anime, manga, and light novel series currently in publication. At the event, director Yohei Kataoka and producer Yosuke Futami gave some information on the upcoming multiplayer mech adventure as well. For example, the game will not only be an online game, as it will count with a single player story mode.

The main gameplay loop of Synduality: Echo of Ada is simple. Online Raid is the main mode at the moment. In it, players sortie into vast maps, look for resources, and fight with enemies and interact with other pilot Drifters. Inside their Cradlecoffin mechs, players will be accompanied by an AI Magus companion that grant them essential intel and skills. Your Magus AI constantly gives advice and input based on your playstyle, preferred weapons, and other data, and they are very chatty. Hopefully, the final release will include English VA for players, as having to look at subtitles can be a major hindrance to players.

Synduality: Echo of Ada
Image via Bandai Namco

The only objective available during my time playing the game consisted of mining a required quantity of AO crystals. While I could extract from the field at any time in the build I played, completing these objectives will be a requirement for progression in the final version of the game.

The multiplayer aspect of the game relies on no preset parties, and no verbal communication between players. Instead, players will have to create uneasy alliances with other players using emotes and other forms of non-verbal communication. While most players will be marked as friendlies, it is possible to choose to betray and attack them for their resources. While the risk of PvE-focused players encountering a lot of PvP players intent on grifting exists, Kataoka and Futami assured that there will be measures to balance the game out, such as your AI Magus partner warning you, and marking the map for hot spots, as well as a reputation system that marks aggressive players intent on PvP as untrustworthy or risky.

Image via Bandai Namco

During my first sortie, I encountered a player Cradlecoffin that I thought was an NPC enemy, and got into a gunfight that I narrowly won. In my second sortie, I found a player peacefully mining for resources, and noticing an emote wheel in my button layout, I tried to say hi to them. This occurred before the developers confirmed that the focus of the game is on multiplayer PvPvE gameplay.

The gunplay in Synduality: Echo of Ada is really solid so far. There are plenty of weapon types in the game already. Aiming feels nice and all weapons feel very powerful. During my three different sorties, I had the chance to try out several different assault rifles, shotguns, and snipers, and I also grabbed a powerful railgun at one point that felt particularly powerful and fun. The weapon and loot system feels familiar, close to something like Apex Legends or Borderlands.

Synduality: Echo of Ada
Image via Bandai Namco

Controlling your Cradlecoffin mech, however, is extremely weighty and even slow. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, at the time I had just finished playing Armored Core VI, and the difference in maneuverability was stark. Cradlecoffin mechs are weaponry closer to tanks, and while they can jump and boost to gain some speed and traverse the uneven terrain, they are very deliberate machines to control, unlike other mech games with gameplay focused on shifting between ground-based and air-based maneuvers.

As for the PvE aspect, enemies in the game (called Enders) will gather near AO Crystals, and some will roam around the map. Enders come in a few varieties so far, and they can overwhelm players easily if they're alone, or under certain conditions, such as heavy rain (which damages your mecha) as well as near bigger AO crystals. PvE enemies didn't feel particularly outstanding so far, but I can see how mixing Enders and other pilots could be an interesting aspect, and lead to some fun and tense scenarios.

Image via Bandai Namco

The Story Mode in Synduality: Echo of Ada will be Amasia Research, and will be PvE focused. In it, players will go through maps with specific preset loadouts for each mission. The player will explore the underground city of Amasia, and will uncover the mystery of what happened in the past to Drifter Alba Kuze and his Magus companion Ada. The developers said that Amasia Research and Online Raid are not fully disconnected, and that the story mode will be an extension of the online mode.

While Synduality: Echo of Ada seems to have a solid foundation, and what I played of the game was fun, releasing a new multiplayer shooter in a market flooded with competitors is a risky endeavor. Hopefully, it's indefinite delay can help the game's developers polish what they have, and expand on the basis of what seems like an ambitious and promising project. Ultimately, whether multiplayer games like these live or die hinges on many factors, but I hope Synduality: Echo of Ada offers plenty of varied content on release, and is properly marketed to its potential audience outside of Japan.

Synduality: Echo of Ada is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

When I see dirt, I know what I must do: clean. Whether it's in my own, real-life home or in a game, I am compelled to scrub, wipe and tidy - and the oily, purple globs of gunk clogging up Loddlenaut's appropriately named region of Flotsam Flats are just begging to be zapped by my little diver's handy laser gun. With just a single squeeze of the trigger, he sets to work, moving his arm automatically to neatly attack each neighbouring blob without any further prompting or manual aiming. All I need to focus on is getting him close enough to the gunge and he'll take care of the rest. Sure, it's perhaps not quite as involved as your PowerWash Sims and other polish em ups, but the combination of Loddlenaut's lo-fi visuals, comforting score and surprisingly soothing controller rumble all work to give it its own kind of zen-like charm - and it was enough to make me forget the surrounding din of the EGX Rezzed Zone for a very enjoyable 20 minutes or so.

Sometimes, the ability to push over a tree was inside you all along. Retrieving woodland traversal skills from the depths of memory is key to Pine Hearts, an easygoing adventure/exploration game that I've spent a very relaxing half-hour with in the EGX 2023 Rezzed Zone.

Pitched as "a racing game for people who don't like racing games," Resistor shows an immediate disinterest in tracks, time trials, or even really the cars themselves. This racing game, I'm told as I sit down to play a demo in the EGX 2023's Rezzed Zone, cares about the person behind the wheel – and their burgeoning camaraderie with a roughneck pit crew.

Volume 2 of the Handyman Saitou Manga Gets More into Lore

The first volume of the Handyman Saitou in Another World manga felt aimed at introducing the party over a series of brief stories, while also helping to establish the world with short looks at other adventurers. It was handled quite well and was quite effective at making the world seem appealing. However, it ended with the suggestion that something else might be going on and a hint at greater mysteries. Now that Yen Press published volume 2, more character background is on display, there's an actual storyline tied to the initial vignettes, and Kazutomo Ichitomo is focusing more on telling a specific story in this entry.

Volume 2 of the Handyman Saitou in Another World manga begins with everyone getting to go deeper into the Great Labyrinth because of Saitou's discovery in the past entry. Saitou, Raelza, Morlock, and Lafanpan didn't get to go first, but they're among the secondary batch heading down into the depths. So are all of the adventurers we happened to see in the past volume, and hey! They get names this time! More characterization too, which is also great. It also means once things get going, it's actually a more structured and typical story, which is handled well considering how the first volume felt more like a compilation of related short stories.

What's fun is that the first fourth of this volume is dedicated to showing more about Saitou and his team, but usually in the context of interacting with these other people so we can know more about them too. Ririza and Gible are my absolute favorite non-members of the party, as every one of their appearances are rather fun. But the growth of Monpui is also pretty good. Not to mention that the antagonists for this installment are absolutely fascinating. Both the first and second entries are great at establishing just how human and multifaceted these characters can be, even if they only appear briefly, and the execution of the ninja and crystal fairy are fantastic. Though, to be fair, Morlock does steal the show for part of this tale as well.

But even though volume 2 of the manga does shift up the format a bit, it still maintains what is great about Handyman Saitou in Another World great. The first fourth of the book keeps up with the concept of vignettes that can sometimes focus on other characters as much as or more than Saitou's party. Once it hits chapter 2 and the rest of the volume, it is much more like a traditional manga that is telling a story as it happens, in order. But even then, there are times when it can feel like, "Yes, I can read this one portion on its own, step away, and enough happened for it to be satisfying for now."

I think what I like most is the potential direction that volume 3 could take. It feels like that installment could be more like volume 2 of the Handyman Saitou in Another World manga. We could see more of these slice-of-life moments showing what warriors go through, while also featuring some story elements over a few chapters that offers insight into characters, the world, and Saitou's situation.

But just generally, everything about how Handyman Saitou in Another World works is fascinating in each volume of the manga. Reading more about other adventurers and what they deal with is always a delight. Noticing how fantasy RPG tropes are twisted to feel fresh is great. Coming to understand what happened to Saitou is also a delight, especially since it isn't a typical isekai. It makes me wish I didn't need to wait until 2024 for more.

Volume 2 of Handyman Saitou in Another World is available now, and volume 3 will release on January 23, 2023.

If you're to successfully grow lots of crops and offer to the Gods every day, then you'll need to learn how to do it properly. Here's how to farm in Harvest Island.
