You can play the best FPS of all time on a robot lawn mower

November 25, 2023: We've just got word that there will be a stream of the Husqvarna Doom tournament finals, so updated the article below with the times.

We've all heard those kinds of stories about people playing the 1993 classic Doom in all sorts of weird ways: Doom on a tractor, Doom inside of Doom, and, of course, the famous Doom on a pregnancy test. However, all of those things have one thing in common: they focus on the single-player game. During my time at Dreamhack 2023, behind closed doors, I got to try out not just Doom on a robot lawn mower, but Doom multiplayer.

TABS and Clustertruck dev announces super-fast new indie game on Steam

When it comes to the most fun indie games on Steam, Swedish developer Landfall Games has to be in the conversation. Its 2016 high-speed vehicle platformer Clustertruck still holds a 93% Steam rating, but even that pales compared to the near-flawless 98% user score held by TABS: Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, the delightful physics-based combat sandbox game from 2021. So what's next for Landfall? The answer is Haste: Broken Worlds, a high-octane platformer about running, jumping, and gliding really fast, and it already looks extremely good.

This 4K LG monitor is the cheapest I've ever seen it. Don't hang about

The LG UltraGear 32GR93U-B has just dropped to its lowest-ever price on Amazon as part of the Black Friday deals. If you're looking to get started with 4K gaming on PC, this is easily a great place to start, especially given how expensive they can be.

We recently reviewed the LG UltraGear 32GR93U-B and consider it to be one of the best gaming monitors of this year. We chose it as the best mid-tier 4K monitor, but that's no slant against this display, especially with a crystal clear 32-inch IPS screen and 144Hz refresh rate. It's RRP of $799.99 / £649.99 had it on par with many other 4K options, but this Black Friday on Amazon, it's taken a 31% discount down to $549.99 / £549.99, the cheapest it's ever been on the site according to price checker CamelCamelCamel.

Shop and save the best Black Friday RAM deals still available

Looking for the best Black Friday RAM deals? You've stumbled onto the right web page. Black Friday is over, but our team of deal experts are scanning the internet for the discounts that are still live. Many retailers have already changed their sales to Cyber Monday deals, which will be on November, 27.

There aren't as many specifications to fuss over when it comes to the best gaming RAM options, but your rig won't get very far without a stick or four of reliable memory. It is an essential component if you want the best gaming PC.

While 8GB is the minimum we recommend for any gaming system, best new PC games are going to need something like 16GB. This will help you meet minimum specs for the latest games, and it'll come in handy if you like to play while running a few Chrome tabs and Discord.

Oh, and don't forget, there's a vital choice to be made when it comes to RGB lighting (no, really). It seems like a ludicrous and unnecessary addition, but there's no quicker way to tell if you've properly clicked in your sticks than by an assault of flashing colors. Whatever your needs, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get some sweet RAM deals over Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend.

Amazon has slashed $500 off this epic RTX 4070 Corsair gaming PC

Normally our advice is to build your own PC because it can be both cheaper and more effective when you can pick your own components. However, this Black Friday, the Corsair Vengeance i7400 is $500 off and way too good to pass on.

Not only does the Corsair Vengeance i7400 contain one of the best graphics cards you can buy, but it's optimized for high-end gaming, and liquid-cooling for the CPU is the cherry on top. Better still, coming from Corsair you know the quality here is going to be held to a very high standard, so for $1,999.99, down from $2,499.99, this PC gaming tower is a steal.

Amazon doesn't specifically list this as a Black Friday deal. But it's certainly a bargain that you can take advantage of this Black Friday weekend. AMD's Ryzen 5 5600X processor is available for just either side of half-price, depending on which side of the pond you live on. Regardless, that's a big chunk off one of the best gaming CPUs around.

When Katharine reviewed the 5600X back in 2020, she called it "a stonkingly fast gaming CPU". It's a six-core, twelve thread processor, with each of its Vermeer processors providing speedy single-core performance, making it an ideal CPU for playing both modern multithreaded games, and older single-thread titles. There are of course plenty of faster CPUs around these days, but you'll pay significantly more for those, and it's only prudent to do so if you're looking to get the highest framerates at 1080p. If you're gaming at 4k, then it's your GPU that'll be doing most of the heavy lifting, and your funds are better spent there.

It's also worth noting that the 5600X is highly power efficient, with a TDP of just 65 watts. This makes it both more economical and more environmentally friendly that a lot of CPUs, an important consideration if your energy bills are making you wince.

RAM is rarely the first consideration when upgrading a PC, as it has a much smaller impact on performance compared to a better processor or a spanking new GPU. But you also won't get without far it, and we are slowly heading toward the point where more RAM is preferable. This year brought a scare when Star Wars: Jedi Survivor seemingly needed a minimum 32GB of RAM. Luckily that turned out to be an error in the system requirements, but as the size and detail of video game worlds exerts greater demand on load times, RAM will become more important. And if you want to get ahead of the game(s), you can get 32GB of rock solid ram for less than £50 this Black Friday weekend.

Dragon's Dogma 2

Over a decade after 2012's Dragon's Dogma, a sequel is finally on the horizon. While the preview trailers and videos have shown exciting new environments and classes, like keeping old features like the Pawn system, there are a few things we're still hoping to see from the full release of Dragon's Dogma 2.

To start with, We hope Capcom continues with its experiments with the class system. The classes (or vocations) revealed so far have been a blend of the old and the new. Though the Fighter, Mage and Magick Archer return, the Mystic Knight has become the Mystic Spearhand with a new weapon. Meanwhile the Strider in Dragon's Dogma 2 has been split into Thief and Archer classes that focus on melee and ranged attacks, respectively. These seem minor changes, but could be signs that larger ones are on the table.

Dragon's Dogma 2
Image via Capcom

For example, the splitting of the Strider into two classes might also mean more advanced vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2. Previously there was both an advanced version of each base class (like the Warrior or Sorcerer), and 3 hybrids combining 2 base classes each (such as the Magick Archer being part Strider, part Mage). Even with the Magick Archer likely the combination of Mage and Archer, that leaves combos like Archer and Fighter open, or even for Thief and Archer to recombine into Strider as an advanced class.

Then there's the duospear weapon, which didn't exist in the original Dragon's Dogma. If there's one new weapon, theres the potential for more. We may have already seen one, as the first trailer shows a magic-user wielding some kind of flail or censer in order to cast a spell. Weapons for the original advanced vocations like the Greatsword, which we've also seen in the trailers, were something of an evolution or variation of the base classes' weapon. In this case, discarding the Fighter's shield to focus on offense. Following that mode of thought, the censer could be an area-focused variation of the staff for the advanced Mage vocation, while perhaps the advanced Archer might wield a less maneuverable crossbow or early firearm as a weapon.

Dragon's Dogma 2
Image via Capcom

Moving on from classes, I'm hoping for more endgame content like the Everfall, Dragonforging or even Bitterblack Isle, which was added in the Dark Arisen expansion. These were meaty dungeons or activities that served as sources of improved gear, as well as new challenges to take on after clearing the story. It's entirely possible something like this might be saved for DLC later down the line, but I'm hoping there'll still be some surprises to explore after the story is complete in the base edition of Dragon's Dogma 2.

The Pawn system returns from the first game and, while I think full multiplayer is likely off the table, it would be nice to see an expansion on the social aspect. For those unfamiliar, Dragon's Dogma has you adventuring with a party of four. You design your player character and a computer-controlled companion called a Pawn. The final two slots in the party are filled by other Pawns, either default ones made by the developers or the Pawns of other players. How you oufit your Pawn for battles, how you direct them or talk to them, even what quests you've completed with them, can all influence how they behave when someone else recruits your Pawn to help in their adventures.

Sometimes you might find a Pawn that really compliments your playstyle, or knows just how to help you through a tricky quest you're stuck on. Then later on, you might meet the same Pawn again, and see how their master has developed them over the course of the game. You can even send gifts or messages back to the Pawn's master when you dismiss them! This is a really unique system that begs to be expanded upon, either through new ways to develop Pawns or to interact with people through them.

Dragon's Dogma 2
Image via Capcom

Above all we just hope Dragon's Dogma 2 keeps some of the obtuse weirdness that made the first game so memorable. We've seen that the Pawns are just as chatty as they were before, but we're also hoping the game retains oddities like the romance selection system, which could result in various merchants or even the court jester being chosen as the player character's beloved if they had high enough affection. Then there's the fast travel, which was expensive and infrequent in the original release before being made more usable in Dark Arisen. While Capcom has already shown off the Ox-cart system for travelling long distances, I hope they don't make other fast travel options like Portcrystals too convenient until at least late game. Having to find your way around the environments on foot meant you got to know them better and made shortcuts more meaningful, though it's a fine line between familiarity and frustration.

Of course, it's entirely possible Capcom has very different plans for what direction it wants to take the game in, but these are just some of the things I'm hoping to see. A lot of what Capcom has been showing off so far for Dragon's Dogma 2 has been extremely promising, but in the end we'll have to wait for release day to see what's in store for our Arisen.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. A recent leak revealed an apparent release date of March 22, 2024.

persona 3 reload release date

Persona 3 Reload releases in early 2024 as a monumental entry. It represents one of the few remakes in series that mostly dealt with the occasional remaster, re-release, or updated version, but never quite a true remake from the ground up. However, Persona 3 Reload should only be the first of several remakes, including a Persona 2 Remake.

Persona 2 has a unique status in the series as not one, but two games that make up its storyline. Innocent Sin released first in 1999 for the PS1 and was followed up a year later with its direct sequel Eternal Punishment in 2000. Sure, Atlus remastered both of these games for the PSP, but only one released outside of Japan.

Persona 3 Reload classroom
Image via Atlus

However, that awkward release isn't even the main issue with these games. Both Persona 2 titles (and the original for that matter) are such a challenge to go back to. I played them for the first time over a decade ago on the PSP, and they were a trudge to get through even back then. If people think Persona 3 needs a remake, it goes doubly so for these two games.

The isometric perspective feels awkward when exploring both in and out of dungeons. The turn-based combat is somewhat similar to later games, but feels slow and like a chore at times. This is all a shame, because the Persona 2 duology offers some of the finest storylines in the series if you can get through the frustrating gameplay.

Both titles focus heavily on the power of rumors. This plays a part in the gameplay, where the player makes choices and spreads rumors for events to happen. It also deals with a very different Joker than the iconic Phantom Thieves leader in Persona 5 and a surprising story with twists and turns.

Without spoilers, both titles feel essential and intertwined with one another to make the overall Persona 2 plot. This is why I feel like a Persona 2 Remake with both games in a singular story could be fascinating. Alternatively, it could come in a package of separate games.

Persona 2 Remake Innocent Sin Eternal Punishment
Image via Atlus

The overall plot and lovable characters can remain the same, especially in the case of the rare female protagonist Maya, but the graphics and gameplay could benefit from a modern touch. It would be nice to see some of the features from the later core titles as well, such as the Persona Compendium and a deep social link system.

The latter is especially vital, since these games introduced romance for the first time. Players could romance and get special endings with a few of the party members, including the first same-sex relationship in the franchise. These games were far ahead of their time at the turn of the millennium but the graphics and gameplay feel severely outdated today. Here's hoping the release of Persona 3 Reload leads to an eventual Persona 2 Remake or two.
