Capcom has updated its platinum titles ranking to reflect sales figures as of December 31, 2022. Platinum titles are games that have passed over one million worldwide sales. The most recent game on the list is from 2021, so the majority of the platinum titles are still legacy games from past years.
The top ten list as of December 2022 is:
In November 2022, Devil May Cry 5 selling 6.1 million units kept it out of the Top 10 list. At the time, Street Fighter II was in tenth place. Since Street Fighter II is no longer as readily available though, Devil May Cry 5 was able to surpass it with time. For a while now, all of Capcom's platinum titles have come from established legacy series such as Resident Evil and Street Fighter.
With anticipated titles such as the Resident Evil 4 remake and Street Fighter VI, as well as active updates for games like Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom will likely continue to enjoy success going forth.

The news of the moment for Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak has to do with the upcoming Title Update 4, but Capcom has more planned. A brief shot of the MH Rise Sunbreak roadmap for 2023 teases further additions, including new monsters and features. Seen during the February 2nd livestream event, the roadmap promised that Title Update 5 is coming in April 2023, roughly 3 months after Title Update 4 drops on February 7th.
Here's a look at the MH Rise Sunbreak roadmap for 2023.
The roadmap trumpets the first three Sunbreak title updates launched through 2022, which added new areas, layered weapons, monsters, and an expanded follower system. As detailed during the livestream, Title Update 4 (version .14) adds Velkhana from Monster Hunter World Iceborne, as well as Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax. Meanwhile, Title Update 5 didn't specify which monsters would be added to the roster, but they will be a "Returning Elder Dragon" and a "Powered-up monster".
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak is available on the Nintendo Switch and PC. The base game is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, with their versions of Sunbreak set to launch in Spring 2023.

It's not Obon season just yet, but restless spirits will get an early Sending. A kabuki stage play of Final Fantasy X will take place in Spring 2023. You will be able to watch it from March 4, 2023 to April 12, 2023 at IHI Stage Around Tokyo. It will have 35 shows during that period. There is a teaser video for it, in which the actor for Yuna performs a Sending. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Renowned kabuki actor Nakamura Yonekichi V will play Yuna in the kabuki show. Holographic Pyreflies appear on stage in the video as well. Unlike the soundtrack in Final Fantasy X, there is a distinctly Japanese feel to this arrangement due to the usage of traditional Japanese instruments. The music director who arranged it, as well as Nakamura Yonekichi V, previously worked on the Nausicaa kabuki stage play.
You can watch the Final Fantasy X kabuki Sending here:
The first half starts at 12 PM and the second half starts at 5:30 PM. Nakamura Karoku V, Nakamura Kinnosuke, and Onoe Ushinosuke will only appear in the second half. The most premium ticket will cost 32,000 JPY (with the cheapest being 19,800 JPY) if you want to watch both parts. The SS and S tickets will also include an exclusive acrylic stand. However, if you only want to watch either the first or second half, tickets start from 11,000 JPY. Note that if you buy tickets for only half of the show, then you cannot get the acrylic stand.
The Final Fantasy X kabuki show will be available at IHI Stage Around Tokyo from March 4 to April 2023.

Making good on its December 2022 statement, Cover taken action against slander and defamation directed at its Hololive VTubers. The Hololive parent company stated that it took measures to handle 146 cases between January and December 2022. It also promised to continue to take action to ensure the safety of its talents.
Per Cover's announcement, the company sent cease and desist notices to offenders, as well as filed requests for disclosure of information. A request for disclosure has already been approved in response to death threats, as it was ruled that the talents' personal rights had been violated.
Disclosure requests have also been filed against online bulletin boards for "particularly malicious postings." Cover noted that three requests had been approved, while three more are pending court proceedings. Three other disclosure requests are pending court proceedings for similar postings on social media sites.
Cover worked with Anycolor, Nijisanji's parent company, to contact and negotiate with aggregator website administrators. Specifically, the two companies reached out to sites that posted content "resulting in defamation or a loss of confidence in our talents/Virtual Livers." A settlement was agreed upon that forbid acts of or aiding rights infringement and defamation against VTubers from both groups.
Should fans come across slander or defamation of Hololive VTubers, Cover asked that they use an official form to report it. The company also mentioned that it will offer its VTubers mental and emotional support as needed.

Aksys is known for certain sorts of titles. It can always be depended upon for otome games, especially on the Switch. It also handles some RPGs, like first-person dungeon-crawlers with turn-based battles. But the third group is the family-friendly fare. Moco Moco Friends or Pretty Princess Party are good examples. Now, it's continuing that trend with Cuddly Forest Friends, which mashes up something of a pet simulation with a minigame collection. It's adorable, to be sure, but also doesn't try too hard to reach people outside of its core audience.
There's only the vaguest hint of a story surrounding Cuddly Forest Friends. The animals of the forest happen upon a letter with a seed. They plant it. Their happiness will help make it grow, resulting in a joyful surprise. Which means you meet their needs, fulfill their requests, and play games with them to work toward that goal.
That's where the lite pet sim elements in Cuddly Forest Friends comes into play. Each in-game "day" begins with some requests. The animals will likely ask for some sort of special food, a piece of clothing they could wear, or a decorative item for the forest. You'll then see if you have enough materials for the projects. After that, you'll send groups of three animals out to different locations to gather materials. While they are gone, you'll also watch and be able to button mash the A button to "Cheer" them on in the name of getting additional ingredients. Once that's done, crafting will begin. Again, you can perform some light button pressing in a more rhythmic fashion to speed up the process and perhaps ensure it will be completed in a single session.
Tasks completed, you'll then get to play a minigame with the animals. While you can play these with others from the main menu, in-game you are limited to three randomly-selected AI opponents aside from the animal you chose. (The one you picked gets a happiness boost.) You then pick one of four random games, with two offering bonus stamps for a stamp card to unlock more minigames. Once that's finished, you can spend time with each of the animals to feed them, pet them, talk to them, and perhaps dress them up. If you crafted food earlier, you'll have a set number of special items aside from the unlimited pellets no animal seems to enjoy. As you increase their happiness, rudimentary profiles unlock additional information for each one going
But, in a way, that gameplay loop in Cuddly Forest Friends can work against it. There are times when I wanted to play more than one minigame. However, because of the progression, I was limited to one from an array of four random options each "day." For a younger player, this would probably work well. That kind of structure would make it easy for a guardian to set a certain gameplay limit. As an older, more experienced player, it feels restrictive.
Which is odd, because some of the minigames are legitimately challenging in Cuddly Forest Friends! A few of them involve Mario Party levels of competitiveness, as you might fight someone for resources or get to somewhat sabotage another person's progress by doing what you are supposed to well. While some are button-mashers, like Wheel-y Fun Race, others require actual thought. The AI in Fluffy Space Race, which involves walking over territory to turn it to your color, can be shockingly good. Fruit Fight is one that can get competitive. Not to mention Pop-Pop Bunny Drop involves carefully watching the timing and hammer swings to take the lead.
The selling points of Cuddly Forest Friends are that it is cute, it is easy for someone to get into and play, and there are an array of different sorts of minigames. It succeeds on all three fronts. The pacing does force you to follow a certain sort of schedule, which might be a bit slow or restrictive for experienced players. Still, that will probably work well for beginners and younger players. For those looking for a more relaxed title or game for kids, it could feel like coming home to fluffy friends. For the sort of game that it is, it handles the concept and material very well.
Cuddly Forest Friends will come to the Nintendo Switch on February 2, 2023.
