Minecraft: Java Edition's latest update introduced a new player reporting tool, which allows players to submit "inappropriate chat messages or dangerous behaviour" for moderators to review. That seems like a good thing on the its face, but many Minecraft players aren't happy that it extends to private servers.

Naturally, because this is Minecraft, players have changed what they don't like. There are now mods which strip messages of information tieing them to your player profile.

     Terraria 1.4.4

Terraria 1.4.4 is extremely close to being finished, according to a new developer blog about the Labor of Love update for the crafting game which also details major improvements to the functionality of the Void Bag storage item. The Void Bag, which is an extension of players' personal storage, is getting some very handy tweaks to make it more convenient to use.

The Terraria State of the Game blog for July, by Loki from developer Re-Logic, opens by stating that "Labor of Love has reached a point where we feel like the end of development is extremely close." They say that the list of bugs and tasks are being whittled down and that, while they can't yet provide an actual release date, "it is starting to come into focus."

The main focus of the blog, however, is the new Void Bag update coming as part of 1.4.4. The Void Bag acts as an extension to a player's personal storage, functioning like a chest that you can carry around with you and store items in as you wish. Unlike other personal storage options such as the Money Trough, the Void Bag also has the ability to automatically store any items collected while your main inventory is full.

Witcher 3 devs' new game sounds like Destiny 2 with ninjas

Ex-CD Projekt developers who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have formed a new studio and are working on an online game with Unreal Engine 5 - and it sounds like a lot like Destiny 2 or Warframe as a ninja game in feudal Japan.

The new studio, Dark Passenger, was co-founded by Jakub Ben and Marcin Michalski - who previously worked on The Witcher 3 and its expansions on the game's art team, lending assistance on the cinematic side of Cyberpunk 2077. Their new indie studio is made up of "game dev veterans and fresh blood specialists" and is currently in production on a new online game set in Japan.

Dark Passenger describes the game as a first-person stealth-focused online multiplayer game with co-op, PvP, and PvE elements - a lot like Destiny 2 - built in Unreal Engine 5. "Our goal," the developer states, "is to create highly exciting online experiences that are focused both on cooperation and rivalry." Players take control of a ninja assassin and join up with other players to take on other clans and search for mysterious objects of "extraordinary power."

Warzone dog skin leads to accusation of plagiarism by artist

A new Call of Duty Warzone dog skin included in season 4 of the battle royale game is the subject of controversy as an artist accuses Activision of plagiarising a design they created two years prior. The 'Loyal Samoyed' skin, introduced as part of the 'Floof Fury' tracer pack, replaces the head of operator Kim Tae Young with that of the giant, fluffy pup breed.

Concept artist Sail Lin claims that the skin, which also sports a black and white patterned scarf and blue camo clothing, closely resembles a design called 'Samoye Medical' that they uploaded to Artstation in December 2019. They posted comparison shots on their Twitter account, along with a statement about the situation.

"I am the original artist that the upcoming CoD Vanguard Samoyed skin was plagiarised from," writes Sail Lin, "Even though I am a CoD player, I am very disappointed to see my work being plagiarised by a big company like Activision in this way." They say that they have reached out to Activision to seek "an explanation and/or compensation."

Dead by Daylight Resident Evil leaks reveal Wesker, Ada Wong

A number of Dead by Daylight leaks potentially reveal some major details about the second Resident Evil crossover, which was announced during the sixth-anniversary celebrations.      Steam blocked in Indonesia alongside Epic Games and Origin

New regulations see multiple large gaming services including Steam blocked in Indonesia after the companies failed to meet a deadline to comply with changes to registration requirements in the Southeast Asian country. Other game industry services affected include the likes of Epic Games, CS: GO, Origin, and Dota 2, along with the likes of PayPal and Yahoo. The blocks are not permanent, but are set to remain in place until the companies agree to comply with the newly implemented regulations.

As reported by Niko Partners, new regulations put in place by Kominfo, the Indonesian ministry of communication and information technology, required companies operating in Indonesia to register with Kominfo by July 29 or face "a formal warning, a monetary fine, and access termination." Now that the deadline has passed, it appears that multiple major IPs in the country have implemented blocks to those companies which have not met the requirements.

Among the names listed as registered on the Kominfo site are Google, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Apple, Netflix, Discord, and Riot Games. It was initially reported that both Microsoft Bing and Blizzard's Battle.net were not registered, but it appears that both companies have been added to the list as of July 29, and some users in the country have reported that the services are still working for them.

FFVII Remake Scarlet

July 29, 2022 was National Lipstick Day in the United States, but that didn't didn't stop Square Enix from sharing some trivia on the official Final Fantasy VII Remake account. The topic of the day was Shinra executive and known wearer of lipstick, Scarlet.

The official account shared some concept art of Scarlet from FFVII Remake. As head of Shinra's Weapons Development division, Scarlet was in FFVII Remake in a minor role. She took center stage, though, when the Intergrade update rolled around. She was the main antagonist of the Yuffie-centered "Episode INTERmission" storyline. She used her resources to confront Yuffie and Sonon, and their clashes expanded players' perspective on the conflict between Shinra and Wutai.

Check out the art pieces in the gallery below.

[gallery link="file" columns="4" ids="932916,932917,932918,932919"]

The FFVII Remake Scarlet Lipstick Day post included concept art of the character and an in-game capture. It also showed off concepts for the Crimson Mare, Scarlet's personal battle armor. According to the tweet, the Crimson Mare's cockpit is custom-decorated, and includes special holders for Scarlet's lipstick and cosmetics. These weren't seen in-game, though.

The Crimson Mare forms the core of a boss fight with Scarlet in FFVII Remake Episode INTERmission. In the original Final Fantasy VII release, Scarlet only saw combat late in the game. She and fellow Shinra executive Heidegger pilot the Proud Clod, a Shinra battle robot, to fight the party.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is available on PS5 and PC. The base Remake game is available on PS4.

ps5 accolades

Due to how little people are using the function, Sony will discontinue the PlayStation 5's accolades system in the near future. It is unknown when exactly it will disappear, though it will be some time in Fall 2022. While you will not be able to send accolades to other players, Sony still hopes that people create a positive gaming environment and community. The news comes courtesy of a notice on PlayStation Japan's support site announcing the change [Thanks, ryokutya2089!].

Accolades are a function unique to the PlayStation 5. You mostly send them to players you had a positive multiplayer experience with. There are three accolades you can send – Helpful, Welcoming, and Good Sport – to define what it was about the player you liked. You can also look at your accolades to see what other players liked about you in your matches.

However, Sony has noted that there are less players using the service than it expected. Because of that, it will discontinue the system. You will no longer be able to send accolades, and it is likely that you will lose all of the accolades you accumulated. Sony did not elaborate on why it thought PS5 users were not using accolades, but not all PS5 games with multiplayer functionality support the feature, or surface it regularly. Accolades are currently supported by first-party titles like Ghost of Tsushima's Legends mode, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Destruction AllStars. Select third-party titles like Black Ops Cold War and Rainbow Six Siege support PS5 accolades, too.

Sony shipped out over 19.3 million units of the PS5 as of May 2022. However, Sony has reported that this number is below its sales target for the console. There are still difficulties in shipments due to issues with the supply chain, as well as shortages. In the same month, sales of the Xbox exceeded those of the PS5 for the first time in Japan.

The accolades function on the PS5 will no longer be available in Fall 2022. The PS5 is available worldwide.

Diablo Immortal player count blazes to 30 million with China launch

The Diablo Immortal player count has skyrocketed to 30 million global installs just one week after it was announced that the RPG game had hit the 20 million players mark. This rapid increase in pace - compared to the seven weeks from launch taken to reach the 20 million point - is likely thanks to the fantasy game finally launching in China on July 25 after a long delay, along with an increased Asia Pacific rollout earlier in July.

"30 million mortals and plenty of demons slain," Blizzard's Diablo Immortal account announces on Twitter. The post also encourages players to log in and claim a thank you package from the developers - and, if you've been following recent news stories about the action-RPG, you might be able to guess what that entails.

That's right, a single legendary crest can be yours, along with six rare crests, to celebrate this new milestone. Claiming it requires a little more work than the 20 million package did, however. You'll have to go through the process of sharing the milestone to social accounts in order to receive your crests - although you can stop short of actually posting the status if you wish and you'll still be able to claim your goodies.

WoW Dragonflight alpha sees Dracthyr Soar nerf, Evoker tweaks

Fans of zipping around the WoW Dragonflight alpha will be sad to learn that a Dracthyr Soar nerf is going to dramatically slow the speed at which the new race can fly around in the MMORPG. In addition, plenty more changes are coming to the Dracthyr's unique class, with a range of Evoker tweaks aiming to fine-tune the newest World of Warcraft class in line with player feedback.

The next Dragonflight alpha build will see the maximum speed of the Dracthyr Soar ability dropped from its current 930% down to 640%. That's a pretty heft change, cutting around a third off the speed bonus offered by soaring. Blizzard says that this change has been made because the Dracthyr's racial ability is available everywhere, and as such there will be no change to the maximum speed of the Dragon Isles Drakes.

"In the Dragon Isles, all characters of all races are on similar footing because everyone can summon a Dragon Isles Drake," WoW developer Sunders explains, "However, this isn't the case in other areas of the game where flying mounts are the mainstay of travel." Sunders compares the pace of Soar to the current 410% speed of epic flying mounts in the Eastern Kingdoms region, noting that the current speed bonus gives Dracthyr "a drastic efficiency advantage over characters of other races when doing non-Dragon Isles content."

Guild Wars 3 in Unreal Engine 5 may be in the works

Is Guild Wars 3 in development at Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet? The studio definitely has an "unannounced project" in pre-production based around "an established online fantasy IP" - and it seems to be a new MMORPG game using Unreal Engine 5.

Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons released in February 2022 and was very well received, which was followed by ArenaNet confirming that it's still prepping the MMO game for a Steam release in late 2022 and a fourth expansion is in the works - but will take "a very long time to develop."

However, a new job listing (spotted by Top Tier List) for a new project suggests that something more than an expansion is in development at the Guild Wars studio. It's based around Unreal Engine 5, apparently, so it seems unlikely that this project is the Guild Wars 2 expansion.

Genshin Impact Sumeru preview

Genshin Impact is just entering the second phase of its Version 2.8 content cycle, but a new Genshin Impact Sumeru preview video shows off more of what's next. The upcomingd region of the game. At the same time, it reveals a number of new, potentially playable characters for Travelers to meet.

Check out the video below, which was uploaded to the Genshin Impact YouTube account on July 29, 2022. English subtitles are available via closed captions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrC7DTUsii8

The Genshin Impact Sumeru preview video features comments from IP Scriptwriter Yogurt and Monster Designer Baiheng. They walk viewers through a view of Sumeru society and the people that live there. Sumeru is split between humid jungle and dry desert, and is home to various critters suited to the area. Humid jungles are ideal for evolving powerful Shroom-kin into Fungi, while the desert's ruins are guarded by ancient machines.

The groups living within each environment of Sumeru have differing ways of life, as detailed in the Genshin Impact Sumeru preview video. The people of Sumeru are governed by an organization called the Akademiya. Under the Akademiya, Sumeru citizens trade in knowledge, and take advantage of a system called the Akasha to regulate knowledge like a resource. The Akasha was bestowed by the previous Dendro Archon, Rukkhadevata. Meanwhile, the Eremites are another society in Sumeru, with roots in an ancient civilization from its desert area.

The video also revealed more new named Sumeru characters, teasing their appearance and revealing their names. Known characters like Tighnari were shown. Travelers will meet Alhaitham in the Port Ormos area. Dehya is a mercenary tied to the Eremites, while Nilou's focus on arts and dancing is seen as a departure from Sumeru's values of wisdom and rationality.  Players will meet characters like Nahida, a mysterious girl, and more.

Genshin Impact is available on iOS, Android, PC, PS4, and PS5. Version 3.0 and Sumeru will arrive after the Version 2.8 events run their course.

Following the news that the GTA 6 protagonists will be a dynamic duo reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde, a brief new report surfaced that said there used to be even more heroes in the crime game, or anti-heroes depending on your perspective. Axios' Stephen Totilo followed up on Bloomberg's initial report and said his sources previously told him Rockster planned on having four GTA 6 protagonists. The original plan was reportedly also to include three cities. Bloomberg's report said GTA 6 will take place in one city at launch – Miami – with future updates adding more locations after release.

Overwatch 2 Patch Mercy Symmetra ChangesMercy and Moira are two hands of the same coin — both healers, both in an Overwatch 2 identity crisis. During the last Overwatch 2 beta, Moira and Mercy received some reworks to put them more in line with the fast-paced nature of the game. However, their reworks received less than stellar feedback, especially as some fans found issues that should have been caught in testing. Activision Blizzard won't give up on changing these heroes, however, with the developers confirming they will continue to update both Moira and Mercy as Overwatch 2 develops. Moira's Necrotic Orb replaced her well-known Damage Biotic Orb in Overwatch 2, firing a straight-moving projectile that explodes when it impacts on an enemy or environment. This projectile inflicted low damage, but added the "Weakened" effect on enemies hit, which reduced the damage they dealt by 75% for 4 seconds. Ironically, this made Moira more passive to play, as explained in the Overwatch 2 blog post. The dev...
