Forgotten classic strategy RPG Shining Force is about to be delisted from Steam

Long before Final Fantasy Tactics and Triangle Strategy and away from the bright spotlight of Fire Emblem, there was Shining Force. Released on the Sega Genesis in 1992, it was like nothing ever seen before on the system. A prequel to dungeon crawler Shining in the Darkness, it combined strategic combat with RPG mechanics to make something that was a breath of fresh air for those on the Sega side of the '90s console wars. Re-released on Steam as part of the Sega Mega Drive and Genesis Classics collection, it's been announced that it'll be delisted soon, meaning this underappreciated classic RPG will no longer be buyable on PC.

The best Viking games on PC 2024

What are the best Viking games on PC? The Vikings weren't the most diplomatic group of settlers in history. The famous seafaring hustlers made haste across Northern Europe, causing chaos wherever they docked. Their devilish deeds remain firmly stamped in our contemporary consciousness; most are familiar with the famous stories of the Edda, the seminal Medieval Icelandic literary works to which we owe much of our knowledge of these Norse brutes.

Viking games see us exploring the mythical underworlds of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and absorbing the souls of freshly dispatched dragons in Skyrim. We also get to inhabit their gnarled leather shoes as we face off against, err, Samurai and Knights in the anachronistic chaos of For Honor. There's a wide variety to ruthlessly conquer, so read if you want to loot and pillage the best Viking games on PC.

Controversial FPS game Six Days in Fallujah gets first single-player missions

Six Days in Fallujah is a squad and tactics-based FPS that takes its mechanical inspirations from the likes of classic Rainbow Six, Swat 4, and the erstwhile SOCOM series. Narratively, however, it is ostensibly rooted in the reality of the Iraq War. Based on interviews with American soldiers, Iraqi soldiers, historians, and civilians, the game recreates events from the Second Battle of Fallujah, when Coalition forces recaptured the city from Al-Qaeda and Ba'ath Party occupiers in November and December of 2004. Until now, Six Days in Fallujah has only allowed for online play. Now, its first two single-player missions are here - rather than playing co-op with three other people, you can play Six Days in Fallujah's campaign solo using its squad-shooter mechanics to command a small fireteam.

GTA 6 release date window, trailers, and latest Rockstar Games news

November 7, 2024: We added the latest GTA 6 news following the Take-Two quarterly earnings report.

When is GTA 6 coming out? Given how many years it takes to create open worlds of the same caliber as GTA 5, it's no surprise that Rockstar Games has already spent years developing GTA 6. The Grand Theft Auto 6 release date has certainly been a long time coming. Early gameplay leaks of GTA 6 surfaced online last year, along with lines of source code and development footage for the open-world game. There's been plenty of rumors and speculation surrounding the release date since then, but we finally have confirmation of the GTA 6 launch window, story, and setting.      Liberty Falls vault code - How to open the Liberty Falls vault in BO6 Zombies

How do you open the BO6 Liberty Falls vault?      AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D overclocked to 6.9GHz already, hits 1,500fps in CS2

It's almost impossible to praise the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D highly enough, with the excellent performance of the company's latest gaming CPU. However, technically it's still a chip that trails the Intel Core i9 14900K when it comes to raw clock speed, at least that was the case until Asus China's general manager, Tony Yu, got his hands on one and achieved an incredible AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D overclock.

With help from liquid nitrogen (LN2), Tony Yu managed to cool the best gaming CPU you can buy down to around -190°C (-321°F), showing gthat the new AMD chip can be overclocked to a massive 6.9GHz and still run Counter-Strike 2 stably. Not that you need to run the chip at these speeds to get amazing performance, as our AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D review shows.

Genshin Impact goes roguelike in Atomic Picnic, a new shooter that's out now

While I've never quite gotten on with Genshin Impact, I love its aesthetic. It's vibrant, colorful, and gorgeously animated, blending traditional Asian visuals with a sprawling open-world that's to die for. It's grindiness and gacha mechanics are largely what's put me off of playing it, and its high fantasy setting is something I very much need to be in the mood for. I love a bit of grit and grime, hence my affinity for Zenless Zone Zero, and new roguelike Atomic Picnic feels like it's got that in droves. Blending HoYoverse-style animation with Hades' traditional roguelike mechanics and fast-paced combat, Mad Mushroom's new shooter just dropped, and I want in.

pokemon go max monday charmander

A Dynamaxed Charmander has appeared at the Osanbashi Pier in Yokohama  as part of a Pokemon Go advertisement for Max Monday. Max Monday will start in Pokemon Go from November 11, 2024.

The Charmander first appeared on November 6, 2024 in Japan, and it will remain there until the 11th. If you go to Osanbashi, you'll be able to participate in the real-life event, #GoToOsanbashi. During this time, you'll be able to use the Osanbashi Power Spot to fight Dynamaxed Pokemon, as well as take a picture with the giant Charmander statue.

The statue doesn't actually look like a Pokemon. Instead, it's a giant cellphone displaying a screen of a Dynamaxed Charmander in Pokemon Go. If you go at night, a giant pillar of light extends from the statue to resemble the lights in Pokemon Sword and Shield, or Go.

Max Monday will be a new weekly event in Pokemon Go. For one hour every evening (6:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time), you'll get the chance to capture a new Dynamax Pokemon. There's even a chance to get a Shiny. You can check out each month's Max Monday Pokemon via the Pokemon Go website. For this month, you'll be able to get:

Review: Virche Evermore -EpiC: Lycoris- Tells More Sad Stories

The original Virche Evermore -Error: Salvation-is one of the saddest and darkest otome games I've ever played. It is a lot. When going into the fandisk Virche Evermore -EpiC: Lycoris-, I hoped there would maybe be some happy endings for Ceres and her love interests after going through so much. For the most part, there's not, and Otomate continues to make the lives of these characters difficult. Which, if you loved the original, might be exactly what you're looking for in this follow-up.

When you first hop into Virche Evermore - EpiC: Lycoris-, four "paths" are open to you. Side Story: Interlude is a selection of short stories that go over things that mostly happened during the original ErroR: Salvation. There are exceptions to this! But they are brief moments between Ceres and other characters. What's handy is the UI for these lets you know who will be involved, if you get to make choices as you play, if you can earn CG images for characters, and whether or not you've read it. It's a handy way to take short breaks between longer offerings here, and I especially liked how I could focus on reading stories involving characters I liked.

The Side End: Encore area in Virche Evermore -EpiC: Lycoris- is basically a prime spot for getting your heart broken again. This is because it consists of alternate endings and options for the main game. Sad ones, too! I went through my favorite character's section here first, and both endings for the Encore left me feeling horrible for Ceres and her love interest. The new scenario fit in well with what I remembered for it, as well as for other bachelors. They're well executed! Just know going in that things could very well get quite dark here.

The Virche de la Coda: Emotion section is where Virche Evermore - EpiC: Lycoris- really gets into what you'd expect from an otome game fandisk, as it builds off of Virche Evermore -ErroR: Salvation- endings. This can prove incredibly satisfying for some characters, especially when Salvation endings are built up upon. (I mean, Despair ones are going to be an even worse time than before sometimes, which is a bit shocking!) The follow-ups are good, and a few of the CGs are really appreciated after everything the characters had been through.

It's with Tradition: Drifter and Virche du Salut: Ankou that Virche Evermore - EpiC: Lycoris- gets really interesting. These two are tied together, as you need to finish the Drifter storyline before you can get into this new storyline for Ankou. The former is honestly fascinating! It helps get more into the island's history, Yves' past, and everything going on. While our time with Tamaki is short, it is fascinating. It also ties in to characters from Virche Evermore -ErroR: Salvation- in ways I didn't expect, which helps the otome game further.

It's the Virche du Salut: Ankou route that made this collection for me. The integration of the original Virche Evermore -ErroR: Salvation- storyline into this new Virche Evermore - EpiC: Lycoris- otome game route is executed so well. I think it felt pretty seamless. I also really loved this character in the first game, so seeing this new story for him and getting this new resolution felt so satisfying. It made everything I went through feel worthwhile. I think it's the real highlight of the fandisk and reason to play it.

So yeah, you probably are still going to experience a lot of heartbreak going through Virche Evermore - EpiC: Lycoris-! Surprise! But I absolutely think it is worth it, especially considering the new Drifter storyline and Ankou route. The execution of the fandisk is also rather interesting, since it really does a solid job of taking us into the past, present, and future, with all of these extra stories and moments with the characters so well organized. That does mean that it is 100% not a standalone experience, but you have to expect that from otome game follow ups and Virche Evermore -ErroR: Salvation- players will enjoy this for what it is.

Virche Evermore -EpiC: Lycoris- is available for the Nintendo Switch

Dress Majima Like Kiryu in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega announced that people can dress Goro Majima like Kazuma Kiryu in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii with free DLC. However, the catch is that someone must subscribe to an email newsletter via an official site to eventually be sent the code for it.

The Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza DLC costume in question is the outfit we see Kiryu wear in Yakuza Kiwami. This means it consists of a grey blazer with matching grey paints worn over a red shirt. The shoes also match the coat and pants. The code will be sent out to all subscribers on February 21, 2025,

Here's how the outfit looks alone:

And here's a trailer showing how Majima looks when wearing the Kiryu DLC outfit in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza.

It isn't uncommon for Sega to distribute free DLC this way. It just happened with Sonic x Shadow Generations. Ahead of its October 2024, people could sign up for a newsletter to get a Sonic Jam Legacy Skin for Sonic.

The new Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii release date is February 21, 2024. It will come out for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam.

7.1 FFXIV Screenshots Show Hildibrand Adventures, Mount, Emote, PvP Gear

Square Enix updated the 7.1 FFXIV official site, and this time the screenshots highlight new things to earn, like a mount, emote, PvP gear, and minion, as well as new sidequests like "Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures" and an Apyaahi Role Quest. While there aren't actual updates on each new element, in many cases we do also get a better idea of when the items will appear.

The latest additions are basically split into things you can experience or things you can earn and then see or use in the world. For example, the quality of life housing changes in FFXIV give you more interior design options when 7.1 arrives. New PvP gear involves oversized pants, a backwards baseball cap, jersey over shirt, and gym shoes. The new FFXIV emote, minion, and mount screenshots also showed up.

Here are how all of those look:

There are also two Doman Mahjong changes in FFXIV. There are videos of both of these 7.1 additions online. Here is an example of the Riichi character voice:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkZDHOeqOEY

And here's the Ron one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uFNjBWVgeE

The other new 7.1 FFXIV screenshots tend to deal with new quests and supplemental content like "Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures." The 7.1 proper ones show with the Pelupelu Society Quests. In 7.15, we get the new Hildibrand quests, Wachumeqimeqi Quests, and Custom Deliveries for the Nitowikwe. Finally in 7.16, the Apyaahi Role Quest will appear.

Here are those screenshots:

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and 7.1 arrives on November 12, 2024.
