Black Myth: Wukong was one of the biggest surprises of last year. A massively popular take on the Chinese classic Journey to the West, Wukong combines the spectacle of a game like Devil May Cry 5 with the more methodical, punishing combat of Elden Ring and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Its sequel, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, was just unveiled through a surprise trailer during Gamescom's Opening Night Live. And it looks to pick up where Wukong left off, while also adding some extra horror to the formula.

It's almost time for another Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 DLC - that's come around fast, eh? It feels like just last week Henry was getting embroiled with a tortured artist, and after all that drama, it might just be time to pursue a new hobby - interior design. Of course, in the new expansion, Legacy of the Forge, there will be a new storyline to play through. It'll see Henry learn about his late father and rebuild his burned down forge. But its big new feature is the ability to customize Henry's new workshop and private living quarters, with over 100 million decorative options. However, just like The Sims, some of the furnishings are going to provide gameplay-altering effects.

There's nothing wrong with combining action and horror design. Some of the best scary games, like Silent Hill 2, Alan Wake 2, and Amnesia: The Bunker, manage to create an eerie atmosphere even while allowing the player to fight back against enemies. Project: Spectrum, a new horror game from Delta Force creator Team Jade that was just announced during Gamescom's Opening Night Live, looks to prove this out. In a big departure from Team Jade's previous work, the project looks to channel the supernatural gunplay of Trepang2 and Fear, as well as the shape shifting exploration of Prototype.

Although the genre has never died off entirely, there's been something of a resurgence of mech games lately. Over recent years, we've seen the launch of everything from Armored Core 6 and Mecha Break to a slew of Front Mission remakes, providing plenty of options for robot brawling aficionados. A bit further back, Marvelous put out Daemon X Machina as well, which garnered an enthusiastic fan base that's been eagerly awaiting news about its sequel, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion. Now, we've not only seen more of the game, but also been given an opportunity to try it out ahead of launch thanks to a new Steam demo.

2018's Moonlighter wasn't a perfect game at launch by any means, but its intelligent blend of dungeon crawler and tycoon sim had real potential. It even garnered a bit of a cult following, the demand for more of capeless crusader Will's day-night duality earning it a DLC, and now a full-fledged sequel. From what I've seen of Moonlighter 2 so far, Digital Sun's putting together something special, and the studio's announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live that it won't be long before we get to try it out for ourselves; Moonlighter 2 is coming to Steam Early Access this October.

I can't lie, I'm more of a ship guy, me. I'd take a Type 45 Destroyer over a Challenger 2 any day. But you know what? I've always had a soft spot for tanks. If there's one thing developer Wargaming can be commended for, my preference for the more nautical side of warfare aside, is that it commits wholly to the fundamental truth that tanks are awesome. Now, we have a date for when the studio's taking its roving death machines and giving them a total overhaul in World of Tanks 2.0. Oh, and Wargaming's also dropping a brand new, free-to-play tactical vehicle shooter, World of Tanks: Heat.

A lone, long-forgotten radio sits in a dusty, rundown room, conspicuous in its modernity. I approach it, curious, pushing the on switch tentatively - this is 2024 Seattle, they didn't have weird, talking machines when I stalked the earth. "Hello Seattle, this is your 2am weather and traffic update," a voice informs me. "We're still under a severe storm warning, and it's cold, cold, cold out there." It takes me a moment to recognize the dulcet tones of Jason Carl, brand manager for the World of Darkness and LA By Night's iconic storyteller. "Now let's make a note of these important reminders, because multiple things are happening at once" - one of Carl's most iconic lines from the aforementioned live play. I feel myself break into a smile, and, honestly, I shed a little tear. I've been waiting for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 for years, and this tiny, easily missed interaction suggested my faith in The Chinese Room hasn't been for nothing, even if sometimes it's felt like I've been clinging to a rose-tinted reverie.

I've been waiting for this day for what feels like forever. Today, at Gamescom Opening Night Light, The Chinese Room has finally solidified the Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 release date. The vampire RPG has been a long-running obsession of mine since its re-reveal last year, haunting the shadows of my mind like a Ventrue on steroids, taunting me like any good Toreador would. And now, it's real, and it's coming pretty soon, with even more clans at launch than was initially expected. But there's bad news with the good: if you want to play as either of the game's new additions, you'll have to splash the cash.

In a twist I didn't see coming, the Europa Universalis 5 launch date has been set, and it's less than three months until one of the crowning grand strategy games enters a new era. We've come a long way in the 25 years since Paradox Interactive's first Europa Universalis, its breakout hit based on Philippe Thibaut's board game of the same name. Lords of the Fallen is one of my favorite comeback stories of recent times. After countless bug fixes, iterative updates, and even complete system overhauls, what started life as a middling souslike grew into something greater, and its exquisite 2.0 update was its crowning achievement. Never count out Call of Duty. In the decade or so that's passed since it was consistently the most popular FPS option in videogames, the series has fallen in and out of favor a number of times. With a new entry every year, though, it's never long before the various studios behind the military shooter hit on a successful tweak to the Call of Duty formula. Last year's Black Ops 6, for example, was well received, whereas 2023's Modern Warfare 3's players were less enthusiastic. Soon enough, we'll have a chance to see if the latest entry to the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, is able to capture the same attention as its predecessor as its launch date was just announced alongside a lengthy new gameplay trailer.

Now we have an answer to one of those questions, as he today announced that he has returned to 2K as the head of the Bioshock franchise. While that may sound like a dream job to many, the series and studio as a whole are in difficult spots at present, meaning that Fergusson has a big job on his hands.

Prepare to return to the hellish world of Raccoon City in Resident Evil 9 with ultra-realistic lighting, as long as you have a really powerful new Nvidia GeForce graphics card. Nvidia has confirmed that the new Resident Evil 9 Requiem will support DLSS 4 and path tracing, an advanced form of ray tracing, when the game launches next year, but you'll probably need a top-spec GPU to make it playable.

Path tracing is a seriously impressive upgrade to regular ray tracing that can make games look ultra-realistic, but it takes a lot of GPU firepower to make it work, with top-spec Nvidia GPUs, such as those in our best graphics card guide, best-suited to the challenge. In our Doom The Dark Ages path tracing testing, for example, only an RTX 5080 or better could play that GPU-intensive game with path tracing at 1080p with decent frame rates, while AMD's latest GPUs really struggle with it, and we're not expecting Resident Evil Requiem to be that different.

There are two ways I work out whether a game is for me or not. First, I check critic reviews, especially from critics I respect and whose tastes align with my own. Then I check the Steam reviews. I tend to filter by players who've put serious hours into whatever game I'm checking out, but the overall consensus helps, too. I'm a little weird in that I like checking out games (and films, and books) with 'mixed' reviews rather than five-star classics, but the consensus helps make the decision all the same. However, Valve is making changes to how user review scores are presented on its storefront, which could change how we see aggregates going forward.

What's on sale in the League of Legends Mythic shop? New skins for LoL are released all the time, with a new event arriving on the Rift every few weeks, but what happens if you missed the boat with that awesome K/DA Evelynn skin, or if you've seen a Hextech skin in a game of Summoner's Rift and want to bag it for yourself?

The Mythic shop is a special storefront in the free PC game that stocks rare skins, wards, chromas, and Nexes finishers. "Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been delayed again, this time until the second half of 2025," Edwin wrote in March this year. Today I write: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been given a full release date at tonight's Gamescom Opening Night Live, along with a fresh trailer.

To this point, the tale of Bloodlines 2 has been one of fan swearing induced by delays that have been a seriously regular occurence. Originally worked on by Hardsuit Labs, the game's current devs The Chinese Room have said they're going for more of a spiritual successor than straight sequel. As of that last delay earlier this year, they were also very keen not to release it in as buggy a form as another Paradox project, Cities: Skylines 2.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 4 has been announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live.

The Orks are crying out, and it's because Dawn of War 4 is set to release at some point in 2026. The Orks are also crying out in a slightly more thoughtful manner, since the game's coming from German studio King Art Games, rather than original developer Relic.

Valor Mortis, a soulslike set during Napoleon's 19th century conquest of Eastern Europe, has been revealed by Ghostrunner devs One More Level during Gamescom Opening Night Live's preshow. It's set for release in 2026.

Yep, if you're a fan of games that drip with Frenchness and also revolve around beating up gaudily-health barred baddies before they do the same to you, this one might have you reaching for your musket and bicorne. That's assuming the setting offers enough of a unique feel that Valor Mortis doesn't resemble being trapped on a Fromsoft-imitation Elba.

8 New Mega Evolved Pokemon Plush Debut

The Pokemon Center announced it is now selling eight new kinds of Mega Evolved Pokemon plush. Each one costs $39.99. All of them are also about a foot tall. We'll see many of these appear in Pokemon Legends: Z-Awhen it debuts in October 2025.

Here's the full list of all the new Mega Evolved Pokemon plush that are available. Each one will qualify for free shipping, due to them being over $20 each. The latest of them is Mega Gardevoir, with it being almost 18 inches due to the size of the "gown." Mega Altaria is the shortest, as it stands at just over nine inches tall. Both Mega Gengar and Mega Mawile look like the are two of the widest due to the creatures' stances.

And you can see the official photos of all eight of the new plush below.

There's no word regarding any Mega Dragonite merchandise yet. It's one of the new Mega Evolutions that will debut in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. We've seen quite a bit of footage of it ahead of the launch of the new game. It even has its own page on the site for it.

The eight new Mega Evolved Pokemon plush are now available at the Pokemon Center in North America. Pokemon Legends Z-A will come to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 16, 2025, and pre-orders are open for it.

Resident Evil Requiem Trailer Focuses on Grace Ashcroft

At gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live, the show closed out with a Resident Evil Requiem trailer that focused on Grace Ashcroft, her secrets, and what the character means to the series. It also reminded people it will appear on February 27, 2026. The showcase also confirmed a playable demo would be at the event for attendees.

The Resident Evil Requiem gamescom 2025 trailer begins with Grace Ashcroft on a bed on her computer while her mom is nearby. As she's looking up things, she gets a call. The person on the other end asks for Ms. Ashcroft. Grace says yes. The caller hangs up. The power goes out. It's then that her mom suggests that some undisclosed people are "here." She insists the two leave.

It's then that we get to see gameplay in between some of the story segments. The two start to leave the building and run into a neighbor in the hall. The person apologizes for it. However, an unknown individual kills him. The pair run away.

Grace's mom refers to her as her "hope." She says to never forget that. Something suddenly happens off-screen.

Here's the full Resident Evil Requiem trailer looking at Grace Ashcroft and her mom trying to escape their home.

Next 2 Luminasta Hatsune Miku Conceptual Figures Appear

Sega announced the next two Luminasta Hatsune Miku Conceptual figures, with volume 2 debuting on August 28, 2025 and volume 3 following on September 19, 2025. The former is designed by mashirok-ta, and Kusakashi designed the latter. Both will be prize figures. This means they'll be found in Japanese arcades. However, we should see them worldwide after, with stores like Crunchyroll and Big Bad Toy Store selling them. The latter already has listings for both for $27.99 each.

Both of the versions of the Vocaloid depicted show her in somewhat casual situations. Volume 2 is a more sporty look. She's wearing a blue outfit, complete with baseball cap, hoodie, and pleated skirt. She also wears matching blue gym shoes. That one will be about eight inches (21cm) tall.

Here's volume 2 in this Luminasta Conceptual series, complete with the mashirok-ta art for reference.

Meanwhile, the volume 3 figure seems to be more of a dressed up look. Hatsune Miku wears a pink dress with darker pink ribbons and white ruffled accents. Her shoes are the same shade as the ribbons and also have a bow on them, and her white socks have the same ruffles at the cuff. The Vocaloid is holding a teddy bear and making it wave to the viewer. She's the smaller of the two at about seven inches (18cm).

And here's volume 3 design with Kusakashi art as a reference.

The first Luminasta Hatsune Miku Conceptual figure debuted in Japan in July 2025, with stores worldwide selling it after. Hisen Kaede art ended up inspiring its design, and it showed the Vocaloid in a swimsuit. Big Bad Toy Store pre-orders for it cost $27.99 too.

Volume 2 in the Luminasta Hatsune Miku Conceptual figure series will appear in Japan on August 28, 2025, with Sega releasing volume 3 in Japanese arcades on September 19, 2025. We will see both sold worldwide after that.

Silent Hill f Hinako Shimizu English Voice Actress Revealed

During the gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live presentation, Konami revealed the Silent Hill f English voice actress for Hinako Shimizu. She's played by Suzie Yeung. As a reminder, she's Konatsu Kato in Japanese. A trailer highlighted the English dub and teased more of the game's story.

The Silent Hill f gamescom 2025 trailer featured a mix of both gameplay and story scenes when showing off Suzie Yeung's performance as the voice actress for Hinako. It begins with a murder scene, with someone radioing in to say they can't find the suspect. We do see numbers of evidence next to things like a steel pipe. It then noted the suspect was "seen fleeing Tsunayoshi Shrine." From there, we hear a man speaking to Hinako. He says, "You saved my life and laid claim to my soul. In turn, I shall save your soul by claiming the life of your old self." She wakes up to see herself in the shrine, guided by someone. It's then that we also see her start to encounter the monstrosities the series is known for.

From there, additional segments seem mysterious. We hear someone say they were looking for someone they found. They say that person they found needs to say their goodbyes, because that person will kill others.

After that, we see Hinako enter a home she refers to as a tainted version of her own. A phone rings. She goes to answer it, but sees someone else in a school uniform is there.

The video then ends with the person who talked to Hinako in the beginning appearing alongside her. The character refers to saying "farewell to childhood friends." This also means we get a clear look at this other masked person for the first time.

Here's the full gamescom 2025 Silent Hill f trailer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNU85BmwvUc

We've heard Suzie Yeung quite often lately, as the voice actress appeared in a number of other games and shows ahead of her role as Hinako Shimizu in Silent Hill f. She's Yuffie Kisaragi in the FFVII Remake trilogy, Amane in Demon Slayer, the Invisible Woman in Marvel Rivals, Piper in Zenless Zone Zero, and Akari Shimizu in Akari, and Fuuka Yamagishi in Persona 3 Reload

Silent Hill f will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the release date is September 25, 2025

See 2 Wuthering Waves Nendoroid Figure Updates

Good Smile Company shared updates on two Wuthering Waves figures on social media, as we knew it had Nendoroid plans for both Changli and Jinhsi. Both entered the unpainted prototype phase. There are also photos for each one suggesting how they'll eventually look.

As is common for these types of Nendoroid prototypes, each Wuthering Waves figure only shows off one pose. In both cases, Good Smile Company didn't showcase any possible accessories for Changli and Jinhsi. However, it does look like Jinhsi's signature sword Ages of Harvest is displayed on her back for this photo. Face plates with smiling, neutral expressions also appeared for each one.

Here's how both of these prototypes look:

Both Changli and Jinhsi have been part of Wuthering Waves for quite some time. Jinhsi ended up being added in 1.1 back in 2024. Likewise, Changli showed up early on, as she debuted in 1.2. In the past, we'd seen other kinds of merchandise based on them, as well as other playable Resonators. These are the initial Nendoroids, however.

There's no release date for either of the two Wuthering Waves figures of Changli and Jinhsi, but each Nendoroid is in the unpainted prototype phase. The game is playable on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices.

Mihono Bourbon Umamusume: Pretty Derby Figure Returns

A figure based on Mihono Bourbon, the Umamusume: Pretty Derby character with cyborg and robotic design elements, will return worldwide. Mihobo Bourbon: the Chestnut Cyborg will be available everywhere in 2026. First, she'll show up the US and Canada for $169.99 in Q1 2026. After that, she'll appear in Japan for ¥26,800 in October 2026. While the original run of it did appear worldwide in 2023, its price went up to over $300 via resellers on sites like Amazon due to being out of print.

This is a 1/7 scale static figure. She will stand at over 10 inches tall (260mm). She's in the same uniform she wears during an actual race. It almost looks like she is performing her victory pose, and it showcases her Gundam sort of motifs.

Here are the photos showing her off:

Mihono Bourbon is one of the first characters to be added to Umamusume: Pretty Derby after launch both in the Japanese, then global, versions. She's a character who is best at Medium Turf faces and running with the Front Runner strategy, though she can rather easily become a Mile or Long racer through inheritances. Following her debut banner, she joined the general pool of characters in each version.

The Umamusume: Pretty Derby Mihono Bourbon: The Chestnut Cyborg figure will return in Q1 2026 in the US and October 2026 in Japan. The game is available worldwide.

Nobuo Uematsu beer

Nobuo Uematsu, a former Square Enix composer who scored major games like Final Fantasy VII, collaborated with two different Iwate Prefecture breweries to release two new craft beers. Advance sales of the beers will be available during the Ichinoseki's beer festival, which will run from August 22 to 24, 2025. [Thanks, PR Times, Best Calendar!]

As a note, these beers are not the kind that "listened" to Uematsu's music during the brewing process. They're normal beers that Uematsu helped develop. With Seki no Ichi Brewery, he came up with "Uematsu Nobuo presents Ore no Beer Symphony." According to a representative from Seki no Ichi, Uematsu drew inspiration from Belgian beers for this one. It's got a deep flavor and higher alcohol content, and it's meant to be slowly enjoyed on your own. It symbolizes the multiple layers in Uematsu's music.

Meanwhile, Uematsu's collaboration with Noymond Brewery resulted in "Uematsu Nobuo presents Ore no Beer Pop." Unlike the usual Ore no Beer, this one is meant to be enjoyed in a more lively and social setting. A Noymond Brewery representative describes it as a pale ale with a refreshing citrus aroma. It doesn't have a lot of bitterness, and it makes you want to keep coming back for more. It symbolizes the brighter earworm types of music that Uematsu composes.

The beers that Nobuo Uematsu helped develop will be available for advance sales at the Ichinoseki beer festival in Iwate, and you'll be able to attend it from August 22 to 24, 2025.

Anby Demara is the first character created in Zenless Zone Zero as a sword blade user

Anby Demara was the first character created during the development of Zenless Zone Zero. The game's producer, Zhenyu Li, revealed this tidbit at the beginning of a new interview in Japanese with DenFamiNico Gamer.

Producer Li noted that Anby uses a blade or sword as her weapon of choice. The Sword has been widely regarded as a staple weapon used in action games, and Li thought that having a character wielding such a weapon featured in the game's presentation should convey the image more easily.

The interview also covered how the playable characters in NieR: Automata and Metal Gear Rising primarily use swords. Even other games like Bayonetta and God of War, which do not feature a sword at the beginning, also have it available as a usable weapon later on.

During the first development phase of Zenless Zone Zero, Li put an emphasis on creating "an action game character easily imagined by everyone" over "a character with a brand-new, unique setting." As the development team contemplated how to finish working on such an "action game character" with a high degree of perfection, it eventually came up with Anby Demara as the first character created for Zenless Zone Zero. The team would later release an S-rank version of Anby via the version 1.6 update in March 2025.

Anby is a character who is always available. You get the first one of her for free when you start playing. As an A-rank Agent, she's also available on every banner.

Zenless Zone Zero is available worldwide for Windows PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Here's the teaser placeholder for the Hollow Knight: Silksong "Special Announcement" YouTube reveal. As of time of writing, already over 6,600 people were waiting for it. The teaser blurb on the page didn't hint at any of the content that will be in it or mention a length for the video.

This is one of the few times Team Cherry broke its silence, in a way, about Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2025. tales of xillia remastered remaster

Bandai Namco promised it would reveal the new Tales of series remaster in Summer 2025, and the company unveiled Tales of Xillia Remastered on YouTube as gamescom 2025 was about to begin. It will come to the Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on October 30, 2025.

Tales of Xillia is one of the more recent entries in the series, and it appeared on the PS3. It starred dual protagonists Jude Mathis and Millia Maxwell, with the former being a student who watches the terrifying power of a miltiary weapon and takes action and the latter being the latest incarnation of the Spirit called Maxwell. Both recognizing the terrifying consequences that could come from using Lance of Kresnik, they journey with a team to meet with the king and save the world. It was eventually followed by a sequel called Tales of Xillia 2

This new entry will be the second Tales of remaster in 2025. The first was Tales of Graces f Remastered. That debuted back in January 2025 on basically all modern platforms. It's also part of a continuing endeavor to bring entries in the series to current platforms. However, these two are the first to "officially" be in this project, as the Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Vesperia returns happened in 2014 and 2019, respectively.

Pokémon battling in Pokémon Legends: Z-A's battle royale mode.

Upcoming title Pokémon Champions is still far away from its release, but we already know that the Omni Ring will be present.

The item is already on the game's official website, and it made the news during the 2025 World Championships final. It has already been confirmed that Pokémon Champions will be the official VGC software in Worlds 2026, and the Omni Ring will play an important role in the game.

How will the Omni Ring work in Pokémon Champions?

It's important to note that the Omni Ring's functions will only be clear once Pokémon Champions releases in 2026 (an exact release date remains unknown as of writing). However, we have official confirmation of its primary purpose: triggering mega evolutions during battles.

The item will be worn by trainers, enabling them to mega-evolve their Pokémon. In many ways, the Omni Ring is expected to work similarly to how the Mega Ring works in the mainline series.

https://twitter.com/pokemon/status/1957278714754212124?s=46&t=eJmY99xyXgy2CJNq1541kA

Based on the current artwork of the ring, I expect the Omni Ring to have more functions. This will largely depend on the evolution features of the game. The Omni Ring may be used to enable features like Dynamax and perform Z-moves. Everything ultimately depends on the type of Pokémon we will get at launch, as not every creature can grow in battle with the help of the Dynamax ability.

Interestingly, the concept of mega evolutions has been making news a lot lately since the 2025 World Championships ended. While Pokémon Champions isn't coming out soon, Pokémon TCG Pocket is getting Mega Evolutions for the first time. The Company has confirmed that Mega Evolutions will be available in TCG Pocket during the Fall. How we will be able to mega evolve our Pokémon remains anyone's guess at this point.

One this is for sure that the Mega Evolutions will completely change the meta, but the extent is to be seen.

BO7 guns operators

Get ready to grind, Call of Duty gamers. Black Ops 7 is introducing a whole new type of weapon camo, and you can grab some friends to help get them all.

For the first time ever, BO7 will have unlockable camos that can be found in the game's campaign, which is playable in co-op for up to four players. Along with the game's 11 missions, these camos can also be grinded for in the 12th "Endgame" mission, which is totally new, too.

Image via Activision

BO7's campaign will be the fourth mode to offer its own unique camos, on top of multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, meaning that there will be 16 total Mastery camos to unlock, on top of presumably dozens more to be secured before that.

The only new camo Treyarch showed for now was multiplayer's gold camo, called Shattered Gold. The camo is shiny and golden, featuring cracked and fragmented sections throughout its coverage of the weapons.

Treyarch described Endgame as "endless sessions" for up to 32 players who will fly into the massive Avalon map with wingsuits and level up their Combat Rating to gain XP and new abilities. Ranking all the way up to Combat Rating 60 will give players access to higher-tier difficulty areas of the map.

The specifics on how camo unlocks will work in BO7 were not given, and since this is the first time they're available to grind for in the campaign, it's completely unknown how to get them. But a safe bet would include challenges like killing enemies, getting headshots, and killing enemies in specific ways, similar to how the other modes' camo unlocks work.

BO7's campaign is trippy, featuring hallucinations brought on by some sort of weaponized gas, offering wildly unique situations and environments for the players to explore in a departure from standard infantry gameplay.

Along with unique abilities like a Mega Jump, grapple hook, and many more, these campaign camos may end up being quite the fun challenge to procure. We'll know more when BO7 launches this fall.

BO7 multiplayer DAWG scorestreak

A multiplayer shooter game is only as good as the maps you play them on and the weapons you fight with, and that's what separates the best Call of Duty titles from the forgettable ones.

During a press briefing last week, Treyarch and Activision unveiled a bunch of new information about 2025's new game Black Ops 7, including the full list of launch maps for multiplayer that will be available on day one when the game releases later this year.

BO7 multiplayer operator
Image via Activision

There will be 16 total six-vs-six maps and two maps for the new 20-vs-2 Skirmish mode, including three Black Ops 2 classics in Raid, Hijacked, and Express. All three remakes are now based in Japan and have a gorgeous, futuristic aesthetic to match.

Since BO7 is a sequel to BO2, taking place 10 years later in the timeline, there are also several returning weapons of the 30 total in-game at launch, including fan-favorites like the M8A1 burst assault rifle (now a marksman rifle) and the Peacekeeper AR/SMG hybrid. There's also some new weapons that are inspired by classics like the VS Recon (inspired by the DSR 50) and Puma SMG (inspired by the PDW 57).

Weapon Prestige leveling is back for each weapon, too. Each weapon can Prestige twice before hitting 250 levels of Master Prestige, unlocking exclusive camos and an exclusive "meta-shifting" attachment for each gun.

More maps and weapons will be added with each seasonal content drop, which has been the case for CoD over the past several games. It's expected that more BO2 remakes and more original maps will be coming to the game over time.

All Black Ops 7 launch maps for multiplayer

Here's the list of every map coming to BO7 at launch, as revealed to us by Treyarch:

  • Blackheart
  • Colossus
  • Cortex
  • Den
  • Drydock
  • Exposure
  • Express (BO2 Remake)
  • Hijacked (BO2 Remake)
  • Homestead
  • Imprint
  • Paranoia
  • Raid (BO2 Remake)
  • Retrieval
  • Scar
  • The Forge
  • Toshin
  • Mission: Edge (Skirmish mode)
  • Mission: Tide (Skirmish mode)

Black Ops 7 is launching later this year for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

BO7 Endgame wingsuits flying into Avalon

Call of Duty is aiming for its next campaign to be a part of the "connected" experience of the overall live-service game, starting with Black Ops 7.

During a media briefing event last week, Treyarch revealed that the BO7 campaign is playable for up to four players in co-op, played over 11 standard, explosive set-piece missions. Not only that, but you will be able to unlock campaign-specific weapon camos (including four Mastery camos), reticles, player cards, and other cosmetics, all while earning XP to progress your overall level and even individual battle passes. There will even be daily and weekly challenges to complete.

BO7 campaign squad
Image via Activision

The campaign stars David Mason and his Spectre One team, including Mike Harper, Eric Samuels, and newcomer Leilani Tupuola, with support from BO6 character Troy Marshall who is now several decades older in this story. Some sort of red, hallucinogenic gas seems to be the main catalyst for weird visions and trippy missions, given what little gameplay I was shown.

Once that story's 11 standard missions are completed, however, a new "Endgame" experience will unlock, featuring an open-world Avalon map for up to 32 players to explore and fight enemies in. Gamers will be able to fly into the battle royale map-like zone to fight AI soldiers and robots, complete missions, and rank up their operators with new abilities and a level-up system called Combat Rating.

Increasing your Combat Rating (max level 60) will give players access to higher-tier areas of the map, but here's the catch: if you die, you wipe and have to start all over again, similar to games like Modern Warfare II's DMZ mode or Escape From Tarkov. That's right, wiping as a squad will reset your progress for that operator.

Each individual, playable operator also has their own abilities and skill specializations that can be unlocked and leveled up, such as a Grapple Hook, Mega Jump, or Drone Charmer that spawns quad-rotor drones to take down enemies.

Treyarch says that Endgame will be the "final proving ground where all of your campaign progress is tested in a new environment." Progress is tied to "shutting down Guild activities" as you "move into the hardest regions."

A lot about Endgame is still being kept secret for now, but players looking to expand their BO7 experience and unlock everything it has to offer may find some real fun in this new co-op experience to play alongside multiplayer and Zombies modes.

BO7 launches for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC later this year.

The controversial omnimovement system from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is confirmed to return in Black Ops 7 later this year, but with some minor, interesting changes.

In a press briefing last week, Treyarch and Activision revealed to us that omnimovement in BO7 will add a Wall Jump ability, which is similar but different from wall-running, allowing players to kick off a wall while running for some advanced movement tech. So, it's not quite a return to the movement mechanics in games like Black Ops 4 or Black Ops 3, and there's no jetpacks, either.

BO7 multiplayer DAWG Scorestreak in action
Image via Activision

The oft-maligned Tactical Sprint mechanic, which for years has allowed players to sprint quickly with their guns raised up with a double-click of the sprint button, is now being removed from base movement speed, too.

With the new omnimovement, players will also be able to move while mounted on cover, and "Combat Roll" to avoid big fall damage when dropping from heights in modes outside of core six-vs-six, like the new 20-vs-20 Skirmish mode and presumably Warzone.

Some nerfs to base omnimovement also include the removal of the ability to aim down sight while sliding, diving, or wall jumping. These techniques will instead be made equippable via Perks. Several Perks will now focus on movement, like one that re-enables Tactical Sprint, Agility (increased movement speed and recovery time) and Gung Ho (fire while sprinting). Two other Perks shown were Networked (share buffs with teammates) and Looper (loop your Scorestreaks).

Omnimovement can also potentially be improved via a new loadout addition called Overclocks, which are similar to Pro Perks from older CoD games, except they work for all sorts of equipment. Every lethal, tactical, Field Upgrade, and Scorestreak can be leveled up and Overclocked to equip a buff that enhances it.

A beta test for BO7 is coming later this year, so players can test out these new techniques along with a slice of the game's 30 new weapons and 18 maps that will be available at launch.

BO7 Guild robots

Call of Duty is back with Black Ops 7, but its new time period and setting of 2035 opens the door for some fun technology.

BO7 takes place between Black Ops II and Black Ops 4, so there are some different kinds of opportunities for fun in the game that the series may not have had before. This is true for weapons, equipment, Field Upgrades, and everyone's favorite CoD staple, Scorestreaks.

I got a sneak peek at the Scorestreaks currently in BO7 at a special press event in August, and can confirm that there are some returning classics, along with some fun spins on fan-favorite archetypes from the past.

Here's everything we know about the Scorestreaks in BO7 so far.

All Scorestreaks in Black Ops 7

Here's everything we've learned so far about the Scorestreaks in BO7. This list is incomplete, and the score or kills required to unlock them is currently unknown.

UAV

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle that shows enemies on the minimap.

Counter UAV

Obscures the enemy team's minimap.

Hellstorm Drone

Deploys a missile that can

RC-XD

The classic Black Ops remote control car is back, this time with advanced tech, not like the makeshift one cobbled together by the squad in Black Ops 6.

Interceptors

Calling this streak in will destroy all enemy air support in the area.

VTOL Warship

A controllable gunship.

H.K.D.

Hunter Killer Drones. These wheeled drones drop from the sky and then patrol the area, hunting down enemies. Treyarch said this is similar to the Attack Dogs streak from past games.

Skewer

A "highly precise" missile that has very little collateral damage.

Gravemaker

A sniper rifle that the player must assemble. A charged-up shot that can shoot enemies through walls. The scope allows you to see players through walls.

D.A.W.G.

Stands for Deployable Autonomous Weaponized Groundcraft. This is a four-legged robot that gets called in and will patrol the area, gunning down foes. It can also be placed into a sentry mode with a trophy system and usable turret, via an Overclock.

Rhino

The Rhino is a deployable, remote robot mech with a massive minigun. Treyarch said this streak is what they imagined when asking what a Juggernaut suit would be like in the futuristic Black Ops universe. Treyarch described it as "the highest Scorestreak right now."

This article will be updated with new information whenever it becomes available.

BO7 multiplayer operator

A Call of Duty game is only as good and memorable as its weapons that you use to pub-stomp noobs with.

Black Ops 7, launching in 2025, is a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, which has some of the most memorable guns in the series. Some of those guns are coming back for BO7, but there's also a whole bunch of new tools of destruction to use, too.

During a special press briefing in August, Treyarch revealed that there will be 30 weapons in BO7 at launch, including 16 weapons that have never been in a CoD game before and 14 that are returning or inspired by previous guns.

Here's everything we know so far about the 30 launch weapons coming to BO7.

BO7 Zombies crew

Call of Duty's Zombies mode returns once again later this year in Black Ops 7, and it's inspired by a very specific map from the franchise.

During a special media presentation last week, I saw a bit of the new map in action ahead of its full reveal, and it's huge. Treyarch calls it the "biggest round-based map" ever, and it's one that's directly inspired by Black Ops 2's TranZit.

Black Ops 7 BO7 logo
Image via Activision

The new map and its story pick up directly after the events of Black Ops 6's Reckoning map's quest, released earlier this month, bringing together the BO6 zombies crew with a "new iteration" of the OG squad that kicked things off so many years ago.

Like TranZit, the new map takes place over six large playable areas, with some traversal regions in between that require a vehicle. But instead of a bus, this map has a Wonder Vehicle (like a Wonder Weapon) that players must craft and then drive themselves in between areas.

The Wonder Vehicle looks like a pick-up truck that includes some sort of mounted, electric cannon on its roof, zombie monster heads on its hood, and spiked bumpers to help mow down the undead as you drive between these regions via several "super deadly" roads.

Treyarch described the map itself as a "Bermuda Triangle" of locations, with each region being its own set location from a different time period with its own unique backstory. The only one revealed thus far is called Farm.

Each individual location on the map will become its own Survival map in BO7 over time, with Farm starting things off. These maps are smaller, self-contained slices of the bigger map, and have everything you may need within them (perks, Pack-a-Punch, etc.), but offer a Liberty Falls-like experience within. This will eventually allow players to play within each region of the overall map without having to progress the main quest to get there.

BO7 Zombies will also include the return of the twin-stick shooter arcade mode Dead Ops Arcade, and more maps and experiences are expected to come throughout the year as seasonal content. More info about Zombies mode will be revealed leading up to the game's release this fall.

A screenshot of Hollow Knight: Silksong featuring a boss fight

Though Gamescom 2025 didn't give us a lot of information regarding Silksong during the Opening Night (so far), we got this big piece of information: Silksong is coming out this year, with exact dates still TBA.

During Gamescom 2025's Opening Night Live, the event's host, Geoff Keighley, shared new information regarding the incredibly highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. The game, which many thought was a myth for a very long time, finally has a launch window: sometime this year.

Additional information is to be revealed in the coming days, specifically on Thursday, while Keighley did give us a little sneak peek at Silksong's gameplay.

A screenshot of Hollow Knight: Silksong in the green/lush biome.
Silksong has been in development for six years. Image via Team Cherry

The gameplay showcased was very reminiscent of the first game, with elevated combat and action, flashier and more awesome fights, and recognizable fast-paced platforming we've all come to know and expect from Hollow Knight.

As stated, Silksong is real and coming in 2025, with the exact details to be confirmed at a later date.

This is a developing story covering a live event and will be updated with additional information as it becomes available.

A fog-shrouded tree with a hanged person in Valor Mortis

Ghostrunner devs have just announced their new game, Valor Mortis, set in Napoleonic France and featuring a lot of Prototype- and Resident Evil-inspired madness. Information is still scarce, but the reveal trailer certainly had a lot to say.

During the gamescom 2025 pre-show event, we got to see a ton of new games, primarily from smaller studios and indie developers. One of them particularly caught my eye, though—Valor Mortis, a title developed by the same team behind the stellar first-person action series Ghostrunner.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GehSUVmdmUc

It is set during Napoleonic times, line warfare, winter, and all, but features a monstrous twist straight out of Prototype. The characters turn into grotesque creatures and gain insidious powers after consuming a strange fluid, much like infestation and viruses provide powers in Prototype and Resident Evil. The player, too, makes use of these powers as well, so it's not something limited to NPCs.

It's a first-person title with what appears to be grounded, meaty combat, alongside stomach-churning fun.

It's also coming in 2026 to Xbox Series X and S, and hopefully other platforms down the line.

This is a developing story, with more to come as information becomes available.

Promo image for Black Ops 7

A surprising source has confirmed the official timeline for Call of Duty Black Ops 7 beta, and it's going to set the Fall season on fire.

The confirmation hasn't arrived from Activision. Instead, it has been confirmed by the game's Xbox store page, which has explicitly discussed details about the upcoming beta, which offers early access for players who want to jump in early.

Let's look at all the essential details from the Xbox store listing.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 beta release date and time

The Call of Duty Black Ops 7 beta has two important dates to remember. The open beta kicks off officially on Oct. 5 on all available platforms. However, an early access period begins on Oct. 2. In short, those with early access will be able to hop in 72 hours early.

The date has been confirmed by the Cross-Gen bundle, allowing you to enjoy two different game versions. If you decide to pre-order any of the available bundles of Black Ops 7, you're guaranteed early access to the open beta. Additionally, you'll also be entitled to the following benefits:

  • Reznov Challenge Pack - Immediately unlock the SOG Reznov Operator Skin in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty Warzone. Plus, get access to unlock the Stalingrad Reznov and Memory Reznov Operator Skins.

Xbox store description of Black Ops 7 Cross-Gen Bundle
Image via Microsoft

We will have to wait for Activision and their plans regarding the starting times. The following countdown is based on when new seasons typically begin in Call of Duty titles, which will help you get a fair idea about when the open beta for Black Ops 7 could begin.

[hurrytimer id="1106136"]

  • 10am PT
  • 12pm CT
  • 1pm ET

Once again, the timings aren't from an official source and are just my speculation. Once we get confirmation about the exact launch timings, we will update them on our countdown to help you stay on track.

As of writing, you can't pre-order the Cross-Gen bundle from the Xbox Store; only the page has been updated with the new information.

Holding a candelabra and looking out a hole in grafton farmhouse at a red sky and moon in phasmophobia

Phasmophobia's Grafton Farmhouse map underwent a rework and officially launched with an entirely new design on Aug. 12, 2025. Although the basic bones of the previous structure remain, everything else about it feels entirely new, so you may need some help navigating through it.

Jumping into exploring a fresh location without knowing what you're in for can be tough, so it's best to prepare before you go in to avoid getting caught in dangerous situations. To ensure you're ready for whatever the ghost throws your way, here's a guide to everything you need to know about the reworked Grafton Farmhouse map in Phasmophobia.

Grafton Farmhouse guide in Phasmophobia

The Grafton Farmhouse rework modified the original structure to change it from a simple, rustic home to an eerie, dilapidated mess. Walls are falling in, furniture is broken, many items are covered with creepy sheets, and the entire place is a whole lot spookier.

The basic shell of the original map remains, but it feels brand new. There's a lot to learn about this location, so here's a full breakdown of everything you need to know about the new and improved Grafton Farmhouse.

Grafton Farmhouse map in Phasmophobia

The reworked Grafton Farmhouse map has 14 rooms and three floors, but it feels a lot larger than it sounds when you're investigating it. Many of the rooms around this house were previously multiple distinct spaces that have now become one, as the house has fallen apart.

  • On the first floor, you'll find an entryway, dining room, library, bathroom, workshop, kitchen, living room, and storage room.
  • Around the second floor, you can explore a master bedroom, a landing, a bathroom, a doll room, a hallway, and a small bedroom.
  • The third floor is one giant room, which is the attic. It's quite large, but only officially labeled as one massive room.

Grafton Farmhouse Cursed Possession locations in Phasmophobia

There are seven spawn locations you can check to find a Cursed Possession around Grafton Farmhouse. Depending on the specific trial or difficulty level you're playing, the amount of Cursed Items present varies. Generally, though, only one of the seven is present.

  • The Monkey Paw, Voodoo Doll, and Tarot Cards can be found on the first floor.
  • The Summoning Circle, Music Box, and Haunted Mirror are on the second floor.
  • The Ouija Board is on the third floor, which is the attic.

Grafton Farmhouse fuse box location in Phasmophobia

There are two possible fuse box spawn locations, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. The spots you can check for this box around Grafton Farmhouse are:

  • In the utility room near the back left corner of the house on the first floor.
  • In the small hallway leading from the landing to the attic on the second floor.

To determine where the fuse box is in your active trial, you can check for the green icon with a small lightning bolt on the map in the truck to see where it is. Some contracts, like weekly challenges or custom matches, hide this marker, though, so you might just have to venture to both possible spots instead.

Grafton Farmhouse hiding spots in Phasmophobia

There are plenty of great places to hide around the reworked Grafton Farmhouse map. Different difficulty levels and weekly challenge modes will alter how many of them are available to you, but overall, here are some of the best spots you can hide around this location.

  • Behind the cabinet in the dining room on the first floor.
  • Behind the furniture covered by sheets in the corner of the workshop on the first floor.
  • Behind the mattresses in the storage room on the first floor.
  • Inside the wardrobe behind the mattress in the doll room on the second floor.
  • Behind the divider in the master bedroom on the second floor.
  • In the wardrobe behind the bed in the small bedroom on the second floor.
  • Inside the wardrobe at the back of the attic area on the third floor.

The attic is also a great spot to loop around during a hunt, especially if you're trying to watch the ghost's unique behaviors and patterns. This area is a circle with a wardrobe near the back, so it's the perfect spot to run to in a hunt since it gives you great support for both running and hiding.

Grafton Farmhouse Easter eggs and secrets in Phasmophobia

I've explored Grafton Farmhouse pretty thoroughly and come across a few small secrets scattered throughout. The first one is that the dolls around the doll room on the second floor have special voice lines. You might sometimes just hear them menacingly giggle, while other times they might give you a full line of dialogue like "Take me with you." These dolls also sometimes change position or move around the map.

Inside the workshop, the mannequins situated around the area sometimes move. They can change positions a lot if the ghost decides to interact with them, and there's always a wooden sound that plays to let you know this has happened.

Outside, close to the truck, you can find a small chicken coop. While you can't actually venture inside to see any live chickens, you might hear some chicken noises if you hang around close to this location for a bit.

Another Easter egg that may also just be a coincidence is the single tree you can spot from just about anywhere you're exploring around Grafton Farmhouse. This tree really reminded me of the one featured in The Conjuring, as it's a singular, large, twisted tree close to a farmhouse in an otherwise fairly barren area. I'm not sure if it's an intentional Easter egg or just a happy accident, but considering other maps have other direct references to horror icons like Slenderman, Friday the 13th, and The Blair Witch Project, I think it's a real possibility.

Hailey in The First Descendant

The First Descendant devs admitted issues in their advertising strategy on TikTok after community backlash over AI-generated videos flooding the platform last week. The issue went to the extreme of a content creator being impersonated without his permission, as if he were endorsing the game.

Developer Nexon explained it didn't create any of the videos shown in the reported TikTok ads. They used TikTok's Creative Challenge system to allow other creators to make videos "voluntarily" for The First Descendant, which were automatically used as ads for the game on the platform. Nexon apologized and wrote:

"After confirming with TikTok, we learned that no system currently exists to verify potential copyright infringement, and TikTok is now conducting further investigations to identify any additional cases. One confirmed case involved unauthorized use of DanieltheDemon's content by another creator. TikTok identified this as a violation of its guidelines and has already blocked the creator's account."

The company added that "We are taking the TikTok advertisement issue very seriously, recognizing that we failed to uphold the authenticity of our marketing content and to respect the efforts of our creators and community." It promised "additional review steps" when publishing promotional material online for The First Descendant

DanieltheDemon's case was the most problematic one. Players spotted what seemed to be him robotically talking over The First Descendant gameplay in an ad on TikTok, but the creator later said it was not him in the video, and he didn't authorize the use of his likeness in any of the published content. While Nexon didn't make the video, the company still benefited temporarily from it with the TikTok ad.

https://www.tiktok.com/@game.central/video/7539498130065214742

The First Descendant community was unmoved by Nexon's apology. On Steam, most players asked the developer to stop focusing on ads and fix game issues instead.

"Stop with the advertising c***, and make a FUN GAME. Fix the crap you broke, and make it more player-friendly," an angry player wrote. "The best ads for a game are the people who play it," a second one added.

Nexon's reply has yet to make the game's Reddit community care, but one player, while recognizing the company's effort, echoed the sentiment that The First Descendant needs improvements first. "Their priorities are off at times, and the game's balance is a f****** joke to the point where I don't even play anymore [...] but that doesn't mean I don't see the effort and care put into the game."

The First Descendant has a new patch scheduled to release on Aug. 21, with content still to be confirmed. If players are to be heard, the game update will have balance changes and bug fixes that will make them want to advertise The First Descendant to their friends.

  • A-9 Helljumper – Debuted during the New Mombasa Armor Show, this complete set makes its way over to Helldivers 2.
  • A-35 Recon – A sleeker, stealthier set than the A-9, said to be modeled after a certain intelligence officer's headgear.

Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST Capes and More

  • Eye of the Clandestine Cape

Incineroar tackling and grinning

An Incineroar with yellow fingers in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet looked funny to the Pokémon subreddit. It quickly became bad news for the original poster after another player shared that something similar happened to them, and it cost them their Nintendo Switch fans.

It became a warning for all players. User Active-Target-5210 shared a screenshot where the three middle fingers on their Incineroar's left hand were colored yellow. Since we're talking about Reddit, other users made jokes about how Incineroar had been eating Cheetos, had Raynaud's fingers, but really, it just seemed like a minor visual bug.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/1mttban/whys_my_incineroars_fingers_yellow/

But player Reallylazyname—yeah, that's a really lazy name—revealed that three years ago, his Luxray had the same issue. A red stain showed up in its front right leg, instead of the usual dark blue. They ended up learning that their Nintendo Switch fans were not working, and that's what caused the visual glitch.

Essentially, it's not a glitch in the software or the game itself, so it doesn't mean that the game is buggy or that Nintendo can fix it with a game update. If you have this, it may be a sign that some part of your Switch's hardware is faulty, which is why the color is slightly distorted when rendering the Pokémon model.

A Switch can overheat for several reasons, assuming this is really what's happening to this unlucky Pokémon player. Usually, it means an issue with the airflow inside the console or that its thermal paste is too old, causing the Switch to become hotter than usual and potentially damaging parts of the console. This damage can be temporary or permanent, depending on the extent of the overheating.

It's recommended to turn off your Switch completely, and not just leave it in sleep mode. Leave it off for a few hours to let it cool down completely, then restart it and check if the visual glitch is gone. If it persists, it could be a sign that some part of your Switch is permanently damaged, that your Switch fans are not working properly, or that the air flow entrances at the top and on the back of your Nintendo Switch are too dirty and need cleaning to let the air flow properly to cool all parts down.

However, keep in mind that these occurrences happened three years apart, and it's really only an unverified claim. There are no references to this odd bug on Nintendo's official support page. So take it with a grain of salt, but we'd rather be safe than sorry in this instance.

When a Switch severely overheats to the point of damaging components, a kill switch forces the console into sleep mode whether you want it or not, as shown in the video below.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xWjoJH02hcY

This Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Incineroar glitch could mean it's time to change your thermal paste, clean your airflow entrances, or replace your fans before you get that terrible overheating error.

Sadly, this weird-looking Incineroar isn't a special shiny variant.
