Metal Gear Solid meets LA Noire in stunning new detective RPG

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: LA Noire is the best game ever made.      How to play Minecraft snapshots – snapshot 24w10a

How do you install and play a Minecraft snapshot? These snapshots are the very first iteration of Minecraft updates, and are a way for Mojang to test out bug fixes, technical changes, and new mechanics before officially rolling them out. Anyone with the Java edition of the creative game can try these features without any risk to your current world, so let's find out how to be the first to try the next big Minecraft update.

During Minecraft Live each year, the next big Minecraft update is revealed to the community. In past years, we've had the likes of the Caves and Cliffs update, The Wild Update, and the Trails and Tales update - each of them overhauling the base game with new Minecraft biomes, blocks, and mobs. Since these updates come with so much new content, they need to be tested out first, and that's where Minecraft snapshots come in. Use them to test out new experimental features before anyone else, and feedback to Mojang if you have any issues. It's a win-win situation.

Looking for a Genshin Impact tier list? There are currently 81 Genshin Impact characters available, providing you with a wide variety of candidates to construct your dream team. But with so many weapons, elementals, talents, ascension bonuses, and constellation upgrades, finding your favorites can be challenging.

Don't let the placement of the characters on our Genshin Impact tier list deter you from pulling on the next character banner. While base stats and elemental abilities are important, the value of a character also depends on personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. It doesn't matter if your favorite Genshin Impact character is on one of the lower tiers; you can still make it work with our recommended Genshin Impact builds. Being on a lower tier in the free PC game means that there are better alternatives, or the character needs a very specific build or team to shine. Evangelion merchandise

Re-Ment revealed a new set of Evangelion merchandise featuring five characters from the main cast catching some well deserved rest. The items are available to order in packs of 5 blind boxes from AmiAmi with shipping expected in late June 2024.

Available in packs of five, each box contains one figure of Shinji, Kaworu, Asuka, Rei or Mari sealed within an egg-like pot. Each egg is also designed to look like the character's plugsuit. For example, Asuka's is red and orange, while Mari's is pink and blue. Each five pack will cost ¥6,325 normally, but they are currently reduced to ¥4,490 (roughly $30) at AmiAmi, with a limit of 12 sets per shipping address.

You can get a look at the figures of Evangelion characters below:

Back in February, 2024, a PLAMAX model kit of the AAA Wunder battleship appeared at Good Smile Company's WonHobby 38 event. Meanwhile, Tower of Fantasy is also set to have an Evangelion crossover update starting on March 12, 2024.

The Evangelion Dreaming Pot 5pack merchandise box is available to pre-order from AmiAmi with shipping expected in late June, 2024. The Evangelion anime is available to watch on Netflix while the Rebuild movies are available via Amazon.

Review Balatro Will Improve (or Ruin) Your Life 1

I slept on Balatro. I had an awareness of the game ahead of launch, but was too preoccupied with some of the heavy hitters debuting around the same time. I have to say, I'm glad I did. Why? Because Balatro is my new obsession and is both giving me a new reason to live (while tanking my productivity).

The concept behind Balatro is relatively simple. You start with a standard deck of 52 playing cards. Playing different Poker hands gets you chips. You have a goal of what your "score" must be to pass each round. You can only play so many hands and discard groups of cards from your hands so many times, depending on the deck color selected. As the number needed to keep playing constantly goes up, you eventually need an edge to keep meeting those scores.

That edge comes in the form of Jokers, Planet cards, Spectral cards, Tarot cards, Vouchers, and card packs. Jokers apply certain conditions and multipliers for your scores. Planet cards level up different Poker hands, ensuring you'll earn more points if you manage to play them. Spectral and Tarot cards allow you to customize cards by adding special states to them or choosing if their nature changes. Vouchers can add new conditions to the game to give you an edge. Card packs can let you add more standard playing cards to your deck or get a chance at additional planet and tarot cards.

If it's difficult to visualize that, don't worry. I didn't really grasp the beauty of it until I went through the tutorial and played my first hand. Here, the launch trailer helps a bit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n9pkiuSZLU&ab_channel=Playstack

Basically, the magic of Balatro is that it is taking something you are likely quite familiar with and adds all these new conditions that make it so satisfying to gain more points and tackle boss blinds. Since you can discard, it's fairly easy to get higher value hands like a flush, straight, or full house. Getting certain Jokers and teaming them up can mean more points or special combos. Like pairing the Pareidolia that makes all cards face cards and a Business Card that means you have a 50% chance of getting $2 when a face card scores can be an income generator! While a hand like two pair may be lower value, if you build your deck around capitalizing on it, it can help carry you through.

There's also needing to balance if you take on a small or big blind when it comes up, or skip it for a Tag that could help you out. You could get free card packs, guaranteed Joker type or state appearances, or other bonuses that could help you out in exchange for not playing. But then, you also have to wonder if you will have the money or means of properly taking advantage of that effect.

Of course, what also makes Balatro wonderful is how the game will absolutely screw up any plans you start to prepare. This is because the third boss blind will eventually get you. The Hook is one I honestly appreciate, because I'm typically fine with two random cards I didn't play being discarded. The Manacle isn't too bad either, since it just means your hand's size is down by one. However, The Needle is a boss blind that only lets you play one hand, and it can ruin you if you face that one at the wrong time.

However, because runs are relatively short, Poker is pervasive enough in society to be aware of hands, and it follows the roguelike tradition of unlocking new decks vouchers, and items as you keep playing, Balatro becomes even more captivating. I'd keep thinking about the boss blinds I hadn't seen, the Jokers I hadn't uncovered, and how close I'd come to upping the Ante and facing greater challenges. I might be playing for five minutes. I could be playing for 20 or even 30. It didn't matter. Each moment was valuable, precious, and savored. I loved how it looked. I loved how it felt. I loved how good it made me feel to see the Jokers I'd collected, playing cards I'd found, and special cards I'd played made my deck—for a brief moment—feel unstoppable.

Balatro is a stunning game. It sticks with you. It never gets old. It's the sort of title that maybe you even pick up on multiple devices, so you can have it on a Switch or Steam Deck when you're on the go or a PS5 when you're at home. Everything comes together beautifully and seamlessly in Balatro, and it is now one of my favorite deck-building games ever.

Balatrois available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Stardew Valley Saves Will Be Safe After Update 1.6

Eric "Concerned Ape" Barone took to social media to assure people that their Stardew Valley saves will be safe, as the files won't be affected by update 1.6. This means people will still be able to maintain their longstanding farms without issue, though there is a new type of farm that will require a fresh save starting on March 19, 2024.

Here's the announcement, which confirmed a save wipe won't accompany 1.6.

https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/status/1765436400286237155

In a follow-up reply, Concerned Ape noted that the new kind of farm does require someone to restart. That announcement didn't note what type of farm it will be.

https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/status/1765436922137346120

As a reminder, right now someone can choose a standard, beach, forest, four corners, hill-top, riverland, or wilderness farm as of 1.5.

The farm type confirmation is just one kind of new content that will appear. So will eight-player multiplayer, a new festival, and a new type of storage chest that is larger than ones we'd seen previously in the game.

Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PCs, mobile devices, and the PlayStation Vita. The 1.6 update will launch for PCs on March 19, 2024, and it won't affect Stardew Valley saves when it does.

Red vs. Blue and RWBY Creator Rooster Teeth Being Shut Down

Warner Bros Discovery announced it will shut down Rooster Teeth. General Manager Jordan Levin, who became head of the studio in September 2019 following layoffs, announced the closure on March 6, 2024. [Thanks, Variety!]

The announcement came with some details about what will happen next for some of the company's properties and projects. The Roost Podcast Network will continue. Season 19 of the Halo series Red vs Blue, called Restoration, will apparently still roll out in 2024 as planned.

As for the Rooster Teeth currently running projects, Warner Bros is looking to sell the IPs for RWBY and Gen:Lock from the creator. Only two seasons of Gen:Lock appeared. The last season of RWBY was volume 9, which showed up on Crunchyroll in February 2023. Licensing Manager Geoff Yetter did note in January 2023 that planning started for volume 10, but it wasn't greenlit at the time.

Rooster Teeth was also known for making games, in addition to media projects. Many of these involved RWBY, like RWBY: Grimm Eclipse. A Switch version of that appeared in 2021. However, one of the most recent titles based on the series was RWBY: Arrowfell.

There's no official announcement on the official company site yet. It launched back in April 2023. The company was about to turn 21 on April 1, 2024.

Additionally, players who pre-purchase the game either Steam or the Epic Games Store will receive a New Game+ Horse, the Traveler's Attire armor set, and Broken Armor dyes from Baku's shop as a bonus.

Hololive 5th Fes 'Capture the Moment' Song Released

Ahead of Hololive Super Expo 2024 and 5th Fes, the Idol Project song "Capture the Moment" appeared. The title is also the slogan for the concert being held March 16-17, 2024.

There's no official music or lyric video for the new Hololive Idol Project song just yet. At the moment, the track is only live on a number of streaming services like Deezer, Line Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music. The standard and instrumental versions are a part of the single. The initial reveal does include images of the new idol outfits for Hololive 5th fes and features Vtubers like Tokino Sora, Usada Pekora, Ookami Mio, IRyS, Amane Kanata, Momosuzu Nene, Kazama Iroha, and Kobo Kanaeru.

Here's the Hololive Idol Project "Capture the Moment" song:

The announcement also noted the same people who composed this song made the first Hololive Idol Project song "Shiny Smily Story" in 2019.

As a reminder, the subtitle for each Hololive fes concert usually ends up being a new song performed at the event by the company's performers. The Hololive 4th Fes one was "Our Bright Parade." That one ended up having members from every branch singing. "Capture the Moment" is continuing that tradition.

Hololive Super Expo 2024 and 5th Fes will be held March 16-17, 2024. People can attend virtually and stream the performances.

Capcom Salary Increases Zangief

Capcom announced salary increases for all incoming staff for financial year 2025. In addition, smaller salary increases will be applied to all existing staff within the next financial year.

Graduates joining Capcom in the 2025/2026 financial year will be seeing salary increases of nearly 30%, raising the figure from ¥235,000 per month to ¥300,000 per month. In addition, all existing employees within Capcom will be seeing their salaries increased by 5% within the next financial year for 2024/2025. Employees will also receive an additional bonus payment which Capcom describe as an investment in their people. The figure of this special payment has not been disclosed.

These increases are part of a wider investment in staff across Capcom. Since 2022, the company has restructured its human resources department and introduced additional compensation for employees. A bonus system based on company performance had previously been introduced, and employees are also being offered stock options. The latest salary increases are also part of a wider 30% increase since 2022. It's also a reflection of Capcom's wider financial successes in recent years, with net sales up 33% as of their most recent financial report.

This announcement marks a rare bit of good news in an industry rocked by layoffs at companies including Sega and Activision Blizzard.

The Capcom salary increases will come into effect during financial year 2024/2025.

Stalker Title Promo Pic1All of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games have finally made their console debut nearly two decades after the series began on PC, and with three titles to choose from, many newcomers are wondering which order to play them in. Thankfully, there's a super simple answer for that. With STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl hitting Xbox consoles and PC later this year, now is the perfect time to catch up on the STALKER series to see what all the fuss is about. These are some of the most atmospheric shooters on the market, and the closest thing that console players have had until now is the excellent Metro series. The games can be a bit hard to get into because of their difficulty and learning curve, but a highly rewarding experience awaits anyone willing to brave the Zone. Recommended STALKER Playing Order The best way to play the STALKER games is in release order. You should start with Shadow of Chernobyl, then move on to Clear Sky, and then end with Call of Pripyat. This is the i...

Modern Warfare 3 SoulrenderCall of Duty has a new melee weapon called the Soulrender, but if you want to unlock it for use in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer and Warzone battle royale, you'll need to complete some tricky challenges. Thankfully, Soulrender is free for all players so you don't even need to purchase the Battle Pass to obtain it. Added to Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone in the Season 2 Reloaded update, Soulrender is a deadly sword that can defeat enemies in a single strike. It's already one of the most popular melee weapons in the game, and given how often sweaty players like to use melee weapons like the Kali Sticks, you're going to see a lot of this thing in your multiplayer matches and Warzone lobbies. How to Get Soulrender in MW3 and Warzone Screenshot: PC Invasion To unlock Soulrender in Call of Duty, you need to activate Sector B21 of the Battle Pass and then unlock every reward within that sector to claim the blade as your own.      Modern Warfare 3 Melee Backstab Kills Featured ImageBeing a backstabber will now be rewarded by the higher-ups. Hooray. Here is how to get melee backstab kills in Modern Warfare 3. Modern Warfare 3: How to get Melee Backstab Kills Shooting each other in the face has never been as fun as with the Call of Duty franchise. But whether it is with an extremely annoying build from Modern Warfare 2 that I refuse to acknowledge or a certain someone who really doesn't want you to go up the Gun Game ladder, using your melee attacks can also be a viable way to reach CoD stardom. But why limit yourself to regular knifing? What about some surprise attacks? Well, that's what Week 5 of Season 2 of Modern Warfare 3 is asking from us: to backstab our enemies and unalive them to get the SOA Subverter. Let's get things clear: to get these kills you need to position yourself perfectly behind an enemy Operator and use your melee capabilities. Now, I know that in a game as chaotic as Modern Warfare 3 expecting to land backstab kills...
