Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti gaming GPU to launch in weeks, new leak suggests

We could soon get our first official look at the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 in just a few weeks. A new leak is suggesting that Nvidia's budget-friendly graphics cards will be officially announced on April 15, with 8GB and 16GB RTX 5060 Ti variants set to go on sale the next day, and a 8GB non-Ti RTX 5060 hitting shelves a few weeks later.

These new Nvidia graphics cards are unlikely to be competing with the RTX 5090 on performance. While the company hasn't officially announced them yet, we'll be expecting the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 to try and dominate the lower end of the GPU market. AMD is pushing back hard with stiff competition, however, and with the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT already crowned the best graphics card for most gamers, Nvidia is going to need a serious success if it wants to stay ahead.

The first signs of AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT gaming GPUs have been spotted in an official government database, suggesting that their launch isn't too far away.      FF14 patch notes confirm rumored Black Mage changes, and they're divisive

My first ever FF14 character was a Black Mage. Enticed by the allure of elemental magic having played everything from Ice Mage to Shadow Priest in World of Warcraft, it felt like the perfect fit. As I pulled up to Ul'dah and Sultana Dreaming began to play, I knew that Eorzea was something special. But as of late I've found myself drifting away from spellcasters, and Black Mage specifically, favoring Monk and Ninja over ranged DPS. But, as spotted by eagle-eyed fans during the last Live Letter and now confirmed in the latest round of FF14 patch notes, Black Mage has been reworked considerably, splitting the playerbase down the middle.

Paradox have announced that 4X space strategy game Stellaris's next major overhaul will launch on 5th May, alongside the game's BioGenesis DLC pack. The latter adds living spaceships together with new civics, traits and megastructures, but I'm more interested in the 4.0 update, which they're branding the "phoenix update" in that it aims to overhaul performance problems caused by the 4X game's update-bloated systems, while making "guidance and pacing" changes with new players in mind.

It doesn't sound nearly as exciting on the surface as living spaceships, I'll grant you, but this is a 4X game, don't forget - the mythological firebird is in the detail.

♫ Stabbing a man. Stabbing a man. Sometimes in Greece. Sometimes in Japan. Stabbing a man. Sometimes in a meadow. Here is our verdict on Assassin's Creed Shadows

Nic: To kick off this verdict, I have no choice but to ask my most insightful question: how Assassin-y is this Assassin's Creed Game?

Jeremy: This is the first AssCreed game I've engaged with since Assassin's Creed II, which I watched my roommate play through in university. So my opinion is not especially scientific, but from what I've seen it is very Assassin-y. The story – which is serviceable if not anything original – revolves around tackling a group of masked bad guys known as the Onryo (that's Japanese for ghost), who are introduced with cool chanbara-style music. You've got to kill all of them, and sometimes you have to kill other folks who are connected with them, and in general there is a whole lot of assassinating going on, either with Naoe (who slices and dices with the standard hidden blade) or Yasuke (who has a 'brutal' assassination where he shoves his katana into someone's face).

Open world sci-fi RPG Beta Decay is being delightfully greedy. The game's retro PS1-inspired art style hides some furious ambitions. pokemon uniqlo

Uniqlo in Japan is selling two lines of Pokemon T-shirts, with one of them specifically for babies. Stores outside of Japan should see them in stock some time in April 2025.

The Pokemon baby clothes from Uniqlo cost 990 JPY ($6.55), or $12.90 when they show up in the United States in late April 2025. You can get four variations: a Pikachu, and Pikachu and Eevee, a Piplup, and a pattern depicting the Paldean starter Pokemon. Despite Pikachu not being a Paldea starter Pokemon, it's there.

For children and adults, the new shirts are part of Uniqlo's Pokemon Sketch UT line. These designs depict the Pokemon in a more sketch-like art style. In Japan, an adult T-shirt costs 1,500 JPY ($10) while a kid's costs 990 JPY ($6.55). Meanwhile, the United States website lists an adult shirt for $24.90 and a kids' for $14.90.

Considering the worldwide appeal of the Pokemon franchise, it may not come as a surprise to know that Uniqlo has teamed up with The Pokemon Company multiple times in the past to sell shirts. Back in 2021, it released Pokemon shirts in collaboration with street artists, James Jarvis and Meguru Yamaguchi. A year later, in 2022, it released shirts with designs by Jun Sugiyama and Kenichi Miyazawa. Finally, in April 2023, it announced Pokemon Masters EX shirts.

The Pokemon Sketch shirts are now available in Uniqlo in Japan, and they'll appear in other regions in April 2025.

baskin robbins one piece

Baskin Robbins Japan is teasing a One Piece collaboration, in which you can eat flavors inspired by Devil Fruits from the series. According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), Baskin Robbins will reveal more details about the flavors on March 25, 2025.

The promotional image for the collaboration shows a ball of ice-cream that's purple with a red sauce on it. What looks like white candies dot the surface area. You can see the BR logo above, which now features Luffy helping to form the R. As for the post itself, it states that the One Piece flavors will appear in stores from April 2025, and welcomes people to try and guess what they'll taste like.

Another promotion that's ongoing right now with Baskin Robbins Japan is a crossover event with Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds. This one can net you an in-game charm, as well as real life merchandise. While you can purchase a special set of ice cream as part of this promotion, this one doesn't have any new limited time flavors, like the previous Splatoon 3 or Super Mario promotions did.

Baskin Robbins will start selling its One Piece flavors in April 2025, and more information on said flavors will come out on March 25, 2025.

The PS5 has been out for a while now, but that doesn't mean that developers have stopped making games for the PS4. It's still going strong, and we've had a look into the console's library to find our favorite 3D turn-based JRPGs. If you're looking for a game to play on your PlayStation 4 then we have 10 must-play JRPGs listed below.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Screenshot of the hero from Deagon Quest XI S
Image via Square Enix

Dragon Quest is one of the most iconic series of all time, and when it comes to turn-based JRPGs it's one of the first series that will likely come to mind. However, the most famous games in the series are the original pixel art games. While 3D designs were introduced in Dragon Quest IX, it only reached its full modern form in one of the series' greatest entries, Dragon Quest XI.

If you love the combat in other Dragon Quest games, then you're getting more of that here, alongside the other Dragon Quest hallmarks. You'll explore a wide-open world full of secrets, speak with NPCs, and feel the world change seemingly separate from your actions. It wraps everything fans have loved about the series for decades in a gripping and fresh new story.

Persona 3 Reload

Screenshot of an All-Out Attack from Persona 3 Reload Episode Aegis
Screenshot by Siliconera

Persona is one of the most popular series of turn-based JRPGs, and Persona 3 is a personal favorite – despite the original not allowing you to control your teammates. Persona 5 Royal is perhaps the more obvious choice for this slot – and it is incredible – I was surprised to find that the excellent remake Persona 3 Reload was simultaneously released on PS4 as well as PS5.

Aside from shiny new graphics, and a UI so beautiful it will make you weep, Persona 3 Reload adds new battle elements including the much needed alterations to the game's difficulty. There are more Personas, items, and fusions than ever before, and you don't have to worry about upsetting people and reversing their social links. Persona 3 is a must play, and if you're used to the comforts of Persona 5 then Reload is the version you'll want.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Screenshot of Ichiban and Kiryu in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Image via Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio

Another extremely recent release that is also available on PS4, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is one of the best games in the Yakuza series. While games in the series are usually action RPGs, this changed with the also brilliant Yakuza: Like A Dragon, where our new protagonist Ichiban Kasuga perceives every street brawl as a turn-based battle. Despite being joined by the original protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, both of our guys take turns when they fight.

In Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth Ichiban travels to Hawaii to find his biological mother after being told where she lives. He finds that she has gone missing, and after a chance encounter, he teams up with Kiryu to solve the mystery. It's not only a heart-warming story, but it has all of the goofy side quests, must-play mini games, and karaoke that the series is known for.

Valkyria Chronicles 4

Screenshot of the party from Valkyria Chronicles 4
Image via Sega

When it comes to turn-based JRPGs, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is instantly intriguing with its dreamy yet comic book-style aesthetic. Unlike other JRPGs, which are set in high school, and / or epic open world exploration, Valkyria Chronicles is based on war. The series as a whole is about your army's strategic plays, and the bonds between your units.

Valkyria Chronicles' strength as a series has long been its robust post game. There is almost more to do after you roll credits than before, and Valkyria Chronicles 4 really pushes the boat out on this. Alongside more battles, there are six more recruitable characters, and even characters you can bring back from the dead. If you're looking to try out the series, the fourth entry puts its best foot forward.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

One of the best games of 2024, Metaphor: ReFantazio, released on PS4 as well as PS5 making it the perfect game for this list. The team that created Metaphor contains many of the developers from the modern Persona series, and it shows through the structure of the gameplay. Metaphor is more high-fantasy than high school, but you will still split your days between crawling dungeons and bonding with your party members.

When the king is assassinated it is decided that the next king will be decided democratically. In an effort to prevent the king's assassin Louis from taking the throne, you decide to run for the position. You and the few followers that you recruit travel the world, helping citizens in different towns around the country. Metaphor keeps the spirit of Persona, but includes a lot of learnings from the series' weaknesses.

Disgaea 5

Screenshot of characters talking in Disgaea 5
Image via Nippon Ichi Software

Disgaea 5 is one of the darker entries in what has historically been a goofy JRPG series. You still have the Prinnys – human souls trapped in a penguinesque bodies that are obsessed with the word dude – but there is the overarching sense of foreboding. You get the feeling that the game is taking itself a bit more seriously even if you don't.

Disgaea 5 is a mix of visual novel, and 3D isometric strategic battles that can be quite challenging if you don't get to grips with how the combat system works. All of the Disgaea games tie together, but you can enjoy each as their own standalone game, up to and including the most recent Disgaea 7, on PS4. A fantastic series to lose your life to.

Final Fantasy IX

Screenshot of a battle from Final Fantasy IX
Image via Square Enix

Almost every Final Fantasy game is available on PS4, though most are excluded from this list as the early games are in 2D, and the later games are action RPGs. In our list of the best 3D turn-based JRPGs on Switch we included Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy VIII – both of which are excellent games – but we thought that Final Fantasy IX also deserved the love, particularly given the long-standing rumors that a remake is on the way.

Final Fantasy IX takes everything learned from the previous games of the series, and works as a nostalgic trip down memory lane for long-time fans of the series. The developers took players' favorite parts of the other games in the series, and mixed them with a new and heartfelt story making it one of the best Final Fantasy games.

Digimon Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory

Screenshot of two Digimon from Digimon Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory
Image via Bandai Namco

You've likely heard something along the lines of Digimon being a more mature version of Pokémon, and while it definitely has darker themes, the combat systems are not at all similar. They are both creature collectors, but how those creatures grow stronger, and your team works together is completely different. Digimon not only grow stronger, but they grow weaker and stronger again to reach their final forms, and you battle with three at a time.

The actual 'mons aside, Digimon Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory is far darker than even Drampa burning down the houses of bullies with them inside. It's deep and emotional and the polar opposite to Pokémon's surface level stories, and it's all the stronger for it. It's very narratively deep and feels almost like a visual novel with how extensive the story-telling is. If you want a deep JRPG adventure, then Hacker's Memory is definitely worth playing.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III

Screenshot of two people talking from The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3
Image via NIS America

The Legend of Heroes is a long-running and iconic JRPG series, and Trails of Cold Steel is one of its most iconic subseries. If you're new to the Trails of Cold Steel, you should probably start at the beginning as the story carries over between entries, but we've picked the third game here as it's probably the strongest. Trails of Cold Steel III's introduction will catch you up, but you owe it to yourself to play the whole subseries.

The games in the Trails of Cold Steel series tell an epic adventure. In the third game our characters are a little older, and the war is over, but there is still political tensions hiding just beneath the surface. It's heavy on the story, and how the characters live and interact with each other, but also has a deep combat system. If you're a fan of turn-based party combat, and how the characters synergize in battle, then this is the choice for you.

Blue Reflection: Second Light

Screenshot of a character shooting from Blue Reflection: Second Light
Image via Koei Tecmo

The least well-known series on the list, Blue Reflection didn't receive much hype when it launched back in 2017. It was seen as a mediocre JRPG with your standard themes of high school girls and the power of friendship. However, the sequel Blue Reflection: Second Light allows the series to step into its own, with powerful storytelling, and touching characterization.

It's clear that lessons have been learned from the mediocre reception to the first game. Combat system has changed from the original to make it more complex and engaging. The same goes for the characters, which are not only more fleshed out, but the juxtaposition between the intense battles and the girls' touching relationships make for a stark contrast. One to try.

Let us know what your favorite JRPGs for the PlayStation 4 are in the comments below!

sanrio takara tomy tomica tunes

Takara Tomy will release Tomica Tunes toys featuring Sanrio characters in miniature cars. They'll come out in late May 2025.

Each Sanrio Tomica Tunes car will cost 1320 JPY ($8.75). You'll have to get them in a blind box, and Takara Tomy warns that even if you purchase an entire full box of them, you might not be able to collect them all. In total, there are seven variations of the toys: Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Pochacco, Cinnamoroll, My Melody, and Kuromi. The seventh one is a secret.

Takara Tomy made the mascots using die casting techniques, and they've personalized their car to really match with their general aesthetic. According to the Takara Tomy website, the toy tells a very positive and optimistic story. The mascots look scared because they're lost and unsure of where to go. However, because they never stop driving, they'll reach their goal in time.

Takara Tomy has released Sanrio toys multiple times in the past. Usually, these ones appear in gachapon machines, though. Some examples include miniature figures of the Sanrio mascots looking like sushi, figures of the mascots hugging even smaller versions of themselves, and figures of them lying down on their stomachs and sleeping.

The Sanrio Tomica Tunes toys will appear in Japan in late May 2025.

FFVII Rebirth Tifa Character Model Pose Explained

Square Enix shared the updated model and CG renders used for Tifa in FFVII Rebirth and the remake games and offered details of the choices that went behind their designs. The insight appeared on the Final Fantasy VII official social media account.

The full body CG render used for Tifa in FFVII Rebirth was touched up and updated from her render in FFVII Remake, in order to convey her charm and appeal as a character. When the developers were creating the bust-up CG render, Tifa's facial expression showed hints of her real emotions and doubts. The final version of her model instead has a different approach to her characterization, showing the side of Tifa that is trying to hide that part of herself.

You can check out the models here:

https://twitter.com/FFVIIR_CLOUD/status/1904005253038829776

The developers will most likely continue to share character CG models and renders, as they have been doing so for the past few weeks after the PC release of FFVII Rebirth. So far, Cloud, Sephiroth, and Aerith have received a detail look at their in-game renders.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is readily available for the PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. Final Fantasy VII Remake is out on the PS4, PS5, and PC.

twisted wonderland trailer

The Disney+ Japanese YouTube channel uploaded a trailer for Twisted Wonderland: Episode of Heartslabyul, the anime adaptation of the titular game. At a minute and a half long, the trailer gives us a look at the disastrous opening ceremony, in which protagonist Yuken finds himself in Twisted Wonderland and meets Grim.

The trailer appeared online over the weekend, and is only available in Japanese. Most of the housewardens briefly appear in the trailer, as they're present during the ceremony, save for Idia and Malleus.

You can watch the trailer below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvvakdu1qzI

Yohei Azakami voices Yuken in the anime adaptation of Twisted Wonderland: Episode of Heartslabyul. Azakami's prominent roles include Guel from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, Mydei from Honkai: Star Rail, and Toshizo Hijikata from Blue Miburo.

Twisted Wonderland is a Japanese mobile game in which you attend a school full of characters "twisted" from Disney villains. It's more akin to a text adventure with rhythm game and battle RPG elements than the dating sim some believe it to be. As a note, the anime is based off the manga adaptation rather than the game. There, the "Yu" changes from book to book. So it's unknown if Yuken will remain the protagonist in the following Savanaclaw and Octavinelle parts, or if the anime will somehow introduce a different Yu.

Twisted Wonderland is available on mobile devices and the anime will start airing in October 2025 as a Disney+ exclusive. You can also read the manga in English via Viz.

Galleon Is a New Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising DLC Character

Yet another new Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising DLC character is on the way, and this time it is the mortal form of the earth dragon Galleon the Gold. She'll join the game in Spring 2025. However, there's no exact release date for her and the 2.10 patch just yet.

We already had an idea Galleon would be showing up in the game. Back when Season 2 was announced, Cygames and Arc System Works went over the new characters we can expect to see. Sandalphon appeared first. In the original Granblue Fantasy, she uses many earth-based attacks. Some of these include her Terrestrial Pulse charged attack and her Bedrock Rain skill. We could see these, or attacks based on them, in the fighting game.

Here's the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Galleon DLC teaser trailer. It shows the the character when she enters the field. However, none of her moveset appears in the video. Instead, it's just a hint at how she'll eventually look and sound.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaAOcmeEmOg

As for the rest of Season 2 of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, we'll also see three more characters join the cast. One is Wilnas, who is set to show up in Summer 2025. In Fall 2025, we'll see Meg. Finally, that pass will end in 2026 with Ilsa.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, and Galleon will be the next DLC character in Spring 2025. The original game in the series appeared on the PS4 and PC.

Capcom Figure Builder Creators Model of Tamamitsune aka Mizutsune from Monster Hunter

Capcom has revealed that it will restock its Monster Hunter figure of Mizutsune, a character which debuted in Generations. The product, which is part of the Capcom Figure Builder Creators' Model line, will be available once again in late September 2025.

The figure of Mizutsune, which is originally known in Japan as Tamamitsune, appeared first on May 25, 2017, which was in-between the Japanese releases of Monster Hunter XX (Generations Ultimate) on the 3DS and Switch in the same year. But while the figure back then was purchasable for 13,200 yen, the new re-release will have a higher price tag of 16,500 yen. People residing outside of Japan, however, can now order the figure from the Japanese e-Capcom storefront via the WorldShopping widget at around $110.70.

This trailer from the original 2017 release also shows how the figure looks from various angles:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYfAcu_Geik

Capcom had also previously released a rage mode variant of the monster simultaneously in 2017. In addition, the company released another variant based on the Violet Mizutsune rare species, which debuted in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, in August 2023. This new restock will only feature the original Mizutsune figure.

Mizutsune, one of the flagship monsters in Monster Hunter Generations, has also become one of the series' popular monsters as it returned in Monster Hunter Rise. The same monster is also slated to appear in the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC game Monster Hunter Wilds via the first major title update coming in April 2025.

The Capcom Figure Builder Creators' Model of Mizutsune from the Monster Hunter series will be available again on September 25, 2025.

Honkai: Star Rail Special Program for 3.2 Airs This Week

HoYoVerse confirmed and set the Honkai: Star Rail Special Program air date and details for the 3.2 showcase. It will air at 4:30am PT/7:30am ET on March 28, 2025. The image teasing it only highlights Pom Pom, so it is unknown who could appear as the "hosts." As usual, it will appear on Twitch and YouTube.

While we don't know who will "host" the presentation, we do know the two characters who will be the new additions in the update. Both Anaxagoras and Castorice will join the game in 3.2. Both are Chrysos Heir characters that are from Amphoreus. These are folks that are expys of the Flame-Chasers from Honkai Impact 3rd. Castorice could be this universe's take on Griseo, while Anaxa could be inspired by Kosma. Some of the comparisons are more obvious, as Mydei is clearly based on Kalpas, Agalaea seems to be Aponia, and Phainon is Kevin.

Other staples will come up during the presentation. For example, we'll learn about the latest Trailblaze Mission during the showcase. Additional events will be revealed. So will codes for Stellar Jades.

Silent Hill f Refused Classification

The Classification Board in Australia has no longer refused classification for Silent Hill f, despite reports over the past weekend. The upcoming horror game is now awaiting classification ahead of its release. This update came after Stevivor received an official comment from the board regarding the new game's status. [Thanks, Stevivor!]

The Australian Classification Board initially featured a page that revealed Silent Hill f had been refused classification, meaning it was effectively banned from sale in the country. However, this appears to be an automatic classification provided through the IARC Global Rating Tool, which publishers can use to self-report the content of their game.

However, it's historically been a problem in Australia, where games tend to get an automatic rating higher than the one assigned by the Classification Board itself. Games such as We Happy Few and Kingdom Come: Deliverance have also been reported to have been refused for classification through this system, despite releasing in Australia without issue. A recent statement from the Board itself has confirmed that Silent Hill f is still awaiting a rating and has not been refused classification in Australia.

The Australian Classification Board has a rocky history with video games. This is due to the highest rating (R 18+) originally not being applied to games in the way they would for movies. This was changed in 2013, but its requirements remain strict. Games which feature drug use as a form of reward, sexual violence or "high impact violence" are usually refused classification. Silent Hill f's Steam page features a warning about the game containing child abuse and drug-induced hallucinations. These are likely reasons for why the system initially claimed the game has been refused classification.

Silent Hill f is the next upcoming game in Konami's horror series. Originally announced in 2022, a full trailer was shown off at the latest Silent Hill Transmission in March 2025. It will be set in Japan during the 1960s and features a story written by Ryukishi07 (When They Cry series).

Silent Hill f is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Last Dance of the Onryo Mask and Robe armor set

The Assassin's Creed Shadows world encompasses many Japanese myths and legends, continuing the series' long tradition of blending history with mythic allure. In particular, you can unlock the Last Dance of the Onryo Mask and Robe to equip Naoe with a frightening new armor. Here's where to find this gear.

Where to find Last Dance of the Onryo Robe in AC Shadows

You can find the Last Dance of the Onryo Robe in the Wakasa province's Grave of the Three Emperors. This area is in between the Shattered Coast and Onyu Pass. If you're just starting in Assassin's Creed Shadows, you may want to save this location for later due to the enemies' Level 29 difficulty. However, you may be able to get by even with a lower ranking, given that there are no enemies at the Grave of the Three Emperors.

Grave of the Three Emperors map location in Wakasa
Screenshot by Destructoid

Locate the main building here, and you should uncover a Legendary Chest hidden in the back. It'll be below a set of large rocks. Open the chest to acquire the Legendary Robe and gain a unique armor Engraving.

Onryo Robe ability

The Onryo Robe comes with the Cheat Death Engraving, letting you avoid death and gain immunity for eight seconds one time. That'll give you a second chance whenever you're overwhelmed by enemy attacks. You'll know it's in effect when you glow white, giving you time to replenish your health with rations. If you don't heal yourself, you may end up dead after the Cheat Death ability depletes.

Where to find Last Dance of the Onryo Mask in AC Shadows

Like the Robe, you can discover the Last Dance of the Onryo Mask in Wakasa, inside the Obama area's Yaobikuni Cave. Be warned; there is a Level 29 or higher enemy here, so be sure to come prepared for a grueling fight.

While on the pathway from Shattered Coast to Obama, you'll find the entrance to Yaobikuni Cave. It's pretty dark inside, but fortunately, the pathway is straightforward. Once you've traveled through the cracks of the rocky terrain, you'll encounter an enemy guarding a Legendary Chest. Eliminate them to acquire the Onryo Mask and its distinct Engraving. You can also travel further up Wakasa to unlock an exclusive Katsuhime romance scene (you'll have to progress through the main campaign to trigger this moment.)

Onryo Mask ability

The Mask grants the Health after Ability Engraving, restoring five percent of Health on the next hit after using Abilities. Any time you've activated one of Naoe's Abilities, you'll most likely trigger this Engraving skill. All in all, the Legendary Onryo Mask and Robe are excellent for healing buffs, prolonging Naoe's survivability. You can also attach an additional Engraving at the Blacksmith's Forge for more armor benefits.

If you equip the Last Dance of the Onryo Mask and Robe together, you can earn the AC: Shadows trophy: Better than a Bucket. The achievement unlocks after you've equipped a Legendary gear in both armor slots.

Suika and Makuwauri NPCs battling

While the Assassin's Creed franchise is known for its violent nature, there are occasional humoristic moments that add a whimsical flair. AC: Shadows encompasses one of these bizarre situations where you'll discover the Melon Lord Easter Egg. Here's a guide on whether you should choose Suika or Makuwauri.

AC Shadows: Melon Lord Easter Egg location

Before we dive into the decision process, you should know where to find the Melon Lord Easter Egg first. It'll be on the northern side of the Izumi Settsu province, within the Suika Lands.

Melon Lord Easter Egg location in Izumi Settsu
Screenshot by Destructoid

Travel up the hill, and you should find a rundown village there. You'll see the two intriguing melon NPCs fighting here, allowing you to approach them for a unique choice experience. Don't worry; you won't get hit by their attacks. Well, at least not yet.

AC Shadows: Should you choose Suika or Makuwauri?

You'll initially speak to Suika No Bakemono (the one wearing a watermelon), who will tell you about his family's battle against the Makuwauri melon clan. He'll then ask you, "Which is your favorite? The delicious suika, or the mediocre makuwauri?" Suika means "Watermelon" in Japanese, while makuwauri translates to "melon." After selecting both options, I've deduced it doesn't matter which one you pick, since they both present the same rewards.

Suika or Makuwauri decision
Screenshot by Destructoid

You will always gain the Damage after Ability Engraving and +2,000 XP, no matter your decision. But their outcomes are relatively different. If you choose "I prefer the suika," you'll battle the one with the melon on its head, and vice versa for the makuwauri. The battle shouldn't be too challenging, though it does seem to match the difficulty level of your current rank. You may have an easier time using Yasuke due to his robust strength.

Defeat the Makuwauri No Bakemono to unlock the "Melon Lord" title for the suika. Or take down Suika No Bakemono to give this title to the makuwauri. You can go with your own personal preferences for this Assassin's Creed Shadows choice, since it won't have any negative impact when choosing a specific one. Naturally, the one you're heading into battle with is bound to be a bit miffed at your decision, but it isn't as monumental as some of the other major dialogue points.

After you've defeated one of these characters, they'll begin an endless conversation where you can't interact with them anymore. I tried to see if any changes happened to them throughout the seasons, yet they continue to be in this discussion. If you're looking for more hidden features in AC Shadows, check out our riddle guides on the tiny seashell province answer and what sucks in from the bottom question.

Full Hollow Ichigo, as shown in Rebirth of Souls.

Bleach Rebirth of Souls allows most of its cast to awaken mid-battle to bring their Bankai, Shikai, or Resurrección forms into play. But did you know that Ichigo (Bankai), Ichida, Ulquiorra, and Aizen can take that one step further via their game-changing reawakenings?

No matter if you are looking for a second wind or to simply show your foes true despair, here's how to reawaken with all the characters in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

How to reawaken with Ichigo Kurosaki (Bankai) in Bleach Rebirth of Souls

Ichigo goes Full Hollow in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

In a recreation of how his Full Hollowfication came to be in the source material, you can trigger Ichigo's Reawakening in Bleach Rebirth of Souls by losing all of your Koupaku bars while having his final Fighting Spirit meter maxed. You'll know you reached his final meter once Ichigo enters Sublimation.

If you're looking for a surefire way to boost your Fighting Spirit gain, I recommend making constant use of Soul Reverse for a 40/50-percent single-meter increase per use. Upon being revived, Full Hollow Ichigo will take the field with two bars of Konpaku.

How to reawaken with Aizen in Bleach Rebirth of Souls

Aizen's Reawakening in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

Like Ichigo, you can trigger Aizen's reawakening in Bleach Rebirth of Souls by being defeated with a fully charged Sublimation Fighting Spirit meter. As Aizen can only reach his true Awakened state by triggering a second Evolution while on Chrysalis, you will need to raise his Fighting Spirit meter a total of four times to unlock the ability to enter Fourth Fusion. To make your job easier and improve your chances of staying alive while completing the requirement, don't forget to use Kyôka Suigetsu to nullify Konpaku DMG when in do-or-die situations.

How to perform Kyôka Suigetsu and cancel Kikon Moves with Aizen

You can perform Kyôka Suigetsu and negate the Koupaku DMG of one Kikon Move per match by pressing R3 + L3 during your opponent's Kikon animation. The exact timing here won't matter, as long as the animation does not end. Kyôka Suigetsu can only be performed by base form Aizen and costs two Reverse bars. Before you ask—yes, the move can work after a Soul Break will come with Aizen's iconic "Since when were you under the impression...'' line.

How to reawaken with Ulquiorra and Uryu Ishida in Bleach Rebirth of Souls

Ulquiorra's Second Etapa in Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

The most straightforward characters to reawaken, you can trigger both Ichida's Letzt Stil and Ulquiorra's Second Etapa reawakenings in Rebirth of Souls by pressing R3 + L3 after fully raising their Fighting Spirt meters during Sublimation. Similarly to a regular awakening, a huge red Evolution tab will be showcased below your chosen character's Fighting Spirit gauge once they're ready to show their true strength.

Khazan faces off in a heated battle against a boss

Like most Soulslike games, leveling up is a huge part of The First Berserker: Khazan. It makes your character stronger thus making boss fights more manageable. We've put together an ultimate The First Berserker: Khazan leveling guide that includes the best leveling spots, builds, and more.

Khazan stands in a dark cave at the bright red Blade Nexus
Screenshot by Destructoid

How leveling works in The First Berskerer: Khazan

As you kill enemies in The First Berserker: Khazan you'll gain a resource called Lacrima. Much like Souls in the Dark Souls series, Lacrima is used to level up your character and increase your stats. Upon death, you will drop your unspent Lacrima at the location in which you died and have one opportunity to return to it to reclaim the Lacrima you dropped.

A new feature to the Soulslike formula in The First Berserker: Khazan is progressive Lacrima rewards for attempting boss fights. While you will still be rewarded with Lacrima for defeating a Boss, you'll also gain Lacrima when attempting a boss fight if you die as long as you reach a certain amount of damage. The Lacrima is spawned at the front of the boss entrance, allowing you to claim it after death and spend it to level up and get an extra advantage before attempting the boss fight again.

Scattered throughout the world in Khazan are Blade Nexus', which serves a function similar to that of Bonfires from the Souls series. At a Blade Nexus, you can restore your health and replenish your healing items as well as level up and place points into various Stats using the Lacrima you've earned. This also "resets" the surrounding area, respawning any enemies other than bosses.

A stats screen showing how to upgrade stats and level up in The First Berserker: Khazan
Screenshot by Destructoid

What all the Stats in The First Berserker: Khazan do

In total, there are five stats in The First Berserker: Khazan: Vitality, Endurance, Strength, Willpower, and Proficiency. Every time you spend Lacrima to upgrade one of the Stats, your level increases by one and the Lacrima cost for the next upgrade increases. Here's what increasing each Stat in The First Berserker: Khazan does:

  • Vitality - A defensive Stat that greatly increases your Health and Resistances.

    • Increases Max Health by 50.
    • Increases Attack DMG by 1.
    • Decreases Weight by 0.05%.
    • Increases all Attribute Resistances by 4.

  • Endurance - A Stat that mainly increases Stamina and Stamina Recovery.

    • Increases Max Health by 10.
    • Increases Max Stamina by 15.
    • Increases Attack DMG by 1.
    • Increases Stamina Recover by 0.8%.

  • Strength - An offensive Stat for increasing raw damage output.

    • Increases Max Health by 10.
    • Increases Attack DMG by 2.
    • Decreases Weight by 0.1%.
    • Increases Received Stamina DMG Decrease by 0.6%.

  • Willpower - An overall effective stat for increasing damage and boosting Stamina.

    • Increases Max Health by 10.
    • Increases Attack DMG by 3.
    • Increases Stamina recovery by 0.4%.
    • Increases Guard Stamina DMG Decrease by 0.7%.

  • Proficiency - An all-around Stat that

    • Increases Max Health by 10.
    • Increases Attack DMG by 1.
    • Increases Stamina DMG Increase by 0.4%.
    • Increases Dodge Stamina Cost Decrease by 0.7%.

Best stats to level up early

All stats are important in The First Berserker: Khazan, but some will have more noticeable improvements to your overall strength and capabilities in the early game, so are recommended to grab early. All stats also increase your Max Health and Attack DMG a little bit, so you'll consistently be increasing your power with each level, though some stats can improve each of those even more per level.

In the early game, it's recommended to invest levels into the Vitality and Endurance Stats. Increasing your Vitality will vastly improve your defenses, giving you five times more Max Health than all the other stats, increase Attribute Resistances against all damage types (Fire, Water, Lightning, Earth, Chaos, Plague, and Poison), and increase your overall weight capacity.

Meanwhile, Endurance provides a massive Max Stamina increase as well as greatly boosts your Stamina Recovery. Early on, combat in Khazan can feel a bit clunky as you'll quickly run out of Stamina and then be exposed to attacks or stand there awkwardly. By improving your Max Stamina and the rate at which it regenerates early on, you'll make every build feel better.

Best places to farm Lacrima and level in Khazan

Throughout The First Berserker: Khazan you'll encounter varying degrees of difficulty, especially with bosses. It can be advantageous to find a quality spot to farm Lacrima to quickly level up to give you that extra edge when trying to push through and take down a specifically challenging encounter. Here are some of the best places to farm Lacrima and level up fast in The First Berserker: Khazan:

A bright red Lacrima explosion erupts from the Blade Phantom boss in The First Berserker: Khazan
Screenshot by Destructoid

Early-game Lacrima farming spot

If you're looking to get quick early Lacrima and levels in The First Berserker: Khazan, progress until you reach a snowy area called the Frozen Mountain, and more specifically the quest Trials of the Frozen Mountain which tasks you with Facing the Trials of the Bantu and subduing the ghost. The recommended level for this question is level nine.

Once here, start from the Blade Nexus and take out the four Volk Warriors en route towards the Blade Phantom. Take out 50 percent of the Blade Phantom's health which will earn you a hefty amount of Lacrima. Getting him to 50 percent health will start a second phase, but instead of killing the Blade Phantom, let it defeat you, which will drop the massive amount of Lacrima you've just earned at the front of the Boss Entrance. Run back to this area, once again killing the Volk Warriors on the way, and repeat this pattern to quickly earn a massive amount of Lacrima early on.

Warzone Verdansk cover

Among all the highly anticipated Warzone features, the return of Verdansk is undoubtedly the most desired. Revered as one of the best maps in Call of Duty history, it holds a special place in players' hearts. Thankfully, it's coming back, and we're here to explain Verdansk's release date and times.

Warzone Verdansk release date and countdown

Verdansk will release in Warzone on April 3, 2025, alongside Black Ops 6's Season 3 debut. Although we have yet to get an official release time, it'll likely stick with the traditional pattern of dropping at 9am PT. Here's a breakdown of Verdansk's expected time zone releases:

  • Pacific Time: April 3, 2025 at 9am
  • Central Time: April 3, 2025 at 1pm
  • Eastern Time: April 3, 2025 at 12pm
  • Greenwich Mean Time: April 3, 2025 at 4pm
  • Central European Time: April 3, 2025 at 5pm
  • India Standard Time: April 3, 2025 at 9:30pm
  • Japan Standard Time: April 4, 2025 at 1am
  • Australian Eastern Daylight Time: April 4, 2025 at 3am
  • New Zealand Daylight Time: April 4, 2025 at 5am

You can also use this universal countdown to see the exact time Verdansk drops in Call of Duty: Warzone:

[hurrytimer id="1038031"]

If there s any news regarding the official times, we'll update this guide once more information has been released. I suggest clearing out your storage, as Call of Duty seasonal drops typically range from 30GB to 50GB. It may even be higher if Black Ops 6 Zombies content is included in the file. But players who only play Warzone don't need to download patches exclusive to BO6, given that the files are separated.

Verdansk return in Warzone
Screenshot via Call of Duty YouTube

Pre-load patches will be available to prepare you for the Season 3 launch. While Battle.net users generally get to download it a few days early, console players may have to wait until the day of or the night before.

Expected Verdansk features in Warzone

Everything you know and love about Verdansk will return, staying true to the Warzone map's original design from Infinity Ward. Visuals have improved tremendously with the latest technology, including realistic grass, bushes, and tree textures. The Verdansk Intel Drop also indicates that "a new high-resolution sky" has been added, along with updates to reflections and lighting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dje9tXNgT2g

Beenox, Raven, and High Moon Studios have joined forces to bring this reimagined Verdansk to life. It'll have you feeling like you're stepping back in time, right to the golden days when Warzone first introduced its thrilling Battle Royale experience. So, whether you're a veteran reliving the nostalgia or a newcomer eager to uncover the epic origins of the Warzone saga, make sure to mark your calendars for this Call of Duty map return.

Combat scene in Atomfall

Atomfall is now live on early access, and you can enjoy the content by grabbing the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game.

One of the several benefits of the Digital Deluxe Edition is the two bonus supply packs. These packs offer you a decent head start with additional resources. To do so, you'll have to find them first inside the game.

How to obtain the preorder supply packs in Atomfall

Wyndham Village in Atomfall

Unlike most video games, Atomfall doesn't provide you with bonuses on a plate. Instead, you'll have to follow a lead called "New Items to Trade" under the Investigations tab to get the two supply packs. To do so, you'll have to head to Wyndham Village, and reach Grendel's Head.

If you follow the lead, it will help you reach Alf. Alf helps to maintain Grendel's Head, and you can find him at 34.2E, 79.3N. He has plenty of items to barter, but you're specifically looking for a metal detector. Without a metal detector, you won't be able to unlock any supply.

How to get the Enhanced Supply Bundle in Atomfall

Enhanced Supply Pack location in Atomfall

Both the Basic Supply Bundle and the Enhanced Supply Bundle are hidden under the Buried Treasure lead, and they're located in Wyndham Village. The first one can be found at the Village Green, northwest of Grendel's Head.

Once you reach Village Green, go to the south side and take the stairs. You'll come across a memorial with a bench to its left. The Enhanced Supply Bundle will be along the path to the left of the bench. Just use your detector, and you'll unearth the bundle.

Once you find the Enhanced Supply Bundle, follow the other Buried Treasure lead to find the Basic Supply Bundle. Head to the coordinates 34.2E, 80.2N, and you'll be off to Village Green. This bundle can be found at the eastern part of Village Green, near the path that leads to the Little Tea Room building. You'll come across a set of stairs with a Union Jack Flag.

Use the detector once again, and you'll find the cache on the ground. This one will reward you with two bandages, two combat stims, and one first aid kit.

an image of confronting Otama or Wakasa in Assassin's Creed Shadows

While playing the Rebuilding chapter in Assassin's Creed Shadows, you'll come across a quest named The Tea Ceremony where you must attend an occasion organized by Imai Sokyu.

This is where two ladies, Otama or Wakasa, will show up, and you need to confront them. But who should you confront? We have the answer for you.

The section below contains spoilers.

Should you confront Otama or Wakasa in Assassin's Creed Shadows?

The choice of confronting either Otama or Wakasa shows up towards the end of The Tea Ceremony.

an image of confronting Wakasa in Assassins Creed Shadows

Now, to get a faster ending, you should confront Wakasa. She's the Golden Teppo and assassinating her is the main objective of the questline. Once you've chosen to go the Wakasa way, you have to kill her using a gun shortly after she invites you (Naoe) back.

Once you're done killing her, you can continue with the rest of the story. But if you choose to confront Otama instead, you will find out she isn't the Golden Teppo, and you have to ultimately get rid of Wakasa.

You then have to chase down Otama in Sakai, kill her, and get a letter that reveals the true identity of Wakasa. After that, head over to the Osaka Castle to assassinate Wakasa. She will be located on the topmost part of the castle surrounded by a level six enemy.

Wakasa is a level eight boss and you will then have to fight her to death to complete the quest and get a legendary Tanto Sword and some Mon as rewards.

This part just extends the entire plot and your choice won't actually matter throughout the rest of Assassin's Creed Shadows' story.

Riot Games released a roguelike card seasonal mini-game in the League of Legends client today titled The Demon's Hand, and there's little instruction on how to play it. Thankfully for players, we've got you covered on how to play The Demon's Hand in League of Legends as well as detailing all ranks, suits, hand types, and more.

How to play The Demon's Hand
Screenshot by Destructoid

How to play The Demon's Hand

From a technical standpoint, you can play The Demon's Hand directly in the League client simply by updating to the latest version.

The easiest way to understand The Demon's Hand is to relate it to Poker. Each card has three elements: a picture, a number (including those similar to Jack, Queen, King, and Ace from Poker), and the card's suit. The picture relates to the card-ranked number, so don't let that overwhelm you. For example, if you have two cards with the number five, their picture will be the same.

Your goal is to build the best five-card hand to attack your opponent. To do so, you'll unlock various Sigils (powerups) as you progress that allow you to increase the damage you deal. You can also discard three times each round and discard up to five cards each time.

After making your best five-card hand, click the Attack button, and the game will calculate your damage output based on the ranking of your five-card hand as well as any multipliers, buffs, or debuffs from your Sigils or match conditions.

On the table, you will also find an Attack Coin. Each time you attack, this number decreases by one. Once the value of the coin reaches zero, your opponent will attack back.

Your opponent has their own single card, represented by the larger card at the top of the table. It will feature a picture of your opponent as well as two numbers. The black number in the bottom left indicates how much damage it will deal to you each time the Attack Coin reaches 0, while the red number in the bottom right indicates its current health.

For each encounter, your goal is to attack enough to deplete your enemy's health while taking the least amount of damage possible from your enemy.

As you take out enemies, you'll progress on a branching map with different destinations to choose from along the way including stronger enemy encounters that yield better rewards, a shop to buy new Sigils, and a campfire to rest at and restore Health. At the end of each map is a boss encounter that has a special mechanic as well as higher-than-usual Health and Damage.

The ultimate goal of The Demon's Hand is to progress through each map while strategizing your Sigils to take out each map's boss and survive to the end.

All The Demon's Hand Attacks (hand combinations) and ranks

All Attacks (hand combinations) and ranks

The ranking of hands in The Demon's Hand is the same as those used in Poker and games like Balatro, they just have different names. Each Attack or hand has a different Base Damage it will deal when used, though you can increase this via a variety of modifiers including Sigils, Critical Damage Cards, and match modifiers.

Here are each of the Attacks (hand combinations) and the damage they deal in The Demon's Hand:

Best tips for winning in The Demon's Hand

As a roguelike, it's important to understand that not every run in The Demon's Hand will be the same. With so many randomized elements, some runs will feel much harder while others may seem much easier. It's important to formulate the best possible build and strategy with each run based on what options The Demon's Hand throws at you. That being said, there are some general tips for winning in The Demon's Hand that should improve your overall chance of successful runs.

  • Think Ahead. Keep in mind your Discards only last throughout the encounter, which can cause some pretty rough spots if you blow through against a high-health enemy without thinking ahead. If you are playing a hand like a Dyad or March and have multiple options for doing so, consider utilizing cards that can't help make you a Horde in later hands.
  • Use All Five Cards in Solo Attacks. Sometimes you might have absolute garbage in your hand, but may be out of Discards. You can use a Solo Attack (high card) while still choosing five cards and it will simply use up (discard) the other four cards. This can be used to try and get more useful cards to make the hands you are trying to make.
  • Stack Sigil Effects. It may be tempting to grab any Sigil that looks good but try and use ones that synergize with each other to maximize your multiplier and therefore damage output. For example, stack Dyadic (Dyad/Pair) Sigils with Harmony (Grand Warhost/Full House) Sigils to increase your modifiers for both that are used when playing a Grand Warhost Attack.

This splashart from League of Legends shows Jax, Lee Sin, Zyra, Vayne, and Zed wearing the red and white colors of T1 in these esports skins

League of Legends is full of champions who taunt their enemies, but only one says "Who wants a piece of the champ?!"

When I first saw today's LoLdle quote, I immediately thought of Draven. He's the most braggadocious, after all, and it made a lot of sense that he'd be taunting other champions into fighting him. And seeing how nearly 3,600 people guessed the Noxian ADC, it didn't seem like too bad of a guess. But that proved to be incorrect, leaving me fumbling for another answer.

If you're like me and you're struggling to guess the March 24 LoLdle quote, I've got a few hints for you.

March 24 LoLdle hints

Hint 1: This champion is most often played in the top lane, but they've been known as having some prowess in the jungle.

Designated roles are more like guidelines in League—just ask any hardstuck Bronze player. Regardless, Riot Games officially lists this champion as a top laner, though there was a day and age where people also played them in the jungle.

Hint 2: Having hit live servers in 2009, this champion is one of the oldest characters in the game.

This champion arrived on the Rift on Feb. 21, 2009, making them one of the oldest playable characters in the game. League released in 2009, and mow, over 16 years later, there are a whopping 170 champions in the game. This champion, though, can proudly say they've been there since the beginning.

Hint 3: This character is considered a "master of weapons."

This one is for all you lore nerds out there. This character wields a rather unsuspecting weapon: a lamppost. But in his lore, he's referred to as a "master of weapons." His old lore restricted him to the lamppost precisely because he was so talented with any other weapon. Now, after a lore rework, he wields this lamppost as a way to keep the fire from his homeland burning.

Still struggling to guess who says the March 24 LoLdle quote? We've got the answer coming right up.

Who says "Who wants a piece of the champ?!"

Jax, a purple man wearing a face covering with multiple circular lights where the eyes would be, in League of Legends.
Do you actually want a piece of the champ? Image via Riot Games

Answer: The champion who says "Who wants a piece of the champ?!" is Jax, the Grandmaster at Arms.

If you know Jax's lore in League, this answer makes a lot of sense. He's supposed to be one of the best brawlers in Runeterra. After leaving his ravaged home of Icathia, he began roaming the world, wielding a brazier-stave (what's really a lamppost), to find suitable warriors of a similar skill level in the ongoing fight against the Void.

Squirrel and Terry the Turtle in Squirreled Away

If you're a fan of survival games but dream of them being less murderous and more cute, you may agree with how Squirreled Away might just be the cutest survival game to come out of 2025. It's a big claim considering it's only March, but I'm standing by it.

Squirreled Away is a gorgeous indie gem from developer Far Seas and published by Amplifier Studios, the same publisher who brought us mecha-powered farming sim Lightyear Frontier. You play as a small red squirrel, an alien sight to me in the U.K. where they are all but extinct in 99 percent of places despite being native to the country. In the game, you can change your fur color, but that seems like a disservice to the red squirrel.

Chopping down a stick with the Pebble Axe in Squirreled Away
Screenshot by Destructoid

Along the way, you're tasked with helping various forest critters with the problems they face. Armed with various crafted tools, you can gather all manner of resources, such as pebbles and twigs, eventually working your way up to rocks and sticks. I know that doesn't sound like a big step up, but you're a squirrel, so everything is large to you.

New recipes are unlocked after finding new resources and meditating on them at one of the Squirrel Sanctuaries located on each island. The process is impossibly cute—your squirrel floating into the air and adopting the lotus position with more ease than I've ever been able to, and I've been attempting to practice yoga for years. There are Golden Acorns to find on every island, and finding all of them on any given island will restore the Sanctuary and increase your stamina.

My squirrel meditating on new recipes at a Squirrel Sanctuary in Squirreled Away
Screenshot by Destructoid

If all of this sounds good to you (which it absolutely should because there isn't a single thing not to enjoy about this beautiful experience), there's a demo available for free now through Steam. The demo lets you explore the entirety of the first island, meeting four new squirrel friends and a particularly buoyant turtle named Terry. You complete the first four squirrel quests, and then you can explore a tiny part of the second island.

Once you're at the second island, you can use "Squirrel Vision" to see all of the various critter NPCs that you'll be able to talk to when the full game releases on March 28, but you're blocked off by an invisible wall. You can talk to one NPC—Lotta Land, the seagull—who is more than willing to tell you about the building system.

Screenshot by Destructoid

Yes, you can build bases in Squirreled Away, which somehow came as a surprise despite this having all the expected hallmarks of a survival crafter. The caveat is you can only build up in the trees, which is understandable for the squirrel theme, and you unlock more blueprints as you go with the same Meditation system that's used to get more recipes.

The building system itself is smooth and easy to work with, reminding me a lot of the one used in Palworld, but with fewer quirks. Everything clicks together exactly as it should, and there's no limit to what you can create, as long as you have enough sticks to see you through. If not, you can take your trusty Pebble Tools and grab more resources for building purposes.

My small but perfectly formed treetop house in Squirreled Away
Screenshot by Destructoid

I've always been a fan of taking a survival game and making it cozy. I even managed it with Sons of the Forest, which came as a surprise even to me. Squirreled Away taps into my bizarre little niche and has done the hard work for me, allowing for a remarkably relaxing gameplay experience while still scratching that survival itch.

Battling a monster in Mo.Co

Every hunter needs to have an arsenal of gadgets as a means to further their survivability. You'll have a few items to work with initially, but they aren't exactly the best in the business. So, if you're curious about setting up your build, here's our Mo.Co gadget tier list.

Best Mo.Co Gadgets, ranked

The Splash Heal is the first gadget you'll receive in Mo.Co, acting as a starter kit for your hunter journey. While it lends a hand in support, other items lean more towards offensive strategies. We'll begin this Mo.Co tier list with the elite S tier and work our way down to the relatively adequate C ranks.

S Tier

Mo.Co S Tier Gadgets
Screenshot by Destructoid

Gadgets Description
Vitamin Shot Increases attack speed and heals you and your pets.
Multi Zapper Launches 12 zaps to damage a random enemy and stun non-boss monsters.

Since the Vitamin Shot helps out with healing and attacks, it may be one of the most well-rounded gadgets in Mo.Co. Its cooldown rate of 10 seconds can also go by rather quickly, giving you more opportunities to use it in battle. While the Multi-Zapper takes a bit to boot up, this gadget boasts the highest DPS in Mo.Co. Plus, it'll stun nearby monsters to help you out even more.

A Tier

A Tier Mo.Co Gadgets
Screenshot by Destructoid

Gadgets Description
Monster Taser Tases the nearest enemy and deals big damage, stunning non-boss monsters.
Pepper Spray Deals area damage multiple times and slow down non-monsters.
Snow Globe Deals area damage around you and over time across a large radius. Slows down all non-boss monsters.
Spicy Dagger Dash towards the closest enemy and deal damage, resulting in 25 percent more damage from your weapon, gadgets, passives, and pets temporarily. Non-boss monsters are also slowed down.

If you're tired of waiting for gadget cooldowns, the Monster Taser is the perfect remedy, refreshing every five seconds. Use it to inflict high amounts of damage on a monster and stun nearby enemies. All in all, the entirety of A Tier is designed for tremendous DPS rates, clearing out those pesky monsters in an instant.

B Tier

Mo.Co B Tier Gadgets
Screenshot by Destructoid

Gadgets Description
Splash Heal Instantly heals you and nearby friendly targets in a large area.
Boombox Deals area damage around you and stuns non-boss monsters.
Life Jacket Shields yourself and your pets temporarily. Deals area damage and stun non-boss monsters when it expires.
Revitalizing Mist Instantly heals you or a friendly target with the lowest health within range.
Really Cool Sticker Your weapon and pets deal extra damage for a short duration.

The B Tier Mo.Co gadgets cater to specific playstyles, particularly if you're a support-heavy hunter. Items like Splash Heal, Life Jacket, and Revitalizing Mist are excellent for these types of players; however, they aren't so great for offense. Fortunately, you can save it as a secondary gadget slot and utilize the other one for attack buffs.

The rest of the B-tier gadgets can be used by those who want to improve their offense. They won't be as powerful as the S and A Tiers, yet they do have some benefits with decent damage rates.

C Tier

C Tier Mo.Co Gadgets
Screenshot by Destructoid

Gadgets Description
Smart Fireworks Use to launch five enemy-seeking fireworks that deal area damage at a long-range.
Explosive 6-Pack Jump and drop bombs in midair to deal area damage.

Although the Smart Fireworks come in handy during the beginning stages, they won't be as helpful later on. The other gadgets are just way more robust than this item, but I still suggest using the Smart Fireworks as a starter kit and then advancing further to higher tiers. The same goes for the Explosive 6-Pack, which only has some advantages for DPS.

D Tier

Mo.Co D Tier Gadgets
Screenshot by Destructoid

Gadgets Description
Super Loud Whistle Taunts monsters to attack you and heals yourself over time.
Shelldon Summon Shelldon to fight alongside you, dealing area damage and taunting monsters to attack him. Shelldon's strong armor makes him take 50 percent less damage.

The Super Loud Whistle may be one of the worst gadgets to use in Mo.Co, especially since all surrounding monsters will start gunning for you. Despite its healing properties, opting for the Splash Heal is best. That way, you can replenish your health without any enemies coming for you.

Like the whistle, Shelldon is also relatively ineffective, as it doesn't stay too long on the battlefield. This gadget's ability to take in 50 percent less damage doesn't work all the time, so it's fairly easy for the enemy to knock it out.

GTA 6 trailer image

Something might be coming for GTA 6 on March 25 — at least if the internet's theory about Game Informer turns out to be true.

It's pretty normal at this point for GTA 6 fans to hold on to any hint of possible news, especially since it's been over a year since the game's first trailer dropped. That trailer confirmed a Fall 2025 release window and that the game would come to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar and Take-Two have also all but confirmed that a GTA 6 PC version will come later.

There's a special reason some people are sure a big reveal is coming pretty soon.

GTA 6 fans firmly believe big news is coming on March 25 with Game Informer

Game Informer, the long-running gaming magazine, is coming back on March 25. It's known for getting exclusive previews of past GTA games, including Vice City, San Andreas, GTA 4, and GTA 5. The timing of its return has people excited. The magazine shut down in August 2024, but now it's coming back — right when GTA 6 hype is building again. That's why fans think it could feature a big GTA 6 cover story as part of its comeback.

But it's important to say: this is all just fan speculation. Rockstar, Take-Two, and Game Informer haven't confirmed anything. Still, here's what the theory is about and why it's getting so much attention.

https://twitter.com/gameinformer/status/1902390690556043554

It would be a huge return for a magazine with a lot of history, and it would fit perfectly with Rockstar's slow but steady build-up. Still, Game Informer hasn't teased anything about GTA 6, and Rockstar has been pretty quiet too. The company recently launched a Discord server that includes a GTA 6 channel—but there hasn't been any real news shared there either. So, while the timing feels right, it's still just a theory.

But even if everyone is right and we get news tomorrow, we have no news about how Game Informer is returning on March 25, or if we'll only get an announcement of when their new first issue will come — if they do come back with a magazine, not with some other format like video or daily online news.

If anything is going to happen, fans believe we'll hear something in the early hours of March 25, likely in the afternoon U.S. time — similar to when Rockstar dropped the first trailer. And if Game Informer really does have something GTA 6-related planned, we can probably expect Rockstar to share extra official details around the same time.

Pokémon GO Bug Out 2025 artwork featuring Kleavor and Sizzlipede

The Bug Out event in Pokémon GO is the annual celebration of all things Bug-type, and this year sees the debut of two particularly creepy crawlies: Sizzlipede and Centiskorch. There's a lot of bug-based bonuses happening between March 26 and March 30.

I can't say I'm a particular fan of Bug-types; anything with more than four legs makes me react pretty viscerally. But there are some cute ones, and I can see the appeal of them against Grass, Dark, and Psychic-types. If you want to build an army of bug-mon, there's never a better time than during this event!

All Pokémon GO Bug Out 2025 bonuses

During the Bug Out 2025 event, which runs from 10am (local time) on March 26 to 8pm (local time) on March 30, not only will Sizzlipede and its evolution Centiskorch make their GO debut, but there will be an increased chance of encountering Shiny Wurmple and Venipede, and increased spawns for other Bug-types as well.

Themed Field, Timed, and Special Research will be available for the duration of the event, and collection challenges will also feature. Tier one and three raids will feature Bug-types, too. To put it bluntly, we're all going to be surrounded by bugs and we might as well make the most of it.

During the event, all players will be able to benefit from the following in-game bonuses:

  • 2x Catch XP for catching Pokémon with Nice or better throws
  • Increased Candy for catching Pokémon with Nice or better throws

    • One, two, and three additional Candy for Nice, Great, and Excellent respectively

  • Increased chance to receive Candy XL for catching Pokémon with Nice or better throws
  • When using a Lure Module, if enough Pokémon are caught, additional Pokémon will be lured to the PokéStop

Of course, the biggest news of this event is Sizzlipede and Centiskorch, who will begin to appear at the beginning of the event, even more likely when using a Lure Module. I'd recommend a Mossy Lure Module, for maximum Bug-type spawns!

The following Pokémon will also appear in the wild more frequently, regardless of if a Lure Module is used:

  • Caterpie
  • Weedle
  • Wurmple
  • Nincada
  • Venipede
  • Dwebble

  • Joltik
  • Grubbin
  • Cutiefly
  • Dewpider
  • Nymble

The Hideout in the morning sun

Every ninja deserves a place to build up their strength; in Assassin's Creed Shadows, that place is the Hideout's mostly optional source of additional resources, buffs, and helpful systems, so knowing what upgrades to get first is key.

The best Hideout upgrades in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Screenshot by Destructoid

Assassin's Creed Shadows has three categories of Hideout buildings: Main Rooms, Themed Rooms, and Engawa. Each category has several buildings you can install for Mon and various upgrade materials. The main rooms should be where you start, as those six will be the easiest and fastest to either build or unlock. Do the following upgrades first:

Stables level two

The level two Stables Hideout upgrade
Screenshot by Destructoid

The first purchase you'll make at the Hideou the Kakurega during the tutorial granting one Scout "for free," but the first and most important upgrade you can make after that is Stables level two. The Hideout starts with a Stables installed, so there's no upfront cost to build one, and the level two upgrade is important for a couple of reasons:

  • It costs one Scout to tag and retrieve Stockpiles instead of two.
  • Lower Stockpile retrieval cost means more materials each season, provided you raid the resource sheds scattered about the game.

Odds are you're going to do some looting around Stockpiles, which are large collections of materials marked by a wooden barrel icon on the map and HUD. Unless you're speedrunning the story, only needing to spend a single Scout to retrieve those resources lets you get more for much less effort.

Study level two

The level three Kakurega Hideout upgrade
Screenshot by Destructoid

Upgrading the Study to level two is a bit on the costlier side, but the benefits are well worth it. You get one extra Scout per level, and level one decreases the area you need to search objectives by 25%. That takes your total available Scouts to five, ensuring you have a much easier time finding any quest NPC or item you need.

You'll also be able to nab up to two extra Stockpiles, which almost pay for the upgrade by themselves. And if you run out of Scouts, just wait a little while for next season. You can even move time forward if you're outside a main story mission to expedite the process.

Kakurega level three

The level three Kakurega Hideout upgrade
Screenshot by Destructoid

Getting the Kakurega up to level three is by far the costliest upgrade I'm recommending here, but getting it done early will save you so much money in the long run. You're required to get Level one, and this awards an extra Scout (already accounted for in the Stables entry) and the ability to purchase other Kakurega out in the world for a base value of 800 Mon. These additional Kakurega provide a fast travel point outside the synchronization viewpoint, as well as access to contracts outside the Hideout.

Kakurega level two isn't amazing, helping discover points of interest near them. Level three is where the money is (or isn't, in this case). After the third upgrade, every Kakurega you purchase will cost 30% less, or 665 Mon per unit. Even if you only unlock a few of them, that 240 Mon you save can go to literally anything else.

The other Main Rooms you can do at your leisure. The Forge is incredibly valuable, as it lets you keep any Legendary gear you find at or close to your level. You'll spend a few Mon and some materials to level it up, with higher levels asking a higher price. The Dojo is last, and is more of a nice to have. It allows you to call in allies you recruit during your adventures and keep them in step with you, power-wise.

Calling in allies is a powerful tool but not nearly as useful as flat cost reductions or cost savings.

Best themed rooms to get first in Assassin's Creed Shadows

The Zashiki themed room Hideout build menu
Screenshot by Destructoid

There are nine Themed Rooms available, and while the buffs provided by some of them aren't quite as far-reaching as those of the Main Rooms, they're still worth investing in. I've listed them in the order you should unlock them, though understand that some of the best, like the Tera and Zashiki, don't unlock until you progress far enough to play as Yasuke, and many sometime after that. You can, of course, unlock them as they become available, provided you have the materials and Mon.

Room Effect
Tera Increases all experience gained by 10%.
Zashiki Increases the healing effects of rations by 20%.
Tea Room Increase the healing effects of rations by 20%.
Nando Replenishing Scouts at a Kakurega costs 30% less.
Jinja Praying grants a 15-minute boon. All shrine boon effects are 20%.
Gallery Display your gear. No other in-game effect.
Small Room Can be decorated. No other in-game effect.
Medium Room Can be decorated. No other in-game effect.
Large Room Can be decorated. No other in-game effect.

The last of the Hideout building types is the Engawa, which provides in-game effects. They're purely aesthetic, allowing you to create outdoor, covered hallways between your Main and Themed Rooms.

As with all the optional content in Assassin's Creed Shadows, the Hideout is yours to unlock or leave alone. There are tons of benefits to engaging with the system, from the extra fast travel points to additional resources and other benefits.

If you're looking to level up fast in Assassin's Creed Shadows, we've got guides for that and much more.

Naoe, Sorin, and Jinchiro looking serious

Out of all the side activities in Assassin's Creed Shadows, completing contracts is probably the most financially rewarding for its cost. These small, optional missions are a great way to fill an empty bank account or shore up resource numbers. Here's how they work.

How to unlock contracts in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Selecting a contract from the file box
Screenshot by Destructoid

To unlock contracts in Assassin's Creed Shadows, progress the story until you return to Tomiko's homestead following the prologue. From there, you need to construct the Kakurega building, which, coincidentally, is your first objective once you unlock Hideout customization. Head into the Kakurega and interact with the small filing box on the ground to choose between your first three contract options.

The Sakai Kakurega map marker
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can unlock other Kakegura buildings around larger settlements and cities once the one at your base is completed. These cost 800 Mon by default, but they are permanent upgrades. Each has its own contract file box and acts as a fast travel point. In other words, if you have the Mon to buy them, it's always a good idea to unlock a Kakegura.

How to complete contracts in Assassin's Creed Shadows

The quest complete screen after completing a contract
Screenshot by Destructoid

Completing contracts is always fairly straightforward, though you can only have three active at a time per region. Their objectives come in a few varieties, including:

  • Steal loot from an encampment, rewarding EXP and Hideout materials
  • Kill specific enemies, awarding EXP and Mon
  • Destroy a target, awarding EXP and gear crafting materials

Once you accept a contract, its quest marker will appear on the map, and you can track it like any other mission. You can track them from the contracts menu you access via the file box, but you cannot access it from the Objectives menu.

A loot supplies contract map marker

Contracts will almost always take you to otherwise unmarked locations or those too small and remote to warrant even a question mark on your map. They're almost always minor enemy encampments with a few rank-and-file soldiers plus an elite leader. These enemies get tougher the farther you progress in the game.

Note that you don't have to clear out every enemy to complete a contract unless the objective specifically directs you to do so. For supply gathering and target destruction contracts, for instance, you can run in, do what you need, and get out. There is no penalty for breaking stealth, taking damage, etc. So long as you loot the container or interact enough to destroy the target, you'll get the Mission Complete pop-up and rewards.

I'd always suggest having a full complement of contracts active, even if they aren't your main objective. You might pass by one on your way, and they never take much more than a few minutes to complete. And besides, getting side-tracked is a part of the open-world experience, so why not indulge a bit?

Oda Nobunaga and Yasuka on horses next to marching armies

In the lead-up to the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows, there was a modest amount of noise made about how it was Steam Deck Verified. That means it was more than playable on Valve's handheld, but now that Shadows is out, how does it actually run?

Assassin's Creed Shadows Steam Deck performance

  • The Assassin's Creed Shadows Osaka Japan skyline at dusk on PC
  • The Assassin's Creed Shadows Osaka Japan skyline at dusk on the Steam Deck

While Assassin's Creed Shadows is Deck Verified, it doesn't run flawlessly out the gate. I have a Steam Deck OLED, and when I first loaded into the game, it was chugging. Fine-tuning the settings, however, did wonders. I found that I could run the game at a mostly steady 30 FPS in most situations with a few alterations, which you can see in the above screenshot taken at the peak of Osaka Castle. Higher volumes of physics objects or other one-screen data still caused some hitching now and again.

Here's one of the main issues, though. The Steam Deck version of AC Shadows has a very limited selection of graphics settings, a grand departure from other Verified games. You cannot adjust individual image quality settings like textures, shadows, volumetrics, reflections, or other bandwidth-hungry aspects.

Instead, you're limited to a few resolution, upscaling, and field of view settings. These restrictions aren't a huge hindrance, as the game is optimized enough for the Deck's hardware that you shouldn't need to adjust much, but that you're not allowed to at all is surprising.

Additionally (and though this isn't a "performance" issue), the game is locked behind Ubisoft Connect, even on the Deck. After downloading AC Shadows, you can't start the game until you use the clunky Deck keypad (or linked keyboard) to enter your Ubisoft account information. A mild inconvenience, sure, but one that immediately and permanently soured me on the handheld experience, but just a little.

How to get better performance in Assassin's Creed Shadows on the Steam Deck

The Assasin's Creed Shadows graphics settings on Steam Deck
Screenshot by Destructoid

Assassin's Creed Shadows might not have many levers to pull to increase performance, but what's here is serviceable. To start, here are the settings I ended up using on my OLED Deck for a stable, if a bit sluggish, experience:

  • Field of View: 88%
  • Raytraced Global Illumination: Diffuse Hideout Only
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • VSync: On
  • Resolution: 1280x720
  • Upscaler Type: TAA
  • Minimum Dynamic Resolution: 20%
  • Maximum Dynamic Resolution: 50%
  • Sharpen Strength: 0.65
  • Frame Generation: Off

Frame Generation is available on the Deck version of AC Shadows, but it trades a massive image quality hit for ten FPS gain on average. The amount of aliasing and distortion was too much of a sacrifice in my book. I'm using TAA over FSR as the image quality is better with TAA, especially for rain and other environmental effects.

Lastly, I find that setting a 30 FPS framerate cap using the Deck's Performance settings helps get a bit more performance. I know that bit of advice is like hearing a broken record, but it's made my experience better nonetheless. Should you be in the market for an in-game improvement to your day, check out our guide on adopting pets in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Two characters attacking each other with swords and axe in Khazan

Souls-like games are always popular if done correctly, and a new one with an anime theme is already a top seller a few days before coming out.

Steam's global top sellers list organizes games by total revenue over a given week. Sous-like hits like Elden Ring and Black Myth: Wukong are often in the top 100, sometimes due to sales propelling them up and other times simply because fans people keep coming back to them. They rank highly in revenue despite fighting big free-to-play games filled with microtransactions, like Apex Legends and Counter-Strike 2.

Now, this new game is already joining the ranks of these classic souls-likes.

The First Berserker: Khazan is one of the most sold games on Steam today

As of March 24, The First Berserker: Khazan is ranked fifth on Steam's Global Top Sellers list, just below the Steam Deck and ahead of the co-op hit Split Fiction. It's also beating every other souls-like game in the platform.

The game is part of the Dungeon & Fighter universe (also known as DNF) and takes place 800 years prior to the events in the first release of the game series, Dungeon Fighter Online. It's a 3D-action RPG with anime art and the usual dark style of souls-like games.

Steam's Global Top Sellers list on March 24.
Screenshot by Destructoid.

The game releases in Steam's Advanced Access—not to be confused with early access—on March 24, with its complete release coming on March 27. Advanced access simply means people who paid more for the game, usually a deluxe edition of some sorts, get to play it a few days before anyone else. It's not a development method like early access, and games in advanced access are ready to play and fully developed, but paywalled for players who paid more than the rest.

The game released to a score of 80 on Metacritic, with positive early reviews from players on Steam. While these are great numbers, they aren't even close to the 97-percent positive reviews that Sledders had on launch.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Yasuke

Yasuke is one of the two playable protagonists in Assassin's Creed Shadows alongside Naoe. While you don't get to play as Yasuke until midway through the game, he is still a fully fleshed-out character and you're able to acquire Mastery Skills for him.

Of course, Yasuke's Mastery Skills are a little different than Naoe's, so here are the best skills to target first.

Best Mastery Skills for Yasuke in Assassin's Creed Shadows

Yasuke is quite different from Naoe in Assassin's Creed Shadows. He doesn't have too many assassin-like qualities, but he can wield a variety of different ranged weapons and has access to other powerful skills that utilize his brute strength.

Since his Mastery Skills are so much different from Naoe's, it can be tough to know which are best. Fortunately, we have selected seven Mastery Skills for Yasuke that you should unlock before any others. The skills are in no particular order.

Brutal Assassination (Samurai)

Brutal Assassination offers Yasuke a way to assassinate enemies just like Naoe. Screenshot by Destructoid

One of the major downsides to Yasuke when you first start playing as him in Shadows is that he can't assassinate opponents. While this doesn't play too big of a factor since Yasuke is so strong, you'll often miss the ability to deal with an enemy quickly. Fortunately, the Brutal Assassination Mastery Skill offers the chance to make Yasuke a little more like Naoe.

The skill is used in the same way as Naoe's assassination attempts. You just press the dedicated button when you're near an enemy. Assassinations aren't guaranteed to kill enemies, but they remove health segments if you can't get a full kill. You can upgrade the Brutal Assassination down the line to remove more health segments and allow Yasuke to assassinate enemies from different angles.

Regeneration (Samurai)

Regeneration is a powerful passive skill that can save you health and rations. Screenshot by Destructoid

Next up is another Mastery Skill from Yasuke's Samurai tree, Regeneration. This is a passive skill that simply allows Yasuke to regenerate health after killing an enemy. While Yasuke has a much higher tolerance for damage than Naoe, you still need to watch out for enemy attacks and keep an eye on your health bar.

Unlocking the Regeneration skill allows you to save rations as Yasuke with free heals. It's not the flashiest skill in Shadows, but it does give you the chance to be even more lethal with Yasuke as he's obliterating every enemy in sight.

Marksman's Shot (Bow)

The bow is an even stronger weapon when you equip it with the right skills. Screenshot by Destructoid

One of the benefits of playing as Yasuke in Shadows is that he has access to some new ranged weapons that Naoe can't use. The bow is one of those ranged weapons and it can be a great tool to take out enemies silently or deal massive damage to enemies that aren't within melee striking distance. To improve the bow's effectiveness, you can unlock the Marksman's Shot skill, which rewards you with a second arrow after hitting a headshot with a Posture Shot.

The second arrow can be activated by clicking the fire button again and allows you to deal more damage at no extra cost. You can chain these headshots together to continually fire off arrows at your helpless enemies.

Clear Mind (Bow)

Clear Mind is a great skill for the bow and allows you to easily hit headshots. Screenshot by Destructoid

We're staying in the bow skill tree and unlocking the Clear Mind skill next. This is a classic Assassin's Creed skill for the bow and Yasuke can utilize it well in Shadows. The skill allows you to slow down time for 10 seconds while aiming with the bow. This gives you extra time to line up a precise headshot and maximize damage to an enemy.

You can only use this skill sparingly, so you want to utilize it properly when you have the chance. Use Clear Mind when you know you need to hit a headshot or you're dealing with a strong enemy who you have some distance on.

Riposte (Long Katana)

Riposte is one of the best early Long Katana skills for Yasuke. Screenshot by Destructoid

From the get-go with Yasuke, you don't have access to a ton of Mastery Skills in the Long Katana tree. One you want to ensure you unlock, though, is called Riposte. This skill allows you to hold and release the parry keybind after blocking an enemy's attack to immediately perform a counterattack. Riposte can deal some serious free damage onto an enemy and you're able to chain it together to essentially never get hit and continually deal damage without pressing the attack button.

Steady Hand (Teppo)

The Teppo is a powerful ranged weapon with access to plenty of good skills, like Steady Hand. Screenshot by Destructoid

The Teppo is the other ranged weapon that Yasuke can equip in Shadows alongside the bow. While it takes longer to load and shoot, the teppo is a terrific long-range weapon that can kill enemies with a single headshot and take off a chunk of an enemy's armor (yellow health bar). You have access to a basic teppo skill right off the bat, and you can also pair it with the Steady Hand passive skill.

Steady Hand allows you to remain perfectly still when aiming and zoom in more on an enemy. If you hit an enemy while Steady Hand is active, you deal an increased 10% damage. You don't normally want to stay perfectly still in combat, so this skill is better when you're not near a group of enemies.

Link Attack allows you to use both of Yasuke's weapons during one combat encounter. Screenshot by Destructoid

Finally, rounding out the list is another Samurai Mastery Skill called Link Attack. Link Attack allows Yasuke to swap between his primary and secondary weapons during an attack combo. The way it works is you initially attack with your currently equipped weapon and then during a combo, you press the weapon swap button to quickly transition to your alternate weapon. With your alternate weapon, you extend the combo and deal more damage to an enemy.

For this to work, you'll need two melee-focused weapons equipped. If you have a ranged weapon equipped, it's more difficult to pull off a quick attack, as you have to aim with it. Equipping a long katana and another melee weapon is the best way to make full use of the Link Attack skill.

And that wraps up our list of the best Mastery Skills to target first with Yasuke in Assassin's Creed Shadows. He's a powerful samurai by default, but these skills make you even tougher to defeat while playing as him.

Atomfall promotional image of a soldier

Atomfall's skills can drastically change how you play, especially if you invest your points into a particular path. If you like being stealthy, there are several options for you. If you're more interested in running into groups while swinging a baseball bat around, you'll have plenty of choices there, too.

However, there's more to Atomfall's skills than just gaining experience points and advancing down a skill tree. You'll need to pick up Training Stimulants and Manuals to unlock new abilities, forcing you to be selective with your choices throughout your playthrough.

How to unlock skills in Atomfall

After completing Atomfall's tutorial, you'll find your skill menu by opening your backpack and scrolling over to Skills. At first, you'll only have three skills available in four skill trees—Ranged Combat, Melee Combat, Survival, and Conditioning—but you'll unlock more using Training Manuals.

Atomfall Skill list
Screenshot by Destructoid

There's a catch, though. Rather than using a standard EXP and skill progression system, you'll instead need Training Stimulants. While some skills require only one, others use up to five or six, making these a necessary resource to look out for as you explore the world.

How to find Training Stimulants in Atomfall

Atomfall Training Stimulant
Screenshot by Destructoid

You'll find Training Stimulants as you explore Atomfall and complete its quests. While some are available in crates within various POIs, others will sit right on countertops in regions like Wyndham Village and Slatten Dale. More often than not, you'll find them accidentally as you progress through the main story or as rewards for completing Lead objectives.

How to find Training Manuals in Atomfall

The second part of upgrading your skills is obtaining Training Manuals. Training Manuals are the key to unlocking specialized skills beyond your starting 12. Since they're specialized, you'll find manuals ranging from Stealth to Crafting and Firearms Mastery books.

Atomfall Stealth manual in Molly's shop
Screenshot by Destructoid

Every book has unique spawn locations, from being available to purchase from merchants to sitting on top of crates in random caves. Others—like the Crafting Manual—are only accessible if you pick the correct dialogue in quest conversations or eliminate NPCs that hold them.

Best skills to unlock in Atomfall

Atomfall has 36 skills to invest in, many of which are locked behind Training Manuals. That said, here are some of the best you can unlock early on:

  • Disarm Traps
  • Charisma
  • Deep Pockets
  • Gunsmith

Generally speaking, early-game Survival skills are your best bet initially, as they let you disarm traps around the map, improve your selling prices with merchants, and let you upgrade your guns. Deep Pockets also increases your crafting material and ammo carrying capacity, making it an all-around helpful buff. However, Deep Pockets and Gunsmith requires obtaining the Crafting training manual from Morris Wick in Wyndham Village during the St. Catherine's Church questline.

Beyond this, the skills you unlock will depend entirely on your preferred playstyle. You can purchase a Stealth Training Manual from Molly Jowett in Slatten Dale, unlocking skills that reduce the noise of your footsteps and takedowns alongside inflicting more damage with stealth kills. Similarly, if you prefer melee combat above all else, you'll have three melee options to pick from initially, with Thick Skin being a beneficial perk.
