PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 4:02 PM For as compelling as more realistic, tactics-heavy shooters can be, there's always going to be room for FPS games that lean into absurdity in order to offer the most propulsive action possible. The latter approach might not provide the sense of mortal danger as something like Arma 3 or Ready or Not, but sprinting across battlefields at superhuman speeds to blast apart monstrous enemies in throwback shooters like Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Dusk, Ultrakill, or Prodeus, is also a pretty good time. That's part of the reason it's worth paying attention to Project Warlock 2, a Quake and Hexen influenced project that's just hit 1.0 on Steam. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 2:13 PM It's a bit surprising that we haven't seen more projects that put together two genres as massively popular as deckbuilders and strategy games. The former style of design has given us everything from Monster Train 2 to Slay the Spire while the latter includes Against the Storm, Total War: Pharaoh, Age of Empires 4, and so much more. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 1:22 PM It's been said before, but there just aren't enough dinosaurs in videogames these days. The opportunities to hang out with extinct prehistoric beasts are few and far between, relegated to the occasional highlight of games like Jurassic World Evolution 2, Ark Survival Evolved, Dino Trauma, or The Isle. Fortunately, there's now Ferocious, a new FPS and survival game hybrid in this should-be-flourishing subgenre, and it's currently holding a public playtest on Steam, so you can try it for yourself right now. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 12:42 PM If you love the likes of Hades but also enjoy co-op, there have been some great options in the past year. Currently, my 2025 frontrunner is Sworn, an Arthurian spin on the action roguelike. But Ravenswatch was the big winner for me in 2024. Already a fantastic action RPG when played alone, the dark fantasy adventure with a fairy-tale cast gets even better if you bring another player along for the ride, and that's more true than ever with the release of its new, free DLC. With two more characters joining the roster and a Steam sale discount to match, it's a great time to play. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Best co-op games, Best RPG games, Best roguelike games |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 12:32 PM It seemed like videogames had reached a zombie saturation point about a decade ago. The popularity of Telltale's The Walking Dead, Dying Light, Dead Island, Left 4 Dead 2, and Killing Floor 2 appeared to have reached a height that the horror subgenre would never return to going forward. This isn't the case anymore, with recent games like the zombie infested, This War of Mine-inspired Into the Dead garnering plenty of interest on Steam, something that doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon thanks to the game's first big update since launch. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 12:30 PM The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 might not officially even exist as yet, but that hasn't stopped rumors swirling, and now Acer has seemingly just lifted the lid on some of the specs, including the clock speeds. In this case, we're talking about the laptop version of the GPU, which looks as though it's going to be clocked significantly higher than the RTX 5060 and 5070. There are also rumors about a desktop Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 as well, of course, but Acer has only spilled the beans on the laptop model here. The desktop chip is rumored to have 2,560 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM, and the laptop version is likely to be less powerful. However, it looks as though Nvidia is making up some ground on the specs by upping the clock speed. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Acer Nitro V 15 review, Acer Predator Orion 5000 review, Best gaming monitor |

Games like Left 4 Dead, Borderlands, and Helldivers 2 are all well aware of the fact that squadding up with buddies to mow down countless opponents is half the fun, but I want more. Well, Deadzone: Rogue is here to answer the call. After launching in April to an 82% Steam rating from more than 3,500 user reviews, the game's demo is back. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 12:14 PM Even after 12 years of Project Zomboid, we don't know very much at all about the world beyond Knox Country. Pay close attention to the radio and TV broadcasts, and it sounds like the undead plague has spread across the entire planet. But with all communications off air before mid July, and then the inevitable power cuts, it's impossible to truly understand just how screwed the final, spiked-bat-wielding survivors truly are. With The Indie Stone still hard at work on the unstable iteration of build 42, and new, official updates that include ragdoll physics and an improved camera, a gigantic Project Zomboid mod casts an eye away from Knox and over to France. Essentially an unofficial PZ spin-off, unfortunately, the situation in Europe is just as bleak. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Best indie games, Best survival games, Best zombie games |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 12:29 PM When is the Elden Ring Nightreign release date? Your time in the Lands Between isn't over just yet, Tarnished. Or should that be Nightfarer? This standalone multiplayer game is the closest FromSoftware fans can get to an official Elden Ring co-op mode, and we couldn't be more excited to get stuck into some jolly cooperation. Elden Ring Nightreign is set in a parallel universe to that of the soulslike game we all know and love, paving the way for new possibilities. As our Elden Ring Nightreign review attests, this co-op adventure shrinks the boundaries of Elden Ring's open world to a procedurally generated "open-air dungeon" populated with random enemies, locations, and even surprise cameos pulled from other FromSoftware titles. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 11:12 AM Corsair has updated its mini gaming PC lineup with a new model that squeezes a pair of 240mm AIO coolers into its tiny chassis. This gives the new Corsair One i600 a significant advantage over the i500, which only had a 120mm AIO cooler to keep its CPU in check, meaning both the CPU and GPU are liquid cooled, despite the tight confines of the chassis. We're not just talking about a low-end CPU or GPU either – this new mini gaming PC comes with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, which has 24 cores, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080, the best graphics card in its league, meaning this rig has plenty of gaming power on tap. Proving that you don't lose much by going for a small PC these days, the Corsair One i600 also comes with a massive 64GB of DDR5 RAM in its top configuration, as well as a pair of 2TB NVMe SSDs, giving you 4TB of high-speed storage. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 11:00 AM Tweaked, balanced, and perpetually adjusted, Counter-Strike 2 feels as much like an instrument, or a piece of fine glassware, than it does an FPS game. If Valve alters one little value over here, it tips the scale and upsets the tuning all the way over there. But there was a time when Counter-Strike was rougher, readier, and more reckless, when you could pick a gun and sprint into battle without having to compare damage values per second, or pay close attention to the minutiae of level geometry. Multiplayer shooters have become either painstakingly complex ballroom dances, or, in cases like Escape From Tarkov and Gray Zone Warfare, punishing pseudo simulators. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 28, 2025 11:00 AM Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess was my 2024 game of the year. Sure, there was Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and even Balatro, but Capcom's bizarre tower defense action game hybrid was something new. Developed by Capcom Division 1, the team behind one of my all-time favorite series, Devil May Cry, it's faithfulness to Japanese culture and highly stylized demonic Seethe make it gorgeous to look at, while its hard-as-nails strategy gameplay and slick, almost dance-like combat make it hard but not overly punishing. Since this is a monster we first encounter early in the game and it's only HR 16, I think it should be fairly manageable. Especially since it is designated as a four-star difficulty level assignment.
Upon beating the quest, you'll get the materials needed to head to Gemma and make Faux Felyne α headgear, which makes you look like a Monster Hunter Wilds Palico. Capcom didn't note how many times we might need to beat the Event Quest in order to get enough for one. It did share one example photo, however, which shows the more traditional appearance of the cat-like creature, which looks like a Siamese cat with blue eyes.
There are two other Event Quests starting at the same time as "Three Tails Better Than None." However, neither of them involve a special cosmetic item. They will be more challenging than the Faux Felyne headgear assignment. Both are five-star difficulty missions and require HR 21. Anguish and Atrocity is a Guardian Doshaguma quest at Ruins of Wyveria for Hunter Rank Points. "Tongue-Tied" is a Tempered Chatacabra hunt at Windward Plains for Advanced Armor Spheres and Hard Armor Spheres.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Faux Felyne headgear Event Quest that lets us make gear that look like a Palico head will debut on June 3, 2025.

Frontwing and Bushiroad will release the PC visual novel Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka worldwide on May 29, 2025, however those getting game from Steam will need to download an optional Expansion Patch for the full experience. Ahead of its official debut, the official site offered access to the update, explained the situation, and made it available via Google Drive.
Frontwing and Bushiroad cited "relevant ethical standards worldwide" as the reasons behind the Expansion Patch release, and the two companies specifically referenced the Steam version as the PC storefront that would need it. It didn't explain what changes might be present. It only noted that the "complete story" is available when it is applied. It also noted the patch is in an .exe file that will apply it after being run. The "mature content" warning on Steam specifically cited "very strong violence" and "blood," so it is possible that this patch exists due to the brutal situations depicted in the story.
Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka is a kinetic visual novel, which means there are no choices and only one route to follow. It also seems it will be something of a tragedy, as it follows young Maledict Exorcists dealing with malevolent entities for the sake of the innocent. Sai Tachibana happens upon the cursed Matsuri Benio and finds himself falling in love with her. However, her past haunts her and her present involves working to fight Maledicts with her "gift." As a result, he finds himself becoming closer to a number of individuals like her and himself living at Maisoncycle sans Nom.
Here is the opening movie, which shows off the characters and setting:
Perenial Dusk: Kinsenka will come to the PC on May 29, 2025, and the patch for the Steam version is live via the official site now.

Hanako Games announced Galaxy Princess Zorana, a sequel to the life sim game Long Live the Queen. A project to fund it is currently on Kickstarter, with the campaign live until June 26, 2025. As of time of writing, it surpassed the $10,000 goal and reached over $15,100. The Steam page is also live.
Like the original Long Live the Queen, which was an incredibly difficult life sim that involved keeping a young princess turned queen alive long enough to rule her kingdom, the sequel game Galaxy Princess Zorana follows a new ruler coming into her own after her Celestial Emperor father dies. Zorana needs to learn about her past, handle her schedule, grow stronger in important stats, deal with advisors, mystics, and rivals, and hopefully survive. As in the original, our decisions as players shape the heroine. This means her personality changes and she may end up being good or evil.
Here's the first trailer for the game:
The minimum pledge amount to get a copy of the game is £16 (~$22). Until May 29, 2025, there is also a £16 (~$22) beta early bird tier that gives people access to the beta, the full game, and their name in the credits for contributing. After that 24-hour period, the beta tester tier that includes access and the game is £20 (~$27). The most expensive tier at time of writing is the £60 (~$81) one, of which 75 are available, that includes access to the game and its beta, a digital costume book, a charm of Zorana, and a signed thank you from Hanako Games' Georgina Bensley.
Hanako Games already discussed stretch goals for Galaxy Princess Zorana as well. The first Fancy Planets £9,000 tier, which ended up being cleared, will update the appearance of the planets on the star map. At £14,000 (~$18,860), there will be art for every romance outcome scene. The £18,000 (~$24,250) stretch goal involves a new route in which Zorana rebels and doesn't become an empress. The final £30,000 (~$40,420) one involves more alien species being in the game.
Galaxy Princess Zorana is in development for PCs and is expected to release in 2025. The Kickstarter for it ends on June 26, 2025. The original Long Live the Queen game appeared on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Sunblink announced a returning Under the Sea Celebration event for all versions of Hello Kitty Island Adventure, as well as update 2.6 for the Apple Arcade version of the game. The aquatic event starts tomorrow on May 29, 2025. Meanwhile, 2.6 is on mobile devices now ahead of an imminent release on the Switch and PC. There is also a trailer going over the update.
The Under the Sea Celebration in Hello Kitty Island Adventure follows the Month of Meh event. It's another one of those activities that involves collecting a certain type of item to turn in for cosmetics. In this case, it's Mermaid Scales. As such, getting access to the mermaid clothes so you can go underwater ahead of taking part can be wise. However, it isn't necessary since the scale are found in the Seaside Resort beaches and the area to turn them in is in the Resort Plaza hub. The 2025 cosmetics include scuba gear, which will be shown in the trailer for the event.
As for the 2.6 update for Hello Kitty Island Adventure, it involves Big Challenges and Icy Peak. It looks like a roller coaster is about to open on the top of the mountain. However, it also seems new additions are coming to Wish Me Mell's meadow and Usahana's City Town sections too. New dancing options seem to be available in this update. We seem to get to go to a performance hall, once it is built, too.
You can see "The Biggest Challenge" 2.6 additions in the video below:
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available for the Switch, PC, and iOS devices via Apple Arcade. PS4 and PS5 versions are on the way, though there's no exact release date for them yet.

The company has been making gradual reveals on a daily basis via its official social media account. Naked Snake was the first one announced on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Kaiyodo then followed through by announcing The Boss' action figure on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Ocelot also followed suit the following day. He became the most recent character figure announced as of Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
Kaiyodo will base all the action figures announced above on the new character models Konami is making for Metal Gear Solid Delta, which is a remake of the 2004 PS2 game Metal Gear Solid 3. Kaiyodo has yet to provide any launch windows for these action figures, as Konami will only release the new remake in late August 2025.
Metal Gear Solid is not the only game franchise that gets new Revoltech action figures. Sanrio announced on social media and its official site that there will be a Sanrio characters ANA collection of merchandise tied to five popular mascots. Six different types of items will be sold. It will only be found at Japanese airports starting on June 2, 2025, with the ANA FESTA stores often being the most common and reliable means of finding items in the collection.
First, here's the official pieces of art released alongside the Sanrio ANA collection that shows all the characters in different uniforms employees at the airline wear. Cinnamoroll, a dog known for being able to fly, is the pilot in this set. Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and My Melody are all dressed in ANA flight attendant uniforms. Meanwhile, Hangyodon is a part of the ground crew and is wearing that one-piece uniform.
This is how everyone will look:

As for the Sanrio ANA merchandise, we won't get to pick up any plush of the characters in these costumes, but the planes will show up alongside mascots in the items that do appear. All of them are relatively small, making it easy to buy one or two and fit them into carry-on luggage. They're also relatively affordable, ranging in price from 605円 (~$4) to 1,210円 (~$8).
Here's a full list of items in the collection:

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company International announced the next Pokemon Presents showcase that will go over new games, but we won't see it for about two months. It will air on July 22, 2025. There's no exact time for it or placeholder yet, but it will appear on YouTube like past presentations.
A major focus in this stream will likely be Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Nintendo shared the October 2025 release date for it on May 28, 2025, and it being closer to the actual launch day probably means new gameplay footage and reveals. We'll likely see a lot more to do with the upcoming Pokemon Champions title as well. It is possible that the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet mainline installment will debut during this presentation for the first time too.
These Pokemon Presents streams also involve announcements for ongoing games based on the series, as we saw with the Pokemon Day entry in February 2025, so this one should offer a number of announcements tied to the mobile games. Pokemon Unite, Pokemon GO, and Pokemon Cafe Remix updates often come up, and those often involve new characters coming to the game. We also sometimes learn about what is on the way for titles like Pokemon Sleep and Pokemon Masters EX, though the other games feature more prominently. Now that Pokemon TCG Pocket is also live and active, it's likely a new expansion for that mobile game could show up during the event.
The next Pokemon Presents showcase will go over upcoming games and announcements for existing titles on July 22, 2025.

Yuri Lowenthal took to Bluesky to discuss the possibility of him playing Yosuke Hanamura in a possible Persona 4 remake. He definitively said it won't happen. He also said, "…They don't want me to come back." He voiced the character since the original game, which debuted in 2008.
Here is a screenshot of Lowenthal's statement on Bluesky. In it, he addressed the fact that multiple people apparently brought up the question. He also referenced a possible Persona 4 remake, though Atlus hasn't announced any revival project for that entry.
![]()
Yuri Lowenthal has been the English voice actor for Yosuke for multiple Persona 4 projects and general Persona games. In addition to playing the character in the original game and Golden update, he also played the role in spin-offs like Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4: Dancing All Night.
If a Persona 4 remake did happen, it wouldn't be unprecedented for Atlus to go with an actor other than Yuri Lowenthal to play Yosuke. When the company made the Persona 3 Reload remake, it went with an entirely new English cast.
Persona 4 is available on the PS2, and Persona 4 Golden showed up on the Switch, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Atlus hasn't announced a remake of it, but did release a remake of Persona 3 in 2024.

Every passing year, Disney Dreamlight Valley introduces new and returning events to keep things fresh between major content updates. While Gameloft released the first version of the Dreamlight Parks Fest event in 2024, its 2025 edition has a secret feature that makes it easier to complete than usual: the Uncrafting Station.
During the May Curiosity and Chaos update, the Disney Dreamlight Valley community got the chance to unlock Alice and the Cheshire Cat as villagers. During one of the Cheshire Cat's friendship quests, you're tasked with creating an Uncrafting Station that exchanges Dreamlight for raw materials required to make an item. It'll break down any furniture or small objects you insert into it and, after a short delay, return 100 percent of its resources to you.
![]()
Guess what? You can use this on event items, too. If you participated in Dreamlight Parks Fest 2024 and crafted all five popcorn buckets for it, you can toss them into the Uncrafting Station and receive their buttons. That way, you can recraft the bucket and turn it into your event quests to receive their newly added handheld versions.
It takes around six minutes to uncraft each bucket, with three slots available at one time. If you have five on hand, you'll only need around 10 to 15 minutes and a few thousand Dreamlight to complete them all. I'd say that's a solid deal for eliminating hours of button collecting.
But this feature only works if you participated in last year's Dreamlight Parks event and have all five of its popcorn buckets available. If you weren't there for it or didn't make all five buckets, you'll have to partake in the usual grind of fishing, gathering flowers, and crafting to obtain the hundreds of buttons required to make each bucket.
At the time of writing, it's unknown whether this is an intended feature on Gameloft's part to let the community break down old event items and reuse them to skip most of the button-collecting process. Sure, you'll still need to find extras for the Dug and Mine Cart popcorn buckets, but at least you'll only have to focus on two instead of seven. Either way, I'm not complaining.
Disney Dreamlight Valley's Dreamlight Parks event is running from May 28 to June 17, giving you three weeks to uncraft your popcorn buckets, collect extra buttons for the Dug and Mine Cart buckets, and collect every available reward.

I've been playing FromSoftware games since the original Dark Souls, which is now somehow almost 14 years old. The game that created an entire sub-genre following in the footsteps of 2009's Demon's Souls was the start of something very special.
It feels like Elden Ring: Nightreign is the next step of the journey that began all those years ago, as FromSoftware has taken its punishing combat and open-world gameplay and combined it with a co-op emphasis and different mechanics of other genres to create something unique and extravagant, although not quite perfect.
Dying is better with friends
![]()
FromSoft's co-op has always been a nagging point for me. It's never been simple, never easy, and I've always wanted more from it. Nightreign isn't the endpoint of Soulslike co-ops, but it shows what the developer is truly capable of. Alongside the upcoming Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods, FromSoft is flexing the future of what its games will look like, so don't be surprised if the next big Dark Souls or Elden Ring game features seamless co-op from beginning to end as an option.
While multiplayer has felt like an accessory in the studio's previous titles, Nightreign is definitely meant to be played in co-op. You can also play solo, but it feels exceedingly difficult and almost like it's missing the point of the game. There's fun to be had and it's possible to do, but this is an experience that's way better with friends or strong allies met in random matchmaking.
Because of this, one of the game's most egregious and glaring negatives is the lack of crossplay between platforms (PC, Xbox, and PlayStation). This feels like a huge oversight in 2025, where the feature has become commonplace. So if you can, make sure your friends all have it on the same platform (teams of three only, no duos at launch, unfortunately). Figuring out this core multiplayer feature in 2025 is FromSoft's final boss, and once it's conquered, we are truly in for some fun.
Having said that, I'm thrilled to say that Nightreign is a fantastic experience if only because it's more Elden Ring, but with a co-op twist that takes inspiration from roguelikes and battle royale to craft an addicting, satisfying experience that's also not for the faint of heart, as is the studio's M.O.
![]()
Even without crossplay, fighting Elden Ring's terrifying boss battles with friends has never been easier than in this new experience, where teams of three drop into an evolving version of the base game's Limgrave map. It's called Limveld, and it's being taken over by the night.
Nightreign features eight playable characters at launch, all with their own unique abilities and backstories. Each expedition starts with players selecting their character, all of whom can be upgraded over time with itemized buffs called Relics, in an ever-changing adventure, effortlessly capturing the allure of battle royale and roguelike games.
Prepare to die and run like hell
![]()
When you begin your adventure, you will die. You will die a lot. But with each expedition, you learn more about the map, the game's characters and mechanics, and find and earn items that help make everything a bit easier.
Every match of Nightreign takes place over the course of three in-game days (about 15 minutes each). Drop in, plot a course on the map, and start killing enemies to level up as much and as fast as you can, because a storm circle is closing in. When the circle closes and concludes each day, a boss fight will occur against a variety of enemies from the base game, and other previous FromSoft games, too, which always makes for a nice surprise when you see an old foe who tormented you in previous titles.
Survive the first night and get ready to do it all again the next day. Survive a second major boss fight and then get ready for a bigger battler against a new, powerful endgame boss called a Night Lord, where success means big rewards and progression for your character and their story.
The roguelike elements of Nightreign combine with traditional BR mechanics in that you land at level one with your own character and base weapon and go from there. It's all about speed in Nightreign—kill quick, loot quick, and move quick as the circle encroaches, all while dealing with Elden Ring's classically challenging enemies. It's incredibly fun, and sometimes frustrating, but always interesting with a group of friends. The map is littered with optional bosses and other points of interest that drop big buffs and high-tier loot, and taking them down is a huge help when it comes to accomplishing your goals.
![]()
The loot on the map has rarities and randomized abilities, as you may expect, and just about every powerful weapon from Elden Ring can be found there. My first random legendary weapon I found was Devourer's Scepter, but it's all here: Sword of Night and Flame, Dark Moon Greatsword, all of it, and each run shapes how you play, depending on what you get.
Like other games with random loot drops, some runs will feel magical as it all comes together. During the review period, this happened for me once after I luckily found Rivers of Blood and Moonveil and dual-wielded them to a hard-fought, well-earned victory over a tough boss. In other games, I found nothing and struggled. Welcome to Elden Ring.
A world worth living (and dying) in
![]()
As you play through Nightreign, you progress your characters and their storylines by beating bosses, completing expeditions, and surviving three nights. The better you do, the more currency and Relics you unlock, thus furthering your chances for success.
At a base level, each hero has low HP, mana, and stamina. Leveling up is a necessity, as you won't stand a chance against many enemies. Dying means losing a level and your stats gained, but you can be revived by teammates who hilariously have to beat you up with their own weapons to revive you. This can be frustrating with occasional desync and lag while in co-op, only adding to the sweaty experience.
In the review period, I had several matches that felt doomed after dying early on. But we pushed on, found a way to survive after some clutch revives, and ended up somehow defeating the bosses presented against us. This is where the game truly shines, and its replay value is immense.
That feeling of frustration followed by accomplishment, relief, and satisfaction after tackling a difficult boss has been around since Demon's Souls. It still feels amazing, and now you can experience it with pals as a pre-made team in bite-sized experiences, marking what feels like it could be a true turning point for FromSoft into a new era.
