Geekom AX8 Pro Review: an incredibly compact yet capable mini PC

Long gone are the days when a high performance PC required a massive beige case to sit on your desk. This Geekom AX8 Pro shows that the future is small, or in this case, tiny – this mini PC is one of the smallest you can buy right now, small enough to fit in your hand at just 4.3-inches wide.

While this top-end Geekom mini PC is small, it's mighty in performance, with the AX8 Pro offering components that make it a great option for daily use. It's an all AMD affair – the eight-core AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS that powers it is formidable, and while the integrated AMD Radeon 780M GPU won't be competing with the best gaming PCs out there, it can still handle some modern games at 1080p, as long you choose them carefully.

Everything about the AX8 Pro feels high end, from the box it shipped in to the all metal chassis to the impressive performance. I could genuinely see myself using it on a day-to-day basis as a full replacement for my desktop PC, but it's important to recognize its limitations: this is a daily driver, all-use mini PC, and not one that's built specifically for gaming.

With that in mind, I tested the Geekom AX8 Pro out for a few days, seeing how well it performed in general use as both a work and gaming PC.

FF14 server status and maintenance times - is FFXIV down?

November 22, 2024: The FF14 server status has been checked and updated. Maintenance has been announced.

Is FF14 down? It might be due to ongoing maintenance or server issues if you can't log on to FF14 or access your character. Before worrying about any problems with your game, you'll want to check the FF14 server status and currently scheduled maintenance times below to see if the MMO is offline.

If you can't log into FF14, it's typically because of planned maintenance. The critically acclaimed MMORPG occasionally schedules downtime to implement patches, updates, and other hotfixes or to perform maintenance on the game's servers. Developer Square Enix usually announces these well beforehand, so read on and see when future maintenance times are planned.

Ahead of the GTA 5 PC update, Rockstar is quietly working on Bully

In the pantheon of 'games we would all like but we might never get,' Bully 2 is up there now with Half-Life 3, Sleeping Dogs 2, and a new Titanfall. Originally released back in 2006, Bully takes the fundamental GTA formula and ages it down. Instead of a hardened career criminal, you're tearaway schoolboy Jimmy Hopkins. Rather than robbing banks, you're dropping cherry bombs in the faculty toilet. Funny, feisty, and with a great soundtrack by Shawn Lee, with Rockstar now focused on Grand Theft Auto 6, Bully's return seems less likely than ever. But it hasn't been forgotten completely. An updated version of GTA 5 is coming to PC, and it seems Rockstar may be preparing something Bully related at the same time.

It appears that Netflix has chosen to use AI art tools to expand out Arcane's core imagery to fit television resolution better, prompting severe backlash from fans online. In response, the brand lead for Riot Games Music, Alex 'Astryx' Shahmiri has branded the move "disrespectful," confirming that the expanded art has been removed from the League of Legends spinoff show's loading screen.

Path of Exile 2 Steam Deck compatibility still unknown ahead of launch

The Path of Exile 2 launch is coming up fast, but there's one big question mark hanging over the game for handheld gamers. That's because, at this point, Path of Exile 2 Steam Deck compatibility is still classed as Unknown. That's despite, the game's developers confirming that they were working on ensuring the game can be played on the Steam Deck with no issues whatsoever during the Summer.

With the Path of Exile 2 release date coming in December, we were expecting to find out the game's status on the best handheld gaming PC by now, as the team at Grinding Gear Games tried to make the game playable on Valve's portable from day one. However, even now, Steam Deck compatibility is still classed as Unknown.

The Hobbit movies are a mixed Baggins indeed - at once thunderous and thin, like butter scraped over too much bread - but one sequence I love from The Desolation of Smaug is Bilbo searching Khazad-dûm for the Arkenstone, while trying not to rouse the titular dragon from his slumber. Don't Wake The Beast is sort of that sequence plus Spelunkified procgen levels and Thief-esque stealth mechanics.

If the surprising number of you brought scurrying out of the woodwork by the announcement of Redwall-style survival game Hawthorn is anything to go by, the medieval rodent fanatic to RPS reader pipeline is a sturdy one, despite being constantly nibbled at. Here's some more delicious bait for you, then. Mossflower TW is a campaign mod for Medieval II: Total War expansion Kingdoms that lets ranks of mace-wielding mice, helmeted hedgehogs, and ornery otters skitter wildly all over the venerable strategy game. It's been about since Summer, and the team have been working on patching since. It seems very playable, if the footage of people playing it is anything to go by. Here's a video by YouTuber Tharshey so you can see it in action:

Highly-rated, Papers Please style game Beholder is free to keep right now

One of the creepiest and most dystopian puzzlers around has got to be Beholder. While the concept of being a crooked landlord spying on your tenants for a tyrannous state is pretty bleak, there's no denying that it can suck you in and keep you there with its strategy-lite elements. Now, this brilliant game is yours to keep for free, but you've not got long to claim it.

Dante's Ring is a fiery but combat-free RPG that looks super slick

Somewhat short but definitely sweet, Starward Industries' The Invincible is one of my favorite exploration games of recent times. Now it's just revealed its next title, an "anti-combat" RPG that lets you battle the elements in an active volcano range. Once again oozing with style, Dante's Ring is definitely getting on my wishlist.

Here's everything available in Path of Exile 2 early access at launch

We're just a couple of weeks from the Path of Exile 2 early access launch, so developer Grinding Gear Games finally lifts the lid on exactly what we can expect when the doors open. With Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred now behind us, PoE 2 has a clear space to stake its claim as the ARPG of choice for the holiday season. Ahead of its new presentation, which reveals the full breadth of content on offer from day one, I sat down with game director Jonathan Rogers to discuss how the team decided what would make the cut.

street fighter 6 pop up store

Grapht will open up a Street Fighter 6 pop up store in Tokyo Solamachi. It'll be open from November 27, 2024 to February 25, 2025. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

Aside from apparel (which are a given at pop up stores), you'll be able to get some new merchandise like identification markers and stickers. There are eleven different types of identification markers, and you can hang them from items like umbrella handles. This is so that you can differentiate between your umbrella and someone else's if you have one that a lot of people use. Other new items include large chibi stickers that you can attach to home electronics like the washing machine, and supporter towels that you can use at home or when cheering on your favorite fighter during an e-sports game.

Prices for everything are:

  • Big stickers: 1650 JPY
  • Identification marker: 880 JPY
  • Supperter towels: 2970 JPY

Grapht had already offered some of these items, like the supporter towels, before. But there are some new characters like Blanka or Rashid to collect for.

As a note, this is not the first time that Grapht organized a Street Fighter 6 pop up store at Tokyo Solamachi. It opened one from June 12 to August 27, 2024, for example, to commemorate the first anniversary of the game. Merchandise that was available at this time included keyholders, tote bags, and T-shirts.

Street Fighter 6 is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
