Minecraft Legends, the real-time strategy spin-off from the blocky survival game, is bringing an end to its post-release content additions with one final update later this month. The endcap to Legends comes nine months after its release.
Valve has put out a statement on its website in regards to how Steam will handle games that use AI technology. In short, Steam will allow developers to publish games with AI-generated assets in them, provided they fill out a disclosure section.
Developers have to describe what kind of AI their game uses. There will be two categories: pre-generated AI and live-generated AI. In the disclosure section, the developer needs to promise that the game does not include illegal or copyright-infringing content. If approved, information about the title using AI will appear on the store page for the game. Users will also be able to report any illegal content in live-generated or pre-generated AI games.
In the statement, Valve also apologized for taking so long to come to a decision in regard to AI. The company explained that they needed time to research and discuss AI with game developers to better understand its usage and risks.
AI's use in games and other art pieces has become a controversial subject in the industry. Most of the comments to Valve's statement are mixed. Some people pointed out that it will lead to more "shovelware titles," though others have rebutted that AI can unlock "endless possibilities" in games if used right. Comments also pointed out that Valve's statement doesn't cover training data rights, which means the AI in the game may have learned from stolen data.

A lot of fantastic roguelikes hit Steam throughout the past twelve months, but Below the Stone charmed me perhaps the most among them all. Mixing the top-down cave exploration of Crypt of the Necrodancer with the spirit of Spelunky and the rambunctious dwarven spirit that makes Deep Rock Galactic such a joy, this Steam Early Access indie game has my full attention, and I can't wait to see what gems developer Strollart digs up over the coming months.

Since the beginning of Season 13, it's safe to say that I've fallen out of love with League of Legends. We didn't review Turn 10 and Microsoft's latest Forza Motorsport and well, thank goodness, because I've just taken a look at the Steam page and it's a regular six-mile pile-up in there. The game's user reviews are Mostly Negative, three months after release, with complaints covering a wide gamut: the online being full of cheaters, the single player being boring, and the game being poorly optimised for PC.
The blockchain game Captain Tsubasa -Rivals- will have dedicated mobile app versions on iOS and Android, and its release date is now known. Mint Town and KLab's subsidiary BLOCKSMITH&Co. announced that they will release the game app as a free-to-play title on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
The Japanese press release noted that the currently ongoing web browser version has a high entry hurdle due to it being a Web3-based game. It gave assurance that the addition of a free-to-play version and credit card payment for in-app purchases will provide easier access to the game. People who have played the original browser game will also be able to link their accounts in the mobile apps.
The mobile app pre-registration webpage mentioned a campaign where the developers will add more Gacha Tickets and Amazon Gift code winners with a higher number of pre-registrants. The Japanese press release revealed that they have reached the third tier with over 80,000 pre-registrants. The fourth and last tier at 100,000 people will add one more Gacha Ticket for a total of four and 50 more Amazon Gift code winners to 100 in total.
Captain Tsubasa -Rivals- was originally revealed as a blockchain-based game in October 2022. It has a feature where every character generated is unique with their own theme music and card design. Although the game was originally intended for release on mobile devices, it is also playable on PCs via web browsers.
The developers gradually added more game modes throughout 2023, as listed in the roadmap on the official website. The features added post-launch include Rival Mode, PvP Mode, and Arena Mode. While the team has just confirmed the mobile app version's release date, it missed the initially planned window of Q4 2023.
Captain Tsubasa -Rivals- is immediately available on PC and mobile devices via web browsers. The dedicated free-to-play app version of Captain Tsubasa -Rivals- will appear for iOS and Android on January 24, 2024.
SuperGroupies announced that the Bloodborne Hunter coat and other merchandise based on Lady Maria and the Doll are back. Six items inspired by the FromSoftware game are now being sold again in Japan.
While these items are available in the Japanese storefront, they haven't returned in the US one. However, WorldShipping does allow people to buy from the Japanese site and ship it worldwide.
All of these items first ended up announced back in July 2023 and are different than the 2020 collection. Here's a full list of all the items you can get again alongside the Bloodborne Hunter coat, as well as their prices.

The Pokemon Company International announced that the next new Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion will be Scarlet & Violet Temporal Forces. That will launch on March 22, 2024.
This time around, there will be two Elite Trainer boxes and booster packs. All of them will feature the Paradox Pokemon versions of legendaries like Suicune and Virizion. Both of these, as well as other Scarlet and Violet characters, will appear. Pokemon ex and Tera type shifted ex cards will appear, as well as ACE SPEC cards. However, only seven ACE SPEC are in this set.

IGN released a new video showcasing gameplay from Dragon's Dogma 2, this time focusing on the Trickster vocation. This vocation, which is what classes are referred to in the game, is new to the series and was previously revealed at the showcase held in late November 2023.
The Trickster in Dragon's Dogma 2 has a very different style of gameplay when compared to the other vocations. Its censer attacks do negligible damage, but pull attention from enemies. They can then buff the damage of their Pawn companions, who can lay in to the befuddled foes. There are several other smoky shenanigans available to the Trickster, including re-deployable shadow clones, Area-of-Effect taunts and illusory walls or platforms. The IGN video also shows some ways of combining these tricks with the astral projection ability, tricking enemies into jumping off ledges to their doom.

IGN also recently released a gameplay video showing off 18 minutes of gameplay for the Fighter, Warrior, Thief and Sorceror vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2. Back in November 2023, Capcom also detailed the pre-order bonuses included in the regular and Deluxe editions of the game.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is set to release on March 22, 2024 for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
Masahiro Sakurai announced that his YouTube series "Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games" will end in 2024. This comes alongside a new video going over the UI feature that allows people to pause or skip in-game cutscenes.
Here is the official message from Masahiro Sakurai about his "Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games" series ending. It appeared on the Community section of his YouTube channel. It didn't offer any actual expected end date for the show. It only noted it will stop sometime this year.

As for the new installment, it is called "Let Them Skip, Let Them Pause." It goes the pause and skip functions for story segments in games. It also starts with him saying his opinion on the feature is that it should be available. He specifically noted, "Absolutely whenever possible. All at once if you can." It also showed Ghostwire Tokyo,Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Final Fantasy XVI, and Cyberpunk 2077 as examples that do offer that UI feature. He also explained why it is important to allow people to skip and pause, noting the importance of consideration and player control.
Sakurai's series often offers insight into game development and his thoughts on the topic. He'll often discuss games he's made, like Super Smash Bros Ultimate orKid Icarus: Uprising. However, he's also released some more lighthearted installments, like the fan-requested video about his cat Fukurashi.
Ling Xiaoyu's BFF Panda is the latest Tekken 8 character to get her own trailer. The Bandai Namco video focuses on gameplay, showing how she'll fight in this entry.
Like Kuma, Panda uses a variation of the Mishima style. The video begins with her apparently going through a bit of hop scotch before into matches. At the one minute mark, we see what happens when she goes into a match against Ling Xiaoyu, as there will be a special opening involving the two dancing and singing together.
This is the second recent trailer for the game. Prior to this, Bandai Namco shared a video with Brian Cox going over the Tekken series' story. He acted as a narrator explaining important plot points that will be resolved or built up upon in this latest entry. In the past, Cox appeared as Logan Roy in Succession, William Stryker in X-Men 2, and Death in Good Omens.
Takara Tomy revealed two new Zoids model kits with crossovers from Capcom's Monster Hunter series. The kits will feature the Beast Liger with Magnamalo's Sinister Armor and the Sonic Bird with Rathalos Armor. The company will open pre-orders for both kits on January 12, 2024.
Both the Beast Liger and Sonic Bird debuted in the 2019 anime show Zoids Wild ZERO. The Beast Liger appeared from the first episode as the starting Zoid for the show's protagonist Leo Conrad. Meanwhile, the Sonic Bird appeared right in the middle of the show in episode 26 as Jake Ramon's Zoid.
The Zoids from the more recent Wild series in the late 2010s are known to have controller handlebars near their heads, unlike the earlier entries which featured enclosed cockpits. As such, these new scaled model kits will come with miniature pilots who will ride on top of them.

Takara Tomy previously announced the crossover between Zoids and Monster Hunter in December 2023. However, it did not provide additional details about the collaboration until this reveal. The collaboration will mark major anniversary milestones for both franchises. Takara Tomy celebrated Zoids' 40th anniversary in 2023, while Capcom is going to mark Monster Hunter's 20th anniversary in 2024.
Takara Tomy had also revealed many other Zoids crossover model kits in the latter half of 2023. The lineup included a Gatling Fox modeled after the Hololive VTuber Shirakami Fubuki and a Hunter Wolf inspired by the 1988 anime show Mobile Police Patlabor. Although the Patlabor kit has since been made available for public pre-orders, Takara Tomy exclusively accepted pre-orders for Shirakami Fubuki's Zoid kit at the Zoids 40th Anniversary Exhibition in October 2023.
Pre-orders for the Monster Hunter - Zoids crossover model kits of Beast Liger with Sinister Armor and Sonic Bird with Rathalos Armor will open on January 12, 2024.
Kadokawa has released the first tankobon manga volume of Melty Blood Type Lumina: Piece in Paradise. It is available in Japanese both physically and digitally with a price tag of ¥748 (~$5.16). The physical book is available to order on Amazon Japan with worldwide shipping while stocks last. The digital version is also purchasable internationally on BookWalker.
This manga series originated with a different title: Oshiete MeruBura Dojo ~Miyako to Hajimete no Kakuge~ (Teach Us, Melty Blood Dojo ~The First Fighting Game With Miyako~). The author Metancone originally made four chapters of the Melty Blood Type Lumina spin-off manga throughout December 2022. The manga's popularity led to Type-Moon greenlighting an extension with the new title Piece in Paradise in April 2023.
Some of the manga's chapters are also available to read for free in Japanese on Type-Moon Comic Ace. The latest chapter to date—the second part of Chapter 11—appeared in December 2023. However, following the tankobon's release, Kadokawa and Type-Moon removed free access to chapters 6-8, so people will have to purchase the new volume to read those chapters.
The first tankobon volume of Melty Blood Type Lumina: Piece in Paradise is now available for purchase physically and digitally. The manga is based on the Melty Blood Type Luminafighting game, which is available immediately on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. The game also includes characters from Type-Moon's popular Fate series, such as Fate/Stay Night's Saber, Mash Kyrielight, Dantes, and Ushiwakamaru.
