PCGamesN Tuesday, August 23, 2022 1:52 PM Want to know all the Saints Row cheats available in the reboot? Volition's series of bonkers action-adventure games is renowned for its ridiculous cheats, but the latest instalment brings with it some big changes. With Saints Row racing full-throttle into the gen-z era, it's only natural to wonder if its classic cheats are still a thing. With all its changes, the dildo-bat-and-Johnny-Gat-free reboot retains notoriety, currency, and access to a cell phone, so you'd think there would be room for the cheats of old. However, you might be surprised by the open-world game's change to the system. RELATED LINKS: Saints Row release date, Best action-adventure games, Upcoming PC games |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:51 PM Where Winds Meet is a third-person open-world action RPG set in good ol' medieval China. How do I know that? Because Gamescom Opening Night Live showed the first trailer today. The game is set during China's Ten Kingdoms period, and the kind of supernatural abilities you'd only find in a wuxia movie. Watch it for yourself below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:49 PM Every Honkai: Star Rail trailer I watch focuses entirely on its many characters and their interpersonal drama, and the latest is no different. Dark pasts? Dark dreams? Dark academia bedrooms? It has all three. As per usual, I am just here for the fun of an old-fashioned train that can fly through space. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:38 PM It's not often that we get to report a game coming out earlier than planned rather than delaying the date, so it's nice to be able to tell you that Gotham Knights has moved its release date up. It's only by four days, though, to October 21st, which is sort of baffling. Maybe Warner Bros. are about to announce a new DC-verse TV show coming out on the Knights' original release date of the 25th? Who knows. But along with this early-release sneak attack is a new trailer, giving us a closer look at the rogues gallery that the extended Bat-family are up against. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:31 PM Grim Souls-like Lies Of P will be hitting PC sometime in 2023 according to a new gameplay trailer shown at Opening Night Live during this year's Gamescom. The RPG combines the story of Pinocchio with some major Bloodborne energy, as the puppet searches for a way to become a real human boy in a decimated city. This is far from the classic fairytale story though. With a dark-gothic backdrop and mechanical killer robots to contend with, Pinocchio has his work cut out for him. You can watch the new bombastic gameplay trailer below: |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:27 PM Portable monitors are pretty awesome - they're an easy way to get a dual screen setup going on a laptop, and also work well to expand the Steam Deck's rather modest screen into something a little more co-op friendly. Of course, they also work for desktop computers too - and are much more portable and space-saving than an average actual desktop monitor. You can even get OLED models now - and a coupon code on Amazon US brings one model down from Innocn from $350 to $200 when you tick the 'coupon' box on the product page. That's quite a bargain for a 15.6-in portable screen of this calibre. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:24 PM Outlast is filled with creepy doctors performing horrifying surgeries in the dark, but upcoming co-op sequel The Outlast Trials is now going to let you share that trauma with a friend. A new trailer debuted at Gamescom Opening Night Live this evening, and revealed that the closed beta will run over Halloween weekend, from October 28th to November 1st. You can head over to the Steam store page to request access now. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:22 PM Dead Island 2 will launch on February 3rd 2023, today's Gamescom Opening Night Live event has revealed, confirming the details from last week's big Amazon leak. By that point, it'll have been almost nine years since the zombie-bashing game was first announced at E3 2014. Gaze in astonishment at the existence of a new trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:09 PM Jeff Gardiner, a longtime Bethesdaman whose ended his 15-year run as project lead on Fallout 76, today announced he has a new studio making a new open-world RPG. Wyrdsong is its name, and supernatural shenanigans set in quasi-historical Portugal is its game. The new studio, Something Wicked Games really only have concept art to show right now, but I do believe both wizards and swords are involved. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:09 PM When I first played PlayStation exclusive Returnal last year, I didn't think it would be my jam. I've never been one for bullet hell shooters, and especially not super difficult ones that also double up as roguelikes. Turns out, it absolutely was my jam, and I think Scars Above, the new third-person sci-fi action shooter from Mad Head Games that was revealed tonight at Gamescom Opening Night Live, will be, too. Let's have a watch of the reveal trailer, shall we? |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:03 PM When co-op shooter Arc Raiders was delayed a couple of weeks ago, Embark Studios said that it was because development on their other project, an unannounced shooter, had progressed faster than expected. Well, tonight they announced that other shooter. It's called The Finals, it's a team-based shooter framed as a game show, and there's an extremely brief teaser trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 4:58 PM The Samsung Odyssey G5 is a solid 1440p 165Hz monitor, and it has the benefit of being significantly cheaper than other options. It's normally around £299, but now it's been reduced to £209 - and that seemed like as reasonable a reason as any to write up a little blog about it. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 4:57 PM One of the most traditonally epic trailers from the Gamescom-themed Opening Night Live tonight was for Atlas Fallen. It's a new fantasy action RPG, with super powers, set in a semi-open world. In what is becoming something of a theme for me tonight, however, the trailer doesn't really give much away about the game aside from the topline selling points. There is a tiny, teeny smattering of gameplay at the end, though. Big swords, big monsters, big magic, big sand. In another continuing theme from games revealed tonight, Atlas Fallen is out next year. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 4:38 PM I'd be interested enough in Phantom Hellcat if it was a stylish third-person 3D hack-and-slasher - which it is. But it's also a stylish 2D hack-and-slasher, and the perspective shift - and the odd, theatrical world that it reveals - is the most interesting thing about the 30 second announcement trailer. Watch it below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 4:36 PM It's been some time since we heard anything new about Telltale and Deck Nine's game based on James S.A. Corey's The Expanse sci-fi universe. At today's Gamescom Opening Night Live though, the episodic experts showed off some new gameplay footage from the upcoming The Expanse: A Telltale Game, along with a behind-the-scenes chat. Witness a revivified Telltale in action in the trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 4:19 PM Will clowns ever not be creepy? I've not seen 1988 film Killer Klowns From Outer Space, but from the look of the game adaptation's trailer, I don't think I ever want to. Announced during Opening Night Live at this year's Gamescom, the cult classic horror flick is getting a multiplayer horror game release. If you're not familiar with the film, the title kinda says it all. A group of aliens disguised as clowns invade earth and start killing people - simple! I'm told the trailer harkens back to some iconic moments from the film, so take a look below: |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 4:19 PM S'been a while since we've had a proper in-depth theme park sim, hasn't it? Park Beyond was revealed almost exactly a year ago, when the devs also talked a lot about the concept of "impossification", but it's been all quiet on the rollercoaster front since then. Tonight, at the Opening Night Live marking the start of Gamescom, we saw a shiny new trailer showing off some of the building tools and wacky modules you can build into your coasters. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 4:12 PM Genshin Impact's 3.0 update will launch - depending on what timezone you're in - either tomorrow or later tonight. If you're counting down the final six hours before its release, you can now spend that time watching the new trailer 187 times. It shows the new characters and the region of Sumeru and you'll find it below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 4:12 PM Well, here's a nice surprise. Brainwash Gang, the makers of narrative language game Grotto, unveiled their next project this evening at Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live showcase, and it's a funky, vibrant, online deckbuilding FPS called Friends Vs Friends. Think Neon White, but instead of competing with your friends on leaderboards, you're blasting their little cell-shaded noggins in real time in either 1v1 or 2v2 battles. Here's the reveal trailer. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 3:47 PM Stranded: Alien Dawn is a new sci-fi survival sim coming from the developers of Surviving Mars, Haemimont Games, announced at today's Gamescom Opening Night Live event. It's set on a planet that's a teensy bit greener than the red one near us, and heads into early access on Steam in October. Tap your instruments before checking out the sort-of-but-not-really live action reveal trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 3:37 PM Everyone has one or two things that still make them all happy and excited, with no trace of cynicism whatsoever, and one of mine is Monkey Island. I've not yet seen anything I didn't like of Return To Monkey Island. It's a new instalment in the classic point 'n' click 'n' pirate series being made under the loving care of Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman, two of the original devs, and now we know there's only a few more weeks to wait. Return To Monkey Island is coming soon to a computer near you on September 19th. There's a new trailer to prove it. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 3:37 PM Nebulae are nice and black holes are dramatic, but I firmly believe that space battles are at their very coolest when whizzing around supersized ships and megastructures. I am therefore delighted by the new Homeworld 3 trailer showing a battle around sprawling technoruins in the long-awaited spaceship strategy sequel. And yes, absolutely it still has those cool Tron engine trails. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 3:35 PM Note to self: can we please stop using the sea as a metaphor for grief, please? A Memoir Blue just about got away with it earlier in the year, but now it looks like we're going for another sorrowful dive with Under The Waves, a new poetic narrative adventure developed by Parallel Studio and published by *deep breath* Quantic Dream. Announced at Geoffcom's Opening Night Live showcase tonight, we'll be "exploring the depth of the sea and human grief" when Under The Waves launches in 2023. Here's a reveal trailer. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 3:14 PM Dark-fantasy RPG Lords Of The Fallen is getting a surprise reboot being developed by CI Games studio HexWorks. Announced during Opening Night Live at Gamescom, The Lords Of The Fallen is an action Soulslike that looks to be in the same vein as the original - lots of knights, swords, and undead - but, interestingly, the reboot has a completely different story set thousands of years after the events of the original. The cinematic trailer doesn't showcase any gameplay, but it does spotlight what lies in store for fans. Feast your eyes on the lavish trailer below: |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 3:11 PM Greetings, fellow kids! Sonic Frontiers is out on November 8th. If that date sounds familiar then that'll be because it's the one that's been leaked for ages. Sega have shown off some hints at the game's story during today's Gamescom Opening Night Live event. Gawp at the release date trailer below. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 2:59 PM Having watched a trailer for Everywhere, revealed at the Opening Night Live event marking the start of Gamescom 2022, I can tell you that hooooboy, this game sure does exist. Beyond that, I'm not sure I can say anything. Developers Build A Rocket Boy describe it as "an original multi-world experience" that "will blend gameplay, adventure, creativity, and discovery in a space that blurs the line between reality and the digital world". So it will probably be either like Roblox or like Second Life, then? Hopefully we'll get a greater sense of which by the time it's out, which will be in 2023. The teaser trailer is a montage of stuff happening quickly in the shape of the logo. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 2:58 PM One of the best parts of Dead Space is watching your man die horribly in little pieces, so I'm delighted to see that continue in the next game from several former Dead Spacers. A new The Callisto Protocol gameplay video fresh from Gamescom shows our beefy boy tumbling down the deadliest waterslide since Tomb Raider 2013, complete with gruesome mutilation at the end. Great. Thanks. Delighted. Ta! |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 2:57 PM After being teased earlier this year, we got our first proper glimpse at Gearbox's New Tales From The Borderlands game this evening, courtesy of Geoffcom's Opening Night Live showcase. Heck, we even got a release date, and it's real soon - October 21st, folks, so mark your calendars. Let's watch that brand-new gameplay trailer, shall we? |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, August 23, 2022 2:42 PM Imagine I have a weird alien squid pointed right at you. I need you to tell me what the developers of open-world watery survival game Subnautica are making next. Just, your best guess, or the squid'll getcha with its weird alien ink. Ready? Go!.... Okay, well congratulations to anyone who said "a turn-based strategy game inspired by tabletop miniatures". Unlikely as it may seem you were right, and everyone else was wrong. It's called Moonbreaker and it's hitting early access on September 29. And Brandon Sanderson is at this party, too. I admit it was a trick question, but look, I'm a genuinely big fan of devs doing a completely different project after a successful game. I also know a whole lotta people who love painting plastic fighters in cool colours, carefuly placing them on a tabletop, and slowly pushing them into other plastic fighters in different colours. I'm absolutely sure that Unknown Worlds will make a very good version of a digital tabletop strategy game. I must admit, though, that whenever a video game like this emerges, I sort of wonder why tabletop-thusiasts would buy it instead of more actual miniatures. |

Siliconera Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:00 PM Nintendo of Japan is cautioning players to choose the correct region for their first experience with Splatoon 3. The demo, which will host the game's first Splatfest prior to the full release, will only allow players to choose their region once. Nintendo delivered the advice via a Tweet from the official Japanese Splatoon account. https://twitter.com/SplatoonJP/status/1562004412020965379 The tweet laid out how the Splatoon 3 demo would work with regard to choosing player region. When players download the demo, it will ask them which region they live in or closest to. The current available regions are Japan, North America, Europe, and a combination region covering Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Korea. This will determine which region they'll be placed in when the demo's World Premiere Splatfest goes live. The wrinkle here is that a player won't be able to change their choice, which can affect their Splatfest's timing and network experience (if they pick a region that's very far away from their actual location). As such, Nintendo's advice should help some players stick a little closer to home to have the best experience with the Splatoon 3 demo. The full version of the game will allow players to change regions periodically. There will be a "cooldown" period once a player opts to change their selected region, to prevent players from affecting competitive play or Splatfest performance. Previously, Splatoon and Splatoon 2 segregated players based on the region of the game installation. Splatoon 3 uses a uniform game region for all copies, with the local data determined by the player's system settings and selected region. Splatoon 3 launches on Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. The World Premiere Splatfest demo is downloadable now and will go live on August 25, 2022. The post Nintendo Warns: Choose Correct Splatoon 3 Splatfest Region appeared first on Siliconera. |

Siliconera Tuesday, August 23, 2022 12:00 PM Bandai Namco's been on a tear lately. Between Gundam Evolution, Dragon Ball The Breakers, and now My Hero Ultra Rumble, the company's testing no less than three distinct multiplayer-oriented games based on popular anime properties. I got the chance to join the second My Hero Ultra Rumble beta test over the weekend. While there's still some work to be done on the game, fans of My Hero Academia may find a new place to tear things up online once it hits full release. My Hero Ultra Rumble is a My Hero Academia-based take on the battle royal genre. Eight teams of three players duke it out for supremacy while controlling characters from the My Hero Academia series. Options include eight Heroes and four Villains, in any combination (though the game doesn't allow two players to choose the same character on the same team). On the Hero side, players can choose from Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki, Ochako, Tsuyu, All Might, Cementoss, and Mt. Lady. Villain characters include Tomura, Dabi, Himiko, and Mr. Compress. There's more room on the character select menu to add characters, but the twelve present feels like plenty to start with. Like most battle royal games, players sprawl out over the map and usually spend the first few minutes scrambling for "gear". The gear takes the form of power ups and items. Items can heal you or add to your "Guard Point" gauge. GP is basically a Fortnite-style shield that absorbs damage before health, but GP is especially important in My Hero Ultra Rumble. That's because it keeps you from flinching or getting knocked around while it's up. Not having an attack interrupted is basically the key to winning an equal exchange of damage, so scrambling for GP potions is a big priority. Power cards can be equipped like items to provide a power boost when used, but can also level up your three powers. That's also important, as leveled-up powers become devastatingly effective. Every character in My Hero Ultra Rumble is unique, with playstyles and unique actions based on their "Quirk" superpowers. It's fun to see how each character gets their power set boiled down to three moves and a unique action. Deku, in his Shoot Style outfit, can shoot air blasts from his fists, do a flying kick, and use a whip-like power to snare enemies and pull them close. As I'm not caught up with the show or manga, I had no idea he even had that whip power. His unique action is to carry a teammate that's been downed to safety. Other characters are a bit more unique. Characters are divided into "roles" indicating their specialty. Assault characters like All Might and Deku are durable, but generally need to get close to do their best work. Strikers like Bakugo and Todoroki can deal damage at range as well, and move quickly across the field. Technical characters like Ochako and Dabi specialize in using unusual strategies and traps to get the drop on foes. Rapid characters like Tsuyu and Himiko move quickly and can take advantage of stealth or hit-and-run strategies. Finally, support characters like Cementoss and Mr. Compress can hinder enemies with their unusual attack properties. In practice this results in a lot of chaotic scrumming as people get into big brawls with powers flying every which way. It can be tough to get a bead on a single enemy in the confusion. No wonder that the first beta resulted in a lot of players taking full advantage of characters with huge areas of effect. Mt. Lady in particular can grow really big and simply stomp a zone to dust before her enemies can get out of the danger zone. Bandai Namco did say after the first beta that these characters would be toned down a bit. I didn't participate in the first test, so I can't say if they feel less overpowered than before, but they do feel a bit easier to use, because you don't have to worry as much about aiming or focusing on one target to make a big impact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4E7dNlTFiA Personally, I found the most enjoyment in My Hero Ultra Rumble playing and watching experienced players use technical characters. It was a joy to watch a teammate in spectator mode utterly demolish two or three teams with Ochako. This obvious expert lured them into traps of floating debris, and sprang away to safety with combinations of Ochako's zero-G jumping and her grappling hook-like ranged attack. Once the game comes out fully, the early stages where people are finding out how to make all the characters work together might make for an exciting time. Less exciting is the apparent monetization structure. My Hero Ultra Rumble will be free-to-play, but it'll be supported by the gacha. The game has a built-in "Roll" system and banners for cosmetic items. You can roll skins like the fantasy-themed "Parallel World" character designs, as well as things like emotes and voice lines. There didn't seem to be any indication that new playable characters or variants would be added this way, though, so it can be ignored to an extent. There's also a "shop" function where players can exchange in-game currency earned from matches for costumes. Not everything that was on the gacha was present in the shop, though. Though My Hero Ultra Rumble is a bit of a rough and unbalanced experience at the moment, there's a lot of potential for a unique and fast-paced take on superpower-enhanced battle royal. It remains to be seen whether Bandai Namco can manage to deliver the variety a game like this needs to thrive in the long term, though. My Hero Ultra Rumble will release on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2022. The post Preview: My Hero Ultra Rumble Beta Shows Heroic Potential appeared first on Siliconera. |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, August 23, 2022 6:45 PM If you were looking forward to Unknown Worlds Entertainment, aka the developers of Subnautica, announcing a new game that offers similar thrills to the famous underwater survival series, you may want to temper your expectations a bit. The developer has revealed its newest project as Moonbreaker, complete with a reveal trailer and word on a Steam Early Access release this September. Moonbreaker is a digital strategy game based around miniature figurines. It looks like the goal for Unknown Worlds Entertainment is to get in on a similar market to Hearthstone, which is understandably quite lucrative when done well. Moonbreaker is set to launch on September 29, meaning that it'll be released in about five weeks. Surprisingly, the game isn't going to be free-to-play and will instead require an initial purchase, at least in order to start playing during the Early Access period. The Early Access bundle will cost $30 USD, but will supposedly allow people who purchase it to af... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, August 23, 2022 6:30 PM Dead Island 2 was revealed today at last with both a new cinematic and gameplay trailer, as well as a release date: February 3, 2023. The long-awaited sequel to the 2011 original looks to be trying to recapture that irreverent vibe the series became known for. The cinematic trailer follows a Lenny Kravits lookalike (one of the six new playable characters in the game) as he goes shopping at the grocery store in the hills of Los Angeles. Oh, and there are zombies. The trailer strikes a nice balance between humor and gore-filled action. A number of cute visual gags are interlaced between satisfying and visceral zombie slaying. However nice cinematic trailers may be, they are often not indicative of how the game will play. And at times they're not even being remotely similar to the final product. So it's a good thing we've also been given a gameplay trailer for Dead Island 2. In it, we are treated to shots of the zombie-infested streets of LA that serve as the open-world s... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, August 23, 2022 6:08 PM I can't help but feel it's at least a little ironic for Deck13 to show off its next game during the same show The Lords of the Fallen was revealed. The latter game is a reboot of Deck13's action RPG Souls-like, but from a different studio. I'm sure it's fine. Deck13, which also created The Surge, has plenty else to focus on. Atlas Fallen, its new game, was revealed in full today at Opening Night Live with a trailer bursting with action. Well, it bursts with action after about the halfway point. Up to this, we're introduced to the world of Atlas Fallen. In a post-apocalyptic landscape choked by sand, you hunt monsters with shape-altering weapons. Sand seems to hold a great power in Atlas Fallen, as seen in the trailer. Weapons are made from sand, which also grants the use of magical abilities. Anakin Skywalker would hate this game. Sand also lends itself to your mobility. In the trailer, we see two characters gliding along the sands as easily a... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:09 PM There's plenty to see at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022, but it's up to you to determine which game is the star of the show. One candidate is Phantom Hellcat, a hack-n-slash adventure which provides entertainment in true theatrical form. According to developer Ironbird Creations, Phantom Hellcat takes place within a cursed theater where the protagonist incidentally finds herself in a tough predicament. The evil within has somehow taken her mother hostage, but there are bigger issues afoot as well. Jolene must find a way to both save her mother and prevent the twisted stories of humanity from escaping out into the world. The trailer is brief and to the point. It jumps straight into some gameplay, demonstrating how you'll dodge, parry, slice, and dice your opponents in melee combat. From what we've seen, the combat mainly caters to mobility and making flashy, short work of various monster-like adversaries. Cursed by design The emphasis on cinematic setti... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, August 23, 2022 5:05 PM The news of the century has arrived! The circus from outer space is coming from the galaxy and straight into our PCs, and we should all be very excited. The cult classic film, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, is rightfully getting a video game adaptation — Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game. From the director of Friday the 13th: The Game, Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game will allow you to run around as the magnificent Killer Klowns who laser gun people down or as survivors fighting the threat of these evil beings. The game is described as an "asymmetrical multiplayer horror based on the iconic 80s film" and will feature a battle between the Killer Klowns and the citizens of Crescent Cove. A team of three players will make up Killer Klowns and they will utilize fantastically crazy abilities and weapons. Meanwhile, the humans will be comprised of seven players who will need to pick a class, explore the city for loot and weapons, and avoid getting demolished... |
