Having a (relatively) small device that can play basically any big game on it is a cool idea, and that's what I love about Valve's Steam Deck. But the Deck can be a bit bulky, and its battery just doesn't last sometimes. Plus it doesn't work easily with Xbox Game Pass. So the idea of a new, smaller handheld dedicated…

Portal with RTX

Hardware and GPU maker Nvidia has announced a new DLC pack for 2007's Portal. Called Portal with RTX, the content pack will be free to all players and launch in November 2022.

Check out the Portal with RTX world premiere trailer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZHBl5yWqJk

The goal of Portal with RTX is to portray a tech demo of sorts, both for Nvidia's ray tracing technology and for Nvidia RTX Remix, a new modding platform that will allow modders and amateur developers to add ray tracing to existing games. Nvidia claims that modders will "have the tools to make ambitious remasters, even for games that were previously unmoddable."

Players will be able to "import" a game to RTX Remix, enhance materials, create custom assets, then export an RTX mod equipped with ray tracing and support for other Nvidia-based features like DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and Nvidia Reflex (a free feature designed to lower input lag). Players can also check out comparison screenshots from the base game and Portal with RTX at this site, along with more detailed explanations of the technologies applied.

Portal with RTX was just one of the various Nvidia-related announcements, led by the introduction of the company's latest series of graphics cards. Nvidia claims that its GeForce RTX 40 series are up to 4X faster than the current 30 series. Alongside the RTX 40 series are updates to Nvidia's DLSS feature, which will be supported by 35 new games, including Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, and Hitman 3.

Portal with RTX launches in November on PC. The base Portal game is available on PC, and also appeared on the PS3, Xbox 360, Android, Linux, and Nintendo Switch.

Logitech G Cloud Handheld SplashCloud gaming has become increasingly more popular worldwide. To capitalize on the emerging market, Logitech G has created a new, Android-powered gaming handheld that it is dedicated purely to cloud gaming — the Logitech G Cloud. This new handheld boasts impressive battery life, a traditional controller-style design and layout, and a decent touchscreen. All of this sounds pretty good, but what about the price? With an MSRP of $349.99 USD, this puts it in exact competition with the Steam Deck.   Powered by the sky Endorsed by Microsoft as an "optimized" device for Xbox Cloud Gaming, the Logitech G Cloud is a Wi-Fi-only handheld system designed exclusively for such a task. Powered by Android, the G Cloud doesn't contain much raw horsepower of its own. The specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G and an octa-core CPU that runs up to 2.3GHz; a modest chipset, but definitely nothing that can handle some heavyweight native gaming. For the most part, the device is targ...

Brotato Early Access aliens potatoIf you ever dreamed of gunning down hordes of bad guys as a sentient potato, developer Blobfish's Brotato has you covered. This quirky rogue-lite arena shooter bears more than a little resemblance to the flash games you'd commonly find on Newgrounds, both in aesthetic and attitude. If you have a fondness for that 2000s Newgrounds vibe or enjoy the works of creators like Edmund McMillen, then Brotato could appeal to you. Fortunately, Brotato will make its way to Early Access six days from now on September 27. You'll be able to jump in quite soon if you like what you see in the Early Access trailer. As you might expect, Brotato focuses more on action-packed thrills than it does on narrative. But in case you still want to learn about the game's setup, it involves "a spaceship from Potato World" accidentally crash landing on a mysterious planet. The crash wipes out everyone on board except for Brotato, a highly-capable potato warrior who can use up...

VPN servers – who has the most?

If you're looking for a VPN and you want to know which service gives you the broadest selection of VPN servers, you've come to the right place. This will understandably be a top consideration when determining which provider you want to use, because a vast server array comes with a lot of benefits.

If you go for an option that has a lot of VPN servers, you reduce the risk of congestion, which can result in slower speeds due to so many users using the same server. Additionally, you increase the chances of finding a server that's compatible with any website or online service you might want to use, and you can be even more anonymous online, by switching servers every time you log on.

We've picked out six VPN providers that have the broadest selection of servers, and we've listed both the total number of servers for each one, and the total number of countries in which these servers are located. For added convenience, we've provided mini overviews that will let you know which is the fastest VPN, the best gaming VPN, or whatever else it is that makes each one special.

How to get a mop in Return to Monkey Island

Knowing how to get a mop in Return to Monkey Island takes place during the first act of the game, which sees Guybrush Threepwood arrive on Melee Island only to instantly make plans to leave it behind. As part of his search for The Secret of Monkey Island, Guybrush needs to get on board his nemesis LeChuck's ship, which is anchored at the docks.

This involves convincing quartermaster Iron Rose that he is not Guybrush Threepwood and in possession of a mop, so that he can take up the convenient 'Swabbie' job opening. It's not quite so simple though - nothing ever is when it comes to Guybrush - so this is how you get a mop on Melee Island so you can advance beyond the first part of Return to Monkey Island.

How to get and use the forest map in Return to Monkey Island

The Return to Monkey Island forest map puzzle is just one of many obstacles you may get stuck on during the main quest in Part 1. To help you get the mop, you'll need to find a stick found only in the maze-like forest, so you need a map to navigate through the dark trees without getting lost. Getting this particular navigational tool in this pirate game takes a bit of work, but eventually, you'll slice off a bit of the chef's mop to give to Wally in his shop so he can make you the forest map.

In a rather predictable twist, the map Wally makes is… less than helpful. On top of being hard to read, the solution for how to solve the Return to Monkey Island forest map puzzle is altered slightly depending on what difficulty mode you choose to play the game. If you are playing the game in casual mode, follow the directions shown by the dotted lines on the parchment Wally gives you. You'll eventually come across the tree you're looking for. However, if you play on hard mode, there is an extra logical step.

Should you pick casual or hard mode in Return to Monkey Island?

Want to know if you should choose Return to Monkey Island casual or hard mode? Difficulty modes for adventure games may seem like a bizarre concept for some, but these settings can make the difference between someone enjoying Guybrush's latest adventure or getting frustrated. Veterans will likely shudder at the mere mention of the Monkey Wrench puzzle from Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge.

However, the game doesn't quite explain what the difficulty options actually mean. Look no further than the in-game descriptions for Return to Monkey Island casual and hard modes: "All the story and all the fun but with casual puzzles for the busy on-the-go player". "More puzzles! Harder puzzles! The full monkey! For the pro-adventure gamer who wants it all". Sure, you may sense that one is tougher than the other, but how exactly does the difficulty change?      The best Tower of Fantasy Claudia build

Looking to craft the best Tower of Fantasy Claudia build? The tenacious Hykros Executor debuted in the Tower of Fantasy 1.5 Artificial Island update, and immediately secured her place as an incomparable damage support simulacrum in our Tower of Fantasy tier list. While there are plenty of Tower of Fantasy characters that provide support via healing, Claudia excels at boosting the damage output of her team while functioning as an aggressive melee damage-dealer in her own right. For a full breakdown of everything she has to offer, take a look at our Tower of Fantasy Claudia primer.

Our Tower of Fantasy Claudia build pairs the best team composition, matrices, and weapon advancements with the primary skill in her rotation to optimise her damage support role. However, before we get started, it's important to clarify that Tower of Fantasy's build management differs from the run-of-the-mill MMORPG. Aside from their awakening traits, simulacra serve as cosmetic skins, and a 'team' in Hotta Studio's anime game more closely resembles a Tower of Fantasy weapons loadout. For the purposes of this build guide, we treat the Claudia simulacrum and her Guren Blade weapon as a complete set. That said, let's get into our Tower of Fantasy Claudia build.

I'm a sucker for invention when it comes to story in video games, and Beacon Pines drew me in with what looked like a choice-driven adventure. As you explore the down-on-its-luck farming town of the title, you discover 'charms'. Each charm is a word which can be deployed at set points to branch the story in new, severe ways. More importantly, you can flip back and forth between these pivotal moments at any time, allowing you to deploy new words in earlier chapters to see what happens.

Except, Beacon Pines is far less choice-driven than I expected. Instead, it's something far rarer and more ambitious in video games: it is a good story, well written, with strong characters you grow to care for.

The best way I can explain the difference between Devil Daggers and its surprise sequel is comparison to another pair of goth-o-ramas: Devil Daggers is Dark Souls to Hyper Demon's Bloodborne. Both first-person score attack shooters are dressed in similar beautiful cloaks of skulls and gurgling industrial soundscapes, but while Devil Daggers nudges you into cautious survival, Hyper Demon shoves you into aggression. In Hyper Demon, a long and cautious run will likely score lower than a short burst of ultraviolence. What glorious ultraviolence it is!

When I first saw Hyper Demon's trailer, I felt excitement, wonder, and fear. Here's the important thing to realise: the unearthly and incomprehensible violence you see in that trailer is genuinely what the game looks like to play. That's how it feels to play, too.

Of all the games I sampled at this year's Gamescom, Scorn surprised me the most. For whatever reason, I was expecting this survival horror adventure to ditch spookiness for kookiness, perhaps rattling my bones with hyper-violence and monsoons of crimson.

Nope - the game wasn't what I expected at all. At least, not the 45-minute portion I got to play. Rather, my demo was more of a hardcore puzzler with some exploration elements and the teeniest smattering of action. Don't get me wrong, it was still unsettling and grotesque! Just in more of a brain-training way, if the brain-training was for MIT graduates, or like, the human calculators on University Challenge.

Dragon Quest Infinity Strash

Square Enix confirmed officially that Dragon Quest Infinity Strash will receive a localized release in the West. The confirmation came on Monday, after the 2022 Tokyo Game Show. As part of its Western release, Infinity Strash is getting a formal English title: Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai. The game was announced back in 2020, but was delayed and does not have a current release window.

Check out the latest trailer for the game below. English subtitles are available in the closed captions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZDK4rLOhyw

Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai is based on Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, a 2020 anime series. The show is in turn based on the 1991 manga of the same name. The Adventure of Dai (a.k.a. Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken) stars a young hero named Dai. He and his companions must fight to stop a monstrous army led by Dark Lord Hadlar and Dark King Vearn. Dai trains under Avan, a legendary hero who once defeated Hadlar years before. It's Avan who also teaches Dai his signature technique, the Avan Strash. "Strash" comes from a portmanteau of "Strike" and "Slash".

Infinity Strash is billed as an action-RPG, developed by Game Studio and Kai Graphics. It'll have two game modes. The first is Story Mode, which more or less follows the narrative of the Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai TV series. Square Enix confirmed during a live gameplay session at TGS 2022 that the narrative will follow the show up through the "Sovereign Rock Castle" story arc. It'll also feature CG sequences and cutscenes. The second mode is the meatier and semi-randomized Temple of Memories. The Temple of Memories is a many-layered dungeon that changes its enemy makeup and mechanics every time you play. Players will also be able to steer their progress by making choices that could lead to great benefits or tough challenges. They'll also be able to equip Bond Memory items to increase their stats. Getting a Bond Memory for the first time plays a mini-cutscene corresponding to the memory and moment from the Adventure of Dai manga.

Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai is in development, but will receive a simultaneous global release on PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch. It does not have a release date at this time.

tokyo game show 2022 merch

In addition to demo booths and showcases, Tokyo Game Show 2022 was host to a fair amount of merch from some of the biggest names in the video game industry. While some appeared at booths run by various retailers, many companies chose to set up booths of their own. These included limited edition products from Kojima Productions, Capcom, Square Enix, and Konami. Notably, the event featured some unreleased and upcoming merchandise, from plushies to figures, furniture, and more.

Practically an entire half of a hall was dedicated to merchandise. Some of the more prominent brands had franchises such as Apex LegendsAmong Us, and Undertale on display. No wonder, as these brands have a significant fanbase in Japan. The Cospa and Fangamer booths had a wide array of merchandise from various IPs, including the likes of Metal GearJet Set Radio, and games from Sony Interactive Entertainment. One interesting item I found was a pin badge of Revolver Ocelot, which had a revolver that actually spun around.

[gallery link="file" ids="936100,936099,936102"]

The main players of the merchandise area were Square Enix and Capcom, however, both of which had their own dedicated booths. Square Enix, in particular, had two entirely seperate booths for their music and merchandise divisions. FFVII Remake and Kingdom Hearts dominated the merchandise section. Square Enix showed off upcoming products such as the new FFVII Remake Tifa PlayArts figure, as well as some new Kingdom Hearts merchandise.

Furthermore, it even had roped-off sections dedicated to the $11,500 Masterline FFVI statue. The Kingdom Hearts 20th anniversary merchandise even included a "Chesterfield Armchair", which may appear as merchandise in the near future. As expected, another section was also dedicated entirely to Dragon Quest merch, though there weren't any new releases from what I could gather.

In the music booth, Square Enix was selling vinyl albums of soundtracks from some of its most popular games, from FFVII to FFXIVChrono CrossNieR and more. Some of these albums even included signatures from the composers who worked on them, making them quite the collector's item.

[gallery columns="5" link="file" ids="936094,936095,936096,936097,936091"]

Capcom, much like their game lineup, focused almost entirely on Monster Hunter and Resident Evil merchandise. Arguably the most eye-catching of these was the return of the full-body length Khezu sleeping bag, as well as the recently-announced Palico onesie. Capcom certainly leaned more into the humorous side of things, showcasing its Rajang body pillow and Khezu beanbag pillow. Some of these products are still available on the Japanese e-Capcom store, though they'll run you at least $200.

[gallery columns="2" ids="936101,936098" link="file"]

Kojima Productions, though declining to show any new games this year, opted instead for a pure-white cube-shaped booth with plenty of merchandise stocked. What stuck out to me most were the small and medium-sized cryptobiote plushies from Death Stranding. Beside it, the studio was also selling a 1:1 replica of BB, complete with its signature yellow tank, for ¥16,500 (about $114). Additionally, Kojima Productions also sold various T-shirts, Ludens figurines, stickers, and Nendoroids. On the other side of the booth was a large teaser for its latest project, with a QR code that leads to the company's website.

[gallery link="file" ids="936103,936092,936104"]

Needless to say, practically every booth was packed for most of the day, particularly during days where the venue was open to the public. Lines would typically stretch around the hall, taking nearly an hour to reach the cashiers. Thankfully, I still managed to get the merchandise that I wanted: a limited edition Ape Escape hoodie.

Is it a sign from the gods that Sony will eventually revive the franchise? Probably not.

But a guy can dream, can't he?

Sonic Prime

Sonic Prime, the planned Netflix animated series based on Sonic the Hedgehog, got its first solo teaser video on Tuesday. The show was first announced back in 2021, and is being produced by Man of Action Entertainment and Wildbrain. The previous animated Sonic series, Sonic Boom, ended in 2017 after its second season.

Check out the trailer below. The show is set to debut in Winter 2022.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUb16YyU-04

The Sonic Prime teaser trailer features Sonic running in scenery resembling well-known Sonic the Hedgehog stages, as well as his eternal conflict with Dr. Eggman. Characters like Big the Cat also appear, and Sonic gets into a fight with both Shadow the Hedgehog, and Eggman's robot.

There have been multiple Sonic the Hedgehog animated series over the years, beginning with 1993's Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, produced by DiC Entertainment. Sonic Prime will be the second CG-animated Sonic series after Sonic Boom. Though many elements from the game (and previous shows) appear in Sonic Prime, one that won't be returning is Sonic's English-language voice. Roger Craig Smith, who voiced Sonic from 2010, said that he would not be returning to voice the character for Sonic Prime. Deven Mack, who voiced Vangelis from Ninjago, Wynton from Bakugan, and Chuck from Angry Birds: Summer Madness, will voice Sonic in the new series.

Sonic Prime premieres on Netflix in Winter 2022. A live-action Sonic miniseries is in development, tied to the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action feature films, and is set to debut on the Paramount+ streaming service in 2023.

The Diofield Chronicle

The DioField Chronicle is fast approaching its release date of September 22, 2022. Ahead of that day, Square Enix released a behind-the-scenes look at the game's music.

The game features a fully orchestrated soundtrack, and the interview focuses on the game's composers, Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell.

In the interview, Djawadi and Campbell spoke about how music from a game can stick with a player long after the game ends, and about their process with composing for The DioField Chronicle. They spoke about suiting the composition to the needs of the game's setting. One thing that Campbell found fun was being given the freedom to write "big orchestral pieces" not tied with raising the drama of a specific scene, but of the whole game's diversity of moods.

Ramin Djawadi is best known for his work composing for films and television. He composed for series like HBO's Game of Thrones, and Westworld, and for films like Marvel's Iron Man and Eternals, Pacific Rim, and The Great Wall.

Brandon Campbell is a frequent collaborator with Djawadi, and in addition to helping score The DioField Chroncile, co-composed music for Amazon's New World online RPG. He also worked on the music for Pacific Rim: The Black (the animated Pacific Rim spin-off), Gears of War 4 and Gears 5, and the live-action Warcraft film. In 2021 Campbell won a Daytime Emmy Award for Music Direction and Composition for a Drama Series, thanks to his work on Netflix's The Letter for the King.

The DioField Chronicles releases on September 22, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. A playable demo is available now. Check out Siliconera's preview of the game for more about how it plays.

A major security risk found in Dark Souls III was discovered, and it caused the online servers for the game to be shut down for most of 2022. Before the shut down, hackers could potentially control other players' PCs remotely and alter their game. It simply reads: "At this time, there is a confirmed issue with Dark Souls III online play via the Steam platform. Weekend two of the Modern Warfare 2 beta is getting ready to begin, adding PC players to the mix, and it'll come with some key changes. Enemies could easily hear you through surfaces and from long distances. As a result, Infinity Ward is reducing the range of footstep audio for the second weekend of the beta.  Additionally, you should find that friendly footsteps will sounds different from those of the enemy.   When playing the beta for the first time, players quickly realized that slide-cancelling wasn't present.
