Tales Of Arise Producer Suggests More Tales Remakes & Remasters Could Happen

Yusuke Tomizawa, the Producer on Tales of Arise, has suggested that Bandai Namco Games could release additional remakes and/or remasters of past Tales games in the future, as a means of further expanding the series' fanbase outside of its native Japan.

Speaking with 4Gamer (translated by DualShockers), Tomizawa-san acknowledged fan requests for remakes and remasters in the Tales series, and as such hasn't ruled out producing more of these down the line.

We do know a lot of fans want console games, so we'd like to keep releasing them. But console games have a limited lifespan, so we will keep doing smartphone games too. I can't confirm anything at this stage, but I also want to satisfy fans' requests for remakes and remasters.

Since we'll need something to keep the Tales of brand going between Arise and the next main title release.

It's worth noting that Tales of Luminaria wasn't likely announced when this interview was conducted, or he probably would have named it directly.

In the meantime, Tales of Arise launches for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on September 10, 2021. You can read our full verdict on the game here.

PS5 Sales In Japan Have Surpassed One Million Units

Famitsu has reported that PS5 sales in Japan have reached one million, and what's more, the console has achieved the milestone faster than its predecessor.

PS5 sold 1,012,656 in Japan as of September 5, 2021, which breaks down to 847,421 and 165,235 for the Standard and Digital-Only Editions, respectively. Interestingly, its highest selling game as far as brick-and-mortar-retailers go is Resident Evil Village, which has moved over 67,000 units.

By comparison, the PS4 reached one million sales in its home territory in January 2015, 11 months after its debut in Japan in February 2014.

Related Content – Sony PS5 Complete Guide – A Total Resource On PlayStation 5

To be fair, it's pretty impressive that PS5 has managed to achieve this milestone in this time, as the console is still not readily available worldwide, having been plagued by supply issues since launch.

Worryingly, Toshiba has suggested that ongoing PS5 and Xbox Series X/S shortages could continue into late 2022.

The PS5 launched in Japan on November 12, 2020, arriving in the same month as the US, Europe, and other major regions.

Bandai Namco Will Send You A Free Digital Copy Of Tales Of Arise If Your Collector's Edition Doesn't Arrive On Time

Tales Of Arise is the latest and one of the most impressive entries within the Tales franchise, but despite Bandai Namco having issues shipping out collector's editions of the game, that won't stop you from playing it right away since they'll send you a free digital copy of the game instead.

The news comes from an email sent to a customer where Bandai Namco explains that "An unforseen cascade of events caused by the pandemic has led to a worldwide container shortage crisis affecting entire supply chains and shipment delays on a global level. We regret to announce that this has caused a delay in Tales Of Arise Collector's Editions across the North American markets."

The email continues, saying "For those customers who will be affected by the delay, a digital code of Tales Of Arise will be sent to them so they can play on release day, 9/10/2021. Please accept our apology! If you don't recieve your Tales Of Arise Collector's Edition on or near September 10, please wait until following Monday, September 13 to contact customer support."

So if you've pre-ordered a collector's edition for Tales Of Arise, then it might be worth double checking your shipping, and if it does arrive late, checking in with Bandai Namco to find out if you can snag a digital copy to get playing as soon as possible.

Gridiron Returns To Rocket League In New NFL Content Available Starting Tomorrow

Rocket League will be celebrating the beginning of another season of NFL football with the reveal that the NFL Fan Pass will be coming to the game starting tomorrow, September 9, 2021 which includes the return of beloved game more Gridiron along with plenty more NFL content.

You'll be able to acquire the fan pass for 1000 credits, and the way it works this year is different than how it did previously, since purchasing it will not only unlock content right away but as the NFL season continues, with new content launching during Thanksgiving and the Super Bowl.

Players who do purchase the fan pass will get new animated Dominus decals for all 32 teams and a new pigskin paint finish. Everything that is set to come later will be added to your inventory automatically when its made available.

The return of Gridiron however is the biggest addition, since the last time developer Psyonix introduced it, fans loved it so much there were many calling for it to be a permanent addition to the game.

Marvel's Avengers Lays Out 2021 Roadmap, Spider-Man Coming To PS5 And PS4 This Year

Marvel's Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics have laid out their roadmap for the rest of 2021, and it looks like by the end of the year players on PS5 and PS4 will finally be getting the hero they were promised at launch, with Spider-Man set to arrive sometime later this year.

The roadmap is unfortunately not much more specific than that, since all it covers is the month of September, with the game's one year annivesary celebration currently ongoing, and the rest is just labelled as Fall/Winter, with Spider-Man somewhere in the middle.

Around the same time as Spider-Man joining the roster, Marvel's Avengers will also be launching its first raid, where players can take on Klaw. New gear, events, enemy types and of course outfits will be dolled out as the year goes on at different points, so expect to be hearing plenty from Cyrstal Dynamics in the coming months, though hopefully none of that news is for a delay.

Firesprite Will Be The Lead Team On Several Development Projects

PlayStation Studios grew today (September 8) with the acquisition of Firesprite, the developers behind PSVR game The Persistence and who have also played support roles for other PlayStation titles, though PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst is clear that this time, they won't be the support team, but instead leading multiple projects.

In an interview with website GamesIndustry.Biz, Hulst explains the methodology they approached the acquisition with, speaking as he's done previously about only bringing a team into the fold after already establishing a strong relationship with them and a sense of trust.

He also made it clear what they'll be doing for PlayStation, and that is simply making games – not supporting other teams and helping with projects around the entirety of PlayStation, but developing their own games.

""It is just the right time for them to join us and double down on the projects that we're doing with them. To solidify the relationship and to give them a proper seat at the table where we have formal knowledge exchange with other studios. They already have some strong ties with certain first-party studios, but I want to be clear that we want them to lead the development of several game projects, rather than helping other teams out."

Improvements have made to team and player training, including a new Prep Hub that offers a one-stop shop for players who are eager to try and adjust team training and fatigue while looking toward the scouting report of the next opponent.

Meanwhile, new Conditional Coaching offers power users the ability to help give coaching directives while they simulate games, and there's also new attributes and badges to help build an interesting narrative that comes to life.

Finally, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners will have access to three pre-built custom teams, complete with logos, uniforms, and arenas, which allows for an easier time customising leagues.

We've got big changes to MySTAFF and Training to add new layers of depth to any type of MyNBA you create, plus better spreadsheets across the mode, new pre-built teams to play with, greater control over the way your teams run via simulator, and a countless number of bug fixes and other minor improvements to continue to improve your experience this year!

The Playroom Developer Firesprite Has Been Acquired By PlayStation Studios

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that PlayStation Studios has welcome another company under its umbrella, this time in the shape of Firesprite, the creators of Run SackBoy! Run and The Playroom.

The studio's pedigree speaks for itself, as a number of the developer's talent comes from SIE Studio Liverpool, who of course were responsible for the likes of PlayStation classics such as WipEout and more. With Firesprite Studio now under its belt, this brings Sony's its 14th studio — a figure that is likely to continue growing steadily in the coming months.

Today is an incredibly exciting day for Firesprite as we join PlayStation Studios with the backing of Hermen and the entire PlayStation Family. We are very much looking forward to the next part of our journey!

Firesprite, headquartered in Liverpool in the North-West of the UK, was founded in 2012 with the vision of creating games that bring new innovations to any experience we develop. The North-West is steeped in gaming history, producing many iconic developers, publishers and games such as WipEout. Many of our 'Sprites developed and shaped titles from this era and we are very proud of those roots!

We've had the pleasure of working with many talented developers and publishers across the industry and PlayStation in particular has been a friend and co-development partner for the best part of a decade, collaborating together on many exciting projects including The PlayRoom, Run Sackboy! Run and The PlayRoom VR.

According to additional reports, Firesprite Studios is currently working on a "AAA branching narrative adventure game" and a "AAA quality new action shooter IP."

The Riftbreaker Confirmed For PS5 Release On Oct. 14, Features 4K/60 FPS With Ray-Tracing Effects

EXOR Studios and Maxium Games have announce that The Riftbreaker is coming to PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on October 14, 2021. The game is also slated to appear on PS4 and Xbox One, although that will happen at a later, as-yet undisclosed date.

Still, it sounds like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will be quite the visual spectacle, with The Riftbreaker's use of the Schmetterling 2.0 engine allowing for AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution, which means you'll get 4K resolution at a silky-smooth 60 FPS with ray tracing effects enabled on PS5 — Xbox Series X offers the same 4K/60 FPS combo, minus raytracing.

Naturally, those of you playing on Sony's latest gaming box will be able to utilise DualSense adaptive trigger and haptic feedback support, which is good to know.

Travelling through a one-way portal to the distant planet Galatea 37, Captain Ashley S. Nowak, aka The Riftbreaker, takes up the task of establishing a base to facilitate travel to and from Earth to further colonisation efforts.

Your Mecha-Suit, which Nowak affectionately labels Mr. Riggs, is able to withstand the harsh environmental conditions of the plant, and is packing all sorts of handy stuff you'll need to get your base up and running — as well as proving highly efficient in combat, which she'll need in her mission.

The Riftbreaker comes to PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on October 14, 2021, with a PS4 and Xbox One version coming later down the line.
