PCGamesN Monday, December 12, 2022 11:41 AM It might be a stretch to think about Apex Legends season 16, with Eclipse still in full swing, but we have a fair idea of when the next season will begin, and what the theme will be. As with any new Apex Legends season, we're usually guaranteed a new legend, a new map - or variation on a map - and a bunch of new cosmetics. Apex Legends season 15 Eclipse began on November 1, and with it came a new defensive legend, Catalyst, a new map, Broken Moon, and the ability to gift cosmetic items to your friends. It was a sizable update to the battle royale game, giving players plenty of content to sink their teeth into, but when can we expect the next season of Apex Legends? PCGamesN Monday, December 12, 2022 10:41 AM Warzone 2, the latest Call of Duty battle royale game from Infinity Ward, has been a source of frustration following its November launch, as the UI and menus, similar to those in Modern Warfare 2, feel complex and impenetrable. PCGamesN Monday, December 12, 2022 10:39 AM The best stealth games occupy a curious niche in PC gaming. Occasionally, the best stealth games are their own thing, a result of a developer channelling all of the mechanics of a game into the suspense and satisfaction of killing, stealing, and infiltrating unnoticed. Most of the time, though, stealth is just one of several ways you can navigate a game, as you consciously opt for the path of the shadowy rogue or incisive assassin over more forceful approaches. Any game that features stealth is eligible for our best stealth games list, but it needs to do it pretty damn well (sorry Skyrim, you had your chance. Sorry Assassin's Creed, you had about 20 chances). MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Dishonored 2 release date, Dishonored 2 character choice, Emily in Dishonored 2 |

PCGamesN Monday, December 12, 2022 11:06 AM What are the best adventure games? From 1976's text-based Adventure – that gave the genre its name – through the point-and-click golden age of the '90s and up to more modern fare, few genres have endured quite so well as the adventure game. That multi-decade lifespan has produced some of the most astounding titles, so it is certainly a struggle to narrow down a list of the best adventure games. Adventure games have prospered thanks to a focus on story and character. That, and a few tricky brain teasers, as opposed to violence, set the genre apart. Characters usually get by through talking or thinking instead of resorting to fighting – though, Full Throttle protagonist Ben might have a few things to say about that. PCGamesN Monday, December 12, 2022 7:41 AM The best Minecraft seeds cater to a number of requirements, like strongholds near villages for speedrunning, beautiful landscapes for building, and great areas for looting. These seeds are codes that Minecraft uses to generate worlds for you, so even though new worlds are randomly generated, you can rebuild in the same ones over and over again. Your job is simple: pick the one you want to play around in, whether that's an ideal spawn location for gathering the best loot or exploring an idyllic landscape. In order to get the best Minecraft seeds up and running, grab the code and enter it into the seed field when creating a new Minecraft world. The game does all the heavy lifting, leaving you to survey your new surroundings to your heart's content. Regardless of whether you're a professional miner or someone about to load up their first world, there's something you can't control in the sandbox game: the terrain itself. So while your mind may be brimming with possibilities, all too frequently, you'll spawn in a bland, uninspiring world full of flat grassland and the odd chicken. Hardly the canvas for your masterpiece. Hence this collection of the best Minecraft seeds, from the inspiring to the functional and everything in between. Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 11:30 AM At The Game Awards 2022, Armored Core VI appeared. Now, it turns out Armored Core VI will feature Versus multiplayer, just like past games. IGN conducted an exclusive interview with FromSoftware's Masaru Yamamura. In it, he confirmed that people will be able to [Thanks, IGN!] There aren't a wealth of details about this additional mode yet. At the moment, Yamamura confirmed it will be present and an idea of its nature. However, he didn't elaborate yet. Here is the full statement Yamamura provided to IGN regarding Armored Core VI multiplayer. Yes, we do plan to have a versus mode, similar to previous Armored Core titles where you'll be able to customize your mech and take that fully customized mech into battle with others. But we will reveal more details about this at a later date. In that same response, however, Yamamura emphasized that the story mode is the priority for Armored Core VI. As such, it will not offer multiplayer options. As a reminder, Armored Core V did offer some extensive multiplayer options. Part of that involved teams of 20 players facing off to defend and take territory. People could also be a mercenary and not be permanently tied to a particular team. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in 2023. Prior to this, the last numbered installment was Armored Core V for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. The post Armored Core VI Versus Multiplayer Confirmed appeared first on Siliconera. |

Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 10:30 AM Announced in 2022, One Piece Odyssey is a new spin on the beloved manga anime, opting for JRPG and pseudo-open world elements. I had the opportunity to try the game at a preview event, which gave me more than a few hours to sink my teeth into the game. While nothing about it felt revolutionary during that handful of hours, what I played made me interested in the full release. It could potentially lay the foundation for other One Piece RPGs moving forward. The game features an entirely new story set in the One Piece universe by series creator Eiichiro Oda. Luffy and crew get transported to a mysterious new island through an interdimensional portal, which promptly sees them stranded in this strange new place. I quickly acquired the crew I would be using throughout the preview, which was a fairly large amount of characters. This consisted of Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Usopp, Chopper, Nico Robin, and Sanji, though Franky also joined my party for a brief period of time. The preview was full of exposition, setting the stage for narrative events that would unfold within just an hour of gameplay. This included an introduction to characters unique to One Piece Odyssey, like Lim, that wouldn't be out of place in the manga. However, outside of this introduction, the preview didn't allow me to get to know them in any greater capacity. Their story importance was paramount, as one such character serves as a deus ex machina of sorts that relieves Luffy and crew of their powers, so to speak. After the crew loses most of their abilities, I was introduced to the various systems that revolve around mysterious cubes that I would need to collect in order to regain my power. This included allocation of cubes to power up skills. (These could be refunded at any time, so it let me experiment and play around with certain builds.) It also afforded a peek at a Tetris-like accessory system. Everything is distributed and based around cubes, which includes equipment that you can arrange in a set square area to equip as many as possible. Combat is turn-based, but character types are important when tackling enemies. One Piece Odyssey functions on a color-based system that designates what "type" each character is. For example, Zoro is a "Green" character, which gives him an advantage over "Red" types. Nami and Usopp are "Orange" type characters, making them formidable against "Greens." It's a rock-paper-scissors kind of ordeal, or something you'd see in something like Fate/Grand Order. But where it differentiates itself is the ability to swap between party members on the fly to reposition your characters or move them up in turns to take advantage of their inherent type advantages. For example, when attacking a "Red" type enemy that would initially be delegated to Luffy (who is also a "Red" type). You can go into your menu and swap him out for Zoro or Nico Robin to deal more damage or to kill the enemy outright, since your characters are fairly strong. Making use of these type advantages made most battles trivial during the preview. That said, this level of strategic play did come in handy during longer encounters, during which I was swapping characters out and repositioning them to make the most out of their location on the battlefield to avoid damage or soak it up depending on their type. For my preview I played on the PlayStation 5. The game looked great, with cel shading making it feel all the more immersive with regard to the environments and monsters. One Piece characters still have their grossly over-exaggerated expressions in cutscenes, which helped carry over the tone of the manga into this game. Even when characters were executing flashier attacks or if I was in areas with a large amount of NPCs, the game didn't seem to buckle under the weight of it all. I was able to explore the shores of the beach the crew washed up on and the desert city of Alabasta. Both looked great. From what I experienced of One Piece Odyssey, it could prove to be an interesting RPG and an enticing new adventure for long-time fans of the series. Despite its fairly simple combat system, due to its use of positioning and character types, it could potentially allow for some interesting strategic play. That said, One Piece Odyssey feels like it could be the start of a slew of other RPGs of a similar vein for the series. One Piece Odyssey will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on January 12, 2023. The post Previews: One Piece Odyssey Feels Like the Start of Something Good appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 10:14 AM Ever since its initial launch in 2020, the playable cast of Genshin Impact characters has practically tripled in size. This means that it can be easy to forget some key details, such as their birthdays. Birthdays are usually an important affair for fans of that character, since there is an influx of official and fan-made art online. You can also get a letter and gifts (usually their signature dish and ascension materials) through the in-game mail. Here are all of the birthdays and star signs of the playable Genshin Impact characters as of the first phase of Version 3.2. January - Wanderer: January 3 (Capricorn)
It would have been cute if Wanderer's birthday had been the date that Version 3.3 appeared, since it was his "rebirth," but it's close enough!. - Thoma: January 9 (Capricorn)
So far, Thoma is the only non-Cryo character with a January birthday. He also has the stereotypical patience and dedication of a Capricorn. - Diona: January 18 (Capricorn)
Diona embodies some of the more negative Capricorn traits – she is stubborn, picky, and egocentric. But her obsession with eradicating alcohol through unconventional means stems from her genuine love of her father, Draff. - Rosaria: January 24 (Aquarius)
Whether or not Rosaria is diligent and responsible depends on who you ask and what time of day you see her. Underneath her cold exterior lies a surprisingly loyal heart. February - Beidou: February 14 (Aquarius)
Despite her rough-and-tumble personality, Beidou's birthday falls on Valentine's Day, which is perhaps the most romantic time of the year. - Sangonomiya Kokomi: February 22 (Pisces)
Kokomi uses her Pisces creativity in her combat strategies, and her unconventional methods helped the Rebel Army during the Inazuma Archon Quests. She's also fish-themed, so of course she has the sign of the fish. - Bennett: February 29 (Pisces)
In lore, Bennett is notoriously unlucky, so it is of little surprise that his birthday only comes every four years. March - Qiqi: March 3 (Pisces)
Something Genshin Impact should implement is actually letting us hang out with characters on their birthdays. For her birthday in 2022, Qiqi's only wish was to feed the finches with the Traveler, but there is no way for us to fulfill it. - Shenhe: March 10 (Pisces)
So much of Shenhe's personality is repressed due to her childhood in the mountains, but she still has the stereotypical Pisces devotion. Her dedication to protecting the Traveler and Liyue in The Crane Returns on the Wind may have garnered her plenty of fans. - Jean: March 14 (Pisces)
A lot of Jean's issues in the story stem from her inability to accept help from others until they literally force her to. #justpiscesthings - Noelle: March 21 (Aries)
Noelle is a fitting first Aries due to her stubborn personality and how headstrong she can be. A lot of her Hangout Events focus on the Traveler trying to stop her or support her in her never-ending goal to join the Knights. - Kamisato Ayato: March 26 (Aries)
Honesty is a positive trait of Aries but sometimes Ayato crosses the line into brutal honesty. April - Aloy: April 4 (Aries)
Aloy is not native to Genshin Impact, and she is a crossover character from Horizon Zero Dawn. - Xiao: April 17 (Aries)
Xiao's birthday letters are so sweet and they're the biggest hint that he is not the edgelord many online seem to think he is. His kind personality is also evident when he showed up in Ganyu's character quest and the Perilous Trail event quest. - Yelan: April 20 (Taurus)
Speaking of the Perilous Trail event, Yelan made her playable debut in this version. Yelan is practical, persistent, and patient – all positive Taurus traits. - Diluc: April 30 (Taurus)
Tauruses are good at business and Diluc, as the richest business tycoon in Mondstadt, is obviously good at his job. Though he is way too serious and does not have a sense of humor, there's no one more reliable than he is from a lore or game-play standpoint. May - Candace: May 3 (Taurus)
Candace is one of the newer entries to the list, as she only debuted in Version 3.1. She is the guardian of Aaru Village, so you know you can trust her. - Collei: May 8 (Taurus)
Collei is also one of the newer characters in Genshin Impact, and she only debuted when Sumeru did. She also played an important part in the prequel webtoon. - Gorou: May 18 (Taurus)
Gorou may look cute, but he's an incredibly trustworthy general. Like most Tauruses, he seems to lack a sense of humor. But one could forgive him considering his butt monkey status when faced with the other members of the Inazuma cast. - Yun Jin: May 21 (Gemini)
Yun Jin is our first Gemini, and she's a highly sociable creative in Liyue society. She lacks a lot of the stereotypical negative Gemini traits, and was amicable and honest in her interactions with Shenhe. - Fischl: May 27 (Gemini)
For a long while, Fischl celebrated her birthday alone until Gorou joined the cast in late 2021. Despite her oddities, the Prinzessin der Veruteilung is surprisingly sociable, with plenty of friends willing to play along with her. June - Lisa: June 9 (Gemini)
Despite being one of the debut characters, there is a lot we do not yet know about Lisa. Maybe she will have a more prominent role in a future Sumeru-based event, since she used to be a star pupil at the Akademiya. - Venti: June 16 (Gemini)
Venti is gossipy, immature, and somewhat duplicitous. Typical Gemini behavior. And yet he remains a steadfast ally for the Traveler in all of their adventures. - Yoimiya: June 21 (Cancer)
Yoimiya is the first Cancer in Genshin Impact and she embodies the best traits of the sign. She values her family and her community, and is a very friendly and generous person. Her interactions with Klee during the Irodori Festival event were precious. - Cyno: June 23 (Cancer)
Cyno debuted in Version 3.1 and, like Xiao, it is easy to mistake him as some edgelord. The man likes card games and jokes. - Raiden Shogun: June 26 (Cancer)
Cancers are emotional and hide "in their shells" when they feel hurt. Raiden Shogun literally does that. - Yae Miko: June 27 (Cancer)
Raiden Shogun's faithful familiar is never too far behind her, and the two of them probably celebrate their birthdays together. July - Kujou Sara: July 14 (Cancer)
Sara's suspicions towards various characters throughout the story stem from her job in the Tenryou Commission rather than a sensitive nature. This could also be due to how many suspicious individuals made their way to Inazuma since the region's debut. - Tartaglia: July 20 (Cancer)
Like Yoimiya, Tartaglia also highly values family, and he certainly seems friendly and generous. But who knows what he's thinking behind those dead fish eyes. - Shikanoin Heizou: July 24 (Leo)
Our first Leo is Heizou, the passionate cop. His birthday art in 2022 made waves. - Klee: July 27 (Leo)
Klee is confident and so sunny about everything that it's hard to maintain a frown when you're around her. Unless your name is Diluc, of course. - Kuki Shinobu: July 27 (Leo)
It's difficult to imagine the responsible and quiet Shinobu sharing a birthday with bubbly Klee, but she has the stereotypical generosity of her sign. - Yanfei: July 28 (Leo)
Yanfei is an incredibly unique character in Genshin Impact, as one of the few people with a well-adjusted personality and healthy parental relationships. August - Amber: August 10 (Leo)
Amber is the last Leo so far in Genshin Impact. Her generous, friendly, and honest personality made her a great first friend for many Travelers. - Faruzan: August 20 (Leo)
Since Faruzan appeared, she has not really gotten the chance to shine yet in the story or events. So we still don't know much about her outside of the fact that she's THE Anemo support you need if you main it. - Ningguang: August 26 (Virgo)
Virgos work hard and no one has worked harder than Ningguang. She climbed the ladder from a lowly merchant to the Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing. - Mona: August 31 (Virgo)
Mona is calm and intelligent, and exceedingly patient when dealing with Fischl's antics. Time will tell if she can exercise that same patience upon seeing the Wanderer and the Traveler together. September - Chongyun: September 7 (Virgo)
Chongyun is modest, helpful, and kind, but this means Xingqiu can easily take advantage of him. His 2021 letter reads almost like a confession. - Razor: September 9 (Virgo)
Razor's letters are short and sweet, but he probably spends a lot of time on them to make his handwriting as neat as possible. - Albedo: September 13 (Virgo)
Despite Albedo's propensity to appear around Christmas time like some sort of yellow Santa Claus, he is actually the final Virgo in Genshin Impact. It is quite easy to see a lot of Virgo traits in him as well. - Kamisato Ayaka: September 28 (Libra)
Ayaka is the first Libra of Genshin Impact. Hopefully, she can find more friends than just the Traveler and Thoma. October - Xingqiu: October 9 (Libra)
Xingqiu embodies some of the best Libra traits – he is intelligent and altruistic, and he has a strong sense of justice. - Xinyan: October 16 (Libra)
Xinyan can befriend everyone, as we have seen in some of the events featuring her. Hopefully, we will be able to attend one of her birthday concerts in the future. - Sayu: October 19 (Libra)
All Sayu wants is to sleep, which is incredibly relatable. - Eula: October 25 (Scorpio)
Of course Eula is a Scorpio. - Nahida: October 27 (Scorpio)
Nahida is a wildly popular character, but unfortunately, her playable debut was too late for us to get her birthday art or letters in 2022. - Kaedehara Kazuha: October 29 (Scorpio)
As we can see from his involvement in the Inazuma Archon Quests, Kazuha is a very determined, persistent, and loyal individual. He encompasses all of the best Scorpio traits. November - Xiangling: November 2 (Scorpio)
If there is one thing Xiangling has going on, it's in her passion for food. Liyue Pyro characters are about the friendliest people you could ever meet. - Keqing: November 20 (Scorpio)
Keqing is a bit of a stubborn control freak. She makes for a fitting final Scorpio. - Sucrose: November 26 (Sagittarius)
Many players have still not yet forgiven Reckless Pallad for shoving Sucrose to the ground during The Chalk Prince and The Dragon. - Kaeya: November 30 (Sagittarius)
Like Lisa, there is still a lot we do not know about Kaeya. But his extroverted and witty front has endeared him to many. December - Ganyu: December 2 (Sagittarius)
Ganyu, one of the first major Cryo DPS characters, is also the first to have a December birthday. - Nilou: December 3 (Sagittarius)
Nilou is one of the newer characters, which means we will get her first birthday art and letter soon. - Layla: December 19 (Sagittarius)
Layla debuted during the Fabulous Fungus Frenzy event and though she had some problems with physical tasks, she displayed a lot of care and empathy for the little fungi partners. Hopefully, she can find some time to sleep and rest so that she can conduct more of her research. - Dori: December 21 (Sagittarius)
If there is one thing anyone knows about co-oping with a player who main Dori, it's that she is enthusiastic and loud. - Tighnari: December 29 (Capricorn)
Like Nilou, Tighnari's 2022 debut means that players have not yet seen his birthday art or letters. Hopefully he will give some of the harder-to-obtain flora. - Zhongli: December 31 (Capricorn)
Zhongli's letters hardly mention his birthday, since he focuses more on the New Year. This also might have something to do with the fact that he is an old man. Genshin Impact is available on PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. The post All Genshin Impact Characters' Birthdays and Star Signs appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 10:00 AM Developers choosing to do what "Nintendon't" has become something of a trend in recent years. If there's a franchise that the company has left dormant too long for fans, or if they simply want more of it than is available? Indies are happy to step in and cater to those cravings with spiritual successors. Melatonin, a new game from indie developer Half Asleep, takes on the Rhythm Heaven formula with its own sort of style. Melatonin tells the story of a bout of insomnia, as the player character works through a week of nights of challenging sleep. This manifests in the form of rhythm challenges, all about the stressors of modern life. These can be as mundane as "food," or as abstract as "the future." By iterating on the ideas of Rhythm Heaven, Melatonin is a great case study on what makes the formula work. It's about catchy visuals! It's about rhythm that lets you play the game with your eyes closed if you want! And Melatonin manages both of these admirably. Where it falters a bit is in the energy and variety. Because of the sleepy theme, the tunes and visuals don't have a particular pop that helps Rhythm Heaven players better stick to the rhythm and know where they are in the level's pacing. And because the songs' tone and complexity stays relatively similar throughout, the combination challenges at the end of each night don't feel particularly special. Rhythm Heaven takes simpler approaches to individual stages, then blows out the mix for those special levels. And not only are Melatonin's tracks similar, they're also soothing. Which is sort of a problem! They occasionally fight against engagement with the gameplay, making us want to instead sit back, relax and listen. Melatonin is a more complex game in some ways, starting where Rhythm Heaven often ends and ramping up a bit from there. A simpler approach allows for a little less needed tutorialization, but Melatonin ends up needing to throw players into practice to pick up a few things before each new game. It also sometimes uses more buttons, by default the shoulders, to vary what it asks you to do. These particularly need a quick dip into practice to pick up. There's an optional training wheels setting to show these prompts as you play, but it disrupts the look and we can understand why it's off by default. Speaking of that look: it's really quite well-executed. There's an approach here with a real point of view. It's meant to capture the experience of modern young adulthood, with concerns like money and dating serving as the basis for its rhythm games. The color palette sticks to a particular wedge of the wheel, centered around purple. This does mean particular levels don't stick out as visually memorable, but it does make for a cohesive whole. Melatonin has something of the opposite effect of, well, melatonin. It more closely replicates the experience of someone who, perhaps, might need some? Given the game's theme, it would have been nice to see an easier mode that's less white-knuckle and more about entering a flow state. The main shortcoming of Melatonin is sort of unavoidable: its length. You'll breeze through its 20 stages in a couple of hours! Hard Mode gives you another level of challenge to try, which could extend things a bit. And there's even a surprisingly robust editor built into the game that's also very easy to use. This would be a lot cooler if there were a few more building blocks to use! Instead, since you're limited to what the stage already had, there's not as much variety to creations as there really should be. Is it fair to compare indie project Melatonin to the big-studio polish of Rhythm Heaven? Perhaps not. It doesn't quite reach those heights, but what it manages is well-executed. And, well, it's not exactly like we're getting flooded with games in the genre right now! So we'll appreciate the oasis in the desert. Melatonin, developed by Half Asleep, will launch on PC on December 15, 2022 for $14.99. It's slated for a Switch release soon after. Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 9:30 AM Mobile game Yakuza Online (aka Ryu ga Gotoku Online) is getting a crossover with anime series Psycho-Pass. The Yakuza Online x Psycho-Pass event is live in Japan, and runs through December 26, 2022. The crossover will see characters Akane Tsunemori, Shinya Kogami, and others from the show's cast. Players will also gain a new version of Yakuza: Like A Dragon star Ichiban Kasuga, this time dressed as an Enforcer from the show. Check out a teaser for the event below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqhUUT1HdbQ The Yakuza Online x Psycho-Pass event adds seven characters from the anime to the playable roster. All are KSR quality. Players who participate in the event will receive a copy of Akane Tsunemori's character card through daily login, with extra copies (for limit-breaking) available for meeting event goals. Accomplishing a raid-style quest against Shinya Kogami will reward points that can be redeemed for limited equipment and even existing SSR-quality characters. A Rescue-style quest will pit players against Psycho-Pass villain Shogo Makishima for more equipment. The crossover gacha banner will also feature Enforcer Ichiban Kasuga, who's dressed like a member of Psycho-Pass' Division One, complete with a Dominator handgun. Yakuza Online is a card-based free-to-play game starring characters from the Yakuza and Like A Dragon games. Its main story modes retell the sagas of Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, as well as a spin-off story following the travels of Ryuji Goda. Psycho-Pass, meanwhile, takes place in a dystopian future Japan that's ruled by the Sibyl System, a totalitarian AI-led governing body that determines a person's occupation and social standing based on their biometric status. This status is summarized in a color-coded "Hue" that signals a person's potential for criminal action. The Public Safety Bureau employs "Inspectors" paired with "Enforcers" to arrest or execute criminals. The twist: Enforcers are themselves classified as "latent criminals". The Yakuza Online x Psycho-Pass crossover event runs through December 26, 2022. The game is available on iOS and Android devices, as well as PC in Japan. Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 7:45 AM It seems that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games are heading to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. A new ratings leak appeared. This time, ratings appeared for FFI through FFVI for the PS4 and Switch via the ESRB website. None of the ratings specifically note Pixel Remaster in their title. However, each rating does match the one given to the PC versions available on Steam. Square Enix hasn't officially announced anything yet. [Thanks, Cefaluu on Reddit!] First, here's a list of links to each potential Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster PS4 and Switch ESRB rating. Each one mentions it as a 2D game. They also all note the PC version. These remasters first appeared back in 2021. The series kicked off with Final Fantasy in July 2021. It ended when FFVI showed up in February 2022. Following their complete launch, people could get a $74.82 bundle on Steam that included all six games, as well as bonus wallpapers and original soundtracks. The FFI through FFVI are available as part of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster on the PC and mobile devices, and it seems Switch and PS4 versions are also on the way. Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 7:00 AM Hidenari Ugaki, the voice actor for Goro Majima in the Yakuza / Like A Dragon games, said that he hasn't been invited to record lines for the latest game in the series. At least, not yet. The reveal came via a comment aired as part of an episode of anime series Pop Team Epic .[Thanks, Famitsu!] For those who haven't seen it, Pop Team Epic is less a narrative-driven series and more of a variety show, featuring guest personalities doing voices and skits. Some skits are adapted from the original Pop Team Epic comic strip by Bkub Okawa, and others are original gags using everything from professional 2D animation to live-action segments parodying news programs. Each roughly 30-minute episode is divided into two almost identical 15-minute halves, using different voice actors and other differences between them. The back half of episode 11 featured Goro Majima voice actor Hidenari Ugaki and Takaya Kuroda, who plays Kazuma Kiryu in the Yakuza / Like A Dragon games. Following the episode, a special segment called Pop Tuber featuring the two ad-libbing their conversation was uploaded to the official Pop Team Epic YouTube channel. Check it out below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeDvMfsvk_s During the segment, Ugaki and Kuroda talk freely about various topics. Kuroda then mentions that he's recording for "the next game" in a series that they work on together, without mentioning it by name. The hint is telling, since Kuroda and Ugaki have only worked together as voice actors on Yakuza / Like A Dragon, where Ugaki is Majima's voice actor and Kuroda is Kiryu's voice actor. Ugaki reacts in surprise, saying he hasn't heard anything about recording for it starting. Momentary panic ensues, with Ugaki jokingly demanding the producers "come out here and answer." As for which game in the Like A Dragon series Kuroda is referring to, it could be Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, or Like A Dragon 8. Chronologically speaking, Like A Dragon Gaiden would be the next game in the pipeline, as its release window is set for 2023. Like A Dragon 8 is coming out in 2024. AIt wouldn't make sense for Ugaki to be surprised about Like A Dragon: Ishin!, since he already plays Souji Okita in that game. Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023. Like A Dragon 8 will be out for the same platforms in 2024. Like A Dragon: Ishin! has a February 2023 release window on the same platforms. The post Majima Voice Actor Not Yet Invited to Record for Like A Dragon appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 6:00 AM Layla is one of the newer characters in Genshin Impact, and thus not everyone might have had time to farm her ascension materials. She debuted in Version 3.2 and is not on pick-up in the current 3.3 banner. However, for those who got her before or accidentally got her now, here are the items that you will need in order to ascend this 4-star Cryo character. The majority of characters in Genshin Impact use Talent Books and ascension materials from their own region, and Layla is no different. As a character from Sumeru, you won't need to spend too much time running around for her. Here are the items you will need for each ascension: Ascension 1: - 1 Shivada Jade Sliver
- 3 Nilotpala Lotuses
- 3 Divining Scrolls
- 20,000 Mora
Ascension 2: - 3 Shivada Jade Fragments
- 10 Nilotpala Lotuses
- 15 Divining Scrolls
- 2 Perpetual Calibers
- 40,000 Mora
Ascension 3: - 6 Shivada Jade Fragments
- 20 Nilotpala Lotuses
- 12 Sealed Scrolls
- 4 Perpetual Calibers
- 60,000 Mora
Ascension 4: - 3 Shivada Jade Chunks
- 30 Nilotpala Lotuses
- 18 Sealed Scrolls
- 8 Perpetual Calibers
- 80,000 Mora
Ascension 5: - 6 Shivada Jade Chunks
- 45 Nilotpala Lotuses
- 12 Forbidden Curse Scrolls
- 12 Perpetual Calibers
- 100,000 Mora
Ascension 6: - 6 Shivada Jade Gemstones
- 60 Nilotpala Lotuses
- 24 Forbidden Curse Scrolls
- 20 Perpetual Calibers
- 120,000 Mora
In total, you will need 420,000 Mora, 46 Perpetual Calibers, and 168 Nilotpala Lotuses. This is on top of the various gems and Scroll enemy drops. You can get Scrolls from Hilichurl Samachurls, which are literally everywhere in Teyvat. As for the Perpetual Calibers, you can get them from the Aeonblight Drake World Boss in Sumeru. You can get Nilotpala Lotuses in places like Lokapala Jungle, Devantaka Mountain, and Pardis Dhyai. Those who pulled for Tighnari earlier in Genshin Impact might already know where to get this ascension material for Layla. Even if you forgot, the Forest Watcher's passive Talent will help you (somewhat) to search for the Lotuses. For her Talents, she takes Ingenuity books, which you can find from the Steeple of Ignorance on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Her Weekly Boss Drop is the Mirror of Mushin, which you can get from Shouki no Kami. The total amount of resources you will need to fully ascend a single talent for Layla is: - 1,652,500 Mora
- 6 Divining Scrolls
- 22 Sealed Scrolls
- 31 Forbidden Curse Scrolls
- 3 Teachings of Ingenuity
- 21 Guides to Ingenuity
- 38 Philosophies of Ingenuity
- 6 Mirrors of Mushin
- 1 Crown of Insight
Because Layla's shield relies on her HP, it might be good to level her up in order to take advantage of that. You can also use her as just a Cryo applier and save your resources for someone else. Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. You can get Layla as a permanent 4-star character from the gacha. Siliconera Monday, December 12, 2022 5:00 AM Jun Kazama in Tekken 8 is a playable character. Tekken Series Director Katsuhiro Harada confirmed the fact during a panel following the Tekken World Tour 2022 North America Regional Finals. Jun has been missing and presumed dead since her first appearance in Tekken 2. She showed up in other Tekken games, but only as a flashback or cameo. She was last playable in 2012's Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and 2013's Tekken Revolution, which are not considered "canon." Harada also confirmed that Jun never actually died, and only went missing. Exactly why she was gone all that time might be explained as part of Tekken 8's story. The panel also saw Harada and Tekken Series Producer Michael Murray show off some early concept art of Jun Kazama in Tekken 8. Jun's design comes from artist Mari Shimazaki, who designed the main cast of Bayonetta, Josie Rizal and Kazumi Mishima from Tekken 7, and the cast of anime series Luck & Logic. https://twitter.com/BNEesports/status/1602091664134221825 Besides the playability of Jun Kazama in Tekken 8, Harada and Murray also emphasized some other key points from the recent trailer aired at the 2022 Game Awards. Factors like environmental destruction, Rage Art super moves, and the three-dimensional "side-stepping" mechanics will continue to be important in the new game. The newer "Heat System" will be activated by executing certain moves, but also by other factors that will be revealed at a later date. The Heat System is designed to encourage "aggressive" play by enhancing characters' abilities and moves. In a follow-up Tweet, Harada also said that Tekken 7 had passed the 10 million sales milestone, as well as surpassing over 54 million sales over the series' lifetime. He thanked fans for their support over the years. https://twitter.com/Harada_TEKKEN/status/1601849013069750273 Tekken 8 will launch on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X. It does not yet have a release date.
