     Vampire Survivors weapon evolution guide

What are the Vampire Survivors weapon evolution combos? Though things are slowing down, the roguelike indie game has had plenty of updates as players discover the joy of walking around forests, caves, libraries, or castle corridors. Along the way, you'll slay an ever-growing encroaching horde of monsters wanting to nibble on your flesh.

Vampire Suirvivors is a relatively simple yet viral indie game to understand, but it was also one of the best PC games of 2022. However, mastering it and unlocking Vampire Survivors characters can get tricky if you don't specify the correct build. Unfortunately, you only have a few slots for weapons and items, so choose carefully. With the introduction of adventures and the debut of the Among Us beans in the Emergency Meeting DLC, it's worth reminding yourself how Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions work and what you need to do to discover the new ones.

Outlast style paranormal horror game launches on Steam to 82% rating

Students at Taiwan's Tunghai University have created one of the creepier campus legends. Dubbed 'The Bridge Curse,' Tunghai attendees claim that the ghost of a young woman haunts a bridge, waiting for an extra step on the staircase leading up to it to appear at midnight and asking those who pass by her for the time. Naturally, given how widespread this story has become, it's gone on to inspire viral stunts, a movie, and a spin off videogame based on that film called The Bridge Curse Road to Salvation. Now, two years after the first game's launch, its creators have returned to the ghostly legend for a sequel, putting out The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication today on Steam.

Paradox Interactive is responsible for some of the best strategy games ever made. Over the decades, the publisher has put out or created beloved entries to the genre ranging from Crusaders Kings 3 and Victoria 3 to Europa Universalis 4 and Hearts of Iron 4. Back in 2016, it also put out Stellaris, a science fiction take on 4X games that saw Paradox shift its focus from placing its work in historical settings and move into the realm of science fiction.      Corsair's new gaming SSD is yours if you have a spare $640

Corsair has just revealed the MP700 Pro SE, its latest PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD, and the speeds it advertises are very impressive if not quite the fastest we've seen to date. In addition to the high advertised sequential read and write speeds of the Corsair MP700 Pro SE, which are quoted at 14,000MB/s and 12,000MB/s respectively, Corsair also boasts that the MP700 Pro SE has great random access speeds, meaning it should offer fast performance beyond just massive file transfers.

On paper, the Corsair MP700 Pro SE quite simply looks like one of the best SSDs for gaming, but this may change once we have the chance to put it to the test. It's also worth noting that, despite the impressive numbers, the Crucial T705 advertises higher sequential speeds and is readily available with a heatsink in the box already.

Best Valorant crosshairs used by streamers and pros May 2024

What are the Valorant crosshair codes? Valorant Crosshairs became more complex and customizable then ever with changes made in March 2022. With a complex-looking string of numbers, letters, and symbols, you can change your in-game sights to match players from your favorite esports teams such as DRX, Fnatic, or Team Liquid, or make your own entirely.

Many of the best PC games with pro teams like to come up with ways for FPS game players to show allegiance to their favorite players. For example, Rainbow Six Siege has charms and Valorant has gun buddies. Custom crosshairs take things to another level though, and can even help you achieve a similar level of accuracy as the pros, too. Different colors or sizes can make your crosshair stand out more, potentially affecting your accuracy. We've collected Valorant crosshair codes for all of the big teams in one place, so you don't have to go hunting around too much to equip your favorite Valorant characters with your chosen sight. Jump to the bottom if you need to know how to import Valorant crosshairs.

Ah, it feels like only yesterday that Microsoft shut down Tango Gameworks, creators of Hi-Fi Rush, and now here's Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, telling Microsoft staff at an internal townhall meeting that "we need smaller games that give us prestige and awards" - a sentence we might plausibly lengthen to "...like Hi-Fi Rush".

See, these are the kinds of glacial changes of focus and ponderous shifts of strategy you often get at very large videogame publishers such as Microsoft. Trends are cyclical and corporations are sort of just these massive, sleepy hamsters, trundling around the wheel to rediscover practices and projects they once deemed bad for business. I spent this morning being pseudo-profound about Animal Well and pseudo-elegaic about Tango Gameworks, so now it's time to get back to the Real Business - being a pseud on the subject of videogame gun balancing.

The game in question is cheery co-op shooter Helldivers 2, over which Aunty Sony recently upended a can of furious worms by abruptly insisting that Steam players have a PSN account for security reasons and so, blocking players in regions where PSN isn't available. Sony have subsequently walked back the requirement following a backlash of truly hellish proportions, though I understand that the game remains unavailable on Steam in certain regions. By comparison, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt's remarks overnight that the developers might have been "removing the fun" with their gun balancing seem pretty innocuous.

James isn't here, so Nate makes up some hardware news that's very exciting and yet disturbing, while he does have a mythology-themed mini game in the tower of jocularity. Plus: the games we've been playing this week, including a cute survival horror and RimWorld, still. Also, Nate asks me to explain what the hap was heckening with Helldivers 2, and if Joel remains safe.

You can listen above, or on on Spotify, iTunes, Stitcher, or Pocket Casts. You can find the RSS feed here, and you can discuss the episode on our Discord channel, which has a dedicated room for podcast chat.

When I asked Tango Gameworks creative director John Johanas whom he'd give Hi-Fi Rush's Best Audio trophy away to at this year's GDC Awards, he said he'd split it between the game's audio team and "the person who taught me everything I know" - Shinji Mikami, Tango's founder and one of the erstwhile Capcom and Platinum big brains behind Resident Evil, Vanquish and much more besides. I confess, I found this response annoying - partly because I was hoping Johanas would bring up some obscure indie composer I could then namecheck at parties, and partly, because I have spent years waiting for Tango to escape Mikami's shadow after essentially announcing themselves as a Mikami fan project back in 2010.

My older brother (as opposed to "big"; my younger brother is my big brother, because he's built like the kind of hearty giant in a JRPG who laughs a lot and carries an anchor as a weapon, while my older brother is a loathsome scribbling wizard like myself) is a gamer in a very normal sense. He was way more online when he was younger, and is the one who got me into the games of Lucasfilm, Troika and Blizzard, but these days he plays the games he likes a lot and does not read specialist websites that tell him why he shouldn't like them. He used to play loads of League Of Legends, but the game he was most into more recently was Hades. This is because he studied Classics.

I won't tell you how many years its been since he was at university, but for many years - and still sort of now, to be honest - "liking Apollo" was a key part of his personality. It's interesting, therefore, to text him about Hades 2. Partly because he wasn't even aware it was happening.

Computers have always been animal wells, in a sense. They're havens for creatures of many shapes and degrees of literalness, all the way down to the metal. As in ecologies at large, the most abundant and widespread are probably the bugs, beginning with the moth that flew into that Harvard Mark II in 1947 and ending with the teeming contents of the average free-to-play changelog. A little further up the food chain we find "worms", like the Creeper that once invaded the ARPANET, and "gophers", a directory/client system written in 1991 for the University of Minnesota. There are computer animals spawned by branding - foxes of fire and twittering birds and the anonymous beasts that haunt the margins of Google documents. There are computer animals that are implied by the verbs we use in computing - take "browser", derived from the old French word for nibbling at buds and sprouts, which suggests that all modern internet searches are innately herbivorous.

How to best describe strategy game Be the Ruler: Britannia when its alchemic reduction of traditionally full-on genres is what drew me to its free Steam prologue in the first place? A less demanding Manor Lords? A more casual Crusader Kings III? Total War with training wheels? It's got shades of all these games, but thrown together with a wonderfully vibrant wood craft art style. It ends up as something I feel is going to be a lot more approachable for players who like the idea of massive medieval simulations but don't care to spend time reading a Magna Carta-fat wiki to learn exactly what pop growth percentage is. I know what it is, and most days I wish I'd saved that brain space to e.g learn how to keep house plants alive instead.

KLab working on hybrid casual mobile game based on Bleach Thousand Year Blood War anime

KLab announced that it acquired consent from the Bleach production committee to develop a new hybrid casual mobile game based on the series' Thousand-Year Blood War anime. The new game will support Japanese and English, and it will be available in almost all countries and regions worldwide, except for Mainland China.

In its press release, KLab described "hybrid casual game" as a model that combines the simplicity of casual games and the long-term playability of online games. The game will also generate profits from both microtransactions and advertisements.

KLab did not specify the platforms for the new game. However, it placed its press release on PRTimes under the "Smartphone Game" category. Therefore, this new title will appear on mobile devices.

KLab has previously released a Bleach live service game, and it is still ongoing as of May 2024. Bleach: Brave Souls originally came out for Android and iOS mobile devices. The company gradually added PC (Steam) and PlayStation 4 to its platform lineup. Brave Souls had recorded over 70 million downloads as of November 2022; that number has since been updated to 90 million in late April 2024.

The new Bleach hybrid casual game will be available worldwide on mobile devices.

Review: Crow Country Celebrates the Survival Horror Genre

In recent years, the unstoppable craving for an old-school survival horror revival has been growing within me. It seems I'm not the only one feeling that way, as various indie developers expanded on some of my favorite aspects of the genre, with excellent games like developers Jasper Byrne's Lone Survivor and rose-engine's Signalis. Now Crow Country joins the list by offering a true-to-form classic survival horror adventure that draws inspiration from and pays tribute to PS1-era titles, all while doing its own original thing.

The game takes players back to 1990 Atlanta, Georgia, and it starts when protagonist Mara Forest breaks into the eponymous Crow Country abandoned theme park. Her job is to find the owner Edward Crow, due to his daughter filing a missing persons report. As Mara delves deeper into the creepy locale, she discovers a plethora of terrible monsters roaming the park, putting anyone that approaches the place in danger. Determined to discover the secret hiding behind these creatures and Edward's disappearance, she pushes forward. Throughout the game, she meets a variety of characters that found themselves drawn to the place. While their reasons for being there differ, their motivations are the same: investigating the monsters that roam the park and the cause and consequences of their appearance.

I really enjoyed the story in Crow Country. The central mystery is engaging and unique, and it keeps things simple and easy to follow. The environmental storytelling is also very effective, with the park having plenty of files that go into the history and creation of the place. One of the things I appreciated the most about the story is how the narrative is confident enough to not overexplain how and why everything happens, leaving just enough unanswered and ambiguous. After all, desperately trying to seek answers for things we don't understand can lead to unforeseen consequences.

The setting of a theme park is ideal for a horror game, and I thought that Crow Country effectively uses this concept to its full potential. Using a creepy theme park as the setting for a horror game allows the layout to feel like the Spencer Mansion in the original Resident Evil without the puzzles feeling out of place. Furthermore, Crow Country expands on the concept of a location like the Lakeside Amusement Park in Silent Hill 3, showing different flavors of horror with the contrast between the run-down public facing areas and the fenced-off staff rooms and corridors. While its main fairytale area is supposed to be charming, the decay and abandonment has rendered it eerie and unwelcoming. Its tacky haunted mansion-style zone wouldn't really scare anyone under normal circumstances, but given the situation I felt like I was being effectively gaslit into doubting whether what was threatening me was a part of the fictional spectacle or if I was truly in danger.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFFvZgDsUOI

The gameplay loop in Crow Country will be very familiar to those that have played any early Silent Hill and Resident Evil entries. The park is divided in different sized "rooms" and areas, similar to Resident Evil, while the inventory system veers closer to Silent Hill. Mara carries all her weapons and items all the time, reducing frustration and making puzzles more about the experience than backtracking to safe rooms. The game uses a limited camera angle that players can freely rotate. Not being able to see clearly made the game pretty frightening in my experience. This coupled with some weird things that start happen as the plot moves forward, I found myself always on edge. Even after I cleared up a room full of enemies, I felt like I couldn't trust myself.

As with all PS1 survival horror games, combat is de-emphasized in Crow Country. Aiming weapons is slow and locks you in place, while shooting enemies from up close deals more damage but puts you at risk of being hit. Mara starts with a pistol and can find a shotgun, a magnum, and a flamethrower, as well as being able to use grenades to deal with various enemies at once. While the guns only offer different damage values, I really enjoyed the flamethrower as an AoE weapon, as well as how the pistol also serves as a tool for solving some puzzles or interacting with boxes and bottles, creating an interesting item economy.

The visual direction for Crow Country is one of the strongest suits of the game. It captures that low-fi feel that games like the original Resident Evil had, while keeping things modern and crisp. Mara is very well animated, and the chunky 3D character models mesh very well with the environments. The enemies are extremely freaky looking and uncanny. Finding a new unspeakable horror in Crow Country is always awfully refreshing. In fact, I would often leave rooms as fast as possible when finding new enemies to try and gather myself before counting my bullets and healing items, deciding if I wanted to tackle whatever I just saw. (Often opting to just bail.) The soundtrack of the game was composed by Ockeroid, and it is equally as fantastic as the visuals. One of the reasons I was so tense while playing is thanks to the oppressive and chilling soundtrack, which also gets a chance to be playful and breathe at times.

It took me approximately 6-7 hours to beat the game. And, even though it felt like the right length, I still wanted to spend more time in the park. After completing it, I spent a few hours trying to find as many secrets as I could and completing some of the optional content that unlocks after seeing the ending. The only blemish I found in an otherwise spotless experience was being unable to unlock one of the weapon upgrades available in the game after completing the required challenge. Fortunately, this is something that a patch would easily fix.

Crow Country is one of those games that answer all of my needs for an old-school survival horror title. The game isn't shy about its inspirations and it is a clear homage to PS1 survival horror games. While it is a somewhat short experience, Crow Country shows that sometimes less is more. And I want more of this.

Crow Country comes out on May 10, 2024 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

star rail if i can stop one heart from breaking

HoYoVerse uploaded the EP of "If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking" from Honkai: Star Rail. The video itself features some spoilers from the Penacony story quests.

You can watch the EP here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDcPpQHAEro

It features the full version of "If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking" from Honkai: Star Rail, with singer Chevy providing the vocals. You can hear the entire song in-game if you have the track for the Phonograph and you set your parlor car's coach music as it. No matter which YouTube account you watch it from, the song will be in English and with multiple subtitle tracks. Because 2.2 came out only a day or so ago (as of the time of writing), the EP does not feature any scenes from there. But if you're behind on the 2.0 and 2.1 story quests, you might not want to watch the video, as it includes key scenes from those patches.

Chevy sang all of the songs Robin sings in Honkai: Star Rail. You can hear her singing in all versions of the game. She performs all of Robin's songs, including "Sway to My Beat," which what she performs in-game when you use her Ultimate. You could also hear this song in one of the trailers HoYoVerse released prior to the official playable debut of Robin.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

nintendo switch twitter

Nintendo of America announced that as of June 10, 2024, you will no longer be able to post to X (Twitter) or send friend requests to social media users from the Friend Suggestions feature on the Switch. While Nintendo will still support Facebook, there is a chance that it will remove this in the future as well.

This also came up on the official Nintendo website. As mentioned earlier, this will only affect X (Twitter). You will no longer be able to post screenshots and videos from the Album. This will also affect things like Smash World for Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Splatoon 3. Nintendo will also remove the ability to send friend requests to people you know via social media. However, this is only on the Switch. You'll still be able to do so on smart devices, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U.

It's unclear why Nintendo of America will be removing this feature. Some note that it likely has to do with how the price of API access is more expensive compared to in the past. Back in 2023, Sony removed X (Twitter) integration on the PS4 and the PS5. When Elon Musk introduced the price hike in 2023, companies would need to pay $42,000 a month at minimum in order to have X (Twitter) API integration.

The Nintendo Switch will no longer support sending photos or videos from the Album to X (Twitter) on June 10, 2024.

nijisanji soju asap club

As a result of a Nijisanji Japanese Vtuber stream in which staff and streamers suggested mixing energy drinks with soju, the Japanese government released a reminder about the dangers of caffeine and alcohol. It noted that not only is overconsumption of caffeine drink like this dangerous, but you risk taking too much of both it and alcohol if you mix the drinks together.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in Japan posted a reminder on X (Twitter) regarding the dangers of mixing energy drinks with alcohol. This is a direct response to the stream, as apparently some people had to go to the hospital for heart arrhythmia after they tried Nijisanji JP's soju and energy drink concoction. As a note, we could not find any news stories or tweets confirming the hospital trips. However, it is dangerous to drink a cocktail that's 1:1 energy drink and soju.

The stream took place on May 7, 2024 and featured Kanae and Kuzuha. They are two of the biggest Nijisanji VTubers on the JP side. During the stream, the two of them introduced some of Anycolor staff's recommendations for how to mix ASAP Club with other drinks . The first method involved a cocktail with equal amounts of Chamisul soju and ASAP Club. This is, according to the government, not safe.

ASAP Club, which is the energy drink company that sponsored the drink, also posted a Tweet about the controversy. It claimed that it confirmed with various experts that a mixture of ASAP Club and Chamisul is safe, though you shouldn't drink too much of it. It brought up oolong-hai (shochu with oolong tea, which has caffeine) as a comparison. As a note, most oolong-hai cocktails do not have a 1:1 ratio of oolong tea and shochu. It is hard to compare the caffeine or alcohol content of these two drinks.

The Nijisanji, Kuzuha, and Kanae X (Twitter) accounts have made no mention of the incident.

Genshin Impact PS4 Visual Performance Will Drop Soon

HoYoVerse announced that the 5.0 update for Genshin Impact will make it look prettier on some platforms, however that will also mean a visual performance hit for ones like the PS4. It didn't offer examples or details, but said all PS4 models will be affected.

HoYoVerse specifically said Genshin Impact will look different on the PS4 and select Android and iOS devices after the update. While the overall improvements being made for 5.0 mean all PS4 versions are affected, only people with Android and iOS phones and tablets with certain processors will notice any negative changes. So A12 iOS devices like some iPads, iPad Airs, and iPad Minis, the iPhone XR, and the iPhone XS models will all be included. If someone has an Android device and it uses a Dimensity 1200 (8050), a Kirin 9000SL, a Samsung Exynos 1080, or a Snapdragon 865, the game won't look as good there.

The announcement also noted specific examples of how it could look different. Here is what HoYoVerse said to expect:

When playing the game on the devices mentioned above, the resolution of some image details and smaller objects will decrease, the effect range of some special effects will decrease, etc.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. There's no release date for the 5.0 Genshin Impact update just yet. The 4.6 update appeared on April 24, 2024, and HoYoVerse already started teasing the 4.7 characters like Sigewinne the Melusine

Reynatis Release Date and NEO TWEWY Crossover Announced

NIS America and FuRyu announced the Reynatis release date and confirmed there will be a TWEWY crossover with NEO The World Ends with You. We will see it on September 27, 2024 outside Japan, following its July 25, 2024 Japanese debut.

The Reynatis NEO TWEWY comes following an April Fools' Day 2024 joke that suggested the The World Ends with You series would end up tied to the new RPG. At the time, it just made the official website feature the other title's key art. This is because both are set in the "real world." The actual game will apparently bring in characters and enemies from the Square Enix title as possible encounters.

Here's the key art for that announcement, which shows Rindo alongside Marin.

NIS America also confirmed everything in the Reynatis Limited Edition again. For $99.99, people get a copy of the game, an art book, a mini soundtrack CD, a multi-panel art print with characters from the game shown, and an acrylic art panel.

The Reynatis globalrelease date is September 27, 2024. It will launch in Japan on July 25, 2024. People will be able to play it on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.

Review: Little Kitty, Big City Makes Every Day Caturday

Did you play Untitled Goose Game and love it, but also wish that maybe you didn't have to be so mean? Well, Little Kitty, Big City offers the same sort of animal antics, only with more innocent mischief and an array of additional critters that make a city feel like a welcoming, living community.

Little Kitty, Big City begins with a comedy of errors. A small cat living in a penthouse apartment is lounging outside the window, sleeping. During this nap, they slip. A series of outside interference, such as a dog barking and a crow flying by, result in the animal landing on the street below. Too sapped of strength to commit to the arduous climb back to their home, it's up to the cat to find fish to build up stamina and return home. Eventually.

Like Untitled Goose Game, Little Kitty, Big City is a game that involves a small animal exploring a town and interacting with the individuals who love there. However, while the goose was an antagonistic force determined to disrupt the peaceful village, the cat is an innocent, well-intentioned sweetheart who wants the best for the creatures around them as they also attempt to find some fish to eat. However, in the process of doing things for others and themselves, they… basically can also end up ruining a human's day. Think of it as this being a hero of one story is the villain of another sort of situation.

Given the kitty is just, well, a cat, there are a handful of options for interacting with and exploring the world. When you first land in the city, you can swat with your paws. This can be an effective way of batting balls places or knocking down people. You can get the zoomies, which lets the kitty run around. It's a faster way to move around or barrel into people or objects. Items can be picked up in your mouth to take them places. You can pull certain boxes. It is also possible to jump, which can allow you to reach higher places or pounce on birds. Eventually, you gain access to a Petwork, which lets you fast travel via manholes, and eating your first fish grants the ability to climb up ivy-covered areas as long as your stamina allows. Also, as this is a world where apparently all animals, birds, and bugs speak the same language, you can converse with creatures you come across to get quests.

Which often leads to the parts of Little Kitty, Big City that bring a player the most joy. Not only the kitty, but every critter you encounter is a delight. The script is absolutely fantastic. It's adorable, clever, and hilarious. Each animal, bird, or bug has their own personality, making it a delight whenever someone new enters your virtual life. The animations for animals, especially the cat's emotes, are fun. While I appreciate what is there, it made me wish there were double or triple the number of supporting characters, given they are handled so well. Not to mention, every single one of them looks amazing. I love them all.

The activities are also a ball. I relished undertaking each quest. Even if it ended up being something of a fetch quest, the actions needed to accomplish it usually made it feel more special and entertaining than it would in a normal game. Especially since in some cases, you do need to think, "Okay, how can I, as a cat, get this done?" Working out how to find and eat fish, get the shinies needed for new hats, or reach a place for a reward was never boring or tedious.

There's only one thing that got to me and keep me from considering Little Kitty, Big City a perfect game. The platforming elements can be awkward. Some challenges involve quick moves with a human in pursuit and either small spaces or water hazards. Getting the jumping or zoomies timing just right in these moments can be a bit tricky. I also encountered some issues while scaling a certain apartment building and moving between platforms. One jump involving some scaffolding led to a major drop and lost progress, and my quickly loading a past save to ensure I didn't end up with a save that lost a lot of work. One conversation involving some NPCs in that same building also displayed awkwardly, not showing the kitty or any NPCs and cutting off the text boxes a bit due to the positioning. Still, these are minor issues, and a patch came in after that event segment that makes me suspect that one issue could have already been fixed.

Little Kitty, Big City makes me happy. It isn't the most addictive game I played in 2024. (That's Balatro.) It isn't the one I spent the most time exploring. (FFVII Rebirthtakes that title.) What it did do is bring me a sense of solace and joy as I savored the antics of an extremely personable cat and their friends. So much so that my greatest wish is an expansion that opens up even more of the city to explore and additional animal encounters.

Little Kitty, Big City is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

BigmodeBetter than Basketball, like Halo 2 meets Halo 3—these are some of the phrases Dunkey used to describe BigMode's debut release, Animal Well. After playing through their exciting venture into the world of gaming, all I can say is that it's exactly what the game market needs and it's precisely the type of Indie title I would expect from Dunkey's new studio. A charming 2D Metroidvania Anyone who has been following Dunkey and his many varied and hilarious videos will know that he is very particular about what he likes. Japanese turn-based RPGs are out, and side-scrolling platformers are in. Super Mario Brothers 2 has won his Game of the Year award more times than anything else, and while this is, in part, a running joke, there is some truth to it. Animal Well combines a few of the elements Dunkey loves to see in gaming, and it does them very well. Visually, Animal Well is very beautiful, with its gentle neon glows, detailed and carefully built maps, and a...

Manor Lords is another one of those games that suddenly explodes onto the Steam charts without the benefits of a carefully planned hype campaign, trailer drops, placement on major sites, or preview campaign. Suddenly, everyone is playing it and it's outranking major games you've heard of from major publishers. And what I learned from D.A.R.E. […]
