What are the best platform games on PC? Back in the '90s and early '00s, you couldn't escape the countless platformers and mascot characters catering to console gamers. However, apart from the likes of Commander Keen, Jazz Jackrabbit, and Duke Nukem, the PC got very little love. Thankfully, this stigma has lessened since those days, and we owe that in large part to the explosion of indies that have flooded onto digital storefronts over the past decade or so.

The best platform games have garnered a reputation for requiring mechanical mastery and sublime timing to complete them, but developers continue to push the genre forward by introducing RPG game elements and Metroidvania game maps. Platforming can also be a staple mechanic in some of the best story games, as demonstrated in releases like Celeste and Ori and the Blind Forest. With so much to choose from, here are the best platformers on PC.

I'll let you in on a secret: I don't play soulslikes for the bosses. While there are some obvious outliers, most resolve into the same routine of dodges and parries, a DDR-style learning curve of tactile rhythm designed to test your muscle memory. The euphoria of beating a boss reaches its zenith in soulslikes, but it's a fleeting satisfaction. Instead, it's everything between bosses that sustains me. Lucky for me, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers seizes the soulslike tradition of rich and diverse world presentation and runs.

Splitgate 2 is being taken "back to beta" by developers 1047 Games, who say it "launched too early" and are now planning to rerelease it next year. The move has reportedly seen the studio lay off 45 workers, and they've confirmed that the original Splitgate's servers will be shutting down in a month's time.

The news comes following a mixed launch reception for the portal-filled shooter, which likely wasn't helped by studio CEO Ian Proulx controversially announcing that it was going live while wearing a MAGA-style "Make FPS Great Again" hat on stage at Summer Game Fest. The exec subsequently apologised for that boneheaded publicity stunt.

VShojo Store Now Inaccessible

The VShojo Store is, as of 11:30pm ET on July 22, 2025, unavailable online. If someone attempts to reach any page on the site, it will display a message that states it "is currently unavailable." It is not possible to log into an account, and the only link on the page prompts someone to enter a password to gain access. The company made no statement on its social media account or official website, and CEO Justin "Gunrun" Ignacio hasn't made any statement online.

This comes after every Vtuber with VShojo announced they would part ways with the company. On July 21, 2025, following the departure of members like Geega and Zentreya, Ironmouse announced VShojo owed her money and hadn't made an over $500,000 donations to the Immune Deficiency Foundation charity from her subathon. Between then and July 22, 2025, every performer associated with it announced intentions to leave and become indies. So did some of the individuals who had passed previous auditions to join the company as Vtubers.

VShojo has yet to make a statement about the situation as of 11:40pm ET on July 22, 2025. This means the status of any orders placed by individuals at the VShojo Store is also unknown. The contact page for orders involved a form that would ask for someone's name, email and phone number when live. The contact section on the company's site only goes to pr@vshojo.com

VShojo was founded in November 2020 by Justin "Gunrun" Ignacio, Phillip "MowtenDoo" Fortunat, and Daniel "Apek" Sanders, though Fortunat left the company in May 2025. Since the announcement by Ironmouse, Fortunat commented on social media with a message directed at Fortunat.

abyss miner trello board

Abyss Miner feels like playing a Roblox adaptation of Made in Abyss with so many areas to venture into and explore with different ores, creatures and secrets. Luckily, there's a Trello to get a full overview of all content in the game so that you can be prepared. Here are the official Abyss Miner Trello board and Discord server.

Abyss Miner Trello and Discord Guide

abyss miner trello board and discord server guide
Image via The Abyss Dwellers

Here are all useful links you'll need to dive into Abyss Miner informed and ready:

I would dive into the Trello first and foremost since it's both a Wiki for the game and a guide. There are community walkthroughs there for each sector as well as a full overview of everything you can find and encounter. It's got info on:

  • Basic mechanics for beginners
  • All Sectors and Layers
  • All Ranks
  • All Main Tools like pickaxes, heavy pickaxes, drills, fists and spears
  • All Equipment
  • All NPCs
  • All Nodes and Ores
  • All Creatures and Creature drops
  • All Traps
  • Walkthroughs and guides

Then I would check out the official Discord for more specific information both for in-game content and general game updates. The Announcement and Updates channels are the best way to stay tuned to new patches, new content, changes, buff, nerfs, adjustments, and reworks. You can even participate in Polls for new content and developer-community checks.

That said, the Discord is also a place where you can find channels for Questions to experienced players and also a Players Guide. Lastly, it's a place to share creations and progress with your fellow divers and miners. My favorite channel are the Abyss Montages where you can see what other players are discovering in the game.

That's it for my Abyss Miner Trello board and Discord server guide. Stay tuned to our Roblox guides page for more Roblox content.

Three kpop singers singing together in kpop demon hunters next to riri williams with an iron mask floating above her head in ironheart

Another week has arrived, which means it's time to tune in for some more entertaining content. This week, we're delving into a movie and a show, so there's plenty to explore regardless of what kind of content you're looking for.

The two projects we're discussing this week are Netflix's original animated film Kpop Demon Hunters and Marvel's latest show Ironheart. These two were pleasant surprises and some of the best content I've seen so far this year, so let's get into it.

I first saw the trailer for Kpop Demon Hunters a few months ago, and thought it looked like a fun film, but certainly didn't expect it to be a masterpiece. It really surprised me, though, and is so good that I've gone back and rewatched it.

This film is by Sony Pictures Animation, so it's got a similar look and feel to the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse series. This type of animation is one of my personal favorites, so I was already excited based on the aesthetics alone.

Kpop Demon Hunters greatly exceeded my expectations, though, with a compelling storyline, catchy tunes, emotional moments, vibrant visuals, and so much more. It's easily one of my favorite films I've seen all year, and it's such a pleasant surprise I wasn't expecting at all.

The saja boys in kpop demon hunters
Image via Netflix

The film follows HUNTR/X, a K-pop girl group that sings to protect the world from demons and also fights against them in their spare time. Just as they're finally getting close to creating a perfect protective barrier around the world, a group of demons comes to the overworld disguised as a K-pop boy band called the Saja Boys.

This group starts stealing away their fans, which is the source of their power, so they must work to get them back before it's too late. The lead singer of HUNTR/X, Rumi, is also secretly part demon, so most of the plot centers around this.

There are some genuinely emotional moments and some surprisingly solid messages you can take away from this movie. It's a good time all around, especially if you enjoy a film that's not quite a musical but does feature some music throughout. I haven't been able to stop listening to "Golden" and "Your Idol" since I finished watching it, and I'm hoping to see sequels or a spin-off show in the future.

I also finally got around to finishing Ironheart this week. So far, I've enjoyed every Marvel show that's been released on Disney+, but I've found that the ones that lean into being weird and different are always the best. My personal favorites, for example, are WandaVision and Loki.

I was always going to watch Ironheart, as I stay caught up with everything going on in Marvel, but I certainly didn't expect it to end up being one of my top MCU shows. I had a very similar experience with Agatha All Along, which also surprised me.

Ironheart picks up the storyline that began in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as we see what Riri Williams, a teen genius tech inventor who makes suits like Iron Man, has been up to since then. She ends up caught in a world of technology and magic, and must navigate through it while also grappling with some intense grief after losing her best friend and stepdad.

A close up shot of riri williams face in her suit with tech and magic swirling around her in ironheart
Image via Disney+

At its core, Ironheart is a really fun story grounded by some seriously emotional moments. Riri Williams is one of the most compelling and complex characters we've seen in the MCU so far, and you'll root for her every step of the way. If you're a fan of the comics, you'll also love two of the characters who show up in this one. This includes (spoiler warning) The Hood and Mephisto, both of whom are absolute scene stealers.

As good as Ironheart is, I'm worried it's going to take a while for Riri Williams' story to be continued. This is kind of the trend with most Marvel shows, though, as iconic characters get introduced in grand ways only to have their storylines left incomplete.

Characters like Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel are examples of this, to name just a few. Hopefully, this won't be the last we see of Ironheart, The Hood, and Mephisto, especially with the cliffhanger the series ended on. Even if it is, though, you won't regret watching this one.

This week, I've also already gone back to the theater to watch Superman again because it was just that good. I've got tickets for Fantastic Four on Thursday night, too, and I've got really high expectations for that one, so hopefully it meets them.

So, Destructoid, what have you been watching this week? Have you had the chance to check out Kpop Demon Hunters or Ironheart yet, and if not, do you plan to? And is there anything else you've been enjoying lately? Let us know down in the comments below so we can discuss!

Square Enix's Tackling Final Fantasy XI Asura Congestion

Square Enix announced that, as a result of sudden congestion on the the Asura World in Final Fantasy XI, the company will enforce measures to help alleviate the issue. Producer and Director Yoji Fujito took to the official site to announce three efforts will be enacted to help spread out the current Final Fantasy MMORPG population and make it easier for everyone to play it and enjoy it. While action isn't immediately happening to address the issue, it will start on July 29, 2025.

There are three measures being taken to help ease the pressure on the Asura Final Fantasy XI world and hopefully mitigate congestion. One is that it will temporarily be impossible for anyone who doesn't already already have a character on that world to make a new character there. If you already do have one, you can make another. It will also be temporarily impossible for people on other Worlds to use the World Transfer Service to move there. It also noted the Vana'diel Adventurer Recruitment program, which lets people get items like Copper AMAN Vouchers, the Guide and Sprout Beret cosmetics, and items like a Detonator Belt, Miniature Airship, and Timepiece, temporarily doesn't apply to that World.

While Final Fantasy XI is the oldest MMORPG in the series, as it debuted in May 2002, it is still quite active and Square Enix continues to invest in and develop it. For example, a race change service for player avatrs finally appeared in 2025. There are also Limbus updates in the works.

Final Fantasy XI is available on PCs, and Asura congestion measures will start on July 29, 2025.

Bunny Girl Cammy Street Fighter 6 Figure Is Buff

Freeing showed off its new Street Fighter 6 figure, which is a bunny girl version of Cammy. She'll show up in Japan in December 2025. She'll cost ¥38,500. Big Bad Toy Store is the only retailer shipping worldwide showing a listing for it as of time of writing. Its expecting it to ship in March 2026, and it said it will cost $374.99 before tariff surcharges.

Cammy will be a 1/4 scale figure, and she'll stand at almost 17 inches tall (430mm). It's a static statue locked in a pose with her flexing with her arms behind her. She's wearing her typical green swimsuit, paired with red bunny ears that match her standard red gloves and boots. There's a black bunny tail on her back, and she has on black, fabric fishnet tights.

Here's a closer look at it from different angles:

We saw another Street Fighter 6 bunny girl figure from Freeing not too long ago, as a Chun-Li one appeared ahead of Cammy. It was also a 1/4 scale figure that cost ¥38,500. It launched in Japan in March 2025.

The Freeing Street Fighter 6 Cammy bunny girl figure will launch in Japan in December 2025, before launching worldwide. The game is available on the PS4, PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X, and PC.

A data pad's faint glow is visible on the left side of this image, which shows a large Vex construction amid the red-and-green palette of the Black Garden.

Destiny 2's Edge of Fate doesn't have a lot of week-to-week content, but seasonal challenges like the Pinnacle Data Pad Retrieval Part Two might get you to boot up the game if you're looking for some easy XP.

Like with other Data Pad Retrieval seasonal challenges, you must dive into a new activity and hunt for those devices hidden anywhere in the mission. The first part of this challenge took you into Encore and Kell's Fall, and you may have already found them in Fireteam Ops and even in the Solo Ops playlist.

For the second week of this challenge, it's time to return to the Black Garden and (re)visit the Starcrossed mission from Season of the Wish in the hunt for two data pads. Here's where you can find them.

Where to find all Data Pads in Starcrossed in Destiny 2

Don't forget to stop and enjoy the view. Screenshot by Destructoid

Starcrossed has two data pads hidden in it, and you don't need to clear the mission to get both. The two are in close succession to each other, after the encounter with the three Wyverns and before the final boss.

First Starcrossed Data Pad location

The first data pad is located after taking down the three Wyverns and unlocking the Vex transport mechanism. Beat a platforming session deep in the rocky underbelly of the Black Garden and you'll come out on an open area with a few Vex in front of you. The second data pad in Starcrossed isn't far from the first. Continue onward and jump to a rocky section below, on your right. From there, take down the droves of Vex that appear and find this datapad glowing by a wall on your left. This clears the second part of this challenge and gets you a little bit of XP if you're looking to progress your rewards pass.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Princess Tour quest characters

Many of Disney Dreamlight Valley's villagers are some of the most kindhearted people you'll ever meet, and Princess Aurora is no exception. During her The Princess Tour quest, you'll spend time with various Disney princesses and help them all have a wonderful day.

Starting the Princess Tour quest

You'll start the "The Princess Tour" quest after reaching level seven friendship with Aurora. You also need to unlock Jasmine, Tiana, and Mulan as villagers. You'll unlock the mission once you meet all of these requirements and speak to Aurora.

Cook Aphrodite's Delight

As you approach Aurora, she'll ask if you'd like to spend time with her friends. You'll start by visiting Jasmine, who reveals that she's feeling sad over missing Rajah. Aurora offers to invite some of the Valley's animals into her cottage and host a concert, allowing everyone to sing along and have some much-needed fun. She'll ask you to cook some Aphrodite's Delight, providing you with a recipe for the dish.

You'll need the following items to make Aphrodite's Delight:

  • Golden Apple
  • Ambrosia

Since you need two batches, you'll need to collect two of each item. You can find both from Goofy's Stall in Mythopia. After making the dish, go to Aurora's Cottage to witness the concert.

Take pictures for Belle and Tiana's scrapbook

Once you and Aurora organize the concert in her cottage, Jasmine will feel much better and a little less homesick. Your next goal is to visit Tiana and Belle, who'll tell you that they're scrapbooking together. However, they don't have a lot of pictures, prompting you to help them.

You'll need to take pictures of the following:

  • Jasmine's House
  • A waterfall in the Wild Woods of Everafter
  • A critter from Mythopia.

The first picture you'll take is of Jasmine and Aladdin's house. Its exact location will depend on where you placed it when you first invited the two to your valley village. It'll look like a tall sandstone tower with a red awning and blue accents along its foundation and doorway.

The next picture is of the waterfall in the Wild Woods. You'll find this waterfall on the western side of the biome, along the river.

Last but not least, you'll need to take a photo of a Pegasus in Mythopia. The Pegasus you encounter will depend on when you log into Disney Dreamlight Valley. Below is a list of their spawn locations and schedules:

Color Day Time
Blue Pegasus Monday

Peach Pegasus Every day 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Feeding Pegasus their favorite foods is entirely optional. As long as you take a picture of them, you'll satisfy the quest's objective, letting you return to Tiana and Belle.

Meet Mulan and Merida in the Knight's Trial

Our last set of friends to visit are Merida and Mulan. As you talk to them, you'll equip Fairytale Armor that you unlocked during The Storybook Vale's main storyline. You'll spot the armor set in your Wardrobe through the quest filter.

Once you have the armor on, head into the Fallen Fortress' Fairy Trial and talk to Aurora, Merida, and Mulan. You'll test your strength by breaking three practice bricks with your Royal Pickaxe. It's a short and simple exchange, but it made Aurora happy, so much so that she decides to host a party to celebrate the great day you both had.

Craft Aurora's Princess Party Banner

Our final objective for Aurora's The Princess Tour quest is to craft some Princess Party Banners. You'll need the following materials for this:

  • Petrified Wood (10)
  • Marble (10)
  • Pine Cones (5)
  • Opal (2)
  • Star Sapphire (2)

Petrified wood is the easiest of the five items to obtain, as you can find it through mining nodes in The Bind and Everafter. Opals also spawn in The Bind's rocks, while Star Sapphires appear in Everafter's nodes. You'll spot pine cones on the ground near trees in The Bind, letting you knock out four of the five requirements quickly. Lastly, you'll need to take a trip to Mythopia and mine some of its ore rocks to collect marble.

With all five materials on hand, head to any crafting station to make Aurora's Princess Party Banners. You'll wrap up the "The Princess Tour" quest by placing the banners down through your furniture menu, letting you take a photo with Aurora and her princess friends. You'll complete the quest, rewarding you with 2,200 friendship XP with Aurora.

Splitgate 2 official promo art

The endlessly unique saga of Splitgate 2 got another jaw-dropping chapter today as its devs announced the free-to-play FPS will be going back into beta phase.

After making waves earlier this year with one of the game's makers taking the stage at Summer Game Fest in a "Make FPS Great Again" hat, the move will have its makers "heads down until early next year, rebuilding major parts of the game to capture the spirit of what made Splitgate special," 1047 Games said in a statement today.

"We've heard your feedback, and we agree with you: we launched too early," the statement said today, just about a month after launching out of beta. "We had ambitious goals with Splitgate 2, and in our excitement to share it with you, we bit off more than we could chew. We rushed certain features, made some boneheaded mistakes, and most importantly – we didn't give you the polished, portal-filled mayhem you fell in love with."

Unfortunately, the game's failures also means layoffs, and 1047 says it has "made the incredibly difficult decision to reduce certain roles and shift our resources to focus on this rework," since "rebuilding the core experience isn't a quick fix."

"This is heartbreaking," 1047 said. "These are our teammates and our friends, and they helped build what we have today. They're receiving severance and job placement support, and we're committed to doing everything we can to help them through this transition. We hope to bring them back when we can."

But to keep more jobs from being lost, 1047 said it will be shutting down the original Splitgate servers next month, so it's yet another dosage of bad news out of the announcement today.

"While we'd love to keep servers online indefinitely, it's cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past couple of years, and we have to prioritize our team," 1047 said. "Like us, we know this game means a lot to so many of you, so we are exploring the possibility of supporting offline or peer-to-peer matches. And when we return, we plan to have a dedicated experience in Splitgate 2 that delivers on the promise of the original."

In some modicum of good news, Splitgate 2 will continue to remain playable while the remaining devs work, Chapter 3 of the game is still on the way, and they will also be working on fixes and changes to the existing game.

It would be an understatement to say Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is an anticipated game for many, having been tweaked greatly from its first appearance in 2021, garnering awards like Surprise of the Year at the 2024 UCG Game Awards, and themed controllers being made by brands like 8BitDo. There's no more need to wait, for […]

Explore, fight, die, repeat. This quickly became the cycle I found myself in while playing Bandai Namco's 2D Metroidvania Shadow Labyrinth. This game shouldn't work on paper because it contradicts everything we've known about Pac-Man since its creation in the '80s. However, in practice, it evolves into something rather unique, as the team takes the […]
