Stardew Valley like My Time at Sandrock multiplayer hits

While some players were disappointed that the My Time at Sandrock multiplayer side wasn't ready for launch this month, developer Panthea confirms that the chill Stardew Valley-style city-building game will add online play for up to four players "by the end of this year".

The sequel to 2019's My Time at Portia released last week on Steam Early Access, and going by Steam player counts it has already been a tremendous success. However, some players may have been taken off-guard by the lack of a multiplayer mode, which the developer previously confirmed was always the plan for the sequel.

In a new video, developer Panthea outlines its My Time at Sandrock multiplayer roadmap for 2022, and states that the plan is to release it as an update later this year. The team aims to hold global tests for all players in late August/early September and in October, so it seems likely the game's online side will be added in November or December 2022 - with support for up to four players.

Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord Warhammer mod gets

One of the coolest Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord mods of recent years - which turns the medieval strategy game into a Warhammer game - just got its "first massive update", adding a load of new units, assets, and a devastating Celestial Wizard magic-user to the game.

We first checked in with 'The Old Realms' mod for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord last year, where a group of dedicated modders brought the Warhammer fantasy game Old World setting to TaleWorlds' medieval game. It released back in September as a highly unstable 0.0.1 beta with the Empire of Man and the Vampire Counts factions.

Nine months later, the mod's latest 4.3Gb update (thanks, Reddit) brings it up to version 0.2.0, and while still only in beta, it's a lot more stable. While the 'Guns of Nuln' update doesn't add in any new factions, it does add a load of improvements. First and foremost are new units, including the Beastman and the powerful Celestial Wizard magic-user.

virtua fighter anime blu-ray

Discotek Media announced that it will release Virtua Fighter on SD Blu-ray some time in 2022. It will have all 35 episodes with English subtitles. The first 24 episodes in the English dub are available, as well. Discotek will announce special features and extras on the Blu-ray at a later date via the company Twitter account.

The Virtua Fighter anime first released in 1996, though it did not have the same story as the game. Anime Works dubbed the show's first 24 episodes. The company didn't finish dubbing the series due to poor sales. Discotek Media is the first licensing company since Virtua Fighter's original dub to pick it up for an English audience. An SD Blu-ray contains the episodes in standard-definition resolution, rather than the high-definition format of a standard Blu-ray.

Virtua Fighter 2 had a fairly bare-bones story, similar to Virtua Fighter 5. Both games feature a fighting tournament and a secret organization trying to create ultimate fighting machines. However, the anime retains the setting while focusing more on the evil organization aspect. The show had Shinichiro Miki (Lockon Stratos from Mobile Suit Gundam 00) as Akira Yuki, and Naoko Matsui (Dorothy Catalonia in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing) as Pai Chan.

The Virtua Fighter SD Blu-Ray is slated for a launch later in 2022. Discotek Media will post more information through Twitter.

Season 3 of KonoSuba has been announced, as well as an animated adaptation of the spin-off KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World. Animation studio Drive will take over from Studio Deen, who worked on the first two seasons. However, Takaomi Kanasaki will remain the director. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

https://twitter.com/konosubaanime/status/1530535862441680896

KonoSuba is a light novel, manga, and anime series. It follows Kazuma Sato, who wakes up in a fantasy world after his death. While it is an isekai, it has comedic elements in Kazuma's dysfunctional party. They inadvertently find themselves fighting the Devil King's generals through their daily lives. As for KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World, the spin-off focuses on Megumin's past and how she learned her Explosion spell.

https://twitter.com/konosubaanime/status/1530534355558203394

Aside from a show and a light novel series, KonoSuba is also a video game. This may not be a surprise, considering the amount of MMORPG tropes and references that are in the source material. A sequel to KonoSuba: Labyrinth Of Hope And The Gathering Adventurers is in development. The title will come out on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

KonoSuba season 3 and KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World are in development. There is no news on when they will release. It is also unknown if they will air in the same anime season.

The Summertime Rendering Manga Comes at a Good Time

We've been seeing quite a few stories with mysteries to solve and secrets lately. The kinds of tales that get you wondering what a person could or should have done differently. For example, someone might wonder about that when playing a game like Gnosia. Summertime Rendering presents another situation that makes people wonder what exactly is happening. And, with Udon releasing its first three volumes at the end of May 2022 and last three in August 2022 and Disney+ showing the anime in Japan, it's really an ideal time to dive in.

The Summertime Rendering manga begins with a mysterious encounter. A young man named Shinpei is on a boat with a friend named Ushio. After she chastises him for not coming home often enough, she offers advice about telling people hello, looking for her, and protecting someone named Mio. Only after that introduction does Shinpei "wake up." It turns out he's on a ferry heading to Hitogashima to attend Ushio's funeral. It's also then that Mio comes racing on her bike to meet him.

https://www.siliconera.com/disney-adding-anime-to-global-streaming-catalogue/It's then that Summertime Rendering gets not only Shinpei and Mio, but the reader, guessing what's going on. The story is that Ushio died while saving a young girl who was drowning. However, Shinpei's talks with people he grew up with and who were around at the time suggest something more could be going on. The town's police officer seems to be investigating. Then, there's the rumor about the Shadow Sickness. When Shinpei and Mio are talking about what happened to Ushio and the girl she saved, Mio brings up an encounter the child had. That's when an elderly man brings up an illness that can affect people on the island.

It all comes in at such a steady pace. Summertime Rendering is setting up these little touch points. There are clues hinting about certain things to potentially expect. But then, the story still manages to surprise you with some twists. As an example, I didn't expect the level of fanservice present in its introduction. For example, Ushio is in a swimsuit when we first meet her. When Shinpei encounters a mysterious woman on the ferry for the first time, he's waking up face-first in her breasts. After Mio races to Shinpei to greet him, her bike can't stop and we see her underwear. While it would be a spoiler to explain why I think it is appropriate in retrospect, all of this establishes a sort of tone. Which then make subsequent events feel like they hit harder.

Since we are starting to see stories with situations like this more frequently, it becomes about seeing not only what is going on in the Summertime Rendering manga. It is also about how Yasuki Tanaka will make it stand out among its contemporaries. The things that are happening here. The way it builds out. How Shinpei addresses situations and uses what he learns.

Not to mention, well, it's appropriate because of the season. This is a mystery set in the summer. It's on an island. There's the whole ambiance of swimming, festivals, and small town life. Again, not to offer any spoilers, but Summertime Rendering tells the sort of story that could work at any time of year. But it feels especially effective now.

After going through the first volume of the Summertime Rendering, it really feels like the optimal time for this story to reach more people. The setting in-game, the appearance of its anime adaptation, and the fact that these sorts of tales are coming up more frequently really helps set the stage for it.

The first volume of Summertime Rendering will be published via Udon on May 31, 2022. The anime adaptation is streaming on Disney+ in Japan.

During Good Smile Company's WonHobby G announcements, it showed off three upcoming Hololive figures. Pop Up Parade figures of Minato Aqua and Tokino Sora will appear in the near future. The prototypes for both, as well as one of a Houshou Marine figma, already have paint on them, giving a good idea of how the final product will look.

While there are no release windows yet for any of the Hololive figures, they look mostly complete. The Minato Aqua figure has her making a heart with her hands, while Tokino Sora has one arm high in the air. Both of these are Pop Up Parades, which means that they have a fixed pose you cannot change.

Since the Houshou Marine figure is a figma, you will be able to move her limbs and body as you wish. From the picture on the WonHobby G website, she appears to have joints on her elbows, knees, ankles, and chest. It is unclear if you will be able to remove her captain hat.

Hololive is not the only VTuber group for whom Good Smile Company will release figures. During WonHobby G, it also revealed upcoming Nendoroids of Nyatasha Nyanners and Ironmouse from VShojo. While there is a painted prototype of Nyatasha, Ironmouse is still in the concept art stage. VShojo is an American-based VTuber company that primarily streams on Twitch.

Hearing-impaired guild beats WoW Sepulcher of the First Ones

A World of Warcraft guild populated primarily with deaf and hard of hearing members has completed the 'Ahead of the Curve' achievement in the MMO game - meaning that this hearing-impaired guild, called Undaunted, has beaten The Jailer boss and completed the difficult WoW Sepulcher of the First Ones raid on Heroic difficulty.

The tough raid Sepulcher of the First Ones was added earlier this year and was originally so tricky that Blizzard had to release a patch to make it easier. The race to complete the raid on Mythic difficulty took a gruelling 18 days for some of the best World of Warcraft players around. Doing it on Heroic difficulty is still a challenge, but doing it without any voice communication?

Well, Undaunted guild managed just that (via Icy Veins). Undaunted is a guild "built by and for the Deaf and hard of hearing community", and they just finished off The Jailer and bested WoW's Sepulcher of the First Ones raid without any voice chat whatsoever - which took 120 attempts, apparently.

Modern Warfare 2 Steam art sparks hope for Call of Duty return

Artwork for the new Call of Duty game has popped up on Valve's storefront, sparking hope amongst fans that a Modern Warfare 2 Steam release is on the cards - which would mark the return of the FPS game franchise to the platform after five years.

The last Call of Duty game on Steam was WWII back in 2017, and from Black Ops IV onwards the series has been exclusive to Activision Blizzard's own Battle.net service on PC - including the ongoing Warzone. It was expected that the recently-revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would follow suit, but it's possible that might not be the case.

As spotted by fans, the Steam page for certain Call of Duty games - like the DLC list for Black Ops III - features a "Call of Duty franchise" button. Up until the time of writing, that link showed the main cover art from Modern Warfare 2. The artwork disappeared while I was writing this, but you can still check it out on the original Reddit post.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor takes place alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi

While only a few details about the new Star Wars game have been revealed, Respawn confirms that the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor setting is five years after the last game. So when does Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 take place? Exactly the same time as the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus show.

The sequel to one of the best Star Wars action-adventure games on PC, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, was properly announced this week at the Star Wars Celebration event. Despite many leaks about its existence, details are scarce - although developer Respawn and Lucasfilm confirm that Survivor is set five years after the events of Fallen Order.

Fallen Order itself is set five years after Revenge of the Sith, and 14 years before A New Hope - meaning that Survivor is set 10 years after Episode III and nine years before Episode IV. The first episode of the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show - which started this week, the same day as the Jedi: Survivor reveal - confirms that the Disney Plus series is set at the exact same time.

Marvel MMO leaks look like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

A bunch of images seemingly from the recently cancelled Marvel MMORPG have appeared online, thanks to an artist who worked on the project - and these Marvel MMO leaks make the superhero game seem inspired by the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated movie.

In November 2021, Enad Global 7 announced that it had a Marvel Comics MMO game in production from the team behind DC Universe Online - Dimension Ink and Daybreak. Earlier this week, however, the company confirmed that it had cancelled its development to focus on DCUO and Lord of the Rings Online, which it also runs.

The project hadn't yielded any screenshots, but now artist Ramiro Galan  has posted a number of images on their ArtStation from "a cancelled Marvel MMO title". We can't be certain that these are from the Daybreak Marvel game, but Galan - who has worked with Marvel and Disney before, as well as on games such as Halo 5 and PUBG - says that the game's look was designed to "pay homage" to the vibrant, colourful style of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie.

Fast Four Word is a clever idea. It's a Wordle-like in which you begin with a four-letter starting word and must enter a new word which changes just a single letter. So if the starting word is AHEM, as it was yesterday, you could change the first letter and enter THEM.

From there, you have 44 seconds to chain together as many new words as you can, with plenty of other twists to make it more challenging.

Square Enix opened pre-orders for the new My Hero Academia Himiko Toga figure from Taito's Spiritale line. She'll cost $284.99. Pre-orders are open with no end date. However, in Japan the figure can only be pre-ordered for ¥27,500 until July 24, 2022. She'll show up in November 2022 in Japan. The North American release window is March 2023.

This figure of Himiko is a 1/7th scale one. That means she's just under eight inches tall around 200mm. She's wearing her blood sucking machine, so she can use her Transform Quirk. There are also a number of knives stuck into the toys and accessories she's sitting on.

Here's a closer look at the figure from different angles.

The Japanese video also showcases a special promotional part for people in Japan. It's essentially a different face that features her smiling without showing her tongue and teeth. The Square Enix store doesn't offer that bonus part.
Spiritale Taito

She's the second Spiritale My Hero Academia figure. The first is of Ochaco "Uravity" Uraraka. That is also expected to appear in 2023. Taito last showed off both of them in October 2021.

The Spiritale My Hero Academia Himiko Toga figure will debut in Japan in November 2022. She'll appear in North America in March 2023.

The unpainted prototype shows her with a big smile and blushy cheeks, and she is holding one of her swords.

The next Nendoroid is one of Cu Chulainn as he appears in Fate/Grand Order. He is holding the Gae Bolg, which will be one of the optional parts that he will come with. Cu Chulainn will look like he does in his first ascension.

The final upcoming Nendoroid is that of Oberon, or Pretender. As of the time of writing, Oberon is not in the English version of the game, as he appears in the sixth Lostbelt. There is no prototype for Oberon yet, but it seems that he will look like he does in his second ascension.

There will also be two scale figures for Mash and Artoria, who are the heroines of Fate/Grand Order and Fate/stay night respectively. They are both wearing their "under the same sky" 5th anniversary outfits. Mash has a white-and-blue layered dress, with one hand outstretched behind her. Meanwhile, Artoria is wearing a white dress under her blue cape. She is also holding the Excalibur, which she planted into the ground.

This module, as noted in the above photo, can apparently force a BCLK overclock on any non-K Intel 12th gen CPU.
