Doom-like indie FPS is basically Duke Nukem vs crypto mining

There's a Doom-style retro FPS game coming soon called Brutal John, and it's basically a new Duke Nukem game where the fight is against the evils of cryptocurrency. Even better, you can play this boomer shooter indie game right now.

There are a lot of great upcoming games in the FPS genre, including fantastic-looking indie retro-style shooters like Selaco. Brutal John is a new FPS from three-person developer OldSchool Laws Interactive, and while it doesn't have a release date yet you can try it out right now - as there's a demo out on Steam.

Having played the demo, it's clearly in the Doom-style camp but also doesn't take itself too seriously, with a hero straight out of the Duke Nukem or Serious Sam playbook and a plot all about eliminating crypto mining. Given FPS fans haven't had a retro Duke Nukem-like FPS since Ion Fury, Brutal John might fill that void nicely. There's even a character based on the Swole Doge meme.

Player meets Elden Ring Jesus and Satan builds, tragedy ensues

Players have discovered or created a lot of great Elden Ring builds since FromSoftware's fantastic RPG game launched, but it still came as a surprise to one player who encountered Jesus and Satan while trying the PvP multiplayer side. Perhaps inevitably, tragedy - and the apocalypse - ensued.

With the range of the Elden Ring character creator and the depth of choice within the classes available, it's not surprising players are having a lot of fun with the builds. We've recently seen the likes of a mech suit and Will Smith, now one player encountered Jesus Christ and Satan while on a PvP walk around Limgrave.

Jesus is actually quite a popular build but He's rarely accompanied by the Devil, so when user Mar_Reddit recently met them both it was quite an occasion. After trading pleasantries, Mar_Reddit chose the side of good and teamed up with Jesus to resist temptation by immediately attempting to murder Lucifer. And things only escalated from there.

Of all the booths at PAX East 2022 this year, Larian's Baldur's Gate III stand was by far one of the most impressive. Not only did they construct an entire walled city to hark back to its iconic, titular location, but they also had an enormous Nautiloid crashed into the top of it. There was a Mindflayer statue on hand as well, for fans to pose with next to their official cosplayers, and a little campfire for attendees to have a small sit down on, just like they'd do when resting in the game. It was such an incredible booth that we asked Larian to give us a tour of it, and while we did so we also took the opportunity to chat a bit about the reception of Update 7, the confirmation of its 2023 release date and more.

Arknights Prelude to Dawn

Animation studio Yostar Pictures is working on an anime adaptation of Arknights, and previewed the series with a new trailer. The series' formal title is Arknights: Prelude to Dawn. The trailer debuted during a stream promoting the third anniversary of Arknights' Chinese edition.

Check out the Arknights anime trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cwQeezbnWM

Though brief, this is the most substantial look yet at the series. It will adapt the first several chapters of the Arknights main story campaign. Those are the story arcs "Evil Time Parts 1 and 2," "Separated Hearts," and "Stinging Shock." More could be adapted in the space of future seasons, but those appear to be the ones confirmed so far by the trailer and previous teases.

The trailer itself features voice work and footage from the opening act of the game, which details the "Chernobog Incident." This is when Reunion, an army of Infected rebelling against mistreatment and persecution by world governments, takes control of the city in an attempt to sow chaos and topple the existing order. A group of Operators from Rhodes Island infiltrates the city, as it is devastated by Reunion's riots and a Catastrophe. The goal: rescue the "Doctor," who represents the player in the game. Various Arknights characters appear in the trailer, including heroine Amiya (voiced by actress Tomoyo Kurosawa), Dobermann, Hawk, Medic, Ace, and Reunion members like Mephistopheles and Crownslayer.

Arknights: Prelude to Dawn is in production, though no broadcast window was specified. The game is available on iOS and Android. Yostar announced a spin-off called Arknights: Endfield for PC and mobile devices in March.

Cat Cafe Manager feature image

Odds are you are familiar with the concept of a cat cafe. Owners serve beverages and snacks while you enjoy the company of delightful, standoffish, and needy felines looking for a loving home. I've eyeballed a few other games in this genre before, but none really stood out. That changed when the game Cat Cafe Manager sauntered up, rubbed against my leg, and begged for attention.

Cat Cafe Manager is part pet care simulator and part Diner Dash-style game. Serving customers and upgrading your café is super important, but if you don't have cats scurrying around, playing with toys, and visiting your guests, you'll be out of business pretty quick. Acquiring strays is crucial to your success. Stray cats are wandering all around Caterwaul in search of their next meal. Feline friends range from your common street cats to luxurious Persians and unique, otherworldly companions. All it takes is putting out the right lure to find the next great cat employee.

Cat Cafe Manager Boo Berry

Not only do you need cats in order to attract customers, you need the right cats for the job. Different breeds of cats tend to gravitate toward specific sets of clientele. Artsy ones for your creative types, cats with sass for your local punk population, and so on. When strays are lingering outside your shop, you'll be able to see which sorts of people they're best for. If you play your cards right, you'll be able to have a balanced menagerie.

The felines you bring into the business gain experience and can take part in training, just like your human staff! As they make the rounds entertaining your guests, you'll be able to upgrade their skills. New traits will also unlock, adding new perks to your pets that enhance the experience for everyone. It's good to keep an eye on your end of day summaries. This is the best way to learn what guests came in for. Even businessfolk and fishermen prefer places with nice décor and comfy chairs.

Cat Cafe Manager playtest cat skills

In the fast paced, ever changing world of cafe management, you might forget that at the end of the day what you really want is to find these guys a fur-ever home. Adoption in Cat Cafe Manager is important for a couple of reasons; the first, of course, so they have loving families, but secondly, there are staff slot limitations. Any good entrepreneur knows that new offerings entice people to return. A new dessert on the menu and a super friendly tabby cat who wants a delivery of love and affection? I'm on my way.

Cat Cafe Manager is a soothing, cozy game perfect for relaxing when you want something calm at the end of a long day. The only thing that would make it better is having a neck or lap cat companion while you play.

Cat Cafe Manager is available now on Nintendo Switch and Steam for PC.

spy family ending anime

Toho Animation released the official non-credited ending anime sequence for Spy x Family. The video features the ending theme "Comedy" by Gen Hoshino, and follows a day in the life of the Forger family. Notably, prominent director and character designer Atsushi Nishigori wrote the storyboard. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The ending anime follows Anya in her usual daily routine, as well as provides some backstory for each character. For fans who've read the manga, it also teases some upcoming events, side characters, and antagonists. Storyboarding the sequence is prominent animator Atsushi Nishigori. In addition to his work as a character designer on Gurren Lagann, Nishigori also served as Chief Animation Director on both The Idolmaster Movie: Beyond the Brilliant Future! and the Rebirth of Evangelion film series.

You can check out the Spy x Family ending anime in the video below.

Spy x Family is a manga series that started serialization in Shonen Jump+ in March 2019. The manga series is currently ongoing, and the anime adaptation started earlier this month. The story follows three members of the Forger family, each of whom is keeping their true identities a secret. Anya Forger is a telepathic child, Loid Forger is a spy, and Yor Forger is an assassin. Unbeknownst to the two adoptive parents, Anya learns of their two true identities due to her telepathic ability but chooses not to tell them in order to keep her family.

Last week, Toho Animation also released the opening animation with Official HIGE DANdism performing the opening theme. Both the opening and ending themes appeared in a teaser trailer from last month.

Spy x Family is available to watch on Crunchyroll in Japanese and English. In other regions, the anime is available on platforms like Netflix and Muse Asia.

fate/grand order playing cards

A set of "gold" Fate/Grand Order: Solomon playing cards will appear in select crane games around Japan. The face cards, as well as the two joker cards, will have Fate/Grand Order characters on them. The seven card will also have a character on it.

There were seven Singularities prior to the Solomon Singularity. Therefore, seven bears a special meaning. All other cards will have normal designs on them. The cards will come in a box that has the key visual for the movie on it.

In the picture for the deck, we can see the full sets for the clubs and the hearts. There are characters such as Doctor Roman, Bedivere, Jeanne d'Arc, and Nightingale on the face cards. With the exception of Babylonia (which featured Caster Gilgamesh), all of the face cards on the advertisement are the poster characters from their respective Singularities.

Fate/Grand Order: Solomon (official title Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity Grand Temple of Time: Solomon) came out in Japan in 2021. It follows the events of the titular Final Singularity, which concludes the first main story part of Fate/Grand Order. In February 2022, it became available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Aniplex will also release it on Blu-ray on July 26, 2022. You can pre-order the Blu-ray from the Aniplex USA website.

The Fate/Grand Order gold playing cards are available in select crane game stores in Japan, as well as on online crane game applications.

Masterline Final Fantasy VI Statue

Square Enix has unveiled the price of its Masterline Final Fantasy VI statue from Prime 1 Studio. The 1/6 scale statue of Terra riding a suit of Magitek armor will cost a whopping ¥1,485,000, which is approximately $11,500 or €10,694. Pre-orders for the statue in Japan will go up on April 25, 2022, 11 a.m. Japan Time, via a special Square Enix store page. The statue will ship in Japan on July 28, 2023.

Prime 1 Studio is producing the statue under the supervision of Final Fantasy concept artist Yoshitaka Amano. At 1/6 scale, the statue features a highly detailed Terra (or Tina) riding on top of a suit of Magitek armor. The statue is based on an earlier concept design for Final Fantasy VI that Amano drew during development. In a newly-uploaded video, Amano himself discusses the statue's design and his feelings toward Final Fantasy VI.

At ¥1,485,000 per statue, it is the most expensive statue in the Masterline series so far.

Furthermore, production will be limited to a total of 600 statues worldwide, with 150 reserved for buyers in Japan. Square Enix notes that pre-orders will end once 600 are sold. It also states that the order limits for each region may change depending on stock. Square Enix will announce further information about pricing and availability in regions outside of Japan sometime later. It's unclear whether this means that pre-order dates will be different depending on the region.

You can check out the second Masterline Final Fantasy VI statue preview video below.

Previously, Prime 1 Studios also released a series of Masterline NieR: Automata statues featuring 2B, 9S, and A2. Similarly, the statues featured high attention to detail and also came in different outfit variations.

Pre-orders for the Masterline Final Fantasy VI statue will open in Japan starting April 25, 2022, at 11 AM Japan Time (April 23, 7PM PST / April 24, 4 AM CEST). The statue will cost ¥1,485,000 (about $11,500) and ship sometime in July 2023. Pre-orders will be available via a special Square Enix store page.

Sony wants someone to shape its Playstation PC plans

A new Sony job advertisement states that the console publisher is looking for a "senior director" responsible for shaping and strategizing the plans for its Playstation PC games - which includes the upcoming Uncharted PC collection and possibly the likes of Demon's Souls, Ghost of Tsushima, and Returnal if leaks are to be believed.

There have been a number of major Playstation exclusives ported to PC recently, including the likes of God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Days Gone, and by all accounts, this plan has proved very successful for Sony - and it's not surprising the publisher is seeking to expand its plans.

As Sony posted online (via Reddit), it's hiring a senior director in charge of "PC planning and strategy" with the aim of delivering "a single, optimized PC sales growth and commercial plan" to implement alongside global storefront partners such as Steam and Epic. The role's various listed responsibilities include leading PC growth, increasing "PC monthly active users" with content and meeting "the needs of our players"

Someone beat every Kingdom Hearts boss with a dance pad

A Twitch streamer has beaten every Kingdom Hearts boss in the first JRPG game by only using the power of dance - or, more specifically, with a Dance Dance Revolution 2 dance pad controller. That includes all of the toughest 'super boss' enemies too, such as the Phantom and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII.

There are many wonderful stories about players using inventive controllers to beat challenging games, such as someone defeating one of Elden Ring's most intimidating bosses entirely with bananas. Twitch stream MomoPkmn95 was inspired by players beating Dark Souls games with the likes of a Rock Band drum set and, yes, a dance pad to give it a go themselves - in Kingdom Hearts 1.

Most of the attempt to beat the first Kingdom Hearts game with a dance mat can be seen on MomoPkmn95's Twitch channel, otherwise there are highlights on YouTube - including their dance-off with some of the RPG game's toughest bosses, which you can see in the video below.

The best ninja games on PC in 2022

What are the best ninja games on PC? Sneaking through the shadows, lithely climbing and dashing your way to an unsuspecting target; clashing swords with a rival in a climactic battle; methodically planning your next move to catch the enemy unaware. There are a lot of reasons why ninja games are so appealing. As gamers, we revel in fantasies of power and experiences out of our reach, and ninja games are pretty high on the list of "I wish I could do that".

Luckily, some of the best PC games let you play ninja. In fact, it's a pretty crowded genre, and hacking through the chaff with a katana will only get you so far.

In order to make the search a bit easier, we've gone ahead and curated this list of eight of the best Ninja games, plus two upcoming titles, that will sate your inner ninja. Plenty of classics are present, like 3D stealth sims, but we have also included some off-the-wall games to illustrate just how varied the ninja scene is. Go on, take a look below. We'll see you on the other side of the shadows.
