Genshin Impact's 3.1 version update goes live this week, but HoYoVerse is ready to tease who's coming next to the game's playable roster. The next characters to potentially make the leap will be Layla and Nahida, according to the Genshin Impact official Twitter account. Nahida should be a figure familiar to players who've kept up with their Archon Quests in Genshin Impact. She is the vessel of the Lesser Lord Kusanali, current Dendro Archon and ostensible ruler of Sumeru. She appeared in Chapter III of the Archon Quest, but wasn't officially confirmed to be a playable character at the time. She is, as might be expected, a Dendro-element character, though HoYoVerse has not confirmed her weapon type or role as of yet. The second newly teased Genshin Impact character is Layla. Also from Sumeru, Layla is a Rtawahist student, specializing in Theoretical Astrology. She's confirmed as a Cryo-element character, but as with Nahida, her weapon type and role are unconfirmed. A second login event from October 14 to 31, 2022, will reward players with Mora, Intertwined Fates, Heroes' Wits, and Mystic Ore. Finally, Genshin Impact will host two Event Wish banners. The latest update for Genshin Impact goes live this week, and HoYoVerse shared the latest about Candace, one of the update's marquee characters alongside Cyno. The Genshin Impact Candace character demo video gives players insight into her role in Sumeru's society. HoYoVerse also detailed her skills and attributes in a blog post on its community site, HoYoLab. Though she's a 4-Star Hydro-element polearm-wielder, Candace is better known as the Blessed Shield, sworn defender of Aaru Village. She's also a descendant of King Deshret, a legendary figure among the Desertfolk of Sumeru's arid subregion. Candace also has heterochromia, a condition in which her eyes are two different colors. During the video, she implies that her amber-colored eye can see into the future, remarking that she'd like to look at the Traveler's future through it. She's voiced in English by Shara Kirby (Bea in Pokémon Masters, Lucky in Tokyo 24th Ward), and in Japanese by Ryota Yuzuki (Kayo from Horimiya, Shizuka in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU). In combat, Candace provides offensive support capabilities to the party. She can raise her shield with her elemental skill to absorb incoming damage. Tapping the skill button causes Candace to leap forward and slam opponents with Hydro damage. Holding the button causes her to keep her shield up, absorbing damage based on her Max HP stat. After the skill expires or the player releases it, she performs a leaping strike to deal Hydro damage to enemies in front of her. Candace's elemental burst deals AOE Hydro damage that scales with her Max HP. The burst also confers a buff, "Prayer of the Crimson Crown" on the active character. This buff enhances elemental damage and infuses the normal attacks of Sword, Claymore, and Polearm-wielding characters with Hydro. Swapping characters while under its effect also causes a Hydro damage shockwave. Candace debuts in Genshin Impact with the 3.1 Update. The update opens on September 28, 2022. Atlus has filed a lawsuit against two groups connected with fan-run servers operating the officially-closed online RPG Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine (or SMT Imagine). The lawsuit alleges that the groups violated copyright law in "resurrecting" the game without permission, as well as deriving a profit off of the operation of the SMT Imagine fan server. [Thanks, @MarshSMT!] Altus Co. originally filed the lawsuit in December 2021. The company then requested a summons to each of the two groups, going by the handles Rekuiemu and COMP_hack. These two were the website owners in August and September 2022. The complaint alleges that the owners violated US copyright law by creating and operating an "exact copy" of the original SMT Imagine website, distributing the game for free, and operating a private game server without permission. Among the listed infringements, Atlus notes that the website for Rekuiemu: Imagine (the private server) "added copyright information" that falsely attributed the website to Rekuiemu. Specifically, the website listed "Copyright (C) REKUIEMU" along with the names of Atlus, Sega, and developer Cave. As such, Atlus alleges that the Imagine fan server "has caused and will continue to cause irreparable damage" to the company. Furthermore, Atlus is requesting the owners shut down the server, website, and GitHub, as well as provide monetary relief for damages. For its part, the group COMP_hack is accused of facilitating the creation of the private SMT Imagine fan server, as well as of profiting off the alleged copyright violation. The suit lists the accused as "John Doe", meaning that the real identities of the individuals or groups targeted in the suit are unknown or hidden. Another SMT Imagine fan server, ReImagine, was not named in the suit, though its website has been taken down at the time of this writing.

Two years later, the game released in the US. The game featured a real time combat system, while also combining the series' iconic demon recruitment system. While the game had a significant following in Japan, the game's US servers closed down in 2014, with Japan following soon after in 2016. The SMT Imagine fan server started in December 2020, and was a wholly unmodified version of the original game. Registering for the game required no money, and both the website and launcher largely operated in the same way as the now-defunct official site and launcher. Over the course of the beta, players have tried out some of the multiplayer maps on offer and various game modes, played around with the new gunsmith, and more. Some features such as Dead Silence have even returned from recent Call of Duty titles. Dead Silence is a Field Upgrade in Modern Warfare 2, but players were quick to notice that it has some issues compared to previous iterations. Using Dead Silence now isn't as stealthy as before, thanks to a nerf. This year, Dead Silence has received some changes. Although it's purpose is still to temporarily allow you to move around the map undetected, activating the Field Upgrade could cost you your life. The hack 'n' slash, demon-slaying franchise has been quite dormant for some time. From what we can glean in a Gematsu article, the Onimusha show may not bring our boy Samanosuke to Netflix screens. For those who don't recall, Samanosuke Akechi is the oni-hunting samurai warrior whom a good half of the series follows — beginning with the original 2001 game. Instead, the series follows none other than swordsman legend Miyamoto Musashi. Onimusha is a franchise that has tweaked actual Japanese history to suit its storytelling needs, and the series appears to be doing the same. One of the most popular maps in Halo's history is making its comeback. The Pit is returning in Halo Infinite, but not in a way that you might expect. The map is being remade using the game's Forge mode, which will allow players to create their own maps and game modes. As such, the map looks a bit different from how you may remember it. The trailer showing off The Pit for Halo Infinite is mostly a highlight reel of classic matches from Halo 3.
