The Genshin Impact Baizhu and Ganyu banners failed to impress players during their run in version 3.6. According to the anime game's sales estimates, they performed even worse than Dehya and Cyno, which was a controversial banner to say the least. It's surprising that Baizhu, Ganyu, and Kaveh struggle to compete with a banner that was plagued with so many complaints that a #FixDehya hashtag gained real traction on Twitter.

The grimdark future of Warhammer 40k is not a clean place, and it's not somewhere you'd associate with one of the most relaxing games. In fact, it's probably one of the dirtiest, dankest, downright filthiest environments going; a clanging cacophony of steel, flesh, oil, and numerous substances you probably don't even want to identify.      Best gaming VPN 2023

The best VPN for gaming will help to completely revolutionise your experience in games like Call of Duty: Warzone, FIFA, and League of Legends. They can help to reduce ping, give you access to easier lobbies, improve download speeds, protect you from DDoS attacks, give you access to regional exclusive content, and much more.

While virtual private networks are known to slightly lower download speeds, that's not always the case. Internet service providers often throttle your speeds when you engage in bandwidth-heavy activities such as gaming, but since the best gaming VPN hides what you're doing from prying eyes, ISPs are none the wiser when you're connected to one. They also keep your IP address private, which is an important step towards maintaining your internet anonymity.

Not all VPNs are built equally, however, and free VPN services just don't cut it. Fortunately, you can offset the cost of the subscription by using the VPN to hunt for better deals on games that are cheaper in other regions. You'll get more for your money if you subscribe in bulk, as a year costs less overall than the monthly subscription - and if you're still not convinced, you can try them out no-strings attached, as some of them have a VPN free trial.

     Best Diablo 4 Barbarian build

What is the best Diablo 4 Barbarian build? After a rocky performance in earlier beta tests, the Diablo 4 Barbarian received a slew of balance changes that may leave you feeling unsure how to spec at launch. Thankfully, our best build rises to the occasion, and – in our experience – puts all other builds to shame.

Of course, our hunt to find the best Diablo 4 Barbarian build necessitated a trip into Sanctuary during the Diablo 4 beta, where we got to grips with all the changes to the RPG game's well-loved classes. While the Barbarian's kit has received a bit of a shake-up with the introduction of the arsenal system, it's still the dedicated melee class we know and love. That said, Diablo 4 skill trees are as versatile as they've ever been, and it's easy to spec into a sluggish skill rotation. To avoid that, here's the best Diablo 4 Barbarian build if you're looking to get your hands dirty in potentially one of the best PC games of this year.

2023 has seen the closure of more big multiplayer games than, well, any time I can recall in recent memory. One after the other, developers' dreams of making the next big Destiny-like have gradually collapsed in on themselves. Like a deflated concertina, their last honks of life have been crushed down to desperate, fizzling squeals as servers lie empty and the cost of maintaining them spirals out of control. Some are still hanging in there, sure, but the genre as a whole feels like it's at a tipping point - and I couldn't help but sigh as five more multiplayer shooters joined the fray last night as part of Sony's PlayStation Showcase.

Foamstars

Chikara Saito announced that he is the director for Square Enix's Foamstars, which is still in development. This game is a recent announcement and first appeared during the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase. It is a 4v4 game in which it seems you shoot bubbles to claim territory, much like Nintendo's Splatoon.

Chikara Saito, or Rickey, worked on Dragon Quest X Online and the Tokyo Majin Gakuen series in the past. For Tokyo Majin Gakuen games, he was mostly involved in the planning stage. But for Dragon Quest X, he worked as both the planner and the director. He also directed Cross Treasures, which was an RPG that Square Enix release for the Nintendo DS in 2009.

So far, there is not a lot of information on Foamstars, since Square Enix just unveiled it. Gameplay-wise, it looks very similar to Splatoon. However, the designs of the characters and the aesthetic of the environment look closer to Japanese street fashion. Since none of the games Saito worked on in the past resemble Foamstars, it is difficult to tell what direction he will take it.

Foamstars is in development for the PS4 and PS5. More information on the game, as well as the release window, will come out in the future.

Final Fantasy X Eternal Calm Beach

The Eternal Calm is an important event in Final Fantasy X. However, in order to understand what The Eternal Calm is, it's important to understand Spira, the world that the game is set in.

The world of Final Fantasy X is marked by tragedy. This is because of Sin, a gigantic whale-like creature capable of leveling cities and wiping out entire armies. Society in Spira must constantly rebuild itself in the wake of Sin's attacks. Meanwhile the people live in desperate hope that if they follow the religious teachings of Yevon, they will be spared from Sin's wrath.

Sin can be defeated. Summoners from around Spira go on pilgrimages to gain Aeons, powerful creatures who can be called into battle. At the end of their journey, they get to summon the Final Aeon, a being powerful enough to take down Sin. This victory over Sin leads to the Calm.

The Calm is a respite from the devastation caused by Sin. With Sin gone, the people of Spira can live peacefully knowing their home isn't about to be obliterated at any moment. However, the Calm is temporary, as Sin always returns after a few years. It's an endless cycle that Spira is trapped in.

Final Fantasy X Eternal Calm Sin

In Final Fantasy X, Yuna is one of the summoners who sets out on her pilgrimage to defeat Sin. She is joined by her Guardians, including the game's protagonist, Tidus. During their journey, they learn many of the truths behind Yu Yevon and Sin and make a choice to end the cycle for good. They find a way to defeat Sin that leads to its permanent destruction.

This is where the Eternal Calm comes in. As with all victories against Sin, Spira enters The Calm. However, due to Yuna and her friends, Sin has no chance of returning, turning this into an Eternal Calm. In addition, Yuna's actions have exposed the lies and corruption within Yevon, and the religious order collapses. With both of these changes, the Eternal Calm represents a new start for Spira and its people.

We don't see much of the Eternal Calm in Final Fantasy X itself. Instead, its impact is seen in the direct sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, which wastes no time in showing how different the world is following the start of the Eternal Calm.

Final Fantasy X-2 Eternal Calm Yuna Concert

Many have derided the pop concert at the start of Final Fantasy X-2. It's campy and over the top. It's a drastic contrast to the somber ending of Final Fantasy X. However, this is the point. It's a blunt way of showing it, but this scene is an illustration of why the Eternal Calm matters.

In Final Fantasy X, Spira was caught in the grip of a strict religious order and living in fear of Sin. The only levity the people were allowed was Blitzball. In Final Fantasy X-2, the Eternal Calm allows the people of Spira to live how they choose. And they choose to go to pop concerts, play coin games and form teams of treasure hunters with Charlie's Angels style group poses. It's all a little silly, but Spira in Final Fantasy X was a world in desperate need of some silliness.

The Eternal Calm is important to the story of Final Fantasy X because its arrival makes all the sacrifices of Yuna's journey worth it. After her long and arduous pilgrimage, this is what she has gained for both herself and the population of Spira. A thousand years of oppression are over, and now everyone can play Sphere Break. It's the happy ending Spira deserves.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is available now for PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

Kemono Friends chatbot Common Raccoon

An official chatbot for Kemono Friends is now live in Japan. Its name is AI Arai-san, which can loosely translate to "Miss AI Raccoon," and it is based off of the Raccoon character from Kemono Friends. It uses ChatGPT technology as its base.

AI Arai-san also has its own Twitter account, which also uses AI for its tweets. As of the time of writing, it only made a tweet commenting on how it's trending in Japan. The other tweets are ones to announce its existence. According to Trippy, the company that developed it, AI Arai-san talks like Raccoon does, rather than the typical language learning model. So it's similar to how character.ai works.

In order to chat with AI Arai-san, you will need a LINE account. After adding it as a friend, you can start chatting with it immediately. However, it is important to note that AI Arai-san is not a free chatbot. Since it just launched, it's free for three days (until May 28, 2023). After that, only the first 25 messages will be free. If you want to chat with AI Arai-san even more, then you have to pay a premium of 550 JPY per month. Then you can send it a hundred messages per day.

Kemono Friends is a media franchise that features Japari Park, which is full of endangered species, extinct species, and cryptids. They're all anthropomorphized girls, though. It is a multimedia franchise, consisting of an anime series, a manga adaptation, and several games.

The AI Arai-san Kemono Friends chatbot is available on LINE. It'll be free until May 28, 2023.

How to Find & Beat Honkai Star Rail Echo of War Cocolia

Maybe it's just me, but for some reason the Cocolia, Mother of Deception weekly boss fight feels easier in Honkai: Star Rail than the Doomsday Beast. It can still be a challenge, mind you. Especially as you unlock higher difficulties as you boost your Trailblaze Level. But it doesn't feel as devastating as it could on many difficulty levels when you visit the Honkai: Star Rail Echo of War: End of the Eternal Freeze fight.

How do you find Honkai: Star Rail Echo of War: End of the Eternal Freeze Cocolia weekly boss fight?

As with the Doomsday Beast, you first need to unlock the ability to take on Echoes of War fights. This happens after you finish the Jarilo-VI arc, basically. Getting through the "In the Dangerous Swamp" Trailblazer Mission and beating Cocolia for the first time will do it.

Once you do that, you'll be able to find her at the very "end" of the Everwinter Hill Jarilo-VI map. I highlighted it in the screenshot below.
[gallery columns="1" size="full" ids="964997" link="file"]

What kinds of characters should be brought in to face Cocolia in Honkai: Star Rail?

Cocolia is weak against Fire, Thunder, and Quantum attacks. Right ahead of this boss during the story, you get access to the Preservation path Fire-type Trailblazer, and they work perfectly for the fight.

Here are some characters you could consider:

  • Fire: Asta, Himeko, Hook, and Trailblazer
  • Thunder: Arlan, Bailu, Jing Yuan, Serval, and Tingyun
  • Quantum: Qinque and Seele

I sort of feel like the game basically sets this up as a Seele and Fire Trailblazer fight! So if you have both of them, they're perfect for this weekly boss.

As for team compositions, you definitely want to have a Perservation-sort of character around who can put up shields for everyone. Trailblazer will have you covered there. If you're lucky enough to have either Qinque or Seele, both work very well here! (Especially if you have a Bronya to support Seele!) Having a healer can be helpful, especially on higher difficulties, so Bailu or Natasha could be handy. Since everyone gets a free Serval, she can help you out too!

What do you get for beating the Echo of War: End of the Eternal Freeze Cocolia weekly boss in Honkai: Star Rail?

The big item is Guardian's Lament. This is a Trace material you need for characters in Honkai: Star Rail. So if you use people like Bailu, Bronya, Clara, Gepard, Hook, Natasha, Seele, or Serval, you'll need quite a few of those.

The Echoes of War also have the possibility of dropping Relics. Just like Doomsday Beast, Cocolia can drop Musketeer of Wild Wheat and Thief of Shooting Meteor ones. You'll get Lucent Afterglow pieces to trade for Light Cones and Credits too.

She might also drop the following four-star Light Cones:

  • Fermata
  • Past and Future
  • Quid Pro Quo
  • River Flows in Spring
  • The Seriousness of Breakfast
  • We are Wildfire
  • Woof! Walk Time!

Honkai: Star Rail is available for PCs and mobile devices, and PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.

May 2023 Marvelous Games Showcase Will Appear in English

Xseed and Marvelous announced that the Marvelous Games Showcase stream being aired on May 25, 2023 will appear in English as well. The Japanese branch of the company announced the showcase first on the evening of May 23, 2023. On May 24, 2023, a stream with English subtitles was announced. People will be able to catch it on YouTube at 3pm PT/6pm ET.

Here's the official video, ahead of its May 25, 2023 debut:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4NGndJUuMY&ab_channel=XSEEDgames

Xseed and Marvelous didn't mention which games could be discussed during the showcase. We know Touhou: New World is in development for Japan, so there could be an update on that. Loop8: Summer of Gods will launch at the beginning of June 2023 worldwide, so maybe there will be a teaser. Marvelous is also known for series like Bokujou Monogatari/Story of Seasons, so a new entry in the farming series could be announced. It also was behind some Fate/ and Senran Kagura series too.

This means there will be three showcases in a row over the next few days. Sony's PlayStation Showcase takes place on May 24, 2023. The Honkai: Star Rail 1.1 Special Program airs on May 26, 2023.

People can watch the Marvelous Games Showcase on May 25, 2023 at at 3pm PT/6pm ET.

Genshin Impact Wanderer Name Change

Some players reported that HoYoVerse is forcing them to change the name of their Wanderer (Scaramouche) character in Genshin Impact. Players affected by this policy will receive a letter in the in-game mail system, along with a free An Appellative Stroke item. Only players whose Wanderer shares a name with an upcoming Genshin Impact character will need to change it. [Thanks, お惣菜屋 on Twitter!]

The player who seems to have first encountered the issue is a Japanese player named お惣菜屋 who named their Wanderer "Chiori." Unfortunately, when Kirara debuted in Version 3.8, her voice lines and story mention a character named Chiori, who is a fashion designer in Inazuma. The problem is that no one ever brought up Chiori prior to Version 3.8. So it was impossible for the player to have known about them when they named their Wanderer.

There are several rules for what names you can give Wanderer in Genshin Impact. You can't name him any of his old aliases or give him the same name as a playable character. Because Chiori will apparently become playable in the future, this now makes their Wanderer's name illegal by HoYoVerse's standards. Some players have commented about the unfairness of the situation. For instance, not everyone pays attention to leaks. With this particular name, Genshin Impact's Chiori came out five versions after Wanderer's debut. So players might retroactively get in trouble just because they gave their Wanderer a name that HoYoVerse wants to use in a future update.

Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. HoYoVerse is working behind the scenes to solve the issue, so it will likely find a way to prevent similar problems from happening in the future.

How to Beat Honkai: Star Rail Echo of War: Destruction's Beginning

After you get to a certain point in Honkai: Star Rail, you'll unlock the Echo of War weekly boss fights against opponents like Destruction's Beginning's Doomsday Beast. These are the foes you'd face during the Trailblazer Missions. However, as you unlock your Trailblaze Level, you'll be able to take on tougher versions of these challenges. While Doomsday Beast can be a little frustrating, due to how many parts it has, it is still a pretty manageable one at most difficulties.

How do you find Echo of War: Destruction's Beginning Doomsday Beast weekly boss in Honkai: Star Rail?

First, you need to finish the "In the Dangerous Swamp" Trailblazer Mission on Jarilo-VI. You won't see any Echo of War weekly boss fights in Honkai: Star Rail until you do.

Once that is accomplished, though, you'll find Echo of War: Destruction's Beginning on Herta Space Station on the eastern side of the Supply Zone map. You can see it highlighted in the picture below. After visiting it once, you can teleport to it via the Survival Index.
[gallery columns="1" size="full" ids="964984" link="file"]

What kinds of characters should be brought in to face the Doomsday Beast in Honkai: Star Rail?

It is weak against four types of elements. Bringing in people with Fire, Ice, Physical, and Wind attacks will benefit you. The Trailblazer avatar could be a good fit, since you have both Fire and Physical options for them.

Here are some characters you could consider:

  • Fire: Asta, Himeko, Hook, and Trailblazer
  • Ice: Gepard, Herta, March 7th, Pela, and Yanqing
  • Physical: Clara, Natasha, Sushang, and Trailblazer
  • Wind: Bronya, Dan Heng, and Sampo
  • As for a team composition, I think it's wise to go in with one person who can create shields and another who can act as a healer. Your remaining two should be your damage dealers. This means people like Gepard, March 7th, and Natasha could all be handy. Himeko helped us out with this fight during the Trailblazer mission and is still very handy. I also like both the Fire and Physical Trailblazer, as both feature AOE attacks.

What do you get for beating the Echo of War: Destruction's Beginning Honkai: Star Rail Doomsday Beast weekly boss?

The big "get" from this fight is the Destroyer's Final Road. You need this item to upgrade Traces for characters like Arlan, Dan Heng, Himeko, Jing Yuan, March 7th, the Trailblazer, and Welt. So since this is a much-needed item, you'll want to take part in the fight each week.

You can also get some items you'll find via other means. Musketeer of Wild Wheat and Thief of Shooting Meteor Relics can drop. You'll always get Lucent Afterglow for Light Cones. Credits are a given each match too.

The following four-star Light Cones might also drop.

  • Fermata
  • Past and Future
  • Quid Pro Quo
  • River Flows in Spring
  • The Seriousness of Breakfast
  • We are Wildfire
  • Woof! Walk Time!

Honkai: Star Rail is available for PCs and mobile devices, and PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Patch Fixes Private Tournaments

There's a new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet patch, and this one is designed to fix private tournaments. Apparently, the official ones weren't working as they should. Updating to 1.3.1 fixes the issue.

The official Nintendo support page doesn't offer more detailed patch notes yet. At the moment, the only "patch notes" for the 1.3.1 update for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet addressing private tournaments are in the official tweet.

The announcement doesn't mention anything about Pokemon HOME support for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Initially, an announcement said it would be available this week. However, shortly after they walked back the initial release date for compatibility.

It also doesn't bring up a fix for another major Pokemon Scarlet and Violet issue. Right when the Chesnaught, Great Tusk, and Iron Treads Tera Raids were about to begin, a major flaw appeared. People who participated wouldn't get a reward tied to them, and the game would crash as a result. That issue is also supposed to be repaired sometime in the near future.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available for the Nintendo Switch, and patch 1.3.1 is live now.
