Fortnite EvoChrome weapons: How to evolve the new shotgun and rifle

Fortnite EvoChrome weapons introduce players to a brand new mechanic, which involves upgrading weapon rarity through combat. Usually, as in most multiplayer battle royale games, players will spend the match hunting down a better loadout from ground loot, chests or kills. Now, pick up an EvoChrome shotgun or rifle and you could level it up to legendary by the time you take that W.

Fortnite weapons and items can be found in five standard rarities: Uncommon (grey), Common (green), Rare (blue), Epic (purple), and Legendary (gold), with Mythic and Exotic above that. Usually, you have to find weapons of increased rarity, and in previous seasons you could pay to level up your weapons at upgrade benches, but EvoChrome weapons - available as a shotgun and a burst assault rifle - make the process easier by rewarding skill in combat.

Nvidia RTX 4000 – release date, price, specs, and benchmarks

Nvidia RTX 4000 graphics cards are officially here to dethrone the current-gen GeForce RTX 3000 series, but not every GPU in team green's expected line-up saw the light of day. To help you navigate the convoluted waters of announcements, leaks, and rumours, we've compiled everything we know so far about the next-generation pixel pushers.

So far, we've only heard about the potential best graphics card for desktops, but we expect that the GPUs will eventually make their way into the best gaming laptop and as a part of the Nvidia GeForce Now streaming service, too. Each will likely release at different points, but they should all benefit from technologies like Nvidia DLSS 3.0 and Nvidia Reflex.

As much as RTX 4000 GPUs will undoubtedly offer a high level of performance, these next-generation graphics cards may face stiff competition from the likes of AMD RDNA 3 and Intel Arc Alchemist. Thankfully, we've already seen some of what the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, and shouldn't have to wait much longer to find out how the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 stack up against their rivals.

Nvidia RTX 4060 – release date, price, spec, and benchmark rumours

The Nvidia RTX 4060 may be destined for the featherweight GPU ring, but it'll likely be one of the best graphics cards for budget gaming PC builds. While the card will eventually replace the current-gen GeForce RTX 3060, it could surpass the abilities of its high-end ancestors, even if it's not at the top of the RTX 4000 food chain.

The RTX 4060 probably won't be as coveted as the RTX 4090 or RTX 4080, butat least there will be plenty to go around. Moving past component shortages, Nvidia has reportedly invested $10 billion securing RTX 4000 series components which it's come to regret, meaning there should be no stock issues when the time finally rolls around.

It's worth noting that the RTX 4000 series is still shrouded in mystery, and it might even arrive with an RTX 5000 label. Nevertheless, we've gathered together everything we know so far about RTX 4060 release date rumours, its potential price, possible specs, and even what we think it'll benchmark at.

Nvidia RTX 4080 – release date, price, specs, and benchmark rumours

The Nvidia RTX 4080 is now officially a thing, and could be the best graphics card money can buy. While it won't beat the flagship RTX 4090, the RTX 3080 successor should still offer enthusiast levels of performance that stretch beyond the boundaries of mid-tier options.

We now know two RTX 4080 models are on the way, thanks to a GTC keynote reveal by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. While the 12GB model should appeal to gamers on a budget, a 16GB variant will help enthusiasts achieve higher resolutions using the best gaming monitor.

Nvidia RTX 4070 – release date, price, specs, and benchmark rumours

The Nvidia RTX 4070 won't be the best graphics card in terms of specs, but if you're looking to balance price and performance, it could be a winning solution. Just like the GeForce RTX 3070, the green team's next-gen GPU should pair nicely with mid-range gaming PCs, and it might even transform your rig into a ray tracing powerhouse without costing as much as the RTX 4080.

The prospect of grabbing an Nvidia RTX 4070 on release may feel daunting, but component shortages that hampered the cost and availability of the current-gen RTX 3070 might finally be a thing of the past. However, Nvidia has reportedly invested $10 billion in securing RTX 4000 components to help tackle the stock scarcity situation, and ended up lumped with lots of chips it might not even need. The computing giant is also looking into refining its manufacturing processes, as the green team's next-gen GPUs will be fabricated by TSMC instead of Samsung.

If your rig is still rocking a GeForce GTX graphics card, or you've been waiting around for an RTX refresh, you're probably considering jumping straight to Nvidia's next-gen contender. To help you make your next gaming machine move, we've compiled everything we know about RTX 4070 release date rumours, potential specs, and what we think it'll benchmark at before the GPU arrives, with information courtesy of Moore's Law Is Dead and Digitimes.

As expected, Nvidia have announced the GeForce RTX 4090 during their GeForce Beyond livestream – and confirmed the RTX 4080 for good measure. Both GPUs are based on Nvidia's new Ada Lovelace architecture, and will launch this year: the RTX 4090 on October 12th, and the RTX 4080 sometime in November.

Key features of Ada Lovelace, and thus these new cards, include 3rd Gen RT cores, 4th Gen Tensor cores, and a new streaming multiprocessor. These supposedly add up to twice the performance of Ampere (that's the RTX 30 series architecture currently dominating our best graphics card guide) in standard rasterised games, and up to four times the performance in ray traced games. And since Nvidia were clearly in a ray-tracey mood, they also took the opportunity to reveal Portal RTX: a semi-official mod for the original Portal that upgrades it with RT lighting and reflection effects. In a post on its blog, Steamforged said Elden Ring the Board Game will cast players as Tarnished. It'll support both solo play and parties of up to four. They'll experience the games challenging fights through "intelligent, dice-free combat". They'll also visit iconic locations in The Lands Between, and cross paths with characters and enemies from the game. These include foes like Godrick the Grafted. No information about pricing, release date, or even when the Kickstarter campaign will start.

Elden Ring the Board Game will use miniatures in play. Steamforge showed off a preview of its first design, based on Margit, The Fell Omen. Though technically an optional boss in Elden Ring, Margit guards the entrance to Stormveil Castle, and is often one of the earliest bosses players can face.

Elden Ring Board Game

Steamforged Games has a history of crowdfunding board games, as well as adapting video games to tabletop format. It produced board games based on Resident Evil, Dark Souls, and Horizon: Zero Dawn, among others. For its Dark Souls board game, it launched additional expansions focusing on boss encounters, and new "core sets" covering the Painted World of Airamis and Tomb of Giants.

Elden Ring: The Board Game is in development. The video game is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A two-volume art book launches in Japan in late November 2022.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force Demo

The demo version of Square Enix's upcoming Star Ocean: The Divine Force game is now available. First announced last week, it is available on the PS4, PS5, and both the Xbox One and Series X|S. Progress made in the approximately two-hour-long demo will not carry over to the full game upon its release in late October.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force follows two protagonists: Raymond Lawrence and Princess Laeticia. Raymond's spaceship is attacked while he's on a transport mission, causing him to crash land on an underdeveloped planet. There, he meets Laeticia, who is fighting to defend her homeland from invaders. The two of them end up setting out together on a universe-altering adventure.

Players who download the demo for the game will be placed at the start of Raymond's story. They will be able to explore the game's locations while testing out its flight feature, as well as get acquainted with its unique, fast-paced combat system. However, the section of the full game available in the demo has been re-edited. It also has restrictions on certain features, though what exactly those features and restrictions are is not stated. The demo will end when players arrive at Delryk Village.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force releases for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on October 27, 2022. A demo version is available now on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Shawn Layden

Tencent Games, the largest gaming company in the world, has added a new name to its roster: Shawn Layden. Once the President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Layden has joined Tencent Games as a "Strategic Advisor". The change was delivered via an update on Layden's LinkedIn page.

In the post, Shawn Layden said that in his new role, he hoped "to advise, assist, and support the team at Tencent as they deepen their activities and commitments within the industry to which I've devoted the majority of my career." He called the present time "an epoch defining moment in gaming", and said that while there are many possible roads ahead, "only a few are profound, broadening, inclusive, edifying, inspiring, and/or sustainable."

Shawn Layden worked at Sony as part of the PlayStation division since 1996. He was initially hired as a Producer on International Software Development, working out of Tokyo. In 1999, he became Vice-President at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. In 2007, he became President of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, continuing until 2010. He took on the role of Chief Operating Officer of Sony Network Entertainment International and was one of its founding members. In 2014, he succeeded Jack Tretton as President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, becoming a public face of PlayStation until 2018. That year, he moved on to become CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios. In 2019, he stepped down as CEO and left Sony entirely, citing "exhaustion" as a motivating factor. Since then, he's taken on a role as a Strategic Adviser to Streamline Media Group, in addition to his similarly titled role at Tencent Games.

Glitch Busters WrestleQuest

Tokyo Game Show 2022 was packed with indie developers and big publishers alike, but one of the booths that stood out to me was that of Skybound Games. With a giant emoji head floating above the crowd, the booth had a pretty significant presence, despite being sandwiched between the likes of Sega and Bandai Namco. Skybound Games was showcasing two games at the booth. Glitch Busters: Stuck on You, and WrestleQuest. I was able to get a hands-on experience with both games, and each title impressed me in its own way.

Glitch Busters WrestleQuest

The most significant title to me was Glitch Busters, a four-person co-op game where players control a few virus-blasting AI in order to protect a far-flung futuristic internet. As the titular "glitch busters", players are armed with guns and must clear through four different areas, representing various aspects of the internet. Additionally, there are several unique (and incredibly entertaining) gimmicks to the gameplay. Players can stack on top of each other and pull themselves in certain directions using magnetic feet. There are various guns with different shooting styles, as well as robotic suits that help you go through certain obstacles.

Developing the game is Toylogic, a Japan-based developer with over a decade of industry experience. For those unaware, Toylogic has also helped develop numerous popular triple-A titles, including last year's NieR Replicant remake. Knowing this, my expectations were high. And yet, for a studio with relatively little experience in creating original games, Glitch Busters managed to hit a stride that paralleled other games within the co-op party scene. The game had various level settings that allowed players to customize everything from the enemies that appeared to the difficulty and rules that players can play with. And though the game's rules and controls were simple enough to understand right off the bat, the addition of local and online co-op really seemed to keep the game fresh and replayable.

This last point was important, according to one of the producers I talked to. The game's director reportedly used other party games such as Mario Party as inspiration in that regard, and local multiplayer was reportedly a must. In an era where games are increasingly becoming online-only, with local co-op limited to two-player matches, it was refreshing to see a game dedicated to keeping the party lively and at-home.

Another notable game was WrestleQuest, an RPG that may pique the interest of any readers who are fans of pro wrestling. The game is jam-packed with references to the classic pro wrestling era of the '80s and '90s. Better yet, it actually includes the likenesses of real-life pro wrestlers like "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Andre the Giant, Booker T, and more. You start off as an aspiring professional wrestler whose idol is Randy Savage, working up the ranks to become the best wrestler in the world. Unlike past wrestling games, WrestleQuest differentiates itself with an interesting blend of detailed pixel art and an action figure-style aesthetic that is reminiscent of the toys of that same time period.

All of these aesthetics are wrapped around a JRPG-style command battle system that focuses around slamming your opponents and keeping a crowd entertained. Attacks revolve around real-life moves of the most popular wrestlers. Furthermore, while you can keep spamming the same attacks over and over, it's much more effective to mix them up with taunts which will boost the audience's "hype" meter, thereby increasing the power of your moves. You can even pair up with other wrestlers for a tag team match. If you're interested in JRPGs and wrestling, I recommend you give WrestleQuest a go.

Glitch Busters: Stuck on You will release in Winter 2022 for the Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, PS4 and PS5. WrestleQuest will release for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Wuthering Waves

Kuro Game, developer of Punishing Gray Raven, showed off the latest from its next game in a new Wuthering Waves trailer.

The new trailer focuses heavily on the game's combat, and first debuted during the 2022 Tokyo Game Show. Previous trailers highlighted the game's open-world area and available traversal methods.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prbzMwFJhC4

The trailer opens on a boss fight between characters and various sizes of boss enemy, ranging from a larger-than-usual winged foe to a massive turtle-like creature covered in ice. No gameplay HUD elements were visible on-screen. Nevertheless, the footage demonstrated various elements of Wuthering Waves combat, including character-swapping and ultimate attacks. In the case of the turtle boss, the player is able to stun it, then attack what looks to be a weak point: A bell-like structure on its back.

Not much concrete information on the narrative or setting of Wuthering Waves is available, but the story takes place in a world once brought to ruin by the "Calament", some disaster from a century past. The survivors have set about rebuilding after the devastation, but heroic figures are needed to "rejuvenate" mankind. One such person is the "Rover from Beyond", the player character.

Wuthering Waves is in development for mobile platforms, though it does not have a  release window.

The Bird That Drinks Tears GameThe makers of PUBG continue to branch out into something different, bringing their expertise into the horror genre. Krafton is developing a new game based on the Korean fantasy novel, The Bird That Drinks Tears. Be warned, it won't be for the faint of heart. A brief cinematic trailer released today, and the game already looks full of guts, gore, dismemberment, and fantastical swordplay — the perfect horror cocktail. The Bird That Drinks Tears is a series of fantasy novels by Lee Yeongdo that feature common fantasy tropes mixed with aspects of Korean culture. For example, "dokkaebi," Korean deities that possess powers to either help or trick humans, replace your typical elves and demons. One of these creatures, a "Nhaga," is brutally decimated in the trailer when a seemingly important character chops off their head before showing them their flailing body. Now that really sets the mood.   A new fantasy horror game The Bird That Drinks Tears was in...

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide BetFatshark announced that Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be getting a closed beta from October 14 through October 16. The Swedish developer has been working on this next installment for some time now, and fans of both Warhammer 40,000 and Vermintide have been watching closely. This is certainly good news regarding the game's progress, as it has already been hit by delays. As for how much of the game will be available to play during the beta, nothing has been said. We do know that it'll be available through Steam and the Microsoft store thanks to the press release, which reads: "Best start clearing your calendar on the 14th -16th of October! We're opening the gates of Tertium for a Closed Beta Test on PC (Steam and Microsoft Store). So, if you haven't already – go to our sign-up page, fill out the form and you'll get the chance to join in on the carnage."      Ea Motive Studio Iron Man GameElectronic Arts has confirmed that its own Motive Studio is working on a new Iron Man game. The team is taking on the project as it finishes up work on the impressive-looking Dead Space remake. And Motive won't be alone in its endeavors. As part of the announcement, Marvel Games is collaborating on getting Tony Stark back onto the digital scene. EA Motive has also brought in an experienced Marvel video game vet. Olivier Proulx, who worked on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, has taken lead on the project. Motive's Iron Man game will be a single-player, third-person action game. It's still very early in development in the pre-production phase, so don't expect to hear about it again for quite some time. However, in its press release, EA promises that the game "taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it's like to truly play as Iron Man." Hop...

Sackboy A Big Adventure Pc Port Sony 2022It's that time when Sony blesses PC players with another PlayStation exclusive. The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection is due next month, but that's not the only PlayStation exclusive PC players have to look forward to. Potentially joining Uncharted is Sackboy: A Big Adventure, which looks to be getting a PC port. A listing for Sackboy: A Big Adventure has been spotted by SteamDB under the name 'Steel PC.' This mysterious entry was first posted over 11 months ago, but fans could only speculate as to what it was. However, we now have even more proof that it's Sackboy: A Big Adventure thanks to the client icon that was added earlier today.   Rumors of a Sackboy: A Big Adventure PC port have been stirring for some time. A throwaway Reddit account created a post leaking a PC version of A Big Adventure. It claimed that the port would come after the Uncharted Collection and would include raytracing, ambient occlusion, and support supersampling technolo...

Geforce Rtx 40 Series Shader Execution Reordering raytracing gamesNvidia's presentation about Shader Execution Reordering during the RTX 40 Series announcement probably didn't mean much to most gamers. It was a nice bullet point that promised better performance, and expands upon the list of new things that next gen graphics cards will support. However, when you actually look at what it is, what it does, and how it enables future improvements, it's actually pretty huge for game development. So to explain why it's huge, let's talk about the way that processors and GPUs work. To put it simply, GPUs are really good at doing the same thing in multiple simultaneous instances. If you throw 1,000 of the same tasks at a GPU, it will get it done faster than if you threw 500 individual tasks at it. Think of it like this, in a factory does it make sense to have each worker with a drill screw in every type of screw, having to change his drill bit between Phillips head, flat head, and hex bits? Or would it make sense to have one worker assigned t...
