I love Persona 5, but over the years, Atlus' stylish, supposedly socially-conscious RPG hasn't loved me.      Cities Skylines 2 is being ruined by jaywalking pedestrians

Cities Skylines 2 roads and traffic are already difficult to manage. Between new highway ramps, roundabouts, and lane tools, CS2 brings some big improvements, but getting the all-important flow of cars, buses, and trucks just right is one of the greatest challenges in Colossal Order and Paradox's city strategy sim. Unfortunately, there are various reports of a new wrinkle in our grand Cities Skylines 2 building plans, as anarchic-minded pedestrians flaunt the traffic laws and simply walk into the road, causing jams that bring entire blocks to a halt.

The 15 best Minecraft shaders 2023

What are the best Minecraft shaders? With shaders, you can instantly level up the look of your Minecraft world - even without a fancy schmancy RTX graphics card. But with so many downloadable mods for the sandbox game, if you're unsure, let's start with what Minecraft shaders are.

One of the best PC games of all time and the ongoing king of sandbox games, Minecraft has incredible replayability, keeping fans and newbies coming to the game time after time. While the vanilla game still gets regular updates, Minecraft mods, texture packs, resource packs, and shaders can completely reinvent the game, affecting its overall look. For example, mods can completely alter gameplay, and Minecraft texture packs and resource packs change the appearance of existing blocks and add new blocks, respectively. Meanwhile, shader packs give you the same game with fancier graphics and effects.

Persona 5 Tactica review – a decent swansong

It's hard to write this Persona 5 Tactica review without considering the many layers of spinoffs to get to where we are today. Like a freshly baked croissant, we can peel back each one to reveal that, at its core, it's still a Shin Megami Tensei RPG at heart. In Persona 5 Tactica, you still fuse Personae to create stronger bonds, but the similarities with the mainline games end here. It's a decent third story in the Phantom Thieves saga and has some innovative mechanics for a tactical RPG, but it's far from anything spectacular.

Wakey wakey, rise and shine, because the multiverse just got a little bit bigger. The Awakened King DLC is the first installment in a trilogy set to expand Remnant 2's three primary worlds of Losomn, Yaesha, and N'Erud. While N'Erud's biomechanical aesthetic has a special place in my heart, this one-shot adventure takes me back to Losomn to wrap up my favorite storyline. The One True King's conspicuous absence has served as the throughline of the sundered world, leaving a power vacuum filled by all manner of would-be successors that proclaim his death. In so many words, I am assured: "He's not dead, he's just sleeping."

How to unlock the Remnant 2 Ritualist archetype

How do you unlock the Remnant 2 Ritualist? If you've exhausted the base game class selection in Gunfire Games' world-hopping sequel, the odds are high that you've got your eye on the Ritualist. This occult archetype eschews raw firepower in favor of stacking harmful status effects upon foes, inflicting terror, and even draining their own health pool for more damage. If all of the above appeals to you, then unlocking it should be your first priority.

The Ritualist is a Remnant 2 archetype exclusive to the Remnant 2 Awakened King DLC, so that's one obvious barrier to access. Thankfully, the steps to unlock it once you purchase the DLC are fairly straightforward; unlike the Remnant 2 Archon, it requires no special conditions or datamining. Instead, you just have to reach the archetype engram material's secret location in the action-adventure game, and we've scoured the length of the Forlorn Coast to find it. Here's how to unlock the Remnant 2 Ritualist archetype.

The best Elden Ring armor sets

Searching for the best Elden Ring armor sets? If we're being completely honest, there's no point in being good at something unless you look good while you're doing it. The best Elden Ring armor sets can separate you from the rest of the Tarnished out there, providing you with an outfit that can strike fear into the hearts of your enemies.

In this RPG game, upgrading your armaments using Elden Ring smithing stones and Ashes of War is just as important as leveling up your character. There are some armor sets imbued with powerful abilities, though their use largely depends on what type of character you're building. Well, you probably would, because it's Minecraft, the sandbox building sim that contains all possibility and all human endeavour, with the exception of good PvP mechanics, yes I went there.

Anyway, Minecraft update 1.21 is just around the corner, and a few players have gotten early access via Mojang's snapshot releases. The Persona 5 kids are trapped in high school, their semesters stretched into infinity by the inescapable march of spin-offs that have been retroactively stuffed into every available blank spot. Since the credits rolled on Persona 5 (and also before, and sometimes concurrently), the Phantom Thieves have spent their time in a rubbish Dynasty Warriors knock-off, got lost in a dream about a really cheap rhythm-action game and ended up trapped in a cross-generational dungeon crawler. Now they find themselves embroiled in - of all things - an X-COM style turn-based strategy game.

Your energy for Persona 5 Tactica is going to come down to how much tolerance you have for the Persona 5 brand's Baz Luhrmann-style maximalism. If you're emotionally invested in the gang, it'll definitely help. But even if you're a Persona veteran or a total newcomer, you'll find the story a bit loose, the chats a bit tiring, and the combat a bit simplistic. Then again, if you're a Persona fan, it's still more than a good excuse to sink back into another adventure with your pals.

Making a strategy game is "harder than people give it credit for," Bit Reactor's CEO Greg Foertsch tells me. The same could probably be said of any game this year in particular, but having spent over 20 years shepherding the art teams at Firaxis on Civilization, XCOM, Sid Meier's Pirates, Alpha Centauri and most recently Marvel's Midnight Suns, Foertsch has seen firsthand what it takes for strategy games to break new ground over the years, and what an arduous road it's been for the genre to get where it is today. Not only was it "late to party on 3D, they were late to the party on consoles," but it's also "suffered from lower budgets, which means it just hasn't pushed in the way that other genres have," he says.

Even now, "it's got some catching up to do," he continues, but there are plenty of reasons to be positive, too. As we speak at the beginning of September, our conversation quickly turns to Baldur's Gate 3, whose enormous success Foertsch cites as a clear and obvious sign that "there's a thirst for something different now," both within RPG circles and, perhaps a little unexpectedly, for strategy heads as well. It's his hope that his own upcoming project, the closely guarded Star Wars strategy game his new studio Bit Reactor are working on in collaboration with Respawn, will follow in these lauded footsteps. "We want to make a game and just have people say, 'Man, that's amazing game, and oh, it happens to be strategy.' That's the goal."

genshin impact keychains vision

Pre-orders are open for Vision keychains that look like the ones in Genshin Impact. They cost 2090 JPY ($13.90) each and will ship out on April 30, 2024. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!]

As a side note, Fantasy Village offers international shipping. So you can purchase them directly from the site even if you live overseas. Because Fantasy Village is also importing these items, there's a chance that the release date will change.

This is not the first time that a company has released keychains based on the Visions from Genshin Impact. However, there is far more variety than before. You'll be able to get Visions from Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru in all seven Elements.

Not only can you get the Vision of your favorite character, but there are also combinations that don't exist in the game yet. For example, you can get a Mondstadt Dendro Vision despite the lack of a canon Dendro character from Mondstadt (as of the time of writing).

Other Genshin Impact goods that Fantasy Village offers include acrylic keyholders, boxes, and toys. You can also purchase a mechanical keyboard with a Kokomi keycap set. Though you can't purchase a Fontaine Vision keychain yet, Fantasy Village offers plushes and keychains that look like Blubberbeasts.

Genshin Impact is available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. The Genshin Impact Vision keychains from Fantasy Village will come out on April 30, 2024.

Hyte Persona 3 Reload Y60 PC Case Teased

Atlus revealed the Hyte and iBuyPower Persona 3 Reload Y60 ATX PC case. It is the first look at it online ahead of the appearance of the product at Anime NYC between November 17-19, 2023.

Here's the official announcement. The panels on the outside of the case show various characters from the game. So Makoto, the avatar, is on the diagonal one. On the front of the case are Fuuka, Junpei, and Yukari. On the side are Shinji, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Koromaru, Ken, and Aigis. There's also the new logo for the game featured on it.

https://twitter.com/Atlus_West/status/1724480752644173928

The announcement referred to a Persona 3 Reload Y60 ATX PC case bundle. This wouldn't be the first time Hyte created a bundle tied to a character or series. For example, its official site currently features three Hololive ones. Two involved Hakos Baelz and Ouro Kronii Y60 designs with a desk pad for $280 each, though the Kronii one sold out. There is also a $349.99 Mori Calliope Y40 one with a desk pad and a "gift box."

A number of other Persona 3 Reload announcements appeared recently as well. However, those involved the game, rather than merchandise. For example, the Fuuka and Koromaru trailers appeared in November 2023. The in-battle outfits for Akihiko, Fuuka, and Mitsuru appeared. More Social Link voice actors ended up revealed in Japan as well.

Persona 3 Reload will be released worldwide on February 2, 2024. People will be able to play it on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

Tokimeki Memorial Shiori Nendoroid Is a Dating Sim Deep Cut

Good Smile Company will release a Tokimeki Memorial Shiori Nendoroid in 2024, and the dating sim heroine will come with items for a confession scene. It will show up in Japan in June 2024 for ¥6,500, with the North American release set for Q4 2024 for $40.99.

Shiori is essentially the most recognizable heroine from the series. She appears in many installments and is the player's childhood friend in Tokimeki Memorial. However, she's also a difficult character to win over and earn an ending with, as someone would need to have over 100 points every stats, with some of the requirements being even higher for certain traits.

Konami didn't localize any of the Tokimeki Memorial games. However, people might recognize Shiori. That's because she made a cameo appearance as a playable character in Super Bomberman R.

The Nendoroid will come with items to reference her appearances in the dating sim. She has three face plates. She has a standard smiling face, a shy blushing one, and a third referred to as the Tokimeki expression. She comes with her book bag to carry. There are also some sheets to recreate scenes from the game.

There is also a special pre-order bonus for people who get her from the official Good Smile Company storefronts. They get a stand that features the logo from the game in Japanese. You can see it below.

The Shiori Fujisaki Tokimeki Memorial Nendoroid will appear in June 2024 in Japan and in Q4 2024 in North America. Pre-orders are open until January 18, 2024. There are no official worldwide releases for the Tokimeki Memorial dating sim games.

Review: Persona 5 Tactica Is a Surprisingly Adept Strategy Game

I don't know why I get apprehensive about Persona series spin-offs anymore. Games like Persona Q and Persona 4 Dancing All Night shows these experiments can work, and Persona 5 Tactica is the latest bit of mad science showing yes, even a strategy game tie-in will be a success.

Persona 5 Tactica is a case of trouble finding the Phantom Thieves, as it so often does in the series. The group is at LeBlanc after the end of the base Persona 5 storyline, with the news in the background mentioning that Japan National Diet member Toshiro Kasukabe is missing. Not long after, something happens. The world shifts, they can't hear the normal sounds of the city outside, and the door to LeBlanc changes. When the crew steps outside, they find themselves in the Marie Kingdom, inspired by France, which is run by the villainous Marie and her Legionnaires. After meeting the Rebel Corps leader Erina, and later the missing Toshiro, Joker and his friends commit to doing what they do best, which is righting wrongs, investigating what's going on, and saving the day.

If you've played any of the Mario + Rabbids strategy games on the Switch, then honestly Persona 5 Tactica will feel pretty familiar. You get a limited number of units on each stage, with players allowed three characters in a party for every one. It's a cover-based, turn-based tactical title, with being behind a half-size barrier (indicated by a yellow shield) or full-size one (noted by a red shield) to mitigate or block damage. The goal might be to defeat all or certain enemies, destroy flags, protect someone, or reach certain places. This is done via gun damage, using melee to knock an enemy back and deal damage, and Persona attacks. Sometimes, there's the idea of getting there in a certain number of turns or complete additional objectives for additional bonuses. You get points to unlock additional abilities or passive perks on a skill tree for each character by taking on main missions, side ones, or listening to conversations in the LeBlanc hub. Via each person's unique Persona and Sub-Personas, you can get additional abilities to make them more capable in-battle.

While I get that a strategy game might be new to fans of the series, I did feel like the tutorial for Persona 5 Tactica dragged on a bit. However, throughout the entire first area (and beyond), Atlus keeps introducing new gameplay elements. It's frustrating, as some of the mechanics involved things I could have used earlier or might have already come up before that point. Part of this could be because of my familiarity with the genre, but even on the harder difficulty levels this first section seemed to drag out implementation of ideas a bit.

Which is weird as the pacing is otherwise pretty good. The story flows well, and the challenge builds up in a satisfying manner. The side missions you can take often are more difficult than the mainline ones and require you to think creatively to solve specific objectives, such as getting a character to a point on the other side of the map in a single turn. Maps typically don't take too long, with many feeling like they could easily be cleared in around five to seven turns, though in many cases it's entirely possible to get through them in a shorter period of time.

However, what I did notice is that I generally found myself relying on certain characters quite often depending on the situation, even if they hadn't "rested" and weren't at their "best" when selecting them. If I needed to reach a specific point on the map, I'd pick the 7-movement characters like Yusuke and Morgana, as well as someone with 6-movement range. If it was about clearing out all enemies, I found Joker, Haru, Ryuji, Makoto, Morgana, and Yusuke worked best. The innate perks for certain characters, like higher gun-based damage if Joker is in the party, outweighed the benefits of using other people.

Especially since a Persona's skill type influence status effects or side effects. So while Ann would be weak to Ice in Persona 5 and Royal, because Carmen would be, here there's no such weakness. This means I found Haru, Makoto, and Morgana universally useful, because Milady's Psi skills, Makoto's Frei abilities, and Zorro's Garu ones could cause enemies' positions to move due to the Hypno, Vortex, and Sweep effects. Likewise, Yusuke's Goemon Bufu abilities or Ryuji's Captain Kidd Zio skills would Freeze or Shock enemies for a turn due to their ice or electric typing, which could be good for some challenges. Yes, it means that you can use anyone in every fight, which I really appreciated. It meant I could use whoever I liked. However, I was a bit disappointed to see a signature part of the series taken out, especially since it removed a possible strategic element.

At least other Persona game features are present in Persona 5 Tactica and used in a way where it enhances the a player's strategy. Having a Sub-Persona for everyone is nice, since it can provide an additional type of status effect. Though to be honest, I found loading them up with passive abilities via the Sub-Persona was often even more useful. The "1-More" attack for landing a critical hit on, say, an enemy outside of cover is fantastic for covering more of the map or hitting optional objectives. It is also super satisfying to knock an enemy down via a critical, allowing you to arrange the three units in a triangle for the Triple Threat All-Out Attack that deals fantastic AOE damage to any foe in its range. If you can manage to get the high ground and set up a Follow-Up Attack by knocking an opponent down, that feels so good too! I felt like it made up for moments when you realize you limited your own progression due to allied characters not being able to "pass through" other members of your party. Baton Pass is also around, though you can only shift a standby ally in if an active party member's HP drops to 0.

Review: Persona 5 Tactica Is a Surprisingly Adept Strategy Game

I had a lot of fun with Persona 5 Tactica, especially after I took the risk to crank the difficulty up on the strategy game so friendly fire would be enabled. The characters, Personas, and concept all adapted well to the genre shift. Atlus also executed it in a way that makes it easy for people new to tactical titles can wade into it without encountering too many barriers. I do wish there'd been more elemental elements to it and certain characters didn't feel a little too perfect for every situation, but it is entertaining and I appreciated the creativity behind the design direction.

Persona 5 Tactica will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on November 17, 2023. DLC that adds Goro Akechi and Kasumi Yoshizawa will appear at launch.

Remnant 2 - Secrets of the Red Empress: All storylines, rewards and lootThe first Remnant 2 DLC has been released, and due to the complex nature of the multi-world levelling, it may be a little tricky to figure out how to start it. Not a lot in Remnant 2 is straightforward. Thankfully, this small task is. Getting into Remnant 2's The Awakened King DLC Gunfire Games The first thing you need to ensure is that you actually own the DLC for Remnant 2. Head to whatever store you bought the game from, and search for The Remnant King. This should tell you if you have purchased the DLC. Once you have ensured you own the DLC, open up Remnant 2. You must have completed at least one run-through of the Losomn world. At the World Stone, you need to select the option to Reroll Adventure Mode in the Adventure Mode option. You can then select The Awakened King DLC to play. If this is your first time running through the Remnant 2 DLC, you can select the option to 'One Shot' it. This guarantees the DLC occurring in t...
