PCGamesN Sunday, December 5, 2021 1:10 PM ![]() With the release of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 today, developer Epic has finally done what they've been promising for a while - and have moved the entire battle royale game over to Unreal Engine 5, the latest version of its own graphics technology. Back in 2020 with the launch of Unreal Engine 5, Epic promised that it would migrate its most popular game Fortnite to the new graphics engine by "mid-2021", which obviously didn't happen when it was supposed to. Fortnite has used Unreal Engine 4 since its inception, so players have probably been wondering when the battle royale would finally transition to the improved tech. That time is now, apparently, as with the release of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 today the game has officially been upgraded to Unreal Engine 5 - which probably explains why today's 19.00 update was so sizeable. It should mean the game looks and performs better, as well as having better effects and extra detail on objects. RELATED LINKS: Fortnite V-Bucks, Fortnite Skins, Fortnite Creative Codes |
PCGamesN Sunday, December 5, 2021 12:21 PM ![]() The official Halo Infinite release date is just days away but the reaction to the early release of the multiplayer side - and the backlash to certain decisions, such as the lack of Slayer playlists, has reportedly "spiraled out of control" to the point where the whole Halo Reddit page has been locked. Halo Infinite's multiplayer side released for free in November for the series' 20th anniversary, which many fans were happy with. However, a few decisions have been met with criticism - such as the aforementioned Slayer playlists being missing, frustration over XP earning and progression in the game's Battle Pass, and the inability for many to earn some of the rewards in the Fracture: Tenrai event. According to mods on the r/Halo subreddit, this criticism and backlash has "spiraled out of control", and the "amount of toxicity on the sub from both sides" has forced them to lock the page for any new posts. The subreddit will reopen on Monday, when they're hopeful fans will "settle down a bit". RELATED LINKS: Halo Infinite release date, Halo Infinite system requirements, Halo Infinite ranks |
PCGamesN Sunday, December 5, 2021 11:41 AM ![]() The first teaser trailer for the Resident Evil live-action Netflix series has appeared online. The trailer was released by Netflix but was pulled - although not before fans got ahold of it - as it reveals that the Resident Evil series will probably have a zombie dog in it. The live-action Resident Evil series coming from Netflix was revealed back in 2019 and is supposedly based in the same continuity as either the Milla Jovovich movies or this month's Welcome To Raccoon City reboot - none of which are particularly well-loved by critics. The series will contain eight one-hour episodes in its initial season and may even be split across two time periods and locations. The live-action show is entirely separate from the other Resident Evil Netflix series that debuted earlier this year in July - the CGI-animated Infinite Darkness, which is actually set in the same continuity as the games and features Resident Evil 2 protagonists Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield hanging around the White House.
