Sony's official PSVR 2 trailer invites viewers to "Feel a New Real". It focuses heavily on the new bells and whistles being incorporated into the PlayStation VR 2 in its pairing with the PS5. It includes looks at a number of planned games for the platform, such as Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Firewall Ultra, and Resident Evil Village's VR mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5L9Mvh7tAk For average viewers and those who weren't physically present at this year's Tokyo Game Show (where the PSVR 2 was playable) or during preview sessions held for press and influencers, this PSVR 2 trailer is one of the more detailed looks available. It focuses on some of the new features being introduced to bring Sony's VR solution into line with (or ahead of) top-end PC-based VR setups. Of particular note in the headset is the addition of eye tracking, which uses internal sensors to detect and follow the wearer's focus. In Firewall Ultra, the feature is used to make switching weapons easier. Eye-tracking also enables Foveated Rendering, a feature that allocates system resources to selectively enhance the parts of the game that the player is actually looking at, improving the graphics without unnecessarily burdening the hardware. The setup also allows force feedback in the headset itself, and the same Tempest 3D audio technology used in the PS5 console for better 3D soundscapes when wearing headphones. The PSVR 2 trailer also highlights features used in the two included hand controllers. For the PSVR 1, hand controllers were an optional purchase and were based on the PS3-era PS Move wands. The new controllers, however, have the same haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features used in the PS5's DualSense controller. They also have finger touch detection, allowing for a simulation of a player's grip without needing to hold a button. The PSVR 2 releases in "early 2023". Sony hasn't unveiled details about the hardware's pricing or distribution. Earlier last week, it confirmed that the setup would not be compatible with games for the PSVR 1, meaning that players who own the previous-gen headset will need to keep it around to play the games bought for it. Hardware maker Logitech has officially revealed its new handheld console: The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld. The device is focused on facilitating cloud-based game streaming through services like Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Logitech previously teased the device as part of an announcement involving its partnership with Tencent to build the device. At the time, though, there were no images or videos of the hardware in action. Logitech's teaser shows off the finalized device (or something close to it). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt2fPvOARq4 The Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld features a touch screen with a 1080p resolution, as well as face buttons, dual analog sticks, two triggers, and two shoulder buttons. The button assignments are remappable and have haptic feedback. It's also relatively lightweight, weighing 463 grams (about 1.02 lbs). For comparison, a standard Nintendo Switch weighs 398 grams (about 0.88 lbs), and a Steam Deck weighs 669 grams (about 1.5 lbs). The innards of the Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld are based on those of mobile devices. It uses an octa-core Snapdragon 720G (similar to that in a Samsung Galaxy A52). It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable via MicroSD card. Logitech says that the battery will last up to 12 hours and recharge in 2.5 hours via USB-C. It has stereo speakers and a stereo microphone. It supports Bluetooth 5.1 and USB-C headphones, and, unlike many newer smartphones, maintains a 3.5mm headphone jack. As for games, the Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handheld has native support for both GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming (currently in beta). Players with their own gaming PCs or Xbox consoles can use Steam Link and the Xbox app for Remote Play, too. It was not mentioned if the device will support the PlayStation 4/5 Remote Play app, though. Finally, players can download apps from the Google Play store, too. This opens up nominal support for Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, Android games, and streaming video service apps like YouTube and Netflix. For instance, developer Media Molecule is known for making similar games, like Little Big Planet and Dreams. But How does Plasma aim to tackle the genre? Lars Wingefors, the co-founder of developer Volition's parent company Embracer Group, recently acknowledged the underwhelming performance of the new Saints Row, saying that he hoped the gaming public's reception would have been more favorable than it was. Looking ahead, Nvidia has given players a look at how the upcoming shooter will perform on the RTX 4090 with a new framerate cap. In a new gameplay video which you can see below, Nvidia shows off Overwatch 2 running at more than 460 fps with a resolution of 1440p. On September 15, Call of Duty Next took place and revealed more details about the future of the franchise. This included a full multiplayer reveal, a first look at Warzone 2, confirmation of a DMZ mode, and more. Shortly after, the Modern Warfare 2 beta went live. This allowed fans to dive into some of the maps, game modes, and the unique third person perspective feature. During the beta, one player encountered something a little different. They found a glitch which took them to the Warzone 2 menu while in the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer beta. While playing the first weekend of the beta which was exclusive to PlayStation users, Reddit user Sybrun found themselves outside of multiplayer. Instead, they were greeted with a screen, which seemed to give them the option to join a Warzone 2 private match. Persona 5 and the franchise as a whole bring the hits in terms of its soundtrack, but it's not bringing much in terms of Persona's future as a whole. Atlus has stated that the upcoming Super Live P-Sound concert will only be used as a venue to allow fans to reminisce on the funky tunes of Persona, and no major game announcement will be made. The PC version's Metacritic score sits at 79, and the Steam user score is at a solid "mostly positive." Hot off the heels of last year's Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, developer Yacht Club is back again to collaborate with another dev for another rogue-lite release. Shovel Knight Dig doesn't have the amount of run variation that the previous puzzler had, but there are a ton of level chunks, considering the length of the game.
