Final Fantasy 14 Breaks Down Everything You Need To Know For PS5 Open Beta

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker - Sage

One of the best redemption stories of gaming is Final Fantasy 14, the ongoing MMORPG that launched in a less than stellar state, but has since gone on to be one of the last big titles in the genre continuing on. The game has been a staple of PC and PlayStation gaming for several years now, and now the title will come to PS5. They hope to have you ready for the launch of the open beta tomorrow, too.

In an extensive post on the official PlayStation blog, Square breaks down everything you'll need to know ahead of the launch of the open beta tomorrow. There is a lot here, far more than we could just sum up quickly, but it's mixture of new things for the port such as DualSense features and the improved loading and 4K graphics, as well as tips for how to jump into the game. If you're new or just want a brush up on this new version, it's well worth the read.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC. The PlayStation 5 version does not have an official release date as of now, but an open beta will come on April 13th, which you can read more about through here.

Battlefield 6's Latest Leak Talks Reveal, 128 Player Battles, And More – Rumor

Battlefield 5 War in the Pacific

It's been a good while now since the Battlefield series has been on the shelf, but rumors seem to point to the series coming back in a big way this year. And what a crazy amount of rumors it's been, with leaks coming out about the game's setting, as well as its extensive campaign and co-op options. Now, we have even more about the potential reveal.

Known leaker Tom Henderson has shared a few more details. Primarily, he talked about the game's reveal, which he said will show off a desert map, though probably will not be full gameplay. He also gave his own drawing on a shot from the alleged trailer, which you can see here. Along with that, he also shared the game will have a unique weather system, and the ability to have 128 players on some maps in 64v64 battles, complete with pilotable Ospreys. Big thanks to DSOGaming for transcribing the information.

Henderson has been reliable about Battlefield leaks in the past, but as always with leaks or rumors of any kind, take it with a grain of salt. Battlefield 6, or whatever it will be called, will most likely be revealed later this year.

BioShock 4 Could Utilize An Open World Setting, Per Job Listing

bioshock

The BioShock franchise has always been an interesting one to look back on. It had three very successful and acclaimed titles and then just…kind of stopped. There's a few reasons for that, but they aren't largely relevant since we know a new game has been in development since 2017. We know little about it, however, and only bits and pieces that comes from areas like job listings. Now, we have a tidbit that could point to what direction 2K is keen to take the sci-fi series.

A job listing for Senior Writer is live now at Cloud Chamber, who is developing this new title. As spotted by PCGamesN, tucked away subtly is they are looking to "find someone who can weave impactful, character-driven stories in an open world setting." This would indicate that the current direction of the game is an open world title of some kind. That also jives with other information we've gleamed of the game from other listings, such as the mention of a sandbox world of some kind, which you can read more about through here

BioShock 4, or whatever it will be called, has not been officially announced. As it stands now, it seems as if the game, in whatever form it'll take, is still a good ways off.

MLB The Show 21 Preload Now Up For Xbox Series X/S And Xbox One

MLB The Show 21_03

The story of MLB The Show for this year has been a wild one, to say the least. Despite being a Sony developed title, as well as a longtime staple IP for the company, the 2021 edition of the game was announced to be coming to Xbox systems for the first time. It also was then revealed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass day and date, which is quite something. Now, you can preload on those systems as well.

People have reported that the preload option is now available on both generations of Xbox consoles the baseball sim will land on. The Xbox Series X/S version is said to both be roughly 72 GB, while the Xbox One version clocks in at about 45 GB. These sizes could change closer to release, however, if there are any day 1 updates or patches, so keep that in mind.

In addition to those platforms, MLB The Show 21 will release on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, which also have preloads live now.

Sonic Colors Remaster Potentially In The Works

There is much talk about Sonic in the movies lately, as the first film adaptation of the blue icon was a success, and a second film has officially been greenlit and will rush into theaters in the early part of 2022. But Sonic is, first and foremost, a video game character. Despite having an off year in 2020, it seems that at least one title could see a return in the state of a remaster of an older favorite.

As reported by Gematsu, a German voice-over studio, iksample, listed Sonic Colors Remastered as part of their portfolio. The company's website is currently down. Not long after, a listing for something called Sonic Colors Ultimate popped up at French retailer Sogamely for PS4, Xbox One and Switch, but also has since been removed.

If you're unfamiliar, Sonic Colors released in 2010 for Wii and DS. Despite sharing the same name, both games were actually different titles with the DS version being built explicitly around the dual screen setup of that system. Which version this remaster would be based on, or potentially a collection of both, is anyone's guess if this thing is real. We'll keep you updated if something official is announced.

Blood And Truth Developer's PS5 Title Is Listed As Brand New IP

blood and truth

Blood and Truth was one of the PSVR's first big titles, and its developer, SIE London Studio, proved they were once again front and center of Sony's latest tech. The studio has always been one of the first developers to create something for whatever new hardware project their parent company is cooking up, from the PSVR to the Eyetoy. Now it seems they are working on something else all new.

At the end of last year, some job listings from the studio let the cat out of the bag that the studio was working on a PS5 title. as well as even more pointing to that this month. We still don't know what that actually is, but some new listings have popped up for Lead Technical Artist and Lead VFX Artist (which you can see for yourself through here) that reiterate the title as being for the PS5 as well as a new property, stating the studio is working on "a brand new, next-gen IP."

With Sony officially announcing the that they will make a follow up to the PSVR, it's looking likely that the studio is probably working on a new title for it, though with it being a brand new IP apparently, that means it probably isn't Blood and Truth 2, unless both are being worked on at the same time. Only time will tell.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Rated for Xbox One by PEGI

microsoft flight simulator

Given how technically impressive and gorgeous Microsoft Flight Simulator is, it's no surprise that it can be taxing even for some of the more high-end PCs out there. The game's due out on Xbox Series X/S later this year, and while Microsoft's new consoles certainly have the hardware to run the game (or at least a version of the game), many have given up hope of that ever happening on the significantly weaker Xbox One.

It's possible, however, that it does end up happening. PEGI, the European ratings board, has handed a rating for Microsoft Flight Simulator on the Xbox One. The release date mentioned in the rating is obviously a placeholder, but with no Xbox One version of the game announced, this rating does came as a surprise. The question, of course, is if this is a mistake on PEGI's part (and it wouldn't be the first time that's happened of late), or if it's spilling the beans on an upcoming announcement.

For what it's worth, Microsoft has previously said that an Xbox One version of Flight Simulator hasn't been completely ruled out, and might be something they look into once the game is out on Xbox Series X/S.

Meanwhile, the game launches for Xbox Series X/S this Summer, but doesn't yet have a more concrete release date.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 4 – Patch 1.1 Reduces CPU Usage, Improves Load Times on PC

Some minor translation issues in the game and launcher have also been fixed.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart – Insomniac Working on Sharing More News

ratchet and clank rift apart

Ratchet and Clank games are almost always guaranteed to be great, but the upcoming Rift Apart is looking like it's going to take the series to a whole another level, not just because it is promising to delivering more of the same bombastic, charming action-platforming gameplay the series is known for, but also because it's going to use the PS5's hardware for its game design in interesting ways. Naturally, people are excited to hear and see more about the game, and though it's been a while since Insomniac or Sony last provided an update on it, that might be about to change soon.

Taking recently to Twitter, Insomniac Games acknowledge that fans are "antsy for more news", and gave assurances that the developer has "plans in place right now" to provide another update on Rift Apart. Insomniac didn't provide a time frame for when this new update can be expected, only asking fans to "hang tight", but did say that people "will be pleased with what we have to share."

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is due out for PS5 on June 11. If you have a hankering for Ratchet content and just can't wait until then, the 2016 reboot recently got a 60 FPS update for the PS5, so you can always check that out.

Why is RIP Fortnite Trending on Twitter? Controversy Explained

New Peely Skin Fortnite

It's not a day that ends in 'Y' without people claiming that an extremely popular and competitive online game is dead. Here's what's up with #RIPFortnite.

If you've hopped on Twitter over the last several hours, you might have noticed that "RIP Fortnite" is a trending hashtag.

So what's the deal? Is Fortnite dead–like, actually dead? Are people just upset about changes in the newest season?

Here's everything you need to know about the "RIP Fortnite" hashtag.

  • MORE: Fortnite x Rocket League: What are the Llama Rama Challenges

Why is RIP Fortnite Trending on Twitter?

So here's the deal: Fortnite isn't shutting down or dead or whatever else you might want to call it. People are currently upset and tweeting with the "RIP Fortnite" hashtag for one of two reasons. The first is that they simply think the game and its community are old news and "dead." The other reason is a little bit more complicated.

Epic Games is trying to crack down on wager matches by telling popular streamers who promote them that they'll be banned unless they stop. Wager matches are exactly as they sound: a type of unofficial game mode that has people betting on who will win the match. Despite being against the Terms of Service agreement that every Fortnite player agrees to when playing the game, popular streamers like Clix have been promoting them.

"RIP Fortnite" is trending because a lot of people think that these wager matches have been keeping the game alive. Even though it promotes gambling to children, a lot of people are upset over Epic Game's newfound strictness.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2: Patch Notes, Release Date

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2

Cyberpunk 2077 had been one of the most hyped games of last year. However, much to the disappointment of fans, the game had a lot of issues at launch, and it failed to live up to expectations. In fact, the game's poor optimization on last-gen consoles led to its removal from the PlayStation Store.

After the backlash it received at launch, the developers posted an apology promising fans that it will be releasing two major updates to fix the issues the game had. The 1.1 Patch was released back in January, and it did bring a number of improvements to the game, ranging from crash fixes to memory usage improvements. Here is what we know about the next patch, Update 1.2 so far.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2: Release Date

When CD Projekt Red issued an apology back in December, it had stated that the first patch will come in January, followed by the second one in February. The first patch came on time, but just after that, the company was hit by a cyber attack that disrupted its plans, causing the patch to be delayed.

Now, the patch is slated to be releasing this month itself. With just less than a week left for March to end, we will get the 1.2 Update pretty soon. However, as of now, the release date hasn't been announced. That being said, the developers have stated that the patch is being tested, so it shouldn't be long before we get the update.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2: Patch Notes

The patch notes of the 1.2 Update haven't been shared yet. However, in a recent Night City news report, the developers have highlighted what fans can expect from the update. Here is a gist of everything confirmed so far.

  • Police will be responding to crimes slower than earlier.
  • Drones will be assisting the police in assessing crimes.
  • A new steering sensitivity slider will be added to the game.
  • The Steering has been optimized to make it smoother and more more consistent whenever there is a drop in the framrate.
  • A new feature will be added which help players get their cars freed when stuck
  • Right now, double tapping on a movement key makes the character dodge. This will be disabled in the next update.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Who Is Isaiah Bradley?

isaiah bradley falcon and winter soldier

The second episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is now available on Disney+ and many fans were left with the same question, who is Isaiah Bradley?

For those that may not have caught up with the latest episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier you have been officially warned, there are spoilers ahead.

  • FORTNITE: How To Get The Psylocke Skin – Marvel Outfits Return

Who Is Isaiah Bradley?

Episode 2 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier introduced a brand new character to the MCU, Isaiah Bradley. The new character was portrayed by Carl Lumbly and although this is his first appearance in the MCU, it appears the character is a pivotal part of the super-soldier storyline.

Isaiah Bradley isn't a made-up character just for the MCU, he is actually a character that appeared in the Marvel comic books. Bradley is depicted as an early outcome of the USA's Super-Soldier program, which fans will know is how Steve Roger's Captain America came into existence during World War II.

In simpler terms, Isaiah Bradley is another Captain America. In the Marvel Comic Book universe, Isaiah took on the name of Captain America after it was presumed Steve Rogers had died.

During Episode 2, Sam and Bucky head to Baltimore to meet Isaiah Bradley, who is now an elderly and confused man.

Bradley informed Bucky and Sam that he stopped using his powers a long time ago because he believed the process of being turned into a super-soldier was government-sanctioned torture. Bucky then insists that Bradley was a hero and one of the soldiers that HYDRA truly feared. Bucky knows that HYDRA feared Isaiah because the two were on opposite sides back in the '50s.

It looks like this won't be the last time we see or hear of Isaiah Bradley, but fans will have to wait until next Friday (April 2) to see where Episode 3 takes The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 2

Fans can watch "The Star Spangled Man", which is the second episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, right now on Disney+.

The runtime is 50 minutes long, so get comfy, get the snacks, and get watching!

New episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are released every Friday.

Monster Hunter Rise Layered Armor – How To Redeem, Equip and Stats

Monster Hunter rise layered armor

The time has arrived – Monster Hunter Rise is here and players all over the world are beginning the hunt.

Those who pre-ordered Capcom's latest entry into the series received some interesting pre-order bonuses, in the form of Layered Armor. Those who purchased the Deluxe Edition would have received some too.

Here is everything you need to know about the bonuses.

  • WATCH OUTApex Rathalos to Join Monster Hunter Rise next month.

What Layered Armor is available in Monster Hunter Rise?

For pre-ordering Monster Hunter Rise, players gained access to a pair of Layered Armor items, they are as follows:

  • Palamute Retriever Costume layered armour
  • Palico Forest Cat Costume layered armour

Players who purchased the Deluxe Edition of the game also gained access to three more Layered Armor items – these are:

  • Kamurai Hunter layered armor set
  • Shuriken Collar Palamute layered armor piece
  • Fish Collar Palico layered armour piece

How to redeem and equip the Layered Armor pre-order bonus.

  • MORE – Monster Hunter Rise Deluxe vs Standard Edition – What's Included

Redeeming these items is relatively simple.

First of all, players need to get far enough through the game to speak to Hinoa, the Quest Maiden.

Following that, players should receive a prompt, letting them know the extra content is available.

From there, players can head across to the courier (who is actually a Palico) and initiate a conversation with them. Players will need to select the "Add-on Content" option and then they can simply accept all items.

Equipping the items is equally as simple. Players just head across to the Item Box, select the "Layered Armor Sets" section and then equip the armor they require.

What Stat Boosts does the Layered Armor offer?

Unfortunately, none. The Layered Armor items in the Monster Hunter series offer no boosts and are purely there for cosmetic purposes.

Monster Hunter Rise Character Creation: How to Change Your Appearance

Today is the day that eager Monster Hunting fans have been waiting for as it hits the Nintendo Switch.

Unless you are one of Masaki Hiyama's employees, who runs Japanese VR development company, Mark-on, and you have been given the day off, chances are that you're going to have to wait until after work to play Monster Hunter Rise.

MORE: Apex Rathalos to Join Monster Hunter Rise – What is This Fearsome Monster?

Or maybe you were clever enough to book it off. Either way, Monster Hunter Rise releases today on the Nintendo Switch. While players will want to get stuck in and start their hunting spree as soon as possible, let's start off with how you can look your best killing monsters.

How to change your appearance in Monster Hunter Rise

We all know what it's like to get fed up with how we appear after awhile so thankfully, changing how you look in Monster Hunter Rise can happen without fuss at any time.

All players have to do is head to their room in Kamura by quick travelling and opening the Item Box or alternatively, players can interact with the Item Box near Hinoa by choosing to change their appearance from the options.

Once you have done that, you'll then notice a screen that allows you to change up how you look in character creation like when you initially started to craft your character at the beginning.

You'll then have the choice of choosing different options from clothes, makeup and hair to eyebrows and whether you would like a fancy beard. Just to be clear, you can't change your gender or change how your Palamute or Palico looks.

Risk of Rain 2: How to Unlock Hidden Character Heretic + Skills

risk of rain 2 heretic

A brand new Anniversary Update for Risk of Rain 2 went live on March 25, and it brought a brand new mystery survivor known as the Heretic.

Here's everything you need to know about the new character, and how you can play as the Heretic. If you haven't seen it already, DualShockers have got the full patch notes and information surrounding the Risk of Rain 2 Anniversary Update, you can check it out at the link below.

What Is Risk of Rain 2?

Risk of Rain 2 is a third-person shooter developed by Hopoo Games, it was released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in August of 2020. The game most recently received an Anniversary Update to celebrate 2 years since the release of it's Early Access version.

The sequel to the popular title Risk of Rain follows a similar approach in terms of gameplay, up to four players must progress through several levels whilst taking out enemies.

Each of these levels will have a teleporter that players must find and activate, once activated they must survive the hoard of enemies and bosses until the teleporter is fully activated.

One of the biggest changes from the original title, is Risk of Rain 2 is now set in a 3D environment as opposed to 2D.

Risk of Rain 2 is available right now on Steam, PlayStaion 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.

How To Unlock Heretic In Risk of Rain 2

If you're wondering how you can play as Heretic after the latest update on March 25, here's how.

The Heretic is a unique character that isn't actually playable from the character select screen, instead, there's a different method to obtaining this character.

To play as the Heretic you will need to collect all four of the Heresy Items in-game, you will then turn into the Heretic. It's also worth noting that since the latest update, there has been two new Heresy Items added, meaning there are now four to collect.

Unfortunately, even after you collect the four Heresy Items, the Heretic won't become a selectable character to play with. If you want to continue playing as the Heretic in Risk of Rain 2, you will need to continuously collect the four items.

Heretic Skills

So what special abilities or skills does the Heretic have? Well, the abilities will come from the Heresy Item set. This means that you will have the following abilities as the Heretic:

  • Visions of Heresy – Hungering Gaze
Fire a flurry of tracking shards that detonate after a delay, dealing 120% base damage.
  • Hooks of Heresy – Slicing Maelstrom
Charge up a projectile that deals 175% damage per second to nearby enemies, exploding after 3 seconds to deal 700% damage and root enemies for 3 seconds.
  • Essence of Heresy – Ruin
Dealing damage adds a stack of Ruin for 10 seconds. Activating the skill detonates all Ruin stacks at unlimited range, dealing 300% damage plus 120% damage per stack of Ruin.
  • Strides of Heresy – Shadowfade
Fade away, becoming intangible and gaining +30% movement speed. Heal for 18.2% of your maximum health. Lasts 3 seconds.

The Heretic also has a total of 440 health (+132 per level) and deals a total of 18 damage (+3.6 per level).

New to the game is the playable Delhi Sultanate civilization. In addition, the iconic War Elephant unit will make its return. In true series' fashion, spearmen, archers, and more combat-oriented construction will develop as civilizations start to age-up and skirmishes escalate to war.

Revealed during the global fan preview for the series, the trailer below takes a look at the new Norman campaign. This campaign tells the story of Duke William of Normandy as he wrestles control of England from King Harold.

Presentation-wise, the game draws inspiration from gilded manuscripts of the time, with the "golden soldiers" projecting historical events over present-day real-world locations.

SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID Review

A risk-reward title that encourages wild driving, kunstwerk's SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID (yes, we checked that we spelled that correctly) has players burning rubber to get ahead. Does this time-honored tradition translate well to this title, or have players seen this play out one too many times before?

SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID Review

Each of SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID's 30 levels keeps things simple and to the point. Your hot set of wheels needs some fuel, and there just so happens to be fuel cans dotting the landscape. With your foot on the gas, players can pick up the pace and enter a skid the moment they turn left or right. Players will be able to do so with either the WASD keys or arrow keys, but there's no need to worry about anything else but direction. Collect each can, watch the screen flash with joy on each one, and move on to the next stage.

However, there lies an always-imminent danger with the buzzsaws that also inhabit each world. Whether they be right in front of you or slowly creeping in from the sides, players will have to contend with these threats as they maneuver around. All poor unfortunate souls that touch one meet an untimely demise, so it pays to be perfect.

This combo is simple at its core, and SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID's minimalistic presentation really drives this fact home. However, what is here works as it should. Players won't be playing around with gears or even hitting the breaks; rather, what is here is pure and works as it should. While it takes some getting used to, those who can wrap their head around its system will enjoy hitting the perfect line to get ahead. It can be tricky at certain moments, but even the most challenging level of the lot can be vanquished without too much frustration.

It's just a shame that this simplicity also applies to this game's depth. Each level has just a handful of gas canisters, and collecting them all in the perfect run can easily be done in less than a minute, if not less than 30 seconds.

While it's nice that this game is a tight package, it also prevents players from coming back to this title again down the road. Completing its suite of levels takes around 40 minutes if you're really pacing yourself, which is good for the price tag but somewhat limited in its lasting appeal. No achievements, timer, or anything other than a menu select with all levels unlocked are available. While it's nice that the color scheme for each level changes on each attempt, there's little variety between each run and levels quickly start to bleed together.

SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID's minimalistic nature is both its greatest strength and its biggest weakness. Boiling the racing genre down to its most basic elements means that there's absolutely no fluff, but this ultimately kills any replayability it may have had.

This review of SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID was done on the PC. The game was purchased digitally.
