Cities Skylines 2 finally gets official mod support, new asset pack

Cities Skylines 2 has had a difficult time getting into shape over the months since it launched. The highly anticipated sequel has faced issues with its in-game economy, traffic AI, and general performance, with fan mods helping to fix some of these problems while creators Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive, publisher of Crusader Kings 3, Stellaris, and more, have worked continually to address others.  Now, after spending a lot of time trying to juggle both fixing and adding to the game, official mod support has just been launched alongside Cities Skylines 2's first asset pack and a 10% off discount.

DBD meets Prey in hit Steam horror game, and it's now less than $10

One of the best parts of Dishonored and Deathloop creator Arkane Studios' 2017 sci-fi game Prey was its alien threats' ability to disguise themselves as ordinary items in the game world. The routine of scanning a room, picking through debris for resources and information, would suddenly transform into a frantic fight against a creature that could hide in plain sight. This aspect of Prey eventually spawned its Typhon Hunt mode, which itself resembled Prop Hunt from Garry's Mod, and has now, with the full launch of Midnight Ghost Hunt, been combined with the multiplayer asymmetric horror of Dead By Daylight into a hit Steam game that you can currently pick up for less than $10.

All Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills and which to unlock

What are the best Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills? As one of two dedicated magic users, the Sorcerer is defensively on the frail side. However, they also have incredible damage potential as a main spellcaster, such as whipping up a blizzard or deploying electrified traps to shock enemies that dare go near it.

Unlike many vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2, this class is relatively simple for you and your pawn to unlock, though you may need to consult the Dragon's Dogma 2 map to find them. Once you unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer vocation, you'll have the power to manipulate the elements at your fingertips, so here are the skills they learn with each level.

Unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer vocation

How do you unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer? This advanced vocation has access to the most powerful spells in the entire game, from seismic tremors to meteor showers. However, the Sorcerer is essentially a glass canon, capable of being easily overpowered by melee attacks.

Unlike many of the other advanced vocations, unlocking the Sorcerer in Dragon's Dogma 2 is easy, and you can do it early in the campaign. One dungeon-spelunking quest is all it takes for this Dragon's Dogma 2 vocation to be open to you and your pawn. We have a list of the levels when you or your pawn can learn all the Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills and even some picks for the best ones to equip, but for now, here are the steps to unlock it.

Needless to say, we're a little worried. Dragon's Dogma 2 Pawns are more than just AI helpers; they're the lifeblood of your party, remaining by your side to offer advice and a helping hand while you go up against the most challenging Dragon's Dogma 2 bosses in the open-world game. The notion that we might lose one of them to a deadly disease seems unthinkable. Thankfully, we can tell you exactly how Dragonsplague works in Dragon's Dogma 2 in hopes that you can avoid the potential disaster.

I never meant to have my peaceful nation of Brazilian builders turn into a fanatical theocracy, intent on uniting the world in worship of their god by whatever means necessary. I never intended to go from everyone's favorite neighbor to a frothing band of proselytizing zealots, shouting down from floating balloons to convert entire populations to our religion. Microsoft has devised a system to massively reduce the amount of VRAM required by ray tracing in games, potentially meaning that we don't need to keep piling more and more memory onto future graphics cards.      How to unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Magick Archer vocation

How do you unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Magick Archer vocation? If firing regular arrows just isn't enough for you, if you long for a more potent ranged option to compliment your bruiser-like Fighter Pawn, then the Magick Archer is the job for you. However, this vocation isn't available immediately, and you have to go to some lengths to unlock it.

The Dragon's Dogma 2 vocations are varied and offer players a way to change how they battle it out with foes completely. The Dragon's Dogma 2 Thief, for instance, thrives on being up close and personal; clinging to large enemies to deal immense amounts of damage. The Dragon's Dogma 2 Magick Archer, however, prefers to stay on the backline, conjuring spells using their bow.

Want to unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Mystic Spearhand vocation? There are four default vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2, but if you do a bit of searching, you can transform your Arisen into a completely different class. While the Mage and the Fighter individually sound fun, you can fuse both classes together to try out a Jedi Knight-inspired vocation.

One of the most intriguing Dragon's Dogma 2 characters is Sigurd, a Mystic Spearhand maister who wants to wipe out every dragon in existence. Sigurd blends magic with his deadly duospear to form the Mystic Spearhand vocation, and it can be yours once you know where to go on the Dragon's Dogma 2 map. Considering it's your goal as the Arisen to slay a dragon in Dragon's Dogma 2, this could be the perfect vocation for the job.

It's been nearly eight years since the launch of Civilization VI, which is the longest gap between mainline Civ entries the series has seen since the first game appeared way back in 1991. It's the perfect time for a new contender to rise and claim the historical 4X throne, and indeed, many have tried, and some have even come close. Soren Johnson and the gang at Mohawk Games struck gold in Old World by zeroing in on the ancient era and opening up the personal lives of rulers and generals as fields of play. Humankind let you fuse and blend cultures over the arc of time like a world-historic Doctor Moreau.

Millennia is perhaps the Civ-like that's clung most tightly to the genre's apron strings. It has a few new ideas that sound interesting on paper, but even as back-of-the-box features, they're clearly not meant to significantly disrupt the established order. This is a strategy game that very much wants to be like Civilization, and has a lot of enthusiasm for the subject matter. Unfortunately, it isn't a particularly good student.

Joel's been known to leave surprises, namely mechs before they officially launched a while back. And now he's seemingly granted a group of lucky players the chance to ride about in an armoured truck outfitted with guns. Maybe, just maybe this signals their imminent release?

If ever there were a game not to play on a Monday when you've had minimal sleep and basically want to crawl under the table and eat three-day-old pizza, that game - or rather, free "tech demo" - is Fractal Sailor. The work of Struct9 founder Matej Vanco, it hands you a distressingly unwieldy and roofless hovership and cuts you adrift in a vast ocean of malevolent mathematics.

At first glance, this shadow-hopping top-downer looks like a nostalgic stealth game designed to evoke the boxy subterranean environments of the first Metal Gear Solid. But really it is a tough single-player fighting game with stealth bits attached. It is closer in design to kung-fu brawler Sifu than it is to any of Solid Snake's various mischiefs. And while this mash-up of influences intrigues me, it can also feel like a layer cake of awkwardly clashing flavours. Like that very pretty but questionable cake, Raw Metal feels a little underbaked.

Graham wrote about WitchHand last month when the game came out. He compared it to Stacklands, and I can see where he was coming from. It's a cute, deckbuilding strategy game where you're a witch building up strength to take on some horrible void-y demon-y things. It has much higher stakes than Stacklands, but most importantly, you summon cat familiars in it, and they go 'meow!'

There's a teaser image on the wall. We stare at it and we think that's the whole multiplayer shooter set in the Control franchise. Then, Remedy sneak a second teaser image alongside some tantalising lore snippets into their latest investor report (Thanks, resetera!) Also there's an air fryer that turns nuggets into miniature black holes, or something. I'm not sure because, honestly, I never learned to appreciate Control's wonderful architecture and lore because the combat made me want to gnaw my fingers off. Good news, then, for everyone except me specifically. We've got a few more scraps of info about its (presumably) almost entirely combat focused spin-off title, currently known as 'Condor'.

"After the Hiss invasion, the Oldest House is under lockdown: a boiling pot of volatile and dangerous supernatural forces," forewarns the infographic. "Trapped within is the last vestige of the Federal Bureau of Control who will need to take a stand and push back to regain control." You can take shifts watching the full image in case it does anything untoward below.

On top of announcing the release date for Final Fantasy 14's next expansion, Dawntrail, at PAX East over the weekend, producer Yoshi-P set Final Fantasy tongues wagging even further by mentioning the words "Final Fantasy 9" and "secret" in the same sentence. Many of the pre-order and special edition bonus items players can get with the upcoming Dawntrail expansion are suspiciously FF9-themed, you see, but when pointing this out to PAX-goers, Yoshi-P said "the reason is a secret" for now, sparking fresh rumours about Square Enix's supposed Final Fantasy IX remake/remaster.

GTA 6 is facing development troubles, leaving leadership "nervous" that the hotly anticipated open world crime-athon could be "falling behind' expected schedules. That's according to Kotaku, who were told by an anonymous source that studio heads are "worried" that the game could miss 2025 completely and not see release until 2026. Kotaku were told that the studio is still "aiming" for a Spring 2025 release date, but sources feel Fall of the same year is more plausible. However, the title could be delayed until 2026 as a "fallback plan."

Monster Hunter bread packages by Oisis

Japanese food company Oisis has announced that it will produce and sell Monster Hunter-inspired bread products in the country's western regions. The items will be available for two full months from April 2024 to May 2024.

Individual bread packages with Monster Hunter brands will appear temporarily at select supermarkets and drugstores across the Kinki and Chugoku regions in western Honshu, as well as the Shikoku island. The collection will consist of a Zinogre Margherita, a Rathalos curry bun, and a Felyne steamed bun with cheese. People who purchase more than three items in the lineup can upload their receipts to enter sweepstakes that reward Monster Hunter-branded QUO prepaid cards.

Oisis will also produce more Monster Hunter-themed bread exclusively in its Mother Basket and Arome bakeries in Osaka and Hyogo prefectures. The lineup will feature a cheese pizza shaped after Zinogre's thunder, a carry bun modeled after Rathalos' fireball, and bread with Frankfurter sausage that resembles a Well-Done Steak. The company will also hand over a random coaster mat for free to the first 500 people who order the special food at each outlet.

This collaboration will mark multiple anniversaries for both companies. Oisis and Capcom will both conclude their respective 75th and 40th anniversary years in June 2024. Oisis also noted that the Monster Hunter series' 20th anniversary falls in 2024. In fact, this will not be the only food collaboration the game franchise is having on its major anniversary. The sushi restaurant chain Sushiro will also offer a special menu inspired by Monster Hunter from late March 2024 to April 2024.

Oisis' Monster Hunter bread products will be available in select stores in the western regions of Japan from April 1, 2024, to May 31, 2024.

Slay the Princess Free Update Adds More to Existing Routes

Ahead of the the Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut release, Black Tabby Games shared a free update to routes called The End of Everything. While it doesn't add new paths, existing routes, new music, and new animations appear. The game is also on sale on Steam for $14.39 until April 8, 2024.

As noted in the announcement, the goal of the update is the means of preparing for The Pristine Cut that will add new routes to the game. The End of Everything's goal is to expand on the endgame currently there. This means the existing routes and ends may be longer or be slightly different. The announcement noted there are over 3,000 words added to the visual novel in this update. There are also new animations for certain segments.

Here are the full patch notes for the Slay the Princess free update. Note that these do contain spoilers. In particular, the end game section goes over the changes and additions to the Slay the Princess routes.

End Game

  • The Shifting Mound encounter now has fully animated transitions between vessels.
  • Menus in The Shifting Mound encounter have been expanded and restructured — it should now be more clear which dialogue options are specific to a given vessel vs which options directly address the Shifting Mound.
  • Added several argumentative through-lines for the encounter; it is also now clear when a given response is a continuation of a previous option.
  • Edited several vessels' "poems" to have improved flow. Re-wrote The Eye of the Needle's "poem" entirely.
  • Significantly expanded the conversation in the basement at the start of the "Unknown Together" ending.
  • Added two new dialogue options in the Long Quiet scenes to challenge the unfinished mound's style of speech.

Music

  • "Transformation," "The Apotheosis," and "The Shifting Mound (Movements II, III, and V)" have been reworked to include live orchestral performances.
  • The entire soundtrack has been converted to FLAC and remastered for an overall improved audio experience.
  • The Supporter's Pack has been updated to include a new orchestral EP. In addition to the tracks mentioned above, this EP also includes live renditions of "The Princess" and "The Damsel"

Miscellaneous

  • The quick menu has been updated to have icons/a proper UI. It's also been moved to the top left of the screen, which should resolve the majority of issues players have had with the controller getting stuck.
  • The narrator's scream in the Tower route has been re-recorded to be a little more tonally fitting.
  • We should be caught up on bug fixes.
  • The Voice of the Broken no longer appears for a single line in the Razor route for playthroughs where he isn't present.
  • A small number of lines previously cut in the pacing patch have been restored.

Legacy Build

  • For archival purposes, we've moved the final updated version of the release build to a separate beta branch on Steam. We think the changes in this update (and the upcoming changes in the Pristine Cut) only make the game better, but in case you prefer that earlier version, or in case you're curious to see what older versions were like, it's now available to you.
  • You can access this beta branch with the password "originalrecipe"
  • To enter this password, right-click the game in your Steam library, select properties, and then navigate to "betas" in the sub-menu.

Slay the Princess is available on PCs.

Screenshot of Rise of the Ronin Graphics Mode

With plenty of customization options for weapons and gear in Rise of the Ronin, players can optimize their loadout. One technique for getting the most out of your weapons in Rise of the Ronin is the Bond Transfer.

Screenshot by Siliconera

How to use Bond Jewel in Rise of the Ronin - Bond Transfer explained

Bond Transfer is a strategic type of upgrade that allows players to transfer special effects from one weapon to another. This process is carried out at blacksmiths found within the game. Whether it's a weapon with good buffs or just enhancing one -with better base stats, Bond Transfer can keep an older weapon going longer.

The first step in executing a Bond Transfer is obtaining a Bond Jewel. These valuable items can be purchased from merchants, found in chests, or earned as completion rewards. Once you have the Bond Jewel, take it to any blacksmith. You should see the option for Bond Transfer right on the main menu.

You'll choose the weapon or gear that will receive the transferred special effects, known as the Destination Item. You'll then choose the Transfer Item, which has the effect you're looking to send over. You may select any normal abilities to send over, however you cannot transfer the golden set bonuses some weapons have. Keep this in mind as you plan out your upgrades.

Screenshot by Siliconera

Some notes, in addition to the Bond Jewel the process also costs some money and materials. The amount required in all three resources is dependent on the items involved in the Bond Transfer. Something else to be mindful of: the Source Item in every Bond Transfer will be destroyed at the end of the transaction.

While Bond Transfer may require multiple resources, the benefits are often worth the cost. Enhancing weapons with hand-chosen special effects tailors an arsenal to a preferred playstyle. Bond Transfer in Rise of the Ronin is just a further customization option for players. By leveraging this technique wisely with upgrades, you can keep a weapon you like going for a long time.

Rise of the Ronin is available exclusively on the PS5.

Best Paid Playdate Games root bear team root

Now that the Playdate has been around for a while, there are a ton of paid games in its official storefront and via itch.io to help build up a library of quick titles to play when you have some time. To help you sort through them and find something that suits you, here are some we'd recommend to get started with the system. Now, keep in mind there are tons of great titles, and we're just highlighting some of the best ones to keep in mind when you go shopping.

Best overall Playdate Game: Mars After Midnight

Mars After Midnight is a whimsical take on Papers, Please, as you're trying to help aliens with support groups. This means targeting the right areas, having the right refreshments, and letting the correct characters into the meeting. There's a good balance between simulation and silliness, it looks fantastic, and it's just a well-designed marvel that shows the system off perfectly.

Mars After Midnight is $6 on the handheld.

Best game played in short sessions: Root Bear

Root Bear is about pouring root beer for bears via turning the Playdate crank. You get a minute to fill as many glasses as perfectly as possible, with the customers tipping you for performance. Those tips determine your scores. Since you have to account for different glass shapes, foam, and fill requirements, it always feels fresh and fun to play for a few minutes.

Root Bear is $3 on the handheld.

Best action game on the Playdate: Pullfrog Playdate Deluxe

Pullfrog Playdate Deluxe is a combination action and puzzle game. You're trying to clear lines of blocks, a la Tetris. However, the way you move said blocks is by directing a little frog around and pulling them with their tongue. You also can hit fallen blocks to chip away at them to make them fit or fall. Plus, there's a roguelike element as you get additional power-ups or enhancements as you clear lines. It's great!

Pullfrog Playdate Deluxe is $8 on the handheld.

Best infuriating, but fun, game on the system: A Balanced Brew

A Balanced Brew makes me want to scream sometimes, and that's why I love it. You use the crank to help a person get a cup of coffee. Said person insists on using a unicycle on the most perilous and winding road ever. This means you need to balance, speed up, slow down, and handle situations where you ride a unicycle on a unicycle to get your latest cup. It's tricky, but so satisfying when you get it right.

A Balanced Brew is $8 on the handheld.

Best game to play every day on the Playdate: Bloom

If you enjoy casual games with daily life simulation elements, Bloom is probably the closest you will get on the Playdate. Run a flower shop, grow flowers, and exchange text messages with folks as you go through a casual life that encourages you to stop by each day as you progress.

Bloom is $10 on the handheld.

Best Simulation game on the handheld: Glagstone

Ready to manage an entire island? One that doesn't seem quite right? Glagstone tasks you with keeping up with a community and taking on quests as you attempt to manage resources and build up the island while also perhaps finding out what happened to the last manager.

Glagstone is $6 on the handheld.

Best shooter on the Playdate: Gun Trails

I had no idea a shoot'em up would not only look so good, but also work so well on the Playdate, but Yoyogi Games proved it is possible with Gun Trails. It's an amazing shmup with great graphics and modes for newcomers and veterans. There's even an online leaderboard.

Gun Trails is $6 on the handheld.

Best puzzle game on the Playdate: Generations

Generations is a match-3 game where it is very easy to mess up if you don't pay attention. You need to place portraits on the wall of a home and ensure ones of people from a similar age group are all next to each other. Doing so starts a chain in which they all come together and transform into one portrait of the next "generation." You keep doing this as much as possible until you start to clear the board. It's incredibly strategic, but also easy to play for 5, 10, 15, or even 20 minutes.

Generations is $6 on the handheld.

Best RPG on the Playdate: Under the Castle

I didn't expect an action-RPG sort of experience on the Playdate, but there are quite a few and Under the Castle is one of the best at making the most of the system. It's your goal to face the Evil Lord, heading through dungeons and gathering things you need to make saving the day seem possible.

Under the Castle is $10 on the handheld.

Deceptively Difficult: Jolly Chimp Champ

Jolly Chimp Champ is one of the most recent Playdate games, and I'd say it is one of the best at looking simple, but then being much harder than you'd expect. You use the crank to control conveyor belts and get a monkey toy from one point to another. However, there are also hazards like guns, bombs, and gaping holes, and precise timing and thoughtful cranking is the only way to get around each challenge.

Jolly Chimp Champ is $6 on the handheld.

Most Pokemon Like: Shining Gadget and Shadow Gadget

There's no true Pokemon type of game on the Playdate, but the next best thing is a creature-collector of sorts. Shining Gadget and Shadow Gadget, both collecting ghosts with the crank. There's no RPG element, but there's still that drive to fill your collection or maybe even use Spirit Swap to share with other Playdate players.

Each of these gamesis $13 on the handheld.

Stellar Blade Demo

The Stellar Blade demo now has an official release date. It will be appearing on the PlayStation Store from March 29, 2024.

The release date for the Stellar Blade demo was confirmed by Shift Up director Hyung Tae Kim in a post on the PlayStation Blog. The demo will feature a portion of the early game, featuring a tutorial and a single stage leading up to the first boss fight. This will allow players to get to grips with the game's combat system ahead of its release. The blog post also promises a "surprise" for any players who complete the demo.

The demo's languages have also been confirmed. As well as the game's native Korean, voiceover will be available in English, Brazilian Portuguese and most major European languages. Text can be displayed in an additional 13 languages including Arabic, Japanese, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Save data from the demo will carry over to the full game, allowing players to continue from their last checkpoint.

A Stellar Blade demo had previously appeared without announcement on the PlayStation Store. It was swiftly removed and even those who'd downloaded the demo had been locked out from playing it. The new release for the demo confirms this was released earlier than intended.

Stellar Blade will release for PS5 on April 26, 2024. The demo will be available from March 29, 2024.

Kirby 32nd birthday cake available at Kirby Cafe in 2024

Benelic revealed a new birthday cake to celebrate Kirby's 32nd Birthday in 2024. The cake will be available to order as dessert at Kirby Cafe Tokyo and Hakata for a limited time from April 2024 to early July 2024.

The cake will have the same base color as Kirby's, but it will be covered with chocolate cream on the top. The cafe staff will finish decorating the cake with fruits and Kirby's iconic star.

The company made the announcement via a tweet on the Kirby Cafe's official X account, which is also available to view right below:

https://twitter.com/KirbyCafeJP/status/1772096713697997218

Kirby Cafe has been regularly providing the character's birthday cakes on a temporary menu ever since its first permanent outlet opened at Tokyo Solamachi in late 2019. There is now an established pattern where the cafe is doing a rotation with three birthday cake designs. The upcoming 2024 cake will have the same design as the one released in 2021, while the previous design in 2023 was the same as the first-ever birthday cake made in 2020.

While Kirby Cafe lets people enjoy meals themed after the video game franchise all year long, other companies have also been producing merchandise based on the series. McDonald's Japan started offering Kirby Happy Meal toys in late February 2024. However, they were quickly sold out before the chain could complete its campaign in March 2024.

Kirby's 32nd birthday cake will be available to order at Kirby Cafe outlets at Tokyo Solamachi in Skytree Town and Canal City Hakata in Fukuoka from April 1, 2024, to July 2, 2024. Kirby's actual birthday will fall on April 27 every year.

Final Fantasy XIV FFXVI Event Begins Next Week

Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV players will get to take part in the FFXVI event on April 2, 2024. The Path Infernal will bring adult and baby versions of Torgal to FFXIV, as well as armor based on Clive Rosfield, until May 8, 2024.

If someone wants to take part in the FFXVI event, they need to get to level 50, first. They also need to have finished the main quest "The Ultimate Weapon." Since that was added in 2.0, odds are most players completed the base-game mission.

As long as you hit both of those criteria, you can meet a Neophyte Adventurer at Ul'dah Steps of Nald. That character will be at X: 8.8 and Y: 9.8. That will let you take the crossover quest "A Land on Fire."

A number of FFXVI themed items will be available to those who complete the quest. The Clive armor in FFXIV will consist of Metian Chausses for pants, a pair of Metian Gauntlets, Metian Sollerets shows, and a Metian Vest. This is a unisex set that can be worn by anyone or any class. It also can be dyed and projected. A Torgal Pup minion is available, and you can get a Torgal Whistle to summon the grown version as a mount to ride in FFXIV

Here is how the FFXIV Clive armor and Torgal mount and minion will look:

You can also get a Clive Rosfield Triple Triad card, as well as the following 10 Orchestrion Rolls.

  • "Away (Refrain)" Orchestrion Roll
  • "Before the Storm - Caer Norvent" Orchestrion Roll
  • "Find the Flame" Orchestrion Roll
  • "Forevermore - The Grand Duchy of Rosaria" Orchestrion Roll
  • "Idylls of the Empire" Orchestrion Roll
  • "Land of Eikons" Orchestrion Roll
  • "The State of the Realm" Orchestrion Roll
  • "To Sail Forbidden Seas" Orchestrion Roll
  • "Tonitrua ex Machina" Orchestrion Roll
  • "Who I Really Am" Orchestrion Roll

Even if you miss this event, don't worry. Crossovers often return to the MMORPG. For example, the FFXV one came back to FFXIV in February 2024.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, Final Fantasy XVI is available on the PS5 and eventually PC, and the FFXVI FFXIV event starts on April 2, 2024.

VShojo Vtuber Hime Hajime Got a New Outfit

VShojo Vtuber Hime Hajime promised a new model debut on March 24, 2024, and she shared a new look that has spy themes. She still has her typical wings and tail, which are animated, as an option. However, she now also has a spy-like look with her hair in a ponytail, tie, shirt, jacket, and skirt with a slit in it.

Her reveal of her new look began with her teasing meeting everyone in an empty parking garage. She then showed how she can make her model look as though it is wielding a gun and pointing it at the audience. She showed some of the design options. After that, a Pummel Party collab with Ironmouse, Henya, Zentreya, Haruka, Projekt Melody, and GEEGA began.

People can watch the archive of the new Hime Hajime model reveal on Twitch.

While Hime Hajime isn't one of the most active VShojo Vtubers, she does show up in quite a few collabs, has shared original covers, and can be active on Twitch. It has been a while since she officially released a song, however. Her last cover was of "Cutie Honey," the theme song for the anime of the same name. Her schedule on Twitch doesn't show any planned streams for the last week of March 2024 yet.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land soundtrack releasing in Japan

HAL Laboratory has opened pre-orders for physical soundtrack albums of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The development studio behind the game revealed the soundtracks right on its second anniversary day, as it appeared on Nintendo Switch on March 25, 2022.

The Kirby and the Forgotten Land soundtrack will be available in two versions. The Complete Soundtrack will include all of the game's BGMs and movie dialogues, as the title suggests. The package will have a 40-page booklet and four CDs containing a total of 115 tracks, and the last entry will be a Japanese version of the game's theme song "Welcome to the New World!"

The Complete Soundtrack will also have a photo frame that contains a music box playing a short version of the theme song. HAL Laboratory will also provide five swappable photo cards taken from the game. The large package will have an all-in price tag of 14,880 yen (~$98), which includes tax and shipping, but it will be only available until May 7, 2024, or when the company has reached its production limit, whichever comes first.

HAL Laboratory will also release a smaller Sound Selection album that will be more widely available. The company will only put 33 tracks into a single CD with a 6-page booklet. But unlike the above complete pack, it will continue to produce this album for the foreseeable future. This one will be available for 2,420 yen (~$16) with an extra domestic shipment cost of 700 yen if people place their pre-orders on the ValueMall site.

The Kirby and the Forgotten Land video game is readily available worldwide on Nintendo Switch. The title is alternatively known in Japan as Kirby of the Stars: Discovery. The game's soundtrack will be formally available in Japan on September 13, 2024, but HAL Laboratory will ship the albums one day earlier to those who have placed pre-orders by August 18, 2024.

FFXIV Dawntrail Early Access and FFIX Pre-order Bonus Explained

Square Enix announced that people can pre-order the FFXIV Dawntrail expansion at 9am PT/12pm ET on March 26, 2024, with early access and a FFIX bonus available to those who do. The other Final Fantasy IX references coming to Final Fantasy XIV will be in the Collector's Edition.

Both versions of the FFXIV Dawntrail expansion will be available to pre-order on March 25, 2024. The standard one will cost $39.99, and the collector's edition will be $214.99. The Square Enix Online Store will have both. In each case, you only get a digital copy of the expansion.

Buying either of these ahead of launch grants a player early access to FFXIV Dawntrail. If you do so on the PS4, PS5, or Xbox Series X, you don't need to register your code. However, people who buy a Windows or Mac version need to head to Mog Station to input your code to tie it to the account. Once done, someone can start playing the expansion at 2am PT/5am ET on June 28, 2024. That is four days ahead of its July 2, 2024 launch.

As for the FFXIV FFIX items, there are a few ways to get them. A pre-order for either version gets you the Wind-up Zidane Minion. He appears alongside the Azeyma's Earrings that is a reference to The Warden from The Twelve in the MMO. If you buy the collector's edition, you also get a Wind-up Garnet Minion and a Ark Mount of eidolon she uses in Final Fantasy IX. While the one image of it only showed its "ark" form, the video Square Enix released shows how it can transform into its robot form.

Here's a gallery of images Square Enix shared with us showing how the new minions and other bonuses will look:

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Dawntrail expansion will arrive on July 2, 2024.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Riftstone

Capcom shared plans for upcoming update for Dragon's Dogma 2, including making it easier to start a new game, get a house, and increasing the number of character editing items available. There is currently no set date for when the patch will launch, but Capcom plans to release the new features "as soon as they are ready."

The three most immediately impactful changes are listed as coming to all platforms. The first will allow players to start a new game from the main menu while they have an existing game already. Currently, starting a new game requires hunting down and manually deleting your save data. The second big change is that the quest leading to players buying a house will also be available "earlier in the game." The third is the addition of extra "Art of Metamorphosis" items to the Pawn Guild store. These items allow players to change their character or Pawn's appearance and was limited to 2 per game, with more available on starting New Game + or from the microtransaction store.

Additionally, motion blur and ray tracing options will be added to the menus of the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game, along with a few other optimizations for the Steam version.

You can find the full list of changes in the tweet below:

I am such a sucker for getting incredibly sidetracked in RPG games and ending up completely losing track of what I was supposed to be doing. Often, I end up stupidly overpowered and returning to the feeble early-game core missions as a glowing juggernaut. Dragon's Dogma 2 has been fantastic for this, and I have found tons of amazing hidden items you have to collect for your character. Hidden items and gear in Dragon's Dogma 2 These range from early-game starting loot to some hidden goldmines in the later game.      What Do The Hands Mean In Your Questlog In Dragon's Dogma 2 Featured ImageFor some strange reason, Dragon's Dogma 2 seems to either not tell you important information or reveal a mechanic later on after you've figured it out. One of them is those hand symbols that appear in your questlog. I was puzzled by this because the game doesn't explain it at the point where I'm at. If you're curious about what those hands mean in your questlog of Dragon's Dogma 2, you're not alone.  Dragon's Dogma 2: What do the hands mean in your questlog? In short, those hands reflect the Pawns in your party. Your Pawn will always be blue, whereas the ones you hired will be red. Knowing this is important because it can help you with many quests. Sometimes Pawns will tell you a treasure is out of reach that they may be able to obtain, other times, you can command the Pawn to guide you. That's because they have extra information that you need.  When you go into your questlog, you'll see the quests on the left with hands on the right. As mentioned, the ...
