Possibility Space has become the second studio owned by Prytania Media to close in recent weeks following Crop Circle Games' closure in March. Both studios were founded by Jeff Strain, the co-founder of Guild Wars creators ArenaNet and the founder of State Of Decay developers Undead Labs.

In a message to staff about the studio's immediate closure, Strain implies the outcome was prompted by employees who leaked information about the company to a journalist.

Renowned Japanese singer and Kingdom Hearts theme extraordinaire Hikaru Utada just dropped a mega bomb with their Science Fiction album. This album doesn't drop any new music, but rather, includes re-releases of songs like "Hikari," the Japanese version of the Kingdom Hearts theme "Simple and Clean." It also makes it even harder to wait for the release of Kingdom Hearts 4 and Missing Link in the process.

This new re-recording of the Japanese version of the classic Kingdom Hearts theme is a bop, of course, but there's more to it than that. This re-release of the 2002 track is a sharp reminder of the lack of information regarding the Kingdom Hearts series. More importantly, the severe delay between new details or a release of both Kingdom Hearts 4 and Missing Link.

For reference, Hikaru Utada's new album dropped on April 10, 2024. This just so happens to fall around the two-year anniversary of both Kingdom Hearts 4 and Missing Link's announcements. Sadly, precious little appeared in two years that followed. At least, worldwide, given there was a Japanese beta in 2023.

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link Closed Beta Test Applications Open
Image via Square Enix

This re-recording of the Kingdom Hearts song "Hikari" doesn't necessarily give us too much hope for more info soon, either. This is more like a coincidental event, if anything, which makes the whole situation more agonizing. That said, there is the potential for at least some Missing Link news in the near future. After all, it still has a release window of 2024 for Android and iOS. Until that release window changes, it is only a matter of time until we hear more about the latest mobile game in the series. There is a chance that Missing Link will even connect the past games to Kingdom Hearts 4 or offer some bit of lore to tie us over while we wait.

As for the lack of Kingdom Hearts 4 news, there could be a couple of reasons for that. For one, Square Enix has been quite busy lately. Final Fantasy XVI released last year in 2023, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth followed it up not even a full year later. Square Enix isn't done either, as FFXIV: Dawntrail is also coming out in 2024. This means renowned Kingdom Hearts Director Tetsuya Nomura, is also quite busy with the recent releases.

It is possible Square Enix is waiting for games and expansions like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail to come out to give some breathing room, then focus on the Kingdom Hearts series. If that is the case, we could finally see more about it in the latter half of 2024. But there is even a chance we may not hear anything until 2025.

As for when the game comes out, I would presume 2025 at the earliest. However, there is a chance it could even come out in 2026. I imagine we will know more once Missing Link begins its road to release. In the meantime, I will continue to listen to the new version of "Hikari" on repeat.

Kingdom Hearts 4 has no current release window or confirmed platforms. Missing Link is scheduled to release sometime in 2024 for Android and iOS.

anycolor qa job

Anycolor has opened up applications for a job as a Nijisanji QA checker for both Japanese and English talents. The job will pay 1,113 JPY ($7.30) per hour. [Thanks, Rima Evenstar!]

You can check out the job requirements from the application form, which is only in Japanese. Working hours are 10am to 9pm JST, and the company is looking for students in post-secondary education who will graduate after 2026. While this job's pay may seem quite low, 1,113 JPY per hour is the highest minimum wage in Tokyo as of October 2023.

As for what the job entails, you will be supporting Anycolor talents so that they can perform at their best, as well as checking their contents for quality assurance before they release it. This can include videos, illustrations, voices, goods, and such. You'll need to know basic IT literacy, as well as have knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. As well, you'll need to work in the Roppongi office, though there's a chance that it'll shift to a WFH situation.

For those who want to work as QA for the English branch, your English must be of conversational level or better. While not a requirement, having knowledge of Chinese and Korean would be a boon. Strangely, you do not need to have knowledge in Microsoft Suite if you want to work for the English branch.

This position is likely part of reformations that Tazumi promised in investor meetings for Anycolor. As a result of the controversies surrounding livers such as Selen Tatsuki, Anycolor CEO Tazumi promised more oversight, as well as stricter requirements for VTubers in the company. Part of the issues stemmed from a lack of English support for those who cannot communicate with the Japanese staff. This is probably why English proficiency is more valued than IT literacy for the English QA staff.

In order to apply for a job as a Nijisanji QA checker at Anycolor, you must be a current university student set to graduate after 2026 in Japan.

fate/grand order witch on the holy night

Lasengle announced an upcoming Mahoutsukai no Yoru (Witch on the Holy Night) collaboration event in Fate/Grand Order. It'll take place in late April 2024 on the Japanese server. [Thanks, KaroshiMyriad!]

You can check out the teaser trailer for the Witch on the Holy Night event in Fate/Grand Order here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ6KbVtzN5g

The trailer shows several scenes from Witch on the Holy Night, with Haruka Tomatsu as Aoko narrating. Since all three main characters appeared in the teaser trailer, they'll likely play a prominent role in the Fate/Grand Order event. However, it's unclear which one of them will appear as playable characters and if there will be a free one. More information on the event will come out closer to the actual release date.

Mahoutsukai no Yoru, or Witch on the Holy Night, came out in April 2012, though Nasu wrote the novel version of it in 1996. An enhanced version of the game came out in 2022 for the Nintendo Switch and the PS4. The story revolves around Aoko Aozaki, a sorcerer, who lives in a mansion with the rumored witch, Alice Kuonji. The two of them meet Sojuro Shizuki, a boy who discovers Aoko's secret magic abilities, and force him to stay with them so he doesn't spill their secrets.

Fate/Grand Order is readily available on mobile devices. The Witch on the Holy Night event will appear in Fate/Grand Order (the Japanese server) some time in late April 2024.

The best sandbox games such as Stardew Valley, Terraria, and Minecraft are among the most relaxing games about. But if you've ever had a situation where something just wouldn't quite place down where you wanted it, or you've spent an hour carefully putting together a new base layout piece by piece only to realize the whole thing is one block too large and everything is fundamentally out of alignment, you'd be forgiven for wanting to just throw the whole thing at the wall.      This incredible parkour FPS is a free game right now, so act fast

Ghostrunner is one of those mash-ups I can get behind. Fast-paced first-person shooting and combat akin to Titanfall with the movement mechanics of Mirror's Edge. fate/grand order witch on the holy night

The two of them meet Sojuro Shizuki, a boy who discovers Aoko's secret magic abilities, and force him to stay with them so he doesn't spill their secrets.

Fate/Grand Order is readily available on mobile devices. The Witch on the Holy Night event will appear in Fate/Grand Order (the Japanese server) some time in late April 2024.

aventurine peacock

The Dalian Forest Zoo in China announced that a group of Honkai: Star Rail fans adopted one of its peacocks and named it Aventurine. A plaque introducing the peacock, complete with a graphic of Aventurine from the game, is on the exhibit's fence. [Thanks, HiNastrond!]

According to the Weibo post, a group of Aventurine (Honkai: Star Rail) fans adopted the peacock for about a year. At the end of the post, the zoo states that it hopes everyone will watch Aventurine (the peacock) grow up safe and happy. The animal in question is a three-year-old common peacock or a blue peafowl. As for why the fans chose to adopt a peacock and name it Aventurine, it's due to the character having a lot of peacock imagery in his design.

Aventurine debuted in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0, though he made a voice-only cameo at the end of the Belobog Trailblaze Continuance when on the phone with Topaz. He is a member of the IPC's Ten Stonehearts and plays a major role in the Version 2.1 storyline. He will appear as a playable character in the latter phase of the update, and will be a 5-star Imaginary Preservation unit.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. If you want to check out the peacock version of Aventurine, you'll need to go to the Dalian Forest Zoo in China.

vincent age ffviir

Aitai Kuji owner Audrey Lamsam noted that in the FFVII Rebirth Ultimania book, Square Enix gives some information about the age of Vincent Valentine. While his real age is unknown and he looks like he's in his late 20s, his mannerisms and knowledge about new technology makes him seem like a much older person. [Thanks, Aitai Kuji owner Audrey Lamsam!]

While information about Vincent and his age, FFVII Rebirth Ultimania went into more details about how Square Enix chose to depict and characterize him. As segments from the book are not readily available online, there may be some missing additional information. However, according to Audrey, Vincent sleeps a lot in order to regain all the energy he uses when he transforms. Additionally, Vincent is terrible with technology. In a clip from the game, we can see him struggling to use a Shinra card reader until Cait Sith helps him. He's much better with older technology.

Here is Lamsam's tweet:

In terms of chronology, while Vincent looks quite young, he's in his late 50s. By the time the events of Dirge of Cerberus, which takes place after the main Final Fantasy VII game, happens, he's around 60 years old. As a result of Shinra's experiments on him, Vincent has retained his youthful appearance and gained inhuman powers.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is readily available on the PS5. The console exclusivity arrangement will end on May 29, 2024.

Nights With a Cat Manga Is Incredibly Accurate

It's always great to have a stable of slice of life manga series you can return to when you need a pick me up, and I can't help but feel like Nights with a Cat is an idea kind of candidate. Everything about this collection of brief vignettes is pleasant.

Rather than long chapters, each story in Nights with a Cat is only a few panels long and cover a brief moment in time between Kyuruga and the humans in the household. While Pi-chan is his owner and, as such, comes across as the more knowledgeable. For example, in volume 3 she is the one responsible for the vet visit. However, by this point in the series, her older brother Fuuta also seems like he's gotten comfortable with the situation. It's the the point where he's also helping with cat care, such as providing a scratching box.

All of the situations in volume 3 of the Nights with a Cat manga deal with the observation of regular cat mannerisms. For example, the first story has Fuuta watching as Kyuruga finds a place to get comfortable and sleep. In another, we see the cat react to an ordinary chore. They're funny and accurate depictions of the lengths a cat will go to in order to get "comfy" or how they'll misinterpret actions as playful.

What I also love is how Nights with a Cat goes on to show how humans shape themselves to work around or with a cat. We see how Fuuta, even when he's working, is aware of Kyuruga and making sure he does things to make the cat happier and more comfortable. Likewise, when the cat is at the vet, we see that by this point in the manga, Fuuta is so comfortable with his new normal that he is unconsciously thinking of and missing the animal.

Nights with a Cat is one of those incredibly lighthearted manga series that makes it easy to get cozy and relax with adorable characters and relatable situations. I just felt better after reading it at the end of a long day. Kyuruga engages in so many prime cat behaviors. Even if I never witnessed similar ones, I'd just smile and go, "Yup, Kyuryu Z sure actually lived with or spent a lot of time with a cat." It's one of those manga series I feel I'd keep coming back to, since it is such a fun, timeless read.

Nights with a Cat volume 3 is available now via Yen Press, and there is no release window for volume 4 of the manga yet.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has sold "about half" of what Final Fantasy 7 Remake managed in the same timeframe, and is currently "underperforming".

After shutting down the game's servers at the end of March, it seems that Ubisoft have now begun removing and/or revoking player's copies of The Crew, sparking outrage amongst fans and even discussions about the legality of what Ubisoft are doing.
