A new system requirements tier just popped up on Steam

We're no strangers to the delights of system requirements and the sometimes stressful nature of meeting a developer's demands. Well, for those on the other end of the hardware spectrum who want to know how many frames per second they will get from their Nvidia RTX 4090, Steam appears to be testing the waters for ultra system requirements.

You've never needed the best graphics card to simply get a game running, but in the world of PC gaming, we often want to know what hardware we need to get a game running at the very top settings, while still achieving a solid frame rate. This endless pursuit of performance is often ignored by game developers when they reveal system requirements, leaving gamers without an expectation of the hardware they'll need to enable the absolute best graphics settings at anywhere from 1080p to 4K.

Streamer and Vtuber rpr Going on Indefinite Hiatus

Kinotrope Gaming member and Vtuber rpr announced on social media that he will be taking an indefinite hiatus. No time window was offered for the break, but he did note that it will last until he is fully moved to Japan.

He announced he is full-time with Kinotrope back on January 19, 2024. At that same time, he announced he would move to Japan in April 2024. As such, we might not see his return until sometime after April 2024 or even May 2024.

Here are the full statements from rpr discussing the indefinite hiatus from streaming, which he posted on social media:

With that being said I think I will be taking a break from the internet until I am moved to Japan. I feel like recently I have been losing more of myself than I have been gaining from this whole thing, I think after 5 years it might be time for an indefinite hiatus.

It's time to seriously look up to my oshis and search for my own happiness.

Goodbye everyone, I wish nothing but the best for you beautiful people until the end, until we meet again…. I slumber.

To the people I have moded in my channel, I don't say it enough but thank you so much for being the amazing and beautiful human beings. I really have chosen the best of the best for my mod team, you all deserve the utmost respect you can get.

Even though I will be taking a break for a bit I do wanna say I am so excited to work in esports, it's been one of my childhood dreams, and one of the reasons I am taking this break is so I can head into this with perfect mental both for my esports job and my stream.

Prior to the announcement, he talked a bit about Hololive and the Super Expo 2024 and 5th Fes concerts. He specifically referenced how talented Tokoyami Towa, Hoshimachi Suisei, IRyS, and Nanashi Mumei are.

One of the last streams rpr appeared in as a Vtuber before taking a break was a Lethal Company one. He played alongside Dokibird, Uto, and dtto.

pokemon TCG the best temporal forces cards

The new Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion, Temporal Forces, has a lot of interesting cards to check out. But which are the best Temporal Forces cards? As always, it depends on what you're seeking, so we'll break it down category by category.

The coolest Temporal Forces cards

This answer is the easiest: Ancient and Future Pokemon. The Pokemon Company knew from the start of development that these would be the centerpiece cards of the set, and were unafraid to put some big, flashy moves on 'em. There are two different printings of Iron Valiant, with one focusing on precise attacks and the other trying to build up a big combo by stacking your draw pile. Iron Boulder ex's Repulsor Axe fires a warning shot of sorts, dealing 60 damage but adding another 80 if it takes a counterattack. Raging Bolt ex's Bellowing Thunder deals 70 per discarded attached energy on your team, guaranteeing the final blow against whoever you need.

The best move isn't flashy at all, though: Flutter Mane has an ability, Midnight Fluttering, that shuts down all other abilities when it's out front. We've seen this sort of thing work very well in other forms, and as a basic with an all-colorless attack option, this is cool even outside of a theme team.

pokemon TCG the best temporal forces cards

The most meta-relevant Temporal Forces cards

We're probably headed to a competitive scene in which each deck has an ACE SPEC card, and this initial batch gives you a few options to decide which fits your deck of Pokemon cards best. Awakening Drum, which draws cards for each Ancient you have in play, and Reboot Pod, which attaches energy from the discard to each Future, have a clear purpose. And… with the history of these card types, that purpose likely isn't in a high-level tournament deck. Same with Neo Upper Energy, which supports Stage 2 play.

That leaves four viable possibilities for every deck. Master Ball is the no-brainer option, searching for any Pokemon without Supporter restrictions. Prime Catcher lets you switch in whoever you like from both benches, and will likely be the winning play when you deploy it.

The two Tool options are more situational, but could save you from your opponent's risk calculations in a pinch. Hero's Cape adds 100 HP, and Maximum Belt lets you deal 50 extra damage to Pokemon ex. As soon as the game starts moving to whatever super-powerful dominant creature type replaces ex, it'll lose a lot of appeal, but for now? Might be worth it.

The most interesting Temporal Forces cards

We have our eyes on the new Relicanth. It's going to take a deep dive (ha!) into past sets' card libraries to find good targets, but the Memory Dive ability lets Pokemon use any attack its previous evolutions know. There are some moves that scale with damage taken, or just generally need more investment than users' low HP totals would buy time to manage. Memory Dive could make Relicanth a useful bench utility.

The Perilous Jungle Stadium card could also join a few decks. It increases poison damage by 20 each time, and we've seen similar effects work well in the past. This is meant to aid Darkness decks in the same way its counterpart, Full Metal Lab, does for Metal. The latter reduces damage to steel-types by 30, essentially reinstituting the ability they once had through energy effects.

pokemon TCG the best temporal forces cards

The cutest Temporal Forces cards

You know, we've gotta say: if you're here for cuteness, Temporal Forces may not be the set for you. After expansions like Paldean Fates, though, maybe your wallet could use a breather?

That said, hey, Yamper is here, looking just as Yamper as ever. This version of the Pokemon card doesn't have the best actual utility other than being quickly replaced by Boltund for its energy acceleration attack, but looking at it in the art, it doesn't seem to mind its role very much.

Other notable adorables: Marill and Azumarill enjoying their chill afternoons, Illustration Rare Litten sleeping on a bookshelf, and Deerling presented in a painterly style.

The newest Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion, Scarlet & Violet: Temporal Forces, launches March 22, 2024. For more Pokemon TCG coverage, including an overview of the set, check out our archive.

Genshin Impact Switch Website Was Temporarily Unavailable

Earlier on March 18, 2024, Japanese gaming outlet Famitsu reported that the official teaser website for the Nintendo Switch version of Genshin Impact was temporarily down. The website is now restored as of the time of writing, although it seems there are no changes made to the site. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

For instance, the release date for the Switch version of the game still appears as "to be determined." HoYoVerse has not released a statement on either the miHoYo nor Genshin Impact X (formerly Twitter) official social media accounts about the website being temporarily unavailable. Players looking forward to knowing more about the Switch version of the game will have to keep waiting for further news in the future.

HoYoVerse originally announced that the company was developing a Nintendo Switch version of Genshin Impact on January 14, 2020. However, there has been no further information nor footage about this version ever since it was initially revealed over four years ago.

Genshin Impact is readily available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with an unspecified release date. Version 4.5 went live on March 13, 2024 and introduced new playable character Chiori.

While the Stardew Valley 1.5 mobile update won't make it out before 2022 ends as planned, it will appear at the beginning of 2023. Characters Can Drink Mayonnaise in Stardew Valley 1.6

Eric "Concerned Ape" Barone announced that the 1.6 Stardew Valley patch will give people the ability to drink mayonnaise. The announcement didn't offer any further announcements on the affect this will have on the game.

Here's the official patch note line reveal regarding mayonnaise. It didn't note how much energy a player might get for drinking the condiment. Until now, most forms of it had been unable to be eaten, with Void Mayonnaise being the only exception. (It would sap away energy if ingested.)

https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/status/1769495186638581761

Ahead of this announcement, mayonnaise was already a popular and notorious item in Stardew Valley. This is because it is liked by almost all villagers in the game and doesn't take much effort to get, making it an ideal gift. All you need is a Mayonnaise Machine, which you can start making at Farming level 2 with a Copper Bar, Earth Crystal, 15 pieces of Stone, and 15 pieces of Wood, and an egg of any kind. The only people who will be upset about getting it folks like Sam, Sebastian, Caroline, and the kids Jas and Vincent.

Concerned Ape has been sharing multiple details about the update ahead of its debut. For example, we know old save files will still be safe. Also, after getting married, your new partner will not stay in bed all day due to not feeling up to activities for a week.

Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PCs, mobile devices, and the PlayStation Vita. The 1.6 update will launch for PCs on March 19, 2024.

One Piece Day 2024

The official One Piece social media account shared a new website detailing 2024's One Piece Day celebration, set to take place at the Makuhari Messe convention center between August 10-11, 2024, in Chiba, Japan. Previous events honoring the series took place in July and involved special film screenings, trivia competitions, announcements tied to the series, and merchandise previews.

While little information other than the date and location are available, the official One Piece social media account promised more details will arrive soon. Previously, the 2023 One Piece Day event featured a special screening of One Piece Film: Red, as well as several panels featuring voice actors from the anime. The event in 2022 involved its own set of events, including a match of the mobile game One Piece Bounty Rush played by special guests and a documentary going over One Piece figure production. These announcements tend to also be shared online when they are made at the event.

Earlier in March 2024, a new figure of the character Nami went up for pre-order, featuring her as a child running around her home village. Meanwhile, back in February 2024, new t-shirts and bags featuring Luffy's Gear 5 transformation became available via Cospa.

One Piece Day 2024 will take place from August 10-11, 2024, at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center in Chiba, Japan.

The MMORPG, which previously entered the open beta phase in February 2024, fully launches in March 2024.

For people who want to get started, there will be the Online Starter Edition, the Online Complete Edition (that includes every expansion so far), and the Online Complete Collector's Edition. If someone gets the Online Starter Edition, then they can later pick up the Endwalker or Endwalker Collector's Edition with the Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions.

Zenless Zone Zero Amplifying Beta Test Announced

People will once again get to try Zenless Zone Zero ahead of the game's release, as the Amplifying Test closed beta is on the way. There's no exact date for it yet, beyond "coming soon," but there is a new trailer to hype it up and people can register for it.

First, here's the new Zenless Zone Zero trailer. It focuses on both the bunny-like Bangboo mascots and playable characters. After seeing how different design Bangboo look alongside different factions, we get to see how characters and the mascots work in battles. Aside from showing some gameplay, the video didn't introduce anything new about the next beta test.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__45HTgembM&ab_channel=ZenlessZoneZero

As for the Zenless Zone Zero Amplifying Test, people can sign up for the beta at the official site. After logging in to your HoYoVerse account, the site will confirm your contact details and will ask someone to select their platform. The only ones available for this latest test are Android devices, iOS devices, and PCs. The PS5 version isn't available. A survey will then ask for your game account information, your IP address, your device model, and details about your level of gaming experience and background. People will be selected based on that data.

The last closed beta was the Equalizing Test. That ended in December 2023. HoYoVerse shared constant updates while it happened.

Zenless Zone Zero is expected to come to the PS5, PC, and mobile devices in 2024. The Amplifying Test is "coming soon."

mutsumi inomata died

Mutsumi Inomata, known for her work on the Tales series, died. It happened on March 10, 2024.

Her younger sister made a post on Twitter (X) to announce this news. According to her, it was a very sudden death. She left behind several unfinished drafts that she had been working on, and her sister noted that she hopes that she is still drawing and working on them in Heaven. She added that Inomata is probably surrounded by cats and creating more characters with strong eyes. The funeral was for close family only, and Inomata had requested that no one send any flowers or gifts or messages to her family. Her sister closed out the message by thanking everyone for all of the support they showed Inomata over the years and hoping that people will still enjoy her artwork.

Mutsumi Inomata was an animator and character designer for several anime series, but people might be most familiar with her work for the Tales series. She has designed for games such as Tales of Destiny, Tales of Rebirth, and Tales of Graces. When it comes to her work in animation, she worked on the animation for Urusei Yatsura and City Hunter. She also worked on My-HiME and the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED franchise, helping with the characters' clothing designs.

Inomata is not the only high-profile (for those who like Japanese media) death this month. Earlier in March 2024, Akira Toriyama (most famous for creating Dragon Ball) died. A day after Toriyama, Tarako, a voice actress famous for her work as Maruko in Chibi Maruko-chan, died as well. Like Inomata, Tarako's death was also very sudden, with no discernible or disclosed cause.

Mutsumi Inomata died on March 10, 2024. Her funeral was a private affair. Inomata was 63 at the age of death.
