PCGamesN Sunday, July 17, 2022 1:13 PM A Team Fortress 2 charity drive is being held in July by community site TF2Maps in aid of charity Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières). The event is scheduled to run for 72 hours from July 22 - 25, and encourages anyone in the FPS game's community to join in and create TF2-related things in aid of the humanitarian organisation. The rules are simple - all you have to do to participate is to "make something for or about Team Fortress 2." It can be something in-game or a real-world project, as long as it is related to Valve's free-to-play game. Some examples given are maps, models, or mods that could be used in TF2, as well as "warpaints, animations, videos, paintings, drawings, fan fiction, woodwork, stonework, legwork, homework, and everything else in-between." TF2Maps asks that anyone participating ensures that they do not work on the project outside of the prescribed hours of July 22 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 5pm GMT to July 25 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 5pm GMT. The team emphasises that planning in advance is allowed, but that you must not start creating your submission until the event is live. You may also use custom content from other people in your creation, as per TF2's usual rules, as long as they are appropriately credited. PCGamesN Sunday, July 17, 2022 12:57 PM A possible Fortnite Transformers crossover event may roll out soon if rumours on the internet are to be believed - and the battle royale game's developer Epic Games is possibly hinting at it too, stretching back to the Collision event that concluded Chapter 3 Season 2. The speculation regarding a new Fortnite Transformers collaboration kicked off with Epic's Fortnite Status account tweeting "it's Prime time" for the new update, along with the conspicuous capitalisation of 'prime'. While this is more likely referring to the return of Twitch Prime drops, players have noticed further hints towards Transformers. As leakers such as Shiina noted, Hasbro has a good relationship with Epic - they've done a GI Joe collab in the past - and is currently celebrating the 15th anniversary of the first Michael Bay movie. Furthermore, the Transformers-like truck man sculpture from Fortnite Chapter 1 seems to be making a comeback. According to Fortnite leaker InTheShade, a new mech-like vehicle is being worked on too - which even has its own emotes. RELATED LINKS: Fortnite V-Bucks, Fortnite Skins, Fortnite Creative Codes |
PCGamesN Sunday, July 17, 2022 12:18 PM If you're ever visiting the Academy of Raya Lucaria, keep an eye out for a particularly helpful Elden Ring roleplayer by the name of Lift Mechanic. This industrious player has taken it upon themselves to ensure that people making their way through the open-world game's magical halls don't fall foul of any mechanical failures. A video shared by Reddit user Ayen_C shows Lift Mechanic's full routine in practice. Summoned in just before the lift up into the academy's main entrance, Lift Mechanic joins the other players in jogging towards the elevator shaft before turning and throwing their arms out, as though telling the others to hold back. They then proceed to throw some rainbow stones down to warn of their impending works, call in the lift, and get down to business. Inspecting each of the chains in turn, they crouch down to get a better look with their torch and pull out a telescope to peer more closely for any signs of wear and tear. PCGamesN Sunday, July 17, 2022 11:27 AM When Quake remastered came out in 2021, it was celebrated for including the Nintendo 64 port for free. However, the FPS game's first console port was for Sega Saturn, boasting new levels and a different graphics engine. Now, fans are trying to bring the Quake Sega Saturn port to PC in all its quirky glory. Quake was ported to Sega Saturn by Powerslave developer Lobotomy Software in 1997 and had to be reconstructed in the less advanced Powerslave engine, giving the port a unique look and even sprite-based weapons closer to Doom. It also featured four original levels that have never been ported elsewhere. Now, fans are bringing Sega Saturn Quake to PC as a proper source port using FTEQW. PCGamesN spoke to the project's lead @JaycieErysdren, who explained that she's been working on it since September 2021 with "huge progress" made recently. All the level data can now be "successfully ported from every level in the game" using Blender and the FTEQW source port, with the game's iconic enemies on their way. PCGamesN Sunday, July 17, 2022 10:27 AM Stray developer Blue Twelve Studios just revealed the real-life stray cat that inspired its feline protagonist, and now the cyberpunk game's publisher Annapurna Interactive is partnering with several cat charities to help out real stray cats around the world. The current most-wishlisted game on Steam has paired up with the Nebraska Humane Society and Cats Protection, the UK's largest cat welfare charity, to offer a chance to win a copy of the adventure game to people who donate to the cat-centric organisations. Every $5 donation to the Nebraska Humane Society will grant you one entry into a giveaway draw to win one of four codes for the adventure game. The winners will be announced on July 19 when the game releases. The shelter shared the giveaway on Twitter, saying, "At NHS we see thousands of stray cats every year… but we've never met one like this." |
PCGamesN Sunday, July 17, 2022 10:07 AM The first proper Starfield gameplay trailer released in June at the Xbox Showcase and fans have pored over the footage since then, looking for any clues about Bethesda's RPG game. Now, fans have spotted a Starfield Easter egg that specifically seems to honour the first man and woman in space. Multiple hidden Starfield Easter eggs have already been discovered by fans in the gameplay footage, such as a possible hint towards the release date, a sinister Dead Space-like secret, and even the infamous sandwich. People have even noticed references to real-life astronauts, such as some of the planet names. However, fans on Reddit seem to have noticed a more direct appearance of two particularly famous astronauts at around 6:39 in the gameplay trailer. Behind the person in the foreground of the picture above, there are two portraits. These seem to be famous photos of two astronauts - Yuri Gagarin, who became the first man in space in 1961, and Valentina Tereshkova, who became the first woman in space in 1963. PCGamesN Sunday, July 17, 2022 9:44 AM A press release from the UK government's Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) calls for videogame companies to increase protections to stop children being able to buy loot boxes in their games. The statement also says that the government "will not hesitate to consider legislation if companies do not bring in sufficient measures to keep players safe." In July 2020, the UK's House of Lords said that loot boxes should be classified as gambling, and a report from the universities of Plymouth and Wolverhampton in April 2021 called loot boxes "structurally and psychologically akin to gambling." A call for evidence launched by the DCMS in 2020 found that "players who have purchased loot boxes may be more likely to experience gambling, mental health, financial, and problem gaming-related harms." In addition, the report stated that these risks may be greater for children and young people, leading to the UK government's latest call to make the purchase of loot boxes "unavailable to children and young people unless they are approved by a parent or guardian." Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries says that the government wants to "stop children going on spending sprees online without parental consent." PCGamesN Sunday, July 17, 2022 8:15 AM July 17, 2022: Moistcr1tikal has raised the Halo 2 LASO bounty from USD $5,000 to $20,000, and even offered tips on how to beat it. Major YouTuber and streamer Charlie 'Cr1tikal' White is offering a bounty to anyone who can beat Halo 2 Anniversary - and has just raised it from $5,000 to a massive $20,000 USD. This is a bit of a tougher challenge for FPS game fans than just beating it, too - it's a Halo 2 no death run, on Legendary difficulty, with nearly all skull modifiers turned on. Which is nearly impossible. For most of the space game's history, developers have hidden secret skulls around the campaign, right up to Halo Infinite. These skulls contain modifiers that usually make the game a lot tougher - such as no visible HUD or weapons, not regaining shields unless you punch an enemy, and making the Covenant a lot deadlier. Consequently, a Halo LASO run - Legendary difficulty with all skulls on - is the hardest challenge a Halo player can face. And doing that without dying? Near impossible. Streamer Cr1TiKaL - a.k.a. penguinz0 or Charlie White - challenged the community to do just that in Halo 2 Anniversary by offering a massive cash bounty to anyone who can go through LASO and not die. Siliconera Sunday, July 17, 2022 10:00 AM Takumi Kitamura has been cast as Yusuke Urameshi, the protagonist of the upcoming live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho. Kitamura previously portrayed protagonist Takemichi Hanagaki in the live-action movie of Tokyo Revengers, which was the highest grossing Japanese film in 2021. There has been no information as of yet in regards to the other members of the main four. [Thanks, ANN!] [gallery columns="1" ids="932273" link="file"] Comic Natalie has provided a cast interview with Kitamura in regards to his casting as Yusuke in Yu Yu Hakusho. He states that he thought it was a joke and laughed when he found out he got the role. He also notes that Yu Yu Hakusho is a historical work that serves as the root of Japanese pop culture. In regards to the character, Kitamura hints that this adaptation of Yusuke may be darker than the original depiction in the manga. Netflix first announced the series at the end of December 2020. This came after several other live-action adaptations of classic Japanese anime series, such as Death Note and Cowboy Bebop. Kazutaka Sakamoto (who is also a Netflix content acquisition director) is the show's executive producer. Akira Morii of Wild 7 is producing Yu Yu Hakusho as a member of Robot Communications. Yoshihiro Togashi, who later wrote Hunter x Hunter, worked on Yu Yu Hakusho from 1990 to 1994. The anime series ran from 1992 to 1995. It follows the story of juvenile delinquent Yusuke Urameshi, who dies after he "uncharacteristically" dies after pushing a child out of oncoming traffic. He makes a deal with the Spirit World and comes back to life on the condition that he works for them as a "spirit detective." The Netflix adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho will air worldwide in December 2023. The post Here is Yusuke in the Netflix Live-Action Yu Yu Hakusho Series appeared first on Siliconera. |
