FFXIV Third Party Tools

In a forum post by FFXIV Producer Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P, Square Enix could be looking to take legal action against a specific third-party plugin. While the community was previously aware of Final Fantasy XIV's backend having some security vulnerabilities, this specific plugin has brought it to light.

The plugin itself allows for players to view another player's FFXIV internal account ID, which has raised some questions concerning security in Square Enix's highly acclaimed MMORPG. In the statement itself, Yoshi-P noted that Square Enix is considering several options. This includes the tool being removed, making it unavailable to download, and deleted. The other involves Square Enix pursuing legal action against the creator of this FFXIV third-party plugin.

Yoshi-P reaffirms in the statement that the ability to access internal account IDs are simply not possible within Final Fantasy XIV itself. Additionally, things such as payment information and personal information cannot be exposed using the aforementioned third-party tool. Ultimately, Yoshi-P discourages the use of third-party tools entirely, which go against the code of conduct for the game itself. As use of third-party tools can possibly result in an account-wide ban.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Protagonists Marriage Explained

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Director Shiro Maekawa talked to Famitsu about the new spin-off title in the fantasy farming series and explained how the marriage system works between the two playable protagonists. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

In past titles in the Rune Factory series, the player is usually given the choice to play as either a male or female protagonist. However, in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, the protagonists of both genders will appear throughout the course of the game and story, and the game allows the player to marry the other protagonist as well.

When asked about the reasons for adopting the protagonists marriage system for Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, Director Maekawa said that there are two. The first one is that the Wii and PS3 spin-off Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny introduced this system, but it was never used in any other game. Maekawa felt not using it was a great waste and wanted to include it for this game.

The second reason is due to player feedback. When they introduced the choice for a male or female protagonists, many players felt like really liked these characters and designs and wanted to be able to marry them. Maekawa also felt similar to these designs and characters, so he took these comments as another reason to include this system.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will come out on May 30, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC via Steam. You can read more about the marriage candidates in the game here.

In honor of the Lunar New Year, the latest Palworld patch included a selection of free themed Pal skins for everyone.

Ahead of the Lunar New Year on January 29, 2025, Pocketpair announced there are five free Palworld Pal skins to claim as part of the Spring Festival. These were added alongside other updates in the January 23, 2025 patch.

As is typical of these free Palworld skins, you can only use them if you own the Pal they are tied to. However, you don't need to do anything special to earn them. They are available to everyone after the update. Just go ahead and go to equip it when you have access to one of them, and you're set.

Here's the list of all the free Palworld Pal skins for the Spring Festival event celebrating the Lunar New Year.

  • Fortune-Bringer Lyleen
  • Fortune-Bringer Lyleen Noct
  • Lion-Dancer Chillet
  • Lion-Dancer Chillet Ignis
  • Lucky Cattiva

Some of these Pals already got free skins in Palworld before. For example, Summer Chillet was a part of a 2024 Twitch Drops event. The company released a Halloween Cattiva look in October 2024.

Here are all of the other patch notes from the January 23, 2025 update:

▼Specification Adjustments
・Pals will now target the nearest enemy after being summoned
・Changed the behaviour of large Pals at bases to be the same as small Pals. This allows them to pass through narrow passages and they will be less likely to collide with ceilings and such
・Added earth element to Mammorest and Mammorest Cryst
・Added water element and the work suitability "watering" to Killamari

▼Balance Adjustments
・Reduced the amount of power required by the large electric egg incubator and significantly increased the amount of power stored in the battery
・Expanded the range of the target area near the reticle when targeting the same enemy
・Fixed a bug where the stamina of some Pals was different between normal Pals and Alpha Pals
・Adjusted the rewards from large oil rig treasure chest and removed the uncommon plasma cannon blueprint
・Extended the distance at which the Advanced Bow damage begins to drop off by 1.5
・Reduced the amount of plasteel required when crafting weapons and armor
・Increased the production speed of crude oil from the crude oil extractor
・Increased the rate at which crude oil extraction speed increases at the Pal Labor Research Laboratory
・Increased the durability of weapons and armor that can be created with some blueprints (durability of already created equipment will remain unchanged, so it will appear that the durability has decreased at first)

▼Bug Fixes
・Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when a Pal with four negative passive skills was put through surgery by Dr. Brawn
・Fixed a bug that caused the NEW display in the building UI to not disappear when starting a new save data
・Fixed an issue that caused the treasure chest in the Oil Rig to not respawn
・Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the workbench effect to remain
・Fixed a bug that caused the PS5 players to be able to join Xbox games. This feature is currently under development and was released unintentionally
・Fixed an issue where some terrain was disappearing

Palworld is in early access on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC worldwide.

If there is one thing that the Mobile Suit Gundam is not short of, it is video game adaptations. There are some truly brilliant games out there like the recent Gundam Breaker 4. That said, there is one genre of games that is far too overlooked, and that is turn-based JRPGs. Gundam seriously needs another turn-based JRPG like MS Saga: A New Dawn.

One of the retro games I've recently visited for the first time was MS Saga: A New Dawn. This fascinating PS2 entry in the Gundam series features its own unique world, characters, and lore. It acts as a turn-based JRPG of the time period, much in the style of classic Final Fantasy games like FFX and the like but with a neat Gundam twist.

MS Saga: A New Dawn Gundam JRPG
Screenshot by Siliconera

There is a party of characters you collect throughout the world, which is based on the real planet Earth after some destructive events. You can have up to three party members in battle at once, which is surprisingly complex. You have your normal physical attacks with laser axes and swords, plus ranged attacks with guns.

These attacks work differently in battle. For instance, if an enemy isn't resting, they are able to counter any physical attack you do. On the other hand, ranged attacks don't have to worry about counters but generally deal less damage. On top of this, there are special attacks you can use after you gain certain attack points each turn.

There is a lot of challenge in this turn-based game. While it does require a ton of grinding, I enjoy exploring the world and, above all else, customizing my mech. There are so many different mechs available from the more generic Zakus to the special crossover Gundam from the various anime series.

Overall, MS Saga: A New Dawn has impressed me. Outside of the awkward difficulty curve, occasional pacing problems, and intense grinding requirements, this is already one of my favorite PS2 games. It is certainly also my favorite Gundam game of all time. The turn-based nature of JRPGs translate so well to the story-driven and highly customizable nature of the Gundam series.

Screenshot by Siliconera

This is why it is so imperative we see a return to this style in the future. Sure, a remaster of MS Saga: A New Dawn would be nice and solve part of the issue. However, it has some quirks fans may not love like the aforementioned issues. That is why it is better to see a brand new turn-based JRPG that is also set in its own standalone universe.

This new Gundam JRPG could benefit from the graphics used in modern games like Gundam Breaker 4. At the same time, it could learn from how fast and smooth turn-based JRPGs should be today. Finally, it just needs to have a worthy story with some great characters and this is instantly up there for one of the best anime games of all time.

It is a shame MS Saga: A New Dawn is currently only on the PS2 with no remaster or port in sight. It is, to me, the best Gundam game to date. While we don't need it to come back, it is necessary for a new Gundam turn-based JRPG to happen. If so, it could go down as easily the best MS Saga: A New Dawn game and one of the strongest anime-to-video game adaptations of all time.

MS Saga: A New Dawn is only available for PlayStation 2.

Unicorn Overlord lighter by Zippo

Kadokawa has revealed a new lineup of Unicorn Overlord-themed merchandise available for pre-orders exclusively on its ebten web store. A peculiar item is included in the list, which is a Zippo lighter designed after kingdom emblems from Atlus and Vanillaware's Unicorn Overlord game. This lighter will be available in late April 2025 at 12,980 yen (~$83.45).

The lighter will be made of hard stainless steel and brass manufactured directly from Zippo's headquarters in the US. However, the uniquely branded lighter will have a distinction with engravements of the Cornia Kingdom's emblems.

One of the wide sides will have the original Cornia Kingdom emblem, while the other will instead feature the New Cornia Kingdom version. Atlus and Sega's copyright marks will complete the lighter's decoration on the side.

The Unicorn Overlord-themed Zippo lighter will be available in late April 2025. The original video game is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Atlus noted that it had sold over 1 million units of the game as of September 2024.

Assassin's Creed Shadows system requirements show ray tracing is here to stay

What are the Assassin's Creed Shadows system requirements?  Thanks to Ubisoft, we now know that you won't need a huge PC upgrade to enjoy roaming around Feudal Japan in this latest Assassin's Creed game, unless you're planning to max out your graphics settings with extended ray tracing.

With the Assassin's Creed Shadows release date getting closer, you don't need to panic buy the best graphics card out there to make the most of your time with Yasuke and Naoe in Feudal Japan. These Assassin's Creed Shadows system requirements show a healthy balance between old and new hardware. However, ray tracing isn't optional, even on the lowest graphics settings, and you'll need an RTX 4090 or better to manage full RT at 4K.

Four years after launch, Amplitude strategy game Humankind deserves another shot

Too many worthy games get lost in the noise. It's understandable. We've all got big backlogs that we're trying to work through, and new releases arrive practically every hour. But it means a lot of solid or experimental titles fall by the wayside. Humankind is a good example. Originally released back in 2021, some less-than-fanatical early user reviews meant it was quickly overshadowed by strategy genre giants like the immovable Civilization 6 and Paradox's Stellaris. But as Amplitude confirms Endless Legend 2 is on the way, Humankind is well worth another look, especially right now. After a transformative update, it's now temporarily completely free to play, and then available at a huge discount.

Here's the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT pre-order date, according to this retailer

It looks as though AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT pre-orders could start later than initial reports suggested. A new leak from a US retailer points to a late March date for this new AMD graphics card to become available for pre-orders.

AMD has already confirmed that the Radeon RX 9070 XT release date will be in March, but hasn't provided a specific day for the launch yet. While this new Radeon GPU isn't expected to be the best graphics card out there when it launches, it's still expected to serve as a strong competitor against mid-tier Nvidia RTX 50-series cards such as the RTX 5070, with hopefully a competitive price tag to match.

Nvidia removes GPU hot spot temperature from RTX 5090, says it

A previously unannounced change to new Nvidia graphics cards such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 might make it harder to keep an eye on unusual GPU temperature spikes. With the new RTX 50-series GPUs, gamers can seemingly no longer check GPU hot spot temperatures, with Nvidia suggesting the data "isn't relevant" for gamers anyway.

With less temperature data available, gamers with the best graphics card could now find it harder to spot overheating on the GPU die. Nvidia suggests that the change shouldn't be much of a problem for gamers overall, but removing the data will make it harder to track these issues.

Deus Ex may be the greatest PC game of all time, and now you can own it for free

If I had to pick the five greatest and most PC influential games, at least during that transformative decade between 1990 and the end of 2000, then I think Fallout would make the list, probably Civilization, and maybe Doom. There are a lot of contenders for the fourth spot. Command and Conquer comes to mind. So do Half-Life, Counter-Strike, The Sims, and StarCraft. But the ultimate crown goes to Deus Ex. Visionary, original, and the perfect intermediary between player and developer, they should give out Deus Ex to everyone who owns a PC. It's required reading. We're not quite there yet - but if you're signed up to Prime Gaming, or want to give it a try, Deus Ex is free to keep.

My Gigabyte gaming mouse caught fire, claims gamer

I've seen plenty of burned-out PC components in my time, from power supplies to monitors, but I've never seen a burned-out gaming mouse before. However, a report on social media has left us all scratching our heads after a user complained that their Gigabyte M6880X wired gaming mouse caught fire as they slept, and nearly burned down the house.

If the facts behind this story are true, then it would certainly be a shocker. This particular Gigabyte device isn't the best gaming mouse out there, but that doesn't really matter in this instance. It would (or rather, should) be extremely unusual for any mouse to catch fire, especially given the limited electrical current that they typically draw and the fact that this isn't a wireless mouse, meaning there's no battery either.

Monster Hunter Wilds Light Bowgun - moveset and how to use

How do you use the Monster Hunter Wilds Light Bowgun? The Light Bowgun is one of the best beginner friendly weapons in the game, and though it comes with a few tweaks and changes from previous iterations of the weapon, it largely plays the same.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Light Bowgun is, as you guessed it, a lighter version of the Heavy Bowgun, and unlike the normal MHW Bow, you'll need to craft elemental ammo to use it, though normal, piercing, and spread ammo are unlimited. It's a much nimbler alternative to the Heavy Bowgun and has a few moves that allow you to move around while shooting and quickly dodge out of the way, but keep the pressure on enemies. Here's why it's one of the best Monster Hunter Wilds weapons.

This new Cyberpunk 2077 update is essential if you own an Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU

Cyberpunk 2077 is already one of the best-looking games available, despite its advancing age, but the neon-lit game's latest update makes it look even better, thanks to its new support for DLSS 4. The new Cyberpunk 2.21 patch is being rolled out right now, ready for the new RTX 5000 launch, but you can actually enable the new upscaling tech on any Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU, including the 2000 series.

I had the chance to test a pre-build of Cyberpunk 2077 with DLSS 4 support before the launch, ready for my Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 review, and I was really impressed with the results. You will need an RTX 5000 graphics card to run Multi Frame Gen, which provides a massive boost to frame rates, but the new DLSS Super Resolution tech will work on any Nvidia RTX card, and it makes a big difference to image quality compared to previous versions of DLSS.

A performance and settings guide for a ropey PC port of a Final Fantasy game? Sweet, I haven't done one of these in four whole months. In fairness to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which Nic says can be great as a game per se, it does make some effort at settling into Windows. It has rebindable M+K controls. It has DLSS. It has generally more consistent framerates than FFXVI, which could bait you in with silky visuals before grabbing your head and shoving it into the cold ice bath of sub-30fps.

Yet it also steps back from that game on its supported tech, while raising its hardware requirements so far above Final Fantasy 7 Remake that it won't even launch on a lot of older graphics cards. Even so, hitching and microstuttering issues from FF7 Remake return once more, along with plenty of other signs that this PC version didn't get the love that a lot of other erstwhile PlayStation exclusives – like Horizon Forbidden West or God of War Ragnarök – did for their ports.

The Zippo lighter is not the only new Unicorn Overlord merchandise Kadokawa has announced. The company also revealed a B2-sized hanging tapestry poster at 3,850 yen (~$24.75) and an acrylic panel at 2,750 yen (~$17.70) with four different designs. Just like the lighter, these items are also available exclusively on ebten, but Kadokawa will ship them earlier in mid-March 2025.

The Unicorn Overlord-themed Zippo lighter will be available in late April 2025. The original video game is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Atlus noted that it had sold over 1 million units of the game as of September 2024.

2 Trails Through Daybreak 2 Demos Debut

NIS America announced there are now two demos for The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 on the PlayStation Store for the PS4 and PS5. One is a Story Demo with data that can carry over to the full game, while the other is a Battle Demo that only focuses on exploring a dungeon.

A new trailer highlighted what to expect from the two Trails through Daybreak 2 demos on the PS4 and PS5. The video began by showing off the Story Demo. That kicks off at the 20 second mark, and it looks at what happens in the earliest hours of the game. This means we'll experience a mix of the campaign and some early fights. It also teased time with minigames like fishing.

At the one minute mark, the trailer shifted over to focus on the Battle Demo. That takes us into Marchen Garten. We'll have access to additional characters and more challenging fights there. One option it it involves the Swin and Nadia team going through Coral Archipelago, while the other sends Agnes and Renne into Submerged Terrace.

NetEase stated it will address English localization issues with the Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent mobile game.

NetEase shared an update on social media regarding Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent that addressed the issues players shared about the state of its English localization of the mobile game. Specifically, it is about problems people reported once the 3.0 Solistia version launched on January 16, 2025, and how it now reads in English.

In the statement, NetEase stated it heard feedback from those playing Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent in English. It apologized. It also claimed it will fix those problems and stated that part of that initiative will involve "making the language more natural and native." It also ended the announcement by calling for additional feedback in reporting translation issues and other bugs.

This English localization issue comes after a handover of the Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent mobile game from Square Enix to NetEase. That was announced in November 2024, then happened on January 16, 2025. When that change happened, 60 FPS support was also added. Note that after this transition, people also needed to use the data transfer feature to keep playing. Support for that ends on April 25, 2025.

The Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is available on Android and Apple iOS devices worldwide.

Bandai Spirits revealed the final boxart for its upcoming High Grade Gunpla model kit of the ZGMF-MM07 Z'Gok from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom. The new boxart is inspired by an official poll that the same company held in 2024.

The poll ran started on July 29, 2024, and it was live until August 25, 2024. Bandai Spirits picked six still images featuring the Z'Gok from the anime movie as candidates, but it ultimately let the public choose their preferred image. The poll ended with 54,866 votes counted. The Gundam SEED Freedom Gunpla boxart illustrator Naochika Morishita would then produce a boxart design based on the winning image.

Here is a comparison between the original anime still that became the poll's winner and the resulting Gunpla boxart:

A more elaborate reveal trailer of the boxart is also available via Bandai Hobby Site's official X account:

Gundam SEED Freedom originally appeared in theaters, but it has since been made available online via Netflix and Prime Video in select countries and territories worldwide. Following its successful launch, Sunrise is newly working on a prequel titled Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero.

The 1/144 High Grade Gunpla model kit of the ZGMF-MM07 Z'Gok from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom will be available on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

The other new Zenless Zone Zero character joining in the next update is the Obol Squad Agent named Trigger.

Yet another new 1.6 Zenless Zone Zero character appeared, and Trigger is part of a faction that hasn't had a new character join it since the game's launch. She will be a part of Obol Squad when the update arrives.

As a reminder, there's only one other named Obol Squad Agent in Zenless Zone Zero, and that's Soldier 11. In fact, the initial announcement included a statement about Trigger from her. It hinted that this is a mysterious individual who doesn't talk about herself, but is quite capable. The other statements also hinted that she plays the harmonica and enjoys red bean buns. She was referenced during the "Mole in the Hole" quest that appeared in the game at launch as well.

The announcement images for Trigger also hinted at what we can expect from her as a unit. She's a Stun specialty character, which means she's designed to be used to daze and stun an opponent so an Attack type like Soldier 11 could do more damage. Her attacks also deal Electric damage. We don't know if she'll be an A or S-rank Agent yet, however.

Here are all three initial images showing her off:

There's also a YouTube Short highlighting the character:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Pe1rKKzWBfg

This means we'll see three new Agents appearing as playable characters in Zenless Zone Zero 1.6. After the 1.5 update, HoYoVerse shared two who will appear. One is Silver Soldier Anby, a new version of the Cunning Hares member, while the other is Sons of Calydon member Pulchra Fellini.

Zenless Zone Zero is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and Trigger will be a new character in 1.6.

FFXIV Letter From the Producer Live 85 Falls in February 7.2 part 1

It's been quite some time since Square Enix held a FFXIV Letter from the Producer Live presentation, given the last one appeared in November 2024, but now LXXXV (85) will air at 3am PT/6am ET on February 7, 2025. As usual, this should feature Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida and Global Community Producer Toshio "Foxclon" Murouchi talking about what's next for the MMORPG.

Don't expect news about a new expansion at this one. Rather, it's going to focus on additional updates to the Dawntrail series of patches. Square Enix confirmed it is all about 7.2. Specifically, it will focus on the first part of that patch. However, other updates related to the MMORPG, perhaps about merchandise events, could come up as well.

We don't know how long this presentation will be. It will be on Niconico, Twitch, and YouTube as usual. The YouTube placeholder is actually live, and you can see it below. Note that when the presentation airs, there will be no translator. It will be entirely in Japanese, though all slides shown during the presentation and going over 7.2 part 1 will feature English text.

Here's the YouTube placeholder.

Final Fantasy XIV and its Dawntrail expansion are available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The FFXIV Letter from the Producer Live 85 will air at 3am PT/6am ET on February 7, 2025

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black has PS5 physical release

PlayAsia announced that it is working with Koei Tecmo to release PS5 physical copies of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. The physical version of the new Ninja Gaiden 2 remaster will be available on March 27, 2025, and it will cost $49.99 before shipping.

As a reminder, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja announced the stealth launch of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black at the January 2025 Xbox Developer Direct. Unlike the PS3 release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 included in the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, this new title is a completely reworked remaster made with Unreal Engine 5. However, it still includes most of the new content added in Sigma 2, such as the appearances of Ayane, Momiji, and Rachel as additional playable characters.

The new remaster is immediately available on not only Xbox and PC platforms but also PlayStation 5. However, Team Ninja's official site for the game—including the Japanese version—noted that Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is "only available digitally."

Despite coming from Asia, the PS5 physical release will be a universal language build. It will have complete language support with voiceovers in Japanese and English, as well as additional subtitles in French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified).

The new Unreal Engine 5-based remaster title Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is readily available digitally worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Playasia will release the PS5 physical copies of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black on March 27, 2025.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch Epic Edition Appears in Europe

European branches of Nintendo's stores started taking Switch pre-orders for a Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Epic Bundle. It costs £57.99 / €69.99 (~$73), depending on where you order it. There is also a promotional keyring included with purchases. So far, it hasn't shown up in other regions like North America yet.

Essentially, buying this collector's edition bundle gets you a physical copy of the Switch version of Xenoblade Chronicles X, as well as two guaranteed bonus items. One is a set of five holographic stickers featuring Skells from the game. The other is a desk mat that features Skell schematics on it. As a reminder, the Skells are the mechs we use to get around the game's open world.

As for the bonus item, it is a double-sided keychain. You see a Skell on one side, and on the other is a BLADE logo. This is 4cm long and is made of metal.

Here's how everything looks. Note that while the keychain can come with the collector's edition, people who buy a standard physical copy from the official Nintendo stores in Europe can also get one while supplies last.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will come to the Nintendo Switch worldwide on March 20, 2025, and the Epic Edition is confirmed for Europe. The original game appeared on the Wii U.

5.4 Genshin Impact Release Date Falls in February character characters banner

HoYoVerse shared the 5.4 Genshin Impact release date alongside news about the update, which will also feature a banner with a new character named Yumemizuki Mizuki and the return of the festival events in Inazuma. We'll see everything appear on February 12, 2025.

Rather than this being a big update focused on a new story, 5.4 is more about the Genshin Impact Inazuma festival and new events. This time, it is the Mikawa Flower Festival. We've heard it come up in past updates during this time of year. Mizuki will be a part, as will Raiden Shogun and other characters from the region. Multiple minigames will be playable there, like Akitsu Harpastum, Bunshin Phantasm, and A Little Fox's Daydream. It will also be how you earn the Tamayuratei no Ohanashi polearm.

As for the character banners in Genshin Impact 5.4, Mizuki is the only new one. All of the others are returning characters. Mizuki is a five-star Anemo healer who uses a catalyst to attack. Her dedicated banner will be available at launch alongside a Sigewinne rerun banner. However, after that she'll be on the Standard Wish and constantly in the five-star character pool. Meanwhile, halfway through the new version, banners with Furina and Wriothesley will show up. If you

The King of Fighters KOF Mai Shiranui figures by Amakuni

Amakuni revealed that it will produce and release a new batch of its The King of Fighters XIV Mai Shiranui figures in 2025. The company will also newly produce a purple 2P color variant, which it did not make when it initially released the figure in 2018.

The original figure with red attire will have no differences from the initial release in 2018. The 1/6 scale static figure will still stand at around 27 cm (~10.63 inches) tall. However, Amakuni will pack the figure with a new box design.

In addition, there is a difference in the price tag between the initial and newer releases. The original figure in 2018 costed 17,500 yen, but both the newer regular and 2P color releases in 2025 will have the same higher price tag of 22,000 yen (~$140.80).

Amakuni primarily puts its figures up for pre-orders on the Hobby Japan Online Shop. However, this website can only accept and ship orders domestically in Japan. People residing elsewhere worldwide outside of Japan and China can alternatively order both the regular and new 2P color variants of the figure on AmiAmi.

The new batch of the 1/6 scale The King of Fighters XIV Mai Shiranui figures by Amakuni will be available between August and September 2025. Amakuni will close the pre-order window for both the regular and 2P color versions on March 6, 2025.
