Welcome to the Week in Review
Welcome
You’d think that after a busy CES at the start of January, things might quieten down for the technology world. But in a “hold my beer” moment Samsung held its first Galaxy Unpacked of 2025, which proved to be a bigger showcase than we were expecting.

The reveals we did expect were the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra, all of which arrived with only iterative design tweaks over their predecessors, but which under the hood have a nice bump in power and a host of new and improved AI features; the most notable, like Now Brief, are designed to provide an ‘agentic’ AI experience, learning about you and your lifestyle in order to serve up tailored information and prompts.

But there was more to see than the Galaxy S25 lineup. We got a quick glimpse at a product roadmap that clearly had a tri-fold folding phone in it, and, in an Apple-esque ‘one more thing’ moment, Samsung showed off the Galaxy S25 Edge, a super-slim take on its new flagship phones; sadly, we weren’t allowed any hands-on time with it.

Outside of the mobile world, our review of the mighty Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 went live – and our Components Editor John Loffler was impressed. It’s set to go on sale on January 30, so be sure to check back with TechRadar for updates on the retailers to get the graphics card from, and the best deals.

Speaking of graphics leads me nicely onto Rob Dwiar’s early look at Assassin's Creed Shadows, which looks set to be an absolutely beautiful, and feature-filled, next entry in the epic stealth series.

That’s quite the week… and next week will be equally busy, as we’ll be delving deeper into all things Galaxy S25, and you can expect additional Nvidia insights, further Nintendo Switch 2 musings, and more.

Right, I’m off to lose myself in episode two of Severance season 2 – check out the Entertainment section below for our pick of the movies and shows you should be watching this weekend.
