Genshin Impact new characters in the 3.1 update and beyond

Want to know about new Genshin Impact characters? During each new update, there's usually at least one Genshin Impact banner with a minimum of one brand new character. The banners feature characters with increased drop rates, including one five-star character and three four-star characters. Since Genshin Impact 2.0, it's not uncommon to see four different banners per update, giving players a chance to wish for returning characters.

Cyno, Candace, and Nilou will arrive in the 3.1 update but there are also leaks and datamined information concerning new faces that may appear further down the line. While none of this information is official until Hoyoverse says otherwise, here's a round-up of all of the current rumours and speculation.

Genshin Impact maintenance time and rewards

Want to know about the Genshin Impact maintenance schedule? Before every major Genshin Impact update, Hoyoverse takes the popular anime game down for maintenance, which tends to last a few hours while the team applies all of the new content.

While the Genshin Impact maintenance is ongoing, players will be unable to login to the RPG game. After it's finished, everyone will then need to download a large game update before they can play again. These major patches can bring everything from new Genshin Impact bannersGenshin Impact events, and even completely new regions, such as Inazuma or Sumeru. As long as everything goes to plan, the Genshin Impact maintenance period happens at the same time for everyone across the globe. We'll keep this guide updated with the latest information on any planned maintenance, as well as when we expect the game servers to come back online.

Genshin Impact events – all current and upcoming events

Want to know more about the upcoming Genshin Impact events? A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events.

There are usually a number of Genshin Impact events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies.

Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community.

     Best VR headset in 2022

The best VR headset could take your gaming PC setup to the next level, especially if you're looking to play games like Half-Life: Alyx, Beat Saber, and Resident Evil 4. Sure, today's virtual reality tech is more Lawnmower Man than Ready Player One, but concepts like the metaverse and augmented reality (AR) are all seemingly a part of what's to come.

Choosing the best VR headset seems simple on the surface, but there are industry changes in motion that could complicate venturing into virtual reality. For starters, Meta (formerly known as Facebook) has ditched its iconic Oculus branding in favour of a new Meta Quest label. While this means the Oculus Quest 3 will likely arrive with a different moniker, metaverse devices like the upcoming Project Cambria are also now the social media giant's priority.

Of course, Meta isn't the only player within the VR space, as HTC and Valve are also in the running. Each headset contributes to immersive gaming in its own way, so it's important to consider the specs, price, and drawbacks of each device. To help you get on your virtual feet, we've tested a bunch of PC VR headsets in an attempt to make the murky waters of the metaverse a little clearer.

Tower of Fantasy tier list September 2022

Before we get started with this Tower of Fantasy tier list, it's important to clarify how the roster works exactly. Otherwise known as simulacra, Tower of Fantasy characters are largely cosmetic skins in this anime game. While it's possible to imbue these avatars with minor buffs via the awakening system, most of their skills and abilities are tied to the weapon they wield. Team composition in Tower of Fantasy is closer to a weapons loadout, and the best characters are actually the best Tower of Fantasy weapons.

However, for the purposes of this Tower of Fantasy tier list, we'll primarily be referring to the weapons you pull by the name of the simulacra that comes with them. This tier list also takes into account weapon advancements, which is what happens when you collect a duplicate of an SR or SSR simulacra. Some characters require weapon advancements to fully unlock their potential, while others don't. Without further ado, here is our Tower of Fantasy tier list.

SMT Imagine Fan Server

Atlus has filed a lawsuit against two groups connected with fan-run servers operating the officially-closed online RPG Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine (or SMT Imagine). The lawsuit alleges that the groups violated copyright law in "resurrecting" the game without permission, as well as deriving a profit off of the operation of the SMT Imagine fan server. [Thanks, @MarshSMT!]

Altus Co. originally filed the lawsuit in December 2021. The company then requested a summons to each of the two groups, going by the handles Rekuiemu and COMP_hack. These two were the website owners in August and September 2022. The complaint alleges that the owners violated US copyright law by creating and operating an "exact copy" of the original SMT Imagine website, distributing the game for free, and operating a private game server without permission.

Among the listed infringements, Atlus notes that the website for Rekuiemu: Imagine (the private server) "added copyright information" that falsely attributed the website to Rekuiemu. Specifically, the website listed "Copyright (C) REKUIEMU" along with the names of Atlus, Sega, and developer Cave. As such, Atlus alleges that the Imagine fan server "has caused and will continue to cause irreparable damage" to the company. Furthermore, Atlus is requesting the owners shut down the server, website, and GitHub, as well as provide monetary relief for damages. For its part, the group COMP_hack is accused of facilitating the creation of the private SMT Imagine fan server, as well as of profiting off the alleged copyright violation. The suit lists the accused as "John Doe", meaning that the real identities of the individuals or groups targeted in the suit are unknown or hidden.

Another SMT Imagine fan server, ReImagine, was not named in the suit, though its website has been taken down at the time of this writing.

[gallery link="file" ids="936305,936304,936303"]

Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine, also known as Megami Tensei Online: Imagine, was an MMORPG that released in 2007 in Japan. Two years later, the game released in the US. The game featured a real time combat system, while also combining the series' iconic demon recruitment system. While the game had a significant following in Japan, the game's US servers closed down in 2014, with Japan following soon after in 2016.

The SMT Imagine fan server started in December 2020, and was a wholly unmodified version of the original game. Registering for the game required no money, and both the website and launcher largely operated in the same way as the now-defunct official site and launcher.

toshimichi mori

Toshimichi Mori, the creator of BlazBue, has left Arc System Works. He announced his departure on Twitter, and has not indicated what he will do or where he will go next. He also did not mention if there was a particular reason he left ArcSys. He thanks the fans and the ArcSys staff for around twenty years of support.

Mori became involved with ArcSys after helping to develop Guilty Gear X. He considers his years at ArcSys to be the treasures of his life. As well, he acknowledges that BlazBlue players may feel anxious about the fact that he is leaving, but he apologizes for that. Mori still hopes to deliver games in some way in the future, and hopes for everyone's support. The wording implies that if Mori makes another game, it may not be in a traditional format.

If Guilty Gear is Daisuke Ishiwatari's baby, then Blazblue is Toshimichi Mori's. The first game, Calamity Trigger, initially came out in arcades in 2008. The final mainline entry in the series was BlazBlue: Centralfiction, which first debuted in 2015. Updated versions have come out since then. Unlike Guilty Gear, BlazBlue never moved beyond the traditional 2D fighter format with hand-drawn pixel sprites.

BlazBlue: Centralfiction is available on the PS3, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. One of the spinoff titles, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, is available on the PS4, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch. It will come out on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X in Spring 2023.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 rollback

Arc System Works had a surprise for Guilty Gear fans over the weekend at the 2022 CEOtaku fighting game event. It announced that rollback will come to the PC edition of Guilty Gear Xrd REV2, and by extension, Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-. Tests of the netcode are also planned for October 2022.

Check out the announcement trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTnAGIZRtB4

Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 is the updated edition of Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-Revelator was released in 2015 and '16, and was the direct sequel to 2014's Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-. In its announcement, Arc System Works mentioned that Xrd REV2 is still very popular, justifying the decision to add it to the PC edition. It did not mention whether it planned to update the PS4 edition of the game, though.

Rollback netcode is a strategy for facilitating communication between two players over the internet. Fighting games are particularly sensitive to network conditions and need to ensure that players can "sync up". Otherwise, the game experience is affected, and fights over the internet will feel "laggy", especially when players are separated by large distances. Recently fighting game developers have embraced implementing rollback to ensure that their titles feel better to play online. Even older games like Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and now Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 received rollback. Newer titles, like Guilty Gear Strive, have had it implemented from launch.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 is available on PS4, and on PC via Steam. A public test for the rollback implementation is scheduled for sometime in October 2022. More details will be announced via the official Twitter account.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Pc Su10 Sc (29) (copy)After several months of tweaking and testing, Asobo has released Sim Update 10 for Microsoft Flight Simulator to the public. It's arguably the most anticipated update of the sim's life — and the most delayed. Sim Update 10 was supposed to grace our presence all the way back in July, but Asobo opted to hold it off until it was sure it was ready for prime time. I didn't participate in the beta test, instead opting to wait for the full release. Now, after several hours of testing on my mid-range Acer Nitro V laptop, I'm happy to report that it really does what it says on the tin.      Guilty Gear REV 2 rollbackThis weekend was CEOtaku, the yearly fighting game convention in Orlando, FL hosted by Alex Jebailey. Unlike the main CEO event in Daytona Beach, FL, CEOtaku is focused on the anime fighting game community. It's where games like Guilty Gear Strive, Melty Blood, DNF Duel, and even the new JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R take center stage. And it's also where Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 fans got some good news about rollback on PC. CEOtaku is also a stop on the ARCREVO World Tour, with invites to the finals going to the champions of Guilty Gear Strive and DNF Duel. So hype for the event was pretty high before it even started. To add to the excitement, the head of CEO, Alex Jebailey, had a special announcement for the crowd before the top-8 for Guilty Gear Strive began.   One of the most requested updates by the Guilty Gear community has now officially been acknowledged by Arc System Works. Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, the game that preceded Strive, is get...

Unsurprisingly, the RTX 4090, 4080 16GB, and 4080 12GB Founder's Edition models received the limelight during the event. It's of no surprise that Nvidia's AIB (add-in board) partners followed closely behind with reveals of custom RTX 40 Series models featuring massive cooler designs, overclocked performance, and blinged out looks. You'll be able to get an RTX 40 Series graphics card partner model from most of the usual manufacturers. The list includes ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, PNY, Zotac, Colorful, Inno3D, Palit, Galax, Yeston, and Gainward to name the major players. You'll notice EVGA is absent from the list, and that's because it announced an exit from the graphics card market just last week.   All announced RTX 40 Series graphics card partner models The available designs from pretty much all of the partners look really sleek this time around. Gone are those cheap plastic d...
