PCGamesN Saturday, July 30, 2022 1:11 PM Terraria 1.4.4 is extremely close to being finished, according to a new developer blog about the Labor of Love update for the crafting game which also details major improvements to the functionality of the Void Bag storage item. The Void Bag, which is an extension of players' personal storage, is getting some very handy tweaks to make it more convenient to use. The Terraria State of the Game blog for July, by Loki from developer Re-Logic, opens by stating that "Labor of Love has reached a point where we feel like the end of development is extremely close." They say that the list of bugs and tasks are being whittled down and that, while they can't yet provide an actual release date, "it is starting to come into focus." The main focus of the blog, however, is the new Void Bag update coming as part of 1.4.4. The Void Bag acts as an extension to a player's personal storage, functioning like a chest that you can carry around with you and store items in as you wish. Unlike other personal storage options such as the Money Trough, the Void Bag also has the ability to automatically store any items collected while your main inventory is full. PCGamesN Saturday, July 30, 2022 12:14 PM Ex-CD Projekt developers who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have formed a new studio and are working on an online game with Unreal Engine 5 - and it sounds like a lot like Destiny 2 or Warframe as a ninja game in feudal Japan. The new studio, Dark Passenger, was co-founded by Jakub Ben and Marcin Michalski - who previously worked on The Witcher 3 and its expansions on the game's art team, lending assistance on the cinematic side of Cyberpunk 2077. Their new indie studio is made up of "game dev veterans and fresh blood specialists" and is currently in production on a new online game set in Japan. Dark Passenger describes the game as a first-person stealth-focused online multiplayer game with co-op, PvP, and PvE elements - a lot like Destiny 2 - built in Unreal Engine 5. "Our goal," the developer states, "is to create highly exciting online experiences that are focused both on cooperation and rivalry." Players take control of a ninja assassin and join up with other players to take on other clans and search for mysterious objects of "extraordinary power." PCGamesN Saturday, July 30, 2022 11:34 AM A new Call of Duty Warzone dog skin included in season 4 of the battle royale game is the subject of controversy as an artist accuses Activision of plagiarising a design they created two years prior. The 'Loyal Samoyed' skin, introduced as part of the 'Floof Fury' tracer pack, replaces the head of operator Kim Tae Young with that of the giant, fluffy pup breed. Concept artist Sail Lin claims that the skin, which also sports a black and white patterned scarf and blue camo clothing, closely resembles a design called 'Samoye Medical' that they uploaded to Artstation in December 2019. They posted comparison shots on their Twitter account, along with a statement about the situation. "I am the original artist that the upcoming CoD Vanguard Samoyed skin was plagiarised from," writes Sail Lin, "Even though I am a CoD player, I am very disappointed to see my work being plagiarised by a big company like Activision in this way." They say that they have reached out to Activision to seek "an explanation and/or compensation." RELATED LINKS: Warzone loadouts, Best AR in Warzone , The best guns in Warzone |

PCGamesN Saturday, July 30, 2022 10:19 AM New regulations see multiple large gaming services including Steam blocked in Indonesia after the companies failed to meet a deadline to comply with changes to registration requirements in the Southeast Asian country. Other game industry services affected include the likes of Epic Games, CS: GO, Origin, and Dota 2, along with the likes of PayPal and Yahoo. The blocks are not permanent, but are set to remain in place until the companies agree to comply with the newly implemented regulations. As reported by Niko Partners, new regulations put in place by Kominfo, the Indonesian ministry of communication and information technology, required companies operating in Indonesia to register with Kominfo by July 29 or face "a formal warning, a monetary fine, and access termination." Now that the deadline has passed, it appears that multiple major IPs in the country have implemented blocks to those companies which have not met the requirements. Among the names listed as registered on the Kominfo site are Google, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Apple, Netflix, Discord, and Riot Games. It was initially reported that both Microsoft Bing and Blizzard's Battle.net were not registered, but it appears that both companies have been added to the list as of July 29, and some users in the country have reported that the services are still working for them. Siliconera Saturday, July 30, 2022 11:00 AM July 29, 2022 was National Lipstick Day in the United States, but that didn't didn't stop Square Enix from sharing some trivia on the official Final Fantasy VII Remake account. The topic of the day was Shinra executive and known wearer of lipstick, Scarlet. The official account shared some concept art of Scarlet from FFVII Remake. As head of Shinra's Weapons Development division, Scarlet was in FFVII Remake in a minor role. She took center stage, though, when the Intergrade update rolled around. She was the main antagonist of the Yuffie-centered "Episode INTERmission" storyline. She used her resources to confront Yuffie and Sonon, and their clashes expanded players' perspective on the conflict between Shinra and Wutai. Check out the art pieces in the gallery below. [gallery link="file" columns="4" ids="932916,932917,932918,932919"] The FFVII Remake Scarlet Lipstick Day post included concept art of the character and an in-game capture. It also showed off concepts for the Crimson Mare, Scarlet's personal battle armor. According to the tweet, the Crimson Mare's cockpit is custom-decorated, and includes special holders for Scarlet's lipstick and cosmetics. These weren't seen in-game, though. The Crimson Mare forms the core of a boss fight with Scarlet in FFVII Remake Episode INTERmission. In the original Final Fantasy VII release, Scarlet only saw combat late in the game. She and fellow Shinra executive Heidegger pilot the Proud Clod, a Shinra battle robot, to fight the party. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is available on PS5 and PC. The base Remake game is available on PS4. The post FFVII Remake Scarlet Art Shared for Lipstick Day appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Saturday, July 30, 2022 9:00 AM Due to how little people are using the function, Sony will discontinue the PlayStation 5's accolades system in the near future. It is unknown when exactly it will disappear, though it will be some time in Fall 2022. While you will not be able to send accolades to other players, Sony still hopes that people create a positive gaming environment and community. The news comes courtesy of a notice on PlayStation Japan's support site announcing the change [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]. Accolades are a function unique to the PlayStation 5. You mostly send them to players you had a positive multiplayer experience with. There are three accolades you can send – Helpful, Welcoming, and Good Sport – to define what it was about the player you liked. You can also look at your accolades to see what other players liked about you in your matches. However, Sony has noted that there are less players using the service than it expected. Because of that, it will discontinue the system. You will no longer be able to send accolades, and it is likely that you will lose all of the accolades you accumulated. Sony did not elaborate on why it thought PS5 users were not using accolades, but not all PS5 games with multiplayer functionality support the feature, or surface it regularly. Accolades are currently supported by first-party titles like Ghost of Tsushima's Legends mode, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Destruction AllStars. Select third-party titles like Black Ops Cold War and Rainbow Six Siege support PS5 accolades, too. Sony shipped out over 19.3 million units of the PS5 as of May 2022. However, Sony has reported that this number is below its sales target for the console. There are still difficulties in shipments due to issues with the supply chain, as well as shortages. In the same month, sales of the Xbox exceeded those of the PS5 for the first time in Japan. The accolades function on the PS5 will no longer be available in Fall 2022. The PS5 is available worldwide.
