| | Oct 01, 09:32 VG247 Latest Articles Feed | | | All the remaining details about Season 6 in Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War have been revealed, and it looks like it'll be one of the biggest so far. Season 6 begins Thursday, October 7 in both games, and you can expect files to be made available for download earlier in the week as usual. As for what you can expect, there's a host of new content across Warzone, multiplayer and Zombies. Beginning with Warzone, the Verdansk 84 map has seen a few changes. Thanks to fissures that broke out underneath the surface, several areas of the map have been ravaged. The stadium, most notably, had large parts of it destroyed. Read more |
| | Oct 01, 08:13 VG247 Latest Articles Feed | | | Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Life is Strange, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, and Life is Strange: Wavelengths. Both on paper and in practice, Life is Strange: Wavelengths is a direct prequel to September's Life is Strange: True Colors from Deck Nine Games. But beyond that, it's the real conclusion to the Arcadia Bay Rachel/Chloe storyline that Deck Nine first explored in Life is Strange: Before the Storm. This DLC is pitched as "Steph's story," and that's exactly what it is, but because of the position Steph occupies in past LiS installments, it ends up being the so-called "true end" to that plotline. Steph is first introduced in Before the Storm, where she and her friend Mikey end up persuading Chloe to join in their legally-distinct-from-D&D tabletop campaign. Because of this, both end up with a front row seat to Chloe and Rachel Amber's relationship, and the tragedy that befalls them both. Read more |

| | Oct 01, 09:15 Nintendo Life | Latest Updates | | | And we've been doing the maths... As you can imagine, we play an awful lot of games here at Nintendo Life – you should see some of the team's total playtime on games like Splatoon 2 and Zelda: Breath of the Wild – but even we can't come close to the total time put in by this fan. If you head to your profile page from the Switch's main menu, you'll be greeted with a list of the games you've played recently and the total number of hours you've put in. You'll likely see numbers in the tens, or possibly the hundreds for your favourite titles, but Reddit user daveboy2000 claims to have reached the Switch's maximum play time counter limit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. | | Oct 01, 09:39 PCGamesN | | | The hugely popular military MMO, World of Tanks, is now offering new players a bumper sign-up bonus. In addition to a beefy tank to start you off strong, and 600 gold to spend in game as you wish, this offer also gives players unlimited access to a premium account for seven days - all for the grand price of absolutely nothing. With a worldwide userbase of over 160 million players, you'll pretty much always have an opponent ready and waiting whenever you want to play. Just sign up to one of the best tank games using this link and you'll gain access to all the goodies mentioned above. Starting a new MMO can be daunting (especially one that's been around as long as WoT), but that's part of what makes this deal so great: the M22 Locust is a tier 3 premium tank which would normally cost 900 gold. By signing up now and claiming your bonus, you'll gain some early leverage against the more seasoned players who have been playing for years. If you're playing from a CIS country, you'll instead receive the T-127, another equally cool tier 3 premium tank. | | Oct 01, 09:32 PCGamesN | | | New World, is turns out, is very popular. Amazon Games' fantasy MMORPG launched earlier this week and immediately saw budding adventures diving into Aeternum in their hundreds of thousands, with peaks of over 750k concurrent players - numbers that put it comfortably among Steam's most-played right now. Naturally, that's meant some pretty hefty queues for some players as servers have struggled to keep up, and the devs announced a server transfer opportunity was coming up to help ease congestion soon. Now, it seems that's due to arrive next week. In a Twitter post updating players on this topic (below), the New World devs announce that they've been "working around the clock to add as many servers as we can and will continue to do so until we stabilise wait times". So far, they've "more than doubled" the number of New World servers and are working to dial up capacity on all available worlds get a higher population cap in place. While these efforts are pushing on, the devs encourage new players diving in for the first time to go for one of the 40% of servers with "low or no wait times". While you might be keen to get stuck in with your friends, the New World devs explain that they're "working hard on a feature that will allow you to transfer your characters to a different server", with their goal being to "release this feature next week". | | Oct 01, 08:17 PCGamesN | | | The end of the 2021 League of Legends patch cycle nears, LoL fans. League of Legends patch 11.19 - the second of the MOBA game's two pre-Worlds patches - has left the testing grounds for (live) pastures new, and it's now 11.20's turn to make its debut on the PBE for a fortnight of tinkering and test-driving. So, let's dig into it and see what's coming. So far, we've got some suitably spooky new skins coming up, just in time for Halloween. There are six new styles from League's Bewitching alternate universe line this patch, with lucky champions Fiora, Nami, Poppy, Syndra, and Yuumi getting their own skins, while Morgana gets her Prestige Edition Bewitching skin with 11.20. You can check these out in the New Champion Skins section below to see the splashes and skins in action. As for balance changes, this patch we've got gameplay updates for Amumu, Darius, Shen, Hecarim, and - well - a good ol' handful of champs. We also know that Rengar will be hanging about for some more testing, though there's no set release patch for his changes just yet. You can catch the latest details on all these changes in the relevant sections below. RELATED LINKS: Best LoL Champions , League of Legends patch 11.20, LoL tier list |

In other words, if it's not sung by a fictional band, hollered by a karaoke-obsessed protagonist, or purred by a honey-tongued vocalist who also shoots at you with a ridiculous firearm, then it doesn't count. For this reason, in-game radios are also out. It's too easy, video games. Sorry. That means no rock station classics from Grand Theft Auto and no 80s bangers from Metal Gear Solid V. | | Oct 01, 09:40 GamingOnLinux Latest Articles | | | XIGNCODE3 is another popular anti-cheat like Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye that currently causes issues for Linux and it's going to hopefully see support (thanks Reddit) for Linux and the Steam Deck by launch. Developed by Wellbia, XIGNCODE3 protects something around 272 titles according to their website although that appears to be spread across PC, mobile and consoles. What games specifically use XIGNCODE3? That's actually not all that easy to find out, as Wellbia don't list the games specifically. Black Desert Online did previously use it but that switched over to Easy Anti-Cheat. Games that do use XIGNCODE3 that we've been able to find include Aion, Blade & Soul, DJMAX RESPECT V, Knight Online and the upcoming ELYON. It's not exactly surprising to suddenly see more vendors look to support Linux either through native builds or Proton, since we know the Steam Deck has a lot of excitement around it. Since it uses SteamOS 3 (based on Arch Linux), any anti-cheat will likely need to be updated for it. We've sent off a message to Wellbia to see if we can find out more information. |
| | Oct 01, 08:41 GamingOnLinux Latest Articles | | | Two big bits of news for Steam Play Proton today with two new versions getting released so let's take a look and see exactly what's new for the Windows compatibility layer. Firstly, NVIDIA announced back in August that DLSS would come to Proton in September for DirectX 11 / 12. Well, their date was a bit off there it seems but Valve / CodeWeavers managed to pull in DLSS support for at least DirectX 12 in Proton Experimental as of September 30. To enable it you need to set PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 as a launch option for games. Additionally this release also fixes crashes in Project Wingman, Satisfactory and other Unreal Engine 4 games using the Vulkan renderer. On top of that Proton 6.3-7 is also officially out now which includes these improvements: - The following games are now playable:
- Life is Strange: True Colors
- Quake Champions (broken after a game update)
- Divinity Original Sin 2 (broken after a game update)
- eFootball PES 2021
- EVERSLAUGHT VR
- WRC 8, 9 and 10
- Fix Logitech G920 mapping for F1 2020.
- Fix Resident Evil Village display settings.
- Improve Forza Horizon 4 windowing.
- Update DXVK to v1.9.2.
- Update vkd3d-proton to include the latest development work.
Details can be seen on the official changelog any time. If you need to learn more about Proton be sure to check out our Beginner's Guide. |
