Complete Monster Hunter Wilds quest and main mission list

What are the Monster Hunter Wilds quests? There are a fair few ways to hunt monsters in Capcom's RPG juggernaut. You can find the monster you want to slay out in the wild, hunt it down during an optional quest, or stumble upon it during a main story mission. As such, keeping track of all these methods can be rather difficult, and if you're a completionist, you'll want to know that you've done everything the game has to offer.

Monster Hunter Wilds offers main story chapters with different sub-chapters within them, and within those are assignments to hunt certain monsters that become optional quests later on. Yes, that's almost as confusing as remembering the names of all the Monster Hunter Wilds monsters or deciding which Monster Hunter Wilds weapon to main. Thankfully, we've created a complete list of every main mission, side quest, and assignment so you can keep on top of your to-do list.

AMD Radeon RX 9060 is official, rumored to have near-RTX 4070 gaming performance

AMD has officially stated that there is an RX 9060 series and that it will be arriving in Q2 of this year. That means an AMD Radeon RX 9060 and potentially an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT will be available by the end of June, with the cards even potentially breaking cover as early as April 2025.

With AMD's hugely anticipated RX 9070 series gaming GPUs going on sale later this week, and Nvidia also primed to unleash its RTX 5070 in the next few days, the fight for the best graphics card that doesn't cost over $1,000 is wide open. However, while the RX 9070 XT, as well as the RX 9070 could potentially offer great calue, they're still going to cost at least $549. As such, the RX 9060 series is really going to be the one to watch for gamers on a budget.

One of the most brutal FPS games ever, Condemned might get a full PC remaster

When you think of the most renowned FPS games on PC - Half-Life, Doom, Cyberpunk 2077 - they're all about power. It's big guns. It's loud music. It's lots and lots of kills. But the two Condemned games, from esteemed and sadly recently departed FEAR and No One Lives Forever icon Monolith, are different. Firstly, these are 'shooters' where actual shooters are rare - most of the combat is melee-based. Secondly, you never feel strong. Condemned and its sequel are terrifying, and you spend most of your time fighting for your life. Brilliant and bloody, Condemned deserves a revival. One former Monolith exec and a developer at System Shock, Turok, and Quake necromancer Nightdive seem to be thinking the same thing…

What is the best Monster Hunter Wilds Bow build? The Bow returns in Wilds, and is one of the Monster Hunter weapons that has received the biggest changes, making it more accessible to new players, that's if you're able to manage your stamina and you like mid to long range combat, with the occasional close-range monster dodge.

The Bow doesn't require any ammo management, making it a great option over similar Monster Hunter Wilds weapons such as the MH Wilds Bowgun, but it does require you to keep an eye on your stamina as well as effectively manage a new trick arrow gauge. The best Monster Hunter Wilds Bow build should see you switching between shot types and using your trick arrow gauge to land killer blows.

Where to buy 5070 - retailers to check for stock first

Trying to find out where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPU? Well, we're here to help you with that. We've checked the virtual store shelves of retailers around the world to find where Nvidia's latest mid-range gaming GPU contender can be pre-ordered, or where you can set up stock notifications for when the card launches later this year.

With the RTX 5070 potentially set to be the best graphics card in its price range, including the supposed ability of the RTX 5070 to offer RTX 4090 performance, it's going to be in high demand. What's more, it may only be available in very limited numbers when the RTX 5070 release date window opens. As such, you'll have to be quick to grab one of these new Nvidia cards, especially if you don't want to pay inflated prices from scalpers buying the cards from trusted retailers, only to then resell them on the likes of eBay.

The official RTX 5070 price is $549 / $549 CAD / £549 / AU$1,109 for the Founders Edition card, so that's the price you should be hoping to pay for Nvidia's own stylish card. Other cards from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac might demand more, but that's the ballpark figure you should expect to pay. While RTX 5090 stock and RTX 5080 stock are now available, no RTX 5070 stock is available yet and won't be for a little longer. However, some sites are now starting to show "notify me" services, so you can sign up to know when stock becomes available, and these may eventually switch to pre-order options too.

Where to buy 5070 Ti - Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti stock for March 3

Do you want to know where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti? Well, we have some good news as we're updating this guide daily with links to retailers around the world, so you can find out where the new mid-range gaming GPU is in stock, or at least find where there are pre-order or notification options in place.

The Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti is the mid-tier card in the company's new RTX 5000 series GPU lineup. While the RTX 5070 is your entry into the series, and the RTX 5090 is the range-topper, the RTX 5070 Ti could well be the best graphics card choice for those looking to maximize their bang for buck.

A notable aspect of the RTX 5070 Ti is that Nvidia isn't producing its own Founders Edition card. As such there isn't an MSRP for that exact card. However, the guide price for stock-speed cards is $749 / $749 CAD / £729 / AU$1,109. These cards are manufactured by the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac. The RTX 5070 Ti release date was February 20, 2025, although stock sold out quickly after the launch.

Where to buy 5080 - Nvidia RTX 5080 stock for March 3

If you want to find out where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, then you've come to the right place. We're updating this guide daily with links to retailers worldwide so we can let you know as soon as they get stock on their shelves. The RTX 5080 launch was in January 2025, so many retailers have not yet had time to replenish their stock after the initial influx of orders, but there are some ways to get hold of the card.

The Nvidia RTX 5080 is a very popular option for those wanting to upgrade to an RTX 5000 series GPU. That's because, while our RTX 5090 review showed it to be the undisputed new best graphics card, it also offers relatively poor value for $1,999. The RTX 5080, though, is a more reasonable choice that offers reasonable value, as we found in our RTX 5080 review.

Because of this expected popularity, and because the entire RTX 5000 series is currently in short supply with high demand, you're going to need to be organized if you want to secure a card for a sensible price.

With an official price of $999 / $1,449.99 CAD / £979 / AU$2,019, Nvidia's own Founders Edition card is one of the most affordable options. Other cards from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac might demand more, but sometimes offer lower running temperatures, quieter fans, and more overclocking headroom. The RTX 5080 release date was Thursday, January 30, with the launch time being 9am ET / 6am PT / 2pm GMT. With most stores already sold out, some are operating a "notify me" service, so you can sign up to know when stock becomes available again.

Where to buy 5090 - Nvidia RTX 5090 stock for March 3

If you still need to know where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, we have you covered. In this guide, you'll find links to stores around the globe that have either stock notifications, pre-orders, or actual stock available and we update it every day, to see if new stock has arrived anywhere. If you want to grab the most hotly demanded graphics card of the moment, you're in exactly the right place.

With the new Nvidia RTX 5090 proving to be the undisputed new best graphics card in terms of raw power, demand for this GPU is currently huge. What's more, it's currently only dropping in very limited numbers, so you'll have to be quick on the draw to grab one in the coming months, especially if you don't want to pay inflated prices from scalpers on the likes of Ebay.

With an official price of $1,999 / $4,449 CAD / £1,939 / AU$4,039 for the Founders Edition card, that's the price you should be hoping to pay for Nvidia's own impressively slim card design. Other cards from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and Zotac demand more, especially if they're overclocked, but that's the ballpark figure you should expect to pay. The RTX 5090 release date was Thursday, January 30, at 9am ET / 6am PT / 2pm GMT, with stock becoming available then, although most retailers are out of stock right now. Some stores are operating a "notify me" service, so you can sign up to know when more stock becomes available, so if you can't find the card you want you might be able to get a notification for when more arrives.

Alongside extra resources to help you create the ultimate industrial complex, we expect a wedge of Oroberyl, the game's premium currency, to arrive with many of the codes - Endfield is a gacha game, after all.

Monster Hunter Wilds has been racking up the skulls, attracting well over a million simultaneous Steam players this weekend despite a mixed player reaction, with particular scorn reserved for its technical performance.

Now begins the process of patching the behemoth to address some player-reported problems with certain quests. Patching is sort of like slaughtering a Monster in reverse: sewing on horns and tails rather than chopping them off, re-embowelling the shackled form of the creature so that it can gallop across the plains, monstrous and free.

We can already call dibs on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC copies, though the Switch editions aren't showing up at the eShop at the moment. Hideki Kamiya Wants to Revisit Scalebound

Hideki Kamiya has once again expressed his interest in reviving Scalebound. The game he would have worked on with Microsoft was canceled in 2017.

News of Kamiya's interest came from social media for his new development studio Clovers. In a 30-second video, we can see Hideki Kamiya watching YouTube videos of Scalebound in the office, reminiscing over the game's development. A member of the team comments that the protagonist's smartphone and headphones made the game seem like an isekai game, something that Kamiya notes is a trend right now. In the text of the post, Kamiya is quoted as saying he would "love to make it again someday". He later followed this up with another post simply saying, "let's do it, Phil!", directly addressing Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox.

Scalebound was originally announced at Microsoft's E3 2014 presentation as a collaboration between Microsoft and Hideki Kamiya's previous studio, PlatinumGames. Despite positive reaction and some prominent marketing, the game would eventually be canceled in 2017. However, Kamiya has expressed interest in reviving the project before, as he'd previously stated this in an interview with IGN Japan in 2020. Microsoft currently retain the Scalebound IP.

Hideki Kamiya has since left PlatinumGames, but is clearly hoping that his new studio, Clovers, may be an opportunity to revive the project. The studio is named after the former Clover Studio at Capcom where Kamiya worked on Okami and Viewtiful Joe. The name is appropriate, as their first project will be a long-awaited sequel to Okami.

Scalebound was originally in development for the Xbox One and PC, but was canceled in 2017.

Monster Hunter Wilds Progression Bug Patch

Capcom announced that a patch for Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release and fix a prominent progression bug in Chapter 5. The patch will roll out for all players on March 4, 2025.

The progression bug was acknowledged by Capcom, as Monster Hunter Wilds players discovered they were unable to move forward in the story beyond a certain point. In Chapter 5-2, during "A World Turned Upside Down," an NPC that players are required to speak to sometimes doesn't appear. A patch is on the way to fix the issue, and that will appear sometime during the day on March 4, 2025 for all players. We will be unable to access online features while the patch is being installed, but will be able to hunt online again once applied.

The progression bug isn't the only issue Capcom has attempted to fix with Monster Hunter Wilds. A separate hotfix has already been released to address some other concerns. A bug involving the blacksmith has been fixed, where weapon upgrade tutorials would be shown repeatedly, preventing the player from accessing certain menu options.

This hotfix has rolled out to all platforms, although it also addressed another issue on PS5. This bug prevented the Grill a Meal and Ingredient Center features from unlocking. The issue is set to be fixed in the progression bug patch for Xbox and PC players.

While Monster Hunter Wilds has been generally well received, it has also suffered from a troubled launch. In addition to game-breaking bugs such as those being fixed in the latest patch, it's also suffered from poor performance on PC, resulting in a Mixed status on Steam.

Monster Hunter Wilds is out now for PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Kaien Shiba Is in Bleach Rebirth of Souls

The latest Bleach Rebirth of Souls character is something of a surprising one, as it turns out Kaien Shiba will be a playable fighter in the upcoming game. His appearance was teased in a "special trailer" on February 27, 2025. Now it's confirmed he'll be a full part of the roster and his moveset was confirmed.

Kaien Shiba used to be the lieutenant of the Gotei 13 13th Division, working alongside Rukia Kuchiki and captain Juushiro Ukitake. He uses the Zanpakuto Nejibana. He is one of the characters in the game with a special gauge unique to him. His attack power and number of hits changes based on his Current Aura State. That gauge is, in turn, filled by using the attacks Spiritual Pressure Move Sorei Suiha and Signature Move Tumbling Current. His Spiritual Pressure Move Sakanami doesn't affect that gauge and only deals damage.

Here's the full Kaien Shiba Bleach Rebirth of Souls trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zfa_244AAc

Lots of Bleach Rebirth of Souls characters ended up confirmed ahead of the Kaien Shiba reveal. Here are the trailers looking at the movesets for all of them, in case you missed one. Before his appearance, we saw announcements sharing Espada members like Coyote Starrk. The official site is also keeping track of them.

Bleach Rebirth of Souls will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on March 21, 2025. The Bleach anime, including Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, are streaming on on Disney+ and HuluViz Media handles the manga series outside of Japan.

Level-5's newest update on Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time confirmed that Keiji Inafune is no longer working on the game.

Level-5 CEO and Founder Akihiro Hino shared an update on its upcoming game Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, and in it he confirmed Keiji Inafune is no longer part of the company or project. As a result, Hino replaced him as producer on the title. He explained that is one of the reasons the JRPG and life sim experienced so many delays. He also promised it is the largest entry in the series so far.

Keiji Inafune joined Level-5 back in June 2017. That was when Level-5 acquired the developer and made the studio Level-5 Comcept. He worked on Dragon & Colonies there. That shut down in February 2020. One of his other projects in recent years was Red Ash: The Indelible Legend, which never came to fruition in part due to a failed crowdfunding campaign.

As a reminder, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time was revealed in February 2023, and Keiji Inafune was confirmed as producer for the Level-5 game at that time. It got pushed out of 2023 into 2024. It was supposed to launch in Summer 2024 at one point. Inafune was still a part of the project at that time. It was then delayed out of October 2024, then out of April 2025. It is now finally expected to launch on May 21, 2025

It seems like things could be more stable. Hino noted, "All game data has been completed, and we are currently making the final balance adjustments." He cited the delays allowed someone to update the UI and implement cross-play and cross-save compatibility.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will come to the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC on May 21, 2025.

Macross Heroine Audition 2025

Bigwest has launched a new singing audition that will determine the voice actress for the heroine of the upcoming brand-new Macross entry. The audition's official title is Macross Heroine Audition 2025, and applications are open until April 30, 2025.

The company requires applicants to perform their own renditions of the demo song, which is titled "Ai to Ai." This audition is only available to women who are residing in Japan and aged between 13 and 22 years old as of April 1, 2025.

The residence clause is especially important, as the judges will summon applicants who have passed the initial screenings for face-to-face interviews in the final phase in late July 2025. In addition, the eventual winner will have to participate in promotions and concerts for the new anime show while attending singing and dancing lessons in Japan.

Bigwest has also published a sample "Ai to Ai" performance by Minori Suzuki. The latter won the previous audition and became appointed as the voice actress for Freyja Wion in the 2016 entry Macross Delta. Bigwest added that it will publish more samples from other singers in weekly intervals.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ7DfX2k9p0

The new Macross anime show is undergoing production at Bandai Namco Filmworks' studio Sunrise. While the latter is best known for the Gundam franchise, it can dedicate a majority of staff members to work on this project, as the series' 2025 show Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is being made in collaboration with Hideaki Anno and Studio Khara of Evangelion fame. The new Macross anime show is expected to be available to watch worldwide, following the deal signed by Bigwest and Harmony Gold in 2021.

Bigwest will close the public application period for the Macross Heroine Audition 2025 on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Street Fighter 6 - Turnabout Gala Fighting Pass features Ace Attorney crossover content

Capcom has released a new Street Fighter 6 Fighting Pass that primarily adds crossover content from the Ace Attorney series. The new pass has the official title "Turnabout Gala," and it is the featured pass for the fighting game in March 2025.

One of the highlights of this Fighting Pass is the avatar gear set, which will let players turn their avatars to the Steel Samurai, one of the Ace Attorney series' in-universe mascots. It also includes title bars and stickers that feature the series' recurring characters like Phoenix Wright, Maya Fey, Miles Edgeworth, and the Judge.

The Music segment of the Fighting Pass features the Pursuit tracks from the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy entries, which are readily playable via compilation releases on consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. The three tracks are "Pursuit - Corner the Culprit" from the first entry, "Pursuit - Confront the Culprit" from the second title Justice for All, and "Pursuit - Catch the Culprit" from the trilogy's climactic entry Trials and Tribulations.

The Classic Game slot is the only segment that does not feature Ace Attorney, as there are no arcade games based on the franchise. Capcom has instead added Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness, the 2D mecha fighting game that appeared first in arcades worldwide in 1995 and later ported to Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation in Japan in 1997.

Monster Hunter Zoids new crossover toy - Gatling Fox featuring Tamamitsune aka Mizutsune

Takara Tomy has revealed a new crossover toy between Monster Hunter and Zoids, and it will feature Mizutsune and Gatling Fox from the respective franchises. The company will open pre-orders for the new toy on March 6, 2025.

The new product will continue the collaboration between Capcom and Takara Tomy's franchises that launched in 2024. However, while the first wave featured plastic model kits that the owner must assemble first, this product will appear under the Synergenex series, which usually consists of pre-built action figures.

This toy will feature a Gatling Fox donned with an armor design that resembles Mizutsune, one of the flagship monsters of Monster Hunter Generations, which is originally known in the Japanese version as Tamamitsune.

The official reveal tweet is also available to view right below:

https://twitter.com/zoids_official/status/1896395103972782267

This is not the first time Takara Tomy has featured the Gatling Fox in a crossover product, though. In 2023, the company revealed a special Gatling Fox model kit designed after the Hololive Vtuber, Shirakami Fubuki. This kit was exclusively available for pre-orders at the Great Zoids 40th Anniversary Exhibition in the Tokyo Dome City in October 2023.

Preview: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Paints a Promising Picture

At a glance, it's not hard to recognize some of the popular JRPG titles that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is drawing from and paying homage to. While many developers have attempted to recreate the nostalgia of the genre during the 90s and early aughts, it's unusual for a game to catch my attention with such strength. And after roughly 4 hours playing an early build of the game, my interest has only grown.

The main conceit in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is simple. The Paintress is an entity with the ability to kill any person below a given age when painting a number in the sky. After decades of trying to fight back, it is the turn of Expedition 33 (named after the number in the sky) to embark on a journey to kill the Paintress. This build of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that I played skipped past the introduction in the city of Lumière and jumps straight to the action. It showed a summary of the events leading up to it, which involved an old man attacking the Expedition and causing protagonists Gustave, Lune, and Maelle to disband. I was immediately invested and hooked by the mystery. How come an old man is here, considering there are no people over the age of 33 alive?

After the intro, I jumped into the thick of it. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG that takes inspiration from many classic and modern RPG and JRPG games. From what I played, navigating and exploring the environments is simple. There are some very light platforming elements and many detours that lead to powerful enemies guarding useful equipment and items. The two environments I could explore in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for this preview were considerably big, but I never felt fatigued exploring. The two main areas I explored are stunning and the art direction is fantastic. The first one looked a ravine set atop a mountain or hill, with ruined buildings straight out of early 20th century France stranded in between rock formations. The second area, aptly called the Flying Waters, looked like a coral reef sitting at the bottom of the sea, with fish and marine creatures roaming around. Except the entire area was in the surface of the continent, in what looked like a mountain pass.

In between these two zones, I was allowed to traverse a small version of the world map which was featured in a recent trailer. I was immediately reminded of how uncommon it is to see a good ol' world map in an RPG nowadays, and I loved every second I spent exploring it. While the main areas are visually breathtaking, the world map had a different beauty all on its own, with all the bizarre constructions and ruins inspired by the French Belle Époque floating around the continent, reminiscent of a diorama. The combination of French architecture and impossible fantastic elements is captivating and results in a unique looking game.

It was on the world map where I was able to set up camp to rest and save my progress, and got a cutscene between Gustave and Lune, my only party members at the time. While there were other cutscenes before that point, it was during this event and the one preceding it that I was sold on the performances. Charlie Cox lends a theatrical quality to Gustave that clicks with the atmosphere of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but Kirsty Rider as Lune was the standout performance for me. The duo's dynamic and clash on how to proceed after a harrowing experience was delivered succinctly, and the dialogue was punctuated with the characters talking over each other, overcome with bouts of anger and anguish. Jennifer English as Maelle also does a great job and I have a soft spot for her character already. What also complements the aesthetic and performances is the music. The various songs in the demo were beautiful, and I was particularly surprised at the battle music changing between areas, with the battle theme in the Flying Waters being a highlight.

However, the main focus of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is in its combat, which puts great emphasis in creating combo opportunities between characters in the party. The max party size seems to be 3 which felt perfectly balanced. As part of the demo, I was able to play as Gustave, Lune, and eventually Maelle. Gustave is a frontliner that fights with a sword and pistol. He has a mechanical arm that can store energy and unleash it with an ability that scales off of it, dealing massive amounts of damage. Almost every action that Gustave takes gives him a charge of his arm. Meanwhile, Luna is a magic adept character that can store up to 4 elemental "stains" obtained from the skills she casts. Each skill can in turn be powered or have its effects changed with stains, making for a very flexible casting system that rewards smart use of skills, but never punishes you for not being the most optimal.

Maelle joins on the later part of the demo, and she is a duelist that changes between 3 different stances with the use of her skills, capable of linking them in order to deliver powerful combos. In my experience, Maelle was the character with the most consistent high damage, and setting up combos to make her deliver devastating damage was incredibly fun and rewarding. However, I could say the same about Gustave's more straightforward overcharge mechanic, or Lune's stains.

Beating enemies will grant experience, which in turn gives players stats points to freely allocate, and skill points to use on each character's upgrade tree. The game lets you fully customize your characters in many different ways, and it seems like the final version will allow to respect to try other builds. Different weapons scale off of different attributes, like vitality or agility, and leveling them up will unlock different passive effects. While I couldn't try these passives in the demo, it looks like flexibility and free-form customization will be a big focus in the final version. Even with what was available in this version of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, I was reminded of so many JRPG and RPG classics with crunchy systems that allow for some ridiculously fun set ups, and with only four hours I was capable of getting some impressive combos that got my blood pumping.

One of these upgrade systems were the Pictos, a type of equipment that grant stats as well as substantial passive upgrades. Each character can equip up to 3 Pictos, and after completing 4 battles with a new Picto equipped, characters can freely equip the passive upgrade if they have enough Lumina points. With these, I was able to set up some really fun combos, such as gaining extra Action Points (or AP, used to cast skills) per enemy kill. I would then use the free aim projectile every character has (which spend AP charges without ending my turn) to hit enemies in their weak spot for massive damage, finish them off with one or two more shots, regain my AP, and continue onto the next enemy, wiping them all in quick succession.

Unlike other RPGs and JRPG games, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 doesn't seem to have normal consumables, instead having only three types of items you can use in combat; a healing potion, an item to replenish your Action Points (used to cast skills,) and a reviving potion. At first, I chafed against this system, but as I started getting shards that expand the uses of each consumable, I started to really appreciate the idea. The flags of previous Expeditions are set around the various environments in the game, which lets you upgrade your characters or rest to recover all your HP and resources, which also makes enemies respawn. Being able to use items in combat knowing I could easily replenish them put me in a different mindset than having to purchase them or getting drops. Merchants exist in the world of Clair Obscur. The one I encountered sold really useful upgrade materials, as well as a secret Picto that I had to gain the right to see by challenging the merchant do a 1vs1 duel.

So far, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is shaping up to be a memorable time. The game feels old school and brand new at the same time. Despite all the recognizable inspirations, the demo left me with a very strong impression, with the different gameplay systems involved harmonizing to make a very crunchy and flexible experience. The mystery of the Paintress and the fate of Lumière are enticing hooks, and I am eager to see where it goes. All of this is supported by a wonderful artistic department that blend fantasy with a uniquely French aesthetic.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will come out on April 24, 2025 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

Sims 2 screenshot of a Sim painting at an easel.

Looking for a list of all hobbies in The Sims 2? The Sims 2: Freetime expansion introduced 10 hobbies for Sims to pick up, each with a different associated career and secret lot. Read on for a list of all hobbies and more information on how to unlock them in The Sims 2.

Sims 2 hobbies list

Sims 2 screenshot of two Sims engaging in their hobbies.

As mentioned above, there are 10 possible hobbies to pick up if you have The Sims 2: Freetime installed. These can be discovered when Sims perform an activity associated with the hobby. You'll know when this happens as the game will issue a pop-up message in the top right corner telling you that a Sim has discovered a new hobby.

Sims with certain personality traits are predisposed to pick up a hobby relating to their traits. You can check a Sim's personality traits by navigating to the 'Hobby Enthusiasm' menu (click on the head symbol, then the kite symbol on the bottom left panel). Here are all the available hobbies in The Sims 2, which personality types are more pre-disposed to pick them up, and which activities may trigger them.

Hobby Personality traits Activities to raise enthusiasm
Arts and Crafts Sloppy, Nice Regularly view art and photo albums. Create art pieces like paintings or pottery. Flower arranging, sewing and toy making also raise enthusiasm for Arts and Crafts.
Cuisine Neat, Lazy Cook, bartend, or simply eat food. You can also enter cooking contests and write restaurant guides. Use a Schokolade 890 Chocolate Manufacturing Facility for an extra boost.
Film and Literature Shy, Lazy You can raise enthusiasm by watching most TV programs, particularly the Sims Broadcasting Network, KidzTube, or a movie. You can also write a novel or simply read books from a bookcase.
Fitness Outgoing, Active Any physical activity will generally raise Fitness enthusiasm. This includes activities like jogging, yoga, swimming, rope jumping, ice skating, and roller skating. You can also take a spin on the Electro Dance Sphere.
Games Playful, Grouchy Play computer games, video games, pool, poker, chess, arcade games, or darts. You can also go bowling or enter a gaming contest.
Music and Dance Outgoing, Serious The easiest way to raise enthusiasm for Music and Dance is to (unsurprisingly) perform music with an instrument or dance. You can also enter a dance contest, listen to an MP3 player, and DJ at a booth. Doing ballet exercises and singing karaoke also works.
Nature Sloppy, Playful In general, be outside and engage in nature activities like bird watching, catching bugs, cloud watching, watering flowers, and feeding fish. Gardening, raking leaves, sleeping in tents, and fishing can also contribute.
Science Neat, Serious The easiest way to earn enthusiasm for science is by stargazing through a telescope. You can also observe ants, summon aliens, and use various science equipment like the Surgical Training Station or Weathernaught 57X.
Sports Active, Grouchy Play sports like catch, soccer, boxing, basketball, golf, or kicky bag. You can also toss a football, go axe throwing, and log rolling.
Tinkering Shy, Nice Have your Sim repair broken electrical objects to quickly raise enthusiasm for Tinkering. You can also raise your level by playing with toy robots, RC toys, restoring the junk car, and using the robot crafting station.

Along with the activities listed above, you can also gain enthusiasm for any hobby by browsing or blogging about the topic on a PC. You can also read hobby magazines, their respective sections in the daily newspaper, or talk about the topic with other Sims.

A Sim's enthusiasm level for a hobby isn't the same as their skill level. A Sim may find enjoyment in cooking, for example, but have a low cooking skill. To see a Sim's skill levels to compare, navigate to the 'Skills & Career' panel represented by the desk icon at the bottom left of the screen.

Predestined hobbies

Although a Sim may pick up any hobby, each Sim will have a special predestined hobby that they are more enthused with and will gain levels in faster than others. This is determined by your Sim's personality traits.

Once discovered, the hobby will be outlined in silver in the 'Hobby Enthusiasm' panel, a special noise will sound and you'll get a pop-up message saying "I'm very excited that I tried this [hobby name]! That was a lot of fun!".

Hobbies and careers

Certain hobbies are connected to careers. When a Sim excels at a hobby, they may be approached with a job offer at an elevated level, giving them a fast track onto the career ladder. The following hobbies can help you get a starting jump on these careers:

Hobby Career
Arts and Crafts Artist
Cuisine Culinary
Film and Literature Entertainment, Journalism, Show Business
Fitness Adventurer
Games Gamer
Music and Dance Music, Dance
Nature Natural Scientist
Science Science
Sports Athletic
Tinkering Intelligence, Military

Secret hobby lots

When a Sim gets to level 5 'Enthusiasm' for a hobby, they may receive a visit at their lot by an 'Instructor'. Instructors are masters of a particular hobby and can coach other Sims to help them gain levels faster. They will usually introduce themselves to your Sim and then leave. You'll be able to visit them again at their associated secret lot.

Alternatively, they may just leave a message with your Sim, inviting them to a Secret Lot. You'll know when you've got access as there will be a membership card icon next to the Hobby Enthusiasm meter.

To visit a secret lot, prepare your Sim to travel (select your Sim and select the 'Walk to Community Lot' option or call a Taxi). From the neighborhoods menu, select 'Hobbies'. This will show you the secret lots you can travel to. The following secret lots will unlock depending on your hobby:

Hobby Secret Lot Lot activities
Arts and Crafts My Muse II Pottery wheels
Easels
Drafting Tables
Sewing machines
Activity Table
Cuisine Sue's Secret Kitchen Kitchen utensils
Chocolate Manufacturing Facility
Cooking judge
Film and Literature Desirable Discourse TV screen

Obstacle Course
Games Games of Glory Pinball

Surgical Training Station
Biotech Station

Sports Dreamy Fields Soccer nets
Basketball hoops
Execuputter golf course

Tinkering spots

Children cannot gain membership to a secret hobby lot. However, if they have a level 5 'Hobby Enthusiasm' in any of the hobbies, they can do so when they become teens. It is usually beneficial to befriend Instructors as this goes towards gaining promotions in their associated careers.

How to get a Genie lamp

If you reach level 10 'Hobby Enthusiasm' in any hobby whilst also achieving a high Lifetime Aspiration level, there is a chance the matchmaker NPC will visit your lot with a Genie Lamp. If you interact with the lamp and rub it, a Genie will appear and grant your Sim three wishes.

These wishes can range from money to attraction and even have the power to bring a Sim back to life. Careful though, if the Genie is in a bad mood they may sabotage the wish and bring them back as a zombie.

That rounds up our guide to all hobbies in The Sims 2. For more tips and tricks, check out our guide to all WooHoo locations, ways to kill Sims and how to get abducted by aliens.

Cthulhu

Howard Phillips Lovecraft is arguably the most influential master of horror to ever have lived. Though oftentimes plagued by tragically regressive views and sometimes written in a rather infuriating way, his works remain ever-fruitful in inspiring other writers, filmmakers, and even video game devs who thought we wouldn't notice.

As the man seemingly had already shed most of his more unlikable beliefs by the time of his death, I believe it fair for us to remember his best works, even if only to help inspire horror writers or developers looking for a serious bout of inspiration — we know it works.

10. The Call Of Cthulhu

The cover for The Call of Cthulhu
Image via CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform

The Call Of Cthulhu is about a detective's ill-fated investigation of an eerie and mysterious cult. This synopsis seems like the most clichéd of plots right now, but that's only because of its immense influence.

Though it's easily the most famous tale by Lovecraft, The Call Of Cthulhu is rather far from his best. That's not to say it sucks, but rather to state just how great some of his stuff is. Also, newcomers will likely be disappointed to learn just how little Cthulhu does in the book, despite being the poster boy of all things Lovecraft. That's not Lovecraft's fault, though, but that of the people who needed to find a cool figure to promote his stuff.

9. The Thing On The Doorstep

The cover for The Thing on the Doorstep
Image via CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform

The Thing On The Doorstep tells the story of a man who may not be who (or even what) he says he is. It's a riveting mystery tale about a man desperately trying to tell a truth that might prove too strange to believe.

If you're into stories about possession and believe tales of demonic possession influenced by Christianity have become stale, then you should probably give the original a try.

8. Dagon

The cover for Dagon
Image via SAGA Egmont

Before we began exploring space, our very own seemingly bottomless seas were just as scary — if not more — than the dark skies above. Dagon is a tale of a man adrift at sea that perfectly mixes the natural horrors anyone would experience in such a scenario with the otherworldly torments Lovecraft is known for.

Dagon is a fantastic story, though one that should come with a trigger warning for its themes of suicide.

7. At The Mountains Of Madness

The cover for At The Mountains Of Madness
Image via CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform

At The Mountains Of Madness is about a geologist's attempt to prevent a team of scientists from going on an expedition to Antarctica that will inevitably unleash upon them horrors beyond what their human science can prepare them for.

Are you the kind of person who cringes at seeing tourists blissfully risking their lives to take pictures at the top of snowy and life-threatening mountains? Then this is the one for you.

6. From Beyond

The cover for From Beyond
Image via OTB eBook publishing

From Beyond tells the story of Crawford Tillinghast, a brilliant scientist who goes too far in one of his experiments and then has the people around him inevitably deal with the consequences.

This is one of the most common tropes in Sci-Fi literature — even in Lovecraft's body of work, really — but this is more or less where it started, and this is where it's done the best. Tillinghast's search for other dimensions and the discovery of what horrors plague them remain some of the best examples of "Fear Of The Unknown" literature.

5. The Dunwich Horror

The cover for The Dunwich Horror
Image by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform

Despite the unrelated name, The Dunwich Horror is actually a much more compelling "Cthulhu mythos" tale than The Call Of Cthulhu.

It's a better, more compelling, and more straightforward tale that begins with the investigation of a very peculiar family that naturally takes a turn into more otherworldly and horrifying territory.

4. The Rats In The Walls

The cover for The Rats In The Walls
Image via Positronic Publishing

If Lovecraft's prejudiced views do in any way shape or form cause you pain, then The Rats In The Walls is definitely not the tale for you — but mostly for a stupid simple reason. That reason is a cat in that story, which is named after a racial slur. That really sucks, especially in a story supposedly about rats, where a cat is always going to be important.

If you manage to ignore that ridiculously stupid name, The Rats In The Walls is one of the most thrilling and riveting mysteries ever written, one that will keep you guessing and want you to know more every step of the way until you reach its tremendous closing act.

3. The Shadow Over Innsmouth

The cover for The Shadow Over Innsmouth
Image via KWD Press

This is the story of a man who travels to investigate an eerie town thought to have been ruined by the government only to find out things are worse than anyone could've imagined. The Shadow Over Innsmouth provides a welcome breath of fresh air for detective stories and is likely single-handedly responsible for the "mystery town" trope seen in classics such as Twin Peaks.

Don't let the title throw you off. The Shadow Over Innsmouth — not The Call Of Cthulhu — was the basis for the spectacularly underrated Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth video game.

2. The Whisperer In Darkness

The cover for The Whisperer In Darkness
Image via E-BOOKARAMA

If you read The Call Of Cthulhu and end up feeling overwhelmed, then the Whisperer In Darkness might just be the one for you. Though it's not a remake in any way shape or form, It's a similar tale of investigation, and a much better-told one at that.

The Whisperer In Darkness is not the deepest of Lovecraft's tales, but it's the most horrifyingly fun and arguably the most likely to get others hooked on his writing and mythos.

1. The Colour Out Of Space

The cover for The Colour Out Of Space
Image via Miskatonic Archives

The Colour Out Of Space tells the tale of a man who's either going insane or dealing with the beginning of an alien invasion — long before stories of alien invasions were a thing. Instead of little green men, flying saucers, or robot tripods, this man has to contend with a lifeform capable of emanating an incomprehensible color.

When combined with the overall quality of the tale, the brilliant and possibly even dangerous concept that might bring readers to the brink of madness as they try to conjure a new color in their minds makes this a truly transcendent tale.

The Colour Out Of Space has been adapted to movie format on two different occasions, one making use of extremely vibrant colors, the other in black and white, and both rock.

Two players with different classes standing next to each other in Dead Rails Roblox experience

Going without any starting items into your next run can be really tiresome in Dead Rails. Buying items that last you only for one life is arguably as bad. However, there is a way to start each journey loaded up, and that is by getting and equipping classes. So, without further ado, let's dive into a complete guide to classes in Dead Rails.

What are Classes in Dead Rails

Classes in Dead Rails let you carry preset items into each run without having to buy those items for bonds. Also, some classes give you unique passive bonuses, like being able to revive other players without bandages. All in all, save up all the bonds that you find and invest them into unlocking classes so that you always spawn with some starting items.

Class Tier List

There aren't many classes in Dead Rails. Subsequently, there is a big strength gap between them that makes the following Dead Rails class tier list quite linear. However, even though Ironclad might be the best class overall, other classes can prove quite useful, especially in party play.

  1. Ironclad: The Ironclad gives you a full set of armor, which can save you a lot of money at the start of your run. However, the 20% reduced movement speed can hinder you later on.
  2. The Alamo: The Alamo is an excellent class overall that lets you fortify your train right from the start, which is especially important when defending against Bandits early on.
  3. Doctor: The Doctor is probably the best class when playing with friends because it allows you to save your teammates even when you run out of bandages.
  4. Arsonist: Arsonist is an excellent class if you are a Molotov enjoyer. However, Molotovs don't spawn in each fort, so don't throw them in vain.
  5. None: There is really nothing to be said about the None class, as the bonuses it provides are also non-existent.

Class List

Below, you can find all the classes in Dead Rails, along with their cost, the starting items they give you, and the unique passive bonuses they provide you with.

Class Details Starting Items Price
Ironclad • Your movement speed is reduced by 20%. • Helmet
• Chestplate
• Left Shoulder Armor
• Right Shoulder Armor
• Shovel
100 Bonds
The Alamo • None • Helmet
• Metal Sheet x3
• Barbed Wire x3
• Shovel
50 Bonds
Arsonist • Your fire damage is doubled. • Shovel
• Molotov x4
20 Bonds
Doctor • You can revive your teammates by sacrificing half of your HP. • Shovel
• Bandage x2
• Snake Oil x2
15 Bonds
None • None • None None

How to Get and Change Classes in Dead Rails

  • A player standing in front of the Tailor shop in the Dead Rails Roblox experience
  • Preview of the Tailor classes menu in the Dead Rails Roblox experience

You can get and change your class in Dead Rails at the Tailor NPC in the main lobby. Each class costs some amount of bonds to unlock, and changing your class is possible only before you start a run. You can see your currently equipped class above your character's head in the main lobby and in the Tailor menu.

Farming Bonds in Dead Rails

If you want to unlock any of the Dead Rails classes, you first have to grind out quite a bit of bonds. Bonds can be hard to come by if you don't know where to look for them. In general, the best locations to find Bonds in Dead Rails are the castle at the 40km mark and Bank vaults in burning towns on the side of the rail. For more information on how to approach entering these places, check out our guide on how to farm bonds in Dead Rails.

That concludes our Dead Rails classes guide. If you are still indecisive about picking your go-to weapon, check out our Dead Rails weapons tier list and find your new main.

Morley and Hinna in Visions of Mana

Visions of mana developer Ouka Studio was just one of many teams hit by the recent NetEase layoffs. Fears of the studio's imminent closure began spreading right after Ouka released Visions of Mana and were soon followed by massive layouts that spared only a handful of employees.

That's when Kenji Ozawa resigned. The co-director of the studio's last title was one of its few employees unaffected by the layouts, but the future of the studio was clear. Ouka would be closed only a few months later, in December 2024. While sharing his grievances with Automaton, Ozawa lamented the state of the video game industry and accused the management at NetEase of dumping the consequences of wrong decision-making on developers. "Management", he says, "needs to protect creators". This seems to be the impetus behind his new project, Studio Sasanqua.

What we know about Studio Sasanqua

https://youtu.be/-bepiAuDR-g?si=Vu5Va6L6rHPaya-v

There isn't a lot of information on Studio Sasanqua. Kenji Ozawa seems to be the representative director and, according to Automaton, might be the one providing funding. It comes with a weirdly artsy trailer (which you can see above) and a stylish, Japanese-only website.

No game has been announced as of yet nor do we know of any developers who are following Ozawa in this adventure.

Which studios did NetEase close?

Various Marvel characters fighting each other in Marvel Rivals.

Despite its words about "investing more, not less" in the game, NetEase is infamous for closing one of the studios behind the extremely successful Marvel Rivals and firing its game director. A similar fate fell over the newly founded studios Worlds Untold and Jar of Sparks. Four studio closures in a few months is not a good sign, and things might be worse still.

According to an investigation from Game File, more of NetEase's foreign studios might be at risk. The Chinese developer and publisher has invested heavily in new studios all over the world in the last few years and is allegedly trying to pull back investments from most of them. If this is true, it means dozens of studios will have to close down only a few years after being opened.

Monster Hunter Wilds Crafting system explaine

Monster Hunter Wilds puts a lot of emphasis on crafting different items, and you can produce many vital goods using various resources.

There are over 50 different crafting recipes that you can unlock inside the game. From healing items to explosives, many of them can be created as long as you have the required ingredients. Compared to other traditional RPGs, there's a cool feature you get to enjoy as well.

How to craft items in Monster Hunter Wilds

The basic form of crafting is straightforward to understand. Open the Start Menu, and the Crafting List is under the first tab. Of course, you can also check the complete list in our guide, allowing you to do something else inside the game.

Some items will be locked if you have just begun your adventures. It's easy to identify them because they won't have any name and are represented by "????". If you have the name of any item, it can be crafted directly with the right resources. The items with hidden recipes will be revealed when you get the items required to produce them.

You can also access the same Crafting List from the Start Menu inside your tent. This is the more favorable approach in my books because you can access your full stash of available resources.

Should you use auto-crafting in Monster Hunter Wilds

If you look at my image above, you'll see a toggle option beside every recipe. The game features an auto-crafting system, which makes life easier for beginners. If auto-crafting is toggled on for an item, it will automatically craft one when you have the required ingredients.

For example, Potions require the use of Herbs. If you collect Herbs while exploring the lands, they automatically convert into Potions if auto-crafting for the item is turned on. This also applies to advanced recipes that use two different ingredients.

At first, I felt comfortable with the auto-crafting feature. However, it can also cause a problem later on, as many recipes often share a common ingredient. Crafting advanced items manually will allow you to exercise control over what you want to craft. Additionally, you'll need some items more than others based on your weapon.

For example, if I use a Double-Blade build, I will always want to keep a lot of Potions stacked in my inventory. On the other hand, using a Long Sword will offer you a lot of scope on defense, and the need for Potions will decline.

Hence, auto-crafting should only be turned on for the fundamental items and manually proceed when producing the advanced items. It might take some time to adapt, but the efforts will be worth it in the long run.

Unflickering Valor is Brant's weapon in Wuthering Waves

Unflickering Valor is a new 5-star Sword in Wuthering Waves. It is also Brant's signature weapon and will be available on the weapon banner during the second phase of version 2.1. You can find the Unflickering Valor's stats, effects, and upgrade materials in this article.

Unflickering Valor stats and effects in Wuthering Waves

As mentioned, Unflicking Valor is a new 5-star Sword and Brant's signature weapon. It has the following stats and effects at level 90 and Syntonization Rank 1 to 5:

  • Base ATK: 412
  • Second stat: 77% Energy Regen
  • Effects: Increase Crit Rate by 8%/10%/12%/14%/16%. Casting Resonance Liberation gives 24%/30%/36%/42%/48% Basic Attack DMG bonus for 10s. Dealing Basic Attack DMG gives 24%/30%/36%/42%/48% Basic Attack DMG Bonus for 4s.

Despite being a 5-star, Brant's signature weapon has low Base ATK. Meanwhile, its second stat provides a large Energy Regen bonus and the weapon's passive provides a good amount of Crit Rate and Basic Attack DMG Bonuses. You can use this weapon on most Sword users, but giving it to anyone other than Brant isn't recommended because of its mixed stats and effects.

The passive effects of the 5-star Sword are good but the high Energy Regen and low Base ATK make it a less-than-ideal option for any on-field DPS unit. At the same time, the high Energy Regen is good for support but these units do not need Crit and damage bonuses.

You can obtain the Blazing Bone by challenging the Dragon of Dirge in Penitent's End, Rinascita.

The Netherworld's Stare

The Netherworld's Stare can be obtained by defeating the weekly boss - Hecate. Mining Node for Lightcrystal in Monster Hunter Wilds

Lightcrystal is one of the oldest existing materials in the Monster Hunter franchise, and returns yet again in Monster Hunter Wilds. If you need to get some for a few crafts, here's how.

How to get Lightcrystal in Monster Hunter Wilds

So, obtaining Lightcrystal is difficult only because of the RNG (random number generation) aspect of it. Like most ore-like materials, you can obtain Lightcrystal by interacting with mining nodes on any of the game's maps. However, Lightcrystal is one of the rather rare results of mining, which means you'll likely need to mine a whole bunch to get a few.

Best Places to Farm Lightcrystal

While Lightcrystal can technically appear in any mining node in Monster Hunter Wilds, there are specific locations that yield it more frequently. For one, Lightcrystal tends to only drop as a Low-Rank material as it is replaced with a different rare material in High-Rank biomes. Look for blue mining outcrops with a black question mark on the map in order to more easily find mining nodes to interact with.

Mining Node symbols in Monster Hunter Wilds
Screenshot by Destructoid

Here are some tips for farming Lightcrystal efficiently:

  • Explore mining-heavy areas: Certain regions of each biome have dense clusters of mining nodes. Identifying these locations will make farming much easier. Use the map to hunt for
  • Utilize Mining Booster Skills: Equipping armor pieces or decorations that increase mining efficiency can boost your chances of obtaining rare materials.
  • Explore the Open World: Since there's no time limit in an open expedition, you can freely farm mining nodes without worrying about quest timers. Mining Nodes with regenerate themselves after some time, and you can keep track of this by looking at the node itself. A fully expended node will not be highlighted in its usual color, but as time goes by, you'll notice that nodes slowly regain color over time. Once fully regained, you can use the node again.

Using Lightcrystal in Monster Hunter Wilds

Lightcrystal is primarily used for crafting weapons, armor, and essential upgrades. Early-game weapons, particularly those that require elemental affinity or high sharpness, often use Lightcrystal as a key component.

If you're planning on crafting equipment that requires Lightcrystal, be sure to farm extra in case you need more for future upgrades.

Alternative Ways to Obtain Lightcrystal

NPC Trade in Monster Hunter Wilds
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you're struggling with RNG, there are alternative ways to get Lightcrystal:

  • Quest Rewards: Some quests, especially gathering-focused ones, offer Lightcrystal as a completion reward.
  • Wait for Mining Outcrop Upsurges - These are a 'random weather pattern' that makes Mining nodes more common for a time, and provide generally more plentiful rewards to be reaped. You check for one using your map.
  • Monster Drops: Occasionally, some monsters (especially those with crystalline body parts) may drop Lightcrystal when broken.
  • Trading with NPCs: Some NPC traders may offer Lightcrystal in exchange for research points or other materials, depending on the biome and your progress in the game.

Lightcrystal is an essential material in Monster Hunter Wilds, especially for the early game, but its rarity can make farming a bit of a grind. By utilizing mining skills and checking alternative sources, you can stock up on this valuable resource more efficiently. Happy hunting!

Two players eating ramen togeather in the Ninja Time Roblox experience

Almost every multiplayer game out there is way more fun when you party up with others in them. In Ninja Time, partying up also has a few benefits to it. However, it can be tricky to party up at first. So, we prepared the following guide on how to make a party in Ninja Time to help you out.

How do Parties Work in Ninja Time

Partying up in Ninja Time makes it a lot easier to do content with your friends. Notably, party members can't deal damage to each other. Also, party members can see a green marker above the heads of their allies so that they can find them at all times. However, members don't share kill participation with each other, so to get loot and complete quests, you still have to tag enemies properly.

How to Make a Party and Invite Players to It in Ninja Time

To make a party in Ninja Time while in-game, click on the Menu button → Extra MenuParty Invite. Keep in mind that you will have to type in the display name of the player you are trying to invite two times—the first time to create a party and then again to invite them to the party. To leave a party you are in, click on the red "Leave" button next to your name in the party menu.

How to Accept a Party Invite in Ninja Time

Accepting a party invite in Ninja Time is easy: simply click on the "Accept" button when another player invites you to a party. The notification pop-up will appear on the right side of your screen; if it doesn't, ask the other player to invite you again. Remember to always check if you can deal damage to other players, and if you can, try remaking a party.

That sums up everything you need to know about how to make a party in Ninja Time. If you need more help on your way to becoming a Hokage, then make sure to check out our Ninja Time Clan, Families, and Elements tier lists for more info.

Little Ladies' Day Seneschal Prince's Attire in Final Fantasy XIV

Little Ladies' Day, the celebration of all things Spring in Final Fantasy XIV, is back as of March 3. As part of the event, players can complete event-specific quests to get their hands on the rather nice Seneschal Prince's Attire.

The outfit is made up of five individual pieces that all have two separate dye channels, allowing full customization to your heart's desires. If you want to obtain the Seneschal Prince's Attire, you must be at least level 15 and then complete two short event-locked quests.

How to complete "A Princely Persona" in FFXIV

The Royal Seneschal in Final Fantasy XIV
Screenshot by Destructoid

To begin "A Princely Persona", head to Ul'dah - The Steps of Nald and talk to the Royal Seneschal at the Ruby Road Exchange (X:10.5, Y:8.6). After telling you that they're trying something new this year by introducing the Seneschal Prince, you'll be sent off to consult the star of the show.

Picot can be found outside Eshtaime's Aesthetics on the Steps of Thal (X:10.2, Y:12.4), which is easiest to access by utilizing the Aethernet Shard outside the Goldsmiths Guild. He's having an issue with the costume, apparently having asked for far too much, and needs your help to figure out what exactly people expect of a Royal Seneschal.

To help, you'll need to talk to two NPCs at the Sapphire Avenue Exchange, and one at the Weavers Guild:

  • Sapphire Avenue Exchange:

    • Resting Server (X:13.3, Y:9.0)
    • Bargain Hunter (X:14.2, Y:10.9)

  • Weavers Guild:

    • Well-Dressed Noblewoman (X:13.8, Y:12.7)

When you've spoken to all three, head back to Picot, who is now located at the Gold Court (X:11.2, Y:10.8) to report your findings and wrap up this first event quest.

How to complete "A Princely Debut" in FFXIV

Now that you've sorted out the wardrobe malfunctions of the fledgling star, you can begin preparations for the show itself. To do this, head to the Little Ladies' Day stage on the Steps of Nald and talk to Picot again.

You'll be warned to ensure you're not queueing for any duties, as you cannot skip the cutscene that follows, but it's not overly long and you can get through it relatively quickly.

During this unskippable cutscene, you'll be able to interact with four people on screen:

  • Royal Seneschal
  • Songbird Fans
  • Quicksand Employee
  • Picot

You'll need to interact with all of them to help Picot decide how he ought to approach his performance, but you can do so in any order. When all four have been spoken to, you'll leave the cutscene and move on to the next step.

While Picot heads off to talk to the Royal Seneschal, you'll need to head back to Eshtaime's Aesthetics to talk to Marabel, the seamstress in charge of Picot's previously-misguided costume. When you've done that, head straight back to the Little Ladies' Day stage and talk to the Royal Seneschal to watch Picot's debut performance.

After the performance, talk to Picot nearby to complete the quest and receive your very own Seneschal Prince's Attire for all of your hard work.

A surprised Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds

Thanks to the Monster Hunter series' massive explosion in popularity, Monster Hunter Wilds is doing everything it can to be as accessible and enjoyable to as many players as possible. And thanks to its admirable amount of accessibility settings, Wilds is sure to expand the franchise's audience even further.

Monster Hunter Wilds accessibility settings

You'll want to be on the main menu to change some of the accessibility settings in Monster Hunter Wilds, as certain updates need to be made on a larger scale. Other settings are listed in the accessibility sub-menu but cannot be changed there. For instance, the setting to add a background to subtitles is actually in the Game sub-menu. We'll note where you can find the toggle for each setting below.

Colorblindness and Arachnophobia settings

The first two accessibility settings offer solutions to more specific differences players experience. First, there are three different color schemes for those who experience various types of color blindness. Specifically:

  • Protanope for players who have trouble seeing red light.
  • Deuteranope for players who have trouble seeing green light.
  • Tritanope for players who have trouble seeing blue light.

Additionally, if you or someone you know suffers from arachnophobia, you can turn on the arachnophobia assistance setting. This alters the in-game models of specific monsters and endemic life to less spidery shapes.

While arachnophobia assistance does go a long way with adjusting the smaller monsters, large monsters like the Lala Barina still have well-defined spider legs. The change is primarily to their main body, altering things like additional fur and removing easy visibility of the beast's stinger and fangs.

Visual Accessibility

You can change the visual accessibility settings in the Game sub-menu. There are eight different categories, each with at least two setting types. The outlier is the HUD setting group, which allows you to alter the size and visibility of 19 different HUD elements. We'll start there.

HUD accessibility

Monster Hunter Wilds HUD settings
Screenshot by Destructoid

Each HUD element can come in four sizes: small, default, large, and hidden. The settings are:

  • Health Gauge
  • Stamina Gauge
  • Melee Weapon Sharpness Gauge
  • Weapon Information (for weapons with additional gauges)
  • Party info (including your cat and other NPC/player hunters)
  • Scoutfly Notifications (nearby items, monster parts, etc.)
  • Minimap
  • Environment Clock
  • Target Monster Icon
  • Button Guide (showing what each input will do)
  • Objectives
  • Chat Notifications
  • Slinger Display
  • Item Bar
  • Ammo/Coatings Bar
  • Custom Radial Menu (on controller)
  • Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Name Display: Interactives
  • Name Display: Characters and Palicoes

You can change the remaining visual accessibility settings on page two of the Game Settings sub-menu. The various gauge displays come in two formats: fixed, where you can see the gauge at all times, and dynamic, where they're minimized until it's deemed necessary to show them in full. The "necessary" situation is usually when the value a gauge measures changes. For instance, if you use Dynamic for your Stamina bar's visibility, it won't be visible until you start doing Stamina-consuming actions.

Additional Visual Settings

  • Health Gauge Display
  • Stamina Gauge Display
  • Sharpness Gauge Display
  • Companion Health Gauge Display
  • Menu Text Size: Choose between small, default, and large
  • Subtitle Text Size: Choose between small, default, and large
  • Subtitle Background: choose to display a semi-opaque background behind subtitles or not.

Auditory Accessibility

Monster Hunter Wilds offers a few options for those with difficulty hearing. You'll find them in the Audio Settings. They are:

  • Closed Captions
  • Cutscene Subtitles
  • Speaker Names (shown within cutscenes)
  • Speaker Names (shown outside of cutscenes)

Motion Sickness Reduction

My personal favorite of the accessibility settings in Monster Hunter Wilds is the ability to adjust how the game displays camera shake, sway, centering, and other movements. Wilds gameplay is very fluid and requires lots of manual camera adjustment to play at a higher level. If you're someone like me who's vulnerable to motion sickness, the ability to fine-tune the game's camera work is a godsend.

You'll find most of these options in the Camera sub-menu. They are:

  • Camera Distance: Zoom (the distance between the camera and the player Hunter)
  • Camera Shake (the severity of camera movement during certain in-game events like large ground impacts)
  • Ambient Camera Sway (how much the camera moves on its own)
  • Lateral Camera Correction: Normal (how much the camera leads ahead of your character when moving side-to-side while on foot)
  • Lateral Camer Correction: Mounted (as Normal, but while riding a Seikret)
  • Auto-centering: Normal (whether or when the camera is always facing the way the player Hunter is facing)
  • Auto-centering: Mounted (as Normal, but while riding a Seikret)
  • Motion Blur (whether a blur effect is applied to movement. Found in the Graphics sub-menu, page three)

Automatic Settings

This last pair of settings are simple and blanket adjustments to the HUD scaling based on how you play the game. Specifically, these settings alter the HUD sizeand the Menu and Subtitle text size. The two settings are:

  • Automatic Size: Desk (all sizes are default)
  • Automatic Size: Living Room (all sizes are large)

Those are all the accessibility settings available in Monster Hunter Wilds. It's not the most exhaustive list, but it does go a way toward accommodating a wider player base. Hopefully, they'll help you or someone you know who's always wanted to play the series but hasn't been able to for one reason or another.

Monster Hunter Wilds Special Items

The endgame in Monster Hunter Wilds can greatly test your mettle, and you'll need to find Hunter Symbols to get your build in order.

This is a crafting item that's going to be required as you get to encounter the mightiest of enemies on your adventures. It's necessary to create final-form weapons in the game, and you'll need 5x Hunter Symbols for each. The game does very little to explain how to obtain it, and this guide will help you to clear your confusion.

Best ways to get Hunter Symbols in Monster Hunter Wilds

While Hunter Symbols are required from endgame, you can also obtain them after making a fair amount of in-game progress. You'll have to grind till you clear Chapter 4-3 of the main storyline. Titled "Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns," this will be a stern test, and make sure to use your SOS Flare if required.

Once cleared, you'll encounter Tempered Monsters in their respective regions. These are special versions of your average monsters who are bigger and harder to take down. Naturally, you'll have to fight harder to defeat them in the first place.

You can look out for Tempered Monsters and defeat them as part of a Field Survey. To do so, you'll have to open the map and locate one to begin your quest. You can also create an Investigation to combat it at a later time. Similarly, you can also encounter these powerful creatures while completing an Optional Quest. You can always get side quests from different NPCs and then begin one by speaking with Alma.

Once you defeat a Tempered Monster, you'll get one or more Hunter Symbols. They come in three varieties, and the reward drops depend on the strength of the monster you're facing.

  • Hunter Symbol 1: 5-Star Tempered Monster
  • Hunter Symbol 2: 6-Star Tempered Monster
  • Hunter Symbol 3: 7-Star or 8-star Tempered Monster

Here's the complete list of monsters that will drop Hunter Symbols if you successfully defeat them.

Hunter Symbol 1:

  • Tempered Balahara
  • Tempered Chatacabra
  • Tempered Congalala
  • Tempered Gypceros
  • Tempered Lala Barina
  • Tempered Nerscylla
  • Tempered Rathian
  • Tempered Rompopolo
  • Tempered Quematrice
  • Tempered Yian Kut-Ku

Hunter Symbol 2:

  • Tempered Ajarakan
  • Tempered Blangonga
  • Tempered Doshaguma
  • Tempered Guardian Doshaguma
  • Tempered Guardian Ebony Odogaron
  • Tempered Guardian Fulgur Anjanath
  • Tempered Guardian Rathalos
  • Tempered Gravios
  • Tempered Hirabami
  • Tempered Rathalos
  • Tempered Xu Wu

Hunter Symbol 3:

  • Tempered Rey Dau
  • Tempered Uth Duna
  • Tempered Nu Udra
  • Tempered Jin Dahaad
  • Tempered Gore Magala
  • Tempered Arkveld

If you're struggling to defeat the monsters, make sure to check out our weapons tier list. Switching to something that suits your playstyle more will make progress easier.

An official promo art for Project TH.

With movies and shows such as Parasite, Train to Busan, and Squid Game it's become obvious that Korean media deserves its spot in the limelight. The same principle should be applied to video games, too, and it would seem that Splinter Cell is already on the docket for Korean reinterpretation.

That's right: whereas Ubisoft appears to be painfully uninterested in the production of an honest-to-goodness Splinter Cell game, that's not to say other devs can't try their hand at the same concept. Enter EVR Studio's Project TH, Project Two Hearts, and Project Shaman, which all appear to be different titles and/or title translations for a single game. Project TH is a third-person over-the-shoulder stealth action game that takes more than mere cues from Sam Fisher's most bombastic adventures. The thing is, it's got some of that trademark Korean weirdness to it, and though we've already got a bunch of gameplay, there's no proper release window in tow. Pinch of salt, folks. Pinch of salt.

https://twitter.com/TH_EVRSTUDIO/status/1625415078391730176

Splinter Cell, global conspiracies, (non)zombies, and idol groups come together in Project TH

Right off the bat, I've got to say that Project TH's official synopsis is about as out-there as your average garden-variety Metal Gear title. I recommend reading the full thing here, on the official website, but if you just need a highlight to set the stage, here you go: "[Ordo] is an idol group used as propaganda to increase the number of the voluntary military enlisting and quickly succeeds in gaining mass popularity and meeting its intended goals," it goes. "At the same time, an unidentified armed organization is assembled to take out Ordo."

Please note that all of this happens after the unification of South and North Korea (which is where the game's Two Hearts moniker appears to be coming from), and the playable protagonist is assigned as security detail to... an idol group of military propagandists. It's a whole thing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5rKroBgsgM

Back on track, gameplay trailers are available via EVR Studio's official Twitter account, and they show why it may well be worth keeping track of Project TH regardless of how you feel about its narrative pitch. This is basically a modern re-envisioning of Splinter Cell Blacklist, albeit with boy bands and zombified rage virus carriers thrown in for good measure.

Stealth is a major part of Project TH's gameplay, though high-octane action absolutely remains on the menu should you choose to pursue it. The whole thing looks remarkably slick in motion, and I hope the apparent strangeness of the narrative doesn't overshadow what looks to be a genuinely compelling new stealth(ish) game.

One thing that's bound to be a huge draw for fans of Korean cinema, specifically, is the fact that Project TH features famed actors Lee Hong-nae and Heo Sung-tae in leading roles. Might this all be good in the end? Possibly. Just keep in mind that this is about as Korean of a game as it gets. I don't think there's a Gachapon attached to the project though, and it's not a pay-to-win MMORPG, so that's neat.
